You're listening to the Truth Network and truthnetwork.com. Welcome to another episode of Q&A with Kolov, The Devil's Nightmare. Welcome back to another episode of Q&A with Kolov, Questions and Answers. Hey, if you ever want to be on this show, go to kolov.net and submit a request.

You'll get a personal phone call from yours truly, The Russian Nightmare. And get to ask your questions, your favorite questions, or maybe something you've always wanted to ask a former pro wrestler and or now turned evangelist. But with me today, I have a newfound friend, a man about music. I have B-Rob with me today, aka Brian Robinson. Welcome to Q&A with Kolov, Brian. How are you guys doing?

Thank you, Nikitas, for having me. Doing wonderful. Doing well, doing well. Just enjoying another day in paradise. How about you, Brian?

Obviously, it's the same. It's a little overcast, but hopefully it'll rain because we need it. But it's been a beautiful couple of weeks, that's for sure, down here in the South.

That's awesome. Now, so tell our listeners, where in the South does Brian live? And just give us a quick backdrop on you and your family. I live in Evans, Georgia. I was born and raised in Augusta, Georgia.

Evans is about 15 minutes outside of Augusta, west of Augusta. And Augusta's obviously famed for the Masters tournament. And it's a beautiful city. It has a bad reputation, but it's a beautiful city.

And there's a lot of things on the outskirts, a lot of nature. And you've got Lake Thurman or the old Clarksville, and I'm only about five minutes away from that. And I was born and raised.

I don't know anything else. I lived in Columbia, South Carolina, for about 12 years where I met my wife and had my kids. But other than that, Augusta, Georgia is where I reside.

All right. And the bride's name is? Courtney Marie Robinson. She's actually from the big city of Milwaukee. Oh, she's up there in my neck of the woods.

Yeah. It's kind of a crazy story on how we met. I walked into a gas station when I was 23 years old in Lexington, South Carolina, and she was working behind the counter. In Lexington, South Carolina, at the gas station. That's where you ran into each other.

Yeah. And she told me, she said, God told me you were going to be my husband. But the first initial meetup, I asked her for her phone number, and she flashed an engagement ring. And I said, I'm sorry, because my parents had gotten divorced like three times over the same thing and got remarried. So I was like, I am not a home wrecker.

I'm sorry. And I just kind of walked out. But the crazy story is about two weeks later, she found me because she remembered me saying that I worked at Freeman's Jewelers.

She found me and came in and said, you still want that number? I don't have this engagement ring anymore. Oh, okay. Okay.

Well, that is a fascinating story. But wait, you just threw another little zinger in there, honestly. Your parents were married three times, like, way over remarried.

Divorce and remarry, divorce and remarry. Yeah. Yeah. My dad, the one that adopted father, he had a problem with adultery. Okay. Okay. We'll have to bring you on the Man Up show another time and talk about that whole story, because that could be a whole show in and of itself, right?

I mean, the challenges of marriage. And I know you were adopted about age three? How old were you when you were adopted?

Well, that's when he started playing the father role. They didn't actually adopt me until I was 12. Okay. Okay. Yeah, they had to send out letters and try to get somebody to respond, and nobody would respond within a year or so. It was kind of a weird process. Process there, yeah. Okay.

But it eventually happened. And for the record, do go over and listen to my full interview with Brian on the Man Up show sometime, because I know you'll be blessed by hearing more of his story. And so I know you played sports when you were young, but you had a real passion for music, and all these years later now, you travel, you play instruments, you sing with a variety of different venues, right?

And in fact, you recently came to Man Camp and wrote a song one day at Man Camp. Yep. Yep. And what inspired that song? Just being out there in God's nature? What inspired it?

Yes. And a lot of times in this world, we get inundated with so much electronics, so many things that occupy our brains that we forget to stop and give thanks and glory and praise to the one who actually made everything happen for us. So I just, you know, I had time to collect my thoughts in the woods without any technology, and had time to speak with the King of Kings, and he just laid some lyrics on my heart, and I jotted them down in a notebook, which I grew up doing and got away from for a little while.

But that was a blessing in itself. Always a blessing when God gives me words to put down on a piece of paper. Well, and even more amazing to me, though, Brian, is then not only just the words are, I guess what you would call, correct me if I'm wrong, but the lyrics, but then the music behind it, right? Like my youngest daughter, Colby, has been a professional songwriter for about 10 years, and she sings as well, and a lot of her own, a lot of original stuff on, you know, people go on Pandora, they'll get messaged every now and then. Yeah, I was listening to Colby Kolov, you know, and blah, blah, blah, and how blessed they are by some of her songs, and I've always been amazed, you know, her ability to do that, but just anybody's ability to not only write a song down and come up with the lyrics, but then the music tracks and all that behind it, and that's a real gift, and you've been doing that for a long, long time. Yep, yep, it's just, I don't know how to explain it because I never went to school for it, I just, the guitar was self-taught, the piano was self-taught, and I didn't even have YouTube growing up, so we took a cassette recorder and recorded our favorite songs from the radio, dubbed them, would you say, and then just went back and listened and hit the pause button, and went back and tried to emulate what we were listening to, and of course then later down the line you get with friends and they teach you a couple blues scales, a couple different new chords, and you read books and that sort of thing, and it's really an amazing gift that God just allows you to bring the melody to the lyrics. It really is, it's hard to explain, I just pick it up and start strumming, and it either feels right or it doesn't feel right, and if it doesn't feel right, we'll try it again some other time.

That song in itself was just some simple blues chords. That's pretty amazing, I know you sent me a demo version, a YouTube demo version, Worship You by B-Rob, with B-Rob, Worship You, and of course I know you go out and are available to go out and whether it's do worship or play at different venues and whatnot, B-Robmusic.com is a website where people can go learn more about you, and find your music, and you've got a podcast of your own, correct? Yep, it's called the Food for Thought Faith Cast, and the funny thing is I started out to be kind of a free speech podcast, and a lot of people called it the conspiracy theory podcast, Until it becomes true, right? Until it becomes true.

Well you know they say conspiracy theorists are up 17 to nothing right now, if you're keeping score. That's a whole other show, okay keep going, so the podcast, what's it evolved into? Yeah, about the 7th episode in, I woke up that day and somebody had tagged me on Facebook from a girl named Lindsey Jentz, and she lives in Texas, and so I called, I messaged her and I was like, they said you should do my podcast, and she was like yeah that's cool, what are we going to talk about? I said well what do you do for a living? She said I'm a massage therapist.

I said okay so you own your own business, let's do this. So I called her, and about 10 minutes through she started telling me her testimony like she shouldn't even be alive from a die diving accident, and how God saved her and this that and the other, and I'm over here just listening to God pour out on my podcast, just listening through her, and I'm over here fist pumping just like oh yes, this is it right here, this is the direction, because I had always thought about which direction should I just leave it open, which direction should I take the podcast? Well like I said, God hijacked it through testimonies and it was an amazing thing, and I have way more fun doing it now as a faith cast than I did at the beginning as a regular podcast. Well that's amazing. The Food for Thought faith cast with B-Rob, and of course you can check out all of his music, again, B-RobMusic.com, and if you're out there and interested in bringing him in, that's basically what you travel and do for a living right? Just travel and play music, sing.

Yep, that's what I did, I've been doing that since 21, I retired from the car business in 21, I was a finance director, and I just didn't want, I didn't feel like being somebody's slave anymore, so I did it, and I want to give all the glory to God, because without the God given talent, I wouldn't be able to do this without the ability that God gave me, I wouldn't be able to do this without the platform that God gave me, I wouldn't be able to do this. Yeah, that's amazing. Well, you are a blessing, and I would venture to say, with the camp inspiring you to write that song, your overall impression of Man Camp before we segue to your questions? It was simply amazing. It was simply amazing, and for those that don't know this, I only live about an hour and a half from Man Camp, so about 17 minutes from Man Camp, I was actually running late, and I looked on the GPS, it said 17 miles on the highway number 17, and then I looked at the time, and it said 3-16, so I immediately thought of John 3-16, and I knew I was going to the right place for a week. Wow, 3-16 in the afternoon, highway 17.

For 17 miles. For 17 miles, and God's into numbers, I'm not necessarily that guy, but I know, but I do know, you know, certain numbers, man, God really highlights, right, whether it's 40 days fasting in the wilderness for Jesus, or 3 days in Rose again, or 7 days, 7 the number of completion, right, 8 the new beginnings, and so many other things. And he was 33 when he was put to death in Rose? 33, so lots of numbers. All my seasons have 33 episodes.

I'm a numbers guy, so yeah, I'm a numbers guy, so I try to incorporate a lot of that. Oh, that's awesome. You're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com. Nikita Koloff here, and I am excited. Did you hear the huge announcement, the big announcement?

So what do you got first? Well, the first thing, man, what was it like, what was it like being an actor? Like what was it like being a, you're, you're basically a live action hero and you did your own stunts. So not only were you a star, a TV star, you did your own stunts like most action heroes do not do.

Like Sylvester Loeb, Arnold Schwarzenegger, they didn't do their own stuff, but Nikita Koloff did his own stuff. So how was that like? I mean, what was that like? That's a big, huge part of your life.

Yeah. And a great question. Cause I don't, I really don't think I've ever, ever been asked that one before. And you know, we, we were kind of a composite of, of many things, right? Whether it was a, I tell people from, from acting to stunt man, to psychologist, to, you know, to, to just a lot of different roles we played, you know, professional dancer and people are like, wait, what dancers? So, so if I take a minute to explain, when, when somebody watches a wrestling match, at least back in my day, I'll just speak for myself, right? Back in my day, you know, right there, there's, there's no, you know, cut, take two, right? Usually it was, you know, one, one, one take, whether it was a match or, or even an interview many times, right?

It was very rare that we would, we would redo an interview, you know? And, and by the way, for the, for the record, there were, there were no scripts. So you watch those old interviews in the eighties and nineties that I did, that was just 100% improv, right? So we were, I was also an improvisationalist. So, so those were improv. The majority of the matches, other than the outcome was an improv.

In other words, if I trusted Ric Flair for 60 minutes, 55 minutes of that was, was total improv. Whether it was through, through, um, um, um, in ring cues or, you know, verbal or even nonverbal cues, you know, as to what we were going to do next. And that was the art of the business. And then, you know, whether it's slammed through a table or slammed into a cage, um, you know, my body certainly feels the effects of it now. Um, but at the time, you know, it was just part of, part of the business, right?

It's just what it is. And so, and then the dance part of it, I want to explain that to folks too, for a moment, the dance part of it was, you know, it was, again, if it was a two man match, you know, or even a four man, you know, a tag team or six man or an eight man. You know, you guys had to be, you had to be able to orchestrate, you know, both in the ring and even what you did on the ring apron, you know, something that would make sense to you, the fan watching it unfold and draw you into the story. Right. So we were also professional storytellers. Right. So every night, every match was a story that we were trying to tell through our live action. Yeah.

I like to use the word live action hero to wrestlers because that's what it is. Yeah. Yeah. And, and, and, and so, yeah, so that, that's, that's what we do. We try every night, we try to, uh, try to tell a story and, and draw you the fan into the story. And so, so yeah, it wasn't always, uh, it's not an exact science. So I say that to, to mean, you know, guys can, you know, there's plenty of injuries in that business, even though it's entertainment, plenty of injuries, timing only has to be off a fraction, you know, or. That we're going to ask you that next. Yeah. Yeah.

Or a miscue. My uncle, yeah, my uncle was big into that and he's probably around your age and he was a big bodybuilder. And, um, I think he worked out with a lot of you guys in Atlanta and that sort of thing. And, um, he told me, he said, if you're off, if you're off a centimeter, you can get, you can get injured bad. If the choreograph, if the dancing is off by a centimeter or the move is off by a centimeter, just small inch, he said, you could be injured for life. And I think you just reiterated that.

Yeah. Cause you got, you know, I w so at my peak, I was 285 pounds and, and, and for those who, who know some of my story, uh, you know, the, my last match was against a guy named, he went as big van Vader, just for short Vader. And he was a legit 450 pounds and we were fighting out on the floor and he closed line me in the back of my head and, you know, pinched a nerve and left arm goes numb. And then I find out the next day, I had a hernia, you know, picking him up 450 pounds and, uh, had hernia surgery.

And, and so, yeah, just, we could walk right down the list of injuries that I sustained over the years, but, but knew it, you know, that was the risk I took, you know, in getting in the ring. So it was all part of it, just a part of it. So that's good.

You got another one for me? Yeah. Let me go away from wrestling and, um, just wanted to ask you, how did you get into ministry and when exactly did that take place?

Yes. So not on my radar, like many things in life at my life journey of like wrestling was not on the radar. Ministry was not on the radar, writing books was not on the radar, having a radio show on a podcast was not on the radar.

My goodness, there's a whole list of things, Brian, and, and, you know, the ministry side of it to specifically address your question, you know, didn't grow up in church, you know, also didn't grow up in Russia for those who've yet to figure that part out. Um, probably just burst somebody's bubble right there, but, but didn't, and, uh, but knew the story and, and 11 months after leaving wrestling, uh, at age 34, uh, I found myself at an altar surrendering my life to Christ. And, and, and I knew essentially I knew immediately that, that God had a call all my life to ministry.

I didn't fully understand what, what, what exactly that meant. But so over the course of the next five years, I was what I would call mentored and discipled. And, and God brought some really great people into my life and slowly doors of opportunity began to open for me to go share my story and, and testimony and, and then God began to just drop little, little messages on my heart that became sermons. And, uh, slowly but surely, uh, Koloff for Christ ministries was formed officially in 1998.

So it was about a five-year mentoring disciple, discipleship process that I went through. Koloff for Christ was launched in 1998, and then gosh, Brian, since that time now, uh, tallying it up 36 different countries, all 50 States. Um, the largest audience that I've spoke to, well, the smallest one to date is an audience of one, uh, the opportunity to witness to one person, um, and a former wrestler and lead him to Christ.

And then the largest audience to date, over 73,000, the Island of Jamaica. Uh, yeah, where I had, uh, and actually Lex Lugo was with me there and in Jamaica for, for that event, outdoor crusade. And, and now these, these man camps that, that Lex and I facilitate and gosh, there's just so many things that it's amazing. God's given me the, the opportunity to do so.

Yeah. And it, the, the, the amazing thing is, is you had the platform, you had a voice, you had the fame and light, just like Lex. I mean, there's so many of you guys that had the same first and then used it for God afterwards, which, which is, which is awesome because a lot of times it's the other way around. Yeah, I feel fortunate and I feel I can speak for Lex and, and saying that we, we feel fortunate that, you know, we have the success we had in pro wrestling, but now being able to take, like, like I just spoke at a men's dinner in, in, in South Carolina, uh, just last night. And there was, there was about a hundred guys there. And as part of the introduction, the guy introduced me, he said, just out of curiosity, how many of you, you know, watch this guy, I watched Nikita Kolov growing up, about two thirds of the hands went up.

I was like, wow, that's crazy. Right. And, uh, and then some of the stories they, they came up to the resource table and shared some of their memories of, of whether it was my career, just their memories of wrestling and, you know, Greenville Memorial.

auditorium, Spartanburg Memorial auditorium, you know, the different buildings that they used to go to. So it's, and that's the fun part for me now is just to hear some of their stories. Right. But, um, yeah, but, uh, and that's like, you know, so it's like, whether it's me having a wrestling platform or, or you with, with the music, uh, at the end of the day for, for those out there listening, you know, what, whether you're a CPA or you're, uh, uh, you know, a producer like Nixon across from me right now who produces these shows for me, whatever, whatever your gifts and talents are, man, use them for God's glory. Right, Brian. Right, right. Absolutely.

Absolutely. And that it's a simple, it's a simple, uh, it's a simple equation. It really is.

It's, uh, give it to God, give the glory to God. And it usually comes out okay. I tell you, I try to tell people it's not simple. We make it complicated, but it's not simple. We do. We do. We have a tendency in our human nature to make things much more difficult than they really need to be or, or, or really are. But, uh, but that's part of the challenge of, of just growing, you know, into the image of Christ.

Right. And, and learning those things as we go. So Brian Robinson, AKA B-Rob, uh, I want to encourage all of you out there, go to his website, brobmusic.com.

Check out his music, check out his podcast. And, uh, I know you'll be blessed. And, and if you, um, want to learn more, you've heard us talking about Man Camp, just go to mancamp.info, I N F O. And, uh, you can, uh, register, sign up right there, uh, for our camp.

We do one in the spring, one in the fall, and perhaps you'll have, uh, Brian, we never liked it to tell him really much about it because it's a different experience for every guy. Right. We don't want to build any false expectations. Right. Right. All I'm going to say is you deserve it to yourself to sign up.

That's good. You deserve it to yourself. Your wife deserves it. Your kids deserve it. Go sign up.

You won't be disappointed. And it doesn't matter. You sit there and I've had so many guys say, well, I can't, I can't get away for a week. God got you, man. God got you your whole life.

What you worried about a week full? Yeah. He's brought you, he's brought you this far, right? Right.

Right. He will not let you fail. He will not let your business fail. Well, in fact, I'm going to, I'm going to end on this note. You, yeah, I'm just going to tell on you a little bit here. You, you gave up, uh, some pretty high paying gigs, you know, musical gigs because it was actually, it was the master's week, right? That you came down to man camp and were willing to get up some pretty, pretty big paydays. But I think in return, God has really honored that and blessed you in return.

Yeah, absolutely. I gave up the highest paid week of the year for entertainment, but, um, it was, it was, it was a breath of fresh air because that five, six thousand dollars that I didn't make made way more than that. I made way more than that. And, and, and this life ain't about physical money or physical things or worldly possessions. It's about the grace of God. And, uh, it was, it was amazing to hit the reset button and, uh, I don't really care about those gigs.

I do care about my future and what it holds and, and, uh, I think that was God speaking and, uh, it's, it's good. Yeah. It's an amazing thing. Well, awesome.
