This is the Truth Network. Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest is set for one floor. Introduce purse. Lithuania, he weighs 100 and What you think? kilos the Russian nightmare Nakita!
Welcome to another episode, QA with Cole off the Devil's Nightmare. Welcome back, QA with Koloff Questions and Answers, where you get the opportunity to ask the Russian Nightmare a question or two, something that's been burning that you've been wanting to know, whether it's my life story or my wrestling career, what I'm up to now, all kinds of interesting questions I've been asked over the years. And with me today, I'm excited to have Dr. Jay Moore with me today. Jay, welcome to the QA with Koloff.
Thank you. Thank you, Nikita. Thank you. Well, great to have you here. And, you know, some people hear the word Dr.
Jay Moore. Of course, you know, they might think: well, is he a dentist? Is he a medical doctor? But you're not. You have a little bit different title that some people might be surprised by.
Explain that. Yes, sir. I am I am the doctor of life insurance. I've been uh called Dr. Jay by Friends and family since when I was young, due from Dr.
J. Julius Service from the Philadelphia 76ers. And since I've been with Transamerica, when we are a life insurance specialty company, That's all we do is allow for insurance. Been very honored and blessed to be a number one agent in the region for a number of years. And so I've coined the phrase the doctor of life insurance because this doctor makes house calls.
Let me make one for you today. House calls. I love it. I love it. So I've been very blessed with Trans America.
It's I never thought in my wildest younger days that I would be a life insurance life and retirement agent, but it's where the Lord has led me for ten years. And to be honest with you, Nikita, it feels like I've never worked a bit. It's just Something I feel like I've been called to do.
Well, and that's uh that brings up a an old expression, right? If you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life, right?
So some somebody's talked about retirement. I thought Retirement, it I mean I'm having so much fun and enjoying it. How much more, I mean, this is a job I could do well within the. And I say this. More well.
way on up and into my seventies. Sure. Because I'm I'm just I'm really enjoying it. Yeah. And I know you've been doing you've been doing it for about for about ten years, right?
Yes, sir. Over ten years was august thirty first, and it's ten years plus. And I just I thank the Lord every day what he's done for me. the opportunities and The people I get to meet, relationships I get to cultivate, it's just been. I never even dreamed of it, Nikita, just to be honest with you.
I get more and more out of it each and every week, each and every day. And it's the people. I get to meet people that I never thought possible, get to have relationships. I get to have a stake in that person's home. No, that's awesome.
Well, and I'm sure it's very rewarding on the back end.
Some of the stories you hear of people that you get get signed up to the life insurance plans. And I know I've had a policy for 40-plus years, so it gives me peace of mind knowing I've got that kind of on the back burner. Let me ask you a question a little on the Dr. Julius Irving, who I am old enough to be familiar with.
So were they comparing you or did you catch that nickname Dr. J because you played, like, did you play basketball in high school, college, or what? Didn't play basketball. It's just Dr. J was always back in the 80s.
It was just a familiar name, Dr. J. But you always see him on TV with the Philadelphia 76ers. Man, could he fly, right? Woo!
Yeah, he could. Really good. Go ahead. Yeah, m my my first name, my full name's Jason, and I've always went by J, J Y since I was little, and it just kind of just kind of stuck, Doctor J, right? It just kind of rolls off rolls off your tongue.
I'm like, you know what? Yeah. I can parlay this into a you know, my business or what I've gotten That's crazy. And the doctor of life insurance. And just like Julius Irving, no, I do not have a doctorate degree.
But hey. But you specialize. You specialize in what you do. I do. You specialize in what you you know I think he was and again I'm trying to test my I'm not a huge NBA fan or basketball fan but uh uh it seems like Dr.
J was if I'm not mistaken pre-Michael Jordan right pre-MJ in terms of one of the first ones that could take off from that free throw line and just seemed like he's flying through the air on his way to the to the bucket to you know to to score those points.
So so you're a marketplace guy and and out there selling life insurance. Where where would let me ask you this if people wanted more information about your life insurance or or Dr. J, where would they find you? They can find me at my website at uniforlife.com.
Okay. And then you got a Facebook too, I think, right? Facebook page, Dr. J at Unifor Life. Dr.
J at Unifor Life, U-N-I-F-O-U-R, Unifor Life. And if you want to learn more about life insurance, and I'll just say go over to, when you get a chance, go over to the Man Up Show. I do a full-length interview with the good doctor. And of course, we dive deeper into this as well as his family. And speaking of family, I know married to Amy for 23 years.
You got a 17-year-old son, Zach, and you enjoy hunting and fishing and vacation in the Smoky Mountains and Myrtle Beach as well, huh? I love what Nikki did. She's just been a It's been a passion of mine since I was little. I grew up on a farm here in Maiden, North Carolina, in Catawba County. And I've always enjoyed the outdoors, to go hunting and fishing with my dad, and it's something I've been able to passed down to my son Zach and I tell ya.
when we talk about those two places, the Smoky Mountains, I'm talking about Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Spearville. That place just holds a special place in my heart that we love to vacation every year And then North Myrtle Beach. Just Just Quiet. tranquil, it's just peaceful. Those are my two.
My two places that I really enjoy, my family and I every year.
Well, the beach and the mountains. If you had to pick one o over the other, Jay, which would it be? I'm going to say my heart's got to be at Pigeon Forge.
Okay. And I'm with you. Like, I enjoy going, you know, I enjoy the ocean. I enjoy the roar of the ocean, the sound, the smell. But I'm not a big sand guy, right?
Like, like a big beach guy, you know. And so I would side with you. I enjoy the mountains more than I do the beach, although I do enjoy the beach. But I know you're a fan of America's team, Dallas Cowboys. I won't hold that against you.
But in addition to that, I do want to touch on here before we get to your questions for me. I do want to touch on ministry.
So you're not just a marketplace guy, you know, which and you're having tremendous success out there. You're also involved in ministry there, Tri-Cities Church, Tri-City Baptist, and in Conover, North Carolina, where I had recently did a massive. Man Up Conference, and I know we've talked about the men's excitement and coming next year, some of your men coming to Man Camp. Take a moment and tell us your involvement with your church. You've been there a long time.
I've been with Tor City. I've Since May of 2001, I serve as a deacon at Dry City, a Sunday school teacher. Let's say I'm on the security team, the ambassador for the men events, man the men events, the men's conferences that we have there. Wear a lot of hats there. A lot of hats I'm proud to serve in because I just I love it.
I love serving my church. It's Yeah. I enjoy it. It it's fulfilling to me and I always willing to uh do what I can to help uh They help where I can. With what I can at Tri-City Baptist Church.
Well, just a yeah, and I appreciate you all, but I appreciate you. You guys having me in, I had a wonderful time, you know, just interaction with all of your guys there at the conference. And I know you and I have talked about it becoming more of a long-term relationship than just a one-and-done, so to speak. And looking forward to that. Where where would uh if people wanted to know more about Tri-City Ba is there a website for the church that people could find out more?
Yes, sir. It's at www. Tcbc dot org. PCBC.org. We'll bring you right to the Tri-Seated Baptist Church website.
TCBC. That reminds me of a former partner, Jay, a man by the name of Duth Row, the Tower of Power, Toothweet to Black. The American Dream. Yeah, the TCB, taking care of business too. Exactly.
You just got an extra C on there. TCBC.org. Come on.
Now, were you out of curiosity? Growing up in the Carolinas, were you a wrestling fan back in the day? Nakeda. I tell you. There's These are my sports that I followed.
Wrestling. Racing and the Dallas Cowboys. Come on.
I loved it. It's just, it's something that, and I'm going to be honest with you, Keith. I remember. When I was young, when I was younger, I'm talking about five, maybe four or five. It's Saturday mornings.
Okay, get up, watch the cartoons like I guess probably a lot of kids did. At twelve o'clock noon The cartoons would go off, and you've got this. MWA Worldwide Wrestling coming on. Yep. And I'm seeing two guys What I always called into underwear.
Oh, of course, it's trunks. My daughters call it a onesie, but keep going. Keep going, boy. And I'd be seeing that on TV and I said, Dad, What is this? He said It's wrestling, I'm like Wrestling what And I'm just again, I'm just a young kid.
There's just nothing flamboyant about it. My cartoons were on the keydale was on my bugs bunny at. And Preempting my cartoons, Dad. Come on.
Yeah, I said, I'm not watching this. And then I. And it took me a while. I always knew the name of Ric Flair. always knew the name of Ric Flair.
I remember Uh Starcade 83 when Flare Beat Parley Race for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, but still I wasn't hooked. I wasn't hooked until March of nineteen eighty five Saturday night My dad and I are watching in the in the living room And I'm thinking, okay, I'm just gonna watch this a little bit and give it half a chance. Not that I care too much for it. But it'll pass the time until this T V show comes on at 8 o'clock.
So I'm watching it. And there's this The American Drink, Dusty Rhodes, and Telly Blankshire are wrestling for the NWA might have become the Mid Atlantic Te Television Championship. TV channel. They were wrestling for it, and all of a sudden, it's getting ready to go off the air. You got David Crockett, Tony Shivani hollering, fans about to get back with you next week.
It's getting, we're out of time here. I'm thinking, wait a minute, we're out of time. Out of time. How?
Well, I'll just satisfy my curiosity and watch it next week. Right. And I tell you, Nikita, I was hooked on the flounder. Boom. I was hooked.
And I thought this Is pretty good. I kinda like this stuff. I gotta watch more of it, and before you know it, I'm hooked as a wrestling, wrestling fan. Come on.
And I'm just. I've followed it, followed the storylines, the athletes, professional wrestlers. I've just been. Big hooked ever since.
Well, I even follow it still today because I enjoy it. And that was the key. We're out of time. I can't tell you how many people said to me, No, why did you guys do that? I go, Well, for the very reason what Dr.
J just said, for that very reason, I had to come back next week to see what happened.

So let's just uh and I don't know if they're wrestling related or not, but let's uh fire your first question away.
So they heat it as A former professional wrestler, it was always told that Um To your old fans, to your old buddies outside the ring. Was that was that a fairly true statement, I guess, more or less? I mean, I oh, I yeah. Maybe you wasn't friends with everybody, but was that a fair statement?
Well, it's it's a great question. I guess how I would address that is: I guess it's like any, you know, you're working with. Trans America Insurance, right? And most likely, there may be some co-workers that you're not best of friends with, or maybe there's some that you just, you know, you just don't click with their personality or whatever, right? But, you know, but you're not, you know, having them over to dinner, you're not hanging out with them every day, let's say.
You have to work with them, but you're not the best of friends with them. And that's the wrestling business, in my view, that there were certain guys that I got along with great. And maybe some other guys I I honestly didn't care for their personality and or and/or different lifestyles, right?
So outside of the ring, there would be some decided different lifestyles, so very um very uh noticeable, you know, in terms of being different. And for that reason, I wasn't necessarily again having him over to dinner. And so no, we're not all buddies like everyone thought that we would be or thought that we are. That said, though, I will say, in that era of what many fans have called the golden era of wrestling, in that era, we had a very unique group of guys that. Just had a certain camaraderie with one another that even if you weren't best of friends, we were professional when we went in that ring to perform for you, the fan, to give you guys the best of what we had.
And so I guess that's the way I would address that question. It's a great question. The healer's been As far as I know, I'm going to jump shift and go talk about the WWF for a minute. WrestleMania three, they talk I know Ricky Steamboat talked about his match with the Macho Man Randy Savage, about how Savage was such a perfectionist, about how he had I think there was about two hundred forty three moves just hearing steamboat talk about it. That how Savage had them all planned out.
And Ricky, I'm going to guess, was right there with him. Nikita, you're in the ring. I've heard certain stories, especially maybe like Andre the Giant, who talked about we're going to call it in a ring. Yes. Here you are in the ring.
And y the bell rings. I mean, I guess you do the caller The collar arm lock. Collar elbow lock a hookup or what. Yeah. You've got that.
I mean, right. Are you nervous thinking? Everybody in this whole arena is watching me. I got to sit back and be on tune. I can't mess up.
If I do, I got to hide the mistake. I mean, how does. How does the wrestlers, the performers go in there And call it because I guess you're communicating with you and the other performer, the other wrestler, and you don't want to sit back and say, Tom, I mean it's dog, you can say cut like actors are in the movie. How do you go like that, Nikita?
Well, great question. And Savage was known for that, of wanting to go walk through and go through or talk through every single move from start to finish. And he was just known for that. Whereas the good majority of guys in the old school of wrestling, before writers who currently write out the match or write out the interview and all that, we were what I would call spontaneous and would do most of everything on the fly. And what I mean by that is we had.
You know, creative control in the ring of about probably 95 plus percent of the match, and which was the real art of the business, having the psychology and the ability to be able to go in and do that through what I call J verbal. And nonverbal cues. And obviously, if you're working what we call the program of the guy, you know, Vom Russell worked with, I think, Flair for like, I don't know, four, five, six months. You get to know the guy. And so, and night after night after night after night, in those days, we're wrestling.
You know, it's not like wrestling once a week. And so, you just kind of naturally gravitate towards knowing what the next move is or what we're going to do next. And again, through either nonverbal or sometimes verbal cues, there were certain ways we could communicate verbally, you know, without you, the fan, knowing that that's what we were doing, whether it would appear as though we're chewing the guy out or yelling at the guy or whatever when we're really barking out some order of what, you know, what we want to do next. And so, it was a real art to that. They've kind of taken that out of the equation, you know, and in the modern-day wrestling.
But that's how we did it. And very rarely were we in the same dressing rooms back in those days. You know, a lot of smaller buildings, high school gyms, armories, etc.
So, we'd be in opposite ends of the building. And so, therefore, you know all all we all we knew to do was was uh was to go in the ring and and as andre said call it in the ring you know and steamboat for the record Was one of the best at being able to do that, of being able to call it in the ring and spontaneously tell a story that would make sense to you, the fans, sitting in the audience and draw you into that story. He was one of the best at that.
So. Yeah. Got a big one right here, Nikita. This has been away on my mind for quite some time. I've heard the c I've heard Bobby Heenan and some other folks on their YouTube videos that talked about how Um Certain certain wrestlers or I remember It happened in the WWF with Vince, and Vince was talking about a possible run with Jake Roberts and Hulk Hogan.
He didn't do that because he heard fans chanting D D T D D T, I think whatever Hulk was on the snake pit. Uh Jake, so little interview time at one time, and Vince was thinking, I don't think he would I w I wouldn't like that because it would overshadow my my golden goose, Hulk Hogan. You've heard the cliché of people talk about We want to work with we want to put two guys together that's going to draw money. that's going to draw money. How do they really know?
If let's just say for the main event, No matter who it is, If those two guys are really drawing the money, when you have maybe a stat card, right? I mean, how do they really know? If somebody or two wrestlers together, whether it be, for example, Nikita N Flare or Nikita N Magnum or Dusty and Dusty and Flair. How do they really know? quote unquote if somebody is drawing the money and it's not maybe some of these underperforming guys on the card.
Well, I mean, it's a good question. And, you know, is there a real Metrics to it where you can measure each and every match as to who drew and who didn't? No. Short answer: no. But it became obvious to promoters over the years who could be a major draw.
just by their personality, just by the gates that were drawn.
Now certainly over the years you used the term stacked card.
So certainly over the years as they It wasn't always a stacked card. I mean, it might have only been Dusty and Flair at a main event with a whole underneath card that. You know, had they, one of them been in the main event, probably wouldn't have drawn the same. Gate.
so to speak.
So you do get to kind of know who's a draw and who's not a draw. Based on their talent and personality and reflecting back, keeping records of what the house showed. Especially the house shows in those days, what the gate is, you know, that's all record keeping and and and knowing. And for the record, you know, there were some main events who that didn't draw. They just didn't.
Um, and you kind of knew that too, and so it so it was kind of if you want to say, Jay, uh, a roll of the dice in a way, uh, you're hopeful that whoever you put in the main event, uh, you know, is going to draw, uh, but that's not a guarantee, right? And then what they would do then is just kind of some began to bolster the cards by putting, you know, other. Semi-main event and other talented matches, wrestlers, and matches on the card to make sure it would be a good gate, right?
So, like that, yeah, but that's that's how, but there's no necessarily no formula or no metric to you know to be able to fully measure that, but uh, but that said. All that said, typically, the guys on top in the main event. Got the credit, you know, for the gate. And for the record, if it wasn't a good gate, they also got the credit for that, too.
So it's, you know, oh, we drew six grand tonight at the show. Thanks, guys. Appreciate that. You know, so anyway, well. Dr.
