That's all that matters. Listen for five minutes, 10 minutes, for three, whatever. I'm here for four hours. I get started at 10 p.m. Eastern, 7 Pacific.

Much love to you or mine. Door dashers, Uber drivers, truck drivers, Amazon drivers, UPS, FedEx, people working at the airport, people at the factory, people at the bar, the restaurant. People are shutting down the restaurants right now, some of them. Somebody's on their smoke break right now. Somebody's in the back of an Uber. Tip the Uber driver good or a Lyft.

Tip them. Somebody's just driving. They just driving on the road, on a road trip. Somebody's sick of their wife. Somebody's sick of their husband.

Somebody's trying to forget about their problems in life. And they just listening to me. Congratulations. I'm here with you, too. Anyway, if you want to talk to me, forget about your problems. You can talk to me.

I'm here for you. It's 855-212-4CBS. That's 855-212-4CBS. I'm being joined by super producer and host Dave Shepherd. He's coming to you live from New York City, where it was 90 degrees today. What the hell is that about? What in the global warming is this? 90 degrees in... What is it?

Thursday, April 13th. Hey, Shep, it's 90 in New York today. So what does that mean? It's going to be like 50 tomorrow, right? That's exactly what that means. I will take 90 any day of the week, JR.

It was incredible. What did you do? Work?

Work. You know it. You know that all too well. You were in air conditioning all day. Good for you.

Well, I have a dog, so I'm always going to get outside regardless. Caught up with an old friend, man. Yeah, we miss you. When's the next time you come to New York, speaking of which? I was in New York yesterday. You know, I saw that. I saw that photo.

That's right, man. I was in New York. I was just there.

It was 85 degrees. So appreciate you stopping by and saying hi. Thank you. I'm not here for... I wasn't there for a good time or a long time. It was just a good time. You got a lot of friends you got to catch up with and family.

I totally get that. I didn't see nobody. I just showed up and left.

Really? Yeah, I didn't see anybody. I was just there and I left. I'm sorry. It would have been nice to have you. It would have been. What can I say?

Anyway, I'll be back soon. Where's New York? New York's not going anywhere. It's not. Neither is the rent prices.

Oh, well, the place... Why is the rent so high? Everything is empty, right? No.

Oh, no, no. I mean, once the pandemic was essentially done in many people's eyes, people flocked back to the Big Apple in droves. I thought people are leaving... What is it, a sham? Every article says people are leaving New York City at a record pace. No, that's not true at all.

It's not? Nope. Well, who's moving to New York?

Everybody. The people who want to be in show business, is that what it is? Show business, tech, finance, entertainment, theater.

Every genre known to man and women kind, people want to be here. They need to hire you for the new slogan. It's no longer, I love New York.

Is it, we love New York? Or they, depending on your beliefs. Sure, right? Wait, wait, wait, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, wait a minute. Yes, sir. It's not, but it's they?

No, it's we love New York. Correct. No, I was just trying to be cute with that. With the they? Yeah. Hey, don't confuse me now. I see some things now. Don't confuse me.

Deal. The way the city is going, they is going to become a slogan at some point. Why? Because everybody is a they now? Yeah, because of pride. Yeah.

All right. They love New York. Well, me too. I love New York. I love New York so much. I'm not there no more.

Good for me. Anyway, shout out to all my folks in New York. Hey, we just had Marty call from Westchester, New York. Thank you, Marty. We appreciate you.

I'm here in Georgia. Last night, I wasn't here on air. I heard Shep did an amazing job, as he should. When Shep is on, you should listen, damn it, all the time. Weekends, right, Shep?

Yes, weekends, Sunday, 2 to 6 a.m. Eastern time, every single week. Correct. Good. Yeah, listen to Shep. He's here with me now.

He's here on a weekend. Look, something I heard last night, because I did check in on this basketball game. It was the Chicago Bulls, in Toronto, beating the Raptors, 109-105.

And the game wasn't the biggest story. Coming out of the game, the biggest story in the whole game was Damar DeRozan's nine-year-old daughter, Diar. She's sitting behind the basket, and every single time, and she got a blessing. She was blessed from her father, her school, whatever. She missed school. She was at the game last night.

We all know this. Damar DeRozan's story career up in Toronto, probably going to retire his number. And every time a Toronto Raptor took a free throw, there were 36 of them that they took.

She was out there screaming. A matter of fact, the Toronto Raptors missed half of their free throws. If they would have hit just a few more, they would have won the game. They choked the game away.

Okay? The Bulls bounced back from being down 19 points. In the fourth quarter alone, the Raptors missed six free throws.

Let me remind you, they were at home, but maybe his daughter psyched them out. She garnered so much attention that even ESPN made her the star of the program. Take a listen to this. That is the daughter of Damar DeRozan. And here's the voice you're hearing when Raptors shoot.

She's screaming. That time it didn't work. Hey, it's the thought that counts. Trying to help daddy out.

Oh man, it was, I'm not going to say it's cool. I mean, if you're sitting behind her, you just, you want to tell her to shut up. You can't do that though. She's nine years old. You just got to let her scream. You out. Oh my God. That was blood curdling.

Just, just don't do that again. That was crazy. Wow. Could you imagine sitting behind that for a game?

Oh my God. And so after the game, Zach LaVine helped lead the way. He had 39 points total, 17 in the third. He had another 13 points in the fourth quarter. Damar DeRozan returns home. He has 23 points. And now the bulls will play in Miami tomorrow night.

We'll have the bulls at the heat. Damar was asked about this after the game. It's like, Hey man, did you, did you know your daughter was out there screaming her lungs out, trying to distract the team? And he's like, well, yeah, I found out. Listen, man, I just seen it as she would show a viral. She, she went viral. She, now I haven't let it soak in yet. Nobody keeps saying, you know, but that's her.

I kept hearing some, um, during the game and it was one free throw. Some, somebody missed and I looked back and I was like, damn, that's my daughter screaming. I'm just making sure she was all right though.

Yeah. It's already been reported that she will not be in Miami for the next game, screaming at Jimmy Butler or Kyle Lowry. She's going to be where most nine-year-olds belong at school and sorry. And this was a great comeback. Maybe they should bring her back in. Listen to the final call when it was all said and done. This was a big comeback for the Chicago Bulls. This is courtesy of the Bulls radio network from last night. See a triple drive holding and looking the good event fleet, double pump leaves. No put back by Siakam.

No bull game over Bulls win Bulls win Bulls win Bulls, Virgin Toronto and capture Canada. And we're heading to Miami. Yeah.

They're heading to Miami, but his daughter DR is not. And even Zach Levine after the game, when, you know, walking through the tunnel, going back to the locker room, you know, he congratulated her, uh, for, for her contributions and helping the team win. Even though by himself, Zach Levine decided to drop 30 points in the second half of last night's game and Billy Donovan.

Yeah. It's easy to forget about Billy Donovan. I still think about him as going back with the Gators, not here with the Bulls, but Billy Donovan, he said, yeah, our team pretty resilient.

I give them a lot of credit. You know, when in that game getting down like that and having the toughness to continue to fight, to get back into the game, I think we maybe cut it to nine at the fourth. And, you know, I thought the defense was really good. Zach really got going offensively there in the second half. Um, you know, we made plays, we helped each other.

Okay. I don't know how it was. I mean, were they resilient last night?

Yeah, they were. Well, they resilient in the seat. Hell no. I feel bad for the, well, I don't feel bad for the organization. I don't feel bad for the team. I don't feel bad for one of their players.

I feel bad for their fans. Like the Chicago Bulls, they're going nowhere. DeMar DeRozan, Zach Levine, Nikola Vucevic, they're not going anywhere. I do feel bad for, uh, Lonzo. Lonzo Ball. Like how many times they got to cut this man's knee open before he can go back and play basketball?

He's on what, his third knee surgery, just so he can hopefully play next year? Like, they're going to have to just implode, not, not, yeah, implode, not, they got to put something down into the United Center and just blow this whole damn team up because they're not going anywhere. They could beat Miami tomorrow for all. I know they could, they could, they really could. Especially if the Miami Heat played basketball like they did against the Atlanta Hawks.

Bam Adebayo has to show up like he likes his job. Kyle Lowry can't beat a dude leading away with 33 points. Chicago very well might beat them, but Chicago ain't going anywhere. Whoever wins this game whoever wins this game tomorrow will have an opportunity at the Bucks.

And what are they going to do? Get smacked. I had a few Miami Heat fans call me the other day. Oh, they match up well against the Bucks. Okay, fine. Okay.

All right. Call me when, call me when they beat them. If the Miami Heat beat the Bulls tomorrow, call me when they beat the Bucks. I don't see it happening. Gee, I wonder what happened in the last series, JR, when they played the Bucks in the playoffs.

I wonder. What's that got to do with now? They got swept. They're not a good match up for the Bucks. I don't know what people in Miami are thinking.

They just think they're, you know, living on the past for God's sakes. They're living on a bubble finals. Right. That's it. That's it. And Spoe won with LeBron James.

Congratulations. Everyone wins with LeBron, including David Blatt. Now, where is he? Is he back in Israel?

I don't know. I don't know if anyone knows where David Blatt is these days, but the point is... No, he's probably coaching in Israel. And JR, you talk about an organization that prides itself on rebounds. Riley had that famous saying, rebounds equal rings. I mean, to get out rebounded by one individual on the offensive glass by an entire team, Clint Coppella out rebounded all of them. And they're talking about playing the Bucks? Come on.

Yeah. Clint Coppella doesn't have, hey, just blocked shots and 21 rebounds the other day. Hey, good luck and congratulations to the Miami Heat. I don't care who comes out of this series or not this series, but this final playing game tomorrow, you're cooked. The Bulls or the Miami Heat, just enjoy the season.

It's about to be done in about a week's time. Whoever should go out there and advance anyway. And I would have certainly loved to hear DeMar DeRozan's daughter.

That would have been fun to witness in Miami, but we won't. And so she will be, well, she has gone viral. She was all over the news. She was all over the internet. And we heard her screaming like a complete nut. Yeah, like that.

It happened to be a little girl. Hey, good luck to the Bulls. I hope they come out on top for the only reason that I want to hear his daughter's screaming in Chicago. Yeah. I want to see more Chicago Bulls games. That's it.

Congratulations. And Miami, they ain't going anywhere either. Eventually they're going to have to blow that team up. 8-5-5-2-1-2-4 CBS.

That's 8-5-5-2-1-2-4 CBS. Hey, we got Billy. He's calling from New York City.

You're on the JR Sport Brief Show. What's up, Billy? Hey, Billy, you live?

Yeah. You there? I am here and so are you. What's up? Hey, man.

How's it going? Let's talk a little bit about the Knicks. The New York Knicks? Yeah, the New York Knicks.

Okay, go for it. What's up? Not the playoffs. Let's talk about the off season. Like we have like this good nucleus of young players, right? And then we have six draft picks through the 2027 seasons.

We can't incorporate that many young players onto our team. Like who do you think the next star is going to be that we're going to go after? I don't know. It'll be the next star that happens to be available. Will it be a Damian Lillard? Will it be a Carl Anthony Towns?

That's kind of the next thing. I don't know. We see NBA players change their minds so much and so often. I can give you the obvious names.

I wouldn't and I just did. I wouldn't be stating anyone that you're not already familiar with. So, it's just who's available? What the New York Knicks will be willing to give up? You know, RJ Barrett and OB Toppin are likely, you know, two dudes who will probably be moved if the Knicks are to bring in a star. But you are correct. And the Knicks are in a good space but they they have another level that they're not going to be able to go to. But they they have another level that they can go to. So, and they're still building.

I give them credit for not being hot garbage like they've been for a good amount of time. Well, I appreciate it. Thank you. No problem, Billy.

Good luck to you. In New York yesterday, I ran into Shep. I ran into Mikel Bridges. Really? Just outside walking his dog.

Just walking the dog. He's not an NBA player, right? The reason I say that is because he actually plays every single game. Okay, the joke fell flat. That's a unique way of looking at it. Yeah, well, you know what, in all seriousness. How many guys played every game this year? Eight?

Not a lot. Kavon Looney might have been one of them. JR, I will say this. What? He has proven that he can be a number one or at worst a number two guy on a championship contending franchise. The Suns are going to regret this move by the way.

Maybe, maybe not. He's a vocal point of any offense for decades to come and they're going with a one or two year rental that might have two years left of great basketball left. The problem is between him and CP3, they're not going to be able to stay healthy. To be seen. If you're trying to go for a ring right now, you're better served obviously having Kevin Durant than Mikel Bridges.

To be seen. That's not to say that Chris Paul is out of the door and now Devin Booker and Bridges are leading the way. He has a chance and an opportunity to shine and do what he's doing now because he has the freedom to. Not to say that that would have been the case if he were to just stay in in Phoenix for the long run and so we'll see what happens with the Brooklyn Nets over this series against the Philadelphia 76ers. That'll start over the weekend. I did wish him luck in his series.

I don't know if they're going to win it though. I expect Joel Embiid to be dunking all over the damn place. It's the JR Sport Brief Show here with you on CBS Sports Radio 855-212-4CBS.

That's 855-212-4CBS. You know, this is crazy. I just told you that the Toronto Raptors got bounced at home and the biggest story was Damar DeRozan's daughter yelling at everybody. But the thing is, the Toronto Raptors, they may get blown up faster than anybody else.

Their season is done and a coach might leave. I'm going to get to your calls on the other side. We'll talk about Nick Nurse. I do want to talk some baseball, especially as it comes down to alcohol sales. Ja Morant is countersuing the 17-year-old that he allegedly, well not allegedly, that he beat up.

We got a lot more to get to. I'm going to start with your calls on the other side and tell you about all these other stories. It's the JR Sport Brief Show on CBS Sports Radio. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief on CBS Sports Radio. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief on CBS Sports Radio.

They appreciate your show and the way you are and there's a reason you are where you are. Thank you, bud. Call in now at 855-212-4CBS. It's the JR Sport Brief Show on CBS Sports Radio. 855-212-4CBS.

That's 855-212-4CBS. If you're on the phones or if you're on hold right now, I'm going to get you on momentarily. So don't you worry about it. We'll also get into this situation with Ja Morant now countersuing the young man who has he on his property and then he beat him up. We'll get into that. I do want to talk about this new MLB rule.

Well, not rule. We have quite a few teams changing up of their approach to alcohol sales. So we'll get into that. Earlier on in the show we talked about the Washington commanders.

So we have more to do. Odell was introduced today to the Ravens, the fans and all the media. But right before we went to break, we talked about the Chicago Bulls beating the Raptors last night, 109 to 105.

DeMar DeRozan's daughter was the star there screaming her ass off. But the Toronto Raptors there, they're done. Like they go home and they have question marks, quite a few question marks moving into the offseason.

And I personally believe that this group, it's a young group. I never saw like full potential in them. Fred Van Vliet, Gary Trent Jr., Jakob Pertl. Like these dudes can be unrestricted free agents come this July. And then you have a similar situation with Oji Ananobi and Pascal Siakam next year. And Siakam, you can run around and say, oh my God, he's an all-star.

He's whatever, he puts up numbers, but he's not a difference maker. Scotty Barnes, I don't know what the hell he's developing into. And so Nick Nurse, who's been an assistant here in Toronto since 2013, he replaced Dwayne Casey after Casey got the boot.

Must I remind you, Dwayne Casey won coach of the year, got the boot. Kawhi Leonard comes in, they win the championship in 2019. They have a good season the following year, but then after that, they're just treading, treading water at like 500. They had a losing season, but for the most part, they've been, they've been average. I couldn't tell you the Raptors identity. And so there has been speculation, especially over the past few weeks where Nick Nurse basically said, yeah, man, I got to get through this year and then we'll see what happens.

And after last night's L, Nick Nurse said, yeah, this loss sucked. They played tough. I thought again, for the most part, they, they did a good job of trying to share the basketball and, you know, make the right plays on offense. Yeah, just, just a tough one, man. I feel bad for them. I think they tried, I think they tried and played really hard.

Well, you can go out there and try. That's fine. Nick Nurse also had the answer of questions and he comments it on whether or not all the speculation surrounding him, you know, made it difficult for the team last night. This is what Nick Nurse had to say. The speculation of whether I was going to be back or not that started, I have no idea where that comes from, right? Or, or what, or what I was supposed to do about that, right? And what I thought was I needed to try to get the team or any of the players or anybody focused back on the job at hand, right? And try to not have to answer that question every game, you know, started coming in, you know, I started coming one after another after another and I was trying to put it to bed and so we could focus on the season. Again, it's part of it, right? I mean, I think it's part of it.

There's, there's lots of teams that go through that and, and got to handle it the way you best see fit and that's what I tried to do. You kind of opened the door to all the questions. I did or you guys did. On Friday, when you brought it up like that, it opened the door to a lot of this stuff.

I'm just wondering, like, do you regret that? Not at all. I mean, I think the door got opened weeks before, right? No, you, you brought it up yourself, bro. When you start talking about, you know, we'll see at the end of the season, man, you doing that.

Like part of the job of the head coach is to go out there and just limit distractions, not, not open things up to more. Let's run around and talk about all the potential free agents on the team for the final month of the season and then you tell me whether or not that's a pain in the ass. Nobody wants to sit around and think about whether or not, man, am I going to be playing in Toronto next year? Am I in Dallas? Am I getting traded?

Am I going to be on vacation? Like you want to show up to work without distractions. That's, that's what anybody wants to do. And it's a part of the job for a professional athlete, not for the coach to come out and be, Oh, we don't, we don't know what's going to happen. I don't know what I'm going to do next. Yeah, you're right.

They didn't ask you what you want to eat for dinner tomorrow, but to continue, or at least open up speculation that you're going to be gone. Why y'all already sitting ducks. So I guess it didn't matter for Toronto. And now they got vacation. Good for them. And soon the Chicago bulls will probably be there as well.

Let's see what they can do against the heat. 8 5 5 2 1 2 4 CVS. That's 8 5 5 2 1 2 4 CVS. JT is calling from Chicago. You're on the JR sport reef show. Go ahead, JT. Hey, JR, man. Thanks for taking my call, bro. Great show.

Love listening to you. Hey, so check it out. Big, huge bulls fan, been living in Chicago my whole entire life about 40.

So obviously, you know, seeing the glory days and benders on that. So yeah, with this bull's team, man, like I went into last night's game, pretty much thinking that they're probably not going to win. And if they do and go to Miami, I'm still thinking they're probably not going to win that game. Even if they do, we're going to play Milwaukee. It's going to be a gentleman's sweep.

We lose them five off season. What do you think, JR? If I could just make it short, what are these guys going to do in the off season with their quote, unquote, big three, you know, long toe ball list, defense, you know, him and Cruz, the whole deal. It's just, what are we doing here? I don't understand what these bulls are going to be doing. And I just want to get your take on it if I could, JR. Thank you, bro. No doubt about it.

Well, thank you, JT, for calling from Chicago. Look, Nikola Vucevich is done. Like his contract is pretty much off the books at the end of this season. Zach Levine is always a candidate to be moved just because of his youth. And then you have DeMar DeRozan that I think he's going to be in the final year of his deal next season as well. So he's going to be a candidate to be moved.

If not in the off season, I would certainly believe by the time we pull up to the NBA trade deadline, who wouldn't want a professional and not just in a basketball or business sense, or excuse me, not just in a business sense, but in a basketball sense like DeMar DeRozan. You know exactly what you're going to get from this dude. He's going to kill it from the mid range. He's going to go to the basket. He's going to show up.

There's not going to be a lot of nonsense. He's the type of dude that you would want as a secondary or third scorer on a championship team. And so the Bulls, they about to get blown up too. I'm sorry. They can't do this for too much longer. How they decide to move forward and who they bring in, I think things are going to get worse for the Bulls before they get better. Enjoy the ride right now. Enjoy the playoffs. Enjoy the games.

I don't think we're going to see a lot of these dudes on the team by the time we are in this spot a year from now. Josh is calling from here in Atlanta. You're on the JR Sport Brief Show. What's up, Josh? Hey, JR. What's up, man? Repping with you down here in the A. What's up? Hey, listen.

So just real quick on that. That little girl is screaming in the background. I tried to relay that to like my job. And if I'm making a phone call and say it's a sales call and she starts screaming like that right when I get on the phone, not only am I losing the deal, I'm changing careers, dude. That's just screaming. Yeah. No, no, no. You want to hear it again?

Please, please. Yeah. Let's hear it again. Here's DR. You're welcome, Josh. Oh, man.

What's up? That's brutal. It is.

That's frightening, man. Baseball, best thing they ever did was the pitch clock. I can watch games now. Real quick, though, on the Hawks, the Atlanta Hawks down here.

What do you do, man? I mean, we're like the great dichotomy in all of sports. It's like we can go out and we can play with anyone and then we can lose to the worst teams. You're kind of in that position as a Hawks fan or with the team. We're good enough to make the playoffs, but we're not bad enough to get the lottery.

What do you do? What's your opinion? Keep Trey young, blow it up, get another superstar. How do you get this team to move forward and get to a championship position?

Here's a part that sucks. You move into the great unknown when you move Trey young, but it is more likely than not that it's time for him to go eventually. I don't think you're going to win a championship with both De'Jaunte Murray and Trey young.

I think from both Murray's perspective and Trey, they are who they are. I don't think the Atlanta Hawks have anybody on their team who's going to stand to improve or get better as a basketball player. And how is that going to move or deliver you a championship? John Collins is not going to net you a superstar.

At some point in time, somebody's going to have to be moved to try to move in a positive direction. So you have a team that fits better. De'Jaunte Murray is not a scorer by trade. He can drop and get you buckets and bundles, but he ain't traditionally just going to get you points. He's an all around basketball player. And we saw that when he was with the San Antonio Spurs. And now he has to share that a little bit with Trey young. And when Trey young doesn't have the ball, he's not necessarily moving or running around like he is Steph Curry or Reggie Miller running around screens or curls or cutting to the basket.

That's not his full MO. He's a great player with the ball in his hands, which is why he's able to lead the league in assists and still go out there and get his points. I don't know if that's going to lead to a championship with the squad that he's on, and that's not necessarily his fault. They have to figure out who can fit around him. Well, they're going to have to move him. He's the biggest asset.

Hey, buckle up. It's going to be fun or interesting to see who the Hawks get rid of first. It's the JR Sport Reshow here with you on CBS Sports Radio 855-212-4CBS.

That's 855-212-4CBS. I'm going to tell you about Jon Marant on the other side of the break. I do need to show love. We talked about Nick Nurse probably leaving, probably moving on. Well, Mike Brown, Sacramento Kings, he's moving on. He's going to be in the playoffs, but he also picked up an award today.

I'll fill you on the net. We'll get to Odell. We'll talk drinking at baseball games. Hey, Marco, you like to drink at baseball games? Uh, not really. Not much of a drinker.

Oh, good for you. What do you, well, you know what? I'll ask you next hour about these, uh, these, these beverages that teams are, are selling a little bit late in the games. Good deal, Marco?

Yeah, sounds good. We'll talk about that next hour. It's the JR Sport Reshow on CBS Sports Radio. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief on CBS Sports Radio. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief on CBS Sports Radio. I do think you're one of the best people in radio right now, hands down. I've heard everybody.

You got the gift and I appreciate, you know, your intelligence and your honesty. Call in now at 855-212-4CBS. It's the JR Sport Reshow on CBS Sports Radio. We're going to get into Odell. I want to talk to you about alcohol sales at these MLB games. And I got to show love to the Bruins and Rays. They're doing amazing things right now.

The Timberwolves are still falling apart. And so we got a whole lot more to do here in the show. And then I'm going to get back to your calls as well.

855-212-4CBS. Before we went to break, I did talk about a Nick Nurse, head coach of the Toronto Raptors, has been a coach in some capacity for the past 10 years. For the past five seasons, he's been the head coach, taking over for Dwyane Casey, who won coach of the year. And we know that Kawhi Leonard popped up. They won a championship. He popped out. And now they are in a position of, damn it, we basically going to have to start again.

And Masai Ujuri is not shy in that regard. So don't be shocked if Nick Nurse is gone. Don't be shocked if the Toronto Raptors field a totally different roster starting next season. And so I mentioned to you Dwyane Casey. He did win coach of the year with these Toronto Raptors in 2018 before Nick Nurse took over. And now he's up in the front office for the Detroit Pistons. He just stepped away from his position. Good for him. Probably done and retired from coaching.

He deserves it. Meanwhile, someone else who's been coaching for a very long time happens to be Mike Brown. You probably remember him standing on the sidelines with LeBron. You probably remember him not winning anything with the Los Angeles Lakers. You probably remember him back with the Cavs, looking at Kyrie Irving getting fired again. He was an assistant in Golden State for years after all that nonsense. And now this season, he coached the Kings.

His first season with Sacramento. They're back in the playoffs for the first time since 2006. Their talent has developed.

They're one of the most dynamic offensive teams in the entire league. And Mike Brown from the NBA Coaches Association, he was named the coach of the year. And he might actually also win that award from the NBA as well.

More awards the better for Mike Brown. And now the Sacramento Kings are going to go out there and take on the Golden State Warriors. And he worked with Steve Kerr. He worked under Steve Kerr. And so ahead of the series, Steve Kerr, he had nothing but positive words for Mike Brown and the work that he did with the Kings. Take a listen to Steve Kerr. Mike has done a brilliant job.

He's hands down coach of the year this year. To take the team from the beginning of the season where they were to where they are now. To just the energy and the excitement around the team.

The buzz in the city. But the way that they've played, the style with which they've played. Mike's just crushed it. He's put them in a great position to succeed. And they've had a great year. They have had a great year. They got work to do. But what they've done up until this point is admirable. It's always great when you see teams just grow. Nobody needs to be sitting around in the toilet forever. Every now and then you got to grow.

Not to think that something out of the toilet will grow. But you get my point. 855-2124 CBS. Dan is calling from Detroit where Dwayne Casey is no longer the coach. Dan, you're on CBS Sports Radio. Hey, how are you, JR? Good.

What's up? You know, I think some of these teams have really got to think before you trade for these superstars. I mean, Tyree Irving was never going to make Luca better, was he? Yeah, but you got to- It's Luca's team. Yeah, but the point is you want to present a scenario to Luca that you can't say that we haven't attempted to get better. Sometimes teams, and I'm not saying it's the correct thing to do, sometimes you just go out there and you make a trade because it looks good. It shows that you attempt it.

It's like bringing home flowers to somebody who you feel is going to leave you just to say that I'm trying. You understand what I'm saying, Dan? I get what you're saying, but now you've put him in a worse spot because now he's got... Tyree's never played well with other superstars.

Wow. He's never played well with others because he's a very good player, don't get me wrong. He won a championship with LeBron and knocked down a great three. He can't say he hasn't. Historically- Was that his rookie year? No, that was not his rookie year. We know that he wasn't going to lead the Cleveland Cavaliers to a championship by himself, but to say that he doesn't work well with others or has not is not fair. Overall, yes, but he has shown it.

What else you got? And now he's just really put the team backwards because now they've given up players, and I'm sure draft picks. Not necessarily his fault. I wouldn't say... I would say it's his fault. Russell Wilson to the Lakers wasn't going to work.

Slow down. Kyrie Irving, and I don't think he wanted to go to Dallas. Kyrie Irving did not wake up and trade himself to the Dallas Mavericks. He was traded there. Mark Cuban, Niko Harris, they brought him in, man. He ain't say, let me go there. They traded for him. It's not his fault.

It is his fault for how he plays when he gets there. No, that's not true, man. Dan, this is not fair. What do you mean? Look, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, I don't... Thank you for calling from Detroit. I don't... Chef, where'd you get your dog? My dog is a rescue. You got a rescue dog. It's from a shelter. Correct. Okay, look, I don't go to the animal shelter and bring a dog into my house and expect the dog to act like a cat. And then when the dog acts like a dog, I get mad at the dog.

It doesn't work that way. You can't blame Kyrie. You want him to play different?

What? He is great at what he does. He is a shooter. He is a scorer. He is a slasher. He's one of the best finishers at the rim.

That's what he is. What do you want Kyrie to do different? It's not his fault that things that did not work or have not worked out between he and Luca.

There's a couple of things here. They're both ball dominant. That ain't Kyrie's fault. The guys that they had before he was gone, they were a better fit. But things are always about the, we need the flash and we need the sexy. The NBA players ain't waking up changing, man.

It don't happen. There was another guy who was, he's a complete opposite of Kyrie. He's seven foot three. He's just shooting threes, flying all over the place when he's healthy. Come on, Kristaps Porzingis. He wasn't fitting out there with, with Luca. What are we going to blame Kristaps for not changing his game? What's he going to do? He's seven foot three shooting guard. What is he supposed to do different?

Well, here you, you're here with Luca. Do this different. Nah, man.

You can't do that. Dan, this caller from Pittsburgh. What's up, Dan? You're on CBS Sports Radio.

What's happening, man? Hey, on this whole Luca thing, this probably happened, but do you think they asked Luca what he wanted and they asked him to trade for Kyrie or he wanted another superstar running mate? No, there's a possibility. There's a possibility, but I think it's a foregone conclusion that you got, you got options here. You can continue to run it back with what you have, or you can upgrade the talent.

Just because you bring in a talent doesn't mean it's going to work or that it's going to fit. How about that, Dan, at one point in your life, you were a child, right? You were a kid one day. Sure. Did you like Legos when you were a kid? Absolutely.

Okay. I can bring you one Lego castle and then I can bring you another Lego castle and I can sit down and tell you, hey man, build them. Just because you mix up the pieces and try to put it together, doesn't mean that you're going to get a masterpiece.

Sometimes the castles look better if they stand alone. And so I agree with you, man. I'm just, I'm saying that like your, your point that you made to the previous caller about them trading for Kyrie, putting, uh, presenting the picture that they're trying for Luca, right? Why not get Luke in a room and say, Hey, how can we help you? Well, I, listen, I, I'm sure that they gave him a heads up. I'm sure he said, okay, let's do it. And I think for most superstars, that's the case. We don't know to what degree and what is Luca going to say?

He knows that look, players are very honest. They're not going to say it publicly. They know where the team is. The Dallas Mavericks weren't going back to the finals. They weren't going to be a championship contender. They might as well, quote unquote, have tried to bring in another talent, tried to have success and tried to build from there.

And, but we know this much may win or nothing with the two of them. He got some work and Kyrie might be going anyway. Thank you, Dan, for calling from Pittsburgh. It's the JR sport reshow here on CBS sports radio. I'm going to get some more of your calls. We're going to talk more NFL, NBA, Odell, and an even alcohol at a baseball game.
