Just when you think there's a breather, oh, think again. And now, these days, every other night, there seems to be another reason to talk about Kaitlyn Clark and the Indiana Fever and the WNBA. As I mentioned, my mom is now a WNBA league pass subscriber.

She couldn't have named two players in the WNBA a month ago. And she is all in. And she's not the only one.

That's why I think it's incredibly cool. It's not just fans who are following Kaitlyn Clark. But there's a wave of support for this league and for the other women in the league, for the other teams in the league.

It's after hours with Amy Lawrence. We just heard from Kaitlyn. But before we welcome our guests from Seattle, I want you to hear this soundbite from her again. Because she was psyched about playing in front of 18,300 plus in Seattle. It was pretty incredible. That crowd and the environment was great.

Just looking around, just like a sea of people on both sides behind the baskets. It was a great game. Obviously, I would have loved if we would have won. But I hope these fans continue to still show up for Seattle. They've got a great team. Hopefully, when we come back here, they'll be here. It's so fun playing in front of those environments. So Kaitlyn Clark and the Fever come up just short to a game Seattle Storm Team.

Of course, it's got some championship experience in its past. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence. We are pleased to welcome Alyssa Charleston, who covered this game in Seattle. We heard what Kaitlyn had to say about the atmosphere. Alyssa, what was it like? Oh my goodness. Well, first of all, thanks for having me on to talk about it.

Because I'm so wired. It was such a crazy atmosphere. They just kept showing more and more Seattle celebs that were in attendance. And that's not completely abnormal, honestly, if you're in Seattle and you follow the sports there. A lot of people show up for their teams.

But it was just electric from start to finish. I mean, from long before intros, people were excited once Kaitlyn Clark ran out onto the floor. I didn't know what kind of reaction there would be just because I heard at Connecticut that there was obviously a ton of Fever fans that showed up for her and cheered for her. But there were also Connecticut fans that were cheering for her mistakes. And that's why she's changing the game.

She's making people care one way or the other. So Seattle Storm fans went crazy when she was announced. And there's so many young girls and young boys that were going nuts.

I talked to a bunch of different people that have kids and some have teenage boys and they were trying to do anything they could do to get into the game. And it was sold out two hours before there were a bunch of Seahawks that were like representing and they threw out like they were like throwing T-shirts across. It felt like Seattle had been waiting really 25 years for something like this. And I think we all recognize that Kaitlyn Clark is behind it, but it's also the investment that's gone into her and her career and what she's done. But like she's one of only two rookies. I think Diana Taurasi is the only other one that's averaged 17 points in her rookie year. And so if Kaitlyn continues to do that, she deserves all the praise in the world.

She's handling it so gracefully, too. So just to clarify, the majority of the fans there were cheering for the Storm. They were excited to see Kaitlyn, but they were all in on their own team. Yes. Yeah.

Important clarification. They were going crazy any time the Storm made a run. And what was cool to see is, yes, there were loud cheers for Kaitlyn Clark, but it went crazy. I mean, the place was shaking when Jubal Lloyd was announced. And that shows, you know, recognition for Seattle's teams and the athletes that we already have. And that's what's special about it.

And I'm sure you've talked about this a ton. Like Kaitlyn is bringing new fans to the WNBA. There were a bunch of fans, I'm sure, that had never seen a WNBA game tonight. And now they get to see Jubal Lloyd do stuff that Kaitlyn Clark has done.

The fadeaway jumpers, the turnarounds, the over-a-hand, like highly contested, off-the-screen fadeaway three. Like, she has been doing that on the regular. And now people get to see her and more of NECA and more of Skylar Diggins-Smith, Sammie Whitcomb. So that's what's special. I think a lot of people were introduced for the first time to Seattle's superstars because they showed up to see a female like Kaitlyn. That's awesome. It's good to hear. Yes, the Seattle Seahawks were actually posting a photo of the guys who were in the house.

And I know that you retweeted it yourself. But they, as a group, showed up to support the storm. And no doubt that is in large part because of Kaitlyn Clark. I have to ask you, Alyssa, it seems to be a theme right now. Charles Barkley's talking about it.

LeBron's talking about it. Where there is criticism or maybe tepid support inside the league for Kaitlyn. I know some have phrased it as jealousy or envy. And I certainly understand that. Maybe some insecurity. But what have you heard from storm players about this new phenomenon that's gripping the league?

Well, I think that there is some credence to it. And I don't know if, I mean, outright, like, jealousy feels like the word for it. But it's also like, so many players have put so many years into this league and their blood, sweat and tears. And they've been told that they don't matter and that people don't care. And who cares if women's basketball is next? Like, it's not cool to do that anymore. It's cool to show up to games. And that's what's honestly changed my mindset, too. Because, like, I played college basketball. I played overseas. But I've always kind of accepted that, you know, certain demographics, you know, primarily older males, aren't really going to care about my sport. And that's okay.

Like, I got my school paid for. And there's, you know, like, especially with players now, like, they're making money. And NIL, and I think there's just a little bit of like, well, where have you guys been? Like, yes, Kaitlyn Clark is awesome, but you do sense that.

I can't lie for a single second. Even tonight, there are people that are kind of being careful with their questioning around giving her too much attention. And even, you know, there's a question on like, Kaitlyn scored, I think, 15 points in the final, I don't know, like, quarter and a half. Like, she really came on second half and made it a game.

And someone asked about like, the defensive adjustments, like, how do you stop someone like that? And it's like, well, we always have that kind of tough defense that we doesn't matter the opponent doesn't matter who wouldn't even name the Kaitlyn Clark. So it's like, I think they're kind of getting used to it a little bit, but no one has more pressure on them right now than Kaitlyn Clark. And I think it's hard to anyone who's been on the team with kind of like a not saying Kaitlyn Clark is a ball hog, but she's someone who commands attention.

Right. Anyone who's been on a team with that kind of player, you have mixed feelings because you're like, okay, you're helping us win. But also it's like, you're getting all the glory.

And it's just, it's a little hard, I think, to wrestle with. But I do think the more people talk about it and like, say, you know, like, Noel Quinn was happy to sing Kaitlyn Clark's praises, the head coach of Seattle Storms. So coaches get it. I think players are like still coming along, but it's personal for them. And I don't blame them. I think it will change over time, though.

It's like playing on a team with Tom Brady or Patrick Mahomes or Aaron Rodgers, where nothing that you do really seems to matter compared to the Hall of Fame quarterbacks. Alyssa Charleston is with us here from Seattle following this first West Coast trip for the Fever and Kaitlyn Clark. But the Storm end up winning by two in an exciting final minute.

It's after hours with Amy Lawrence. Well, from your perspective, and I played college hoops, too. I've asked this question of a lot of women in the industry, like Lisa Bluder and Lindsey Gottlieb. Why Kaitlyn? I've even asked Hall of Famer Ann Myers Drysdale, why Kaitlyn? Because there have been some incredible players.

There are some incredible players who are in the league. Why do you think it's Kaitlyn that that has attracted all of a sudden all this attention and spearheaded this meteoric popularity spike? Yeah, it's honestly such a good question. And you can't ask enough. I'm so glad that you have asked all those great minds and like your mind yourself. You know, as a college basketball player that we just didn't get the same kind of traction.

And I think it's a two part answer. I think part of it is he has been doing things that no one else quite has done. Ariki Ogunbawale is honestly one of the closest comparisons. And then Kelsey Gray lately at certain times, like she went off against the Seattle Storm in the playoffs in 2022 against Sue Bird and was just unconscious. I've never seen a player just be in that kind of zone the way she was hitting mid range shots.

I just haven't seen someone with a quick release that's willing to pull up from the logo that has the green light, like not just in college. She now has the green light for the most part with Indiana Fever. Like we saw that Connecticut game where she took the lead in the fourth quarter with a shot that was literally like seven feet beyond the three point line. And it's really that Steph Curry effect.

And I know there are so many other players that maybe are more versatile that can get it done around the rim and have so many skills. She's just got such a crazy skill from beyond the arc. It's kind of like Harlem Globetrotters, like circus stuff that she does that just puts people in awe.

And she does it at a pretty high clip. And the other thing is, I think places like ESPN have really invested in putting her in front of people and putting her in highlight reels on Sports Center. And they've really invested in her. And I think that's from a bunch of WNBA players calling for investment. Like if you build it, they will come for a long time. So it's a huge credit to WNBA players who have asked for that for a long time. I think it just caught the thing by storm. And she made it to the national championship twice.

So I don't think we can like discredit that. Her and Kate Martin and obviously an incredible coach in Lisa Bluder. But I think that's the two parters, the circus act stuff that she can do and then the investment in her. Alyssa, the Storm have their own rookie that they've been waiting on, Nika Muehl, who came from Connecticut. What does she had to say about her journey to finally get a visa? She was hilarious. She was putting in extra work after the game too. Like she was running up and down the court with a trainer doing cuts. Yeah, she was working up quite a sweat after the game. And I asked her about, you know, like the shirt, like what's the thing with the shirt? That was an awesome shirt because she wore showed up to the Storm game tonight, you know, as they're all doing their cool outfits and stuff. She had a shirt that said had like a picture of a visa with a stamp of approved on it. Hilarious. And so she was like, yeah, my dad's a creative designer. He's like a graphic designer.

He got it done in one day. I should have gotten my visa from this place. But I think part of the problem with her getting a visa is she was not an employee of UConn.

I mean, I don't know if you've already talked about this with other people and I'm just saying the same thing. But the Storm PR person today was telling one of us that like it's the fact that you get your your employment is based on gains. It's like the same thing with NFL.

It's like, oh, I get my game check. You're not necessarily an employee just because you're practicing. So I think that's what took so long is because she went from being a student athlete at UConn. She couldn't earn NIL as far as I know, because international students can't earn NIL if they're not an employee.

Right. And then she came to the Storm and we know how quick that turnaround is from the WNBA draft. So she wasn't able to get like employment status.

So it just kind of delayed everything. But she's legal. She's good to go. She is a ball of energy. And yeah, she is. She's truly hilarious. Like she's such a fan favorite because of her personality.

Good. I hope it's not just Kaitlyn, but it's other rookies that also attract a lot of attention. And we know about Aliyah Boston, who is a second year player, but Angel Reese and Cameron Brink, who's part of the WNBA now, too, coming out of Stanford. And actually, if you don't mind, I'm going to throw you a curveball, Alyssa, because I see on your Twitter that you're a Pac-12 product. What's your reaction to what's happened to your conference? Oh, my goodness. Well, it's so sad. And I do have to clarify, I call games for Pac-12.

Oh, gotcha. But I played at the University of Idaho. I grew up in this area.

And so I live in Seattle now. I grew up on Pac-10, Pac-8, even right before I got born. I was born like you were fed and bred Pac-10 and then Pac-12. It's so weird. And the weirdest thing is that I'm sure since you played, like, you know how good the women's basketball conferences.

Yes. Like they had 16, 17 ranked in the top 25 for most of the season. That is nutty. And to see it like, oh, it's falling apart now, like the college football, UW and Oregon, like UW made it to their first national championship in forever since 1991. And so it's just it feels like the weirdest timing. But I think everyone points to L.A. Everyone points to UCLA and USC for dipping out early and having conversations that nobody knew were going on. And you also have to blame the last two commissioners.

It's Larry Scott and it's George Cleofkopf for not primarily Larry Scott. It's like, you know, you're responsible spending and then not coming up with a deal that was lucrative enough to keep UW and Oregon. And there they go. It's it's so weird. I just like I can't even imagine next year what it's going to be like.

Like the WCC now has Seattle U and Grand Canyon and Wazoo and Oregon State. Oh my gosh. It's so weird. It's hard to keep up. It's like it's like free agency in any sport when you don't pay attention to one.

Seattle, obviously. So I find out really early on in the NBA season, oh shoot, like he's on this team now. That's what it feels like with like, oh yeah, well, dang, like Utah and Arizona are in the Big 12 now.

My goodness. I still hear it from Seattle sports fans all the time on our local affiliate that they desperately would love to see the NBA back in their city. Do you hear that from people, too, working in the industry?

Oh, it's constant. It's like you hear it as often as good morning. People want a team here so bad. Like it's the environment tonight. I mean, packed to the brim, like every single seat filled climate pledge is perfect for basketball. And there's a little pressure on the Seattle Kraken NHL team, honestly, to like get it going because the second the NBA announces expansion teams, which there's a strong hope, like there's a strong optimism, almost like confidence that the NBA will return. But it's like Kraken have to continue to hold on and grasp their fan base because the NBA is coming. And that's going to take even more attention from every sport. Right. So that we just want our history back, like the GP and the Shawn Kemp and the let the little kids know that weren't alive yet. That that's how Seattle was built. Right.

The Sonics were built. I hope it's got to happen soon. Maybe this summer.

We might get an announcement this summer. It's crazy, too, because as you say that, I always tease younger people who never saw Michael Jordan play like, oh, you're such sad saps. You never saw the greatest of all time. Or even going back a little farther to guys like, I don't know, Joe Montana and Jerry Rice, that kind of stuff. But now you're right. We're getting to a generation of sports fans who don't even know that Seattle had a basketball team. Gosh, that makes me feel old, actually. I hate that.

That's the reality that just struck me. Yeah. I'm glad, though, that the women's basketball team is getting a lot of that attention and that the other local teams are supporting. If you want to see some of the videos from inside the arena, the sold out crowd, raucous electric atmosphere, you can find Alyssa on Twitter at Alyssa Charleston, C-H-A-R-L-S-T-O-N. We would love to connect with you again. Thank you so much for a couple of minutes on the show tonight. Yes, of course. Thank you for having me on. I feel like I got to vent and express all this excitement. You're on my level right now, so I love it. Oh, always.

Absolutely. Talk to you soon, Alyssa. Thank you.

Thanks. She's like, I'm wired. I need to do a radio interview. But that's actually good. We do catch a lot of our guests coming off of big events and they are so excited to talk about it.

They just want to share what they saw, what they heard, what they felt. And that's awesome. Good to talk to Alyssa. And she did mount a couple of curveballs that I threw at her with Fox 13 Seattle, a sports anchor and reporter.

And right now is on the Seattle Storm beat, which included Kaitlyn Clark and the Indiana Fever and a game that raised the roof, if you will. I know I'm not cool. I should never be saying things like raise the roof. Is that cool still? I don't know, Jay.

You are the cool meter in my life. Oh, that's not a great thing. You and my nieces. Although my older niece, Deanna, her response to everything is just do what makes you happy on TV.

That's not helpful, but thank you. All right. We still have to get to the opener of the Eastern Conference Finals in the NHL, a shutout at Madison Square Garden and weird, weird shutout at Madison Square Garden. And also, we'll get back to some more of the basketball reaction from the opener of the West in the NBA.

Lots of quarterback sound. What, what QB news? Again, this, I guess it's the last week before Memorial Day. I was going to say last week in May, but we still have some days of May next week. We've got this holiday weekend, though, and a lot of these teams are trying to get in their OTAs, their first voluntary workouts before the holiday.

So everything from Lamar Jackson to Dak Prescott to Josh Allen, who is thinking about changing sports. Huh. To Jordan Love to Brock Purdy. Oh, yeah, it's good stuff. We've got a mixed bag or a smorgasbord, a sporty smorgasbord, if you will.

This is After Hours with Amy Lawrence. The Florida Panthers do what the Florida Panthers do. They clog up the drain, if you will. They just try to limit the number of shots of their opponents. They do it if they can by slowing down the pace, by clogging up the middle. And that formula worked against the New York Rangers in the opener of the Eastern Conference Finals. I was keeping track of the number of shots. Yes, Sergei Bobrovsky has plenty of Stanley Cup playoff experience. He's a veteran in the NHL. But outside of, I would say, a few point blank shots by the Rangers, he wasn't challenged all that much. And in terms of volume of shots into the late stages of the third period.

So I would say, gosh, Jay, what do you think about like six minutes to go? The Rangers still only had 14 total shots on goal. When they pulled the goalie, and this was after the Florida Panthers, they had a goal that was then disallowed on goalie interference. They then score again, sort of. It was an own goal, right? So it was, shoe, who was it in front of the net?

That's right, thank you. He went to, I think, try to knock it out of the way in front of Igor Shosturkin, but instead he just caught it on the wrong side of his stick and it went right between the legs of his goalie. So it's an own goal.

That was kind of tough. But you have to give the Panthers credit for at least generating some traffic around the net. So after that goal, which could not be disallowed, you know, they pull Igor early. They have an extra skater on the ice. There are a couple of power plays in there as well. But then there were a few extra shots that kind of padded the stats. And by saying that, I mean it gives an inaccurate picture of how well the Panthers limited the number of shots for the Rangers. Because, again, they finished with 23, but I felt like a bunch of those came in the late stages when the game was, I don't want to say it was over, but it was a little bit different tenor to the game once they pulled their goalie. So yeah, that big one, the first one, Jay and his dad, you guys were listening on the radio and watching on TV, right?

That's right. What did you think of the crowd at MSG? Because I kind of felt like they were just waiting for a reason to go nutso. I felt like they were waiting, but never really exploded.

Had that chance. They never got it. I mean, it wasn't, I guess not as much on them. I thought the crowd could have done a little bit more to hype up the team to kind of get the atmosphere going, especially for the price that it cost to get into that building.

I figured you'd be screaming your head off, but yeah, they didn't really get a chance. The Rangers didn't get much going, so. So instead, that first goal goes to Matthew Kuchuk, and he has continued to be a stable force for the Panthers. Check in on how to score big goals. Through this run, he now has, what is it, 16 points?

He's got five goals and 11 assists to this point. And he actually says the Panthers, they have prepped for this deep run into the playoffs and now facing the Rangers going all the way back to training camp. Our training camps are not fun, and it gets you an uncomfortable feeling right away when it comes to, you know, what the work, just how hard you need to work, what it takes to win. You know, we've gone through in the last, you know, since I've been here, some really big ups and downs and gone through some stuff that has just made us stronger. So, coming here into a hostile environment, playing against the best team in the league, you know, it's stacked up against you pretty good in game one especially. But, I don't know, we took that as motivation.

So you hear Matthew say, the MSG crowd, you know, this is a big deal, they're home, they're the best team in the league. But because the Panthers used their formula and jumped out to the lead, so they got the only goal in the first period, it kind of kept the lid on MSG. As Jay points out, they never really were able to just lose their marbles and lose their minds, so that was big. And then Sergei Bobrovsky did have some critical saves, a few that were point blank right in front of him. He was able to actually to catch a few of them just right in his midsection. They were body blows, if you will, and he was able to cover them up and make sure there were no rebounds, no second chance opportunities.

He has 23 saves and a shutout. And actually, I was kind of surprised. Not that this isn't the case. It's funny because hockey's a winter sport, right? And then we think of them as spring sports a little bit when they kind of get to this point where the playoffs don't begin until mid-April. The issue though is, and this happens around the league in different places, as the weather and the temperatures start to warm up, well then it's harder for the ice to stay cold and obviously then it gets soft. And so here's Kreider's actually complaining about the surface. This is not an excuse at all because we're both playing in the same ice, but the ice wasn't the best. But that's going to be the case at this time of year. That's going to be the case when you're playing warmer months, warmer outside. There's a lot of people in the building.

You know what's funny though? I normally hear that about someone else's rink. You don't generally hear a player talking about the ice at his own rink not being great. But again, for those of you who live in different parts of the country, maybe you've had the warm temperatures for a long time. But this is the warmest week for the New York City area so far in 2024. Temps, at least in my neighborhood, now I'm inland a little bit and so it's a little bit warmer away from the water. But the temps in my neighborhood were into the 90s with the heat index on Wednesday afternoon are supposed to be the same.

Coming up on Thursday and the humidity is building and so yeah, it's a warm week. It's a little bit harder to keep that ice solid, to keep it cold. The thing is though, yeah, they're both playing on the same ice.

Maybe it negates the speed a little bit, the explosiveness a little bit. But still, the Panthers get credit for the type of game that they play. It honestly can be a little bit boring at times to watch the Panthers play and yet the formula works. And if you're talking about conditioning, you're talking about their ability to limit teams that have better offensive skills or are known for their offense. Really prolific teams like the Rangers.

The Rangers are a great comeback team though and there's always that potential. I came in and Jay was a little bit morose. How are you doing? A little bit. And then first he was like, I'm okay. And then proceeds into this rant about why.

Well, you got me going. Alright, really quick before we take our break because Brent is in Seattle and he was at the Storm Fever game. Brent, what was it like? I hope it wasn't this quiet at the game. Why do people do that? Why do they call up and then put us on mute or put us on hold, put the phone down, walk away?

Now, here's the thing. He's maybe listening to the radio somewhere. He's going to come back in 30 seconds and start talking. He wasn't even on hold that long, honestly.

I'm so excited to tell the story. No, he just called up about five minutes ago. Alright, we tried. He's going to figure it out in three, two. Oh, there he is. 855-212-4227 on Twitter, ALawRadio, on our Facebook page too.

Marco Balletti is here in studio. I have a bunny update. Okay.

Are you ready? Yes. Are they gone? Yes. Gone in a good way or?

Well, that's the thing. Gone in a chipmunk way. Stop it. I will tell you what I discovered on Wednesday morning and you can tell me that mama moved them.

And even if you don't believe that, just tell me that mama moved them anyway, okay? Alright. So, I get home. Oh my gosh. After an hour and 20 minutes, a commute that takes more than double what it normally does.

Highway, clothes, blah. Anyway, I look out the window into the backyard. Just, I thought I would take a look. And I realized that the nest is disheveled and pulled apart. So, the fur that was mama's fur that was not only lining the opening to the nest but was kind of covering the nest in a way. And then a bunch of the grass was kind of pulled out and was now outside the perimeter, if you will. So, remember I left a bunch of tall grass around the nest. So, it's kind of out in the yard. It's not even on the nest anymore.

So, I got nervous thinking, shoot, we studied about chipmunks and how they're omnivores and what if a chipmunk got in there. And so, I go and I check the nest really gingerly. The grass is all trampled around the nest, right? There's not a lot of it still standing up straight. And I realize there's nothing in the nest.

Like, absolutely not. No babies, no noise, no nothing. The nest is deserted. So, I get nervous thinking, oh no, an animal got to them, right?

But what my hope is that because there's no trace, right? There's no trace of the babies. I don't know that birds, well, owls hunt at night. So, if, but I can't imagine the babies were out in the middle of the night. So, owls do have great night vision. But most birds don't hunt at night. And we do have foxes in my neighborhood. We have cats, obviously, in our neighborhood. And then the chipmunks, although I can't, there's no way a chipmunk ate five baby bunnies. But anyway, there's no signs, right? There's no, I'm sorry, this is gross, but there's no carcasses, there's no remnants of baby bunnies.

Thank goodness. So, my hope is that mama got back last night, realized that a chipmunk had been there, maybe because of the smell or whatever else, and that she moved them quickly to another part of the yard. Like, I have a tall line of pine trees that are in the back of my yard. I've also got a rock garden that, you know, that provides some shelter. So, I'm hoping that, or I have a shed. We have a shed, which she could easily get under there.

I'm hoping that she moved the babies and that that was mama taking care. Did you look around? Yeah, I did. Did you look for any traces of anything else? But you don't see anything. No, there's no you holes or anything like that, no? No what? You holes.

New holes? You holes. I was joking. Oh, sorry. That completely went over my head.

I was like, you holes? No, there's nothing. No traces of anything. Like, the rest of the yard looks completely undisturbed. So, the only thing that's different is that there's a couple clumps of fur with grass that are out on the lawn and then the fact that a lot of the grass around the nest has been trampled. Yeah, I mean, I'll be fair for your sake and hopefully for the bunnies.

Thank you. I have no idea, though, because I'm out of my element. I grew up in a city, so I'm not used to any of this stuff. We had squirrels and we had, you know, stray cats.

I don't know any of this stuff. So I'm- Chipmunks. You had chipmunks. No, we didn't. Really? No. Oh. Where?

I don't know. I thought chipmunks were everywhere. No, even the stray cats was rare. We had squirrels. That was it. I mean, you're in a city like in a real... There's nothing else.

Norc. Yeah, so there was nothing else there. So, I'm just starting to get used to a little bit of mother nature, so I don't know enough about the animals and what they do and how it works, and did some of the coyote come and they just take everything?

I have no idea. Yeah, I don't think a coyote could get... So I have a gate and it's pretty low to the ground. A fox could get under, a cat could get under, a bunnies could obviously get under, but there's no way a coyote could get underneath my fence.

It's pretty low to the ground. So, but foxes, I don't know. The only thing is I just can't imagine that a fox or another animal that is that small could swallow five baby bunnies whole. Yeah, but they could also have their own that they brought it back to. That's possible too, no? Meaning like drag them all off?

Just all five of them? Again, I don't know enough about mother nature. Right. I don't either.

I'm gonna go with that the bunny took care of all of her baby bunnies, but I have no idea. I really... I'm speaking out of turn when it comes to mother nature. I don't know. Yeah. That's the thing is it just is that there's no trace. So you would think if a predator got to them that there would be some trace of something. You also did mention the owl, if it did, would take them away. But like all five of them all at once?

Well, not all necessarily all at once. Keep coming back and just take them back and put it back in its own nest. She's gonna raise baby bunnies? You'd see like pellets then, right? If there's an owl? Maybe.

Yeah. I didn't see... There was nothing. Just the only sign was that, A, they were gone and B, there was just the nest was kind of a mess. Maybe mama was in a hurry and she just grabbed him and ran. Well, yeah. I mean... Mothers are usually in a hurry.

That sounds about right. I wish I had a camera outside. I wish I had those bunnies. I wish I had a camera outside so I could have seen this, but it's dark out there, which I think is part of the reason why we don't have a light outside in the back.

Part of the reason why she felt comfortable. See under the shed. See if you could find a couple of spots. Take a look.

See if you can find anything. I can't... Look, if it's the bunnies, I can't imagine they went far. They may have left your yard, but I don't think they're gonna go very far. Oh, no, I don't think the babies themselves could walk yet, so mom always have to carry them. That's what I mean. So I don't think they're going very far.

I'm still hopeful that a couple of weeks down the road, I'll see teeny babies pop, be bopping around the yard. I'm sure it's possible. Whether or not they're the same ones is different, but hey, it's possible.

It's possible. It totally made me like real sad. Right away. I was like, Jay, no, they're gone. Can I give you a silver lining?

Yes, please. You can cut the grass now. That's a good point. I even said that to my husband. I was like, I guess I can go ahead and mow this patch of lawn.

Might as well. Okay. All right. Jay, what are you in there? I don't know if I want to say it. Oh, see, I knew Jay has something on his mind. Okay, let's not.

Why don't you think about it? Not for now. Let's see. Coming up.

Hmm. Roger Goodell. Who doesn't want to hear from Roger Goodell?

How quickly could we go to an 18 game NFL regular season? And then Brent, he fell asleep. I gave him every opportunity. He says he promises he'll stay up.

Hyundai, there's joy in every journey. Listening to the After Hours Podcast. I'd rather replace a preseason game with a regular season any day. That's just picking quality, right? So if we got to 18 and 2, that's not an unreasonable thing.

This is After Hours with Amy Lawrence. Roger Goodell is consistent at the draft. He was talking about expanding the NFL regular season to 18 games and to be fair, this has always been the league's plan. I know they are taking it in stages incrementally going from 16 to 17, but the idea and the framework was always meant to be eventually 18 games. But if you do it in steps and you give the teams and the players an opportunity to get adjusted to 17 and then you push it to 18, well you can see that he is telling the truth.

16 and 2, nice round numbers. Two preseason games, did I say 16 and 2, sorry, 18 and 2, I think there are a lot of players that would have preferred 16 and 2. So 18 weeks if you factor in the two preseason games and then of course there's a buy.

Now I had floated this idea out there, why don't we have two buys? Each team gets two buys and that way, yes, you only have two preseason games, but over the course of what is a very long season, you end up having two weeks off. Sometimes though, well for pretty much every team, there are mini buys built in where you play on a Thursday or you play on a Monday type of a thing, so there are ways that the NFL can kind of finagle extra days off in the middle of a long season. But you know right now, teams who have some of the earliest buys, or the latest, anywhere between week 4 and week 12, 13 I think, they get a little frustrated because that stretch is long in between breaks. But yeah, Roger Goodell and the NFL, they've always been planning on 18 regular season games. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence, latest from Roger, coming on Wednesday.

It's kind of a weird time for him to be answering questions, but whatever. Yeah, possible 18 game schedule, what what? The key thing for us is looking at making sure we continue to do the things that make our game safer.

So we want to make sure that that hits the first boundary. You know, the 17 games is a long season, so we want to make sure we look at that and make sure that we continue the safety efforts. I told you, once the NFL has encroached on your territory, once the NFL has urban sprawled right into your Tuesday or your Wednesday or your Christmas or, in this case, an 18 game regular season schedule, they're not giving it up. They do not go backward. The NFL does not backpedal, except for when it comes to things like instant replay for judgment calls, pass interference.

That one just magically went away. The NFL is about taking more. It's not about giving back some of its real estate. No, consider this like eminent domain, which is a government policy where if they want to put a highway through or railroad through or airport, well, they're going to pay you for the land. I don't know what you think it's worth, but they're going to take it, whether you like it or not.

It's a law that they can do it, the federal government. It's been fought before. You can't win in a fight with the NFL. They're going to add another game. They're going to keep playing on Wednesdays. They're going to play in other countries.

They're going to now dominate Christmas, and they're going to continue putting games on streaming just because they can. All right, so how would it work, Roger Goodell? We would do it in the context of reducing the number of preseason games. We think that's a good trade. Less preseason games and more regular season games, I think most anybody would think was beneficial. Not those guys who don't play in preseason games.

So for some of those veterans who don't ever step on the field in the preseason to add it a regular season game is not quite an equitable trade. All right, let's talk to Brent, who's in Seattle. He swears he's not going to fall asleep again.

We'll see about that. Sorry, the melatonin kicked in. Oh, so you take melatonin and then you call a national radio network. Sweet. Yeah, that wasn't very smart.

But I took the melatonin before I decided I was going to call. Anyway, I have known Alyssa Senza. She played at Idaho. She was watching a game involving Seattle U at Key Arena, and I saw her play against Seattle U. So yeah, she's really talented.

I went to the game tonight with the storm and the fever, and it was a tremendous atmosphere. I agree with everything that Alyssa said. It came down to the last shot, and Kaitlyn Clark couldn't get the last shot in. I don't think she's the best player in the league. I saw Brianna Stewart play, and Brianna was much better coming out of college.

Actually, Brianna did struggle a little bit coming out of college. I think that Kaitlyn will recover, but she didn't get that shot off at the end. The last shot was actually Aliyah Boston at the end. Yeah, so she didn't have the ball in her hands. She was the one who kind of lost her footing when the final inbounds pass came in, or one of the final inbounds pass, when they were trailing by one with about 10 seconds to go, and then it turned out to be a jump ball, which Seattle won. So that was her, but the final shot was actually Aliyah Boston, and it was a tough one. It was from beyond half court.

That's correct. I meant earlier, yeah, Kaitlyn missed the shot, didn't get her shot off. I mean, I'm not sure anybody's called her the best player in the league. She's still getting adjusted.

That's not something I've heard anybody call her. There are extremely talented veterans in the WNBA, some very accomplished future Hall of Famers, but she's the draw right now. Whether or not she's the best player, I don't think that matters to fans. I don't exactly understand why she's the draw. We saw Kelsey Plumb play at the University of Washington.

The all-time leading scorer is very feminine, goes in appeals to a lot of people, and she's now one of the greatest players in the league. Now Vegas has sold out 10 of their 15 home games, and Vegas has four out of the top eight players in the whole league. So Vegas should be selling out the Seattle's arena, but they don't. It's Indiana. Yeah.

Shoulda woulda coulda. It's just who can really understand human nature and why we get excited about what we get excited about. That's kind of the great question, and yet Kaitlyn, I think, partly is the draw because she handles it so well.

She handles the pressure, and people really enjoy watching her play like they did with Steph Curry. It's After Hours with Amy Lawrence. Call from Mom. Answer it.
