The following message from Pastor Greg Laurie is made possible by some special friends of this ministry pastor Greg wanted to see a special word of thanks to the harvest partners who make this ministry possible next time your online check out Pastor Greg's personal blog@blog.greglaurie.com is on the things in life don't make sense to us, but we need to remember everything in life is preparation for something. Sometimes the pain of life can overwhelm Pastor Greg Laurie helps us draw strength from a more eternal perspective, God has a bigger plan. So maybe there's something you're disappointed by right. The Lord did not open the door you want to open your upset about it but he was preparing you for something else and our lives should say our lives don't always go according to hardware God knows what is coming. He knows our particular disappointment. He knows her strengths and limitations, and he has a plan handcrafted for each of our lives today on a new beginning. Pastor Greg Laurie helps us learn to recognize God and say yes to the Lord's calling the most rewarding pathway you when I know the look that I will get a look at some of the excuses that he offered up to the Lord as a part of our series were doing on his life that were calling water fire stone know we love love Moses was running for his life. Why he was the Prince of Egypt.

He was being groomed to be the next Pharaoh, but he chose to suffer affliction with the people of God rather than to enjoy this pleasures of sin for a season and he decided to take matters into his own hands. So he went out of the sauna. Egyptian taskmaster cruelly treating a Hebrew slave that he thought I've had enough of this in the Bible says he looked this way in the look that way, and he killed the Egyptian and now he's running Moses probably thought I'm done. I have nothing left to say.

I ruined my life. I ruined my testimony and that's it. Well, that wasn't it. Because God was going to turn this mess into a message. So now we come to the second half of the life of Moses as the Lord commissioned him to lead the Israelites out of the bondage of Pharaoh, and much to our surprise, instead of jumping at the opportunity. Moses turns into a human excuses machine. Let's read about it. Exodus 3, verse one. One day Moses was tending the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian. He went down deep into the wilderness near Sinai, the mountain of God, he would return there. Later Whitney x-ray received the 10 Commandments. Suddenly, the angel of the Lord appeared to him as a blazing fire in the bush. Moses was amazed because the bush was engulfed in flames, but it didn't burn up.

Moses said to himself. Amazing. Why is in this post burning up. I must go over to see it and when the Lord saw that he had caught Moses's attention.

God called to him from the bus. Moses. Moses here I am.

Moses replied God told him don't come any closer, take up your sandals, for you are standing on holy ground. What a powerful passive sentence so Moses is then told by the Lord, the God of seeing the suffering of the Jewish people.

He had heard their cries and Moses new job was not tending sheep. It was delivering people and he was going to go back to Egypt and demand the release of the Jews in 40 years of gone by Moses and hasn't heard a peep from heaven.

All of a sudden this you know if you would say to me tonight Greg it's been a long time since I've heard from the Lord. I might say to you is there any unconfessed sin in your life because the Bible says God speaking.

My ear is not heavy, that it can't hear my arm is not short that it cannot save what your sins have separated you from me if you want to come up your connection with God. Leave your sin unconfessed now I didn't say cut up your relationship with God. But you come up your connection and the way to reestablish that connection is to ask the Lord to forgive you but in the case of Moses here.

This is not because of unconfessed sin. This was all timing, God was preparing him.

He did not realize about for 40 years tending, though she God was showing him some things that would help them later. Don't forget he's been schooled in the court of Pharaoh.

He schooled in mathematics he schooled in music is golden Egyptian art and literature. Many schooled in military tactics.

He knows a lot of stuff while of latent easements golden watching wayward sheep. Sheep that go astray always have some experience with that in the days ahead with the Israelites with the Lord was preparing him. Sometimes we go through things in life that don't make sense to us, but we need to remember whatever you're going through is preparing you for something else. Chuck Smith once told me everything in life is preparation for something else. So whatever you're going through right now you think this doesn't fit any narrative. This is not logical. In fact, it seemed quite illogical. The Lord is preparing you, just as he was preparing Moses. Let's consider this bush for just a moment. It was a burning bush. It's not unusual to see a bush catch on fire like a tumbleweed but it doesn't keep burning soap for a bush to burn perpetually is unusual. So basically was an ordinary bush doing an extraordinary thing. It was something out of the ordinary that God uses to get Moses attention and then the Lord spoke. Here's what I discovered in life as a Christian when something out of the ordinary happens.

Sometimes it's the Lord's way of saying pay attention what may seem to you like a coincidence me in reality be Providence. What you may perceive is an interruption may be an intervention that makes sense. So maybe your driving omen and you got a flat tire and you want to go to a gas station. All this is such a hassle. I hate that that way.

Just hold on now that's an interruption in your normal schedule that it ever occur to you that God might put someone in your path. You need to talk to that little aberration that little change in your normal schedule might be something sent by the Lord. Sometimes life does not go the way that we plan our dreams are not realized but we need to remember that disappointment can sometimes become God's appointment so maybe there's something you're disappointed by right now. The Lord did not open the door you wanted him to open the Lord did not allow you to do that thing you wanted to do and you're upset about it but he was preparing you for something else. The other message here is that it was an ordinary bush that God touched was not some supernatural bush that descended from heaven and it's just a reminder that God is extraordinary thing to ordinary people, ordinary people can do extraordinary things when they're touched by the Lord and by the way, this bush is not unlike Moses at this stage of his life. He is not the young prince of Egypt now is while he's an older dude. His skin is whether intent from the blazing sun these 80, so this reminds us that God has a plan for every stage of our life serving God is not only for young people and for all people. It's for young people, middle-age people, old people, all people who think their young people. Young people who think your old people doesn't matter it's for all of it. God wants to use that you know there's nothing sadder than a person who can age gracefully in a woman whose older instead of being a virtuous godly woman of virtue. She's a cougar, that's just frightening. Just a rule of some if you're over 50, you just can't shop at forever 21 anymore, just thought There to start carting people at the door to the holy 150 get out forever 21. Not forever 50s now just go to another store for you somewhere. I think one of the reasons young people are so willing to be used by the Lord is because their flux. You know when you're young you like stuff happened you want to do things. I was really reminded of this when I went to the amusement park with a Levi Lesko in his daughter into my grandkids and they just wanted to go on right after right after right and I was walking down Main Street and I saw a rocking chair and the ports are you known them talking about some guy was in it that I thought I'd like to be sitting in that chair right now because I just ate a churl in a corn dog and I want to take a nap right so near you and was given a try. Let's do that. Sense is that it's so much fun you get old really gay don't want to do so much when you're older you like routine to go to the same restaurant and you sit in the same seat at the same table when you order the same thing you know you're older when happy hours. A nap right that that's happy hour for you.

Listen, you who are older get out of your La-Z-Boy and get to work for God's kingdom is God still wants to use you applied no older people come on, by the way, I'm an older person. I'm 66 years old. I am officially old. I am a senior citizen and I take all the discount but I'm not ready for decomposition. This setting quite yet. I have a few things I want to do for the kingdom of God first and I think we all should want to be serving the Lord, because you have so much offer.

I think some of the young people today could use godly older folks mentoring them because so many kids are coming from broken families today. They never know what it's like to have a family dinner know what a family meal even looks like they don't know what it's like to have a mom and a dad in prayer in the Bible study in an do this and don't do that in and here you are, you have all of that wisdom that you've acquired over all these years find a younger person take them under your wing mentor them, love them, establish them, older folks that there for me when I was young and made a great difference in my life are Greg Laurie will have the second half of his message in just a moment, everybody Greg Laurie here inviting you to join me every weekend for what we call Harvest at Home. It's a church service. It's a worship service. It's a Bible study and its wherever you wanted to be in your home in your car sitting on a beach walking down the street watching it on your phone wherever you are taking with you and be ministered to every weekend. Join us Harvest at Home@harvest.org were studying the life of Moses today and pastor Greg's new series water fire stone were considering the excuses Moses offered when it came time to be used of God must continue. So here's Moses. He's 80 years old is a good you know I'm over the hill. God says no. You're just getting started.

I got a new heel for you and it's a big one body, but unbeknownst to you.

I've been prepping you. I've been getting you ready I've been equipping you and then listen to what the Lord says in Exodus 36 I am the God of your father the God of Abraham, Isaac and the God of Jacob.

I love that Abraham, Isaac and Jacob take those names. We think of them with great respect.

PG arcs of the bank, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob as they were used by God but Abraham was as godly as they come at some serious lapses of fate. Isaac his son was biased or did not listen to the Lord Jacob's mistakes in both laws are legendary, yet they were mightily used by the Lord to.

Here's what I think God is saying Moses, I am the God of men who fail I am the God of people who need second chances I am the God of ordinary men and women who have accomplished some extraordinary thing and it's really what the Lord is saying when he says on the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. So the Lord is saying the Moses verse seven I know my people are suffering.

The Lord said, I have seen the oppression of my people are in Egypt. I've heard their cry because of their taskmasters.

I know their sorrows. I know what's going on Moses. I'd surely seen.

I've heard I know and you know what God knows that about you to. If you're suffering you're going through hardship you're crying out to him don't think that heaven is not hearing your prayers, your prayers are heard by God and he'll answer them in his timing. Hebrews 415.

Speaking of Jesus, as this high priest of ours understands our weaknesses.

For he faced all of the same temptations that we do yet he was without sin.

So God is saying Moses. I have come to deliver these people and guess what buddy you demand your my man Ivan get you ready for this and you are ready to go.

So let's look at one of Moses excuses in them will stop in this message. Excuse number one in Exodus 311. I am not deserving to be used by God. Moses effectively says I'm not deserving to be used by God. Verse 11 of Exodus 3: my to appear before Pharaoh. Moses asked God how can you expect me to lead the Israelites out of Egypt I know what Moses did have a point. If you were God, which you would pick Moses. I mean come on, let's get real. He was a has-been of failure many ways. He was an embarrassment, but it seems that God always goes out of his way to pick the most unlikely candidates to do the most unlikely things I mean think about it, the patterns there in the Bible. Jonah the guys effectively are racist. He hates the Ninevites he wants nothing to do with them.

So God says now it should go over there and preach of the people why Jonah get somebody else know I said I would use that guy that doesn't think he would ever do this thing.

To do this thing so I'll get the glory about Gideon getting with the manual effectively kid from his own shadow angel comes to his is a giddy and mighty men of valor. The Lord is with you getting with her like we do is her mother getting in here because I am not a mighty men of valor case you didn't notice, I'm hiding right now behind this wall so my enemies, the Midianites don't see me all know I you are your Gideon, the mighty men of valor.

Why, because God does not see us for what we are. He sees us for what we can become so years old. Moses 80 years old, called a face-off with one of the mightiest kings in the world again. The Lord chooses unlikely people so he can get the glory. First Corinthians 127 says God deliberately chose those things.

The world considers bullish in order to shame. Those who think they are wise and those were powerless to shame those who are powerful look. God can use you.

God will use you. The question is where you make yourself available.

As I've often said God is not looking for ability.

He's looking for availability. God does not call the qualified, he qualifies the call to all the need for us to do is to say, here I am Lord, send me. You know, God is bigger than whatever problem you're facing right now. Maybe you appeared so I could never be used by the Lord and maybe there's some problem that's haunting you and if you don't you you can ever overcome this problem but just remember the story of David when he faced off with the 9'6" mountain of human muscle Goliath in the Valley of the law. He went there and he saw that big old guy and he charged them and said I come to you now in the name of the Lord in the defeated his giant and whatever your fears are as to why God would never use you. You can dispel those right now because God is bigger than your peers. He's bigger than your problems and he wants to use you and he wants to use me.

Maybe the devil would whisper in your ear not always have control of you. Your and you're never going to be used by God, you're a failure and you can just say the same. You know what, go to hell one time you could say that it's fully legit.

I met you listen you anymore.

I'm not going to give you any more time you get one more day when you're in control of my life because I want to do what God wants Greg Laurie strong encouragement today about resisting our adversary and embracing the Lord and his plan for our lives.
