Albert Pujols inches closer to baseball history. MLB Whiparound | QB News! | Your phone calls.

Good morning to you. It's a Tuesday. Earlier on the show, I called it a Tuesday night. That's getting ahead of myself. And I don't want to be one of those types of hosts that creates this false sense of, hey, we're closer to the weekend. And then we're really not. I've had these conversations with people lately.

I suppose you probably have as well. Oh, the summer. There's only so much summer left.

There's not much real estate left in the summer. And then my mom, who's already back in school, is teaching kids already. Her summer ended about two weeks ago, talking to my kiddos at church about when they're back in school. My niece then just started her classes. Her senior year at Virginia Tech started on Monday.

So it's all happening. But for the first time ever, I've never done this before, I saved my vacation, my summer vacation, until the very last second. I can't remember the last time I took off Labor Day. But this year, I'm actually taking my vacation to Houston right before football season kicks off, as in literally right up to the days when football kicks off. Although hearing some friends of mine and their travel nightmare stories on Monday with all of the thunderstorms, we desperately need rain in the northeast. And so it was great to get a lot of rain and thunderstorms that were sitting over the New York City and Newark area. I had friends who were on the tarmac for two plus hours. Other friends whose flights were changed so many times that they'd spent 12 hours in the airport and weren't sure they were going to get to their destination.

So let's hope that's not me next Wednesday when I need to get to Houston. Mom tells me the pool is too cold now. Too cold for her. It's all of 85 degrees or something, and that's too cold for her.

But I intend to be using the pool in the heat and humidity of Houston. Haven't seen mom since Christmas. It'll be my last opportunity to see family until the holidays. And so I'm looking forward to that. It's generally not me to wait until the end of the summer to take my vacation.

So trying something new. It was the cheaper plane ticket that really sealed the deal. For those of you that still have summer vacation left, I am with you. I'm in that same boat and I cannot wait. But Labor Day is coming. And you know my phrase is, we labor on Labor Day. I almost feel guilty for not doing it this year.

But I'll be with you in spirit. And then as soon as Labor Day is over, the NFL season kicks off. And even as the NFL kicks off, we're now 16 days away, we also enter the stretch run for Major League Baseball. And of course I care about pennant races and wildcard races and all of that jazz. But what I am most firmly locked in on right now in Major League Baseball is the chase. The march actually of one Albert Pujols toward baseball immortality. The 1-2. And Pujols hits it out to deep left.

And the low. Good. 693. 693 home runs. A historic home run. The 449th different pitcher he's hit a home run against. He's tied with bonds. First all time. Also his 30th career homer at Wrigley.

693. Listen to the cheers there. It's not quite as obnoxiously loud as it would be if this was Busch Stadium. But that's at Wrigley Field. The Cardinals and the Cubs are arch rivals. And that's at Wrigley Field.

And you can hear Cardinals fans or just baseball fans who are cheering and so thrilled that they're part of this moment. Albert Pujols now has 5 home runs in his last 6 games. He has 7 homers in 10 games.

The man is on an incredible tear. And against the Cubs he provided the only run. Hits it off Drew Smiley. This is number 449 as you hear it on Cardinals radio. And as that ball goes out it was more of a line drive variety. He smoked a high pitch. This one was up near his shoulders. Not quite eye level. But it was up near his shoulders. And as it barely gets over the wall he's running hard.

As hard as Albert Pujols can at 42 years old. He's running hard. And as he sees it go over the wall he's just about first base. And just lets out this incredible cheer. This roar. And you hear the fans behind him.

So that's awesome. He's now at 693. Turns out that home run was the only run of the game scored at Wrigley last night.

And Jordan Montgomery was just as brilliant. So a one hit complete game shutout for the former Yankee. No walks. 7 strikeouts. Not even 100 pitches in getting this unbelievable complete game. First of his career.

How about this? He's never pitched past the 7th inning in his career until last night. They were keeping track of the consecutive batters that he retired.

Think he's a man on a mission? Attempting to prove to the Yankees how wrong they were to trade him. Last out of the game was the 19th consecutive batter retired by Jordan Montgomery.

And the first guy he greeted. Well it was Albert Pujols. It was actually a 3-1 putout. So Pujols had to field the ball to get them out of that game. So pretty amazing to see those two and just to see the Cardinals now with 8 consecutive wins.

Albert Pujols number 693 also is the game winner. You don't look for a pitch up and three feet or four feet off the plate. Just something that you react on and just put a good word on always being a good fastball hitter. Especially up and just glad they went out of the ballpark and gave us the lead.

It's amazing. He's doing good for us. He's doing really good.

Hopefully he stays healthy and keeps doing what he does. Yadier Molina also in his 40s and a guy who's had a front row seat to so many of these milestone moments for Albert Pujols. Therein was the catalyst for our question. What major memorable unforgettable sweet sports milestone are you thrilled that you had a chance to see with your own eyeballs or here on the radio that can be just as compelling and I don't necessarily mean in person. One that you'll tell people about when those sad saps come along and they didn't see it.

They don't remember it. Some of you have come to me with the Hank Aaron home run. Man I feel like a sad sap because I did not see it. Miracle on ice. I was on the planet but I didn't see it.

Wish I had. So a memorable milestone or moment in sports because we're about to see another one. I am a believer that Albert Pujols is going to get to 700. They're not just throwing him out there as a charity case. Producer Jay asked me last night do you think there are some pitchers out there who toward the end of the season might groove him a ball just so he can get to 700.

A I don't think they have to. B I don't think we're looking at the end of the season with his hanging in the balance. He needs just four to pass Alex Rodriguez for fourth on the all time home run list and now we only need seven to reach seventh heaven seven hundred career home runs. What did you just ask me Jay before we started this hour about Pujols. Oh I did that he's going to catch Ruth. Well you didn't say it like that you said is Ruth in play.

Oh yeah. At this rate he's hitting what six every seven six home runs in his last seven games. Keep that up and get a shot.

Let's get to 700 first. It's after hours. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS Sports Radio. We're live from the Rocket Mortgage Studios.

When you need an expert to help navigate the home loan process Rocket can. We've taken a ton of phone calls tonight a little bit of an aberration for me. We've also seen a lot of tweets a law radio we've got a post up I'll retweet it now. It's about the most impressive memorable incredible milestones that you've seen in sports and that you're thrilled you were able to witness them. They happened while you were alive and here and cognizant that see we've had so many retweets that I had to page down here just to find this.

You can check it out on my Twitter a law radio or our show Twitter after hours CBS and then our Facebook page too. I'm trying hard to keep up and I'm having a difficult time. So good for Albert pools good for Jordan Montgomery and good for the Cardinals to be sure and manager Oliver Marmel actually says it's pools that's giving this team not only a left but this amazing extra motivation. I'm not sure how you even get to that pitch let alone hit it out his first at bat the one off the wall. He's just everything he hits right now is hard.

I like what we're seeing everybody's locked in. He's a he's doing a really nice job and take some really good at bats but overall the way the guys are competing. It's a it's fun to watch.

Let's not some of the defense too. I mean, Eddie's play their sliding grab in the grass. The pick on Albert's and all of it just playing really good baseball. It's a tear man. It's fun to watch him still kind of compete at a high level and the people he's breaking records of are just absolute legends that he's a he's a legend.

This is incredible. That's the voice of Jordan Montgomery after the game on Bali sports and we have a chance to catch up with Katie Wu who was in Chicago is in Chicago for this five game series between the two and all central rivals as she told us a couple of really cool stories and her perspective about Albert Pujols and his chase now for 700 but also Jordan Montgomery who, spoiler alert, has asked the media not to bring up the Yankees. He does not want to talk about the New York Yankees or the motivation or them trading him or the fact that he is now 4-0 with a.35 ERA since the Yankees made the deal.

Instead he just wants to focus on the fact that he's a Cardinal. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence so lots of attention and focus on Albert Pujols with every day that goes by but I just want to remind you here on After Hours we were anticipating this event, this home run march, this baseball immortality before the season ever began. We had Subway Series and a rematch of sorts between the Yankees and Max Scherzer who dominated them at Citi Field just a few weeks ago. You may remember that he struck out Aaron Judge three times in their first meeting. Scherzer's 1 1 swung on hit on the right. That ball is high.

That is far gone. It's a judge and blast in the right field seats. Aaron Judge breaks his 10 game homer list streak with a blast into the right field seats. All rise.

Here comes the judge. Here's the 1 0 to Ben Intendi. And the bitches line to right field. Marte on the run.

Can't get it. It's a base hit scoring kind of fall up. Now the 2 2 is strike three called. Ball game over. Yankees win. The Yankees win. You can throw all those pitches in any count inside, away, up and down.

He uses all quadrants. I think just everybody collectively really honing in on the strike zone and trying to get a pitch to drive. I was able to work the count a lot and get that pitch count up and then do some damage when you've got some other play.

That's why I love this game. It's a little chess match you get to play with the pitcher and the pitcher and the catcher. You've got a future hall of famer like that that you get to do that with. It's electric. You've got the crowd on their feet every pitch right along with you.

So it's fun. I look back on moments like that. Aaron Judge with home run number forty seven. Oh it was such a drought.

Once again it's judgment day. The last time he hit a home run was nine whole days ago. John Sterling on Yankees radio. So yes in the last battle versus Max Scherzer he was sorely over batched. Three strikeouts at Citi Field but goes two for four last night. Andrew Benintendi doing what he needs to do. Two for three with a couple of RBI and now the Yankees have a two game win streak at the expense of Mad Max who allowed four runs on seven hits though he did pitch into the seventh inning.

It's kind of a you know two things are going on at the same time. You know give credit to Yankees for what they will do but I can also look in the mirror and tell myself I can I can put the ball in better spots and execute better as well. Tip my hat to him. You got to take some looks when you lose and take a loss and move on and try figure it out and get better next time. I think he'd probably say his command wasn't at the level he spoiled the set but it was good enough to win a baseball game. The story tonight was we just couldn't get much together offensively. The opportunities we had they seemed to make a pitch when they needed to.

He was solid. I mean it's very hard to do and he did it at a high level and you know he'll get an extra day next time out and I'm sure he'll be good again and give us another chance to win. Buckshow Walter and Max Scherzer and so if we're keeping score at home that's now two for the Mets and one for the Yankees with one more to come in the Bronx on Tuesday. Though Jacob DeGrom will not pitch for the Mets he's been bumped as Taiwan Walker returns to the rotation. Remember there was some I guess some fears that he might be out for a little bit longer but he's going to return and so the Mets even as they wait for answers on some of their pitchers they're able to save Jacob DeGrom.

It's interesting why would you want to save him when you could start him against the Yankees in the Bronx? I do not know but that's the decision of Buckshow Walter and the Mets. It's after hours here on CBS Sports Radio so the Mets lose. What about the World Series champions who are trying and trying again to catch the leaders in the NL East? On Braves radio the Braves stay hot and even though they haven't been able to catch the Mets many times that they've tried. What do they have a 14 game win streak earlier in the year and then an 8 game win streak if I remember? Now they've won 8 of their last 10 and they are within 3 of the Mets but they've come as close as a half game. They've been staring down the Mets multiple times during these dog days of summer and just have not been able to catch them. Not yet anyway but they are definitely within striking distance again. The Phillies have fallen back some partly because they dropped 3 of 4 to the Mets over their weekend series. However they did win on Monday as well so we're looking at if not a 3 way race atop the NL East.

We're certainly looking at these teams being involved in the wild card. So we've got 5 weeks to go. Yes Albert Pujols, yes pennant races, yes wild card races but also yes football and that means some QB news. We've got a new starter.

In fact the 8th different starter for the Carolina Panthers since the 18th season kicked off. You will hear from him as well as the guy who lost that competition. And Tom Brady returns to practice though he did not speak but others are happy to speak about him. So some QB news and then we'll get back to your calls about those memorable milestones you've had a chance to witness in sports.

We're so proud you tell everyone, anyone who will listen, like me. It's After Hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS Sports Radio. You are listening to the After Hours Podcast. It's time for QB news on After Hours.

It's that time of year. As I say the countdown is on to the official start of the NFL season which means we've got quarterback battles that we have to update you on. The one in Seattle is a little bit wonky because it was Drew Locke who was about to take snaps with the first team.

Then he got COVID. Then Geno Smith returned to that QB one spot for the preseason game only hurt. Who knows what's happening in Seattle.

I feel like though worse than not having a starting quarterback is being irrelevant and no one really caring. It's After Hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS Sports Radio. Coach that's so mean. There's an actual quarterback battle that's been featured and talked about ad nauseum in Charlotte.

The Carolina Panthers have decided Baker Mayfield will get that nod for the season opener against the Browns. What a coincidence. What did coach rules say to Baker as he told him the news? Just said that you know obviously he thought up on the job and just be able to move forward. It's about winning and still just how the whole situation was that he respected the way Sam and I handled it. And I think that you know speaks volumes obviously again to Sam and just how we tried to conduct it about all about winning and about the team. You know that's the first and foremost we were we were competing but it was always about the team and trying to win.

So Coach rule made sure to continue to emphasize that and just going forward that's always going to be the emphasis. I believe in both guys and I believe in who Sam Darnold is and I believe in how hard he's worked and how professionally he's been at the end of the day. We felt like you know Baker's made a lot of progress in a short amount of time kind of in the things I've talked to you guys about.

And so we felt like it was right to make that move for this team you know right now you know I said hey well we know we know we felt like we knew. And it's time now with the second preseason game done to sort of start to move forward and say hey Baker's the quarterback Sam you get ready and kind of go from there. That would be Sam Darnold who is now QB 2. Now I get it in the NFL you're always just one nasty hit away from becoming the starting quarterback. So yes Sam Darnold has to stay ready and he and Baker have shown an ability to coexist and to compete without it getting divisive.

Sam and I knew this day was going to eventually come but we weren't counting down the days we didn't know when it was going to happen or anything like that. So just this morning I was made aware that I was going to be starting and saw Sam shortly after he made it very clear that anything I needed in support or in terms of that aspect he was going to be there. And that just shows what kind of team guy he is. Honestly just an unfortunate circumstance that we're both here in the same year fighting for a job but that's the kind of guy he is. He said whatever you need in support he's just trying to win games and that's the mentality we've had the whole time. So I truly, truly appreciate that and he's a great guy. I think me and Baker viewed it every day was our game day out there during camp and especially as we got into these last couple weeks.

Yeah obviously it didn't go my way. Coach named Baker the starter and my mindset is what it is. And for me right now I'm going to do everything I can to support Baker and when the regular season comes around I'm going to do everything I can to support him and be ready for when my time comes. Very interesting as Baker points out it's the two of them in the final year of their deals both in their fifth seasons. Neither one has a contract passed this year. Baker will have the opportunity seemingly if he can remain healthy and keep that starting job but what if Sam gets the opportunity? Will he potentially turn some heads?

I don't know. And then I think about Matt Correll who is likely out for the season with the Liz Frank injury and I wonder did that derail all of the Panthers ideas about getting him ready so they could save money on a starting quarterback in 2023? It's after hours with Amy Lawrence weirdly enough we are staying in the NFC South and hearing from all four teams so that's the Panthers. Moving on to the Saints where Jameis Winston participated in 11 on 11 drills for the first time since tearing his ACL on Halloween and his center Eric McCoy is all about Winston running the Saints offense. He's a baller that's all I can say. I'm a big Jameis Winston fan. I know he's been out probably the last week or so with his foot I don't really know. But Jameis is a baller.

Big fan, great leader, great person and I'm excited for him this year. So Winston did miss the first two preseason games with a sprained right foot but appears to be better on the road to recovery so he did 7 on 7 Sunday and now full squad drills on Monday though he may not play at all in the preseason. He is the starting quarterback for the New Orleans Saints. Well the starting quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers decided to show up at camp again. Tom Brady around for the beginning and the opportunity to work with some of his new receivers and then took 11 days off, missed a couple of preseason games. Of course no one's real concerned about it but I bet Todd Bowles and others like Cameron Brate are happy that they no longer have to answer questions about Brady's absence. He's very familiar with the offense so him coming back in and getting back to work is kind of normal. Just getting used to the heat and getting used to the guys but you know he ran the offense well.

Even if it was something that was expected and scheduled it's still got to be nice to have it back just normal so you haven't handled it. Anytime you have all your guys back you feel good you know especially after the injury bug is hit lately so we're happy to have them back. Is this a distraction for the team or no?

No we pretty much keep distractions out of our locker room so it wasn't a big deal to us because everybody knew what was going on. I'm sure wherever Tom was he was working out still and getting his reps in. If anyone can get away with the 11 day break during training camp it's Tom. He came back kind of firing all cylinders again today so we're all excited he's back and ready to move on with that. Cam Brait.

Cam Brait with a mustache. I want you to just quickly hear what Todd Bowles had to say. He said we all knew this was happening this was planned so this was not an emergency break this was Tom Brady and his family on vacation. Maybe they set it up when he was retired for a month or maybe they didn't. Maybe he's just 40 something years old and didn't want to go all the way through training camp. Todd Bowles and the Buccaneers are okay with that. He wasn't going to play in those preseason games anyway.

So yes, Bahamas was the family destination. It's After Hours with Amy Lawrence here on CBS Sports Radio. One more team there in the NFC South. That is the Atlanta Falcons.

Head Coach Arthur Smith has a familiar quarterback in Marcus Mariota who is of course taking the snaps with the first team. I think those guys will continue to work. We got a big day Wednesday and it's about our progress. You know we're not going to live and die with the day to day narratives.

I've said that many times. It's about our progress and I think they're coming along and we know we got a lot of work to do before we kick off first. New Orleans Atlanta week one. Some of these rivalries that get you kind of juiced up. Marcus Mariota. And then he ruins it. Thank you Roger Goodell.

Good morning to you too. It's After Hours on CBS Sports Radio. Quickly from the AFC South though he used to be in the NFC South as the longtime quarterback of the Falcons. Matt Ryan is now with the Colts and while he's not directly following in the footsteps of Peyton Manning. He certainly hopes that his tenure with the Colts can be a little bit Peyton and maybe a little bit Peyton in Denver. It's always good to be in the same sentence or same conversation as Peyton. There's no question about it.

He was one of those guys I always looked up to as a young player. But for me I certainly think I'm in that space. I've had the experience throughout my career.

I've found a way to take care of my body. I feel like I'm in a place where I understand what I need to do in order to be ready to go. And I want to be in a place where there's expectation. You know going into year 15.

It's not fun when there's not expectation. You want that. And so I'm excited.

Really excited about that. I like that revelation or that point made by Matt Ryan. When there are no expectations.

I just made the quirk about or the quip I should say about Seattle. What's worse than not having a starting quarterback is no one caring. Being irrelevant. When there are no expectations it's just not the same. It's not the same sense of urgency. It's not the same excitement. The same tension. What is our friend Boomer Esiason like to say?

Pressure is a privilege. There's a lot of pressure on those Colts as well as on Matt Ryan after this change to Indianapolis. Remember when Baker let everyone know that he thought the Colts would be a good destination for him?

Don't! Although he's now a starting quarterback in the same division. It's after hours. CBS Sports Radio. You always want to hear from Aaron Rodgers whenever he speaks. Well last week he was ticked off at the young wide receivers. And he let them know it. He let everybody know it. But he believes that they have stepped up to the challenge. Those young whippersnappers.

And one of his targets, Russell Douglas, well knows you better keep your eyes focused on the QB. I think you have to be real about the expectations with all those guys. And then at the same time hold them to a standard of what they're capable of at this time.

Based on those expectations that are realistic. So the whole key is the consistency with what's being talked. You know the consistency with seeing improvement each day. And maybe just a reminder that every single one of those plays we're watching. Whether it's ones, twos or threes.

Split group, one group. And I just think there's a way of practicing that they just need to understand. You know playing the specific drills. Having an awareness that we're in a third down period. We're in a red zone period. We're in a two minute period.

We're going to move the ball period. Each one of those periods has a different urgency to it. And different little games within the game. And I just think there needs to be an understanding of that.

And that's what some of the conversations in the film sessions have been about. But we just want to see improvement from those guys week to week. I feel good about the veterans that we have in the room. It's just that next group of guys who's going to step up and get playing time.

I blame McAfee. He doesn't look at you and he throws it right at you. So it's like damn. And you try to look at what he's looking at and the whole time he already know where he's going. Like I already said, let me just make him move one more step right and I'm gunning it. So it's like you just got to kind of play that game with him like cat and mouse.

And then hopefully you're right. Just get ready. Because he about to start slinging it. So once he gets mad we already know like alright it's time to juice it up a little bit more. Because now he about to just start throwing us around the yard and it's going to get ugly. Russell Douglas, the corner back who gets to face Aaron Rodgers in practice. And in the 11 on 11 and recognizes that man he will fake you out.

He's not looking where he's throwing. People are coming here to play with me. Oh for heaven sakes. 10 seconds, 15 seconds. Just a radio friendly sound bite is all we're asking for. Alright.

This is not going to happen man. Oh okay. You don't get to dominate my radio show like you dominate Pat McAfee's. Seriously I blame Pat. But I feel like after Pat McAfee signed that massive deal with the corporate partner.

I can't remember which one it is. But he signs that massive deal and makes what was it 5 million dollars. He gets the infusion of cash and we all know it's largely due to his weekly conversations with Aaron Rodgers. And the amount of traffic, the amount of eyeballs and ear balls that he's getting on his shows, his YouTube channel, his broadcasts. Well yeah I guess then after you sign that deal and you have to welcome Aaron Rodgers back to your show the next week. I don't suppose you can cut him off. Now I suppose you just let him talk as much as he wants right? So I blame Pat McAfee and Hiyowaska.

Or Iowaska. I've given a lot less s*** the last couple of years. Oh for heaven sakes. I am all about Packers football.

But if he could, I just, I don't need to hear him nearly as much. Here I am heading to week two against the Bears under the lights at Lambeau. Just going to have to suck it up.

I got engaged. Alright then, on that note, some real QB news there. I got to go record some of my Southern Recipe small batch pork rind ads.

That's how you know it's football season. They are coming to a radio or a broadcast near you. You are listening to the After Hours Podcast.

This is After Hours with Amy Lawrence. You can't care what people think. No matter what people say to you, it can't change you.

You can't allow it to change you. How about the guy who said to me, you should give me some more respect. I am the guest. Hey, I am the guest on the show so show me a little bit of respect. No, bye buddy.

See ya. Haters going to hate. You can embarrass yourself in front of the entire country. I have no trouble with that. We get a lot of people who hate Amy Lawrence. Shake it off because you can't please everybody. What's now this open-minded rather than listen to you and giving time for a call. Daniel, I like to say, you doing your own thing.

There's going to be a bunch of haters that don't worry about what they're saying. I think you're doing a great job. I'm just going to shake, shake, shake, shake, shake. Shake it off, shake it off.

Call Amy at 855-212-4CBS. I'm just going to shake, shake, shake, shake, shake. Shake it off, shake it off. What are some memorable milestones that you have witnessed, you've been privileged to witness in your sports fandom, whether in person or on TV, maybe Vin Scully described it to you on the radio. We have had a variety of great answers, a lot of events that I just had thought or had forgotten all about or didn't see.

And so it's cool to take that walk down memory lane with you, even as Albert Pujols closes in on number 700 and baseball immortality. It's After Hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS Sports Radio, on Twitter, ALawRadio, also on our Facebook page. Let's see, phone number 855-212-4227. Let's get you a couple of these before the top of the hour.

Antonio is in Baltimore. Welcome to the show. Hey, Amy, long time listening. Get up, go to work, enjoy your show. Thank you.

You're great. Okay, I'm going to take this back to 1983. I was 14. The Baltimore Colts drafted John Elway, number one. And he said he was not playing here. He was going to play baseball and shun Baltimore.

And opening game of that season, the coach last season here, was against the Denver Broncos and John Elway. Well, my mother's boyfriend had to work. He was going to take me to the game.

There was 500 tickets available. I caught the bus from West Baltimore all the way over to Memorial Stadium and got in line and got two $12 tickets to go to that game. We had our love you blues signs and the entire game, I know you love them, but the entire game, there were chants of Elway, you know what.

And he had to come out the game and Steve DeBerg had to rescue him. Broncos won. But the trickle down effect it led to, and I'm going to be quick with this. Because Elway didn't come to Baltimore, it led to poor ticket sales and no end in sight. And the team moved after that year. And there was a 12-year hiatus and eventually we got the Ravens to come here when Art Modell moved his team. But that was a memorable moment for me to go to that game against John Elway after he said he wasn't coming here.

Like I said, it had a snowball effect on a lot of stuff. Eventually it led to us getting the Ravens. Well, I do like the progression there.

You have to follow that through. You have to be patient as a sports fan to get the payoff there. It was, like I said, some things it's worth waiting for. And I said to myself, a 12-year hiatus and we got to see Ray Lewis come out that tunnel game after game in his career.

It was worth the wait, but it was just a memorable moment for me considering what I had to go through to get a ticket and go to that game. Just wanted to share that with everyone. That's cool. Thank you. I appreciate that, Antonio. Have a good day in Baltimore.

You too. All right. Jason is in Sacramento.

Welcome to After Hours. Jason. All right. Yes. Hi, how are you? Oh. Oh. I hit the drop button just as he was saying hello.

And once I take my finger off it, there's nothing I can do. If he wants to call back, I suppose that he can. 855-212-4227. So we're going to go with a little twist on our Defensive Player of the Week feature. We're going to call this the Defensive Play of the Week with multiple athletes involved. It's sponsored by the Navy Federal Credit Union who proudly serves the Armed Forces DoD, veterans and their families. Their members are the mission.

Learn more at navyfederal.org. As this ball hits sharply, the first caught by Miranda runs to the base. That's a double play. Throws to Correa. And how about three?

Uno dos tres. Triple play. Jose Miranda took care of the first two. Correa on the back end. It's a triple play.

That should definitely be the Defensive Play of the Week. I know they are more and more common. It's not like you never see them anymore. There have been a handful, a couple. I'd have to look and see how many already this season.

But it's neat when it happens, right? And for the Twins, even as they lose to the Rangers, it's a double whammy for them because they lose Byron Buxton. And so we'll find out how long he's going to be out. He exited in the seventh with some hip trouble. But the triple play is still an impressive moment on the baseball paths courtesy of Twins Radio.

It's something that maybe they can use as a spark because they definitely need one trailing in that AL central division. So let's see. On Twitter, I've read a lot of your responses and producer Jay has also retweeted a ton of them. But there's a couple more here. Patty on Twitter. One of my first sports memories after Olga was Nadia Komanic in her perfect 10 at the Olympics. Also the miracle on ice. So those are responses that you can find retweeted on our show account After Hours CBS.

Some of you are going short and sweet. And actually, Steve just sends this 28 to 3. If you know anything about your football or Super Bowl history, you know that that was the Falcons collapse against the Patriots. I was actually there. The only Super Bowl I've ever witnessed in person. So yes, a memorable milestone. Only one ever to go into overtime and the only one with that type of comeback. Derek says the Bulls 70th win, which at the time was absolutely a milestone, though has been since eclipsed by the Golden State Warriors. Michael on Twitter, 17-0 1972. Undefeated season in the Orange Bowl.

There is only one. And he's referring to the Dolphins, the 50th anniversary. Well, I hadn't even thought about that, that it's the 50th anniversary of that one perfect season.

And there was an assault on that record with the Patriots until they ran smack dab into the Giants in 2007. Let's see. Ryan goes with miracle on ice and he says still haven't seen a sporting event to match that. Daryl, the Kawhi Leonard shot for Toronto. That wasn't that long ago, obviously.

Let's see. Damon says, Pirates beating the Reds in a wild card game when Johnny Cueto dropped the ball. Then Martin hit his home run. Never seen PNC Park so loud. So these are sometimes they're not so much milestones, but memories for you.

So I appreciate the milestones. Mark says Cal Ripken, the 21 31 game. It still gives me chills when I watch it. Linda, Kyrie Irving's game winning three, actually championship winning three, when the Cavs rallied against the Warriors. I'll never forget that. It was the only made shot in the final two and a half minutes of a game seven.

It was so tense inside the Oracle. The Warriors could not score. Kyrie Irving hit the three. They rallied from a one three deficit in the NBA finals. Jim says, Rick Mears and then Helio Castroneves winning a fourth Indy 500. Lots of responses on Facebook that you can check them out. And we'll go through more of them on our hump show here after our CBS sports radio. Boom.
