The Bible teaches that haughtiness and pride can lead to destruction and a haughty spirit, while humility is over success and true wealth is character. God hates pride because it tries to take the glory for something that we could not have done without him. To go from a haughty spirit to a humble spirit, one must ask the Holy Spirit to change their fundamental beliefs about who they are and what they can do, meditate on scripture, and focus their attention and interest on others and speak less of themselves.
