Brief statement about and I have faith alone in Christ alone.

But you don't have to go home to be married, but stay away long enough in relationship will be affected. I like the fifth residence. I don't have to go home, but if I don't go home the prom with me and Stacy is to be affected. Somehow, someway so is it true you don't have to be in church to be a Christian. While course, not because it's through faith but we say away long enough. It's Gallagher marriage, you become affected and things happen and we need each other church we need each other and you might not feel like you need anybody, I'm telling you you need somebody student's unique community.

You need community you need your crew you need one night you need your pastors and your amazing leaders because right now it is so hard to be a student right now you can't pay me enough money to be where you're sitting right now it's hard. And guess what adults the same thing for us is so hard in this world and are so much pressure there something beautiful that happens we do this right here this morning, give us three things this morning. Turn Ephesians chapter 4 and just a quick message that community and again you got no cursing takes note of this today, which I love to give you my three points and then when the sun pack grew quickly about communitywide community matters community matters because community focuses us upward .1 community focuses us upward. The second thing is that community focuses us inward, not just in word in here inward inside the church in the last one is community focuses us outward is not a nisei affected the tundra churches in the 80s and 90s I used upward inward and outward as their mission statement because it makes sense but that's also what community does. So the number one point is this first point is community. It focuses me upward. So today we did today and here's a couple subpoints. It's challenging me to grow to be more like Jesus. So today, even on the pier on the wall with a microphone on speaking today I am I am growing today.

I am challenged and inspired by by the worship around me when I can hear all of you sing in those songs with us and you just hear the voices singing. It is challenging me in my personal growth. It's challenging me to be more and more like Jesus. Ephesians chapter 4 verse 1 to 6 is either for a prisoner for the Lord. This is, I urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called with all humility and gentleness, with patients bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. I love verse 4 to 6. There is one body and one spirit. This is your call to the one hope that belongs to your call, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and father of all who is over all and through all and in all this is community of focuses me on God you notice, by the way, that as we are seeing in those songs that none of our names was in those songs we were singing those songs to me listen. And there's only been one known song is the one song that has my name in it.

Come on, the city has notes. When this is really only one song that has my name in it and he walks with me and talk and he tells me, that's the only son that is the only one that is an old school, Jesus, Joe, I figured out all the time in the 80s and the 90s about my name.

Hey, did you know your song. Your name is in the site. Yes, I know that so Alexander maybe do that song at the end. The song is it's not me is that you we came in today to worship one person amen somebody I really come to worship crossroads really come here to even worship church we came to worship Jesus. That's his name. His name is Jesus. And here's some beautiful things are Ephesians 4 that what happens when we focus on him. Did you catch them is the Lamb awfully real quickly.

We focus upward on Jesus that leads to a few things. Number one, it leads to humility. We focus on Jesus, we realize I'm not God. It's a good reminder sometimes is in it that I am not the Lord of all, I am not the Savior of anybody I am not God, and he doesn't need my opinion or ask my advice.

There is one God. So what happens when we worship in community like this. It's a reminder, it really is it's reminding me going handy. It's not about you, about selling the people like you are not would be to think of money or not, whether they think are good looking or they don't. Which most people do. So you know it's not about those things, even on matters of the matter. The what matters is Jesus, and sometimes we get in the way of a God's trying to do its humility and sewed together we worship is such a subtle reminder swipe to me. I love to close my eyes and with my hands in worship. There's nothing I love that so much as to make it through all the distractions and it makes me in this surrender posture to God.

That's why do it, I'll do for show. I'll do because the song at one time says lift your hands if it like I do it because it is a sign of surrendering because not about me and I love that about community also brings gentleness as you catch that when we worship and we walk in a manner worthy of the calling. It is about gentleness. The way we talk to one another how we think of one another are actions towards each other.

See when we focus in community on Jesus, we are able to be at church is gentle doesn't mean we waiver it doesn't mean that were soft and our belief doesn't mean were soft in our theology does mean that I would back away from hard conversations but, you know, we can have difficult conversations standing on God's word gentle gentle dear wonder why Jesus was able to speak hard trues the people and they wanted more is gentle in his own words in the Bible so that he is gentle and is kind and spirit to walk in the worthy manner of Jesus means that we also are gentle and kind and other as a community as a reminder of that gentleness and he talks about patients being patient with one another. Jesus is a huge piece is a huge indicator right of community that as a community of believers as we focus upward to Jesus than one of the things in my life. I have to be patient. Patient with my family with myself with you. Every patient with people on the road. I've gotta be patient. Part of it. But then he hones in on one word, that word is unity out occurs right that were down three always wears down the unity and then he unpacks unity.

In other words, when we are together in a community of believers and we are focusing our attention upward on who God is. Today it translates to gentleness and patience.

It translates to two bearing one of those burn the transit South also.

It also makes us one must seem obvious.

Sometimes churches of the most divided places on a Sunday morning and I'm here to tell you that in unity in Jesus. It is about what what he says it's it's one hope there's one hope that we have today. And it's a person's name is Jesus. We just all agree on that. That's the hope.

Now it translates in a lot of different things, but we have one hope we have one Lord, I was talking to somebody.

Recently we've been having a lot of people come to know Jesus. Over the last several weeks, especially which is so wonderful. I love that about having conversations with people that are making a decision for Jesus it and and recently had a conversation with somebody would just accept the Jesus here on a Sunday and they were trying to understand the difference between Savior and Lord. That's a great question and listen. Jesus is already the Savior of the world. He and he came to seek and the save that was all he is the Savior of the world is the Savior of our life. But my question to us is is he the Lord of your life meaning. He wants to be Lord over every part of your life.

That includes your attitude that includes your lifestyle that includes how we walk and how we talk. That includes every single piece of me is see the Lord. There is one Lord, your finances is not you, Lord, your career is not your Lord, your relationship is not your Lord, your hopes is not jewelers one Lord, and we focus upward in worship. It brings us to that one Lord, which revolves around one faith, one baptism and one God, and what I love. One of the things one of the things I love most about our church is the unity that we have in the middle of diversity. I love that about our church diversity from everything from where we grew up to our backgrounds for social economics to the color of our skin, even down to political parties and different backgrounds that we have it.

There is a oneness that will become under the name of Jesus and ominous speak this now and want to keep speaking this and you know my heart and this we will not allow politics or race to divide this church will not will not allow, and why did I say those two things because those are the two things that are coming down the barrel of this fall, and every time this happens every time this election season that happens I see the devastation that happens as your pastor, it is not coming to the walls of this church, I'm here to preach the gospel and preach his message and that's organa do and would like to elect God and his Holy Spirit easy to leave. He's gonna direct listen, we all got ideas we all have our opinions. I got some strong opinions and strong ideas, but they do not outweigh the gospel they don't. Sorry, speak the truth and receive the gospel.

We will not be divided over that if you want to get divisive.

I got you list a bunch of churches eager to have fun.

You have all the divisiveness you are and here's why.

Right community matters. I want you to come here and feel like you belong. You belong and that doesn't mean that we don't disagree and it doesn't even mean that when I can speak things that you don't agree with what it does mean is that we love you and we care enough about your soul that it matters, is a just as you say everybody is welcome which is true.

We love everybody. Which is true.

It does not mean here's the other thing that I think you know about his mother said to be on record. This church will never water down the gospel out of fear what anybody's going to say or do we never will do that when I get I tell you why God and write the Bible.

Salgado defendant thing I can think your problem you can talk to God.

That's it. My job is liver solicit Mrs. Galloway. You have a great family you're part of a great family and we love that you're here.

We love you enemies order speak archers to each other but neither were to be family together and were not to be divided over and I'm part part of the Abina Shepherd part of my job in your shepherd is to get the wolves out of the sheep and so listen nobles allowed right imperfect people absolutely allow flaw people actually allowed redheaded people preferred right right, looking around like that he just two of us and we work on that we work on that assist me in you that I think there's going and we got free to address your fourth month, see Garcia for that's you know this trial. How safe Antonio say fans regarding say what were growing growing. I love that we can be so different and be so together is not something special.

It's only in church, by the way, did you find this and again I can find this anywhere else ever rose assistance divisiveness. You are the nicest divided it's only on a Sunday morning at a place like Crossroads that we can all come together of all of our differences. And yet at the same time be united is not amazing. That's why this is important. I love it love it. Number two.

Second point is community.

It focuses me inward.

Now, not just in word, in my own heart, but in word into the care of one know that's what I mean by this, by the way, so focusing us upward means that were all here together will worship the other worship one God together, focusing inward means that were here to care for one another again. One of the things I love about the church is how we care for each other.

Hebrews chapter 10 verse 24 is is let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together some of the habit, but encouraging one another.

One of the greatest things about the church is that we are encouraged towards love and towards good works, and we are encouraged to encourage one another is not a beautiful thing about what we do here. So hopefully what will happen. I hope and pray that what happens on Sundays when you come if you notice, walk away, going what I was a nice service. I hope that you come and that you are encouraged to leave here to go do good works and go love people.

That's were called to do and what Hebrews is saying is that when you gather together what's happening is that there's a stirring that should happen, and there's a Holy Spirit stirring in our hearts that should happen.

Were we feel like we should go love people more.

We should go for avian encouragements of people like that's the kind of stuff that happens in here Ephesians 5 it says therefore be imitators of God walk in love, as Christ loved us in first Thessalonians 511 says therefore encourage one another, build one another up. I love that about what we get to do you know it honestly for for me and again this is maybe just for me but I see it happen often. One of the things I love about coming to church here is I leave you're always encouraged. I always leave here encouraged Stu. I leave her occurs because a you believe it or not, because of the church family shaken hands, hugging with one another. Praying for each other. There's so much encouragement in that one of things I love the most. Quite honestly, I love speaking. I look for each other doing God's work. I love just being on the hallway you find out there every Sunday. I just love being out there because of his love the encouragement toward each other. You know what this is and this is true. I pray for a lot of people in here the most most the people that I pray with her on the hallway because people just come up in there, and the like, hey Jesus, pray for me absolutist. For right now we just find encouragement with one another. Something about that so tangible to the encouragements of Fray James chapter 5 verse 13 it says that if anyone among you was suffering. Let them pray and pray semi-sick colony owes a church to pray over them in and it talks about the prayer of faith and confessing our sins to another were healed in the prayer of a righteous person has great power as it's working. I love love you, that were lots of eggs and eat it lovely to pray for each other to me being on the pray over our elementary kids this morning that that was a spiritual thing.

I took that so serious you.

We are able to look into some of the eyes of some of these kids that are appear this knowing the journey that they're gonna take what this world can be like in the next 20 years, and that doesn't drive you to your knees. The pray for our kids. I will know what will will will and here's why love that we pray together and will give you six refrain for our high scores and college students in middle school students at the end of the service. One of the things that I really enjoy is at the end of most of our services will just pray for people front and here's why. Will simply why I believe in the power of prayer. Plain and simple like that said, I believe that when we pray God can answer in my part is the pray. It's God's part to answer to any opportunity we have to pray for one another to encourage one another is an opportunity that you and I should absolutely take and take serious sues. I can't wait to pray for them. The service and I was let you know whether your college or high school or middle school. Whether your teacher. I want you know that you have a church is getting praying for you.

Not just pray for you today, but actually praying for you moving forward and we believe in that power. I believe in a God that does miracles I do I believe in a God that heals. I don't know why anybody would want to serve a God that they believe doesn't do miracles anymore. I have no understanding of that theology. I just cannot get my mind around why somebody would even believe that all the miracles are done, all the signs are done and God is in healing more. Why would you want to serve a God doesn't even heal anymore numbness or tell you we send out one or two, but multiple people just the last two months in this house get physically healed by things in their life, that that's that's not made up like that's real God doing miracle stuff. I love that we can just give the opportunity for that we can encourage one another, not just with a handshake with her kind word, we can encourage each other with our prayers, we can bear one another's burdens.

The center part of this together rights is not just encouragements is not just loving good works, but we have to bear each other's burdens, it and again I want her to forget the last final point will quickly.

Don't ever feel ashamed or guilt driven when you coming to this house because what happens is the enemy will love you to feel guilty and you don't share your burdens with us is amazing how the enemy works like that. It's also most ironic like go to church. Then he says will don't say anything if you were to judge you don't share your broken heart weakness because people don't think differently. Don't open your mouth income for prayer and said that you need prayer because you're struggling in error because were people you think about you. Amazing how the enemy does that yet.

This is the very place where it says the come to confess your sins to bear one another's burdens. This is the community that that's supposed to happen so I want to give you.

Hopefully, a freedom sense that that this is not a place I am not your judge, there's only one judge's name is God the father is the judge I am not here to convict you of your sins.

There's one person that does that is the Holy Spirit. Our job is the love you well to encourage you. Well, the teacher sound doctrine and theology, and to get you in the word and the pray and encourage one another, that is the simplicity of what we get to do.

Do not let the enemy cause you to come to this building with your head down and your shoulders down this pray with one another. Let's bear each other's burdens. The third and final point is this somewhat closer community focuses us outward.

It has to because if not, then all we are is a social club on Sunday mornings and I don't want that.

It will focus outward in all we are is a church in Raleigh that all they care about is numbers and butts in the seats and finances of the stuff we get to do and in no no no no no, we focus on God upward and we care well for one another, and it has to translate outside of this building. It has to translate in our community.

I love that we are church that loves to see our community transformed the transformer triangle world, such as a catchphrase that is something that we hope is something that we are to go of your ZIP Code.

Hopefully give you the encouragement to stir in you, the works in the good works in the heart to go and actually love our community well to love your ZIP Code which is your school, it's your workplace at your neighborhood. Our communities well, it's that additional focus of our schools surgeon beginning 18 years ago went down to the school and the love again. The word church that that loves our community that we love our partnerships and we love partnering with people we are partnering with organizations are partnering with schools. Why do we love to do that is nice that crosses gets famous.

No is because we generally love the community how we do that because we love God and love one another well below the commission a cosmetic 28. 19 go therefore and make disciples of all nations.

That's our job. It's about going acts one a is is you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you and here's why we have the power the Holy Spirit is not just we have gifts is not just that we can use the gifts inside of the church. It is to be the witness of Jesus to the rest of the world that's wanted that's what is it your seapower and then you're going to go to Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria to the ends of the earth and Ingleby witnesses.

That's why we have power. James 127, speaks about pure religion a pure religion that that is undefiled is one that focuses on widows and orphans.

The only use those two is an example of this outward stop. The list keeps going, if we have a right relationship with God, church that we will care well about our community will be focused on our community. Matthew 1615. One final verse he said to them, going all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. This is what we are supposed to do and we do that well. We will love our community well our external community. Our cities are towns, our schools will love them well. We are focused upward. We focus in caring well can hear because inevitably that will spill out into our community and
