It is the JR Sport Brief Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. I'm coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you to everybody tuned in and locked in all over North America. I hope you're safe. I hope you're well. Happy Friday to you. Hope you're all getting set and ready for the weekend.
I hope you're getting ready for round two and three and on and on of the NFL Draft. This is when the show gets started. Every weekday, 6 p.m. Eastern, 3 Pacific. I'm in Atlanta, like I said. I'm being joined by super producer and host Ryan Hickey.
He is in New York City. And we got a lot to get into. Obviously, round one of the NFL Draft, it's done. Tonight, we get round two.
That gets going in about an hour from now. Then Shadore Sanders hoping that he gets elected sooner than later. We'll talk about him in a second. There was a quarterback selected before him, Jackson Dart to the New York Giants. In about 20 minutes, we're going to have a chat with Art Stapleton of USA Today to have a full discussion on why the hell did the Giants take Dart and not Sanders, amongst other things. We'll talk about some of the best players that are available today in the draft. We'll talk about the teams that did a good job or maybe they did a bad job. You know, did the Falcons do too much by trading a first rounder next year to acquire Pierce this year? We'll talk about it. Same thing with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Did the Jags do too much in acquiring Travis Hunter? Got some NBA action as well tonight. We got Boston and Orlando in an hour. We got Indiana trying to take a 3-0 series lead against Milwaukee and we have the Lakers and Minnesota.
Somebody is trying to get ahead. Take a 2-1 series lead. That's a lot. Yeah, we got a lot to talk about. You want to be a part of the show? It's easy.
You can. 888-710-4ISN. That's 888-710-4ISN. You can find me online. I'm on the internet.
I'm everywhere at JR Sport Brief. Feel free to call. Feel free to message. Feel free to do all of the things. Thank you for listening on the free Odyssey app.
Your local Infinity Sports Network affiliate is Sirius XM375 and a smart speaker, if you have one, ask the speaker to play the Infinity Sports Network. It's Friday. Be a little lazy, okay? Make the speaker do the work.
Make the machine go out there and do the job. Me and Hickey are doing our jobs. Hickey, how are you on this Friday? You okay? Oh yeah, doing good, JR.
Doing good. Excited for round two tonight. More draft stuff, NBA playoffs. Let's go. Let's have ourselves a great weekend here.
Hey, I'm ready. We got to wait about an hour for round two of the draft. We got so many players that are still available on the draft board. Guys like Jill and Milro is still available. Well, Johnson is still available. Cornerback from Michigan. And of course, we have Shador Sanders is still here.
We had a chat about this last night as we broadcast the draft live, both myself and Bart Winkler. It was a matter of, hey, the biggest story is the fact that Shador was not taken. He fell out of the first round.
This man had his jersey retired last Saturday in Boulder, Colorado. And the next thing you know, you would think that he would be on Mount Rushmore. You would think that he'd be selected in the first round, but no, he had to wait. And I guess Shador knew the writing was on the wall.
Last night, he said that this was a little bit of a surprise, but how much of a surprise could it really be? He didn't show up at the draft. Now, is that a matter of being too cool for school?
I'm Shador. What do I need to show up to the draft for? I mean, if he was going to be selected number one, two, three or four overall, you would assume that he'd show up. And so there had to be a feeling, either one or the other.
And I think it might be the latter. Number one, I'm too good for the draft. I'm going to do my own thing. I'm an individual. I'm going to hang out with my friends and family. I'm going to do my own thing.
And then there's number two, which I think is more realistic. As Shador and his family, they heard all the noise. They heard all the possibilities that he just might fall completely out of the first round. And they said, no thanks, we'll pass. We don't need the television experience that Lamar Jackson had. We do not need a TV experience that Aaron Rodgers had. We don't need the Will Levitz experience.
We do not need to be sitting around in Green Bay, Wisconsin for two nights, three nights, wasting our time. And so Shador said it was a surprise. It was a shock. But was it really?
This is what Shador Sanders put on social media when that first round, when it came and left and he wasn't drafted. We all didn't expect this, of course, but I feel like with God, anything possible, everything possible. I don't feel like this happened, you know, for no reason. All this is, is of course, fuel to the fire. And under no circumstance, we all know this isn't going to happen. But we understand we're on the bigger and better things. Tomorrow's the day we're going to be happy regardless.
That's it there. It shouldn't have happened. Well, it did, right? I mean, if things are supposed to happen, they happen the way they're supposed to happen, right?
Why did it happen? I think Shador Sanders is a good quarterback. I do.
I think he's better than Jackson Dart. I do. I also know that when your last name is Sanders, Shador understands this. Dion understands this. There's going to be baggage associated with your name.
And here's the reality. The baggage, if we dare want to say his last name is baggage, the last name Sanders, it didn't do him well. It didn't do him a positive. He would have had to have been overwhelmingly better if he was going to get selected in the first round.
I think if we've all learned anything, it doesn't matter if it's right or wrong. We got a guy like Colin Kaepernick. The man hasn't played or thrown a football at this point in about eight years. He's 38 years old.
That book is closed. OK, he could work out as much as he want. Last week, his girlfriend was caught by TMZ. What a shock. And she said that he's still working out and he's still ready. I feel like we get that once a week, once a year from Colin Kaepernick.
It doesn't matter whether it's right or wrong. I think they did that man wrong. They did him dirty and he's gone. He's cooked.
He's ultimately made himself a distraction. He knew that. And he knew that was certainly a risk. This is a big business. The NFL is a big business, multi-billion dollar business.
Franchise is worth, you know, eight, nine, 10 Jerry's franchise is probably approaching a 15 sooner than you know it. This is big money. Oh, 15 billion.
Yes, billion. These teams and these owners and these coaches, for as dumb as some of them are, I won't name any names, I'll let you fill in the blanks. For as ignorant as some of them are, I will let you fill in the blanks. Some of them don't know their ass from a touchdown.
It's just a reality. They don't know a punter from a field goal. They don't know a punter from a field goal kicker.
They don't know some of them. But this is a volatile business here today, gone tomorrow. And a lot of the selections that were made yesterday can really define whether or not a GM is going to make a couple of million dollars or whether he's going to be looking for a new job next year. That's the reality of managing in the NFL. I need to mitigate risk. I need to protect my own ass. It's not what the fans think is the best thing for the franchise. I'll do that.
But I also need to do what's in my best interest so I can pay my bills. And yesterday, as the first round of the draft that came and went, the New York Giants said no to Chador. Hey, this guy Chador used to work out with Tom Brady because his dad is Deon, okay? The Raiders said no to Chador. The Browns said no to Chador. We got to 21.
The Steelers said no to Chador. And then after that, the door pretty much slammed shut. This is like anything. You've heard the analogy. You've heard the cliche better.
This is a cliche. Is the juice worth the squeeze? Do I want to bring on Chador? I could love him as a QB, but maybe he's right on the line. Do I want to bring him on and then bring on what might come with him? Do I want to open myself up to tweets and criticism for Deon? There's no guarantees that he will or that he won't.
We have no idea. But let me just put it this way. If he was absolutely undeniable, he'd be drafted. He would have gone in the first round.
There'd be no question marks. People are saying that he's paying for this with his dad. That partially, probably is true. But unfortunately, I mean, we had a case like this, not exactly similar, but almost last year, you got a big dad who's very influential and pull some strings. LeBron James was able to do it for his son. LeBron James had and has the ultimate leverage the Lakers wanted and needed him because the Lakers don't do anything but sell celebrity.
They sell championships. Deon isn't necessarily on the inside, but he certainly has media influence on the outside. And if I'm running an organization, you can go ahead and ask Aaron Glenn, the new head coach of the New York Jets. The last thing I want is for somebody to have more influence than I do when it comes to me running my team, when it comes to me running my organization.
So regardless of Aaron Glenn and Aaron Rodgers hating each other's guts for five minutes, the reality is Aaron Glenn didn't want what happened to Rob Salah to happen to him. I don't need to sit here with my team while quarterback one is outside having his own show, sharing his own messages, having more influence than I do inside my own locker room. We always hear the phrase Monday morning quarterback. Oh, it's easy to call the shots when the decisions have been made already on Sunday, it's easy, you know, to be a, you know, armchair quarterback on Monday, it's easy to point the finger and go, Oh, you should have done that. Imagine if that dude is Deon Sanders.
Who the hell wants to deal with that over your shoulder every single day? Should do it will get drafted. We'll get drafted. But now that it's not in the first round, there's less risk. There's less financially attached to the pick.
He's easier to get rid of. There's less leverage from the Sanders family to kind of boss and bully things around. I don't think NFL GMs are going, Oh my God, we were putting them in their place. I don't think they sat around and said, we got to show those Sanders who's in charge. I don't think Roger Goodell rubbed his hands together.
And by the way, I think he has a very good relationship with Deon Sanders. I don't think they sat in a secret room and said, we got to show them who's in charge. I think in the simplest forms, people didn't want to deal with the unknown. They didn't want to deal with what Deon may or may not do. They don't want to deal with the questions sitting in a press conference on a Monday or a Tuesday. Well, Deon said this on his show or, and so you don't want to do that. Yes, Chador has been humbled. I don't think that was the ultimate goal, but I think that is a result.
And show up to work. I think he will be selected. I think he'll be selected here in the second round sooner than we believe. I wouldn't be surprised. I wouldn't be shocked if the Browns gave him a look. Not at all. I would not be surprised.
Chador Sanders passed over in the first round of the draft. He says he's surprised. He says this isn't how it was supposed to go, but hey, what in life goes the way it's supposed to go? Well, there's always a speed bump, a little bit of a hiccup, something that you have to overcome. You've heard this cliche we've talked about a lot. It's not how many times you fall is how you get your ass back up.
Well, let's see what Chador does in striking back. It's never wrong with a chip on your shoulder. Go out there and prove people wrong. I mean, we had a guy who didn't even play in the NBA. He was yelling for years, my sons are going to the league. My sons are going to the league. His sons got to the league, and thank God he shut the hell up.
We don't know what Deon will do when Chador will get in. I was referring to the Ball family, by the way. There's something about these families, something about these fathers, something about their sons.
Nothing wrong with hyping them up, getting them to the point. But there comes a point in time where everybody has to stand on their own two damn feet. And Chador, what a way the world works. Saturday number retired at Colorado. Thursday, first round, not even drafted.
Life comes at you fast now, doesn't it? I think Chador will be fine. I'm going to say may actually be better for him.
A little chip on his shoulder. Let's see where he goes. Let's see what he does. I think he will be selected rather early here in the second round. It's the JR Sport Reshow here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network round two and three. Rounds two and three of the NFL Draft start tonight at 7 p.m. Eastern Time. We'll keep you up to date on the picks, the relevant ones as they come in. Keep you up to date on some of the NBA playoff action as things kick off in a little more than an hour from now as well. We're going to talk about some draft winners and losers, some of the trades, some of the controversial selections that we had.
We got you covered. Coming up next on the other side, we're going to have a chat with Art Stapleton of USA Today. We're going to talk about the New York Giants. That's another team that said no to Chador, but they got the other first round. Quarterback in the draft, his name is Jackson Dart.
I want to get Art Stapleton's opinions on what the New York Giants did, what they did not do, what we can expect from them in the future. That conversation is on the other side. You're locked in and listening on a Friday to the JR Sport Brief Show on the Infinity Sports Network.
Don't move. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief. It is the JR Sport Brief Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. We're getting ready for round two and three of the NFL Draft. Last night, round one came, and apparently the New York Giants, they got a little richer.
Abdul Carter on the defense. You pick up Jackson Dart after trade later on for quarterback. Are these two moves going to keep a job for Joe Shane and also Brian Debo? What should we expect from these New York Giants? Defense certainly looks good. Offense has picked up some veteran QBs.
Dart has a chance to wait. This conversation, it's time to have with someone very familiar with the New York Giants. It is Art Stapleton of USA Today. Art, how are you? What's up, JR? Happy Friday. How are you doing? I'm very well.
Happy Friday to you as well. We got a lot of happy people getting ready to be drafted in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Let's talk about what the New York Giants did with their draft. First of all, nobody expected them to kind of double down in the first round and walk away with two picks. Can you talk to us about the Giants decision and their explanation as to why they selected Jackson Dart?
Yeah, well, I mean, I think they put in for the second year in a row a lot of homework on the draft class. And let's go back just a year ago, not to do a full history lesson, but six quarterbacks going, I think it was in the top 11 or 12 picks last year with Pennock, O'Nick and J.J. McCarthy with the top three of May, Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels. And I think if those six quarterbacks were not so front loaded in the draft, I think you may have seen the Giants trade up in the back end of the first round last year to get a quarterback that they like.
And I believe after those top three, it would have been Michael Pennix, but that didn't play out. So a year later, I think they tried to cover themselves with Russell Wilson and Jamis Winston to not have to go in desperate. But I think the way the draft was falling, a lot of these quarterbacks outside of Cam Ward, once the entire evaluation process played out, were viewed as kind of late first round, second round quarterbacks. And it doesn't mean they're bad quarterbacks.
It just means that, you know, they're going to go a little later. We're not used to quarterbacks going later. And, you know, the bottom line is they need a franchise quarterback and they have one that they believe in, in Jackson Dart.
They think his traits match up with what Brian Gable wants in his offense. And for a regime that, you know, needs to show some promise here moving forward, however games you win or playoffs or whatever else, the bottom line is they had to give themselves an opportunity at the quarterback position. And I think Jackson Dart, for them, represents that. And now we'll see if the value matches the price and the opportunity.
Okay, Art. Well, we heard why they selected Dart. Of course, we're not going to get a clear answer from the New York Giants brass. Why do you think they went with Dart as opposed to someone like Chidor who they spent a lot of time with? You know, I'll say this, you know, and look, and I was on the Chidor train too back in February because of the time that they spent with Chidor going to the East-West Shrine Bowl and meeting with him and getting captured on video in hotel lobbies talking to Chidor, thanks to his video crew, you know, the brothers Sanders that always follow him around. But, you know, I like Chidor as a player and as a quarterback and really as a person.
I don't have any issues to say about Chidor. But, you know, sometimes when front offices and coaches tell us it's early in the process, we don't listen to them. We just kind of shrug it off and say, ah, come on, you guys know who you want to take. And I think with Chidor and with several other quarterbacks throughout this process, sometimes you meet with guys more than others because you need to make sure that your read on them is correct. And sometimes the read is you want to make sure that if you're not going to draft them, that you've turned over every stone and vetted every possible opportunity in their evaluation. And I think with Chidor, you know, unfortunately with Chidor because of who his father is and his legacy and everything else, I think people just don't allow others to just like Chidor. It's either you love Chidor or you hate Chidor. And I just don't think that's fair to Chidor or the teams that are evaluating him.
And I think ultimately the Giants got into the process and they felt as though Jackson Dart fit this offense a little bit better. He's a little bit more athletic, which is weird to say with Deion Sanders as your father, but that's the reality. I mean, Chidor said, look, I'm not the athlete that my father was.
Guess what? No one in the NFL, maybe going back to Jim Thorpe is the athlete that Deion Sanders is. But, uh, you know, I think Babel likes to have a little bit more RPOs in his offense, having his, having this quarterback to be a run-ass threat. And I think Jackson Dart kind of represents it.
The bottom line is JR, all of these quarterbacks, including Cam Ward, who went number one, have warts in their game. They have holes in their game. They have strengths and they have weaknesses. And for anyone to say that they don't, uh, I think is unfair. So as much as Chidor's game, uh, gets criticized, I think everyone else, their game should get criticized as well.
So that's kind of where I'm at right now. I just think that the Giants picked the best quarterback that they thought fit their offense and what they wanted out of the franchise quarterback moving forward now. Art Stapleton covers the New York Giants on the beat.
When you think about what they did early on, no, no shock there. We, we heard about this, them selecting Abdul Carter out of Penn State. Now we also understand after there were some rumors that they would trade Kavon Thibodeau, that they're going to keep him on.
Do you think he's going to be around for the long haul or with the salary cap eventually in a few years or season or two is going to be too much to keep all of these guys? You know, here's my thing with, with Thibodeau you draft Abdul Carter. You want to take a solid position that you already had upfront with Brian Burns, Kavon Thibodeau and Dexter Lawrence on the interior.
And you want to make it a strength. So you draft Abdul Carter. What sense does it make now to all of a sudden trade Kavon Thibodeau away and now you're weakening something that could really be the identity of your team.
And this Giants franchise has been searching for an identity. And I think by bringing in Carter and keeping this group together upfront by picking up Thibodeau's 50 year option. I mean, look, he's still on his rookie contract and the 50 year option is only, I mean, I say only with respect in regard to the franchise tag, but the reality is $15 million for Thibodeau. They can make that determination in the off season and say, look, it's not working.
They can look in October and say, it's not working, having all these guys on the field together. Let's see if we can trade Kavon because right now Kavon Thibodeau's value is not where you would expect it to be. Anyway, it's not like someone's going to offer them a second round pick. It's going to be a mid pick.
And, uh, I just think you're better off holding onto them and see what it becomes. Do I know that he's going to sign an extension here and be here, uh, for the long haul, as you said, I think it's too early for that. Um, but look, the giant, if there's any franchise in the league who knows what it's like to bring pass rusher after pass rusher after pass rusher, it's this franchise. They won two Super Bowls in part because of it. So I would think that keeping Thibodeau around, at least for the short term, is the right way to go.
Art Stapleton here with us on the JR Support Breeze Show Coast to Coast. That's on the defense. We know when the New York Giants have won their championships, they've always leaned on that defense with Russell Wilson here. And he's going to be the starter. He already knows he's on borrowed time.
What is your, your confidence level in this offense this upcoming season with him and Jamis? Yeah, that's the million dollar question, right? Or should I say the $10.5 million question with Russ in here? Um, the way I look at it this way, JR, is that look, I think we're going to learn a lot over the next couple months into training camp. You know, Russ is saying all the right things. I mean, but the reality is that now you have a first round rookie quarterback, regardless of how Jackson dark got here. I mean, they want to red shirt them.
They want to keep them out. They want Russ to succeed. They need to have some success this year to kind of stabilize things during the season. But Russ also has a lot of incentives based on playing time and production. And if he's not performing, you're not just going to throw money away and let him, you know, play 75% of the snaps and then just start collecting million dollar bonuses because he's there. I think, you know, look, you look at what Russ did last year in Pittsburgh, right?
And everybody looks at him and says, oh, it's awful. They had to get rid of them. They made the playoffs. They made the playoffs.
This giant team won three games. If Russell Wilson comes here and wins six games for the Giants and gets them to the playoffs somehow, they'll be erecting a statue of a mouse out of MetLife Stadium, the way things have gone the last decade. So that's kind of how I see it. I think Russ stabilizes some things. I think he gives this offense a little bit of an identity at quarterback.
Yes, you look at it. He's a little corny. And then you throw in the personality of Jamis, which is very goofy, interesting, humorous when things are going poorly and you need a pick me up. The bottom line is, you know, someone told me that this quarterback room went from milk toast to fireball whiskey. And that was before Jackson Dart, who was kind of Baker Mayfield-esque as far as personality on the field.
Fiery. You know, this quarterback room is a little combustible right now. And I think Brian Dable liked that. I think he needed to kind of spark this offense a little bit. I think maybe he's hoping that, you know, the personality mix kind of feeds into some of these guys on offense. You know, Malik Nabors really became a leader last year.
And, you know, that was unexpected. I think that this offense, you know, look, you've got to produce more than you did last year. But I think this defense is really what's going to carry the load for the most part. And they hope they reach their potential. And, you know, look at the teams they've got to play in this division, J.R.
They need this defense to play well in order to be able to stay in games with the likes of Jayden Daniels and Jalen Hurts and Dak Prescott if he's back healthy with the Cowboys. A. Art Stapleton here with us on the J.R. Sportbreeze show.
Last question for you, Art. You mentioned Brian Dable and same thing here with Joe Shane. I mean, they inherited a big part of the roster from Daniel Jones to Saquon. They had to extend them after they beat the Minnesota Vikings in the postseason. Now that they're, you know, bringing in their own quarterback in Jackson Dart, now that they've brought in what a lot of people expect to be a transcendent player in Abdul Carter, have they bought some time with Mr. Marra upstairs?
Well, you know, that's the that's the thing that no one can tell me that they're in John Marra's head. Right. And I think, you know, he talked about the end of the season. It's all for interpretation that he wanted to feel better. He had to feel better about where the season goes at this time last year. That was his message the day after the season in which they won three games.
The plane flew overhead, demanding change, and he kept both Joe Shane and Brian Dable. I think they like their process. I think they they hit it out of the park on night one because they made the most of the opportunities that were presented to themselves. They now have a young quarterback here now for Dable. It's about you're the quarterback whisperer. We hired you because of what you did with Josh Allen. You did great in year one with Daniel Jones, year two, year three. There were a bunch of factors, injuries, things just didn't work out.
This is on Dable now, Dable and Jackson Dart to get this guy ready to play. And I think ultimately their futures are tied to the quarterback and how this defense plays because this team needs some hope. And I think at this point you bring in good players, you be competitive, and you give yourself an opportunity to look into the future and expect bigger things. I think that's the way you convince John Mara to keep them around right now. I think Joe Shane has a stronger hold on his job than the head coach does because quite frankly I don't think it's easy to replace a front office. It's certainly easier I guess to replace the head coach every year because you can always get a hot candidate that's on the market, front office, or a lot harder. So right now I think they're still in lockstep, Cain and Dable, but I do think that a little bit more pressure is on Brian Dable going into this season because like you said, now you've got the quarterback to develop. There is no more excuse as far as, well you got to keep him around, you got to give him a quarterback. Now he's got a quarterback, this is the guy that he wanted, let's see how they can develop him and get them into a position where they can look at the quarterbacks in the division, like I said Hurts, Daniels, and Dax and say, you know what, in another year maybe our guy is at their level and then we can compete.
And if he can compete at quarterback, he should compete at just about every spot on the field. And New York Giants are hoping that they can finally move and progress towards being a good organization and a good team again. Hey Art, thank you so much for the time and your expertise covering the New York Giants.
Where can people follow you in all of your work? You can get all my coverage at northjersey.com. We got a podcast all in with Art Stapleton. You can find it on all your podcast channels and on YouTube and I am on social media at art underscore stapleton. Hey Art, thank you so much man.
Have a good weekend. That Art Stapleton that covers all things New York Giants. It's the JR sport re-show here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network. 888-710-4ISN.
That's 888-710-4ISN. We've been trying to figure out why we've had a couple of teams out here passing on Chidor Sanders. When we come back from break, we're going to talk about some of the other players available. Some of the best players that are still available here on the draft board. We'll do that when we come back on the other side.
Yeah, we're now about 25-30 minutes away from the start of round two. You're listening to the JR sport brief. It is the JR sport re-show here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network. Thank you so much to Art Stapleton for joining us. Covers all things New York Giants. We'll see what the giants can do. They're still an interesting team. They've certainly added some talent. The talent that they hope is maybe their future.
Jackson Dart and then Abdul Carter. Well, I think we all expect for him to go and join the New York Giants. And Hickey, I can't wait till they come. They're going to come up with some some nickname, right? Aren't they?
Because they have to. Yeah, I guess you're right. But typically you think about nicknames for units and they have to be winners. I don't know if this New York defense, the front line might be amazing. But they got to win something. I remember the big blue wrecking crew.
The New York Jets, they were the sack exchange. They were going to end up with a nickname, a four unit. There's basically going to be a bunch of the team is going to be a bunch of losers. How many wins do you think the Giants are going to have? I wouldn't give them more than I feel like seven or eight is is being too positive.
Yeah, I would say I would probably say seven right now without looking at the schedule. And obviously we'll get that at some point soon. Thank you yesterday for the NFL for announcing the announcement date of the schedule. Right. Right.
We all needed right. Roger Goodell is going to use the bathroom tomorrow to what announcement? I'll say right now, seven.
That's my number. OK, we'll see what happens there. There are no big they still play in the same division with the Philadelphia Eagles, the Washington commanders who are a step away from the Super Bowl. God only knows what the Dallas Cowboys are going to do. But between the Cowboys and the New York Giants, those are the two teams that are well, they're the bottom feeders. Dallas Cowboys going offensive line yesterday, grabbing Booker in the draft.
Abdul Carter for the New York Giants. He had a chat with Michael Parsons, a fellow Pence. Hey, what's up, Nittany Lion? And that what you guys call it? No fellow Nittany Lion.
How intimate is it? It's just a mountain lion, ain't it? Yes. And the mountain near Penn State is called Mount Nittany. Yeah. OK. Mountain lions on Mount Nittany. Not anymore, but used to be. What, global warming took the Lions out? No, I think it's the development of the city. Yeah.
Oh, great. You want mountain lions patrolling near a college campus. That would have been cool.
My college experience would have changed. Yeah, why not? Come on, man. We got animals. Well, no, we need to leave some space for the animals. But you got an education. So the animals might be gone, but you got a you got a degree out of it. And listen, I'd much rather have that. I hated going to class, but I'd much rather go to class and have to face a lion in the streets just patrolling.
That could kill me at any point. And man, they should have if they had a lion out there, they should have gave you a degree just for beating the lion. Yeah, you can beat the lion.
You live and face them and live degree and free tuition, too. All right. Yeah. Yeah. Free tuition.
Get your money back and go out into the real world. I think there'll be a lot of challengers. Not many winners, though. I don't think so. You, sir, can be the lion. Here's your degree and your money back.
Not too bad. Abdul Carter, he doesn't have to worry about any of that stuff. He's getting paid the big bucks to now chase QBs. He actually said that he wants to follow the footsteps of Lawrence Taylor. Don't do that. Only on a football field.
Kinda. Just listen to what he had to say. But he's the greatest football player of all time.
Somebody to look up to. Just want to like just following his footsteps, knowing how great he was. And I just want to chase greatness and knowing that he was the best.
That's why I want to chase. But I'm not. I didn't say it just like I'm saying I want to be better than Lawrence Taylor.
That's more of me looking up to him, inspiring to be like him. Okay. All right. Enough of enough of that. Okay.
No more. Picky, I heard a story as an old story. I think it was about how Lawrence Taylor, he celebrated his draft night by drinking. I don't want to exaggerate. I think he said he had forty one course lights. It was something insane. Insane. Didn't maybe on that story.
So I have. Didn't he also say that he didn't remember the team he was drafted by or am I making that up? I don't remember that.
I don't know about that. I mean, after forty one course lights, I think, you know, you think he would have a tough time remembering who drafted him. You think he was only drinking course lights?
You don't think he was doing something else? I mean, it takes a lot of time, even for the best beer drinkers in the world. It's going to take you a long time to finish forty one beers.
Well, I think he was on one of those. Don't go to sleep for a few days if you get madrift. Right. And I think you need some PDs, for lack of a better term, to help push you through the tiredness that otherwise your body would be facing. OK. The tiredness. Yes. Fatigue. The anti-fatigue. OK. Do you do you never mind?
I was going to ask how you might take this PD, but. Hmm. You don't drink it, right? No, I don't believe so. I don't think it was found in those.
I don't think course lights like have, you know, some Red Bull or some uppers in them. You don't drink it. OK, but you wouldn't hate it either, by the way. OK, you can. Well, well, never mind. Let me leave Lawrence Taylor alone is Abdul. Please do not follow him off the field.
Don't chase the woman he chased. You know what? Here's the thing. It's the it's not the 80s anymore. Hickey is some of the issues that the athletes face today a little bit different than what the New York Mets and the Giants did in the 80s.
It's a different time. Less. You really, Hickey, you really don't hear about Booger Sugar no more. OK, you don't. Well, I think part of it is there's a lot more to lose now.
What would Booger Sugar? No, well, it's the money. Oh, well, you know, there's a lot more at stake. So if you get caught using stuff you should be using, all of a sudden now there's money, you know, money back then is not as consequential as it is now for making some of those decisions. Yeah, just just smoke. It's fine, right? That's not that's not what I'm saying, but that's what these guys do.
And in a lot a lot of states, it is more than legal to do that. Or take. Oh, my God. Who's a wide receiver?
He got caught with all the unfortunate drugs from the Browns. What's that? What's that, brother?
Oh, my God. How many chances he get? Like four. He got like 10 years too early. Oh, probably 15 years too early.
Realistically. Yeah, he's I want to I hope he's fine. I hope he's good. Did you see recently what happened to another what was supposed to be a promising wide receiver that busted out ASAP because of.
Oh, Justin Blackmon, right? Arrested again. They said he was too big to fit in a cop car. I did not see that. No, stop. I'm not joking.
I'm not making it up. Oh, that's so sad. I think they said he was too big to get in the back of the car. I didn't even recognize him, J.R. in the mugshot they used.
I did it. I did not even know that. His face is bloated.
He's a. Yeah, man, what a talent. He was drugs. Drugs can ruin your life, folks. Try to stay away from them, OK? Try your best. And stay in school. It's the J.R. sport show. Is that appropriate thing to say?
Stay in school. I'm the most appropriate. Where's that? Where's that crime dog? What's that guy's name? You know what I'm talking about, right? McGruff. Yes.
McGruff. Yeah. That and dare.
Bring it back. It don't. I don't even know what a dare stand for. Dogs against ends. I don't know. Dogs against recreational ecstasy. I don't know. They're still there for. Come on.
That's actually I have no idea. The drug abuse resistance education. Here we go. And now it's done.
Dare existed from 83 to 2009. Now we don't need there. It's done. It's done. 2009.
There was dead. Wow. Now you can vape and teenagers are vaping and who needs dare? Nobody.
OK, don't do drugs. It's J.R. wisdom. The J.R. sport show on the Infinity Sports Network. We're getting ready for round two of the NFL draft. We'll talk about some of the guys that got selected, some of the teams that did an amazing job. We are on Shoulder Watch. Is he going to get taken by the Browns in the next few minutes?
We'll find out. Keep it here. It's the J.R. sport. We show Infinity Sports Network.
