The original concept of the church is an assembly of people called out separately from the rest of the community, with the goal of assembling regularly and confessing Jesus Christ as their Lord. Jesus built his church on the confession of Peter that he is the Messiah, not on Peter himself, but on the truth of Jesus' identity.
