Bodies in Christ. It is time for Kingdom Health Transformation with Mike James. Good afternoon. Good afternoon out in the light land. I hope you're having a great afternoon.

This is Mike James with Bodies in Christ, a Kingdom Health Transformation. And today we're in the studio and we're going to have a conversation. Today there's been a lot of talk about, just in general, as it relates to health, about metabolism and how after you reach age 50, your metabolism slows down.

Now, that may be true to a certain extent, but I want to get into a little bit today. I'm going to talk about healing your metabolism because that's one of the main things that we can do to really restore health and to build a healthy body. Like I said, we hear a lot about that. And a lot of people, after they reach the age of 50, feel like they've tried a number of different things as it relates to health and weight loss. And a lot of times they may get results, but then the table turns, they lose weight, gain weight, put weight back on, put more weight on than they lost. And a lot of that is not that your metabolism has slowed down per se, but more of it is a function of your metabolism is sick. Right?

So now if you have a sick metabolism, how do you go about healing it? So we're going to talk about that a little bit today. Again, I'm just having a conversation with you all out there because, you know, hopefully, you know, this information will help somebody. As a matter of fact, I want to say thank you to some of the people that have been giving us feedback. We've gotten several texts from listeners out there on different subjects, different things that we've talked about. That's definitely encouraging. So don't feel like your text doesn't matter. You know, if you want to reach out, send us a text, have a question or just want to say, hey, this has been a blessing to me. It definitely goes a long way. So I'll put that number out there.

But now back to the subject of metabolism, because you hear a lot about that and metabolism is important, but it's not just about weight loss, even though a healthy metabolism is a function that helps you to lose weight. And really what metabolism does, it puts your food, it breaks down your food and breaks down what you eat, what's in what you eat to fuel your body and to give you sustenance.

Right. But if your metabolism is not working right, then it can be harmful for you because, one, the foods that you're eating and what's in those foods are not being broken down. It's not being translated from the food source that it is to energy. So if it's not transformed to energy, then the body will store a lot of what comes out of that food as fat.

And as fat that's not healthy for you, because that fat will end up around your organs and in other areas that cause other problems, which we've heard of metabolic syndrome, which leads to high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, and a number of different other things that's associated with metabolic syndrome. So a lot of that, again, goes back to healing your metabolism. So in order to do that, first, it goes back to mindset. See, when you understand that from a physical standpoint, what food does in our body, what it does for us or what it does to us, it's doing one of the two things at all times.

I want you to keep that in mind. Everything we eat is either doing something for us or something to us. So now we get to choose. We're on the side where we can choose exactly how we want to play that game. And it really stacks up to about as simple as that, like choosing more of the things that's going to be for us, things that's going to work for us or something that's going to do something to us or against us.

Those choices every day. So yes, if you eat more of what's going to do something for you as opposed to something to you, if you play that game, you eat more of that than the other, then yes, you should come out ahead and more than likely you will. But if it's the opposite way, then it's almost impossible for things to be different. You know, the Word says, and again, we're going to always give you biblical context as it relates to health, because that's what bodies in Christ is all about. So, you know, the Word says that God will not be mocked, right? It says, for what soever a man soweth, that shall he also what?

I heard your answer, reap. So, yeah. So that's I mean, that's a that's a principle. That's a biblical principle. The Word also said, as long as the earth remain, there will be seed time and harvest. And that's still true today. And it applies to almost every area of our lives, even though that analogy is given. You know, there's a lot of there's a lot of agrarian analogies in the Bible. So that seed time and harvest is perfect because you can't plant corn and expect to harvest grapes.

Right? It doesn't work that way. You can't plant soybeans and expect collards to come up. That's not how it works. So the same principle applies to what we're eating and what we're getting out of what we eat. And that goes back to, again, the metabolism, because the metabolism is set up to break down and turn food into energy.

But this is the thing that we've done, and this is the hard part at this point. Is that when we're eating things and a lot of it comes from the processed foods that we're eating, and you'll hear me talk about this ad nauseum because this is a big part of the problem. And this is one of the reasons why our metabolism is sick.

It's because of some of the things that's put in the processed foods, whether it's excess sodium. Of course, excess sugar and then other chemicals and dyes and things like that, that's hard for the body to break down. And then when the body's not breaking it down, basically your metabolism is in control of that, breaking it down.

And when it cannot break it down and use it as fuel, it's stored in your body as something else. And one of the biggest problems when it comes to that is the sugar that's left in your bloodstream. See, because once you become insulin resistant, that throws your whole metabolism off. But there's a way to fix it. There's a way to heal your metabolism.

And that's what we call a reset. And there's certain things you've got to do to reset your metabolism, to give it a chance. One, you have to go an extended period of time without overloading the system with sugar. So your body has to not be in a position where it's consistently and constantly trying to break down sugar. Because over time, as I just mentioned, once you become insulin resistant and you're no longer breaking down, the glucose in the sugar is no longer being broken down as fast as you're getting it. Then it stays in the bloodstream. Then it's converted to fat.

Then you're resting. When you look at your fasting A1Cs, they're out of whack. Because your body doesn't know what to do with all of this sugar. So to reset, you have to pull away from it.

Right? Give your body time to readjust to where it's not breaking down hardly any sugar for a while. This will help you reset. This will get your metabolism back on track. So you may have to go through a fasting period, a fast from sugar. It may be a fasting period from, you know, all foods, 24, 36, 72 hours, just a water fast, giving you some things that I know that works to help to reset your metabolism. And then eating some foods that are going to nourish your cells.

And again, not have excess sugar in them. Now, you all hear me talk about a lot on the show. Genesis 1 29. Right. Because, you know, God knows everything.

He knew even from the beginning what it was that would help man to function at at his highest level. So this is what I want you to eat. This is your food. This is your meat.

Genesis 1 29. You get an opportunity. Look it up. Right. If you haven't looked it up, look it up.

It's right there in plain sight. And if we're eating mostly those foods, even on this reset that I'm talking about, resetting your metabolism, especially if you're, as I mentioned, if you're 50 years old or older, even if you're younger, this still works for you. But I know a lot of times people that are 50 and older, sometimes they feel like it's harder for them to to to lose weight. It's harder for them to get healthy.

You know, seem like everything they tried doesn't work. But I can almost guarantee it's a function of your metabolism being sick. But as I mentioned, there's good news.

Because if something is sick, it can be healed. Right. So then it's a matter of.

Genesis 1 29. Eating in a way that's going to feed your cells, feed your body without flooding your system with excess sugar. Then the other component is fasting. See, in the word Jesus told the disciples, he was talking about casting out demons, but it can apply to a number of different things.

He said this only goes. By fasting and prayer. So even as it relates to healing our metabolism, it's amazing how this stuff correlates, but now it's not really because God knows everything and his principles are I mean, they go across all areas of life. So he said this one only comes by fasting and prayer. So now to heal your metabolism. You're going to have to have a period of fasting. Especially from sugar. Because you have to give your body an opportunity to heal itself. Because that's what it would do if you get rid of the sugar.

Right. Eat those foods that's going to feed your cells, nourish your cells, build your body up. Without adding, without putting any additional sugar in your system. You know, really abstaining from eating for a while so you don't have that process where your body's not even going through the process of digestion, giving your body a break from digestion. Now you'll see your metabolism start to heal itself once that reset is done. And see, and once the reset is done, now you start introducing Genesis 1 29 as a way to eat for a while. OK, you eat that way for a while. Now fat burning starts to happen where now you don't have all that sugar that's being converted to fat. That's excess in the system.

I'm Mike James. And we're talking today about healing your metabolism because that's a subject that have come up over the past few years or months. And it's something you hear people talk about their metabolism not being what it used to as they get older, especially when you're 50 and older. How do I lose weight? How do I get myself in the place where the doctor says I need to lose 10 pounds, 15 pounds?

How do I do that? I think my metabolism is out of whack because I have trouble losing weight. Now, if anybody's ever said that or thought that if that's been your situation or you've lost weight and then gained it back and find yourself, maybe, you know, having more weight than you started off with before you started trying to lose weight. And you say, hey, my metabolism is is not what it used to be. And yeah, that's true in a sense that is not what it used to be. But also, as I was mentioning before we went to break, nine out of 10 times, your metabolism is sick and you need to heal your metabolism.

Now. That's news. But the good news is you can heal your metabolism. You know, there are steps you can take and things you can do to start that journey to healing your metabolism to where now weight control is not even an issue. Because you decide where you are on the scale. What do I mean by that? Well, think of it like this. If you think about the furnace in your home, right? You have the unit outside. It pretty much it generates the heat. It generates the cool in the summer, the heat in the winter.

Right. But inside your home, you have something on the wall. Two things on the wall. One of the things on the wall is a thermostat. Where you set the temperature that you want the house to be.

And then the other thing on the wall that may be contained in the same unit, but just two different numbers. Is the temperature of the home. Which is a thermometer.

Right. It gauges what the temperature is in the room. And then you have a thermostat that sets the temperature in the room. Well, see, this is the difference in the two as it relates to your metabolism.

Once you have reset your metabolism and once you understand the principles behind really nurturing a healthy metabolism. Now you get to set the temperature, if you will. Now you're in control to where, you know, if your ideal weight is 200 pounds, 200 to 205 pounds, you get to set that thermostat. And now once you've been used to doing this and using the principles that will heal your metabolism. And then you understand what to do to keep you at whatever's most comfortable or whatever's most healthy for you. It's just like that thermostat on the wall. You set it and pretty much forget it.

Now you wish. I mean, yeah, it's being simplistic, but that's what you do once you understand the principles and you make the principles of Kingdom Living a lifestyle. Then it really is as simple as that, because you understand what makes your body burn at the optimum level, how to get your metabolism revved up to where it's burning like you want it to burn it like it should burn. To where, no, you're not leaving excess fat in your system.

You're not leaving extra sugar that's being converted to fat. You know, none of those things are happening because now you're in control of the thermostat. Right now, this is the thing, too. I'm going to share this with you. When you get an opportunity. If you're listening, driving, this is simple, so you might be able to remember it.

So now I talked about, again, gave you some ideas, gave you some pointers. If you get that guide, it's going to walk you through, you know, it says five keys to your best health ever. Five keys to kingdom health. But those are also the five keys to a healthy metabolism. It's all related.

It's all connected. So as I mentioned, when you have that thermostat, and you set it once you understand these principles and how to control it, you set the thermostat and then you live your life. And then your body regulates just like it does with your furnace in your home. If you set it at 72, yeah, it may go above, maybe above 72 some days when it's like 105 outside, it may go up to 74, then it'll cool it down to 72, right? It may cool it down to 70, but it's going to have a, you know, an average temperature in your home is going to be 72. I know this sounds, it sounds simplistic, but it really, that's the analogy that I thought of.

And that's what it's like. It's like that furnace in your home. You have the thermostat, you set the thermostat. Once you get your metabolism healthy, you can set the thermostat. And then the temperature is going to be whatever you decide the temperature is as opposed to if the furnace is broken. Think about this.

This is good. If the furnace is broken and you set the temperature on 72, but the furnace or the AC is broken. And it's 95 outside. It doesn't matter what you have the thermostat on. If the furnace or the AC unit is broken, the temperature in the house is going to be 85 or 90 degrees.

It doesn't matter what you set it on. Same thing when your metabolism is sick, until you heal that metabolism, you have no control of the temperature. That's weight, that's metabolic health, all of those things. So again, the most important thing is healing that metabolism.
