We encourage you to visit, cross the bridge.com to study the Scriptures along with Pastor David. But right now open your Bible to the Old Testament book of Job and follow along for today's teaching in this series of special weekend edition programs. Pastor David has been teaching practical lessons from the life of Joe the book of Job is one of the oldest books in the Bible we are finding out that what needed to be learned. Back then, still needs to be learned by us today as we continue studying Chapter 9 and now here's Pastor David.
Slick Joe chapter 10 now there is no J in the Hebrew alphabet, so there is no good Job in the Hebrew Bible, what you have is the Job, so why OB instead of GAO be do you think that's more from the saving Job or job summary people. One is a joke as a job. Now it's Job actually know Joe obviously is in a bad place, but even so there's a couple things in this chapter that show us that he is home about two years. We look into the new living translation, we can gain some insights here. First one in the new living translation says I am disgusted with my life that me complain freely map better so must complaint one of the things about the book of Job is that it's recording conversations back and forth, back and forth and such a large percentage of it is Job's friends lacking compassion.
Lacking grace lacking love were not total of when we feel like as mere fact. Agape love is unconditional love.
And so if you're walking in agape love.
This can be times when you don't feel like loving but you do it anyway is safe to say that Jesus didn't feel like going to Jerusalem probably and feel like hearing that, but he did it sometimes as well and you just have to vent people say that or just have to say how I feel. You don't if you're in a bad place. One of the worst things you can do is talk because you're listening to yourself is not the solution.
And so, here's the life lesson in Indio after templates go to the Galatians 5 verse 22. For the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. How do we express those things with what we say so often, so here's the life lesson if you feel angry, jealous, hostile, coral some divisive don't talk, send emails Facebook post tweets, text or other forms of communication in two you feel love and joy and peace and kindness and faithful and gentle in the spirit is leaving again a man makes, if you're feeling hostile and bitter tone expressed Thursday. I will say to God do not condemn may show me why you contend with me doesn't seem good to you that you should (should despise the work of your hands and smile on the counsel of the wicked. What do you gain about pressing me why you reject me. The work of your own hand while smiling on the schemes of the wicked in a lower point out what's solid, then, not solid. If you look at that God has created us and if you have rejected Jesus, and are still rejecting Jesus is an accurate statement to say that God is rejecting the is that the state that Job's relationship with God was God smiling on schemes of the wicked. Now was God rejecting Job now actually the very opposite. It's interesting. Job feels that God is so presently he feels that God despises him.
Hate to bother what he feels with the facts and friend. Sometimes you feel something now you absolutely feel it.
The feeling is not an accurate one. That's why we've got to be very very careful with England's, and we subject our feelings to the word of God was look at verse four. Do you have I use the flash he's talking to God or do you see as man sees no are your days like the days of a mortal man are your years like the days of inviting man that you should seek for my iniquity and search out my sin, although you know that I am not wicked, and there is no one who can deliver from your hand your hands have made me and fashioned me, an intricate unity, yet you would destroy me, so Job makes this and in verse eight he makes this incredible statement to God. Your hands made me you fashioned to be an intricate unity, yet you would destroy me. Job feels like God wants to destroy him. Is that why God wants to do now you think Job felt like God wanted to destroy yeah I can see it was remember Job been through a lot. It's interesting that he says God wanted to destroy him because here's the life lesson God had forbidden the enemy to destroy Joe God had forbidden him to destroy Joe. Not only is God not destroying Joe God is getting the enemy from destroying Joe to this is Job chapter 1 verse 12 and the Lord said to Satan, behold, all that he has is in your power. Only do not lay a hand on his person. So Satan went out for the presence of the Lord so was God completely destroying Job now it if you like it. Joe probably wasn't actually happening. No trust your feelings. It's interesting that people are beginning to more and more abandon the theory of evolution or their adopting different catalyst scientist to completely rejected creationism are now believing in a series that includes an alien race seating.
The earth was and procedure something in the region are doing this is because they've got a few challenges that you just can't overcome with the theory of evolution of the progressive being one of the huge challenges is DNA. It's complete its intact.
It's amazing. 1 g of DNA can store 700 TB of data that's 14,050 GB Blu-ray disc in a droplet of DNA that would fit on the tip of your pinky store the same kind of data on hard drives against the storage medium used today. You would need 233, 3 TB drives weighing a total of hundred 51 kg, Nike was 2.2 pound you're looking at DNA that is beyond human explanation is too much information in their we can explain it away. God created God made the heavens and the earth.
God did that and he said it was good. God then created us and said it's very good amen and praise God discovers not remember.
I pray that you have made me like clay and will you turn me into dust again. Did you not pour me out like milk, and curdle me like cheese includes me with skin and flesh and knit me together with bones and sinews you've granted me life and favor in your care has preserved my spirit spent bad dark an inch. Weeping may endure for the night but joy comes in the morning and the new living translation is versus you gave me life and showed me your unfailing love life was preserved by your care. Verse 12 is just a ray of light on a dark day you have granted me life and favor God has given us in his word. What we need to have for life and peace.
It says that Obama, the Bible will help unless to move toward that God-given image that restoration that that healing torch that far too often. I guess we just listen, here's an example. First Corinthians chapter 2 verse nine says this is what the Scriptures mean when they say no. I have seen, no ear is heard in the mind is imagining what God is prepared for those who love them now free people use that verse will refer the first quote that verse of her pastors teach and preach on that verse and then just stop for pastors use that verse in funerals and just stop and 60. We don't know we can't tell who know the wise see no ears or it just wouldn't last very long in a verse by verse, church, let me show you why. First Corinthians chapter 2 verse nine. Many of us avert verse nine less of her verse 10 but as it is written is not seen, nor ear heard, nor is entered in the heart of the man, the things which God has prepared for those who love them. God has revealed them to us a man through his Spirit.
For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. God is revealing the things DMP is revealing him to me.
Do we deserve it now were like babes, but he reveals these incredible things to us. He reveals how much he loves us intricate of creation.
We are we have his favor is grace in the new living translation is versus a.
This is what the Scriptures mean when they say no, I've seen no ears heard no bonds.
Imagine what God is prepared for those 11 verse 10, but it was to us that God revealed those things. My spirit for spirit searches out everything and shows us God's D secrets within the next verse. So here's a Bible study to retake notes. We encourage you to jot this down to get the clear meaning of the Scripture use your 2020 vision 20 verses before 20 verses after and you will have 2020 vision. In other words, when somebody uses a verse in a solid. It means this.
Don't just take that for granted. Read the 20 verses before read on first read the 20 verses after and you'll know what that verse makes this mighty try to tell you see this purchasing. We don't know anything about this, you would read to 20% for 20%. I said no, it says that it's been taught to us by the spirit and the first 13 anything you've hidden in your heart and know that this was with you if I said then you mark me and will not acquit me of my iniquity if I am wicked bloated me if I am righteous, I cannot lift my head through see my misery in my head is exalted you at me like a fierce lion, and again you show yourself awesome against me so close but so far God is awesome.
But he's not against Joe. He's not against you if you've accepted Jesus as your Savior. He is not against you regarding goes off the track. Interesting thing because Job's all this emotional pain. He says it of been better.
If not, would not have been more. He says that because he was feeling a lot of emotional pain at that moment. As I was praying and reading the day is one of the things the Holy Spirit impressed upon me is a life lesson. The book of Job has given hope and encouragement to count us billions of people over time to lose all that so that Job could avoid his personal pain would be selfish.
Job was saying, I am in such emotional pain. It would've been better if that would've not been born. But then millions and probably through time.
Billions of people would not have been ministered to through the spell we would not have had the story of Joe, which incidentally is not only in the Bible but pops up in all sorts of extra biblical text and other manuscripts and pitch it to manuscripts and even a manuscript going back all the way to do thousand BC. We've had the story of Joe and now you know I don't know if you're reading along with me or you've gone ahead and read the book. I'm gonna risk smaller over here you can put your fingers in your exhibit, but in the end it goes well for Job okay he's restored even beyond. And so it ends with a good day and Job's assault, but there was a season when I was in pain so I would just rather not last million millions and millions of big selfish things they Pastor David will be back in less than one minute. As he continues teaching in the book of Job. A great way to start out each day is with a practical email devotional every morning from Pastor David visit cross the bridge.com to start receiving yours for free. If you have a cell phone. You can also text the word encourage 294253 that's 94253 to receive a short encouraging text from us each day, and now back to the teaching in the truest sense of the word, the pastor doesn't choose to be a pastor. He's chosen because sooner or later there's those times there's those moments when man calling him would not be enough.
So we have to know who lives called us in and know that God sacrifice were called to endure some pain, but one of the things that happens when were in pain and one of things that happens when were in fear as well because her mind doesn't work the same and you are not able to think clearly. They studied extensively in the financial markets of if somebody is fearful their decision making ability could bring down your perception, their perception of themselves, people around them etc. etc. so again when you're fearful your perception of who you are in the Lord gets more difficult to hold onto one of the things that's not in this chapter we need to remind ourselves of his retirement, Job, Job's friend, God, and were listening to Joe talk about God describe God. The joke is in a bad place right now.
Describe God so in trying to look at who God is less hear from somebody that sent out better places you will and that would be the disciple John who talks about love extensively in first John second John third John first John chapter 4 verse 78, he says, beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God, and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love and then first John 416 and we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love and he who abides in love abides in God and God in him now is a lot in the New Testament gets in the New Testament we talked about the law first mentioned before and that is the first time the word occurs in Scripture it's of greater ports or significant which interesting about the word love is the first place. It appears the Bible is Genesis 22 a program in Isaac that Abraham loved Isaac it speaks in reminds us of John 316 for God so love the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God didn't send his son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved. We could get really lopsided, especially reading this chapter tonight other than first 12 which again he got her unit or regulate their because Job he still forsaken busy now.
Have you ever felt forsaken, maybe worried, no, I have did God forsake me know. Did it feel like it so that my feelings were lying to me yes and if you ever feel like God has forsaken you.
Your feelings are lying to you.
You realize your feelings can lottery in my role as a okay remember when you're in high school and you just absolutely need that the person you were dating was the one now probably 2% of your right, but the other 90%, even though they felt that they knew it was truth of our lives, so your feelings allowed to. Job felt forsaken, but he wasn't. Maybe you felt forsaken that you have been and here's the sad spiritual irony of that don't quit feel like that please don't feel like that effort and her again to some right now. Please listen and this will help you from ever feeling like God is forsaken you ever again. Matthew 27 verse 45 is now from the six hour until the ninth hour there was darkness over the land and about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli Nemec Sabatini that is my God, my God, why have you forsaken me see Job felt like that he was wrong when you feel like that you're wrong when Jesus felt like that he was right and he was forsaken, so you never would be. Don't feel forsaken, because you toss his sacrifice aside when you do that he did that not only so you could be free so that you could sense and feel that you were free and Job and forsaken by God now did you feel like it. Yes, Jesus been forsaken by God's, and he felt like it. What is it feel to be forsaken by God. You know what if your saved you will never know if you are not saved, you will know. That's why we spent so much time and energy and effort telling people is if you don't know Jesus, you will be forsaken by God but help pull his hand back from you in the main thing that makes hello hello is God won't be there and in the sense of his presence. The way you will be in the heaven and you remove the presence of God came in I went looking at this chapter today in the I even went back to chapter 9 God Joe give me something man you just really freaking out here again sort of understandable. No wonder what would've happened if Job would had friends that when the Fashioning and they would've encouraged him what that would've been lying what this book could've red light. People need encouragement they need godly biblical encouragement. Last Sunday was Pentecost that the picture of the two loaves of bread priest waving the bread and there's a picture there of the leaven in the unleavened come together. The Gentile and the Jewish come together and was sitting there reading chapter 10 in St. Joe Pinot Gris got the ray of sunshine here in verse 12 tells I was looking over the chapter 9 engineer bio and maybe calendars Bibles warehouse processes and that they have little Starley have some little more. There's nothing in chapter 9 answer general and here's what's interesting Job chapter 9 verse eight says he alone spreads out the heavens, and treads on the waves of the sea when the new living translation, Job, chapter 9 verse eight says he alone has spread out the heavens and marches on the waves of the sea, walked on the water to conversion on he made the bear, Oriana Bentley 80s in the chambers of the South is talking about stars and constellations created stars in the sky resistant verse 10 he does great things past finding out, yes, wonders without number in the new living translation says he does great things to marvelous to understand he performs countless miracles who did so many miracles that you can, Jesus here in those three verses Job is actually pointing towards the Messiah of the Redeemer. He had 2000 years BC possibly the words already looking towards the Messiah in Job chapter 19 verse 21 he says this, he says, have pity on me, have pity on me, all you my friends for the hand of God has struck me know. Here's the interesting thing were going to come back to this later but not tonight.
But later on Job chapter 19 verse 23 says all that, my words were written all that they were inscribed in a book Jones in this book writes down all I wish somebody would write down these words and read up.
They've been recorded for billions of people. Joe chapter 19 verse 23, 24 getting better all that my words were written all that they were inscribed in a book that they were engraved on a rock with an iron pin in the lead, forever. The digit words would last forever.
They have they have in the next verse Job 1925 in his pain and his agony, Job declares, for I know that my Redeemer lives and he shall stand at last on the earth. Job chapter 9 is finished. Verse 33. Nor is there any mediator between us may lay his hand on my spell. That's the pain. Joe assumed there's no mediator. God does know Mike the 29th. I was so green watching on travel program and they had a little place were different. Mary's were that I think there were five or six of South American city and they would take the Marion carrier through town and people would say we look upon her and we pray to her, so that God will not be map with us.
Mary's human believe that Mary was born without sin rarely get that from about.
We do have a mediator but is not married. Do you hear Job's pain. There's not a mediator. I don't have somebody and yet he says my Redeemer lives.
We see but he doesn't have. I want you to close your eyes here in which push-ups and greens for closure as a mastery that I campus if your drive and listen. A smart phone, don't closure us but for moment, close your eyes and imagine you're in this place where you know the Redeemer's coming, but he's not here, that your sins are being added every time you commit. It's one more to the list all the sins of your youth on the list all your public sins all your secret sins. Only list.
No eraser though Redeemer yet. You know, and you believe once it is not here yet.
Imagine being there. Maybe it's not so far off. Maybe you simply just need to remember what it was like before you ask God to forgive you. First Timothy 256 for there is only one God and only one mediator who can reconcile God and humanity, the man Christ Jesus.
He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time and we can either be our own high priest, or we can let Jesus be our print sometimes even when we make them high priest we grab a bag know so maybe you've grabbed control back maybe you had him be your high priest, but then you started trying to earn it and turn it, let him be your high priest if you want to ask God to forgive you fresh fresh mercy or fresh grace, right now you been listening to Pastor David McGee on the cross the bridge weekend addition tuning again next Saturday afternoon at 430 Eastern and 130 Pacific time as Pastor David continues teaching lessons from the life of Job. You can start your new life by praying something like this from your heart. Dear Jesus, I believe that you died for me that I could be forgiven.
