The 2025 NFL draft is underway, with Russell Wilson signing with the New York Giants and Aaron Rodgers' future uncertain. The NBA playoffs are heating up, with Russell Westbrook and LeBron James leading their teams.

It is the JR Sport Brief Show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. I'm coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia.

Thank you to everybody tuned in all over North America. I don't care where you are. I don't care what city you're in. I don't care what town. You could be on top of a mountain.

You could be on the beach. Thank you for being here. I'm in Atlanta. Our super producer and host Ryan Hickey.

He is in New York City. The show gets started every weekday at 6 p.m. Eastern, 3 Pacific. You could tune in on the free Odyssey app, your local Infinity Sports Network affiliate. If you got Sirius XM, channel 375.

If you got a smart speaker, ask the speaker to play the Infinity Sports Network. And we've had a busy show. Thank you to NBA Champion, Sirius XM, NBA radio host Antonio Daniels for coming through to join us to talk about all things NBA. Thank you as well to Ryan Stiles for coming through to have a chat about the Oklahoma City Thunder. Yeah, the team that won 68 games.

Not a big pick to win it all by a lot of folks. We'll see if they can finally get over the hump. We got a basketball game going on right now in New York City. The Detroit Pistons lead the New York Knicks is 60 to 53. The Pistons are trying to tie up this series at one game apiece. So we have a whole lot more to do before we roll out. Of course, at the end of the show, we'll talk about a few things that took place this day in sports history.

More basketball to get into. We had a chat about Nico Iomalayeva, who formally who formally accepted. Well, did he accept? Did he tell him he was gone?

He had a no contact. He's going to be at UCLA. And then ironically, what a wild world that we live in.

The former quarterback for UCLA, the guy who showed up for a cup of coffee and a practice, Joey Aguilar is moving on to Tennessee to replace Nico Iomalayeva. What a what a crazy world. There's some things that you you just can't make up. If you want to be a part of the show, you can do that to. 888 710. For ISN, that's 888 710.

For I.S. and. Antonio Daniels brought up some good points we talked about a lot. Cooper Flag took a look at some of the things that are going on in the NBA playoffs right now. We got a matchup tonight between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Nuggets. Nuggets got away with a victory. This is the gift of Russell Westbrook. Sometimes Russell Westbrook giveth and sometimes he take it away. He did a little bit of both in that last game. The Nuggets won against the Clippers 112 to 110.

They'll be in action in a little more than an hour from now. And Westbrook off the bench, 15 points, eight rebounds, had some key shots late, almost had a turnover late that made me go, well, damn, is Russell Westbrook going to give this game away? But that's the nature of his game.

You don't know what you're going to get and how things are going to turn out. So we got game two between the Denver Nuggets and the Los Angeles Clippers. That game will take place in a little more than an hour from now. Ty Lue, the head coach of the Los Angeles Clippers, he says, yeah, of course, we got to go out and win. Otherwise we're cooked. We expect to win. Like we're not happy because we went to overtime like they're, you know, they're a good team and we're a good team as well.

We just got to do what we're supposed to do. You know, take care of the basketball, keep them off the glass and then we'll be fine. But if you turn over 20 times against a team that is number one in offensive transition, then you're going to lose the game.

And so we understand that we just got to be better. Yeah, you think about the top scorers Kawhi Leonard had 22 points. James Harden had 32. Norman Powell only had 12 points. I think they need a little bit of a pickup from him. Zubac finished with 21 points. The Clippers were the hottest team to end the regular season. They won 18 out of their last 21 games. I wouldn't be surprised if this series goes to seven games. It's that type of thing.

Kawhi Leonard, Mr. Excitement himself, he talked about what the Clippers need to do tonight in game two. You just got to be decisive. Get more in attack mode situations. And that's it really. A lot of the turnovers we caused.

So you get to. Hickey, was that him? Was that really Kawhi who spoke?

Why? That you sound more jovial than normal? Yeah, maybe.

Yeah, a little bit. And that was on a Kawhi Leonard excitement scale of of one to ten, where five being normal human being excitement. He was at a four.

Coming off a loss to none. Yes. Yeah, right. No, normally he's just at one. He was a four. I just.

Hard to believe him sounding like a human being. Wild stuff. Russell Westbrook, knowing that he's a well, these is up and down of a basketball player that you could ever have in your life. Russell Westbrook said tonight, we know they're not going to lay down in game two. They're going to try to win.

Come on. That's a tough team over there. They've been playing very, very well the past month or so.

So we did our job. We didn't do that, especially one game at home court that we got to get ready to go on Monday. OK, yeah, they'll be in action in a little more than an hour from now. Game two between the Denver Nuggets and the Los Angeles Clippers. This might be one of the best first round matchups of the entire NBA playoffs.

I mean, a lot of these games, as we discussed, a lot of these series, they might be set up to be blowouts. We saw yesterday the Thunder blowing out the Grizzlies by 51, the Cavs over the Heat, 21 points, the Celtics blowing out the Magic. We got the Warriors. They were beaten up on the Rockets. Rockets went on a little bit of a run late to make the game only nine points or ten points. Just still, this game, this series Clippers Nuggets might be the one to watch. And then we also heard last hour from NBA champion with the San Antonio Spurs, Antonio Daniels. He came on by to have a chat about the overall NBA playoffs. And we saw what happened to the other Los Angeles team, the Lakers smacked by the T wolves 117 to 95.

I guess it's the thing to do right now. If LeBron James has a bad game, they just call him old. LeBron James didn't play all that great against the Minnesota Timberwolves. LeBron only 19 points, five rebounds, three assists, one of five from downtown.

People were calling LeBron James, Le Old. Luka had 37 points. Austin Reeves only had 16.

Lakers got nothing else. Meanwhile, Anthony Edwards, we know he's not afraid to take a shot. He had his coming out party last season in the postseason, in the playoffs.

He finished the day almost with a triple double, 22 points, nine assists, eight rebounds. And he was in Los Angeles. He's talking crap to the fans. He's talking smack to everybody.

Anthony Edwards always, well, in a lot of cases, fine for what comes out of his mouth. Anthony Edwards says, I'm not afraid of no Lakers or their fans. I'm not afraid of no Lakers or their fans. It's easy.

It's easy for me, man. I've played in Denver, man. Denver is a tough place to play in on the road. So, I mean, it was nothing.

Oh, damn. Hickey, maybe the fans in Los Angeles are too, they're too docile. Maybe the Hollywood crowd is too relaxed in their courtside seats. Too comfortable, too well fed, maybe too rich to care.

Too rich to, yeah, I was going to get to that, too rich to care. It's funny. They talk about, when you talk NBA, some of the worst fans that talk the most crap are fans. They say Utah is bad.

Utah, Denver, and my missus, Oklahoma City has a college field. But those are the fan bases where they say just the atmosphere is just crazy. Portland, when they were running a few years ago, that's a tough place to play, motor center. Kings, I know we haven't seen that a lot, but yeah, they suck now. Yeah.

Well, yeah. And for a while, but was it last year, two years ago, light the beam? That was a great home court advantage. What was great home court advantage? Not lighting a beam, right? Not that. Well, the fans fed into it.

Yeah, no, the beam played a part of it. Kings fans were loud. They had the cowbells, which helps. Man, they were better off like 20 plus years ago.

It's crazy to think that 20 plus years, like years, 20 plus years. Vlade Devox, Jason Williams, Pajar Stoyakovich. I think Pajar Stoyakovich kid also is in the transfer portal. Did you hear about that?

I did. He went to Cal? I forgot where he started, but yes, he is now in the portal.

He's homeless at the moment. Like you're Pajar's kid. You can't find a good school to shoot the ball at. Come on now. Like, why do you need to be at the transfer portal? Come on.

Like find one good school, send them to Duke and just call it a wrap. Okay. What are we doing? Why? Because you make some calls. Yeah.

Because you're in California and you need to go to Arizona. What are we doing? Like play with, uh, when is Bronny going into the, not Bronny.

Uh oh, I'm in trouble now. What's the other kid's name? Bryce.

Yeah. When is, is he, he's not starting school this year. Is he? He got another year. Doesn't he? He got one more year of high school. I don't know.

Let's see. He committed to Arizona. I'm assuming that that means he's going there next year, right? Next year.

Not, not August. No. Right.

Oh, I was going to say like, I mean, you're committing by your junior year. I don't think so. Oh damn. Wow.

He turns 18 in June. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. He could potentially be drafted in 2026. No, come on.

Hickey. Yeah. I feel like that sounds, wow. So is LeBron going to play with both kids? No.

We're going to have this whole thing over all over again in two years from now. Yeah. But I think Bryce may actually be better. Oh no. Wait, you gotta be kidding me.

He's going to play college ball in August, September. What are we doing? It's pretty crazy. Yeah. Hickey, LeBron is going to have grandkids and he's still going to be playing in the NBA. What are we doing here? What are we doing? Three generations of James is on the court at the same time. Yeah. Like what is this? Look, no, LeBron might own the team. His son might be general manager and his grandkids might be on the court like this is, and this is a legitimate possibility. What are we doing here? Wow. Bryce is expected to join the Wildcats for the 2025 to 2026 season. How do we get here so fast?

Like how? I remember talking about it being like, wouldn't it be an incredible pipe dream if Bronny was good enough to play in the NBA? And we know he's not ready. May he stick? Will he not? We have no idea, but he's in the NBA.

Like the fact that that's even the case is wild. And now he has another son who's taller and appears to be more athletic or maybe he's less athletic. He's certainly taller. And I think he's more of a straight ahead scorer. He's about to be in college.

He could stick around for one year he could stick around for one year and then also declare for the draft. This is just nuts. What a world. I thought one kid was enough. LeBron, two kids and Lee.

This is, this is just nuts. Meanwhile, LeBron is trying to figure out how to go out here and beat the Timberwolves. I told you he only had 19 points in that opening game and LeBron, he talked about what they sucked at and what they need to do better at. Offensive rebounds, giving up open shots to lasers, you know, not being in the right position.

You know, so there's a lot of factors, a lot of factors that allowed them to build that big lead up to 27. All right, forget LeBron. What is his former podcast host, current Los Angeles Lakers coach, JJ Rettig? What did he think went wrong? Let's listen to him. We were mentally ready. I thought our spirit was right. I thought even when they made runs, our huddles were great.

You know, the communication was great. You know, I'm not sure physically we were, we were ready. Hickey, am I wrong in thinking that the Lakers, see, I think the Lakers can still beat the Timberwolves. I just believe they have a, a smaller margin for error. Like LeBron and Luca and Reeves have to just kill it in every game.

Because if that's not happening, yeah, we all know about the size. Like they have to outscore them. We could talk all we want about defense. You got to stop Anthony Edwards. And then Jayden Daniels popped up and he also had a 25 points for the Timberwolves.

And that's, that's McDaniels. He's not gonna, you know, scare the living hell out anybody. I like the Lakers to win this series. You think the Wolves are going to beat them? I don't.

I'm with you. I think it's going to be a very tough series for LA. I think they do rebound, but like that size is a real factor. Like, you know, you saw the game flip there because the Wolves got a ton of offensive rebounds led to second chance points.

But like you can scheme all you want. The reality is Jackson Hayes played eight minutes. And so for most of that game, LeBron is the tallest Laker on the court. He does a lot of things really, really, really, really, really well. Do you want to measure center? Can you win a series with him being at, as your center?

I think they will, but it's really tough. Yeah. I mean, all he, he's skinny. All he does is rim run. Like, there's nothing else that he does.

Like he can, he can put up points on a bad team like he did for the New Orleans Pelicans. He ain't, he ain't moving anybody out the way. He's, he's listed at 220 pounds. He's seven feet tall. That might be, that might be generous.

Yeah. The Los Angeles Lakers, I've always envisioned this team. They're going to have to run small ball and run you out the building. That's tough when you got a 40 year old player who's still one of the best in the league.

But, and I guess having days off here in the postseason will certainly help. But yeah, I wouldn't be too up in arms about the Timberwolves walking away with this first victory against the Lakers. NBA season is, or the NBA postseason I should say is, it's underway.

Got a lot going on. New York Knicks, I told you are in action against the Pistons. Pistons leading 66 to 53 in game two. We talked about what we'll see tonight between the Denver Nuggets and the Clippers.

I think that game, well that series will probably go six or seven. And when we come back from break, this is rather interesting just to switch gears. We know that the NFL draft at this point is only three nights away. We got a lot of rumors, a lot of word that's going around, but we'll also, we have some veterans who might have to fit in with the upcoming NFL draft. I'm going to give you an update if there is one on Aaron Rodgers, the New York Giants, and then also Kirk Cousins.

We'll get into that. Of course, we'll talk about a few things that took place this day in sports history. You're locked into the JR sport re-show coast to coast on the infinity sports network. We had done quite a bit of talking. I still can't believe LeBron's kid. His next kid is going into college in August.

This is just mind boggling to me. We could have another James in the NBA as soon as June of 2026, but let's not hit the fast forward button too much. LeBron James certainly a legend in his own right. But with the NFL draft a couple of days ago, we got a couple of. Well, I can't even say a couple of legends. We got one. Hickey Aaron Rogers is a legend. I can't take nothing away from him, right?

Right. Future Hall of Famer legendary player. He's a legend.

Yes, he's a legend. Just off the wall in his own space in his own world. Last week, he made it very clear he doesn't know what he's going to do in his career. Is he going? Is he coming? Is he staying? Is he retiring? Is he going to Pittsburgh?

He doesn't know what the hell he's going to do now. We have heard now that we have no idea what Aaron Rogers is going to do. Kirk Cousins would be the next available quarterback that any team looking for a veteran would try to get their hands on.

You know what Kirk Cousins leg looks like, what his shoulder performs like is to be seen. But he certainly would be a viable backup option. Now, having said that, it's been reported that the Atlanta Falcons, they want whoever team if they trade him, they want whoever acquires Kirk Cousins to pitch in 20 million dollars of his remaining 45 mil on his contract. A lot of teams reportedly have said no. By the time we get through the draft this upcoming Thursday, we'll have a better idea of who needs a quarterback who needs a veteran and we'll kind of go from there. I wouldn't be surprised if he was reunited with the Minnesota Vikings. I wouldn't be shocked if the Pittsburgh Steelers say, well, damn it, we've waited long enough for Aaron Rodgers. Let's just go get Kirk Cousins. If that's if they don't go out there and draft the quarterback.

So we're going to have a lot of questions that are answered this upcoming Thursday as it relates to the quarterbacks that are eligible. One team that is not interested in discussing anything, Aaron Rodgers is the team that just said no thanks. It's the New York Jets. Darren Muji is the new GM of the Jets. Aaron Glenn is the new head coach used to play for the Jets, was a former defensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions.

They basically said no thanks. And before we get to the NFL draft, every team is having their press conferences. Aaron Rodgers told us last week. Didn't appreciate the Jets and how they let him go, thought he would have time, felt that he flew across the country to be told no thank you. And there are some reports that say that's not true.

Who the hell knows? But ultimately, their GM spoke to the media today. And he was asked about giving a retort to what Aaron Rodgers had to say.

And let's just be clear. Darren Muji was just like, Aaron Rodgers doesn't play here anymore. I ain't talking about him. I understand the question and I address that at the combine. But today I just want to talk about the draft and Jets players. You have any regrets?

I understand the question, but I'm just going to talk about the draft and current Jets players. Damn. Hickey, that reporter, why'd he try again? Come on, what are we doing? He thinks that guy's Nico Harrison. How dumb does he think he is?

That's good journalism, though. You can't just ask once and let him off the hook. You got to ask twice in case he's stupid like Nico. Exactly right.

And maybe trick him by asking in a different way than the first time that it was phrased to see if you can catch him off guard. OK, there you go. All right. Good point. Good point, Hickey.

Good point. Well, maybe maybe that's why people hate the journalists, right? Is that how it goes?

They hate them. Well, you got to be persistent in life, right? If you ask a girl out, she says no the first time.

Doesn't mean you shouldn't ask her out again. It's got to be more convincing. Well, are there rules to that? I mean, how does that work? If somebody says no, you got to wait like another week, a month.

How does this work? I'd say a month, probably. Hey, you reject them. You don't even bring up the rejection from last month. Hey, I just wanted to hit you up.

Holler again. Maybe we do that. Like, how does that work? I don't know. Well, I don't know.

I guess in terms of. Yeah, you've never been. You've never been rejected, huh? Well, no, no, I have been. But I give up. I'm a quitter. I'll admit I'm not persistent enough. I get shot down one time.

I'm done. You get, you're given advice or something you've never done. Exactly. Is that the best advice? It's like the opposite. Do the opposite of what I do.

I would give up the good reporters, the good people that get dates in this world. They ask again. Try, try, try again. Yeah. That's like, that's like the, the 60 year old guy who's been divorced six times, giving metal advice, right? Is that equal? Or maybe he's going to give you advice. Right.

Is that equal? Or maybe he's qualified to give it because he's failed so many times. That's right. He knows.

Oh, he could tell you what definitely doesn't work. And that's just as good as what works. Yeah.

I guess if you look at reporting in that perspective, it's a, it's a good way to get the job done. Yeah. Look, Muji ain't saying a damn thing about Aaron Rodgers.

It's done is done. Like there's nothing else to say about that guy. Aaron Rodgers is probably going to trash the jets between, he may trash them in his hall of fame induction. He may try to forget that completely existed.

But misery loves company. So him and the New York jets, they were basically made for one another. Meanwhile, speaking of New York quarterbacks, New York giants have a new one.

It's not to say that they don't draft another one. Hello, Shador. But ultimately Russell Wilson as Hickey and I had discussed, he is on a full New York City welcome to town tour. He was at the Knicks game the other day sitting front row with his wife, Sierra Hickey.

I don't know. He's waiting on fashion week, but maybe not. I think that takes place during the season, but his wife will certainly be present. Has he done the Broadway shows and all of this stuff yet? If he has, I've not seen him photographed at them yet, which I'm sure he's not going to go to a play without being photographed. So I'm sure we'll see it.

I just haven't seen on social media yet. Yeah. I'm waiting on him to just take photos in Times Square, Central Park. I'm waiting on that. Like a great authentic New York slice. I feel like I'm part of the city.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, one thing is people should be taking bets on this. Where will Russell Wilson be seen publicly?

Where if we should do over unders? New York City, a subway system, the Times Square, Met Gala, Central Park. Where's someplace else he would end up? I don't know. Wall Street.

Like they, somebody should be taking bets on this. Statue of Liberty. You can go on a little ferry tour. Where do you think he's most like at the Met Gala, obviously, but outside of that one, where do you think would be the place? Central Park probably, right?

I would say so. A-Rod was famous for going to Central Park, tanning on the rocks. I could see him kind of wanting to copy that. Like I'll tell you where he's not going to be. I'd put a lot of money on where he will not be seen.

The subway. What? There's no shy's going on. Zero chance. None? He will never step foot on the subway. He will probably even never look at a subway platform in his life. No chance.

He, they don't want to try to humanize him? No, you sure? No, I'm positive. I think he'd rather take one of those smelly horse carriage rides right in Central Park than go on the subway. There's zero shot he's taking the subway. Victor Wenbanyama got on the subway. Come on. I saw Harrison Ford was on the subway.

Everybody gets on the subway in New York. I think Russ Wenbanyama, I would say is humble. I would not use the word humble for Russ.

I don't think he's humble enough to go down and hang out with some of the homeless, deranged people that hang out on the subway, even during the day. Right. And subject himself and Ciara to that. Oh, he, maybe she needs to do a music video.

You know, I don't know. She's going to do that. She's going to go.

She would buy a subway car, take it off the tracks to make sure that if she had to do a video that involves for whatever is a subway, that's how they're going to get it in there. Okay. All right.

Good point. You don't think he's going to go throw out a first pitch for the Mets game? No Yankees, right? Any Yankee guy? Yankee guy. Well, he, he would definitely be at Yankee same actually surprised he hasn't thrown out a first pitch yet.

Has he, has he been photographed at a Yankee game yet? I haven't seen an air yet. He's waiting for the weather to break. It's been pretty cold the last few weeks. It's April. He doesn't have to really disappear for work until what?

Mid end of July. He has time to do all of the things he does. What a guy. And then he actually, he spoke today.

Hickey. Was he in front of humans or they have in front of the computer again? I think it was in front of humans. Yeah. Wow. New York giants stepping it up. No more zoom calls with Russell in the media. Russell Wilson spoke today and what a shock or what a surprise Russell Wilson is thrilled to be in New York giant. Dave's ran a great meeting today, just, uh, you know, he introduced everybody and from the coaches to everybody else, uh, some of the new players as well, obviously us being me being one of them, uh, and just to be able to go up there and just talk to the guys about, you know, uh, kind of where I come from and just my story a little bit and just the focus of it all and what we want to accomplish, um, individually, but also this year. And so I'm excited to be with these guys and I'm excited to have the opportunity to play, uh, and be a New York giant, what a, what opportunity it is. And, and, uh, we can make it really special. And I think we have the right guys who are a lot of hard work.

Um, guys are focused on the details of it all and excited, like I said, excited to be here. Okay. Yeah. Right.

All right. Hey, Marco Baletti, Hickey and I just talked about Russell Wilson and where he is most likely to end up as a new public figure in the New York city metropolitan area. We saw Aaron Rogers go on a tour a few years ago. This guy's at Knicks games. He's at Rangers games. He's at Broadway plays. Where do you think outside of sitting front row at a Knicks game is Russell Wilson most likely to end up publicly next?

I think you guys hit it. He's definitely going to go to both ballparks because Russell is definitely, um, diplomatic. So you'll see him in Yankee stadium first, I would think, but he'll definitely be at city field at some point. And I do like Hickey's Alex Rodriguez, sunbathing in central park.

Look, I could see Russell Wilson trying to bring that look back. Oh man. But there is zero chance subway, no chance, none, zero one. There's not doing it. And then two, he can give you the line of, well, you know, they actually play in New Jersey. I don't spend a lot of time here trying to get in and out.

I don't really have time to get on the subway. Oh, he'll give you all the reasons why he's not gonna, except for the fact that I ain't doing that. 99.9% of the players, the teams advised them stay out of Manhattan, like stay in New Jersey. Well, you know what?

I mean, if you want to believe him, I think it was a little bit tongue in cheek, but it's possible he was telling the truth. Eli Manning, apparently his first subway ride was in the last like year. And he said it was in his contract not to ride the subway. I don't know if that's true or not, but it's possible that the Giants were like, you know what, get the hell out of there.

Don't, don't go anywhere near that thing. Yeah, I understand. Well, he lived in Hoboken.

I mean, when he, when he was playing. So he, even he, he lived in New Jersey, but a little bit closer to the city and reasonable. I mean, you don't want these guys on jet skis.

Why, why do you want a guy on the subway for? I get it. That's right. No jet skis, no getting shipped on a platform.

I mean, these are just things, the basic that are written in the bottom of the contract. Yeah. Wow. Russell Wilson. Damn. I was thinking maybe he wanted to be in page six, put his hat down low, little incognito photo of just, Oh my God, Russell Wilson was on the subway.

He's a normal person just like us, but not a chance. You're right. And he's not doing incognito anything. Yeah.

He needs to be seen. Yeah. You're right. You're right.

He'll be on the empire state building at the top in no time. Just taking photos, just par for the course. It's the JR sport brief show here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network, 8 8 8 7 10 4 ISN. That's 8 8 8 7 10 4 ISN. You're listening to the JR sport brief. It is the JR sport brief show here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network.

You just heard the update from Marco Baletti. You know, right now, the Detroit Pistons, they lead the New York Knicks 88 to 75. There's about seven minutes left to go on this game. Detroit Pistons trying to steal a game in New York city heading into tonight. The Knicks have a one Oh, a series lead. The Knicks needed a stretch last game, a big run to walk away with the victory.

A hickey. Is this the same go around? Knicks can't strike twice, right? Detroit's going to win this one.

I would say so. Unfortunately, this does not seem down by 13, seven minutes ago. I don't think we see another 21 0 run to pull it out like they did on Saturday.

Yeah, I don't think so. I think the Pistons are going to walk away with a victory. And then we have another game that's scheduled to get started in about an hour from now. We have the Los Angeles Clippers and the Nuggets. The Nuggets lead that series one to nothing. They had to go to overtime.

Would not be surprised if the Los Angeles Clippers decided to go ahead and tie that series up tonight with a victory as well. We did talk some NFL action before we went to break, took a look at the words of Aaron Rodgers, the New York Jets don't even want to get into a back and forth with, you know, how that situation ended. And then we discussed Russell Wilson, the newest starting quarterback for the New York Giants. For now, it's going to be real interesting to see what the Giants do this upcoming Sunday in Thursday's NFL draft. This is actually a good time to let you know that the NFL draft preview is sponsored by ego tools that deliver or exceed the power and performance of gas without the noise, fuss and fumes for any outdoor challenge. Count on ego tools to deliver the power, performance and innovation.

You need ego power beyond belief. ESPN NFL reporter, Peter Schrader, he tweeted on Sunday that there are two names he thinks will be drafted higher than most mock drafts project. Georgia edge rusher Mikel Williams, shout outs to the Bulldogs down the road for me in Michigan tight end Colston Loveland. Both of these guys have been mocked in the top 20 on average, but they could see their name skyrocket on Thursday night.

There's gonna be a lot of that. I mean, we want to see where the quarterbacks go. I want to see where Ashton gente ends up. I mean, a lot of teams caught just off the top of my head. The Browns, obviously the Titans, what the the Giants do at quarterback, you have the Raiders, are they going to stash away a quarterback, you have the Saints, you could think about the Pittsburgh Steelers, no way in hell the Vikings are going to go for another rookie, they got JJ McCarthy, you'd even play a lick or a minute or a second last year. Hickey, am I am I missing any teams today? Like, those are the teams that are really interesting for QB, right?

Yeah, I really can't add anyone else, at least right now. But yeah, you nailed it. Yeah, I want to see. And of course, everybody wants to see what happens with Chador, who by the way, yes, he did have his number retired over the weekend, alongside Travis Hunter.

And everybody just has to go, Okay, all right, what are we going to do? A lot of people kind of concerned at how fast it took place. Cordell Stewart didn't get his number in. I haven't heard anything from him. Hey, Hickey, Cordell hasn't had no thoughts on this, right? No, I haven't heard anything.

Same, I don't think so. But should I give him credit for taking the high road? So far, at least. Yeah, you're gonna, you're gonna stay out of the mix. It's best for him. Like, what? He doesn't do any good by lobbying or complaining. It's best for him to just not say anything.

Good idea. It's the JR Sportbreeze show on the Infinity Sports Network. It is the end of the show. At the end of every show, I take you through a couple of things that took place this day in sports history. And guess what today will be no different.

So you know what it is Monday, April 21. The year is 2025. Let's go back in time. It's time for this day in sports history.

See, back in those days, we had radio and you couldn't see anything and it was primitive and lousy on the JR Sportbreeze show. I wish I was 50 years younger and I'd kick your ass. It is April 21, 2025. And if we go back in history, let's go back to April 21, 1996. Oh my God, this feels so recent to me. It sucks.

Oh my God. Anyway, 1996, April 21, the Bulls won their 72nd regular season game. At that point in time, it was the best regular season record in NBA history. We know the Golden State Warriors came by, they had 73. But this year in 96, you know what, before we get to a few things else that happened that year, let's take a listen to the, well, this is the final call of the Bills, the Bills.

There's so much going on. The Bulls winning 72 in 96. Gets it back. Lewis back to Price.

No shot. The Chicago Bulls have finished the regular season where they've had such a great year on the road. The Bulls finished the regular season. 72 wins, just 10 losses on the year.

Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls now will move on to the playoffs. Well, that's 72-1 Chicago Bulls team. They went to the postseason. They went 15 and three in the playoffs. They beat the Seattle Supersonics four games to two in the finals. They only lost one other game to the New York Knicks. They swept the Miami Heat in the opening round. And then they lost one game to the Knicks. They went to the Eastern Conference finals. Michael Jordan got some get back against Shaquille O'Neal. They swept the Orlando Magic and then beat Gary Payton's team to win a championship. And then at that point in time, Michael Jordan says, I got 96. I got 97 and 98 against the Jazz.

And the rest is pretty much their history. The Golden State Warriors, well, they won 73 games in 2016, and then they ended up losing in seven games to the Cleveland Cavaliers, that great finals. Yep, that was in 1996. The Bulls won 72 games. Let's hit the fast forward button. April 21st, the year.

I can't believe this is only five years apart. 2001 because, yeah, we were sitting right up on the NFL draft and someone was selected number one overall here in Atlanta. Michael Vick went number one. Let's listen to Michael Vick talk about his biggest fear after being drafted number one overall.

This is what he said on the It Needed to Be Said podcast. But I get drafted number one and the only thing that's that's in my mind is like not becoming a bus. Oh, I've seen so many quarterbacks get drafted in the first round and just like after three years, they labeled a bus. I'm not going to be labeled a guy who made it this far and then couldn't take it a step further. Well, all things considered, was he a bust?

I don't think so. Did he have to serve time for the dogfighting? Yeah, and he was still able to bounce back from that and even add on to his career. God only knows what his his career would have looked like if he didn't have to go away.

Michael Vick, all things overall. Yeah, he was selected number one overall this day in 2001 with 13 full seasons, a four-time Pro Bowler, went to the NFC Championship 04-05, lost to the Eagles at that time and had to spend two years locked up 07-08, finished his career in New York with the Giants and then Pittsburgh, excuse me, the Jetson in Pittsburgh, 2010 Comeback Player of the Year, not a bust. Hickey, not a bust? No, not a bust.

No, no, no. Career unfortunate choices and decisions made by him stopping his career. Michael Vick, not a bust. Also, outside of football, outside of the NFL, video game legend. Hickey, if you picked him in Madden, you just, it's like a cheat code. You're right. He was untackable.

Yeah, we just, just go, just run. And how about this? I didn't know when this record would be broken. Michael Vick, like, led the world in quarterback rushing yards until Lamar Jackson just broke the record. So as it stands right now, Lamar Jackson, 6,173 rushing yards as a quarterback. Michael Vick is 6,109. Michael Vick now number two behind Lamar Jackson. It took some time, took some time. Anyway, those are a few things that took place this day in sports history.

The Bulls win in 72 games, Michael Vick being drafted number one overall in 2001. There we have it. And how about this, Hickey? We said it's unlikely the Knicks are trying to go on a run, now down 90 to 82. You gotta chip away when you get the chance of the opportunity. Just a little bit of a chip away, right? Yeah, I think maybe the comeback in game one could be in the Pistons' head a little bit, crowds getting loud, you know, inexperienced team, crumble under pressure a little bit. Well, they got, well, now 90 to 84, less than five minutes to go. So if they're gonna make a move, then they gotta go ahead and do this now. We got some more news that I've seen here. Maybe the, we talked about this earlier in the show. Nico Iamaliava officially a UCLA Bruin.

Apparently his brother who was playing over at Arkansas is gonna join him as well. You can't make this stuff up. I don't know. Maybe you, I don't know. I don't think the Iamaliavas know what they're doing. I don't think UCLA knows what they're doing. Well, I guess they do. Why you bring on the brother, I guess, but I don't know. Just ridiculous.

Hickey, does this make sense or am I bugging? I'm surprised because in his recruiting, he was committed to UCLA. Then on signing day, flip to Arkansas without telling anybody. And a lot of people will feel like they're kind of backstabbed by this. And so now they're doubling down.

And when you get backstabbed by one brother, might as well bring both back when you can, I guess. Right, JR? Yeah. Double up on the Iamaliavas stuff. Wild, wild stuff.

We'll get into that more tomorrow. Hey, listen, if you missed a minute or a second of the show, go ahead and hit rewind on the free Odyssey app. Thank you so much to Antonio Daniels for joining us.
