Wowsers. I keep saying that because I have a hard time believing that it's already June and that here we are on the cusp of the NBA finals and the Stanley Cup final and the playoffs have only been going on the last two months. Happens every time. I think that's the deal is I get so wrapped up in NBA and NHL and every night there's at least one game or often there's 17 games or that's how it feels and then you get a break finally in between conference finals and the championship rounds and wait a minute, it's June. It's June. But truth be told, it's not just about the sports.
The last couple nights there have been no big time postseason games to watch so the the break has been nice. Try not to be jealous of me. I've spent the majority of the time doing yard work and housework. So the house is relatively clean.
The yard looks great. This is all because my new hubs is celebrating a birthday and I feel like since it's my first birthday with him as a wife, I have to go big or go home, baby. Well, I mean I am home but I have to go all out. This might be the birthday he remembers. Jay, what if it's first impression as a wife and his birthday is a flop? Ugh, I can't set that precedent.
No, I agree with you. It's a big deal. It's got to be a big deal, right? And it's also just before our six-month anniversary so there's some of that. Yeah, I know. I'm pulling out all the stops but I can't tell you because he's likely to listen to the show and he just knows there's a surprise. He doesn't know what's happening.
Jay. You've been doing so well. Right, I shouldn't have brought that up with you because you are terrible at keeping surprises.
That's true. You have. You've kept the lips zipped whenever it's come up on the air.
Honestly, I've almost slipped a few times myself and made reference to it. Well, it's exciting. It is exciting.
I'm really proud of myself if I pull it off so that's the thing. You guys are gonna have to wait until Friday morning or until Thursday night Friday morning because I will not be here tonight. This is, it's an orchestrated effort here. I've got many moving parts.
No, no, I mean there's many moving parts. So on this Wednesday, I'm just gonna sleep for a couple hours. Who even knows if I'll be able to sleep because there's a coconut cream pie to be made.
There's a little shopping to be done. There's some surprises that I have to prep for. So yeah, like I said, I can't really tell you anything but I promise the next time we get together you will know whether it was a huge success or an epic fail. I don't, I can't see it being a fail.
Do you think that he'll be surprised? I think so. Okay. I do. If it were you, would you think this was a great gift?
It'd be all, it'd be tops. Okay, cool. Well, so just in case it doesn't come off quite like I've planned, I'd be very careful. I've also cleaned the house. I said this is what I'd like for my birthday so I'm gonna clean the house for your birthday.
We just had a, yeah, we've had a month of just traveling here, there, and everywhere and so for that reason the house needed a good cleaning. So a house, I, yeah, I've got a couple of little things to give him but the surprise is more an experience, if you will. He's trying so hard not to even look like he might give it away. Give it away?
No, there'll be no giving away here. That's true. So close. For either of us, that's right. It's so close.
We're now not even 20, 24 hours from his birthday so it's very close. I won't have to keep this secret any longer. It's been a while. It's, it has been a while that I started planning it.
Yeah, so all that to say I'm a little bit of a nervous wreck so if I'm talking too fast or I, you can hear my leg bouncing in the studio, that's why. It's After Hours with Amy Lawrence. Thank you for joining us for The Hump Show. If we did not answer your question as part of Ask Amy Anything, which we just wrapped up when I was yelling at you about, get out of my seat, uh-huh, it makes sense, then I do go back very often on Wednesday. In fact, almost every week I go back and answer as many questions as I can. It's so validating, thank you, that you still have questions every week that we've never seen before or that we've seen a bazillion times because you didn't know the question had been asked before. So yeah, we have lots of people who actually will follow us on our social media site simply to ask questions.
So that's awesome. Thank you for caring. You don't need to ask me about the big birthday surprise and the experience because I promise that I will share it with you when we're back together. Now, of course, NBA Finals will take precedent. Could you imagine if I sat down on Thursday night and in the wake of NBA Finals game one, I just started talking about the birthday surprise? I mean, it should be fair to open with it, but ask me.
Jay would think that was a good idea. No, no, no. I'll be true to what our main goal here is, talking sports most of the time, but also talking about how Chipotle is making its bowls smaller and its burritos smaller and how Sonic is charging you way too much money, five bucks for a little bitty kid's burger.
First, I can tell you the portions have not gotten smaller. It's a new TikTok thing. Jay and I find great amusement in some of these trends that we see, whether it's through TikTok or Facebook and Twix. We kind of look for different trends that we might bring up to you. Why? Because we're not cool and this kind of makes us a little cooler or we can fake that we're cool. I feel like I had an idea about this one.
I saw, I got like an, that's the word I'm looking for, like a feeling that there was like an instinct, an instinct. Something was off in the universe and the Chipotle world. I just heard some rumblings about Chipotle lately.
I haven't seen this like specifically on TikTok or anything. He's addressing the issues here. So yeah, I think people are pretty mad at Chipotle right now. Interesting.
We'll have to follow this up. Anybody who is doing, executing a ban, so doing what they can to let Chipotle know how you feel about their smaller portion sizes. As you were saying, it's not just, this is extended far beyond just Chipotle. It is.
I'm not joking. What I tell you after years of not eating anything at Sonic, the hubs and I went on Friday night for just like a campy date night. We thought it'd be fun to do a little drive through.
A medium fry cost us $4 and it had maybe, maybe 12 fries in it. It was, I was pretty stunned. Unforgivable.
Thank you, Jay. It was unforgivable. And at that point we couldn't even get the half price shake because we didn't use the app to order. It's just wrong. It's just wrong.
Wrong. What happened to customer service? The customer's always right. And the customer's always right.
I was just gonna say that. Clearly the customer is not always right. The customer wants a normal sized hamburger.
Can't get that either now. The funny thing is they advertised it as a quarter pound burger. And I'm not joking when I tell you that it was no bigger than what you would get in a kid's Happy Meal at McDonald's. It was such a small burger.
Which have also gotten smaller. Nothing on it except for a pickle and a little bit of mustard. I might as well have gone to Chick-fil-A. That's it.
Next time. Do you see what they're doing recently? No, but they did just open one in my neighborhood. Oh, that's kind of cool. But they're using, they're changing their chicken. Uh oh. To like this lesser chicken apparently starting next year sometime next year. Lesser chicken?
What does that mean? Cheaper chicken? Yeah, essentially.
Kind of upsetting news. Lesser chicken? Lesser? What does that mean though?
Like less quality. Really? Yeah. They're actually told people that they're going to be serving chicken that's that's not as good a quality as what they used to? I don't know if they told anyone but it got out there. Oh, they were exposed. They were exposed. Like TikTok is exposed to potle over smaller portion sizes.
This is a war right now between consumers and fast food. As if we weren't going to notice. That's the thing.
As if we weren't going to notice that we were paying double for less food. The audacity. The audacity. What a good word. Not audacity but audacity. In fact, I think that would have been a better name for our company.
Could you imagine? I work for audacity. I would be proud to say that.
Yeah, seriously. We could use that as our email. Amy.Lawrence at audacity.com. All right. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence. Just I don't, yeah, I don't know.
I can't really defend myself or Jay at this moment but it is the hump show. We're generally a little goofier. We've got the NBA finals on our brain. The wait is nearly over but I can't tell you about Kristaps Porzingis returning until I tell you that he has missed 10 games in five weeks.
Wow. That's what we're talking about here. Now granted the Celtics were off for the last week so that one kept them all idle. Not just Kristaps Porzingis but seriously he's been out five weeks with a calf strain and they've only missed 10 games.
It's a combination. They've only played 10 games. It's a combination of they've been fairly efficient in their dispatching of their opponents in the Eastern Conference playoffs including the sweep over the Pacers but also the fact that this is the nature of the NBA playoffs. They stretch on forever.
Jay can't say anything because it makes him mad so he doesn't want to weigh in here. It's just forever. Forever. As in ever ever. And I feel like even in these later rounds they've tried to even speed it up a little more which just goes back to those first few rounds when they had three days off in between games two and three.
What are we doing? You were right. You were right when you said that I would go away on a two-week honeymoon. I'd come back and they'd barely be into round two. I left when they were going into games five and six of round one and I come back and they're barely into round two. It's about three games.
It was true. It was true but all of that to say Kristaps Porzingis appears to be on track to play in the opener against the Mavericks. That is the plan so right now but yeah again it's a couple more days and and I think that can make a difference so every every day gives me a bit more time to get even better you know so working. He's done a great job working hard getting to this point. Has gone through practices and we still have to see how he responds you know each day to the what he's doing from a physical standpoint so I think he's on pace and he's doing everything he can to get back so we'll see how he feels tomorrow. We'll see how he feels the next day and see how he feels heading into the game. 20.7 rebounds for Kristaps Porzingis in his first year with the Celtics. When he was on the court he made a big difference now about ready to face his former team and his former running mate in Luka Doncic but it's been hard for him. He's been around. We've seen video of him practicing. He won't quite say if he's 100 percent but believes he's getting closer but just the agony of having to watch that's been tough. It sucks.
It really really does suck and um but we're here now and and and I'm feeling much better um I put in a lot of hours to to get to this point and um look forward to yeah to getting some some action on the floor. By the way there is no beef. That's what Luka Doncic wants you to know. That whatever Chandler Parsons has to say about Luka and Kristaps Porzingis and their time together and whatever beef or drama that might have been conjured up it's totally a pile of poo. You see that's why I don't watch a lot of that because people don't know. I thought the general parts of me twice in my life so I don't know how he would do that but me and KP have a good relationship.
I don't know what people say otherwise. Actually I kind of feel like the fact that he at least knew who Chandler Parsons was is a big deal. What if his response had been who? Never heard of him.
I'm sorry I don't know who you're talking about. Are we saying it's Sonic sized beef? Small? Well yeah a quarter pounder is more like a quarter.
It's it's closer to a quarter than it is to a quarter pound. Oh gosh. I don't like to believe that people make stuff up. I really don't.
That seems so wrong and unethical and cheap to me but I am certain it happens. I wish it didn't but I'm certain it did happen or people getting carried away. They heard something from someone and it kind of fits the narrative and oh yeah this seems like it would make sense and this probably did happen and something being taken out of context completely to fit the narrative. Again I don't want to believe that guys would make stuff up especially not a former professional athlete who probably himself was in that situation before where people were writing about him and talking about him and maybe he didn't make it up. Maybe he just got bad information or maybe Luke is lying through his teeth. Either way just our social media world seems to dictate that people care more about being first and going viral than they do about being truthful and being accurate and yeah it's a tough place to navigate for athletes and so good for Luca just squashing it.
I thought the German bars for me twice in my life. Squash that! Let's see what else. Oh the Celtics are allowing only 101 points per game which is a defense that poses problems. Now I know a lot of people have looked at Luca versus whoever the Celtics might throw at them.
I kind of feel like it'll be different guys, different bodies. What you're trying to do is keep fresh bodies and fresh legs running at them and even though benches get shorter during the postseason if you can give them different guys first of all it's going to take you a bit to decide who and obviously different than the regular season to decide who is matching up and has the best defense against Luca when it's one-on-one. If you can get away without double teaming and cheating well of course that's the best option so if you can play him straight up and you've got somebody that you feel like is locked in at this point I mean I kind of am interested to see what the Celtics end up doing and how they run at Luca but you can't lose Kyrie. I mean Kyrie is one of the most creative and certainly one of the most explosive athletes still. I know he's a little bit older now but he may not play much defense or take it as seriously but boy he's all about the offensive creativity. So there's not really a way that you could only focus on Luca and forget about Kyrie and what the Mavericks really need is a couple of guys who will supplement that. So we've seen PJ Washington step up in different spots. We have seen Derek Lively and with a well week off for the Mavs he should be good to go with no issue. So I'm really excited about seeing the matchup just initially on Thursday and how these two teams last two left standing are going to approach some of these matchups but even Joe Mazzulla knows that you're going to have guys who are you know who are able to score even over your best D. Luca and Kyrie they're the two of the best offensive players in the league. Especially in the playoffs like there's no such thing as stopping a team there's leverage and risk management like what are you willing to take away and what are you willing to live with you have to live in those spaces and when you're in those spaces you have to be willing to to fight for that and then you got to be open-minded and ready to go to something different when it's necessary and a lot of that has to do with situational basketball. I'm excited it's like a chess match a chess match with a lot of whistles no let's hope there are fewer whistles I'd be all about letting the guys play. That actually is one element of the postseason that I appreciate is it seems like the officials are more apt to allow them to play and to let a little more contact go it's so physical it's so tough it's so hotly contested and intense so yeah hoping that we get the same once we head into the NBA Finals also it feels like the two weeks in between championship Sunday the Super Bowl can we just tip off the game already please can we just get to the game that's what happens when people have too much time on their hands things like this there's a beef between KP and Luka Doncic although I wouldn't mind a little more of Kyrie talking about his time in Boston that was actually highly entertaining when he talks about the double birds and all I've seen that clip that video on tv and social so many times in the last week he should just do it again he was in a Nets uniform remember when he was in a Nets uniform no I forgot right it kind of feels like ancient history also name one good thing you did with the Nets go oh you're talking to me yeah right you're in you're the Nets fan here one one positive from Kyrie's time in Brooklyn or KD's for that matter I don't know who got who where but one got the other to come so I guess that was exciting at the time uh-huh how long until that excitement wore off because KD didn't play the first year and Kyrie barely played the first year he played and then you got stuck with James Harden yeah I mean I can't say I wasn't on board at the time so really unfortunately yeah KD Kyrie and James Harden because James Harden it didn't work it didn't work James Harden's already unhappy he was unhappy because of Kyrie it's easy to say it's easy to point the finger in somebody else Kyrie was horrible when he was on the Nets he barely played he wouldn't show up to practice he would go AWOL weeks at a time he had the smallest injury he and KD thought that they could take turns being coach as well Steve Nash was really irrelevant poor guy he was on for the ride along for the ride he's like bull riding just hanging on for dear life it was bad huh so you can't think of one good thing except that maybe it caused KD to wear Nets uniform for a while he had like a buzzer beater or two oh man nice layups Chris passes in all of the nine games they played together all right NBA Finals coming up on Thursday night so looking forward to that I know there's a lot of fans in Boston who are excited about it hey Justin Jefferson talking about his new contract and how he wants to use the new contract and the new responsibility to to be a better leader kind of cool also Tyreek Hill earlier you heard him say that he's pretty sure his quarterback is on diet pills can I be perfectly honest with you for a second I'll just be candid for a second actually I'm candid all the time first and only day I've ever used the term Ozempic in a sports minute never done that before we'll probably never do what's that uh stuff with Ozempic first he calls his quarterback fat and then he says he must be using Ozempic he was fat it was chubby with friends like that who needs enemies but then Tyreek's response and reaction to Justin Jefferson's contract oh merc good morning to you it's after hours with amy lawrence you are listening to the after hours podcast cousins back to pass on second down here's a deep shot jefferson got loose he caught it the 15 you can't stop justin jefferson it was another one of those plays he made an unbelievable unbelievable catch and was smacked right after he caught it it's a catch up 35 first down for the vikings and jj has 138 receiving yards the time has finally come the deal i've been waiting for it since i was a little kid getting you to the good half of your week it's the hump show on after hours justin jefferson acknowledging the new contract extension from the vikings with an instagram video but stood up in front of the microphones along with his head coach and general manager as they were announcing this new deal and we know the terms 110 million dollars fully guaranteed which makes him the highest paid non-qb in nfl history 35 million dollars per year is the average annual value but certainly this is a guy who is worth it and if if they are going to break in a rookie quarterback justin jefferson is likely to be his best friend and i like what i hear from justin that this doesn't give him the the right to sit back relax feel like he made it no now he believes he actually carries more responsibility because of the contract this is something i've been waiting for and uh now being the leader of this team and um you know carrying myself a different way uh just like i told him i'm going to be on everyone but i'm going to be on you know everyone hard and i'm going to make sure that uh i'm the leader of this team and uh you know we're working to where we want to go which is a world championship just being the highest paid just comes with being a leader um i mean but i always said i always uh preached it you know the money never was a big thing for me uh it was mostly about just solidifying myself as the top receiver in the league uh of course i want to be holding that gold jacket yeah gold jacket comes not only because of your individual stats but also about longevity and tenure and sometimes having some bling some rings uh can get you a step closer people hate it when i say this but eli manning is going to be a hall of famer and part of the reason is because of the two super bowl rings which by the way that was a big debate sparked by the million dollars worth of game podcast did you guys hear that debate or that argument um it really caught fire on sports radio stations around the country about who would you rather be and so we're not regurgitating it because i feel like it's it's already been beaten uh to death but this is the conversation with cj stroud and the hosts on million dollars worth the game about who would you say had a better career and whose career would you rather have eli's or aaron rogers if you had to pick a career to have i'm gonna have aaron rogers career or i'm gonna have eli manning's career who career you're taking you want the rings dog you know that's all that matter mr rings you know i got to guess what guess what fans don't celebrate mvp trophies we don't give a about that that's for you buddy sit at your crib yeah i feel that we give a about rings damn cj stroud says eli because of the two rings and while i do think that mvps are pretty amazing our friend boomer is size and we get to call him a former nfl mvp pretty sweet uh at the same time he laments not having won the super bowl when he played it and certainly athletes when they retire what they care most about is hey can i get called a champion now eli manning was never an mvp maybe for the giants but not for the nfl but there's no chance that he would trade an mvp for even one of those rings remember the year that clayton kershaw won sai young and mvp but then it was at the cardinals that lit him up in the playoffs and they were out and once again came up short of a world series even getting to the world series now the dodgers have since won in 2020 but at this point uh he would have traded all those individual awards to be able to say i'm a world series champion so i agree um again million dollars worth of game podcast uh eli versus aaron rogers and i'm wondering if we're gonna get aaron to respond to that he does have a ring right he's got one a ron has an a ring a ron has a ring a ring never mind that that was a bit of an epic fail a ron does have an a ring yes he does a ron does have a have a ring a ron has a ring there that's how i should have said it yeah sometimes these final hours of the show it sounds good in my head but the way that it comes out it no i don't think so it's totally fine it's totally fine so yay for justin jefferson i'm excited uh by the way according to kevin o'connell they were never going to trade justin jefferson that was never even an option it wasn't even on the table so don't believe it for a second i would think not although i guess there are some people including friends of ours who cover the bills that would have told you the bills are never going to trade stefan tiggs and that went off the rails pretty quickly uh so yeah things changed but at this point they were not going to trade justin jefferson right now that was a massive contract again highest paid non qb in nfl history it's only a matter of time though until someone eclipses that whether it's a pass rusher whether it's a o-lineman left tackle whether it's another wide receiver tyreek hill he's pretty honest in his reaction and his family's reaction to jj's numbers oh it's a great day in the hill household man everybody waking up happy wife waking up happy my oldest son waking up happy um so it's a great day um but at the same time for me though it's like a lot of pressure for me though because at the same time though like i said i want to be able to help the team as much as i can and obviously we already know being greedy ain't gonna help the team so whatever happens happens wife waking up happy oldest son waking up it's a great day in the hill household not only is he dropping osempic in his conversation with reporters and calling his quarterback fat but now he's just assuming that he's gonna get justin jefferson money and that the whole family's happy i'm sure they will get a nice contract extension at some point however i would think that you wouldn't want to be gloating about your money just yet that's all that's all life comes at you fast of course that's me i'm not tyreek hill and also i've never had a chance to gloat about money in my entire life so yeah but like he said though weird he doesn't want to take it that much does he want to get paid more than justin jefferson's contract because he says he want doesn't want to be greedy being greedy doesn't help the team so he says so it's it is a tough kind of spot for him i don't think you turn down the money if the team offers it to you no i don't want to be greedy right yeah i mean his numbers i've said this before not that this is relevant in any way but goodness this the fantasy football league that i won in 22 was because of tyreek hill oh he'll be the first top five pick probably this year yeah his his numbers were off the charts and he's a game changer he's a difference maker all right coming up i'm gonna hit the diamond couple of big news stories coming from major league baseball and i still am kind of blown away by the dodgers ability to just move on move forward nothing to see here but that's that's how it goes uh and also i got this tweet from michael are you ready so michael i just want you to know this is mike from baltimore that right as we were starting this segment producer jay joked to me this is off air so he's in my headphones that by the time the nba finals are done there'll be three days before the off-season program starts or before next season what did you say before next season starts so mike writes to us from baltimore did you see the nba finals schedule game seven is close to nfl opening day right yeah it's unbelievable and i swear they're on a mission to not play any of the nba finals games on the same day of the week meaning like they stretch it out it goes thursday sunday wednesday saturday monday yeah it's it's it's all about variety variety is the spice of life game seven september third it's labor day weekend no really what is the schedule do you have it because i'm pretty sure that game seven wouldn't be done until the 18th maybe maybe it's even after that the 19th let's see so game one thursday game two is sunday june 9th game three is wednesday june 12th game four is friday game five would be monday game six would be june 20th and game seven would be june 23rd oh my gosh so this series could take over two weeks if it goes seven games it's june 5th right now they start on june 6th and it wouldn't be over until the 23rd yep it's 17 days oh my gosh dallas to boston that's a far fight uh yeah stanley cup final is the start yeah stanley cup final or biking stanley cup final doesn't start until saturday and actually they do have the the longest distance between the two teams competing in the stanley cup final ever so they've got a lot of frequent flyer miles not so much for boston and dallas but yeah there's kind of a big gap in that one too yeah saturday monday games one and two and then going to edmonton they don't play again until thursday yeah i feel like it's because they need an extra travel day that's tough probably not only are you flying a bazillion miles but you're also changing multiple time zones yeah they give them three three days three days before each travel day game that makes sense yes absolutely yeah it's after hours with a that's not just the sound of that first sip of morning joe it's get invented they'll be on auto trader just you wait auto trader i mean lawrence you are listening to the after hours podcast it never eclipsed 101 and did so twice in that at bat now i had one and two on otani and a swing and a miss struck about one oh one jared jones strikes out shohei otani let him have it with that heat this is after hours with amy lawrence a neat experience it's like something my grandmother would say it was so neat uh jared jones another one of those uber rookie pitchers for the pirates going against his childhood team the dodgers uh used to go to games when he was young growing up in the la area strikes out shohei otani with a fastball that's 101 on the gun i like how that sounds 101 on a gun baby on the pirates radio network he actually goes six shutout innings against that vaunted dodgers lineup allows three hits but strikes out six and the pirates win one nothing anytime you can shut out that dodgers lineup it's pretty impressive now shohei otani's got great numbers freddy freeman mookie bets i mean this is uh it's a power pack trio there so don't be worried about them and now otani and the dodgers can officially put behind them the ipa matsuhara gambling slash thieving scandal because on tuesday morning he pled guilty he accepted his plea deal and it's over and done with he's awaiting sentencing around halloween no joke how is it that some people get sentenced like lickety split within weeks and all but others halloween crazy how that works ebay was asked what he did as part of the hearing and his response was this quote i worked for victim a otani and i had access to his bank account and i had fallen into major gambling debt and the only way that i could think of was to use his money i had access to bank a so i went ahead and wired money from my gambling debt with his bank account he is supposed to pay full restitution of 17 million dollars that's never going to happen he does face deportation which we had talked about with michael dewarte of nbcla he actually told us that he believes as part of this deal pleading guilty agreeing to these terms that there's a very real possibility if ebay mitsuhara is willing to give intel to the feds about what he knows regarding this gambling ring that they might actually just deport him and he goes back to japan and serves no jail time i just don't get why that's okay why is japan okay with him serving no jail time well he's not officially a u.s citizen according to according to the documents so they don't want a criminal here i guess i don't know send him back but also what are the chances that once he returns to japan with his family that they're going to be able to get any type of money out of them you would think that any restitution at that point how are you going to enforce it when he's halfway across the world gone off the grid off the grid maybe he gets paid millions for a tell-all book there you go now see there's an option tell-all book except that might violate whatever agreement you have with the feds you wouldn't even get to keep it so you're doing all that work for but then you're out of debt i mean i feel like he's not going to pay anything back anyway i was going to pay that back so he's been fined 1.25 million dollars as well don't know where he's getting that doesn't have a job well he might he might be working at sonic you never know you can i'm not sure if he's allowed to work right now convicted felon anyway the dodgers are thrilled to have that off their plates off their chests otani same thing uh otani released a statement to me talking about the relief and wanting to focus on baseball dave roberts though he's proud of how the dodgers went through this whole thing i think everyone did a great job yeah considering all that was going on and for it to kind of come to a close now i think it's i think the process went great yeah he's been great um obviously things could have been a distraction but for shohei uh it's been nothing but um baseball and being able to kind of compartmentalize all that stuff he's done a fantastic job of that the process went great yeah i think the process went great yeah oh gosh it's so not what dave roberts wants to be talking about and it could have been i will admit to this or i'll agree with this it could have been a lot worse for the dodgers honestly it could have been a lot worse the fact that it happened that we found out about it in march j and now it's early june and it's put to bed it's done baseball's got no more questions the dodgers are moving forward and as i've said before whether or not you believe that shohei otani had nothing to do with it at this point it doesn't matter because it's over it's irrelevant it's done right what we believe is completely irrelevant you should choose to believe otani because there's no smoking gun that indicates otherwise and yet still right j's got this smile on his face because he still can't he can't let it go i believe it's after hours with amy lawrence on twix at a law radio and then our facebook page to have answered some of your ask amy questions and i will get to more of them but you know we like to end with a little fireworks a little excitement a lot of you are big into the women's college world series i've worked games there i've done play-by-play for world series games in oklahoma city an amazing venue not only do i love the sport i played the sport for years but the the excitement and the people that show up for all the teams that are still alive and remember oklahoma on the ropes against florida on tuesday attempting to keep their women their world series hopes alive right trying to win a fourth consecutive title and yet this one was tied in the late stages at five until ou walks off with a home run oh my gosh really exciting it was neat to see the video we don't have the play-by-play but head coach patty gasso she was jumping up and down at third base one of the better games in college world series history it was just a nail biter a little bit of everything um from their side was just and kelly will talk on this i'm sure it was just hard to get those guys out they have big swings they cover the zone roth rock absolute star on the mound just fighting for her team um on the this side it's kelly maxwell taking over like probably fourth on third on um shutting them down a bit some big timely hits patty gasso excited as you can imagine uh and now oklahoma is in the championship series after beating florida with the walk off home runs it was a winner take all game jada coleman in the eighth inning just goes right over the wall and i mean inches to spare as it clears the wall and also inches above the glove of the left fielder the florida gators left fielder so now you've got a best of three series that starts today or tonight uh eight o'clock eastern time at seven o'clock okc time and it's the red river rivalry it's the sooners and it's the longhorns believe it or not jay my husband asked me hey when does the world series start what like the world series for major league baseball that's in october no no the women's college world series he wants to watch he's a longhorns guy that's right he wants to watch because he is a longhorn and because he cheers the longhorns he bleeds burnt orange and i do know this because after we were working in the yard on saturday he comes inside and there's a bunch of blood trails down his leg i don't know something about a nail who knows a nail in the yard a nail in the wood the door he was
