Are we in the last days?

Hi, Alex McFarland here. Welcome to Truth for a New Generation Radio. And if you can turn in your Bible to Colossians chapter 2, today I want to talk with you about six things that may lead the world to Armageddon. And I want to begin with a scripture. And what we're going to look at, six realities, six trends that are definitely damaging to America and the world right now.

Six things that have been at play for several decades that may ultimately lead to the end of the world, although I don't think we're quite there yet, but six trends to watch out for. They are at minimum clearing the pathway, heading towards the end of history. But in Colossians 2, 8 through 10, the Word of God says, See to it that no one takes you captive or ensnares you through vain and hollow, deceptive philosophy which depends on human tradition, some translations say the rudiments of the world, rather than on Christ Jesus and his truth.

Why? Because in Christ Jesus dwells all the fullness of the Godhead in bodily form, Colossians 2, 10, and you are complete in Christ. Listen, if you are complete in Christ, conversely, you're incomplete outside of Christ.

And your world view is definitely incomplete if you're believing these philosophies and not the Word of God, the truth of God's Word. You know, several years ago there was a great book by Dave Breese, B-R-E-E-S-E, Seven Men Who Ruled the World from the Grave. It was a great book.

And it came out in 1992, so a long time ago, but still very relevant today. And Breese's premise in that book was basically that there are a number of people like Charles Darwin, Karl Marx, Sigmund Freud, that even though they're dead, their ideas, their philosophies are so influential, it could almost be said that they are ruling the world from the grave. Now, ideas really do have consequences.

R.C. Sproul wrote a book a number of years ago, and I've used it in my worldview classes when I've taught for a number of universities, ideas have consequences that philosophies and suppositions have important and sometimes very detrimental repercussions. Now, in Breese's book about the men that rule the world from the grave, he talks about Charles Darwin, Karl Marx, Julius Wellhausen, or Velhausen, actually, John Dewey, Sigmund Freud, John Maynard Keynes, and Kierkegaard. Now, they believe things that influence the world. That's why Colossians 2 says, you know, don't just blindly, passively believe things, don't just be uncritically compliant. I believe in being a law-abiding citizen, but there are times that we have to critically evaluate things and stand against things, we need to speak up, we need to cast votes.

Sometimes we need to engage in civil disobedience, and we're not to blindly go through life and just with unqualified acceptance take everything in. We are to beware of false prophets. We're to beware of false teachings. These men, very influential in the six realities that I want to point out in just a moment, in one way or another, all of these things are tied to some of these long dead influential people like Charles Darwin.

Darwin denied that God was the creator, and there is no objective reason for creation according to Darwin, no transcendent purpose for your life or my life. So according to the Darwinian evolutionary worldview, if there is any sort of a savior, it's man himself. The only Messiah that humanity should look to is really man in a Darwinistic evolutionary world. What about Karl Marx? Well, Karl Marx believed there's no good in capitalism and the savior is communism.

And my goodness, we're hearing that from Democrat leaders today, from Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez to Nancy Pelosi, certainly Bernie Sanders, Joe Biden, that a free market economy where people are responsible to work a job and pay their bills, no, that's no good. According to Karl Marx, the savior and what all people need are really communism. Now, a name with which you may not be familiar is Julius Wellehausen. He did not believe in the word of God, and he had a theory about the Bible, what we call the Bible is really the writings of man, not the word of God. And since there is no written revelation from God, therefore what is truth is world-centered philosophy.

And oh my goodness, unless you go to an overtly Christian school like Liberty University or Patrick Henry College or Karras Bible College or Houston Baptist, Grove City, I mean there are a number of good Christian schools out there, but unless you go to an overtly Christian university like Karras, you will be taught about the Bible the false ideas of Wellehausen. John Dewey believed there is no propositional truth, and so the educational system that Dewey advocated for is precisely where our public school system is right now, that there is no propositional truth, there is only discussion and only feelings. What about Sigmund Freud? He did not believe in body, soul, and spirit, he believed in id, ego, and superego.

And we are not made in the image of God, but you have got these levels of ego that are driven purely by base, brute, animalistic sexual instinct, because Freud was an evolutionist, and we are not made in the image of God, but our Savior is ongoing therapy. What about John Maynard Keynes? There is no stable economy apart from the government, so we do not look to God to be our provider, we look to the government. And the way to get there, fund government, spend money, go into debt, just put ink on paper, print money, it does not matter.

I think about the old saying, thank goodness we do not get near as much government as we pay for, because we certainly do pay dearly, partly because of this Keynesian view of economy. And then finally, Soren Kierkegaard, he was a philosopher, maybe a Christian, he called himself a Christian, but he definitely was on some shaky ground because he trusted subjective feelings so much. But according to Kierkegaard, there are no objective facts in which to trust, but only feelings. So we have got to pull away, and I want to talk about the philosophies that are operative in the world today that really come from the minds of these men, and six trends that are damaging in the present and might be actually apocalyptic in the future. So we will go over these six things when we come back on Truth For A New Generation radio. You know, Alex has been writing for many years, and one of his classic books is still great today as a basic introduction to the Christian faith. It's called Stand, Core Truths You Must Know for an Unshakeable Faith.

This book will help you help your teens get off the roller coaster of doubt and onto solid ground. You'll read about the six pillars of biblical Christianity. They are, one, inspiration of the Bible, two, the virgin birth, three, the deity of Christ, four, atonement, five, Christ's resurrection, and six, Christ's return. You know, Alex mixes it up with humor and stories he gleaned from decades of working with youth, and encourages teens to build a foundation of faith that will stabilize their lives and help them take a stand for Christ. Available in straightforward, Stand, Core Truths You Must Know for an Unshakeable Faith. Available wherever Christian books are sold. If you're a Christian parent, you of course want to instill a biblical view of life in the hearts of your children. If you're a pastor, you want to offer ministry that draws young families to your church. This is Alex McFarland encouraging you to check out my new book and video curriculum, The 21 Toughest Questions Your Kids Will Ask About Christianity. I interviewed hundreds of children, ages five to twelve, and we address actual questions from actual children, the spiritual issues that are on the minds of your kids. The book and video lessons are great for groups of any size, and was produced with the goal of equipping kids to stand strong for Christ in any situation. The 21 Toughest Questions Your Kids Will Ask, the book, study guide, and video series, you'll find it at AFASTORE.net.

That's AFASTORE.net. A modern theologian said, quote, we all have different ideas about truth, but sometimes what you believe to be truth can be hurtful to someone else and may offend their sensibilities. We need to allow for others to determine what is true for them, end of quote. Well, with that false statement, we welcome you back to Truth For New Generation Radio.

Alex McFarland here, so glad you're listening, and we're talking about six things that are leading the world to Armageddon. And that idea about truth, that if you believe something is factually, objectively true, but it hurts someone else's feelings, we have to subordinate objective truth to the subjective feelings of others, and everyone ultimately must be assumed to create their own truth for themselves. And that's simply false. That might be well-intentioned, but it's horribly misguided because we can't create truth for ourselves. We can discover truth, but we can't determine truth. And so let's talk about these philosophies that are operative in the world today, and I think you'll instantly see what I'm talking about. We today are the victims of, number one, bad science. For one thing, there's this assumption that everything has evolved from the primordial soup and that there's no objective purpose for creation.

Evolution has so skewed 150 years of world education. I'll tell you some more bad science influencing the world today, influencing policies, influencing how you live. Belief that climate changes are induced by humans. This is unproven, it's not true science, but there's the belief in it. It was global warming, and I remember when I was at UNCG 30 years ago, and I was told by different professors that within 20-25 years, the last humans would be dying from global warming unless we give much more power to the government. And yet, now we're experiencing record colds. And there are fluctuations in the climate, but it's not caused by human activity. It's a much bigger world than many of the alarmists give it credit for.

And do you know what? We're often told that Christians and conservatives are anti-science. There's just this myth that those who stand up against conclusions of the left are anti-science. I'm going to come back to that, but you know, over the last hundred years, 65% of the Nobel laureates were Christians.

Isn't that something? We're talking about physics, chemistry, medicine, literature, economics, politics. Only Christians have led out in peace processes.

And I think about people like, well for one thing, Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Mother Teresa, Nelson Mandela, all Nobel winners in the areas of peace, they were Christians. But bad science is influencing policy. And in this COVID thing right now, oh my goodness, if the judicial, congressional, and executive branches were all populated by Democrats, my goodness, nobody would have any more freedom left because under the auspices of alleged science, quote unquote, the answer is to take away freedom and subordinate your constitutional liberties to what they believe is their prescription for the saving of the world. Number two is bad philosophy. What are the bad philosophies? I just gave you the names of some of the bad philosophers, but the idea that truth is subjective. The idea that truth must be politicized. The idea that objectivity is impossible. If I say two plus two is four. If I say that Canada and America are on the North American continents.

If I say that gravity will cause you to hit the earth if you jump off a building. These are not opinions, this is objective truth. But we live in a world where truth is denied and students in classrooms are repeatedly told and pundits on the news are repeatedly told that there is no truth. There's only motive. I mean, I just read an article yesterday about a hundred Hollywood celebrities, 100 famous people that castigated Brett Kavanaugh unfit for the Supreme Court.

Why? There was an accusation that many decades ago he was guilty of sexual harassment. But these same 100 celebrities, when Joe Biden accused with much more credible evidence, he said, no, it didn't happen.

Well, that's enough. We've got bad philosophy that merely because someone believes in morals, the Constitution, God, they necessarily are unfit to be a public figure. We're a victim nowadays of bad sociology.

What am I saying? There are the assumptions that marriage is unimportant. The family is merely a sociological accident, not significant at all. Kids don't need both a dad and a mother. And we know that the state of the family is directly tied to the outcomes of things like education and maturity and stability. Marriage is important. A husband and a wife, a father and a mother, hugely immeasurably significant in the development of a child.

We live under a sociological view called egalitarianism, that all things are equal and necessarily must be equal. And we don't say an actress and an actor. Now just the generic term actor. We don't say miss or mister.

We don't say he or she. And heaven forbid we say heterosexual monogamy. I mean, everything, there's got to be in the eyes of the lost world, there has to be this enforced sameness, even economic egalitarianism. We're told that masculinity is toxic when young men do things that are physical and strenuous and masculine, well that's toxic masculinity. And kids are told in college, and I know because I've interviewed hundreds of college students for my book, Stand Strong in College, what you'll hear your freshman year, that all sex is a form of rape, even consensual marital intimacy. We're told so many things that are detrimental and really all of these things mitigate against. God's designed for men and women, God's designed for marriage, God's designed for family, God's designed for husband-wife relationships.

Bad science, bad philosophy, bad sociology. Now when we come back we're going to talk about three more bad things that we might not be facing the apocalypse today, but they're definitely leading the world incrementally toward that time of Christ's return. And when we come back we're going to talk about three more bad things that are offset by God's truth. Stay tuned, Truth For New Generation Radio is back after this.

And I do want to say a big, big thank you to everybody who's been buying my brand new book, The Assault on America, How to Defend Our Nation Before It's Too Late. I thank you for reading the book.

I encourage you, the audio book is out there on Amazon.com or Barnes and Noble can get the book or at afastore.net. Six realities that may be leading the world to Armageddon. And you know, I do. No man knows the day or the hour, but I do think we're near the time of Christ's return. We need to be ready. We need to be faithful.

We need to be fruitful. I was talking about how right now our government, our society is suffering because of bad science, bad philosophy, bad sociology, being very dismissive of male and female traditional gender roles. And then, you know, dismissal of the importance of the home. But number four, bad economics. OK, socialism, a welfare state, government bailouts that are ballooning the debt into the trillions and legislation packed with pork. The Democrats set forth just a multi, multi trillion dollar addition to the deficit that includes all sorts of socialistic programs. And they want all restaurants to be open, funded by the government.

There was a bill set forth where no renters would pay rent for a decade. This is insanity. Now we are a victim, a horrible victim going deeper in the hole with every passing moment because of bad economics. And it's ungodly and it must stop. There must be some principal leaders that understand that we can't spend what we don't have. And then finally bad politics. Now our founders bled and risked their lives, many died, to give us a representative constitutional Judeo-Christian republic.

We talk about that a lot on this show. But we the people, as Lincoln said in the Gettysburg Address, government of the people, by the people, for the people. But the bad politics of 2020 are an oligarchy.

Not a representative, not the Vox Populi, but a small group of officials that dictate to the people what must be. Not capitalism but socialism. Not objective morality but relativism. We see corruption in the government. And rather than leadership we see opportunism, bad politics. And then finally all of this really the result of what I would call bad religion, secularism, humanism, universalism, liberal Protestantism. So what's the conclusion to all this? Look we are watching a world that has false views about man, morals, and God. Now why does this matter?

It really matters. As conservatives are often accused of being anti-science, Christians, that we reject evolution, we believe in creation, we're told that we're anti-science. Listen to this, in May of 2020 the Washington Post, Jennifer Rubin warned of quote, the unscientific, anti-scientific impulse political theater now in vogue with many Republicans. In other words if you don't believe in abortion, if you don't believe in gay marriage, if you don't believe in transgenderism, if you don't believe in global warming, you're anti-science they would say. April 2020 New York Times wrote in an editorial quote, now listen, the denial of science and critical thinking among religious ultra-conservatives now haunts the American response to the coronavirus crisis. So if you don't believe in a socialist iron-fisted statism, you're anti-science. You know Joe Biden said the coronavirus pandemic was proof of global warming. November 2019 Harvard University professor Naomi Oreskes told TheGuardian.com that now listen, conservatives denials of claims about evolution, about global warming are quote, a political strategy. Now folks this is an example of a fallacy we call reductionism.

To say well your position is nothing but this or that. Now this Harvard professor said quote, it is deeply problematic if the leadership of the US government is rejecting science because it sends a signal to the American people and to business leaders that it is fine to reject science. Hey listen, nobody rejects truth.

I mean we're not rejecting truth but we are rejecting alleged pseudo-science that is used as a political leverage to push God out of our mind and to further control and enslave the lives of people. Folks what we believe is so vitally important. When NASA was working on the Apollo projects, a man was going to the moon, it was imperative that they get their math right on those rocket launches.

Because at the moment of launch, if you're off even by a fraction of a degree, by the time you're hundreds of miles out in space, the final trajectory could be way, way off. A small mistake at the start could result in a huge error ultimately. And see that's where we are.

That's where we are. And we have got to have the courage. If you're a parent you need to teach your children.

If you're a citizen you need to vote. If you're a young person you need to believe God's word and believe what is true. But we have to think critically and we have to be meticulous and very thorough in what we think and believe. And I would say we need to be very prayerful that the Spirit of God would rule and overrule. We need to pray that the Spirit of God would restrain evil. And we need to feed on scripture because God is truth. And Proverbs 1 verse 7 says that the beginning of truth and wisdom is the fear of the Lord. Psalm 22-28 says the kingdom is the Lord's and He rules over the nations. We need to pray for Psalm 22-28 that God would rule over our nation. And so folks, is the world headed to Armageddon? Yes.

When will that be? Only God knows. But I will say this. The seeds of anarchy are planted in our culture even now.

They're beginning to sprout. And we need to sow the light and the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Stand for truth. Be hopeful. Don't be despairing.

Don't be discouraged. But be aware. Christ is coming. And we need to be ready. And we need to help others be ready as well. May God bless you.

May God bless America. Thank you for listening. And I challenge you today. Boldly, courageously, stand for truth. Call us at 877-Yes-God-1.
