God uses a series of parables and allegories in the book of Ezekiel to expose Israel's true spiritual condition and the need for a spiritual solution to a spiritual problem. Through the story of an eagle and a cedar tree, God reveals the futility of seeking solutions to problems in the wrong places and the importance of seeing sin for what it truly is. God's solution is to plant a new vine, Jesus Christ, who gives refuge to all who make him their dwelling place and brings down those who are too highly exalted.
