The thief comes to kill and destroy. I have come that you may have life and have it more abundantly. Bodies in Christ. It is time for Kingdom Health Transformation with Mike James. Good afternoon.
Good afternoon in the light land. This is Mike James with Bodies in Christ, a Kingdom Health Transformation. And I'm glad you all are joining us today. One of the things I do want to do today, we're going to have a conversation. We're going to talk about mindset as we have been talking about this healthy church challenge and just getting ready, just being in the right mindset, because it does take a certain type of mindset to really bring about change.
But before I get into that, I do want to just again admonish all of us. I know we all have, but to continue to pray for our neighbors in the West, western part of North Carolina, also everywhere that the hurricane has touched and all the people that have been affected. And even people that have been affected that maybe weren't directly in the path of the storm with loved ones. And I know the other day they talked about some line workers that lost their lives as well. So just, you know, if you will continue to keep everyone involved and everyone that's been affected by this in your prayers and just pray that, you know, God's will be done and that somehow God will get the glory.
And we know he will, you know, out of all of this. So I'm going to get back into, you know, part of what we've been talking about for a while now. The healthy church challenge, and I've gotten several people reaching out, calling, texting, and that's a good thing because now we have about four churches that we're talking to. We want to have about 10 churches that we're working with in this challenge to make it fun and a healthy competition amongst, you know, the church bodies out there. So again, if you hear this and you're interested in being a part of the healthy church challenge, just text me at 336-638-1007.
Again, that's 336-638-1007. And that's for the healthy church challenge. And so we've been talking about different components of the challenge and different things that we're doing in that.
And so I want to get back to that because the first thing we look at and the first thing we address is mindset. And even if you're listening out there today and you have no, you know, no desire, don't have time or whatever the situation is as far as to be a part of the healthy church challenge or any of those things. Even if you decided to start on a health journey, you just want to be healthier. You want to address maybe some concerns you have. You may feel like you, you know, you need to lose a few pounds for health's sake. Your doctor may have suggested that this will help as far as your blood pressure or other areas of health concerns. Cholesterol may, you may have been advised to, you know, lose a couple of pounds that may affect your blood sugar levels or anything like that.
Because, you know, sometimes additional weight can affect a number of different areas in our lives and they may tell us to lose a couple of pounds. But how do we do that? How do we take those steps? Why is it so hard to lose weight, keep it off, to be in the best health that we can possibly be in? Why does that seem to be so hard?
And you may say, well, Mike, you know, is it really so hard? Well, this is the thing. There's a multi-billion dollar industry built around us getting weight off.
Right? We know some of them. Jenny Craig, you know, just Weight Watchers, you name it.
It's out there. And there's different types of, you know, weight loss programs. And now one of the things that's really big and you see the commercials on television are the weight loss drugs.
And I don't have anything per se against that. But, you know, one of the things about that is, you know, what's kind of coming around now, they're seeing there's some, you know, some different side effects and different things that may happen after using those drugs for long term. Now, for a short term to kind of jumpstart and get people moving in the right direction may not be a bad idea. But the root of it is we have to feed the body what it wants and what it needs to keep us in optimal health. So how do we do that? How do we get to that point? That's where mindset comes in. And when I say mindset, it's deciding, it's really making a decision. And I'm not saying it's easy at all, because I know it's not, because if it was easy, there wouldn't be a multibillion dollar industry built around it. Because it's not necessarily easy, but there are steps to take, especially for us believers to be able to access the grace of God to walk this thing out.
Right. Now, how do we do that? How do we access the grace of God so that his grace truly is sufficient? And again, some people take that scriptures when it says his grace is sufficient to mean. That we'll just go through whatever it is, you know, we go through and his grace is going to be enough for us.
But then also, I want you to look at the other side of that, his grace is sufficient in my estimation means that if we access the grace of God through faith. If our true desire is what ever that thing is, as long as it's in line with his will. Then God will give us the grace to do that thing. He will give us the grace to be victorious in that thing. So now we know the scripture that says if we delight ourselves in the Lord, then he will give us the desires of our heart. I want you all to think about that for just a minute, because we're going to get into mindset and how to change our minds to where our heart, our heart desire lines up with God's desire for us. And that's when I truly believe you will see God move in any area of your life or our life is when our desire lines up with his desire. And the word will back it up because the word says, when we delight ourselves in him, he will give us the desire of our heart. Now, there's two sides to that coin.
It's like there's two sides to every coin, right? There's two sides to that coin, because one is we can have a desire in our hearts, right, that we want God to move on. And in this case, I'm going to say is to be healthy. I'm going to say is to lose that weight.
I'm going to say is to not be on that medication, right? Because that can be a desire of yours. That's the desire of mine.
That has been my desire for most of my adult life is to be medication free. And, you know, I'm thankful and blessed and thank God for his grace that that has been my experience. So how do we, how do we, if that's the desire of our heart, how does it play out that God gives us the desire, right? So now we can have a desire that's in our heart. And as I said, if it lines up with God's desire for us. Then, yes, he'll give us the desire of our heart.
The other side to that coin is the first part of that scripture, right? That if we delight ourselves in him. Then he will give us the desire of our heart.
Now think of it from that vantage point. When we delight ourselves in the Lord, then he plants that desire. He plants the desire in our heart. He gives us that desire.
Right. So there's two sides of that coin, but this is the thing about what I'm saying here in reference to mindset and how it works. I believe in the area of health and wellness. I think God has already given us kind of a blueprint and also scripture reference to know that it's his desire for us to be healthy. It's his desire for us to experience kingdom health.
Third John 2, right? Beloved, I wish above all things that you prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers. Now, that's a worthy cause, that's a worthy desire to have because it's expressed in scripture that he wish above all things that we prosper and be in health, even as our soul prospers. So as we grow in the Lord, as we grow in grace, God wants our soul to prosper for us to mature in our soul and our emotions and our will.
He wants us to prosper in our soul, but also he wants our health to prosper as well. So now this is what I believe as far as mindset and desire, because those can go hand in hand as we talk about health and walking in kingdom health and experiencing God's grace in the area of health. If our mind is in line with that desire and we truly decide, and that's the thing we have to decide, right?
We have to decide that's what we really want. And I'm not saying it's an easy decision, because with that decision, there's going to have to be a change of behavior. And sometimes, and most of the times, behavior change is not easy because there's a lot that goes into behavior far more than just what we feel like doing or what we say we want to do.
Behavior is a whole different thing, right? Because a lot of times we can say a lot of things, you know? The word says faith without works is dead, you know, because we can say we have faith.
And that's what the word said. But if I don't see any deeds, if I don't see any action that lines up with what we say we believe, then it's dead because there's no works with it. So when we talk about behavior change, it all starts with mindset and a decision. Where we have to be clearly and completely convinced that is something that we really want. And once we make up our mind that that's something that we really want, then we start to line up our desire with his desire for us.
You know, because in the word it talks about God, you know, it's his pleasure to give to give us good things, right? For us to experience all of the best that God has for us is his desire. But now the question is, is that our desire?
Is that what we really want? So now this is what I'm going to do for everybody listening out there. If health has been one of the things that you have prayed about, that you have said this year, you're going to get your health together. You're going to make a change. You're going to you don't have to wait until the new year, right?
Because that's when everybody says they're going to do this. But you can make a decision today that you know what? I can do something about where I am right now.
Health wise, me and God, we can do something about this. But the thing is, you have to make the decision. You have to decide so that you're in line with God's desire for you. And I truly believe this, that if you're in line with God's desire for you, then you will have the grace to see this thing through and never look back. So we're going to get a little bit more into the mindset, the desire, how to match those things and see God work on our behalf and walk victorious in this thing.

If you're just joining us or if you're just tuning in, this is Bodies in Christ, a Kingdom Health transformation. And this is Mike James, and today we're talking about mindset, desire and how to line those things up to access the grace of God to assist us in this journey as it relates to health, healing and walking in the best health ever. So I was talking about the Healthy Church Challenge and some of the steps that we're going to take and some of the things we're going to look at as far as helping the body move forward in the area of health. So again, if you're out there and you're listening and you want to know more about the Healthy Church Challenge, just text us at 336-638-1007.
Again, that's 336-638-1007. And yeah, we'll get information back to you and hopefully, you know, get you and your congregation involved in and then enjoy the journey of experiencing Kingdom Health. So we're back into what we're talking about before the break, mindset and desire and how to make sure those two match up so that we're experiencing the best that God has for us, but also accessing the grace of God, which I believe is the most powerful force on earth. If we access the grace of God, all things are possible, right? The word says I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. So I believe in that strengthening and doing all things. I believe that strictly comes from accessing the grace of God when we've gone beyond our own power and our own strength to access that supernatural.
But as I mentioned, the first step in that is we have to make a decision. It has to be a desire of our heart. And I'm going to use this example because every believer out there can relate to this example. And I think we can apply this to almost any area of our lives.
But specifically right now, we're talking about health, right? And how to align ourselves with God's will for us as it relates to health and then how to walk it out, how to experience this Kingdom Health and never look back. Because that's the thing, never look back because we have to see ourselves as being changed. So now when we first gave our life to Christ, you know, all of us out there, you're listening if you're a believer. Now, if you're listening and you're not a believer, then you always you can always at any point in time, you don't have to wait to Sunday. To give your life to Christ, you can do that right now as you're listening to me, because the process is real simple. You just have to have a sincere desire for God to change you. You have to have a sincere desire in your heart for something to change.
You have to know something is missing. You know, you're not getting it right on your own. You may say, well, you know, I want to come to Christ when I got things figured out, when I'm in a little, when I'm not going to the club on Saturdays. You know, if you wait until you have it worked out, it won't happen because you need the grace of God to be saved. That's the whole point of it. You need God's grace to be saved.
That's why no man can boast because this is a gift, right, of grace. So now I'm using this same example as it relates to mindset, desire and how to change as it relates to health. I believe that you have to have a desire in your heart for something better as it relates to your health. If you don't have a desire for things to be better, for something to be better, you will never change because you don't see anything.
I mean, you're not, you're OK with the way things are. But if you know in your heart things can be better. Then I'm going to encourage you to listen to what I'm saying right now, because I believe that the same principle applies that you can access the grace of God to walk in the best health you've ever walked in in your life. So now, you know, we give our life to Christ. We, you know, we there's some things we do. There's some things we have to believe.
Right. And then we have to confess with our mouth and believe in our heart. You know, that God raised Jesus from the dead, that he died for our sins. If we confess with our mouth and believe in our heart. Then we're saved. Right.
But see. We have to believe in our heart and we have to have a desire for change. So we make that confession because we have a desire for change. And then not only do we have to have this desire to change. Then we have to make a decision.
Right. We're not changing ourselves, but we make a decision to allow God's grace. To work in our lives and to changes. That's when we invite Jesus into our heart, which he brings the Holy Spirit with him.
And all of the grace of God with him. So that we can start this journey, right, because it's a journey. And then we learn of him and we learn and we study and we and we walk it out to where, you know, we walk this thing out that we call Christianity, we walk this way out of walking with Jesus.
So now. And yeah, the journey may not be easy. But no matter what the obstacles are or what comes up. One of the things we know beyond a shadow of a doubt is that we're saved.
Right. So now when we make this decision to walk out. This health, you know, a walk in kingdom health. It's really making that decision that, you know what, from this point on. I'm going to see myself as God wants me to be, and that's healthy. Now, so what happens once you see yourself is that once you have a desire and you confess that, hey, this is what I really want. This is how I see myself. I'm lining myself up with the desire that God has for me.
Then God grace, I believe his grace comes and help you helps you to walk this thing out. Right. Because now you see yourself differently. Just like becoming a believer, you see yourself differently, you're no longer a sinner.
Right. You're saved by grace. So now you see yourself as being healthy by God's grace.
And then what happens? Your conversation changes. You know, in the word, there's two, you know, two meanings of conversation. Yes, you can be talking, but then your conversation is how you're living. So now as it relates to health, your conversation changes. You live differently from a health perspective because you don't see yourself as being unhealthy.
You see yourself as becoming what God has has called you to be. And that's healthy. Right.
Where you can walk this thing out. So now your choices change. You make different decisions around food. Right. You're no longer reaching for every processed food that they put out there for you to grab.
And they do. It's a money grab for the food industry. I mean, really. You know, cookies, potato chips, sodas. You know, you can get sodas for almost free.
Right. Because they have no nutritional value. So then your choices change.
You're eating totally different. And then you don't have the stress of wondering what is this stuff I'm eating doing to me or I should be eating something else. That's stressful within itself. And speaking of stress, and we're about to get we're about to get out the air.
