This is for Wednesday, May the seventh. You're listening to Clearview Today with Dr. Abbadan Shah, a daily show that engages mind and heart for the gospel of Jesus Christ. I'm Ryan Hill.

I'm John Galantis. Welcome to the Clearview Today studio. Got a great conversation for you guys today. Great things have been happening here at Clearview Church. Great things have been happening in our nation.

We're going to celebrate that today, but first we have to introduce the host with the most. He's dropping truth from coast to coast. He's got a mic in his hand and the word in his heart. He's breaking it down. He's pulling lives apart. Pulling lives apart? That did not sound right.

It was going great right up until the last show. That's hilarious. I just typed in. I was sabotaged by AI.

I typed in make me a poem in chat GPT. So it said he's breaking it down, pulling lives apart. It was going to say from lives. Oh, okay. Hold on.

Let me continue. He's breaking it down. Pulling lives apart from lies from fear, from doubt and shame, lifting up Jesus, not just a name. So tune in, lean in, don't scroll past. He's bringing the gospel loud and fast.

Ladies and gentlemen, it's Dr. Abbadan. Okay. All right.

It got better. So it's not lives, it's lies. Pulling lives apart from lies.

Pulling people's lives away from... The way the cadence hits, it's unfortunate, but it does fix it. I thought I was going to be slick. I tried to sneak that past the audience.

Like I was thinking of it. I just typed in, give me a, give me a, give me a poem for introducing a radio host. And I didn't, I didn't proofread it.

That's not bad though. That was, as intros go, you could have done worse. Dr. Shaw, as a, as a scholar, you got to proofread your work. Am I right? Would that have ever flown past a dissertation committee?

Based on the rest of what that statement said, it would be fine, but I'm just, I'm sure it would have been flagged. At least there would have been a little sticker. So if you don't know how dissertations are critiqued, once you do your draft and then you give it to your mentor and then it makes it to the first reader, second reader, and they will all put their, their notes in there. And usually they're supposed to have these little sticky notes, things in it with the arrow or something. The good ones do that. The not so good ones just kind of right on the side, which is fine, which is fine. I'd rather use their, take their comments rather than their method of like, and then they put arrows there and, and then they, you know, write the comments on, fix this grammatical issue.

Where's the source, illogical argument, those kinds of things. Oh, so showmanship as in what? So like with that one, I was like, okay, let's just laugh. Let's just have a good time.

We're going to power through this. That's not going to work in the scholarly field. Showmanship cannot be exclamation points. Showmanship cannot be just like an abundance of dashes like em dashes straight out. Showmanship cannot, cannot be, I have definitely proven this.

It is locked in 100% gang. In dissertation, you have to say what you need to say and then allow for some qualifications. That's very important. Best of our evidence. This is what we can say under the circumstances, something like that. So that other scholars can come and say, how about this evidence? Or how about that? You cannot say case closed.

I am the expert authority. This is the book. Cut, print, check the tape.

That cannot do that. I got you. Well, I'm going to make an effort. I'm going to make a promise to you and to the Clearview Today audience.

From now on, I'm going to proofread all slam poems that we read during the intro. One thing I do not need to proofread is today's verse of the day. Dr. Shah, this is second Corinthians five, seven, one of my personal favorite verses of all times, for we walk by faith and not by sight.

So good. You see people walking by faith, both in Christian circles and in the world. People will put their faith in things, put their trust in things that they just kind of accept and hope that they're real. But when we say walk by faith, it's much more than just hoping that God is real. What does that mean, Dr. Shah, walking by faith? Hope is not wishful thinking when we look at it from the scripture's perspective. Hope is not, I'm hoping some change is on the way, but I'm not quite sure. When we talk about hope, like Romans 15, 13, which was the passage for our national day of prayer.

That's right. Now may the God of all hope fill you with joy and peace and believing that you may abound in hope by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. There it is the God of all hope means hope is grounded in the character, in the nature of God, that whatever God says he will fulfill. So the promises of God are backed by his own character and his nature. And later when it says by the Holy Spirit, by the Holy Spirit, which means the guarantor of that promise is the Holy Spirit, means the hope is not just a little tiny, little bit of hope for you and little tiny bit of hope for you. And there's not enough hope to go around.

No, the Holy Spirit is the God of all hope, the guarantor of hope, which means it is abundant for everyone. And this hope is not just some principle or some idea. This hope is a person. That person is Jesus Christ. Amen.

That's the turning point right there. That's right. It's not a force or it's not an idea. It's a person. Right. It's a blessed hope. We're waiting for the blessed hope and the glorious return of our Lord Jesus Christ. So Jesus is the blessed hope. That's right. That's right.

Dr. Sha, back by popular demand. We're going to keep the word of God rolling. It's proverb or noverb. I really want some proverb or noverb merch. T-shirts, proverb or noverb. I want something.

I would be totally down to do that. Can we put fake word of God on clothes? No, no, just the title. Just the title is proverb or noverb. Okay. So, so we're going to do proverb or noverb. This is a game that I want to say that we came up with. I don't, I don't remember ever seeing this anywhere.

I'm going to disqualify Ryan, at least for the first couple, because he just was on our, on our radio planning app. He scrolled up, saw proverb or noverb, and I saw him scroll right back down. I didn't read the, any of the, any of the entries.

I'm going to read them. There's 20 proverbs. Five of them are fake.

That's how the game works. When you think you hear the fake one, just go ahead and call it out. Just say, nah, that's a noverb. I'm just going to go straight down the list. Ready? Here we go. When the lamp is proud, it forgets that the oil feeds it.

Oh, I can go and do this. When the lamp is proud? Yeah. When the lamp is proud, it forgets. I'm sorry. It forgets the oil that feeds it, but yes, that's a noverb. As a dog returned.

I'm sorry for our radio listeners. As a dog returns to his own vomit. So a fool repeats his folly. Proverb.

Yes, sir. That is Proverbs 26, 11. If a wise man contends with a foolish man, whether the fool rages or laughs, there is no peace. Even the proverb.

Yep. That's a proverb. Proverbs 29, nine. Even the Fox is wise until it boasts before the trap. Oh no.

Y'all are getting better. Yeah. That's another verb.

I'm not sure. Maybe there were Foxes there because Jesus did call Herod. Right. Tell that Fox. So there were Foxes there, but I don't remember reading about them in the Old Testament. You're right.

It's a noverb. Let a man meet a bear robbed of her cubs rather than a fool in his folly. Proverb. Yes, sir. Proverbs 17, 12.

Yep. As vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, so is the lazy man to those who send him. Proverb. Proverb. Proverb 10, 26. Seldom set foot in your neighbor's house, lest he become weary of you and hate you.

That's a noverb. That's a proverb. Proverb 25, 17. Yes, sir. That's a proverb. Okay. That's the one that tells us don't wear out your welcome.

Fish and houseguests stink after three days. That's not one I'm just saying. Yeah. I was going to say that's not a proverb. That's a colloquial proverb. That's right. That's right.

But it's a good point. Yes, sir. The donkey, sorry, the donkey who sings at sunrise will be silent by supper. Oh my goodness.

That sounds like he doesn't even need to get through. Luxury is not fitting for a fool, much less for a servant to rule over princes. Proverb. Yes, sir. Proverbs 19, 10.

The lazy man says there is a lion outside. I shall be slain in the streets. Proverb. Proverb. Proverb 22, 13. He who blesses.

I'm sorry, I'm taking away from Ryan. I'm not as confident on the, like the definite proverbs because there are a couple of, I was like, but there are some novels. I was like, one thing about this game is like, it will not take a actual proverb and change it. Like it won't be like lean on the Lord for your own comprehension. It won't do it.

It'll just create a new one. I don't want to trick anybody. He who blesses his friend with a loud voice rising early in the morning, it will be counted a curse to him. Ryan, you want to try for that one?

Say that again. He who blesses his friend with a loud voice rising early in the morning, it will be counted a curse to him. I think it's a proverb. It is a proverb.

27, 14. I'm not sure what the point of that is. Like don't, to all the parents out there, don't shout in your teenager's face in the morning.

Don't do too much in the morning. He who curses the wind, I'm not getting away with this one. He who curses the wind will reap a whirlwind of silence. That's another. I want to say proverb.

It's a novel. Okay. A whirlwind of silence. He who curses the wind will reap a whirlwind of silence.

All right. A couple more. Where no oxen are, the trough is clean, but much increase comes by the strength of an ox. A proverb. That's Proverbs 14, 14, 4. One more. The slow hand gathers dust, but the patient hand gathers gold.

That's a novel. Good job guys. Y'all, y'all really, y'all really did it.

That's a good game. I've done a lot of research for my personal devotional time, especially with regards to hard work, relationships, those kinds of things. So a lot of those were like, yeah, I know that one. And it's funny because I asked when you, so I put those into chat GPT and I'm like, give me 15 Proverbs and five fake ones. And it always wants to give you like most well known, like trust in the Lord. So it's like, no, no, no.

Give me the, give me the most obscure ones. But man, even then it's hard to get them by y'all. Y'all are really good.

Some of them, some of them sound like it could go either way. I need to read Proverbs. Dr. Shaw, you mentioned something earlier, Romans chapter 15, verse 13. That was the theme for our national day of prayer, which by the time you're hearing this was next week, but for us recording last week, it was last week. Sorry. But for us, it was yesterday.

That's right. And something kind of crazy happened at the very last minute where we were planning a live stream here at Clearview church. And you walked in on Tuesday morning and said, Hey guys, I know we're planning the live stream, but I'm not going to be here for national day of prayer.

Immediately alarm bells are going off. I'm like, what's going on? Is everything cool?

But you were somewhere very special. Yes. So Monday night, this national day of prayer was on Thursday, but Monday night I received an email inviting me to the white house for the national day of prayer with a select group of people. And you know how you think, yeah, that's a spam, right? Right.

Somebody's couldn't be right. And so I'm like, Hmm, I don't know about that. So I contacted the person I knew who was in the position to put me on the list, right? But I didn't, I don't call people and say, Hey, can you do me a favor? Can you get me on the list?

Or can you get me in here? I don't do those things because when God wants to put you in those situations, he will, that's right. If God wants to do that for his glory so that the gospel of Christ can grow and spread and touch lives and change hearts. Of course I am a hundred percent for it. I'll be glad to write to someone and ask them and plead with them, put me on the list. But most of the time, God doesn't work like that.

We can do that right here where we are. But this person who is in that position, he responded back and said, Yes, I put your name in there. Are you going to be able to make it? And he put my name in maybe 30 minutes before I got the email. And so it's a matter of like 45 minutes I have to answer. Wow. And I said, absolutely. And then I'm like, I told Nicole, I have so many things going on right this week. So many things. I'm part of the community. I'm in a leadership group.

Of course, National Day of Prayer right here at Clearview Church. And then we have a big production happening. I mean, it's a big production. Our play. Broadway style of West of Pecos is also happening this weekend. I said, there's no way I can be in all these places.

And she said, you need to go. I want to be there. It's a great honor to be there. President Trump is there. Our nation's leaders are there. Pastors are there. I want to be there.

But it's the craziest week. And this isn't sort of like, come if you can. It's open to anyone.

This is a select group that is invite only. And it's the president of the United States. I'm completely with you. It's like, oh man, this week of all weeks at the same time, this is the White House. And I've been personally invited.

That's a huge, huge thing. I almost couldn't believe like, I mean, I believed you, but like when you said it on Tuesday morning at the men's prayer, I was like, seriously, they invited you to the White House. That's awesome. And we're in men's prayer. So I'm trying to keep my voice down. I'm trying to be real quiet.

Let's be respectful of the groups that are praying. But I'm like jumping up and down. It was like, so I know we were playing on the live stream here at Clearview, but I got invited to the White House.

Like what? Seriously? Men are like turning around to see they're like bringing their prayer. So it's a great honor, a great privilege to do that. And so I told our team on Tuesday morning, so guys, this is what's happening. And I said, yes.

And it was awesome to see every one of y'all's reactions. Absolutely. You should be there. We can handle this. And you go.

Absolutely. I mean, I think I speak for all of us when I say we are so proud of you. So proud to have you as our pastor, as our leader, as our mentor and friend that you're involved on a level where you're getting invited to the White House. I mean, that that is incredible. I'm proud of you for that reason as well. But I'm also proud of you for never shying away, especially in the earlier years where you're like, hey, guys, one day we're going to touch the world.

Yeah. Most people, I think even most Christians would, would balk at that and just be like, ah, okay, yeah, whatever. God's going to touch the world, not us, which is true.

It's completely true. But to have the courage to say, we are going to do this one day, you know what I'm saying? Because a lot of people are ashamed of having ambition.

They want to, they want to downplay it so that everyone without ambition feels included, or they feel like ambition is a bad thing. But to say one day this church is going to touch America, it's going to touch the world. And now we're starting to see that happen. That's what fills me with pride and a good humble pride.

Absolutely. And there's one more thing that has happened over the past, I would say eight to 10 years, where if you are Bible believing, if you are conservative, if you stand for biblical values, if you unashamedly say that I'm proud to be an American, that you are shamed. And that has been going on for the past 10 some years, that you are shamed for something that just a few years ago, people would have been like, no, that's normal. That's what Americans are. We are not like proud, arrogant people.

Now, of course, some people are, but that's their problem. But most of us are grateful to be living in this nation. We love this nation. We're proud of this nation. We believe that it's a great nation. We don't believe that it's a faultless nation. We have our sins that we need to turn towards God. We need to repent from our evil ways.

Of course, all of those things taken. This is still, I believe, the best nation on earth. But over the past, like I said, 10 years or so, you are shamed. You are blackballed. You are shunned if you even remotely say any of these things that I've said.

And it's sad because 99% of all the feedback that you got for going to the White House and posting about it on Facebook was positive. It was overwhelming. This is our pastor. So glad for our pastor. So glad for someone who stands on the word of God.

Very grateful for Clearview Church. And yet the 1% somehow always rears its head and someone has to come and be negative and put their political opinions in. So I go back to when I was in college. One of my professors, I don't know for sure, it's been a while, what the class was on, but I do remember him making this one comment.

I believe he was a history professor. He said, don't let your enemies define you. Don't let your enemies define you because your enemies would love to place a label on you.

This is who you are. Right. You're living over there where the cold winds are, where the cold wind blows. Like, I think where you live is pretty cold and that's not cold. Yeah.

Let's not talk about how cold it is where you are and how coldhearted you are towards the depravity. We get it. You're trying to position yourself for positions and book contracts and find some upgrade to your otherwise mediocre life. We get it. We get what you're trying to do.

So to accuse us of these things so that somebody somewhere will see it and so give you a little pat on the back or pull you up by your collars and position you. Okay. We get it.

Yeah. You can try to shame us, but it's not going to work. We're not foolish. We're not foolish. So I respond to things like that. Like when we talk about proverbs, you know, one proverb says, answer the fool according to his folly. So I do answer, but then just a little while later in the same breath, it says, do not answer a fool according to his folly.

Wow. So answer a fool, but then do not answer a fool. So yes, you can answer maybe once, but then don't answer again if that person is a fool. And fool does not mean you are ignorant. Fool in the context of scripture means somebody who is arrogant.

Right. Not an unintelligent person, an arrogant person. The fool has said in his heart, there is no God. So the fool is a person who thinks he knows better than God.

Fool is a person who thinks they know better than what God's word has said. So you answer them once, but if they persist in their arrogance, don't answer them again. That's wise. That's wise. And that's something that I'm still having to learn because I've got that tendency where I want to say something back.

I want to clap back. I want to prove that I'm, but it is, it's just pride. It's fool's pride on my part. It's me wanting to prove I'm smarter than you.

I'm more word savvy than you. Blah, blah, blah. And you're right. It doesn't need to be said. You've answered once and it doesn't need to be harped on again because at the end of the day, things are looking up over here.

Things are going great in America and you get to be part of it. I think that's the natural tendency is to want to defend yourself and say, well, what you said about me, that's not true because this and what you said here, that's not true because this, but that's so wise. Answer the fool once, but then then don't engage anymore. And it's not like we get up in arms anytime someone criticizes the president.

If we did that, we'd be making three or four or five, six, seven, eight, nine shows a day. Right. But the fact that things are going well and things are looking up in America, you never want to see that negativity come after you.

Right. But I guess it's inevitable. How often is that a sign that things are going well, that things are sort of moving back on track when the naysayers start popping up? Well, the naysayers have always been there and it's very easy to criticize.

There is no cost to criticizing. What are you losing? Nothing. What are you gaining? Maybe a couple more followers, some attaboys, some people who will come and maybe give you a little accolade just for being a criticizer. But is your criticisms truly substantial?

Is it based on facts? How much vested interest do you have? Of course, I can criticize any government somewhere.

Of course I can. What is my motivation? Am I going to do anything to help that nation? Zero. If anything, you're getting something out of America. You're right.

A hundred percent. Well, you know what they say, when a cold wind blows, it chills you. It chills you to the bone. But nothing in nature can freeze your heart.

Like years, and I do mean years, of being alone. That's right. Is that a song? Oh yeah, that's Muffet's Christmas Carol. That's Muffet's Christmas Carol.

But seriously, I don't even want to talk about that anymore. I want to just say, I'm extremely proud of you and I'm proud of what God is doing here at this church. And it's not, I don't need to clarify this, but it's not a proud, like an arrogant proud. It's really confirmation that what you have said God is going to do and what God has said he's going to do, he's doing. That's right.

And to be able to see it, like we talked about walking by faith and not by sight, there does come a moment where everything that you've seen by faith, you start to see happening. Absolutely. That's right. Well, I am grateful, of course, to Nicole, my wife, our family, but I'm also grateful to our work family because you guys have, when I shared with you that, Hey, I need to go. And I was a little unsure how y'all response were going to be. Uh, immediately the response was you need to go.

Yes. And it was, it was so good to hear that. And then I was able to live in a sense from the white house lawn. This is before the ceremony started. I had a few minutes and I was like, I don't know if they'll tell us to put our phones away, or it was like, oh, sorry, excuse me.

You can't do that. It's like, yeah, go for it. Whatever you want to do. And I'm like, this is so good. This is good to finally enjoy America again, to be proud of being on the white house lawn.

And I get it. If it's a very sensitive area, security is, is at stake. Of course, if there's a sign, there was places like we had to walk through for security to get to the Rose garden, all that, like the entrance of the white house, you have to go through a security check and it's like several layers of security check.

But because I'm approved to go in, it's, it's not like check me thoroughly and ask me 20 questions. I'm already approved. So it was just, yes, sir.

Can I see your license? Here it is. Okay, great. Thank you. Welcome. And then you go through the place where they'll check you.

You have walked through a screening room and that was literally 20 seconds. If that, thank you, sir. Hope you have a great day. And I walk around, come up to the gates, walk through the gates.

There are people standing there. Welcome. Good to have you. I'm like, this is so good. This is so good to finally feel like America again.

I was just thinking about that as you were talking, that's how America ought to feel. Absolutely. And that's the feeling we've been missing.

And it's, it's nice to hear that that's coming back. What needs to be secured, let's secure it. Right.

What doesn't need to be secured and constantly being, being, being told you can't do that here or, or you're not allowed. And you know, this is the very people who, who talk about freedom. They're actually are the anti-freedom people.

That's right. The Democrat party is more about the anti-freedom. How can we take away the rights and privileges of normal everyday Americans? So at the National Day of Prayer, maybe we can talk about it more in another episode. The one thing that I really appreciated was President Trump announcing the Religious Liberty Commission.

Yes. He established the Religious Liberty Commission and this commission is tasked with producing a comprehensive report on the foundations of religious liberty in America. And I'm getting this from the White House website. Strategies to increase awareness of and celebrate America's peaceful religious pluralism, current threats to religious liberty and strategies to preserve and enhance protections for future generations.

And there's so much more that is there. But President Trump has had a proven track record of protecting America's First Amendment right. Amen. For all Americans, all religions. I mean, he, he has been there.

So it's, I find it very funny when people accuse him of things and I'm thinking you, you like, you can be given solid evidence. Here's a coffee mug and you can look right at me and say, there is no coffee mug here. That's not a coffee mug. That is a coffee mug. That's not a coffee mug.

No, the reason you think that is because of your upbringing or your brainwashing, but no, there's no coffee mug there. He has stood up for religious freedom, protected conscience rights, ensured equal access for funding for religious institutions, defended faith communities against government overreach, which we have seen over the past 15 some years, like never before. The government getting more and more involved in faith communities, telling them what they can and cannot do. Or if there's any help that is coming immediately, it'll come with a list of provisos.

Or if you do that, then you cannot do this. You cannot share the gospel. So what do faith communities do? It's like, well, we don't need any of your help. So lot of good is happening. And I'm very excited about that. The chairman of this committee is the lieutenant governor of Texas, Dan Patrick.

Okay, very nice. Excellent. And so he previously spent over 40 years in the media as a television anchor, conservative talk show host, successful radio station owner. And he's been behind some of this taking down of this CRT stuff and the DEI stuff. And once again, the importance of having in God, we trust in our universities and Texas Senate, under God, keeping that phrase there, and many, many other things. And of course, Ben Carson is the vice chair. Also on this committee are people like Franklin Graham. So I'm very, very excited about that and many other wonderful people. So this is going to be great. Once again, faith is not relegated to the church house.

It's getting to the White House. Thank God for that. Thank God for that. Let's maybe take some time tomorrow and we can dive deeper into that. Absolutely. Guys, make sure you join us tomorrow. Same time, same station. We're going to be diving into another great topic here on the Clearview Today Show. Thanks again to our sponsors for making today's episode possible.
