It is the JR Sport Brief Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. I'm coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia. Much love and many thanks to everybody tuned in and locked in all over North America. I hope you're safe. I hope you are well. I hope you're great. I'll be hanging out with you for the next three hours. This show gets started every weekday, 6 p.m. Eastern, 3 Pacific.
I'm in Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you to our producer holding things down for us in New York City this afternoon, this evening, Nico Scarlatos. And we've already had a busy first hour of the show. We talked about Jalen Ramsey of the Miami Dolphins. He is soon to be an ex-Miami Dolphin. Apparently both he and the Dolphins, they want to go their separate ways.
They don't want to stick around for the kids. They're ready to call it quits. Meanwhile, we got Travis Hunter, not even in the NFL yet. Travis Hunter says, if I can't play offense, if I can't play defense, then I don't want to play in the NFL. He said he will quit if a team doesn't allow him to do both. And someone who I feel like he acts like he already quit already, Zion Williamson. I mean, he might be moved on.
The Pelicans might move on from him. Or if Joe Dumars takes over, we might tell him to lay off on the just eating everything. I can't even pick out a food. I'm sure he eats everything.
A seafood diet, seafood and eat it. We got so much more to get into. I told you next hour, this is going to be a fun one. We're going to have a chat with FIFA president Gianni Infantino. The Club World Cup is coming here to the United States of America. Eleven cities all over the country. Cincinnati, Los Angeles, here in Atlanta, New York, D.C., Orlando.
There's games all over the place. We'll get some thoughts on Gianni Infantino next hour. It's a big deal. He's like Roger Goodell and Manfred and Adam Silver wrapped up into one. He's a big deal.
Talk about Jackie Robinson Day. We just have a lot to get into. You want to be a part of the show? You can go ahead and do that, too. Here's the phone number. 888-710-4ISN.
That's 888-710-4ISN. You know, we talked so much football and basketball. This is what's going on. Football, basketball, NFL draft next week playing. This is what's hyping people up right now. So we talked about some of the miserable teams that will be playing in a little while. Not too long after, you know, about 30, 40 minutes from now, we'll have the Orlando Magic hosting the Atlanta Hawks. Tonight we'll have the Memphis Grizzlies. They will be taking on the Golden State Warriors out in San Francisco.
So that's that's all good and well. And I did mention to you that tomorrow we're going to have a game that I'm just I'm going to shrug my shoulders about. We have a game that I don't I don't even know if their own fans, if their fans are going to be interested in this game. Because tomorrow night, the Dallas Mavericks will be in Sacramento taking on the Kings in a game that is just one massive. Shrug of the shoulders.
Really, that's it. This is one massive game of who cares that the Sacramento Kings aren't going anywhere. OK, fired Mike Brown.
Everybody was shocked. And I mean, a point guard, De'Aaron Fox is now playing basketball, not playing because he had a hand injury. He's on the Spurs now. Mike Brown is on vacation. Doug Christie. I don't know. I'm not going to make any Doug Christie jokes about his.
There was a point in time where he was being led on a chain outside, but none of my business. Outside of that, the Kings stink. All right. And we all know about the Dallas Mavericks. They traded away Luca Doncic. And they have gone straight to hell in the handbasket, as is to be expected. Come on now.
We just saw what Luca did last week. He rolled into Dallas, Texas. And he said.
Hey, here's 45 for you. Anthony Davis couldn't even what he must have 13 points in that game. And so we heard the owner of the Dallas Mavericks, Patrick Dumont, right after the trade was made, he had the nerve to sit on television. This guy sat down and really said, you know, Luca Doncic doesn't have. The work ethic of a champion we heard at that time from the GM, Nico Harrison, Nico Harrison basically said, hey, we made this move.
Not just for today, but for the future. And he also wanted to say that we need to really make a move on this right now. And then what happened? Of course, Kyrie Irving blew out his knee. Of course, you can't rely on the health of Anthony Davis. I mean, during his debut. This guy had a great game first half and he kind of leaned into the the paint and then went down in a heap without being touched. He pulled his groin. I don't know. Maybe somebody somewhere out there has an Anthony Davis voodoo doll.
But this is this is not not fun at all. And then last week, before they got torched by Luca Doncic and his 45 points. They decided to play almost a three minute tearjerker for Luca, kissing his backside. The fans were picked off that this man was in purple and gold.
They basically played a video that that pretty much highlighted him as the second coming. How great he was for the team and the community took them to an NBA finals. But oh, yeah, by the way, we don't want you. We don't like you.
Like, what are we doing here? Because he's fat. He's out of shape.
He's smoking. They don't think he plays defense. He just took them to a finals.
But they wanted to get him the hell up on out of there. And so here we have it. Just just right on the precipice of a stupid playing game. The Dallas Mavericks going nowhere. The Sacramento Kings going nowhere.
And so what did we get today? Mavs general manager, Nico Harrison. He spoke. That's what GMs do, right? You talk about what took place just last week, the fans were screaming. In the arena, fire Nico, his own hometown fans were basically giving him crap for what he did. And so today he spoke to the media.
And what did he do? And this is I don't want to say a first. But this is I don't want to say childish. I mean, he's afraid.
There were elements of just being soft here. You've got to stand up for your actions. You face the fire. He stood there while he was being yelled at. Fire, Nico, fire, Nico, fire. Imagine going to work and 20,000 people are telling you that you suck.
That might work if you are WWE great Kurt Angle. They chanted this guy sucked all the time, but not for Nico Harrison. That's not what he wants to hear. And so he spoke to the media today. You want to know the rules to hear from the general manager of the Dallas Mavericks?
No phones, no video cameras, no audio recording equipment. What what backwards world are we living in? Like what's going on that you don't want to face the music? What's going on that you don't want to accept any type of accountability? What are we doing here? And if I'm the NBA, Adam Silver has better things to do, like start a Euro league and make money and make more money for the owners. Come on now. Everybody with half a brain is looking at what the Dallas Mavericks are doing.
What type of garbage junk are they doing down there? He basically spit in the face of the franchise. And now when you communicate with the media. And I know the world is a crazy place right now with social media is a lot of confusion. But the traditional media is supposed to be a direct conduit and voice from the team. To the fans, whether you're a Mavericks fan or you're me or you. And to not allow the press conference to be recorded in any way, audio or video.
Is a damn shame. Nico Harrison, the Mavericks CEO, Rick Welts, they held an hour long session today. Listen to this. With a select group of Dallas based media.
OK, a select group. This is what Nico Harrison said. And I guess we only know this because somebody wrote it down. With their hands, people still write with their hands sometimes, not people younger than I don't know. Nico, do you you know how to write or you just use computers? I mean, I know how to write, but it's been a long time. Yeah. It's all on the phone now. Penmanship, good or bad? It's OK, I guess.
Chicken scratch sounds like. OK. This is what someone wrote about what Nico Harrison said today. There's no regrets on the trade.
Here we go. Part of my job is to do the best thing for the Mavericks, not only today, but also in the future. And some of the decisions I'm going to make are going to be unpopular. That's my job. And I have to stand by it.
He continued on and somebody did a lot of writing. Well, the beauty of Dallas is it is a passionate fan base for us to reach our goals. We need that fan base even though they alienated them. And to be honest with you, every trade I've made since I've been here has not been regarded as a good trade. And sometimes it takes time. When I traded for Kyrie, it was met with a lot of skepticism and it was graded as a terrible trade.
And you didn't see it right away. But eventually everyone agreed it was a great trade. When I traded for Gafford in Washington, it was like, oh, he gave up too much.
These guys aren't going to help us. Now, that trade, you saw the evidence a lot sooner. So I think a lot of the times trades take a little bit of time. He then said. Our philosophy, defense wins championships and we are built on defense. And this trade cements that for us. I'll say this again.
This is him. Defense wins. Championships. Oh, my God.
Here we go. This is a final nail. I'm not going to say in his coffin, but he says as well. I think once we win. Then that will change. Your mind.
I have three years left on my contract. I see myself finishing it out. Embarrassing. Like everybody like this is this is this is really just a case. Of just finding a kid in the kitchen. And you know what?
We live in 2025. I know the Dallas Mavericks didn't want anybody recording the session today. But I feel like every now and then you pop open the Internet. It used to be on them shows. America's funniest home videos. Now you got the America's funniest home videos in the palm of your hand. Your kid does something stupid. The next thing you know, your stupid kid is viral.
OK, what did your kid do? Digging in the sugar in the kitchen, making a mess, right? I don't know. Maybe a kid went into the freezer and took out all the ice pops.
I don't know. Maybe they're marshmallows all over your floor. Maybe a kid decided to do the dishes. And now your your kitchen is just it's all type of soapy and study all over the place. We see the instances where you walk into a room after five seconds and your kid. And not to compare your kid to an animal. Well, your kid or your pet has just lost their minds.
Dogs tearing up couches and furniture. We've seen it. You turn the corner. You walk into the room and you witness the damage. And what you see is a child.
Or an animal. Staring right at you. Like they did. Nothing. Filthy. There's a mess. Face covered, floor covered, walls covered, things destroyed.
But the look that you receive. Is that nothing. Took. Place.
In its simplest form. Hey, did you did you take the cookies out the jar? No, I didn't take the cookies. You mean to tell me all them crumbs on your face are not from the cookie? No, I did not take any cookies. The cookies on your face, the crumbs on your hands, the crumbs on the floor, the crumbs on the jar to your face is like a trail. You did not take any cookies.
No. This is what's going on in Dallas with the Mavericks. Like Nico Harrison right now just looks like a toddler.
With his hands stuck in the cookie jar. And all the evidence of a bad move is there. But he is going to stand on everything that he's done. Because you can't go back now. This is like somebody telling a little white lie. You are so deep. You have messed up so damn bad.
You are going to stand on your lie instead of telling the truth, because what's it going to do is just gonna make you look bad. In the case of Nico Harrison and the Dallas Mavericks, they cannot look any worse than you already have. They can't. And so they're going to keep feeding these lies. They're going to keep feeding this crap to their fan base for as long as they can. But the fans are not stupid. You know, I looked at the Kyrie trade and I said, you traded for Kyrie Irving?
Well, you expect this guy to play? And he did. And they ended up going to the finals outside of the first year where they brought him in where things didn't work. They sucked. OK, but it did work. They went to the finals last year.
But you want to know something? It wasn't because of Kyrie Irving. It was because of Luka Doncic. You can sit around and talk about all the trades you made for P.J. Washington and Daniel Gafford.
I got him from Washington, D.C. Who wants anybody from Washington, D.C.? Nobody does. None of those guys are Luka Doncic. None of those guys were playing as a teenager, as a kid. I know somebody called me yesterday and said the college football player. These are these are children. No, no, no, no.
These are these are men. What that guy did, Luka, he played as a teenager. He played as a child. In a grown man's league in Europe, he was their MVP. Luka Doncic came over to the NBA.
It was automatically one of the best players in the league. He's one of the best scorers. He does things he wants. Does he complain too much?
Yes. Apparently, if you ask the Dallas Mavericks, he smokes too much hookah and he drinks too much beer. We get that. He's still young. He's one of the best young players that the NBA as it approaches 80 years of existence. This is not an exaggeration.
This is not hyperbole. Nico Harrison can talk about every trade that he made that people didn't like. There's only one trade that involved one of the greatest young players the league has ever seen. And that's moving Luka Doncic to the Lakers for whatever the hell is left of Anthony Davis's body. And oh yeah, by the way, Kyrie Irving is not playing next year because he tore his ACL. Like things can't look any worse. And so I feel bad for the fans of the Dallas Mavericks because let's face it, you're going to have teams and coaches and GMs that are always going to tell you a lie. This is one of the worst trades ever. There's no fixing this. Oh, yeah, I'm sure one day, one day the Dallas Mavericks will win a championship again.
Let me tell you this. It will have nothing to do with Nico Harrison, because as he said on the day after he made the trade. They may they may kind of bury him, might be buried sooner than later. And hopefully he lives a long life in the hypothetical sense here as being a GM running a team. He is. He's going to get the ax.
It's just a matter of what happens first. Is Anthony Davis going to ask out? Is Kyrie Irving ultimately going to opt out? It's Jason Kidd, who at one point in time, Jason Quid said, I don't want to be the Nets coach. Jason Kidd left. You think Jason Kidd won't leave the Mavs?
And when all of this goes down, unfortunately, I'm not a fortune teller, but I think it's going to happen. What is Nico Harrison going to do next? Either he gets fired. Or he leaves.
I think he might get the boot. It's a shame that they're shoveling this crap to the Mavs fans. They need to get this season over with sooner than later.
Dallas Mavericks are in action tomorrow night in Sacramento. And what ultimately is a I'm going to call it a future funeral game. Because both of these teams, sooner than later, they're just going nowhere.
But to the dirt. Sorry. The JR Sport Reshow here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. Lion teams.
Lion general managers. Phone lines are open. 888-710-4ISN.
That's 888-710-4ISN. We come back on the other side. I do want to tell you about someone. Well, we may not even see him. We may not see him at all in the postseason. I hope he comes back.
I'm not holding my breath on it. And then I do want to tell you about someone in the NFL. His days might be done in Baltimore. He dropped a key pass in the postseason. I'll tell you about both of these players on the other side of the break. You're locked in to the JR Sport Reshow on the Infinity Sports Network.
It is the JR Sport Reshow here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. Right before we went to break, we talked about the disaster that is the Dallas Mavericks. And apparently their general manager, Nico Harrison, he has decided to double down on his thoughts that, hey, we don't need Luca and that this trade will ultimately work out. And at that, I kind of scoff. I'm like, hell no. Like, this is crap. This is not happening.
It's shoveling everybody a whole lot of you know what. Anyway, enough about them. Let's talk about a team that I did mention. And we don't know if we're going to see this star player.
And this happens to be Damian Lillard of the Milwaukee Bucks, Milwaukee Bucks. They don't have to deal with none of this playing nonsense today. None of this playing nonsense tomorrow. The Milwaukee Bucks, who happen to be the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference. They're going to take on the Indiana Pacers, who happen to be the fourth seed.
That series gets started this upcoming Saturday. Damian Lillard has been gone since last month. The Milwaukee Bucks pretty much said that he is he has a blood clot in his leg.
Now, we learned earlier this season that a future star, current star, bright star in the league. And Victor when Benyama unfortunately suffered a blood clot in his arm and his shoulder. And they shut him down. They put him on blood thinning medication. It was nice to see him in Houston attending the Final Four, sitting right next to like him a lot.
You want that was good. Hopefully we see him back on a basketball court. And so when you heard that Damian Lillard went down and he's out indefinitely, I kind of had to go. Is he really going to play like they had no clarity? He might be able to come back this season. I guess they didn't want to just completely shut the door on a return.
But it just didn't seem likely. He was averaging about twenty five points a game and in addition to seven assists. And he went down and, well, surprisingly, the Milwaukee Bucks, they went on a little bit of a search. They went ten and four without Damian Lillard. They finished the season on an eight game winning streak.
Now, let's be real. When the Milwaukee Bucks acquired Damian Lillard, it was thought that they would be out here competing for a championship that this combination between Lillard and Giannis would not be fine. And then they still took some time to get used to each other.
Man, they went through head coaches and it did not look good. Even now, as Damian Lillard continues to, well, not get any younger, he's 34 years old. It sounds crazy. Giannis is now on the other side of 30 years old.
I don't I don't know how much juice this combination has. And this is pretty much what Giannis Atteracumpo asked for. He wanted some help. Damian Lillard wanted to end up in Miami. He's now a member of the Bucks. And now he got a blood clot in his leg. What we heard today. What a shocker from Doc Rivers.
It's very simple, very straightforward. He doesn't know. They don't know if Damian Lillard will be back at all for this entire series against the Pacers. Well, I mean, we're hopeful, you know, like we're just following the protocols until we'll see. You know, but we don't know yet. We do not know. No, no.
Following the protocol. We're not going to see him in the first round. I mean, a guy is just going to come off of a blood clot. It is going, hey, man, just go play like with no conditioning. I expect to not see Damian Lillard unless the Milwaukee Bucks go on a deep run where they can actually, I don't know, maybe put him through a practice.
Get his conditioning up to par. This doesn't bode well. I mean, I'm not counting on Kyle Kuzma, you know, next to Giannis Intercumple for the Milwaukee Bucks to win a championship. And let's also be clear here. Was there any thought that they were going to win a title this year anyway?
It kind of old and then it kind of beat up. I mean, nobody expects a blood clot. But this is what's going on with Damian Lillard. And so Doc Rivers, he continued on. And it was a matter of, well, how you going to win anything if you don't have him out there? At least we've had, you know, a long stretch with without him. Scoots been able to come in and help.
Ryan Rollins has played great. And, you know, we've kind of changed the way we play a little bit with Giannis having the ball more. So at least we've had more time to adjust to it.
Man. You can have more time. I mean, if I feed you bread every day, you got no other choice, man. You just might adjust to it. That don't mean it's going to it's going to taste better.
That doesn't mean that it's going to be better for you. There's no adjustments. The Milwaukee Bucks are cooked with no Damian Lillard. And it's unfortunate. Like this is what happens in the postseason. This is what happens in the playoffs. I don't want to say being healthy is a little bit of luck, but if you don't have all of your players out there.
If you don't have the ability to actually look through what's in front of you and look at what's in front of you and have a full slate of players you you're done for. I don't see none coming out of the Bucks. I don't care who they go out there and bring off of the bench.
You can forget it. Nico, do you do you see the Milwaukee Bucks doing anything with Lillard? I feel like they're a good team, but it just stops being good.
There ain't no championship good. I mean, they've gone on a nice winning streak here going into the postseason, so I think there's a chance if they continue to play the way they have. And like Doc Rivers, we heard him say they haven't had Lillard during this winning streak anyway, so I don't think it's impossible. But I see why why you would think that it's not likely because they certainly are a better team when Dame is on the floor.
Oh, well, yeah. I mean, I'm not everything is possible. Would you bet money on them winning a championship without Damian Lillard? Definitely not. No. Well, there you have it. It's not that complicated to me like anybody could anything could happen, right? I could walk outside and accidentally stumble upon, you know, one thousand dollars is possible, right? Nico is possible. Yeah, that's true.
Is it likely to happen when I walk out the studio? No, no. Milwaukee Bucks. I mean, I'm not going to put them in the same category of the these playing teams that we're going to witness.
Like, for instance, in about five, 10 minutes from now, the Atlanta Hawks are going to be playing the Magic. Them teams ain't winning the playoffs. I'd bet every dime I have and every dime that I don't that neither one of these teams tonight are going to win a championship. And so, yeah, of course, the the Bucks have a slightly better chance. Man, but we need some other teams to completely hit the skids.
We would need some other teams to completely end up in the dirt. And that that I don't believe is is going to happen. We'll see. I feel like Giannis and they keep saying it. Giannis keeps saying it over and over again. If we're bad, I'm not going to leave. They're going to have to push me out. That's not my DNA.
And I believe him. But there may come a point in time where they look at him and just go. OK. Do you want to stick around? Because we might need to move you if we want to improve.
And I Giannis may actually be one of those players that are Tim Duncan, ask and Steph Curry, ask. I could see him sticking around in Milwaukee his entire career. I could also see a scenario where it's just like, well, we're in between a rock and a hard place if we want to get better and rebuild. We're going to have to move you. What do you think? And at that point, he may say, you know what, if you want this, then then I'll just go.
Take that time and point may come sooner than later. So hard knock life out here. It's the J.R. sport re-show coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. If you want to go ahead and call me up, you can go ahead and do that. Eight, eight, eight.
Seven, ten, four, I S and that number again, if you want to call me eight, eight, eight, seven, ten, four, I S and we come back on the other side. But Damian Lillard, well, we may not see him again the rest of the season, blood clot in his leg. I'm going to tell you about the NFL player who might be done with his current team. He's on the Ravens. No, it's not Lamar. It's one of the guys that he throws the ball to.
I feel you went on the other side. It is the J.R. sport re-show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. How about this? First playing game of the NBA.
I don't know what the heck we call it. First playing game for 2025 is already underway down in Orlando. Atlanta has a slight lead over the Hawks.
Nine to eight. Four minutes have gone by here to open up the game. You ain't get no updates on this game. You know, every second, every minute that ain't happening. So we'll get you an update at halftime.
We'll get you an update if anything crucial should happen. And as I mentioned earlier on in the show, the big game and matchup that people really should probably want to see are two good teams out west. That is later tonight when the Memphis Grizzlies go into San Francisco and take on the Golden State Warriors. That that should be a good one.
That should be a fun one. Unfortunately, right before we went to break, you heard it for myself. You all started from Rich Ackerman. It doesn't appear that Damian Lillard is going to be ready to go here in the first round of the playoffs as the Milwaukee Bucks get ready to take on the Indiana Pacers. That's bad news.
And now I've got to hit the fast forward button just a little bit. If we move forward to September, the start of the NFL season. There's a stalwart that has been a member of the Baltimore Ravens pretty much since Lamar Jackson got there and Mark Andrews.
We don't know his status going into the future. Mark Andrews, three time Pro Bowler. He's been a Baltimore Ravens since 2018. And unfortunately for Mark Andrews, the last time we saw him out on a football field, the Buffalo Bills beat the Baltimore Ravens 27 to 25. The Ravens missed out on a chance and an opportunity to advance to the conference championship game to take on the Kansas City Chiefs. But you might recall when Mark Andrews, he dropped a two point conversion that would have tied the game with about 90 seconds remaining.
He dropped the ball. That wasn't the only reason why they lost. Baltimore had three turnovers in that game. You just can't look at the the end and just go, well, that's the reason why they lost. It's one of the reasons that they lost. It's the most memorable reason that they might have lost.
But it's not the only one. I mean, people have a tendency not to look at the full 60 minutes of a game, but to just look at the moment, the moments that are our crunch time, like everything else all of a sudden is irrelevant. And Mark Andrews basically went into, well, in the world we live in today, he went into a deep, dark hole, not like an Aaron Rodgers deep, dark hole. Nico, do we know where Aaron Rodgers is right now? Is he thinking about football? Is he in Portland? What's he doing? Drinking funny juice? What's he doing?
If I'm being honest, I don't know if I even want to know. Oh, my goodness. Are you sick of Aaron Rodgers, too? Yeah, just a tad bit. OK. Do you think he's going to play? Do you think he's not going to go on? I mean, I think he should give it another shot as much as the Jets season was a failure last year.
I don't know if he necessarily was the reason why they failed. So I'd like to see him in that Steelers offense with D.K. Metcalf now there. You never know what could happen. You never know.
Seems as though I'm on the more optimistic side of things. Well, well, I think he is going to end up I don't I don't believe Aaron Rodgers wants to go out the way that he went out. So I think he is going to end up with the Steelers. And who knows, maybe he tries to suck the life out of the NFL draft next week and make his decision known on Thursday.
That would be a very Aaron Rodgers thing to do. I feel strongly that outside of the draft next Thursday, we are going to have some news that comes down the pipe. I don't know if it's going to be a trade. We talked earlier in the show about Jalen Ramsey moving on from the Miami Dolphins. They say they're not moving off from Tyreek Hill. I get what happens with Kirk Cousins and that may not even get resolved. But I think we're going to get some piece of news on Thursday.
Is Brock Purdy going to get his new contract? Something is going to happen outside of, you know, these new players coming in to the league, but not knowing what Aaron Rodgers is doing. We don't know what's going to happen with Mark Andrews, because earlier today, Eric DaCosta, who's the general manager of the Baltimore Ravens, he spoke. And he pretty much said, quote, when it comes to Mark Andrews specifically, is he going to be back with the team? I never know what's going to happen. And I would never want to say this or that.
But I can tell you this. Mark Andrews is a warrior. He's played his butt off us. Well, that's that's not exactly enthusiastic. I don't know. Is he looking for a contract, a restructure?
I mean, it's certainly possible. Mark Andrews is entering into the last year of his contract. He's Lamar Jackson's escape hatch. Lamar Jackson is looking around the field. He's running, he's running, he's running. He basically goes, where's Mark Andrews? He goes, there he is. And he throws him a dime right in the middle of the field. And for people who maybe have forgotten, like Lamar Jackson has improved as a passer in the league. And I don't care.
You might recall this. They brought on DeAndre Hopkins. Onto the Baltimore Ravens. OK, you still have Isaiah likely as the other tight end. So it's not like, you know, all of a sudden Mark Andrews is gone and they don't have weapons. But when you are running almost, I don't want to call it a power offense, it's based on Lamar Jackson.
They are rushing and running the football. The wide receivers are not the first line of, oh, let's just go ahead and and pay them all attention. I would think that you would want to keep on just this most reliable weapon that he's had on the team since he's been drafted. And so I think this is just a matter of posturing. I don't think you can just all of a sudden dump Mark Andrews unless they know something that we don't. He's fallen off a cliff. And I mean, if you're going to call the guy a warrior, certainly if you want to move on for him or maybe even get something in return, you're not going to beat him up in the court of public opinion.
You're going to want people to want him so you can get something back. Rashad Bateman, Zay Flowers played very well last year. But to let Mark Andrews go, I just think would be a mistake.
And I mentioned he went into that that dark hole. He dropped that pass. We didn't hear anything from Mark Andrews. It took like a week for him to respond and he had to write a statement about how awful he feels and and this and that.
And he got beat up either way. What took you so long to answer? Well, you saw like what are we doing? And it's nothing but lame individuals on the Internet who have anything better to do than to whine and complain about every single thing. If Mark Andrews went on social media immediately and just said, my bad.
Well, of course, it's your bad. They would have ripped in the shreds. Mark Andrews decided to wait.
Well, why did you wait so long? Like there's there's no middle ground. And for a man who's been a multiple time pro bowler and this has helped them ascend to the space that they're in right now. Can we just can we give the guy a break? As Mark Andrews, he dropped the pass on a playoff game.
Is is this career now going to fall off of a cliff or does he have the pass catching yips? I remember there was a point in time where Chuck Knoblauch. This guy was a great second baseman in Major League Baseball. Gold Glover, the Minnesota Twins, Gold Glover with the New York Yankees, and then things got in between his ears. If you were sitting on the first base line.
And this is before they put up these nets that I hate so much, but I guess baseball needs the nets when the baseballs are going into the stands one million miles per hour. Mark Knoblauch would get the ball at second base. He would attempt to throw the ball to first base.
And he was beating people in the head. He could not throw the ball from second to first. What is a routine play? I wouldn't even make that bad of a throw to first base. He's throwing the ball into the stands. So I think we all know when it comes down to professional athletes.
If you got the bug in between your ears, it doesn't just go away like that. There's a huge mental aspect of the game. How mentally strong are you? We talked to some of the athletes we discussed today. You know, Luka Doncic early in the hour, Nico Harrison saying, oh, defense wins championships. Well, I look at Luka, amazing player. He can carve you up and destroy you. His composure, I'm less concerned about his defense.
I'm more worried about his composure. Shut up. And nobody complains more in the NBA than Luka Doncic.
You want to talk about in between your ears getting to you? We heard Rory McIlroy admit yesterday that not winning the Masters every single year ate at him. He publicly admitted that he did not believe that he can go out there and do it. We have other cases.
I mean, I gave you Chuck Knoblauch. Let's look at Ben Simmons, who's actually playing basketball for the Los Angeles Clippers. We're going to see Ben Simmons in the playoffs. What? Ben Simmons at six foot 10 was afraid to shoot a layup with six foot one Trae Young on him because he didn't want to be fouled and go to the free throw line where he would be embarrassed. So let's keep that in mind.
These might be multimillionaires and these athletes are making tons and tons and tons and tons of money. But we can't ignore the fact that money doesn't buy you confidence. Money doesn't doesn't buy you a different mind frame. You can try to get one. But if you don't feel good about what you're doing.
You're just out of luck. And I just hope for Mark Andrews say that the Baltimore Ravens haven't looked at him and said, oh, this guy dropped the pass. He's not what he used to be. And so let's just go out there and give him the boot. And for a guy like Lamar Jackson, who seems pretty comfortable with how he's grown in the offense all around him, I would not tinker with that unless the Ravens think that he is completely cooked. I don't think that's the case. I think Lamar Jackson just has other weapons he can get the ball to. And if you are, you know, Mark Andrews, you shouldn't necessarily be judged on your worst possible moment. Get get get over it just a little bit. I hope that's not the case with Mark.
Hope he comes back to the Ravens. It's the J.R. sport we show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. Eight eight eight seven ten for ISN. That's eight eight eight seven ten for ISN. You know what? Today is April 15th.
