This is the Truth Network. This is the Truth Network. Satan's Nightmare, Nakia Koloff. This is a war. This is one war that needs to be.
What a broken! Oh, what a fight! And it's out of control here. That's a bad man. No, that's a bad man.
No, that's a bad man. Anytime, any place, night, hey, I don't care. I'm only a phone call away, my friend. Welcome to another episode of QA with Koloff, the devil's nightmare. Welcome back, QA with Koloff Questions and Answers, where you get a personal phone call.
Sometimes we get you in studio to pick my brain and to ask me whatever question it is you would like to ask. And it could be about anything. anything and I don't ever, rarely ever have a clue what you're going to ask.
Well with me today, I'm excited to have Doug Neubauer. Doug, welcome to QA with Koloff. Thank you, Nikita. Thank you. It's a pleasure to be here.
Well, great to have you, Doug. Course, we we met. We we'll we'll get to this, but w we met we met through we met through camp, right? We had not met prior to camp, had we? That is correct.
The first time we met face to face when I came in to check in for camp.
So at man camp, and hey, just out of curiosity, because you're down there in South Carolina and you're living where I'm familiar with Spartanburg, Greenville area. I remember the Greenville Auditorium, the Spartanburg Auditorium. Down there. Did you are you originally from that area or just migrate to that area? I I migrated there in the late ninet around Thanksgiving in 1999.
99.
So so where did you grow up? Where were you originally from? Uh actually born uh first twelve years of my life were in western New York State.
Okay, all right. And uh so so that would have I'm just trying to get my geography right. W w What what were you doing? Between Buffalo and Rochester. Oh, okay.
Well that so I'm b here's how I'm familiar with both those towns. Of course, Lex Luger, you know, good old Buffalo boy, grew up born and raised in Buffalo, still a Buffalo Bills fan to this day. And then two guys, Terry Phillips and Paul Brigandi. Who's Terry and Paul? Two guys, they were two linebackers from Rochester, New York that I played college football with.
Um, they were recruited out of New York over to northern Minnesota of all places, and uh still stay in touch with those guys all these years later from the uh from the late 70s, early 80s. Um, still in touch with Terry and Paul. Um, so I am familiar with that area.
So you migrate south down to Greenville, Spartanburg, and there's there's a uh there's a couple stops in between, a couple in between. I hear so what which were where? Like, where'd you stop in between? At twelve, I moved to Western North Carolina, about thirty five miles east of Asheville. A small town there.
That's where I met my wife. We both graduated high school from there. She was born and raised there. I went to college in Florida for four years. And my first job after college was in L.A., Lower Alabama, as we like to jokingly say.
Mobile. I love it. Yeah, Mobile. I'm familiar with Mobile as well. And I have a lot of friends from Alabama.
And I've been down to Tuscaloosa quite a few times. I've got a real dear friend there in Tuscaloosa. And so L.A., Lower Alabama. And now I know you and Nicole have been together 29 years now, right? Yes.
So you met, okay, but you met her where? Where'd you meet her? In North Carolina, the the hometown. But where though? Like what I mean, just school?
No. We're two years apart and as far as graduation years, we went to the same house high school, didn't even know each other existed. Wow. And it wasn't until I came home from college my senior year for Christmas break and Met her. She was the checkout girl in the express lane at the Winn-Dixie supermarket.
Oh my gosh.
Well, and so, yeah, because you would have been two years probably a senior and she was a sophomore or something. And gotcha. I gotcha. And a checkout.
Well, I you. I want hey, peep listen, if you want to hear more of that story, it's pretty pretty amazing. Uh, meeting Nicole, uh she was the cashier, right? Yes, yes. And there's more to that story.
I'll just say this. Go over to It's Time to Man Up to get the Paul Harvey rest of that story because it's pretty fascinating for me, anyway.
So, all right, so 29 years of marriage, two children later. I know. Uh you know, you are uh Oh okay. Are you you're you're currently employed, yeah? What are you doing currently?
I'm a field safety professional for an industrial electrical contractor.
Okay. And uh of course we we got to spend time together at Man Camp and 'cause you were invited and encouraged, I'll just say, from uh a fr a good friend of yours, right, that that really suggested you come to camp. Yep, because he's a camp alumnus as well. He was an alumni, yep, and he he now he's over the road, right? He's he's uh been yeah drives uh the 18 wheelers and uh And uh kind of has a a little unique ministry of his own there, does he not?
Yes, and it's it seems to be taking off as well. He's I got his YouTube channel, uh, Holy Roar Evangelism. Ho did you say holy roller? Roar like a lion. Oh, oh, I thought because I'm thinking he would, I mean, the other would apply to being an 18-wheeler, you know, driving an 18-wheeler.
He could be a holy roller, right? Yes.
Yes.
Technically, but holy roar.
Okay. And I know Grady Sweeney, right? Yes, sir. Yeah. Shout out to Grady Sweeney for, one, encouraging you and then what you encountered.
Just take a couple of minutes and share maybe a high note or highlight of how you encountered the Lord at camp. It was You know, in the Bible, it says iron sharpens iron, and we're and one man's supposed to sharpen another. And we forget sometimes that when iron strikes iron, there's sparks. Yeah. From that friction and stuff like that, but in the end, you come out better.
And the Just Dwayne, the staff, you know, yourself, and I remember Kevin, who who would drive me to the cabin because of my hip. I couldn't walk the normal route. uh just loving on me. caring about me and just being with my background, I'm a little cynical sometimes just because of the emergency the years and working in emergency services. And you kind of grow a little callous heart and everything.
And so That That you know, God used that. Y'all, everybody's caring and reaching out to me. It wasn't phony. It wasn't you had no agenda. You weren't trying to sell me anything.
You weren't trying to manipulate me or anything. You just genuinely cared about. Yeah, if I said I wanted to come back and leave a changed man, I didn't know how God was going to do it. Yeah. But he used you and your staff, and it was genuine, heartfelt.
brotherly love. and caring. That God used, and yeah, He broke me. Great, even said it, you know. at the end of camp was God broke you, didn't he?
I said. Absolutely. He said, I want to hear all about it. And uh on my way home I end up reaching out to him On my way home from camp, I reached out to him, I said, Where can I meet you at? Because I needed to share it.
I was so excited about what God did. And I had approval from my wife, of course, because I was on the way home. And uh but yeah. Perfect.
Well, the synopsis of the while still protecting the sacredness of the camp. Yeah, and we explain to people, you know, and yeah, and we, for those of you out there listening, you know, we tell guys, you know, when you go home, just share your encounter with God. Like, what did you experience? What happened for you personally while you were at camp? It's not about, oh, we did this on this day and did that on that day and did this on this day.
And that's not because it's secret, but it's sacred. We try to, as a staff, as you hear Doug explaining, we try to create a real culture of honor among men there at the camp. And a safe place for men to come and just be themselves instead of Doug used the word phony, instead of coming and just being a phony. But you can just really be you with no judgment, right? Right, Doug?
No, no stones to throw, right? No. We got no stones to throw. Yep, we got no stones to throw. You know, and any one of our staff has, you know, has been in the same position, including myself, when I went to my first camp in March of 06.
So 20 years now, I've been facilitating these camps and working, you know, trying to work hard on setting an atmosphere where these guys can encounter God. And not feel any judgment. And so it's great to hear that that's part of what you experienced, Doug, was just that. Just that. Absolutely.
Yeah and um So, yeah, and some of these guys, I'll just say too, some of these guys go way back with me. I mean, of course, Jeff, Jeff James, who helped facilitate this time, Tom Stewart, a number of these guys have come and volunteered their time. going back even back to 2011, over 30 camps that they have been a part of these with me. And so, you know, when you come, you're gaining, you're not only being set in an atmosphere where you can encounter God, he mentioned the word, Doug mentioned the word brotherly love and the word genuine. And those are some of the things we hope to convey as a staff for you to come.
And, you know, just maybe you've never experienced that before. You know, you just. Because, you know, your church isn't like that, or you grew up in a rough upbringing, right? Maybe without a dad, or whatever the case, or you didn't grow up with a rough upbringing. upbringing but You know, w you like uh the oldest camper We just set a milestone 81 years old.
Daniel Johnson from down Louisiana, and talked to him recently post-camp. And man, it was huge for him. It was an incredible encounter for him at age eighty one.
So last note, Doug, and we're going to get to your questions for me. What So the staff experience, anything else, you know, and of course, Grady said God broke you. And of course, you went home. You went home with a new outlook, right? A new perspective.
Yes, absolutely. And Yeah, my wife said I looked lighter and even my son said, he says your eyes are brighter. It was it was I was like coming from him, I was like, Okay, that's unique. Yeah. Yeah.
And one thing about man can is You're coming from and I talked with a couple of the other guys from my group. There were several of us that were first from the first responder community. And in that community, there's its one one particular level. You're in a particular level of brotherhood and sisterhood there in those emergency service providers. And if I was gonna give you an arm gesture, I'd I'd have my hand right around between my neck and my chin.
You know, and kind of giving you that level of line. the brotherhood I experience as a result of man camp with the brothers in Christ that I went through with. I'd have to hold my hand above my head. And say that's a different level. And we all agreed with that.
The few of us that were from similar backgrounds. As we found out, it's like, yeah, this is at a different level. And even some of the guys that were military said, this brotherhood is at a different level. Wow. Well, I'm encouraged by that.
I know, you know, Lux Luger and the rest of the staff, I'll convey that to them as well. I know we'll all be encouraged by you sharing that. And hey, if you want to learn more about Man Camp and just maybe you want to come to camp, again, we do one of the spring and April, one of the fall and October. Go to koloff.net. Koloff.net.

Well, let's get to your questions for me before we run out of time. Let's get to your questions that you might have for me and fire the first one away. What do you got for me today, Doug? I was thinking today, what was I going to ask you? I think we'll do asking something on the serious side or is something kind of fun.
So I'm going to go with the fun. Good. Let's do it.
Okay. So we're we're in the time of year where we're coming up Thanksgiving and Christmas. And there is going to be a ton of Christmas specials on the on the television and What is Nikita's favorite Christmas special of all time. It's a wonderful life. It's a wonderful life.
Okay. Yeah, that was not a hard one. That was a good one, but not a hard one. It's a wonderful life, man. I don't know how many times I watched it.
In fact, I had a very unique experience one year. I was taking some of my children up to the relatives in Minnesota, and we were driving, and we stayed partway in Indianapolis, Indiana. And I'm checking into the hotel and I see this ad, you know, kind of an ad for It's a Wonderful Life like a live, like live presentation, right? Like a dinner theater. Right?
Right. Yeah, and I'm like. Oh my gosh, that'd be what a cool thing that would be. And man, I got the number, made the phone call. Hey, do you have tickets?
And they, sure enough, they did.
So we and the girls went over and watched It's a Wonderful Life Live on stage. And man, they did a phenomenal job. And then, you know, we got up to my mom's house and she had a copy of it.
So we watched it live and then we watched the actual Christmas show. When we compared the two, we're like, I don't know how they did it, but my gosh, they duplicated it so well. But that's that's one, and I'll throw one more out there too. Miracle on Thirty Fourth Street. It's been a while since I saw that one.
Miracle on 34th Street. And I like the originals. You know, some of them they've colorized, but I like the original black and white. But, man, and for those listening out there, if you've never seen either of those, I mean, especially it's a wonderful life, man, go check it out because the. There's the whole message, and it's kind of, in a way, kind of ties into Mancamp.
The whole message is. Your life means something. Your life means something. In today's world, where especially the youth are struggling with their identity and purpose, man, you know, here's a guy who didn't think, you know, growing up in a little small town, stuck in a small town his whole life, didn't think his life, you know, meant anything. And and then without giving too much of the movie away, comes to find out he had a tremendous impact in his little community as he gets a glimpse of what it would have looked like without him ever having been born.
And so, yeah.
So, man, great question. Nobody's ever asked that before. That was awesome, Doug.
Okay, well, let's let's think over to the children's specials that you know you get you I would rarely get you know the rare opportunity to sleep and get uh go to bed later than normal.
So, like when I'm talking about the puppet animation ones or some of the cartoon ones, do you have a favorite one of those? Oh boy, boy, boy, boy, boy, boy. Um. Animation. Yeah, let me.
I'm going to try to think. I don't know that I know the name of it. Maybe you can help me out, but it. It's it's uh gosh, I can it it The guy, again, going back to this kind of ties into he's. He meets the woman of his dreams, and they do get married.
And he keeps promising her they're going to do this, this, this whole life. And they age throughout the movie. And he ends up. And you got the picture frames, the whole deal, in the house of their whole process of aging, and he never. Everett takes her on that special trip that he says he's going to, and then he ends up, he ties a balloon to his house.
You know what I'm talking about? Oh, that's up. Up. Yes.
Thank you. Up. And he ties the balloon to the house. And the little guy, the cute little guy, the kid that... The little scout guy.
Yeah, the little scout guy that sneaks into the house or onto the porch or whatever who becomes a whole part of the story. Up. Up is by far, yeah, one of my favorite animated movies by far. It's so, it's the cutest thing on the planet, right? I think anyway.
So, yeah.
So, do you re do you remember any of like the pup the puppet animation ones like Santa Claus is coming to town, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Rudolph Shiny New Year? Yeah, TV shows this time. Yeah, TV shows special, because like I said, that was at a time where I got to go to bed later because those were coming on. That's why I liked them so much. Yeah, well, yes.
And the one that really relates to me, me, because I kind of feel like one of them is from the island of misfits. Oh, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Absolutely. Because, you know, the Island of Misfit toys. I'm looking at my own life and I'm like, you know, I kind of feel like, you know, being one of the misfits from that island, you know.
But, yeah.
So, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Yep, that would have been one of my favorites. And one other one. One other one. How can you not like Charlie Brown?
Charlie Brown. Yeah, I was going to say, yeah, I was waiting for that one too. I was like, how? I was wondering if it was going to be Charlie Brown Christmas. Yeah, how can you not like a Charlie Brown Christmas?
So, I'm, you know, so pretty cool.
So, well, man, Doug, great questions and just a pleasure having you on the show today. And I want to encourage all of you out there. Go listen to the full interview I did with Doug over on It's Time to Man Up. Go into the archives and check out the full interview. Blessings to you, Doug, and Nicole.
And just look forward to seeing what God continues to do in and through you. Oh, yeah. I mean, we ever since camp, and we've been on one of Robbie's shows with Kingdom Pursuits talking about my wife and I marriage podcast. Yeah, yeah. Where can they hear more about that?
