And the fact that we're into finally the NBA championship series with the Stanley Cup final right on its heels soon to come makes me have a little extra spring in my step. It feels like we waited quite a while. It's a long week. I'm not going to complain about having the extra evenings to clean and to be ready for a special birthday in the family and a huge surprise. If you missed it described it oh gosh at the end of our second hour and I appreciate all of your tweets and your Facebook messages. Thank you. Bob said to tell you thank you for all the birthday wishes.

So there was a lot going on but now that the surprise has been safely and securely delivered even though it was minus a suitcase surprise without the suitcase still it was worth it. And I was able to get back to basketball yesterday evening but as I tweeted I ran into a situation that I just not ever had to deal with before. I've had 20 plus years of working in network radio. Let me see when I start almost 20 years of working in network radio and before that in local radio and because I've lived on my own for most of my adult life I never had to worry about sharing the remote. When it's time to work I turn on the game and I watch the game or games it doesn't matter because I've got a DVR and I have got various ways and streaming services and I've got my setups but usually when there's two games it's not that big of a deal because I can watch one when it gets to a commercial or a break or halftime I rewind on the other one and I catch up and then I go back to the other one it's it's a great system.

Well now that there are other beings in the house I ran into something last night that I've not ever had to deal with. The big surprise by the way is that I flew my husband's mom in he had no idea flew her in for his birthday the two of them they're thick as thieves I'm glad they have the same sense of humor I don't actually think it's that funny just kidding most of the time they just they speak the same language they're they're like two peas in a pod so happy that they get to spend time together and on Thursday evening they wanted to watch the women's college world series. Okay great I do too but I also need to watch the NBA finals but see when people don't generally live this lifestyle they don't quite get the whole DVR rewind nah they want to watch it live so I finally gave up trying to say sorry I need to go back and watch this and okay I need to go back and watch this I I just let them have the TV what what so the two of them are all into it Texas, Oklahoma and the Longhorns have taken the lead at one point I think it was the fourth inning on an error by OU and then Oklahoma comes back with a basis clearing double and takes the lead there's also a pick-off throw late that wipes out a Texas threat could have come back and tied the game anyway if you watched it it it was a great well it was a lot of fun it was entertaining it was a good game between Texas and Oklahoma and the history is there for the Sooners with the fourth straight women's college world series title awesome yes I wanted to watch it too but I also had to be watching the NBA finals but I gave up because it's I just let them have it I was outnumbered it was it was two to one so I watched the first half of the game and then thought you know what we're gonna have Sean Grandy on the show I'll just listen to Sean and his partners longtime partner former Celtic champ Cedric Maxwell on the Celtics radio network and that turned out to be great I was listening as the Mavericks cut the lead down to eight and the highlights as you know they pop up on social within seconds so you'll listen to a sequence and then you look on social and boom they're right there so it's not necessarily live but it's close enough and I did appreciate listening to Granny and Max always I do Sean's a great friend of mine but yeah this was something I had not encountered before I was a little taken aback I have to share the remote I have to share the TV when I have work to do so some of you said hey tell him that this is work for you and you have to do a radio show but he knows that he want to watch the game it's like the one time though you know for NBA finals no I that's fun that the final it still happened at the NBA finals it was on the same night as the softball college world series all right but what happens when Longhorn football is on the same night is something else I need to watch that's a different story right so this wasn't even Longhorn football which I would lose that every time yeah yeah I have to to keep the peace in the home there must be Longhorn football when the hubs wants to watch Longhorn football and that's fine I generally I'm the one watching 95% of the sports in our home and he does not complain so it felt like I would just let them be happy and I would come up with a better solution which I did that was big of you but I'm just saying it was strange I've never had to deal with this before it's different right usually just grab your mode like you're saying put it on whatever you want to watch and yeah the DVR thing I mean you know I use that to go back kind of well you have to in this business yes so yeah we've entered a new era in my life I have to share the remote or even if I don't give up actual possession because you know possession is nine-tenths of the law if I don't give up possession of the remote I still have to act like or be happy about changing channels for them you don't have to no I do I do it's important I have to because otherwise like I say I don't get grace coming back when NFL Sundays for instance oh I'm sorry you want to watch TV well there's football there's football I don't know maybe you need some sort of like college basketball shot club I mean possession kind of thing where it's like oh you had this turn now it's mine now it's 30 seconds now I get 30 seconds that's funny we could put a timer on it I might suggest that but see in this particular case a it was his birthday so I shouldn't be wrong with that yeah exactly I shouldn't be winning anything on his birthday and b his mom is there so I needed to to be generous and gracious with the TV that way though I mean he's got his mom to talk to right I mean you can watch the game no they both they didn't want to talk they wanted to watch the game his mother was cheering for the Longhorns how can I say oh sorry mom I know you're really into it but I'm gonna go watch the game and we'll get back to it strictly business it's work it's not fair to do it's not our family's choices and they're new what if they decide we might need an annulment this sports thing is too serious I mean you said like he said he knew he was getting into it true he did I'm not sure she did but but I yeah I made it work Sean's great Max is great and I listened to some of the Dallas broadcast as well it's it was a well-rounded evening it worked it worked it's just it's an adjustment TV's yours next time it's what I'm saying people are telling me to go buy another TV okay well on your dime another actually we have multiple other TVs we just don't have DVR and the cable package I'm not paying for cable package on two TVs heck no but the reason before is I could always say there's only one of me I can't watch cable in two places at once yeah right oh huh good thing he gets YouTube TV in the fall so he can watch all his college football couldn't watch the softball game on YouTube TV nah he cancels it except for football season well there it is I don't know if you have any more logins you'd like to share wink wink nod nod I don't have a YouTube one maybe I can get one something anything the Longhorn network I'll see what I can do no don't this is a me problem but not on his birthday I played nice I managed it's after hours with Amy Lawrence let's hope it doesn't come to blows no it's not gonna come to blows I've never thrown the remote except for once it was a long time ago it was a long time ago over sports no it's just some jackass ex-boyfriend who is making me mad and that was what I had in my hand at the time so yeah I missed his head I missed his head I was much younger then it was like Kyrie I've matured so much since then yeah I've not had a remote throwing incident since then don't at me uh but if you want to find us on social at Amy after hours plus our Facebook page Dan Hurley the Lakers a good fit what do you think it could be like a celebrity marriage but getting back to the opener of the NBA finals that I did watch and listen to it was 13 12 mavericks oh goodness to nine eight to nine minutes to go in that first quarter and then oh hello Kristaps Porzingis welcome back to the court pump fake Porzingis steps to the top of the circle and hits again 40 days and 40 nights he's been away from the Celtics he's been back on the floor for 10 minutes he's got 15 points the Celtics have a 21-point lead and Jason Kidd needs another timeout Derek White and maybe because it's Luca we've seen so many crazy passes that look like one but obviously we can't see anything from where we sit Porzingis catch deep three got it are you serious with this return for Porzingis seven of nine two of three from distance 18 points in 11 minutes and the Celtics lead by 28 it was all of that it was a jolt of energy it was electricity in the building and it went back to when he walked onto the court for pregame warm-ups now he did not start that was a bit of a late change asked Sean Grandy about it when he joined us a couple hours ago here on the infinity sports network yeah it was a 44 to 14 spurt by the Celtics and they went from being down a point to being up 30 it was pretty dramatic hit hit a bunch of shots and honestly what we saw from the Mavericks was Luca Doncic with a spurt in the third quarter and not a whole lot of help elsewhere a couple of guys in double figures but Kyrie did not shoot well oh yes he was asked whether or not that was because of the Boston fans you'll hear his answer but it is the NBA everybody makes a run right that's the old cliche and Luca he can shoot from anywhere 72 56 Luca in and out to his right pull up over white for three he hits and he continues to be that's his third three he's got three of the Mavericks four threes in this game he's got 24 points and seven rebounds on 10 of 19 shooting Mavericks are able to trim the lead down to eight points under five to go in the third quarter and yes of course social reacts now it's a game I think my tweet was script flipped because I'm thinking about the Celtics this has been a part of their past what's the phrase that we've heard coming out of Boston or I guess with other analysts it's a little bit of a joke now but the Celtics play with their food meaning they have got a dish that's the best food that you could possibly imagine it's a delicious meal and instead of just eating the food and consuming the food and taking care of their business and feeding themselves instead they play with the food and they don't put away their opponents when they should and so that was kind of what we were seeing oh it's a game again la la la la la but if we've learned anything about these Celtics we've learned that they can and will go on these big explosive runs and we've also learned that when they're pushed a little bit like they were by the Pacers for instance in three of the four games in the eastern conference finals they kick into that high gear when they have the sense of urgency well they can overwhelm opponents and that's exactly what happened immediately after the Mavericks trimmed the lead to eight. Jaylen moving to his right steps past Luca, kick out wing holiday touches it to Tatum open three got it Jaylen strong down the right side over the shoulder pass corner three out got it shot clock is going down too 11 straight for the Celtics and the lead is back to 19 and appreciate the size of Luca till you see him against the guard and the guard here is Derek White and slaps the ball away from Luca Derek White off to the races goes to the left hand and scores nice move this time all you did was lost that basketball on the back side scoop up clean up aisle two catch-up ball exploded clean up on aisle two and a timeout for Jason Kidd the Celtics hit 16 threes didn't shoot particularly well from beyond the arc actually they were 16 of 42 so well below 40 percent but they hit 16 the Mavericks only had seven and there's some kind of ugly stat lines for instance Peyton Pritchard off the bench he goes over five from beyond the arc I know everybody in the starting lineup for the Celtics hit a three but man there were some ugly ones we do get the ugly ones from Al Horford now and then but Derek White didn't shoot particularly well from downtown though he was in double figures but then when you realize they had 16 and the Mavericks only had seven right there is essentially your margin of victory so when the Celtics start to hit the threes it's hard to keep up with them and yes they do cruise to a victory in game number one so this time the Mavericks don't win the opener on the road though there's another game in Boston coming up on Sunday I can't keep up with the NBA finals just wait me when it's time for game two make sure I grab the remote before anything else happens or someone else grabs it right or someone else grabs the remote but it it was really the impact of KP and his return that made a huge difference 20 points six rebounds three really impressive block shots and what he does he alters the offensive approach in the paint for his opponents obviously what helped me is just even from the walkout before the game and then getting on the court getting that kind of support was you know it's unreal and the adrenaline was pumping through my my veins and and that definitely helped it wasn't ideal that I was out for such a long time but I did everything I could to prepare mentally for this moment coming back and and it paid off you know and we got the job done tonight and had a good game and and happy about the result Kristaps had a monster game for us just his presence shooting the ball and then being able to attack those switches and mismatches he he made him pay every time and that's what we need going forward in the series Kristaps was big but those other guys Derek White, Drew Holliday, JT they all can get going at any point in time so that's the beauty of our team we just gotta you know every game has its own story we just got to stay ready stay composed and and taking one game at a time.

13 not 13 oh I said 13 he says cut number 13 on my sheet that's Jaylen Brown he's not number 13. 22 points for Jaylen Brown and here I'm talking about the depth that they have on the roster and honestly that was such a huge disparity in the opener of this game and Jason Kidd points to that defense for the Boston Celtics and what they can do when they're guarding across the board one through six really the top six. Give the Celtics credit they did a great job tonight defending making it tough on us we had some good looks that didn't go down we got to move the ball the ball just stuck too much and we'll be better in game two. I think that they really rely on their great defensive ball pressure their one-on-one defenders and they funnel us into certain areas I mean you know even as I say that they're relying on the one-on-one every time I got an iso there's you know almost two three people waiting for me to get in there so I got to catch the ball on a live dribble and just be aware of my opportunities it's uncharacteristic for us to have only nine assists the ball's got to move a little bit more and again that starts with me just being able to push the pace get us some easy opportunities and just adjust to what they're throwing at us. Kyrie Irving goes 0 for 5 from downtown only hits six shots so not quite locked in but yeah as he mentions he's he's earning a lot of the attention of the defense and when you look at the Mavs roster they have to have contributions from guys like P.J. Washington who did have double figures last night Derek Lively needs to be active but it's a tough matchup with Kristaps Porzingis if he's close to 100% which he certainly looked like he was they've got to have contributions from other guys off the bench too and yet really didn't get much of that plus there wasn't a Kyrie who was able to score at will the way that sometimes he does now Drew Holliday he was asked about limiting Luca Dodgett so the most damage that Luca did was in that third quarter as they were making the run but they were able to contain it fairly well so we've seen one game what is the strategy the the game plan on defense against Luca throwing different guys at him uh different guys that play defense differently some aggressive some not but i think uh even our white guys guard wait what i think uh even our white guys guard i think even our white guys guard all right now see if i said it it'd be a big brouhaha but Drew Holliday that's how he makes the distinction i'm i'm whatever i'm sure that it's uh it's one of those things where you can say it about your own peeps right so like families can say things about families but somebody else outside the family can't say anything about the family even our white guys guys i love that i love that anyway drew Holliday talked about the strategy though and this is what we had this is what we had expected we talked about this earlier in the week is they've got different bodies they can throw at him so you're going to make him work that's the idea make him work hard and if it's different looks and and you've got fresh legs well then it's wearing him out toward the end of the game and also then maybe he doesn't expend as much energy defensively himself well we know Kyrie is not a great defender maybe a play here and there but not a great defender and so that means you've got a couple guys on the floor then that aren't focusing on defense themselves for Dallas and and Celtic's gonna hurt you a variety of ways so you can see where the disparity is there in terms of the depth Kyrie Irving was asked about the Boston crowd you'll hear that also Jason Tatum surprisingly candid and open about his emotions before the the NBA finals tipped off in Boston last night plus a couple of minutes with Sean Grandy 23rd year with the Celtics he's been around for a lot of this even as they chase a banner they haven't won since 2008 believe it or not it's kind of crazy to think about but the Mavericks have had a more recent NBA title than have the Celtics despite all of the star power and their opportunities on twix at a law radio good to connect with so many of you happy Friday also on our Facebook page it's after hours with Amy Lawrence you are listening to the after hours podcast doors apply when the celtics were able to turn their offense up to a level that even the best defense of the nba over the last two months could not handle for 10 days it's been kyrie irving and luka dotchitz luka dotchitz and kyrie irving but there's two ends to the floor and the celtics exploited all of the minutes that both dallas superstars were on the floor this is after hours with amy lawrence part of sean grandy's final calls the celtics roar by the mavericks in game one of the nba finals and a little more with sean coming up here momentarily kyrie irving of course heard it from the crowd actually i asked sean about that too about how he would describe the reception well kyrie described it in a way that thought it was kind of tepid apparently did it affect him it's basketball at the end of the day um you know being in this environment um you know i'm used to it at this point um you know early in my career there was a different uh relationship that i had with boston just being able to come here be settled with a veteran group now i'm here as the veteran um over the past few years just experiencing the playoffs here even regular season it's been the same thing i thought it was going to be a little louder in here but i'm expecting the same things going into game two crowd trying to get me out of my element my teammates out of my element but again the energy's got to be focused towards the game i felt like i had a lot of great looks they hit back rim or um you know they were just a little left or right so i just got to stay confident and stay poised throughout this man this this is the best time of the year to be playing it's only two teams left let's put it in perspective you know so um the environment's gonna be what it is but my focus is on our game plan and making sure my guys feel confident and i feel confident um and continue to shoot great shots honestly i thought it would be a little louder in here i'm sure that was not a shot j that was just kyrie being honest right i thought it was going to be a little louder in here wasn't stoking the fire at all that was a shot that was he's very calculated it's after hours with amy lawrence now i will say uh jason tatum didn't share that same perspective because before the game and i forgot who he was talking to they're going through pregame warm-ups he's mic'd up and he's talking about how it's going to be lit in here he said that multiple times to to his teammate it's going to be lit in here and he's describing the atmosphere and it certainly was as they made that run hit the early threes and of course kristaps for zingis an extra jolt of energy but this has got to be my favorite post-game cut of all tatum was talking about just getting back into this and getting back to this point and he was surprisingly candid about his emotions for game one be honest i was nervous i ain't gonna lie i was i was nervous uh in like a anxious way right as like a little kid uh it was just a surreal being in the finals um and you know when you're young i guess in your career you think you're always going to go back and last year was kind of like a wake-up call um when we didn't make it so uh you know getting back to this point and being here it's really a big deal and uh you know we played well tonight a lot of things we feel like we could do better but uh it definitely does feel good to win the first game but we know that two years ago we won the first game and you know the outcome of that series so we still have a lot of work to do jason tatum jaylen brown al horford derek white kristaps for zingis drew holiday they go pretty deep the mavericks can catch on fire they're two superstars but can they counter the depth of the celtics that's one of the big questions of the series and early on i like how jason points out they did lose the opener to golden state two years ago it's after hours with amy lawrence couple quick minutes from my conversation with the long time play-by-play voice of the celtics sean grandy i did want to know from him his perception of kyrie and his favorite boston fans predictable and yet i have a dream i have a crazy pipe dream that obviously is not going to happen because it's not the way the world works but i was kind of hoping that this finals ends up being the point in life where you make friends with your ex and you've got to make friends and you've put everything in the past kyrie is in a much better place which is really cool to see and i think for celtic fans how can you keep beating up a guy that you've now beaten 11 straight times that's number one number two at some point after a bad breakup you realize you're in a much better place in your life i think there's just less concern as there should be kyrie if you're coming up with larry o'brien trophy it was a bad time it was a difficult two years it was a bad breakup and i i always thought the kyrie years here i not so much defended him but i thought there was a lot of misunderstanding and plenty of blame to go around for the two years he was here the only time i've really been critical of him was his attitude towards boston when he was in brooklyn yes and the stepping on the floor and the playing of the race car he would just things to try to get the crowd off balance and then he you know reacted badly back to the crowd this is a different dude now and this is a guy it's it's he's so complicated as you tell kyrie is not a short radio interview he's a podcast it's very complicated there's layers to it and the guy that you see now almost every night in dallas we saw a lot of that during two years in boston but you also saw the other kyrie and it's funny i think he says a lot of the same things now that he said then but he has the life and basketball cachet in that locker room to say it now whereas then he didn't as a young team the young guys didn't really react that well to him and i always thought his two years in boston just reminded me the old saying about a leader without followers it's just a guy out taking a walk and that's really what i i thought those times were kyrie was you know too young and other things going on in his life and it's a perfect example of how we project so much onto these guys at 23 24 25 years old which is remarkable the young men that jason tatum and jaylen brown are that you you know it's the opposite i i think kyrie and behavioral stuff and under this massive ridiculous spotlight surprised we don't see more you know because it's really really difficult to grow up and you know with the world watching if you look back to two years ago where have you seen the most growth with the athletes that are on the roster now and the team as a whole well you talk about now it's an expression you fall back on i hate it at some level but it really applies to this team about adults in the room and that includes two really young players jaylen brown jason tatum and i think there was an element of everything they did from 2017 18 even maybe getting to that finals was ahead of schedule they probably shouldn't have been there it didn't play well under that spotlight if you look historically at teams that meet in the finals when one has had experience and the other hasn't this applies to the super bowl i don't know if it applies as much to the world series but there is something different about this stage there were a lot of guys on the mavericks playing in their first nba final i thought jason did a good job getting the young guys out there early to get their feet wet and get a feel for what the nba finals is like no it's a different environment but the cliche about valuing every possession the celtics didn't against golden state and they the warriors with all that experience just kept taking advantage of all the mistakes and all the giving away of possessions when you know that every single one counts and i thought you saw tonight joe mazzullo called a time almost a like a violent race on the court timeout when the celtics were up by 25 or 22 in the second quarter because he knew the value of every possession he saw that little bit of slippage and there just can't be any mistakes the reason this team won 64 games again people say well they don't have a top five player because it's whatever you want to say about tatum there's no jokic there's no jonas and there's no luka but they've been unbelievably consistent in valuing every game and valuing possessions and turnovers crazy low and playing hard every night not being affected by a loss or by a 50-point win and that methodical step by step by step nature hasn't been as sexy as the last couple of years when they faced elimination eight times last two years i mean they played they obviously lost two elimination games because they lost they faced elimination 10 times they went eight and two it's incredible but this year isn't what everyone fantasized about because you think about tatum coming back from three two having that game in milwaukee and winning game seven at miami there's been no drama the only crime this team is committed is the biggest one you can in 2024 they've been boring you know because they have been beating people they've been beating people up and here they are 13 and two tonight was the eighth consecutive playoff win for the celtics the boston celtics have never done that before wow and they've had some decent players and some decent teams you think over the year and they've never won eight consecutive playoff games until tonight first time for everything yeah the celtics have been i like how sean puts it boring but dominant anything other than a title is failure but think about what they've gone through to get to this point and you can understand how they've matured and the process of jaylen brown and jason tatum growing up and growing together and the different changes of course they had to well they didn't have to but they did sacrifice marcus smart so that they could get kristaps borzingis and he's been a major difference maker what brad stevens was looking for true holiday coming in with the championship leadership and mentality obviously al horford it's a team that is culminating peaking after these years of disappointment though the mavericks aren't done obviously i did ask sean how are they vulnerable so that was part of the conversation too how can the celtics be had so to speak so you can grab that on our podcast we post the link to our weekday podcast every single morning within 15 minutes of the show being wins that battle lundell in front and they score it was sent back for for tarasenko and the panthers take a two nothing lead with 10 52 to go here in the third period this is after hours with amy lawrence since neither of the conference finals went to a game seven both over in six games the stanley cup finals been waiting we've been waiting on it it's delayed in its start actually beginning after the nba finals which i found fascinating a little bit different than what we're used to but yes you've got the edmonton oilers back in the stanley cup final have not captured lord stanley's cup since 1990 but the panthers while they're a younger franchise they've got no stanley cups in their history so i think it's great the final four between hoops and hockey the most recent of the teams to win is 2011 the mavericks which is not what you'd expect this is going to be amazing the calls there on both the oilers and the panthers radio networks we know all about the panthers style their identity the back of the team sticks to the game plan because it works matthew kuchuk is one of their stars and yeah he says they're all all in we have buy-in from everybody um contributions from everybody we're a deep team we're a very committed team um and very relaxed team um you know last year we were kind of just riding that high and rode it all the way to the finals whereas you know it's it's just a very even keeled chill approach yeah so remember last year they were the eight seed the team that had taken out the boston bruins very few expectations and then they end up in the final against the vegas golden knights well now uh they've been essentially the team to beat in the east and they've had this unfinished business as the mantra and the banner essentially going back to when they were reconvening in the summer i mean they've talked about it that's all they talk about as for the edmonton oilers i think they represent the hopes of most of a nation it's been a long time since we've had a canadian team win a stanley cup 1993 right it's the last time with montreal but now we finally get connor mcdavid best player in the world on the stage along with leon dry sidle and yeah they can beat you a variety of ways in our whole organization i would say you know um you know we have probably you know 15 16 boards that can play on any given night and and your seven or eight d men you know it's um you know we have the ability to uh to change the look of our team just by making a couple of changes uh within the lineup can't wait to see connor mcdavid on the stage he's already got 31 points in these playoffs believe it or not kachuk with 19 just connor always raises the bar higher it's after hours yes mike mcdaniel thank you thank you for interjecting mike mcdaniel wants you to know that he has a pulse and he will be at the stanley cup final and that's how he dropped the mic and left the building or left the press room yeah edmonton at florida starting on a saturday night and it's uh eight o'clock florida time all right so also in the wnba uh we'll have the fever get back to business right they've had a few days off and that's good uh because a little bit of the uh of the rest that was required for them to just kind of recover uh somewhat from a crazy schedule to start and yeah we'll have uh obviously have more kaitlyn clark conversation uh she's still all the rage and people debating even people like gino ariemma and adam silver debating whether or not she's being treated fairly or whether or not it's been too physical uh the fever by the way tonight will be in washington to play the mystics who have no wins so fever two and nine mystics are oh and ten and that one is is it on oh it's on national tv or not oh it's an eye on tv it is on national tv it's another one of those kind of networks that carries like syndicated shows dramas something like that not as much goofy stuff like what's that the joke practical jokers yeah no it's more uh dramas like syndicated shows that are replayed anyway that's tonight adam silver he was asked at his state of the state on thursday about the physical play with kaitlyn it's not nothing new in basketball that there's sort of welcome to the league moments especially for heralded rookies but of course i want to see kaitlyn treated um fairly and appropriately in the league i would say seems like she can take care of herself she's she's a tough player um i think it may be lost on some people who are new to basketball in terms of a little bit of the controversy in the wmba what an incredible talent she is you know two final fours leading scorer history of college basketball so i i look forward to watching her ongoing development in the league i think ultimately this is very healthy for women's basketball in the wmba i agree i love the addresses those people that are new to basketball what instantly popped into my brain like the swifties who are new to football and have no idea what's going on yeah this is going to make kaitlyn better i feel like that's the point that people are missing the harder you push her you should know by now she accomplishes what she sets out to accomplish the harder you push her the harder she's going to work this is going to make her better uh so the wnba is going to have one hell of a player as she adjusts and gets it gets stronger and withstand the rigors of uh the pro game it's after hours with amy lawrence now gino ariemma he was also asked about kaitlyn clark about whether or not she's being treated unfairly i want to skip that but it was part of a conversation that he had with dan patrick's show i just think it's interesting that everyone's talking about it but something just as fascinating and maybe more pertinent for ucon fans is that dan hurley the men's coach with the two consecutive national championships is meeting with the lagers today how about this gino ariemma uh he may have been on to something in his most recent conversation with dan you know this is really funny because uh i happen to be with at a thing with him last night just leaned over and i said uh hey i think you can win a lot of championships with the lakers more so than a guy who's never coached and um he just looked at me and you know nodded and we had a good laugh and then this morning i wake up and voila so i don't know what's going on and it'd be a bad day for ucon for sure if this happens and it would be a great great day for dan hurley and i'm sure a bittersweet day for dan hurley oh my gosh if you're gino ariemma and you wake up on thursday and realize that oh yeah this is actually a thing this meeting is happening between dan and the lakers and the lakers are preparing this massive deal and all he did was look at you and laugh at your suggestion morning i wake up and voila that'd be like me joking with j about taking a job at a different network and then the next day that he sees the news that i'm bolting on social media voila yeah this is going to be fascinating keep your ears and eyes out this weekend because it could happen i thought he was done looking at other jobs i thought that he was staying at ucon probably alex cariban did too but this is the lakers just i'm sorry just stop for a second and think about dan hurley coaching lebron now lebron's been highly complementary of hurley on social during the ucon runs and you know that dan won't be intimidated by strong personalities you've seen him coach also if the lakers would draft brawny because that's maybe a package deal if they would draft him in the second round certainly dan is known for his player development and also his innovative offense so maybe this is exactly what the james family wants not three not four they're meeting today look for a news dump look for a news dump the lakers don't want to be denied talk to you sunday night it's after hours with amy lawrence boom this episode is brought to you by progressive insurance whether
