The Boston Celtics' 20-point lead was blown in the final minutes of the game, with the New York Knicks coming back to win 108-105. The Knicks' Jalen Brunson scored 29 points, and Mikel Bridges made a crucial steal to secure the win. Meanwhile, the Denver Nuggets are leading the Oklahoma City Thunder in their Western Conference matchup.

How about this? Right now, this minute, this second, the Boston Celtics are leading the New York Knicks 84 to 75. They're getting ready to head into the fourth quarter in the New York Knicks.

What a shock. They're trying to keep up scoring wise here with a deep Boston Celtics. Jason Tatum leading the way for Boston with 19 points. Jalen Brunson and Oji Ananobi with 18 points apiece for the Knicks. And Karl-Anthony Towns. Is he hurt?

Is there something wrong with this guy? Ten points. Yeah, this is what the Knicks decided to get with Karl-Anthony Towns. Anyway, we'll keep you up to date on this game as it continues on as they head into the fourth. And then in about 30 to 40 minutes, we got a Western Conference matchup, the Denver Nuggets getting ready to take on the Oklahoma City Thunder. So we got a lot to get into here in the final hour of the show.

Of course, at the end, we'll talk about a few things that took place this day in sports history. And if you want to reach out, you can do that too. 888-710-4ISN is the number.

That's 888-710-4ISN. You can find me online at JR Sport Brief. It's been a busy day. NFL draft announcements and NBA playoffs. We heard from Greg Popovich for the first time in months. Thank God he is. He's doing better following his stroke.

And then, well, somebody not better. We even got word from the Ravens about Justin Tucker earlier today. So we got a busy day. Let's kind of check in on a lot of the news stories that went down. And right before we went on the show, actually, excuse me, right before we went on air, we found out about Justin Tucker. And he's no longer employed by the Baltimore Ravens.

Take a listen to this from CBS Sports HQ. We have breaking news out of the NFL where the Ravens have released kicker Justin Tucker. The news comes just a few months after he was accused of sexual misconduct at multiple Baltimore area spas, prompting the NFL to start an investigation that remains ongoing. Now, Tucker is the NFL's all time leader in field goal percentage and holds a record for the longest kick in NFL history at 66 yards. He's also the Ravens all time leading scorer.

Yeah, he's the Ravens all time leading scorer. But unfortunately, he's dealing with 16 allegations of behaving like a pervert while getting a massage. Yeah, that's one surefire way to no longer have a job. I mean, if he was good, if he could kick 100 percent of his field goals, then maybe he'd stick around just a little bit longer.

But I think we all know it's easier to get rid of you when you, A, have started to decline at your job. And now you're walking around with baggage allegations or not. The Baltimore Ravens have decided that they want nothing to do with Justin Tucker.

They just drafted Tyler Loop out of Arizona in the sixth round. Yeah, man. Somebody called up, I think, Edwin from Maryland called us up last hour and he said, hey, it's it's about performance with the Ravens. And I'm like, yeah, but we all have to understand that these behaviors makes getting rid of you. Alleged behaviors makes getting rid of you a little bit easier. Who am I fooling?

It makes it a lot easier to go ahead and give you the boot. Justin Tucker out no longer the kicker, one of the most accurate kickers ever for the Baltimore Ravens. That's not the only news that we got today. Last week I sat around with Greg Popovich is no longer going to be the head coach of the San Antonio Spurs. He's now going to be the president.

I openly said here on the air. We may not hear from Greg Popovich for a very long time. Well, we heard from Greg Popovich today as Mitch Johnson was introduced as the full time head coach. And Greg Popovich is now going to be the president.

He's not going to be doing the day to day grind of coaching at 76 years old. Following his stroke, we heard from Greg Popovich and he basically had a lot of thanks to everybody from his new coach, Mitch, to the staff, everybody in the Spurs organization. Listen to to Greg Popovich.

Good to hear him again. I want to thank all of you in here. Former players, friends, people from a ticket office or people who put on a show during time outs. We all have a part in this. It's not just the players and the coaches. Everybody has been dedicated to do their part to make a successful, thriving organization. And that starts at the top with the Holt family.

We will continue to do our best to do this with class. It's one of the reasons why Mitch Johnson will be taking over because we have total faith in him to continue what's been started a long time ago. Yeah, we can always talk about, you know, they say when things go bad, it's the fish rots from the head. We hear that it's things go bad from the top down. And in the case of the San Antonio Spurs, you can look at the whole family. But having Greg Popovich there basically hired himself as the head coach and the culture that he helped build. Yeah, you got to have great management to allow people to do the work to succeed.

I think we all know somebody probably had a pain in the ass boss or manager, micromanage got in the way and they stifled you. In the case of Greg Popovich, he was able to do what he pretty much wanted. And we see the success that the San Antonio Spurs have had for the better part of 30 years now, since he took over at the helm. And now they got a Victor Wabenyama sitting here waiting in the wings. We hope that he can stay healthy, come back from that aneurysm.

Who would have guessed this? I always presumed his first major injury would be, I don't know, related to a knee or an ankle. Here we go.

The guy has a blood clot in his arm. So all the best to Greg Popovich as he continues to recover. And then the San Antonio Spurs, it's a class act of an organization. That's not the only big press conference that we got today. If you go from San Antonio, you make your way up to Washington, D.C., the president of the United States of America, he had an announcement in this one involved the NFL. Take a listen. I'm pleased to reveal that the 2027 NFL draft.

That's a big thing will be held right here in our nation's capital, Washington, D.C., on the National Mall. And you get a little glimpse of it. I don't think I was just saying to Roger, I don't think there's ever been anything like that. That's a good idea. In fact, maybe we could use it for other things. Also, I have an idea. It's it's going to be beautiful. It's going to be something that nobody else will ever be able to duplicate that.

I don't suspect. Oh, well, it's only one NFL draft. They're expecting more than one million people to show up and attend in twenty twenty seven as the NFL draft is going to take place at the National Mall in Washington, D.C., between the Washington Monument and the Capitol Building. And before we get there next year, the NFL draft is going to take place in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Now. I like I like Pittsburgh and I like D.C. I don't know if I want to be stuck in one million people trying to attend the NFL draft. I like Pittsburgh and I like the food in Pittsburgh. I like the people in Pittsburgh. I like the whiskey places in Pittsburgh.

Hey, Nico, you've been down to the Steel City before. I have actually, as a matter of fact, I think it was either last year or two years ago, I got to see a Pirates game at PNC Park. What an awesome stadium. Oh, my God, it is.

That is a beautiful place. And the fans are diehard, too, regardless of how bad they suck. They they show up and maybe a little empty inside, but they show up even when that team is garbage, man. There's a lot of pride for the Pirates. Yeah, I was going to say there's not much to cheer about these days in Pittsburgh for the Pirates, at least, but they are definitely a loyal fan base.

Yeah, there's no doubt about that. I need to you know, every now and then I want to clog my arteries. I may have to eat real good for about three months before I do it. You've had the Primanti's the sandwich. I so I went there and tried it. I'm not a big fan of that type of food, so I can't say it was my favorite, but I respect everyone that loves it. I'm not here to hate on it at all. OK, well, you're such a sweetheart of a guy. Well, that's why I said I got to eat right for about three months before I eat that, because it's a bird. What is it?

It's a burger with French fries on top of it and mayonnaise. Yeah, I try to stay away from that type of stuff. I mean, people tell me that I need to eat more because I am very small. So maybe I should start trying to go in that direction. But we also don't want you to have a heart attack. That's also true. It's either one or two directions.

You eat this enough where your body has now built up a resistance or on the other hand, you don't eat it and you have it one time and you know, your heart just pounds to your chest. We don't we don't want either one of those to happen. OK, that would not be a good result. Yeah, definitely not.

That wouldn't be a good result. But that's one of the reasons I want to head on out to Pittsburgh. I haven't had that sandwich in about, I don't know, three years. So I think I'm due for one.

One every three years I think is OK by me. NFL Draft will be in Pittsburgh next year. Two years from now, it will be at the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

So, yeah, go ahead. Book up your tickets. Start looking at your flights. If you want to go to D.C. in twenty twenty seven, knock yourself out. Also, not lost on me that for years and I can't even say for years at this point, it's probably decades. The president of the United States at one point in time, he wanted to purchase an NFL team that did not happen.

He ended up starting I think it was a USFL back in the 80s. And so he's kind of had a little bit of a beef with the NFL, never being shy over the past few years to say NFL owners need to do this with the Colin Kaepernick situation. And he's been very vocal.

But money talks and money kind of makes the world go round, as we all know. And so I wonder what type of concessions and what we might see here over the next few years as the NFL is going to be in Washington, D.C. to go out and have this draft. So, you know, always, always some type of deal being done. And speaking of deals, we got news earlier today.

And what a shock, not a surprise at all. College football and it has nothing to do with Dion. Michigan is back in the news. And I guess we might as well get used to this every every offseason, every other season as some of the stink from the sign stealing scandal is still going on. Now, we know Harbaugh is gone. He's over here coaching the Chargers, took them to the postseason, now trying to, you know, keep it moving. He's like, man, I'm gone. You can't punish me.

I left. Sharon Moore is still the head coach at Michigan coming off of his first year. I guess everybody feels good about him. He went out there and beat Ohio State outside of that is just like, hey, come back and be better the next season. Well, it appears that for the first couple of games of the season, he will not be there because of some of that counter stallion stink. Take a listen to this news report earlier today from CBS Sports HQ. We've got breaking news coming from college football. Michigan is expected to spin head coach Sharon Moore for two games of the twenty twenty five season. That's according to ESPN. The self-imposed suspension reportedly stems from the Connor Stallion's advanced scouting scandal and ties back to Moore, allegedly deleting text messages during the investigation. Moore will be suspended for the third and fourth week of the season.

That includes a game against Central Michigan and the Wolverines Big Ten opener against Nebraska. Man, that's deleting text messages is one surefire way to just look guilty. I'm sorry. Come on. And also he'll be suspended self-imposed and I guess a preemptive strike. Hey, if we punish ourselves first.

Then we look good for a light of punishment later on. Whatever. This is just par for the course in a lot of cases when it comes down to the NCA.

And then when it comes down to Connor Stallion's, they said this guy had. Friends and family with tickets and recording the sidelines are not the most clever of schemes. You think about sports and some of the cheating scandals that we've had guys banging on trash cans.

Apple watches and Apple phones to get information. I mean, we can we can kind of go on and on about cheating. Michigan. I feel like they're probably in the way that the NCA investigates. Nico, they may be handing out punishments to Michigan.

I feel like for the next five years, the way they go, they move like molasses. Yeah, it really is ridiculous how long they take with this. It's funny. I sent the text to my brother this morning that he had gotten suspended and he was like, wait, they're still doing an investigation about this?

Like, I thought this was so long ago. I mean, what does the NCA do that's that's on time? Absolutely nothing. Nothing. They don't they don't do nothing.

You know what? By the way, speaking of the president of the United States, President Trump, I saw that he might be interested in and trying to now aid in in this NIL issue where there's money being paid and there's no structure. Now, how we take the NCAA and mix it up with the government, which has already pretty much allowed the players to make money, but to think that we're going to have a fix coming from the United States government as it relates to college sports. Good luck on that one. I have no idea how that would possibly work.

I have no idea how that would be done a fast track. I think everybody knows and understands that we do need some structure in college sports when it comes to NIL. The players are allowed to make money, but you have so many of these adjacent collectives that they're basically branches in arms of the school boosters will basically say, hey, we'll pay you to come play here. And it is just completely screwed up the system. And now what are we waiting for next? The players to actually get paid by the schools.

This is as wild as wild as things can get. And Niko, you said it last hour about coaches and power. This is why the Jay Wright's and the Coach K's and the Nick Saban's like over the past couple of years, they've all said, I'm out. I'm leaving.

I'm not dealing with this crap anymore. Yeah, absolutely. I just want to share a side note on the Sharon Moore suspension. I think it's pretty ironic that he got suspended for the third and fourth games rather than the first two. And I think the reason why is because Michigan's second game this year is at Oklahoma, which sure enough is Sharon Moore's alma mater. Well this is what happens when you self-imposed punishment, right?

You get to cherry pick and pick and choose, huh? Right. It's like it's a slap on the wrist where they were like, all right, we have to do something. And then Sharon was like, okay, but you can't suspend me for the Oklahoma game. And then they were like, all right, fine.

We'll just do these two random games in mid September. Yeah, this is like, I don't know. This is like a kid punishing themselves and it's just, I don't know. What's the, what, how do you punish your kid now?

I don't even know. I mean, I guess you just, what you put them in timeout, take away their phone. Kids these days have cell phones. When I was in like fifth grade, I didn't even have any of that.

So they were way advanced. Might as well start taking stuff away then. In what circumstance could you take away a kid's cell phone and the kid not give a damn? Right. I don't know. I don't know.

I feel like these days the kids are very glued to those cellular devices, so it might hurt them a lot more than we think. Yeah. I'm, I'm trying to think of a self-imposed punishment by a child that I don't know. It's like saying, Hey, I don't know.

Yeah, that doesn't make sense. I'm thinking of something and I'm thinking about something in school where it's just, you know, what's the day that you don't want to go to, go to class? I don't know. Uh, they still do field day or something. I don't know. Is there like a, like a book convention?

Maybe like book convention, a book fair. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Do we still do that? Do we still do those?

I have no idea. Remember, remember you said they used to have book fairs at school and you had to, you know, buy the book and order the book. Do you remember that? Oh yeah.

I remember that. Do we, do we do, do we do that? Like kids are reading, this is a dumb question. I don't think, do kids read books? Do they read physical books? Like we, now everything is in a tablet. Like the idea of a book fair, as important as I think it would be, it sounds kind of antiquated at this time.

I have a couple of friends that are, that are teachers, so I'm going to have to do some research on this, find out if they're still doing it and then I'll come back with the information tomorrow. Yeah. Scholastic book fair. I remember those things. Yeah. What a, what a different time and era that we're in. What a world.

How about this? What a world right now. Boston leading the New York Knicks. The Knicks have fought back. What's the score? Up 91 to 89, a little less than five minutes to go in the game. The Knicks on an aggressive push getting back into this one.

We'll keep you up to date. It's the JR sport reshow here with you on the infinity sports network. When we come back, I do want to get this out the way. And speaking of New York, Abdul Carter is still trying to run around figuring out his number. It's just a wild situation. We'll talk about a few things that took place this day in sports history.

We got a lot more to do. More on the other side, the JR sport reshow, the infinity sports network. It is the JR sport reshow here with you on the infinity sports network, man.

How about this? The New York Knicks going on a run here. Jalen Brunson getting hot again and 29 points. The New York Knicks. They now lead the Boston Celtics 97 95, uh, two and a half minutes to go in this game. Jason Tatum is kind of been quiet and gone cold. He has 21 points. I'm sitting at about 19 points for a very long time. Brown has 20 as Jalen Brunson is starting to light things up for the Knicks.

Uh, Nico, I don't want to be a jerk here. I think the Boston Celtics are still going to handle this at home. Yeah, I'm not getting too excited with two and a half to go here, but I got to say I am very pleased. Winner loss with how the Knicks have looked tonight. Yeah, well, the, the bounce back, the fact that they didn't just give up and quit. I will, I will give them credit on that one is the Celtics have retaken a lead on a Devin White three now 98 97 next immediately go out and call a time out. Uh, the score at one point in time. Well, the Knicks were down what, like 20 points? Yeah, they were down 16 at half and I actually remember hopping into your headset during one of the breaks and I was like, yikes, that was a bad end to the half. So to see them come back in the second half and not roll over is a really good site to see. Yeah, well, we'll see what the New York Knicks continue to do here in this game.

Celtics now lead 98 97 two minutes and 15 seconds to go. And this one, and I can't believe we go on an entire show here and we're going to get to another guy in New York in a second. It's May 5th.

It's Cinco de Mayo. Is it crazy in New York? Have you noticed?

Of course you did, right? Well the rain probably has put a damper on things, but yeah, I haven't, I haven't really noticed much to be honest. Yeah, the weather here has been nice. Um, man, I got too much stuff going on. I ain't thinking about Cinco de Mayo, not a taco. I know I haven't had a taco. I don't want no tequila.

I'm sitting here working. I don't want, I don't want any of it, man. Nothing. Is it wrong that I had pasta for dinner and not Mexican food? Like should I, should I apologize? No, who cares, right? It's just a day for the everybody with the Mexican restaurants to make money off of alcohol sales, right? Yeah.

Can't blame them though. I'm going to do, I'm going to open up a pop ups. I'm going to, I'm going to do pop ups. Why just, it's just seasonal just for one day only. That's it. I support it. Yeah.

This is as simple as that. Yeah. I'm like, Hey, it's Cinco de Mayo and thought that hasn't even crossed my brain at all. Now, speaking of, of New York, this is a story that is just, um, is not going away. Apparently Abdul Carter of the New York giants is still trying to figure out what number he's going to wear. Lawrence Taylor said, no, go find your own way with number 56 of Phil Sims who wore number 11 for the New York giants.

He, he said he was willing to go ahead and give up the number until his family pretty much told him, uh, hell no dad. And I don't, we just had a conversation about how college athletics is changing and the guys are getting paid and all of a sudden we got a dude who just got drafted by the New York giants. He's, he's thinking about wearing Lawrence Taylor's number and then he has to just go to, um, Phil Sims next to wore number 11 and it's just doing too much.

I get it. Like every team, there's probably too many numbers that are retired all over sports. Like you think about the New York Yankees, I don't even know how many numbers they have retired.

This is a crap ton of them. Should we stop? Should we just have rings of honor? I mean, people are going to know the players that famously wore a particular number. Do we need to keep retiring all of this? Or maybe a guy like Abdul Carter should just like get your own number and start and create your own legacy. It's kind of kind of maddening that like, what's he going to go to next?

Nico? I wish she would just pick a number and shut up about it already. Yeah. I'm very, very against him taking a number that's already retired because then at that point, what's the point of retiring numbers, right?

If you're just going to unretire them. Yeah. And we, we haven't been around most sport. Has sports been around that long? Organized sports about a hundred years or so. Like we're going to reach a point if you're a good organization, if you're the Celtics, if you're the Lakers, if you know, you're the Yankees, the Yankees, probably the biggest culprit. How much longer do we have to wait before there's like no numbers left?

And then you think about the NFL, they just had to relax some of the rules when it comes down to what position players wear particular numbers. Like they're, they're just doing too much. Like leave some of the legends alone, start your own thing and let's just keep it moving from there.

It's just, I can't do that. Hey, we, we got, we got Marco Belletti. Marco, what are your thoughts? Like why is Phil Simms even entertaining something like this? I don't know. Look, you'd have to obviously ask Phil Simms and his family came to their senses and said no, because I got to be fair, this whole thing angers me. And it started for the Giants last year with Malik Nabors because he wanted to wear a cool looking number, number one that was already retired.

So they go to Flaherty's family, who's already dead, was the first number ever retired in all of pro sports. And you kind of, I don't want to say you browbeat, but it's almost like, can you just let the kid have it? Can you just let him? And then they have it. And then all of a sudden, here we go. Now, now we're talking about Lawrence Taylor and now we're talking about Phil Simms. It doesn't stop. And there was no even connection.

And I'm putting this on Nabors too, because there was no connection to him, the number one. It just looked cool. So Carter wants to look like Lawrence Taylor, taking over for the Giants or wants to be that Lawrence Taylor. You know what?

They go do it on your play. You want 11 because you wore it in college? Too bad.

Like, I'm sorry. There's a lot of, there's a lot of the audacity that it looks cool or that's always been my number. Well, guess what?

Someone was here before you and they did it with that number and they're in the Hall of Fame. Now, if you go off and do your thing and you become a Hall of Famer and they retire your number, how are you going to feel when somebody else who's not even born yet is going to say, you know what, let me see your number? Well, you know, they're not thinking about that. No, because they're thinking about themselves. And that's what angers me because you're only thinking about you. You've got the world in the palm of your hand and that's not enough.

You got to have something else that somebody else had drunk. Yeah. Well, this is really the first time that I've, I've ever heard a player go, Hey, you know what? I want this guy's number who happens to be probably the greatest defender ever.

And then he goes to another retired legend. Like you didn't get the message or the thought from the, the first go around. I can never, I do not remember anything like this ever at all. You know, I feel like a while back there were a couple of guys that had kind of said it now the Yankees are awful with this because they've retired too many numbers, but that's what they did. And I forget who it was, but there was somebody that didn't realize like, what about the number three?

And it was like, no, no, that's babe Ruth. Oh, Oh, okay. So you don't know your history. You walk in and just like, can I get a number? Now, if somebody explains that to you and you go, Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't realize then I got no problem with it.

But if you turn around and go, well, what's the difference? I still want it. Then I got an issue with you. And that's where I feel like we're headed with all this. I'm hoping that this isn't as an outlier with Abdul Carter.

I certainly hope so. I can't imagine us getting to next year. It's certainly not with one of these New York teams, but another guy, I got to ask a legend.

So what are we doing here? We're going to have a guy in New England going, Hey, I want to wear number 12. That's recent enough. So they actually saw him play. So all of a sudden there's a respect level there.

Cause I even said this last year because I was annoyed when neighbors took one. Now I never saw Flaherty play. I don't even remember his first name. Is it Ray? It doesn't matter. It was retired. My point is last year I kept saying, what's next?

We're going to see somebody ask for 56. I thought Lawrence Taylor, who's known as one of the greatest, if not the greatest defensive player that ever played this game, I thought was somewhat recent enough. I know none of the kids now or none of the players, I should say they're grown men. None of them have saw Taylor play. And I understand that, but I thought it was close enough that they would still have a respect level for it. Obviously I'm wrong.

So unless you saw the guy play, not good enough. And I have a serious, serious problem with that. Yeah. I think the only way that we should have a decent space of let's go ahead and un-retire a number is if we ever run out of numbers.

I mean, outside of that, it's just, what are we doing? And that's part of it too. And I get it and it sucks, but like at the same time, wear an ugly number. You know, like I know that's part of like, Oh guys, that's, I don't want to be 68. Who the hell wants to be 68? Guess what?

68 is available. Wear that. You know, like that, that's part of it. And I, I don't want to sound like I'm callous, but at the same time, like you're playing professional sports. If your number is the biggest issue with you being able to put up a good performance or not, then I question you and where your want is and where your mind is. It sucks to have an ugly number. Get over it and grow up.

Yeah. We'll, we'll never hear that though. We'll never hear that. Like a guy who can't, he can't go out there and perform because he's wearing a crappy number. I feel like we made bad movies about this. Like it's just, it's to me, it's asinine. Just the idea that asking for a legend's number and part of it's not just because the legacy, it's just because it's a cool looking number. There's a reason why it's a cool looking number and it's not available anymore is because somebody got it way back when and they turned it into what they turned it into.

Now sometimes that happens. A quick question for you. Trivia, right? Bad trivia. Do you remember what number Dennis Rodman wore with the Lakers? Not a clue. I think he wore 77.

Let me look that up. It was ugly. I know Rodman was kind of like the king of an ugly number, which you know what?

Not for nothing. 99 in baseball always looked like a September call-up and Aaron Judge wears it now. So he, so I was wrong. He didn't wear 77. He wore 73. Yeah.

With the Los Angeles Lakers. Yeah. Ugly. Make it ugly and make it yours then.

He wore 70 with the Dallas Mavericks. Yeah. That's what I'm saying. So like there's, it's not like, look, again, some numbers look better than others.

I'm not going to sit here and tell you that they don't, but if that's the case, just find the best looking number you can find that's not retired. If it's on your, like I have no problem with a teammate going to another teammate. Now it's bad if you've got like a legend that's on the team, but like you walk in and the kicker's got a number you want, you want to pay him for it? Go ahead. That's, that's business. That's okay.

But if the number was already retired 30 years before you were born, you can't have it. Yeah. Well you said it. They're thinking about themselves. I'm still kind of shocked. He wanted to ask Lawrence Taylor about wearing it. I'm like, whoa. Ask Michael Jordan. Somebody played for the Bulls.

Ask about wearing 23. And that's the same thing. And that's makes me wonder. And this is why, like I don't, if Taylor was dead, luckily he's not. If he was dead, would it be okay then? Giants wouldn't give him that number. Hell no.

They did it last year with somebody else. Giants would not give away Lawrence Taylor. They would not.

You know what, again, we're in ugly territory, right? The outcry would be, it'd be too much. But the people that say it's okay. Well, they asked the family. So how, if you're the family, you're now like, you know, three generations later, like I didn't even see my grandfather play. I don't know.

I guess you could have the number cause now you feel pressure. It's wrong. It's just wrong. Yeah. Well, Abdul Carter will, he'll, he'll figure it out.

Figure it out. It's the JR sport re-show here with you on the infinity sports network is New York giants team. They, they don't know what the playoffs are. And meanwhile, we got another New York team currently in action right now in Boston. And it looks like they got to do a little bit more work, both them, the Knicks and the Celtics. It's the JR sport re-show on the infinity sports network. We'll take a break. When we come back and talk about a few things that took place this day in sports history, it is the JR sport re-show here with you on the infinity sports network.

Yeah. The New York Knicks and the Boston Celtics. They have certainly moved themselves into having one damn good game one into overtime right now. The 16 seconds left here, the New York Knicks lead one Oh eight to one Oh five.

Of course, if this game shouldn't, we'll keep you updated the best that we can before we get ready to roll out. But it is the end of the show. And what we do at the end of the show is we talk about a few things that took place this day in sports history. Today is no different.

Here we go. Back in the days when I was young, I'm not a kid anymore, but some days I sit and wish I was a kid again. It's time for this day in sports history. Back in those days, we had radio and you couldn't see anything.

And it was primitive and lousy on the JR sport brief show. I wish I was 50 years younger. It is the JR sport re-show here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network today. Yes, it's Cinco de Mayo. Hopefully you're not drinking and driving.

Hopefully you're being safe and all of the wonderful things that help keep people alive yourself and others. Today is May 5th. The year is 2025. If we go back to May 5th, 1969, how about this? The Celtics beat the Lakers 108 to 106 to win an NBA title in Bill Russell's final game. They had to overcome a 2-0 deficit to go out there and do so. Let's take a listen. Courtesy of ABC, the Celtics winning that title in Russell's last game, 1969.

Let's hit the fast forward button just a little bit. May 5th, 1978. Pete Rose. He got his 3000th hit in Major League Baseball. The Expos unfortunately beat his Reds.

The score was four to three. We know what Pete Rose ended up at. We'll get there in a second.

Let's take a listen. Pete Rose getting his 3000th hit courtesy of MLB. Pete Rose getting his 3000th hit courtesy of MLB. Pete Rose, we know where he ended up with more hits than anybody ever.

4,256. He retired after 1986 and we know he got that ban in 89. Not the greatest thing. Unfortunately, Pete Rose passing away before he was ultimately, well maybe one day, be reinstated. He still is not in the Hall of Fame.

May 5th, 2021. Much more recent. My folks in Baltimore might remember this one.

John Means. He threw the 10th no-hitter in Orioles history. Orioles went out there, got themselves a victory, a final score. Well, it was six to nothing against the M's.

Let's take a listen courtesy of Massey. When you think about this, he actually lost a perfect game with the third strike, wild pitch. That took place in 2021.

This just took place seconds ago. The New York Knicks overcome a 20 point deficit and the New York Knicks beat the Boston Celtics 108 to 105. McHale Bridges came through with a couple of big threes here in the third. On the inbounds pass, the Celtics trying to get the final shot off.

McHale Bridges actually ran up and this sounds crazy. He ran up to Jalen Brown. Jalen Brown got the ball. Bridges ripped it out of his hand to secure the win. Time expired.

I don't recall seeing something like that ever. Brown was actually looking for a foul on a three point shot. The possession before, you know, being here on the air, it's kind of hard to decipher whether or not he was legitimately foul. Uh, Nico, did it, did it look like a foul to you? They said it wasn't, it wasn't a shot.

He'd otherwise he would have been at the free throw line. No. Yeah. There was some contact there. I'm going to have to go back and watch it again if I'm being honest, but it looked like there was a little bit of contact.

I'm, I know I'm biased. I'm okay with letting it go there with three seconds left. Put the, put the whistles away for the referees and just let them play. Yeah, that was an interesting one. I thought, I thought Carl Anthony Towns gave him a little bit of a shove when he went up for three. So I'm sure that'll be something that will be debated over the next, well until the next game.

That's how long that'll take. But the New York Knicks coming back from a 20 point deficit, uh, certainly not expected in any respects. I'm taking a look right now at the box score and Jalen Brunson helped turn things around at the end of the game.

It's 29 points from Brunson, Carl Anthony Towns, 14 OG and Inobi at 29, Mikel Bridges. He waited until the end of the game to have some big shots late. He knocked down two threes, had that big steal to go with eight points. So he showed up when it mattered the most. So the Celtics, they're going to be ripped to shreds because of how they blew this 20 point lead.

And maybe this will be a wake up call for them. Jason Tatum, uh, kind of fallen flat towards the end of the game. Only 23 points total, uh, not active in the second half.

Uh, Jalen Brown also finished with 23. So we, we got a lot to get into tomorrow. Uh, meanwhile, the Nuggets and Thunder, they are already underway. Uh, the Nuggets currently leading the Thunder six minutes to go here in the six minutes left in the first half, Denver leads 15 to 12. What a day, what a day, what a day, what an ending here for the New York Knicks beating the Celtics on a bounce back. Hey, thank you so much for listening to the show and thank you to our guests for coming through as well. Uh, Steve Ashburner, nba.com, senior writer. Thank you to my main man out in the Bay area, Bonte Hill from NBC Sports, uh, coming on through to talk about the golden estate warriors. There'll be an action tomorrow.
