Ladies and Gentlemen, the following contest is set for one flaw. Introducing first, from Lithuania, he weighs 123 kilos, the Russian Nightmare, Nikita Kolob. Welcome to another episode of Q&A with Kolob, the Devil's Nightmare. Well, with me today, I'm excited to have this man, this man of God, Jackie Hill, all the way from the great state of, well, my old stomping grounds, Minnesota. Jackie, welcome to Q&A with Kolob.

Thank you, Nikita. It's great to be here with you. And speaking of which, I was just recently, or I'll say not long ago, actually up there with you, had a full, almost a full week of adventure up there, part of which was over at Roseville Baptist Church, which you pastor over there. But in addition to that, you're a husband, you're a dad, and how long have you been in the ministry, Jackie?

Yeah, so, yeah, I am a husband and a father, and my wife, Corinne, and I have been married 17 years, and we've got three kids, Noah, Leah, and Micaiah, who got to hang out with you, so they love that. And I've been here at Roseville Baptist Church for 18 years as a pastor, and been serving in ministry in one way or another for about 20, 22 years. And what would you say, at what age prompted you, or did you feel kind of led to, okay, this is what I'm going to do one day as an occupation?

Yeah, that's a great question. I can remember as a little kid, even, daydreaming about preaching. You know, a lot of kids are daydreaming, especially boys, daydreaming about hitting the winning shot of a basketball game, or hitting that grand slam to win the baseball game. And for me, I just think the Holy Spirit was working on me at a young age. When I would daydream about things, it was more of me preaching the Gospel, telling people about Jesus and seeing them respond. And that started when I was probably about six or seven years old, but I really didn't fully understand that that's what God was calling me to, as sort of a life purpose, until I was 19. And that's when I surrendered to the Gospel ministry. I say that because I had a plan to be a wildlife biologist.

I wanted to maybe be a DNR officer or something like that. And you've got to know my background, I guess, a little bit to understand that. My family is kind of like Duck Dynasty, but without the money.

Without the money, I hear you. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, I even got my own version of Uncle Cy.

My Uncle Earl, crazy just like him. So that's kind of what I grew up with, and I just wanted to be outside and do outdoors things. So that's what I wanted to do. And so I was kind of running, I guess, a little bit from what God was calling me to. And when I surrendered, I gave it up and immediately just got plugged in working with youth and teenagers, which is kind of like wildlife biology a little bit. In a sense, yeah.

In a sense, yeah. But that's really, at 19 is where I surrendered and really gave all I had to Jesus and started serving Him as faithfully as I could. That's amazing. You know, you mentioned your beautiful family. I've got to tell this story just very quick. You know, when we all had lunch together, breaking some bread together, and your son was funny. He's next to me.

He said something to the effect, Hey, I did a little research on you. And I'm like, OK. And he's like, I found one of your action figures on eBay, man. I was like, $330. I was like, yeah, they're pretty rare. And so they can be quite expensive.

But hopefully one day somewhere down the road may have one that's not quite that expensive. But on that note, though, and that said, speaking of wrestling, you're not a local Minnesota guy like me who grew up there. You grew up in kind of a mecca of pro wrestling. Is that right?

I did. I grew up in Memphis, Tennessee. So our big wrestler was Jerry the King Lawler. Yeah. You had two kings there.

You had the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis, and the King of Wrestling, Jerry Lawler. Wow. Yeah. Yeah. So we had all of that going on growing up.

You know, it's weird because I grew up in Memphis and I've never been to Graceland. Yeah. You said that a lot.

I'm like, isn't that funny? Like, I think people from their own local community, you know, just don't go to the, in some cases, the local stuff. They just get so caught up in life and they don't realize all the tourists that come in to see certain things that they never experienced for themselves, right? Right.

Yeah. And so for me, it wasn't anything special. I just grew up around all the stuff all the time and just never went to Graceland.

I did get to see Jerry Lawler wrestle in person and stuff like that, but never went to go to Graceland. And so it was an interesting experience and quite a shock, too, to my sister moving from the Bible Belt, you know, say in Tennessee, to up here in Minnesota where there's not a, you know, a big presence of gospel light up here has been quite the experience. And I'm glad to be here.

I wouldn't leave for the world. It's a joy to be serving God in this contest, but definitely different. Well, eye-opening, I'm sure for you, and certainly what comes to mind is the harvest field. You know, the harvest is ripe and so you are certainly in an area, and I know you say 18 years now, there at Roseville Baptist Church. I had the privilege now a couple times of preaching there at Roseville Baptist, and thanks to a mutual friend, Kirk Talley, right?

Yeah, yeah. Yeah, so Kirk, you know, you guys played football together in college. Kirk and I had a football connection as well. I served as his chaplain for his football team that he coached here at the University of Northwestern. And so I think I did that for seven years, and that's kind of how me and you got connected was through Kirk. Yep, Kirk Talley connected us together, and of course, and I was going to say too, you mentioned Graceland, so I had a very unique, back to just wrestling for a moment, I had a very unique first-time experience at Graceland because I toured it with the American dream death of the road, the tower of power, too sweet to be power if you will.

Yeah, and you know, what was funny about that, Jack, is we were in the prime of the superpowers, and anyone who's a wrestling fan will know what I'm talking about there, and I think we were more of a distraction than anything because people wanted pictures and autographs, and while we're touring Graceland, I think they took more pictures of us than they did Graceland, but maybe that's just me wanting to think I was all that, which I wasn't, but yeah, Dusty Rhodes and I toured Graceland that first time. I've since been back a couple times, and so growing up, so you grew up around that, but more importantly now, you are spreading the good news, spreading the gospel there in Minnesota, and just love your church, and how can people, if people wanted, maybe they're traveling into Minneapolis, which by the way, Roseville is kind of like a suburb, if you will, of Minneapolis St. Paul, but if people wanted to find out more about Roseville Baptist Church, and I know they can watch you online, too, live, right? Yeah, yeah, so we stream live on our website and on Facebook, so it's just RosevilleBaptist.com is our church website, and then we have a Facebook page. We also have a podcast that we do. It's called the 1717 Podcast. It's based on John 1717, sanctify them in truth, your word is truth, and it just started as a ministry of our church as a way to answer people's questions.

I'm here with you doing Q&A with COLA. We have people ask us questions. It could be something heavy like, you know, does God love homosexuals?

Is homosexuality a sin? Does something light where we get people ask questions like, were mythical creatures like dragons and unicorns real? And we just say, okay, what does the Bible say about this? And just trying to help people shape a biblical worldview, and so you can find that pretty much anywhere podcasts are found, but that's another way to connect with us there, and we've been doing that for about four years, and it's been a lot of fun. Oh, that's amazing, and I'm assuming they just go to the, again, to the podcast, any podcast platform, and what's the name of the podcast? 1717, so just the numbers 1717 podcast, so based on John 1717, and it's really easy to find, and there's a link to that on our website as well at rosevillebaptist.com.

Anyway, Facebook, go look up my new fan page, Nikita Koloff Fans, and like it and follow today. Well, it is Q&A with Koloff. You mentioned that. And so why don't we segue into, because I have no clue what you're going to ask me. So that's what's always fun about this show. But if you want to fire your first question, let's just go for it.

Yeah, yeah. So thank you so much for this opportunity. I've listened to your podcast for quite a while. Ever since you first talked to me about coming and preaching at our church, I started listening then before I ever met you.

And so I'm excited to be able to do this. Okay. So what's your first question you have for me? All right. Gave me some thought, and I got a couple different levels here, but first just a wrestling question.

Okay. What is one wrestler from the past, or maybe even the present, that you never got a chance to wrestle against in the ring that you would have loved to have a chance against? That's a great question. And, you know, there's really in my mind, you know, probably several guys that I think would have been, you know, been fun to step in the ring with. And, you know, back in the day, you know, the magazines, when we were going head to head WWF versus NWA, which later became WCW, you know, the magazines were touting, you know, kind of the what if, right? What if the Russian nightmare Nikita Kolov were to wrestle Hulk Hogan, right? So there was a lot of hype around that.

Obviously it never happened. Nor did I personally, you know, have an interest because people say, you know, did the WWF ever try to contact you and get you to go there and do that? You know, and, and the short answer is no, but, so it would have been fun to step in the ring with Hogan. You know, it almost goes without saying, but Hogan, Shawn Michaels is another one. You know, Bret the Hitman Hart. There's a few guys there, you know, Triple H. Of course, you know, I wrestled Stone Cold before he was Stone Cold. I joke and say before he shaved his head and took on my likeness back when he was just stunning Steve Austin, right?

And the fans are the greatest. Like apparently I had like 12 or 14 matches against Steve and I was either 12-0 or 14-0. One of the other, however many matches there were there, I guess I was undefeated against Steve, but probably wouldn't appreciate me saying that. But it is the truth, Truth Network here.

That's awesome. Yeah, gotta be truthful. Gotta be truthful on Truth Network. But, but yeah, Undertaker, Mark Callis, I wrestled him when he was Mark Callis, but not as the Undertaker, right? So, so some of those guys, Triple H, you know, The Rock, I mean, could I have had a good match against The Rock? Yeah, I believe I could have had a really good match. And then I'll just kind of conclude by saying, never got in the ring with, with Kurt Henning, although Kurt and I went to high school together. Never, never got in the ring with him, but I did get in the ring with Rick Rude, Ravaging Rick Rude, who I also went to high school with together. So got to get in the ring with him and then, and so I'll just, I'll just stop right there. Cause there's probably a list of litany of guys that it would have been fun to get in the ring with, but I'll just stop right there and let you throw your next question out. That's awesome.

I like it. I guess this is, this is more of a personal thing cause I know, you know, you're a big gym guy. I think the last Q and A I listened to, you said you'd been working out in gyms for 53 years.

Something like I've been lifting weights or something for 53 years. And so a guy like me, who's trying to do a better job of taking care of the temple, the Holy Spirit, trying to get more physically fit and make sure to take care of their body. In addition to physical exercise, what would be one thing that you have learned that has been proven to be beneficial to you into maintaining a physically fit body for the glory of God?

Great question. And of course, one of the things we do in our, our man up conference and, and, and we delve deeper into that at our man camps, Lex Luger does some of that teaching and is to, is to really help people understand that the body really is a temple. And, you know, once you give your life to Christ, you know, you go read, you know, second Corinthians six, 19, 20, three, three 16, you know, chapter 10, verse nine or chapter nine, verse 27, chapter 10, verse 31.

There's several, or maybe it's first Corinthians, maybe not second, either one or the other, but anyway. And there's a lot of emphasis on the body and, and respecting this temple that God has given us as a, as a Jesus follower. And, and so some of the things Jackie, we teach is where people think, oh, it's just exercise, exercise, exercise. Although that is good, you know, at the very core, my philosophy is some is better than none.

Okay. So some exercise is better than none, but more important than that is I call it the 80 20 rule and, and a healthy lifestyle, healthy living is 80% what goes past the lips and 20% exercise. And so where some people try to make up for their lack of discipline in eating with exercise, I'm going to tell you, you'd be better off disciplining your eating, even if you did no exercise. And then it's not about joining a gym either.

I'll just say this. It's just being active, right? I've got a good friend of mine who went from 240 down to, to 202 and it just started swimming. Okay.

Um, I've got another friend who went from 380 now down to 280, just, you know, watching what he ate and, and, and incorporating some exercise in, I mean, go play tennis, uh, you know, go for a walk and, you know, just, just get more active, combine that with, with, uh, healthy eating, cutting out all the processed foods and box. Stay out of the middle of the store. Let me just say this.

Stay out of the middle of the store and just shop the perimeter and, uh, you, you, in the long run, you'd be much better off. Does that, does that make sense? Is that helpful? Yeah, yeah, absolutely. And it's great to hear, you know, cause being around, just seeing, you know, you're still doing a great job of taking care of what God has given you. And, uh, I mean, hopefully you, you, you, I remember you talking about just the last time you preached here about how you saw these guys and these fitness magazines. You're like, I want to be that. I'm going to be that guy one day. And you, you did.

And not everyone's going to be that guy, but we all can be the best version of us that God has called us to be. And so hearing you say it, cause a lot of the stuff I've heard other people say, but you know, hearing you say it to you is really encouraging. Well, let me just add one little caveat to that. You, you, you know, you may have picked up on it. You may not have when, when I was out to eat with your family. Um, it, you, you may or may not have noticed. I ate about half my food and boxed half my food. Uh, I did notice that.

Yeah. And that's the other thing I do. I portion control, key words, portion control. And so very rarely when, if I'm out to eat like that, do I ever eat the entire meal? Most of the time I'm going to eat half box half, and here's a little help, helpful hint to the listeners out there.

I'm going to, I'm going to, here's a twofold blessing here. One by only eating half you're controlling your portions and it's going to be much healthier for you. But secondly, I just saved you money too, cause I just provided another meal for you.

Two for the price of one, two meals for the price of one. So yeah. Great questions.

Great questions. We've got time for one more. If you've got one more. I do.

I do have one more. This is more of a spiritual question. It's one of my favorite questions to ask other pastors, preachers, ministers, evangelists, and that is, and that is this. What does your personal devotional time with the Lord look like? Your quiet time.

What do you do there? Cause I'm always trying to learn from other people. I've been following Jesus and myself for 38 years and I'm always trying to add new things or try new things in my personal quiet time. So, so what is, what is your devotional life, devotional life look like on a daily basis?

That's a really, really great question. I found it is important to, to carve out some time. Now again, I'm not telling our listeners out there, Hey, you got to carve out three hours a day or not. Now, Hey, if you want to carve out 10% of your time, let's see, 24 hours in a day, I guess that'd be 2.4 hours, right?

If I do my math, I'm not a math guy, but I think, I think 10% of 24 hours is 2.4 hours, something like that. I'm not saying you have to give a tithe of your time every day back to the Lord. But what if you just set some time aside every day? And I would encourage people, Jackie, to start out their day, set the tone, you know, if it's reading one Proverb or you might read one chapter.

Okay. Today's the, uh, whatever day it is. I won't say what day we're recording, but I'll say that to say this 31 days in a month, there's 31 chapters in Proverb. Hey, just read a chapter of Proverbs a day, right? So I carve out time and that can vary depending on my schedule. Um, but I, I always try to have some key morning, you know, beginning of my day time set aside for the Lord to, to listen to worship music, um, to pray. Uh, and, and then one of the things I currently do, Jackie, is I combine my cardio work with, uh, with my devotional time. And so I got three specific devotionals. I read consistently on a daily basis. My cardio time is 20 minutes. And actually those three devotionals reading them that ties into other scriptures and cross referencing scripture takes up anywhere from 15 to 20 minutes. And so, uh, I'm double dipping, you might say, I'm working, working on the, on the body, back to the body again, working on my heart and lungs and trying to, trying to have good cardio while at the same time, working on the inner man, the spirit man.

So kind of combining forces in a sense there. Um, and, and, uh, and not get out if you want to say it this way, two birds with one stone, but I found for me personally, Jackie, it's been very valuable one to help pass the car, that 20 minutes on the cardio equipment. It's been very helpful that way.

Something just real quick. I used to do in the past. I used to, instead of doing machines, I used to go on walks and I would call my prayer walk. So that 20 minute walk would be prayer time. And so I would, I would pray during those 20 minutes.

Right. And, uh, and then there's times in the car. I want to say this too, cause I, I, on a consistent basis, uh, work through the Bible every year and, and, um, want to read it, but also on my app on, on the phone. So a lot of drive time, I will work my way through the Bible, listening to the Bible, uh, on my drive time in my car.

And last but not least, you know, there's some nights I have struggled falling asleep or wake up in the middle of the night and I'm wide awake. And so I'll go and put sermons on and, and just soak in some of the sermons. So long answer to, to, to your question, but hopefully that's helpful to some of our listeners out there and hopefully helpful to you, Jackie. Yeah, absolutely. And I do a lot of those things.

The one thing I haven't been doing that I'm going to start doing after just listening to you is incorporating it into my, uh, exercise time and just the cardio. So that's a great idea. Yeah. Yeah. Just, just tie, tie it right in and, and, uh, it's pretty easy to do so.

Yeah. Just tie that right in. So, well, I'm excited and Hey, we're gonna, we're gonna have to get you back on. We'll get you back on the man up show. Cause, uh, I got a feeling, uh, you know, you're going to have a, a testimony, you know, they, they hear from, from me all the time.

You have a lot of different interviews and people that, you know, have come to our camps, come to man camp and that sort of thing. And, and, uh, that's something I'm excited about, about you doing here and in the future. And, and what I'd like to do is get you back on the man up show to talk about your experience on man camp one day, if you'd be willing to do that. Oh, I'd be more than willing.

That would be an honor. Absolutely. Awesome. Well, pastor Jackie Hill, Roseville Baptist church, Jackie, give them the website one more time where they can go find out about the church and the podcast.

Yeah, it's just rosevillebaptist.com and there is a link there on our website directly to the 1717 podcast. Excellent. Well, thanks for tuning in today. And, uh, you know, as I challenge you each and every day, go out today and just live a God field and have a God blessed day.
