This is the Truth Network. Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest is set for one flaw. Introducing first, from Lithuania, he weighs 123 kilos, the Russian nightmare, Nikita Kolov. Welcome to another episode, Q&A with Kolov, The Devil's Nightmare. Welcome back.

Q&A with Kolov, questions and answers, where you get a personal phone call from the Russian nightmare, or sometimes I am privileged to have somebody in studio with me, like today, John Whaley. Welcome to Q&A with Kolov. Thank you. It's great to be with you.

Well, great to have you here. And this is always just an added little blessing for me to have somebody face-to-face. It's fun to call other people. And I do that all over the country. They call in from all over the country, even Canada.

I've had some calls up to Canada. Yeah, there's even some wrestling fans up in Canada, believe it or not, John. Really? Yeah.

So anyway, we have fun. And you got with one of your mentees there, young John. Yes.

So John and John, but he's not your son. No. No, he is. He's one of my Timothys, as I refer to him. A Timothy.

John, a.k.a. Timothy. Yeah.

Yeah, and you've been discipling him now, right? A couple of years. Yeah, and you've been doing that for several years now, right? Yeah, with several different guys. Several different guys.

And Lord, just put that on your heart to start grabbing some of these younger men and just sowing into them and pouring into them. I just really have a passion for that. I see this generation, and they're so hungry. I'm constantly telling the older generation, they're looking. They're looking.

As one Gen Z said to me, we are looking for spiritual mamas and papas. Oh, wow. To pour into our lives. Do you find, John, a good many of them? I know he's your pastor's son, right?

So I kind of knew that. But do you find many, or at least like some of the ones you've mentored or that they don't have a dad, or many of them are being raised by single moms? Has that been kind of your experience? That's part of the experience that some of them are from single mom homes, and they don't have a father figure in their life, and they're looking for that father figure. But there is something about this generation we refer to as the Gen Zs.

that I asked one time real quickly, and I'll share this. I asked a Gen Z. I said, describe your generation. And without missing a beat, she said, we are the first generation to grow up on social media, and we bought all the lies. And now we're looking for truth.

Wow. And that's why they're looking for older men and women who walk with God to speak truth into their life. And as one of them said, they said, in one group I was with, they said, don't teach us how to pray, show us how to pray. That sounds familiar almost. Jesus, how do we pray?

How do we pray? Let me show you. And so I've just had a passion for the last eight or nine years to pour my life into some young men and to come along beside them and spend time with them and speak truth into their life and pray with them and encourage them as they're walking through life and discovering God's will. We were the first group to grow up on social media, and we bought all the lies. Yes.

Wow. It makes me think of the difference between, I heard it referenced this way recently, truth with a little t, and then there's the truth with a capital T. Exactly. And being able to discern between the two, right? It's critical.

Well, that's pretty amazing.

Well, and you and I met just a while back at a roundtable, at a prayer roundtable. Yes.

Tanya Skelly, I think you guys were hosting this, and a friend, Frank Shelton, had invited me and just felt a connection. And, of course, you have your own show. You've got your own podcast, Rooftop Perspectives, right? Yes, Rooftop Perspectives, and just an opportunity to bring people on to tell stories of how they're joining Jesus in his mission each day and how they're following Christ. And it's really designed just to inspire Christians to join Jesus in his mission in their everyday lives and what that looks like.

And is that on, I guess, most of the podcast platforms? You can. You can find it on our YouTube channel, The Rooftop TV.

Okay. And then also it's on Spotify and Apple and all the major platforms.

Okay. John Whaley, Rooftop Perspective. And you're part of a movement, speaking of Rooftop, with Dennis Peathers. You're helping to—your goal in 2026 is to hopefully transform 100 cities, right? Take a minute and tell us about that.

Our heartbeat has always been to see the body of Christ unite behind the mission of Jesus. Because Jesus' heart cry in John 17 was, Father, may they be one. And becoming that catalyst for unity in cities. And so joining Jesus 26, we're looking at impacting 100 cities, bringing the church and the city together. There's only one church, many congregations.

Bring all those people together to talk about and learn about what does it look like to impact our city together as the body of Christ and turn our city upside down for Jesus. Can you imagine what would happen if 100 cities across America, Nikita, became committed? We're going to turn our city upside down for Christ and make disciples. Yeah, I think you mentioned it before that the potential is really for America to really turn a real corner in regards to that. Do you find, John, it seems like in my travels, I'd say in the last maybe couple years, I'm going to say the last couple, that there is more of a spiritual awakening happening in America.

Are you witnessing that? Yeah, there is. Back in 2023, when God visited Asbury, that began a whole domino effect with college students. I mean, we've seen well over 20 universities have a visit from God in the last two years, and this generation is really hungry for that. But that has created marketplace movements.

That's created in government. It's amazing. There is this spiritual hunger. I think people realize our answer is not in Washington, D.C. Our answer is only in God, only in Christ.

And so there is this hunger and openness. There's got to be something more. And so you find more and more people who don't even know Jesus. It's easier to have conversations with because they're looking for something. They know there's something missing.

They just don't realize it's Jesus. Right. I heard someone phrase it this way recently. and God has put that God-shaped hole in each one of our hearts, but people go out and try to fill it with sex and drugs and alcohol and success in business or whatever else right Everything and anything but the one thing Jesus who is the only one who can fill that void right in their life right Exactly. People are hungry.

And it's amazing when I just ask people a question, it's simple like, well, tell me about your spiritual journey. And some of the ways they answer that question gives you a lot of insight, but it shows me they're looking. They're looking for answers. They're looking for hope. And then I can say, well, can I tell you my story?

Can I tell you how I found hope? And that gives me the open door once I listen to their story to tell them my story about Jesus.

So pretty amazing. And people, how can people, how could pastors or others find this book, The Rooftop, A Crisis of Opportunity with Dennis Peathers? How can they find it? They can reach out to me personally at johnwhaley. at therooftop.org, and I can get them a copy.

We've mainly been distributing it ourselves through the ministry, and that'd be the easiest way. If they want to find out more about the ministry, just go to therooftop.org. therooftop.org. Can they find out more about the Join Jesus 26 movement, the 100 Cities on that website as well? Yeah, they can find and see what's happening around the globe.

We have a number of those events taking place this fall in Asia, across Asia, and across Africa. And the 2026 is going to be the West. We're really focusing on the U.S. and other Western countries. 250-year anniversary, right?

250-year anniversary of America. Great timing. It is. And God's raised up several movements with just a passion to see this nation experience another great spiritual awakening like it has in the past. And again, there's a real hunger, real hunger for that.

I think it was, I'm trying to jog my memory here. You may know better than me, but in the mid-1850s, I think someone by the name of Jeremiah Lamphere, if I'm not mistaken, a businessman, created a whole prayer movement that caught fire and was tied in with one of the awakenings. We actually refer to that as the Great Prayer Awakening because it was him and just a group and just meeting together. And then, of course, stock market crashed, and God used that as a catalyst, and people were desperate, and all of a sudden an awakening and just swept across America. It was amazing.

And speaking of prayer, I mentioned we had met at the North Carolina Roundtable. Take a minute and tell us the vision you and Tanya Skelly and the vision that you have for specifically North Carolina. But any state, you know, this show goes into a hundred different countries. But any state could potentially do what you guys are doing in North Carolina. What's the North Carolina Roundtable?

It's just an opportunity to bring prayer ministries from across the state together. We discovered that many of our prayer ministries across North Carolina don't even know each other exist. And twice a year to bring them together in the same room, to pray together, to collaborate, to talk about how they can support each other, and so that we begin exhibiting a really illustrating that unity that Jesus so prayed for in John 17. And we've had some great response, and we're excited. Our next one's in September, on the 16th of September in Charlotte, for prayer ministries across the state.

You're going to be with us sharing a word of encouragement. I am. I'm honored by the invitation and the opportunity. I really am. And so we're just seeing what God's going to do with that.

We have 100 counties in our state, and our prayer is that they'll become a prayer movement. We'll break out in each of those counties. Amen. And how would somebody, somebody who's in North Carolina, pastor or something, is there a website for the NC Roundtable? Off the top of your head?

You can go to pray-nc.com. That's the actually Pray North Carolina.

Okay. And then you can reach out to me as well, and I can share all that information with you. Awesome.

So if you're in North Carolina and or around the Charlotte area or just come on up from South Carolina. That's it. We'll welcome them all. We'll welcome everyone to the NC Roundtable. And maybe you come up and get a bird's eye view of what you can go back to your state and implement in their own state, right?

And see this moving sweep, this spiritual awakening across America, which many of us have been hoping for and praying for, right?

So pretty amazing. You're listening to The Truth Network and truthnetwork.com. Nikita Koloff here, and I am excited. Did you hear the huge announcement, the big announcement?

Well, it is Q&A with Kolov, John.

So I know I kind of put you on the spot today. I didn't give you much notice ahead of time. But I'd be curious to see a couple questions that you might want to throw my way, and we'll see what I can come up with as an answer.

So what do you got? One of the things, I really wanted you to speak in the spiritual warfare in relation to the fact your background's wrestling, years of wrestling, and the analogy there that you see between wrestling and the Christian life. That's a great question. That's really great. And I think the first time anyone's ever proposed it that way.

So I'm going to address it this way. We did for a number of years. And occasionally I'm still a part of these, not as often at this point. But we actually, John, used to do, and there are organizations out there in Texas, for example, there's a Christian wrestling organization. 20 plus years they've been doing these events in Texas where it's an actual wrestling event.

So people come and are entertained by four or five matches. But throughout the evening, there's either testimonies that are weaved in or at some point, like even I've been a part of many where we even gave, like I gave my testimony and an altar call and the ring became an altar Amen And had literally seen I would say hundreds but I realistically can say thousands of people that have come to Christ through these outreaches through these types of events which who would have thought in a million years you could combine ministry and rasslin', as they call it, down here in the South, right? It's rasslin'. It's rasslin'. You want them rasslers, Nikita?

And I'm like, if you say so, I guess so. I am, yes. Guilty. Guilty as charged. But all that to say, John, it's, in fact, I remember the first time I brought a buddy, well, Lex Luger, you see him in the poster there behind me.

He goes, now, where are we going and what are you doing? And I said, we're going to a wrestling show, but I'm going to share my testimony and give an altar call. He goes, really? I go, uh-huh. He goes, I have to, I later, he later had to admit, he was pretty skeptical all the way down.

I bet. Until in this little hot middle Georgia gymnasium packed to the gills, Over 100 people responded that night. Wow. And he was blown away. He's like, oh my gosh.

But I say that to say this. I kind of turned the wrestling match into an illustrated sermon to get more to direct to your answer to your question in that, at least in the old days, there was a good guy and there was a bad guy. And the bad guy was usually the villain, right? And the good guy was the hero, right? And so what I sometimes would have said to the crowd is, What you see tonight is the epitome of life itself, good versus evil.

And it's not hard if your eyes are open to look around and see there is evil in our world. There just is. But there's also an answer to that evil, and his name is Jesus. And so, you know, you're cheering the good guy, you're booing the bad guy, but that match is just an illustration of the warfare of life and that who are we up against, an enemy named Satan. And so we just turn that into an illustrated sermon that we think many of them just can understand that.

And then through that illustrated sermon of wrestling matches, we give them an invitation to accept Jesus. And many, many, many have.

Now, the other thing I'll note along that same line, so in projecting that to the crowd is the opportunity then for them to, you know, like you're discipling the young man sitting behind you here, is to get them plugged into like a local church or meet up with a local pastor, you know, or a local body of Christ.

So we don't just want to leave them hanging once we bring them to the wrestling ring. and lead them to the foot of the cross. We then encourage them and challenge them to get plugged into a church so that they can begin to grow in their walk with Christ as well. That's cool. Yeah, yeah.

So it's been a fun part. And a little other side note, too. You know, you used the word warfare. Man, I say all the time, and perhaps you do too, John, but the warfare is real. Even in the arenas, like on that given night, man I can see the warfare I can see people struggling you know I can see where they they want to make that they want to get up and walk forward to the ring but man the there's a real enemy that's like nah you don't need to do this man just trying to talk them out of it yeah just sit and be entertained and just enjoy the show you know you know so so I see all that say we give them what they want which is the wrestling which is what they came for but they leave with what they need which is the gospel message and a relationship with Jesus so cool yeah so So that's one way we do it.

That's awesome. Yeah.

That's awesome. So it's pretty fun. But the warfare is real. Anyone listening out there, there's probably a lot of people listening out there that would identify and say, yeah, the warfare is very, very real. Amen.

You know? I remind people every day we wake up in a battlefield and we go to bed in a battlefield. Yeah.

The battle never ceases. But if you know Christ, you've got the victory. And there's a reason. There's an Ephesians chapter six, right? Exactly.

About putting on the full armor of God because we need the full armor, right?

Well, why would he give us armor if we didn't need it? Exactly. Right? And so I think the challenge for everyone out there, the challenge for all you in listening land is, as each and every day, to not just pick up your cross and carry it, but to armor up, acknowledge and recognize that the minute you give your life to, I tell them, look, When you give your life to Christ, you hadn't jumped onto a cruise ship, and it's not all the food you can eat in a 24-hour period. You jumped onto a battleship.

Exactly. Put your armor on and get in the fray. Get in the battle. Don't just sit on the sidelines. Get in the battle.

Amen. No, that was a great question. You got another one for me? That was a good one you sprung on me there. I would love for you to comment on something you and I talked about the other day.

Okay. Because it's the same word that God's been giving me for the last two years, and that's that word urgency. Yes.

Yes.

Yeah.

So what's really stirred that word urgency in me is, of course, for all the Rasslin fans out there that listen to Q&A with Koloff, is the passion of Hulk Hogan. Yes.

and I just learned since I had that conversation with you, there's always going to be skeptics, right? Ah, you know, was that the real thing with Hogan or was that just another gimmick? And yeah, even for myself, like, you know, I've heard the stories over the years of some of my peers, you know. Wrestlers, John, if you don't know by nature, well, people in general, I suppose, but especially wrestlers can be pretty skeptical. Pretty skeptical by nature.

And so they see something, hear something. Because we're entertainment, therefore they think everything's entertainment. Exactly. And nothing's real. Including some guy giving his life to Jesus.

Yeah, that's another shtick, another gimmick for him or whatever.

So all that to say, so with Hogan, go back to Hogan. You know, people had their reservations or their skepticism about whether that was real or not.

Well, I can say that, again, my dear friend Lex Luger was invited to the funeral. It was invitation only. He received an invite and he went. And, you know, he saw an interview that Terry was his real name. And I saw the same interview.

And I just sensed a real sincerity, you know. And even the look in Terry's eyes and as he was sharing and speaking about how Jesus, how he encountered him and transformed his life, right?

Well, all that to say, his pastor, where the church is at, this little Baptist church in I think Clearwater, some of that area, Clearwater, Florida, he's the one who did the celebration, Hogan's celebration. and Lex said all the things he was sharing, including how Terry was in church every Sunday and brought people every week Like they maybe come to his like beach shop or whatever He said every single week he have guests with them He'd be bringing people. Every single week this last year of his life. And he said he was personally, like you're mentoring young John behind you there. He was mentoring and discipling Terry every week.

Every week he was pouring into, and Hogan was hungry. He was hungry to learn all he could about God and learn all he could about Jesus and just develop that personal relationship. And so his passing, along with several other things I've recently seen, you know, Ozzy Osbourne, right? I'm not an Ozzy Osbourne fan per se, but I know the name. And again, unexpected, right?

People weren't expecting Ozzy to pass away. But what just those two examples, John, among others I could mention, have placed in me is a greater sense of urgency to get the gospel message out there and the phrase, there is no promise of tomorrow. That's right.

So for everyone out there listening, you know, you're going to go throughout your day today. You're listening to this show right now. Do whatever you do, whether you're out in the marketplace working or you're at home raising babies and a stay-at-home mom or whatever it is. You know, we kind of assume you're going to get through today and put our head on a pillow tonight. And we've got our agenda set for whatever that is tomorrow, most likely.

But there's no guarantee of that, right? That's it. No promise of that. Exactly. So what would you say?

Last word, John. What would you say to that listener out there? Maybe they don't know Jesus, but they're listening faithfully to the Q&A show, or maybe this is the first time ever listening to Q&A. What would you say to that individual? For those of you that are listening, and maybe you're sitting there right now, and you're thinking, man, what's life about?

Is there any hope? And I'm just here to tell you there is a God of hope, There is a Savior of hope. His name is Jesus, who left everything, I mean left everything to become human, become one of us, just so he could do one thing, and that is to pay the price for our sin. The wages of sin is death, and he said, okay, I'll die for you. And to think about the fact that he died for us.

His death was my death. His death was your death, Nikita. Right. But then he conquered the grave, and there is hope. And when we simply understand that while we live in a broken world, God's designed from the beginning, he made us in his image to have a relationship with him.

And when we decided to choose our way over his way, which led us to brokenness, you already had a solution named Jesus, who came and sacrificed his life so we could have a life. And when we turn from living our way and say, man, I believe you, Jesus. I trust you. He will restore your life. He will give you a fresh start, a new beginning.

And that's where you're going to find that hope. And you may be listening today, and the only reason you're listening is God wanted you to hear one more time. He loves you. He cares about you. He made you to have a relationship with him.

And all you have to do is trust and just say, Jesus, I want to follow you. Yeah, there's no cookie-cutter prayer, is there, John? There's no cookie-cutter prayer. I'm reminded of the thief on the cross. Hey, Jesus, remember me when you come into your paradise, right?

Yeah.

And God's just looking at the sincerity of somebody's heart, right?

So for you out there listening, what John just said really touches your heart. There's no perfect prayer. There's no cookie-cutter prayer. It's just God's looking at the sincerity of your heart, and it could be something as Jesus, remember me when you come into your paradise. and just seek forgiveness and repent of your sins.

And he'll come, and he'll fill that God-shaped hole in your heart with him, with himself.
