The prophet Isaiah has a profound encounter with the transcendent God, experiencing awe, wonder, and worship. He sees the Lord sitting on a throne, surrounded by holy angels, and hears the seraphim crying out in holy worship. Isaiah feels the intensity of God's presence and is overcome with a sense of his own sinfulness and unworthiness. He receives unmerited mercy, forgiveness, and a recommissioning for service, which fuels his willingness to serve God.
