Caitlin Clark to turn pro after this season l NFL combine wackiness is already underway l Dan Orlovsky makes bold proclamation

Dana Carvey and David Spade here. You might know our podcast, Fly on the Wall, featuring guests from across the entertainment industry. We decided to do a spinoff called Superfly, and it's fun. It's just two of us riffing on current events, pop culture, catching up, impressions. Joe, Trump's trying to be a dictator. Yeah, he says, you know, bump on the tater tots. Joe, no.

Listen to and follow Superfly on the Odyssey app or wherever you get your podcast. When the whole family comes together to watch the game, nobody wants to miss a second of the action to run to the grocery store. With Instacart, you can get all your weekly groceries in as fast as an hour.

Additional terms apply. It is the J.R. Sportbree show here with you on CBS Sports Radio Radio. I'm coming to you live from New York City. Opposite of me is super producer and host Ryan Hickey. And yeah, we're being joined by you, everybody locked in and listening all over North America. Thank you so much for tuning in to the show. This is when we get started every single weekday at 6 p.m. Eastern, 3 p.m. Pacific. You can always listen on the free Odyssey app, your local CBS Sports Radio affiliate. Sirius XM Channel 158 and everybody with a smart speaker.

All you got to do is ask it to play CBS Sports Radio. It's a beautiful Thursday. Maybe it's not a beautiful Thursday where you are outside.

Maybe a day has been crap, but I'm gonna make sure it's beautiful. The heck is Siri listening? Shut up, Siri.

Hickey, this is what happened when I come into the studio in New York. Like things are listening to me. Everyone's always listening. Everything.

Everything. Listen, phone, laptop, always always wired. How many cameras in this room that I'm sitting in right is like eight cameras in here. They're listening to cameras are listening.

Well, everything I say is recorded right now, so I guess I'm screwed either way. Well, Hickey, first of all, it's good to be here in New York City. Jared, it's good to see you in person. This is a lot of fun. What a treat. This is our first show working with each other in person.

I know it's been what, two months now? This is this is good. Right. And we got it.

We got it. We're doing it on an extra day. Today is February twenty ninth. It's a leap year.

This will not happen for what, another four years. That's right. This is really like memorable. I heard that there's some like discounts for today.

Like you get a I think Burger King's giving away a burger. So I don't know. Wow. Maybe I'm telling lies. This is why Google exists. Maybe I'm sharing inaccurate information. Don't hold me to it.

Use Google. But there are some things that have been given out in the studio is burning the hell up in here. What was what is this hell? What are we doing in here? I'm trying to smoke me out.

I just sat down. Yeah. Being a sweatshirt, you want to go down and go down for you? Oh yeah. I'll get is it in here? Yes.

Oh yeah. I'll get to it, man, because I'm going to pass out. Shout outs to Robin Lundberg, who just came through holding it down for Zach Gelb. I'm gonna have to talk to Robin later about he was wearing a sweatshirt.

It's fine. Anyway, we got a lot to get into right before I stepped into the building. I saw that Kaitlyn Clark is going to go into the WNBA.

I can't remember the last time of let me watch my words here. I can't remember the last time a female basketball player got this much attention, which I find to be beautiful. Wonderful. We also know that the NFL combine is going on out in Indianapolis. We got a bunch of fat guys running around and people are excited about the fat guys running around. And it's a lot of fun. Maybe some of these fat guys running around will get themselves a new job or higher paying job.

And so congratulations and good luck to them. Antonio Pierce has started to talk about what type of quarterback he wants running his team. If I'm Aiden O'Connell, I don't want anything to do with that. LeBron James is just continuing to just break records. He's leading comebacks. He's about to be the only player in NBA history to have 40,000 points. That is coming.

That is happening sooner than later. Gerard Mayo. He's having to share to everybody that he's not taking a massive dump on Bill Belichick. Why does he have to do that? I have no idea. The college football playoff. Man, it's about to change again.

We kind of gave you a teaser about this a few weeks ago. Joel Embiid, he says, well, he plans on coming back. And not only does Joel Embiid plan to come back for the Philadelphia 76ers, Joel Embiid says, I'm going to play for Team USA, too. Hickey, does he have a body double?

I don't know. Does he got a twin brother somewhere? I don't know if you want to call it delusion, but I like where his head's at, at least wanting to play more basketball. Joel Embiid can't make it through an NBA season and he's going to play more back. He wants let me say once he wants to play more basketball for Team USA.

What type of world is this? Help the Sixers first. And then if you get through the season rest, that's what the world needs. Damian Lillard. He says he's getting too much rest in the great city of Milwaukee. Jerry Jones, apparently he hasn't been getting rest. There's a woman who says Jerry Jones is her daddy. No, this is still CBS Sports Radio. This is not TMZ. This is not Maury Povich. But Jerry Jones is in the news for reasons that nobody ever wants to be in the news. You think Jerry will go on Maury to do the paternity test? Is that is that going to happen? Maybe Cowboys like TV create a channel for it. You know, the opportunity. He can't take it to Maury. I thought Maury Povich was the official.

You are not the father guy. I guess. Yeah, I guess you're right. Yeah. Jerry Jones might have a I guess a twenty five thirty year old kid out here. How about that?

Anyway, in other news, McColl Hartman is still a snitching rat. And then this is an interesting day in history because this day only comes around every four years. And so we will be sharing with you later on in the show a unique occurrence that has only happened. I don't know how well we'll get to it this day in history. Certainly a unique one.

February twenty ninth. Yeah. Don't get used to saying that too often. Anyway, if you want to communicate during the course of the show, you want to be a part of the show. You can do that to the phone numbers. Eight five five two one two four CBS.

That's eight five five two one two four CBS. I'm everywhere on the Internet. I'm on social media. I'm all these places.

I am at J.R. sport brief that is at J.R. sport brief everywhere that social media something exists. Let's get this out of the way. Since the news just broke, I would say let's give this woman a round of applause.

But it sounds like it would be demeaning. So we will not. Congratulations to Caitlin Clark. She's going pro. Caitlin Clark is going to the WNBA. Caitlin Clark is leaving these schmucks behind in college that she abuses on a nightly basis. Just last night, Caitlin Clark had thirty three points versus Minnesota, Iowa. Her hometown school, home state school smacked them one oh eight to sixty.

I guess she had enough of the beatdowns. OK, this woman, Caitlin Clark, has thirty six hundred and fifty points in the NCA. We all know there was a hole to do when she passed Kelsey Plum on February 15th, the day after Valentine's Day, that gave her the most points ever scored by a woman in NCAA history. And then people continue to remind us that, you know, before the NCAA regulated women's college basketball, there was another woman who also had a lot of points. Her name was Lynette Woodard, and she ended up breaking her record as well.

So she's just breaking everything. And that's what she's expected to do in the WNBA. Because without a shadow of a doubt, this woman, Caitlin Clark, who just turned 22 years old in January last month.

I'm only going to be able to say last month for another couple of hours. She turned 22 last month. She's going to end up on the Indiana Fever.

The Indiana Fever. They haven't been to the playoffs in the WNBA since 2016. She should be paired up with the Leah Boston. And I guess somehow, some way, Caitlin Clark will go to the WNBA and just whoop everybody's ass.

That's the expectation on the college ranks right now. This season, Caitlin Clark is putting up NBA numbers in a sport that the ladies don't necessarily do half of this. For this season, she's dropping 32 points a game and has nine assists. She is the team. She is the squad. Is it going to be that way in the WNBA?

Probably not. But she's going to go out there with a target on her back. But it looks like she is ready to grab the bull by the horns. Aaliyah Boston waiting for her to get into the WNBA. She talked about Caitlin Clark and what she's doing. And this is what she told the Big Ten Network.

Listen to this. You are looking at basketball at such a high level right now. There are so many eyes, especially on the game of women's basketball. It continues to elevate. And so Caitlin's having a really special season, a really special career with basketball. And it's great to appreciate that you look at it because not everyone can do that.

Yes, it was different times. And I understand there wasn't a three point line, but that doesn't matter. They're both putting up crazy numbers.

Crazy numbers. Everybody. Doesn't matter if it's Cheryl Miller, Caitlin Clark, Aaliyah Boston. I mean, I can think about legend Cheryl Swoopes.

I can't recall. And maybe it's because of the time and the era that we live in. Let's let's really think about this. The NFL con bond is going on right the hell now. Outside of Caleb Williams. Just in college sports, flat and period. I would even say outside of, you know, even Andrew Reese.

Nobody's thinking about LSU right now. Is Caitlin Clark not the biggest name in college sports? It's Caleb Williams and it's Caitlin Clark.

And that's it. Who is in the middle? You got a man playing football. You got a woman playing basketball. And I say this without any any thought.

Well, I say it with thought, without having to deeply think. Who's the most famous college basketball player on the male side? Who is it?

Head and shoulders above everybody. Who is it? There's no Zion Williamson coming out right now. Who is it? You think about this draft class is probably going to be dominated again by people who are not American.

Guys you've never heard of. It'll be. Oh, my God. The Washington Wizards select a guy whose last name ends in itch.

Like this is what we're looking forward to. And so Caitlin Clark got basketball on lock on the college side right now. This is a woman where about 50 to 55000 people showed up to see her play basketball at home in Iowa in a stadium. I'm gonna say something that's a jerk like right now. Sorry.

Not sorry. That's probably the whole state of Iowa. OK. Everybody showed up just to see her. And I hope she helps move things along in the WNBA. The league deserves it. Hickey, who's the biggest star in the WNBA right now? Who is it?

Is it debatable? Who is it? Is it Brandon Stewart?

There you go. And I don't think so now. Who is it? I don't know. I don't think that's the point.

Sabrina, you'd ask him. Well, maybe because of a couple of weeks ago with Steph Curry. There is nobody right. Asia is Asia Wilson. I'm trying to think if we had to run around asking just sports fans and even including the general. If I asked the general public, hey, who's the most famous basketball player playing right now? People go LeBron and Steph Curry. And then that's it. OK, you can think about everybody else.

LeBron and Steph Curry. Most people know him. Right.

In the NFL, there used to be some people still might say Tom Brady, but people, I think, start to know who Patrick Mahomes is. That's the guy. The WNBA, we know, obviously, isn't one of the major leagues.

It's trying to work its way there. They don't have that person. They don't have that that woman. And I don't know if it's going to be Kaitlyn Clark. She's in State Farm commercials.

She's in Nike commercials. She's everywhere. I don't know if she's reached that level yet and she can. I don't know if Angel Reese has the temperament to be there. She can be pretty combative and defensive.

Nobody wants to, you know, embrace someone who's always just defending themselves. Kaitlyn Clark can grab the bull by the horns and be it. Let's see if she helps Iowa here in March Madness. She's about to pass pistol Pete Maravich for the most points ever scored by anyone, man or woman. In college basketball, she only needs 17 more points. Her last home game this weekend. We got tickets going from anywhere for a college game.

This is a college game. Some of her teammates will be working at State Farm next year. OK, they are spending between four hundred to four thousand dollars to see her final college game. I ain't spending that much money to watch nobody, but they want to spend this money to see her.

To say that they're in the room to soak in the atmosphere. Me, I don't care. My television is good enough. Congratulations to Kaitlyn Clark. Seventeen points to tie pistol Pete.

Eighteen to go ahead and say I got more points than anybody who ever played college basketball. That's a big deal. Hopefully she can translate over into the WNBA.

Fingers crossed. WNBA deserves it. It's the J.R. Sportbree show here with you on CBS Sports Radio eight five five two one two four CBS.

That's eight five five two one two four CBS. Hey, a big up to Kaitlyn Clark. Much love to college basketball on the women's side. A whole lot of love to women's athletics.

I'll stop there. On the other side of the break, we'll continue talking about prospects. Yes, Kaitlyn Clark might still be a prospect. She'll be the number one overall pick. We're going to discuss the draft when we come back in the combine and quarterbacks. And we got people saying wild things that Caleb Williams shouldn't be number one overall. We got LeBron.

He's also getting ready to destroy more records. It's just a lot of wild things going on. And we got you covered. You're locked in to the J.R. Sportbree show here on CBS Sports Radio.

Don't move. When the whole family comes together to watch the game, nobody wants to miss a second of the action to run to the grocery store. With Instacart, you can get all your weekly groceries in as fast as an hour.

Less time shopping means more game time. Let's go visit instacart dot com to get free delivery on your first three orders. Offer valid for a limited time.

Ten dollar minimum per order. Additional terms apply. Hey, Rob Bradford here. I have set out on a mission with my good friends at FanDuel to prove what I have known for some time. Baseball isn't boring. Now I have a daily podcast to prove it with some of the most notable people in the baseball world. Screaming baseball isn't boring for the mountaintops or at least agreeing to come on our show.

Players, managers, GMs and yes, even the commissioner of baseball, Rob Manfred. It has been a constant wave of baseball's both powerful voices. So join the revolution. Subscribe and soak in.

Baseball isn't boring. Listen on your Odyssey app or wherever you get your podcast. You'll be glad you did. You're listening to the J.R. sport brief on CBS Sports Radio. It's the J.R. sport show here with you on CBS Sports Radio. It's good to be in New York.

I love New York. I was reminded how dirty it is. Filthy. You know, I come back. I don't act fancy when I come back. I get on the subway. Not fancy.

No fancy over here. Like, hey, what is this? This is bird poop. I'm like, what is this that I'm stepping over? Who is this that I'm stepping over?

You know, what? What substance is this person on right now? This is what is this in the air? I'm breathing it in.

I'm like, what is this? It's good to be back in New York. I love it. Anyway, congratulations to Caitlin Clark. Going to be heading to the WNBA, which is going to be a downgrade for her. She's foregoing this extra covid year that she basically received. So I got I've had enough of beating people up in college. I need some real competition. And it'll be interesting to see what she does at the professional level. And we'll talk more about Caitlin Clark in the show. What we also know is going on in Indianapolis, as I'm surrounded by screens right now, is that the NFL combine is going down in Indianapolis.

And so right now, this minute, this second, earlier today, actually. We had the big guys running around. The big guys, the defensive linemen, the linebackers were they were running. And they were jumping and they were pressing stuff like barbells and dumbbells and bench pressing things. People want to see how big they are, how strong they are, how fast they are. It's actually very embarrassing.

I know, Hickey, we talked about this the other day. Is it embarrassing that a 300 plus pound man is like faster than me? Does that make sense?

No, it does not make sense. Yes, it's embarrassing. And yes, that's the state of the NFL.

And also, glad why we're not offensive players getting tackled by these freaks. Yeah. Like how how are you like I can you ever saw somebody up in this? I used to do this in third grade. Size them up in a school yard and go, oh, I'm faster than that guy.

That guy can't beat me in a race. And I don't know, at some point, as the human body matures and gets older, some of us become normal humans and some of us become horses. It's just it makes no sense. And so today, the defensive tackles the linemen, the linebackers were in action. And it wasn't just what took place on the field. These guys said some like wild things. I know we've had the conversation about some of these questions that they get asked.

You know, what did your mother do growing up? What type of job interview question is that? And it just it's not just the coaches. For whatever reason, we're finding out how quirky some of these prospects are. They are volunteering information that makes me go, well, why would you share that? Because now you sound dumb. And maybe that's what the coaches want. Maybe the coaches want you to be a complete idiot to the world and be a savant when it comes down to football.

Take, for instance, this guy. Tyler Owens, defensive back. For Texas Tech, he spoke to the media today. I'm not an astrologer. I don't know anything about astrology, astronomy.

I know anatomy. But Tyler Owens sat in front of the media and he started to talk about the sun, the moon, the stars and the shape of the earth. I don't believe in space.

I'm like, you know, I think, like, what led you to that point? Well, like, I really believe like, you know, like, you know, I started seeing, like, flat earth. Did he say it from outer space? What did this man say? He doesn't believe in space.

Is that what he said? Or planets. Doesn't think that planets exist. And that the flat earthers make some very valid points. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Maybe I heard it in the background. Did he did he blame, like, religion or something on that? He mentioned religion. I'm not sure that has to do with space, but he did mention that. I thought I mean, whether or not you believe in a Bible, let's say, for instance, he believes in the Bible.

Let's go on that one. Right. At the beginning of the Bible. Isn't it something about God created the sun, the moon, the stars, and then he rested in that in there?

Day seven, he rested. Yes. I don't know that guy's religion, so I'm not going to speak for him or whatever. Has he looked outside? Did he get a telescope when he was in third grade? How do you not? I don't know.

People can believe whatever they want to. This man is going to be a great football player. This guy was this guy's name. Tyler Owens. Draft him as the first defensive back off the board. He doesn't know anything. He knows about press coverage and nickel and dime. Don't ask this man to look at a map. Don't ask him about Earth. Ask that man about football.

He's going to be a damn good football player. And this is what they want. Maybe maybe he's fooling us all, Hickey.

Maybe this was intentional. So every draft evaluator and scout could go, oh, this guy, he don't know nothing. He knows football. Let's take him. I think he's in the wrong sport. Go to the NBA draft. You can get drafted right there by the Mavericks to be teammates with Kyrie.

You talk about a one two punch. Is Kyrie disavowed? What is Kyrie disavowed? Oh, he's a Flat Earth guy. Oh, I forgot about that. The COVID, COVID, you know, kind of took that over. But you're correct. For years, that was his like first wacky.

I think that was the first like wacky thing he said where it's like, huh? And obviously these guys don't don't see the horizon and the curvature. They've never stood on like a beach and like looked over.

No, no. How the tides work with the moon. You can see different planets, different times of the year. Yeah.

I don't get it. You can you you can look outside on a you know, I don't know. On a dark night, depending on the time of year, it may be tough to see.

Yeah. How do you not believe in? You can look outside and see the stars. Where are the stars? What do they like?

Where do they exist then? So we can have. I want to ask.

Somebody should ask them. So wait a minute. Do you see the stars?

So you see the stars, but you don't believe in other planets. Guys, I mean, great football player. Excellent football player.

Time prospect. Guess credit to whoever makes these videos. They got to be somewhat convincing on YouTube.

Yeah, I'm assuming or whoever talks to they got some sort of brainwashing power. This stuff isn't in my my search history. My search history is just his sports.

And that's about it. Tyler Owens. This man is going to be the best defensive back in the NFL.

Especially in particularly in this draft. And he's not the only guy who said wild things. It was a guy talking about pigeons.

And he's like, you've never seen a baby pigeon in your life. They're just these dudes are just off the chain. And so I guess the process, the thought process is, if he says something stupid, he is worth us drafting. And it's not just, I guess, talent evaluators who are buzzing over some of this talent. I mean, on the NFL Network, which is basically broadcasting the NFL combine just all day and all night ad nauseam. Rich Eisen and Daniel Jeremiah, they were watching a gigantic man in Brandon Fisk.

They were watching him run the 40 yard dash and they love watching his big man run. Nice. He's moving. One, six, eight. Oh, yeah.

Oh, 70. Hey, now, I think he knew he did well. I think he said, oh, yeah.

As he crossed the finish, didn't he? Did I hear that problem was strong. Oh, yeah. Let's hear it. Oh, yeah. Doo, doo, bam, bam, doo, doo, doo, bam, bam. Oh, they were excited.

Oh, it listen. Braden Fisk is six, five, 300 pounds. He I felt like I was watching golf. That didn't sound like NFL football. That didn't sound like combine. Fisk basically jumped out of the blocks.

I heard a massive grunt and then I heard Rich Eisen and Daniel Jeremiah basically love the man. And so, look, if you don't got nothing better to do throughout the course of the day, turn on the NFL combine. You'll find out how dumb some of the players are and then you'll see what or which of the announcers, I don't know, love the big men running. It's not that tough.

Not that difficult. Eight five five two one two four CBS. That's eight five five two one two four CBS. I guess we're talking about prospect. We talked about Caitlin Clark. Talked about the big men running. We've learned that there's an NFL prospect who doesn't believe in the other planets.

I guess Earth is just floating around out here by itself. When we come back from break, we got a guy who also doesn't believe that Caleb Williams should be selected. Number one overall. I'm going to tell you who it is. You can hear from him and then you can figure out how stupid he might be.

Nothing will match up with a guy who doesn't believe in planets. He he takes the cake. It's the J.R. sport re show here with you on CBS Sports Radio. When something happens to your car, you might say. But what you really need to say is something that can actually help. Like a good neighbor. State Farm is there. Just like that State Farm is there to help you file your claim right on the State Farm mobile app. So just remember, like a good neighbor, State Farm is there.

State Farm, Bloomington, Illinois. You're listening to the J.R. sport brief on CBS Sports Radio. Right before we went to break, we talked about some of these these NFL prospects at the combine.

They're starting off by letting everybody know how much they know about football, but not about other things. One guy doesn't believe in the planets. I'm like, brother, you got a telescope.

You can look outside. Another guy's like, hey, baby pigeons don't exist. I think he was joking. He's like, have you ever seen a baby pigeon? Good point.

Never seen a baby pigeon. Interesting, interesting stuff here. We also talked about Kaitlyn Clark. Kaitlyn Clark on her way to the WNBA in a couple of months.

Number one overall pick. She said she's leaving college. I mean, she can make more money in college by the time she gets the WNBA. No more charter flights. Kaitlyn Clark is going to have to just, you know, fly commercial like the rest of us. Oh, what a terrible world that she's living in.

Sad, pitiful. But we all know that as we get to the NFL draft and the NFL combine, the biggest name is Caleb Williams. He's been talked about all week long. Justin Fields doesn't want to hear about him. The city of Chicago was torn as to whether or not they should hold on to Fields or whether or not they should go the other direction and draft Caleb.

And consensus says consensus outside of Chicago. Pretty much lets you know that Caleb Williams is going number one. But there is a guy on ESPN, no less, who believes that Caleb Williams is not the dude. I don't know how much more he needs to accomplish if he needs to pick up another Heisman. I don't know if he needs to throw for another, I don't know, almost 4000 yards. People are comparing this dude to the to Patrick Mahomes, that he's the next Patrick Mahomes. To me, is that doing too much?

Oh, hell yeah, that's doing too much. But that's where they have him slotted right now. But Dan Orlovsky of ESPN sat on television this morning and he decided to be different. He doesn't believe that Caleb Williams should go number one overall. And that's fine.

That's his prerogative. I just didn't understand the full reasoning. Listen to Orlovsky from earlier today. If I were the Chicago Bears right now, I would take Jayden Daniels out of LSU. That is not a knock on Caleb Williams. That is a plus in Jayden Daniels. I think number one, when you watch all these guys play the best thrower, the best guy against man coverage, ball placement wise, is Jayden Daniels. Number two, when we're talking about explosive play, like guys who have to throw the ball downfield, what does it look like?

Jayden Daniels throws the ball best downfield. And then number three, who's got the best pocket piece? When I say piece, it's P-E-A-C-E. All these guys are athletic.

It's no longer like this plus. Every one of these guys has that attribute. The patience and the peace within the pocket, he's the best at. Candidly, I think when it comes to what guy had the best game, none of these guys' games compare to Jayden Daniels against Florida. If you just watch that player versus the University of Florida, you would go, that's the best player in college football. And he's going to be the guy that transfers the best into the NFL. Caleb Williams is fantastic.

I think Jayden Daniels is better. Well, that's fine. That's his prerogative.

It is. And say what he wants to say and back it up. I just don't think we've seen enough out of Jayden Daniels to say this. We've seen two years, two years of Caleb Williams at a minimum out there lighting it up.

Forty five hundred yards, forty two touchdowns, five interceptions. Like that's what Caleb Williams did two seasons ago. That's similar to what Jayden Daniels just did and got himself a Heisman. And then to return, Caleb Williams on a worse team, still went out there and gave you thirty six hundred yards, thirty touchdowns to five interceptions on a team that was worse.

Meanwhile, Jayden Daniels was still trying to figure this out. Caleb Williams was lighting it up and Jayden Daniels, he was still at Arizona State. Like he woke up one day and all of a sudden, boom, he's he's one of the best. He's he won the Heisman. Now, I know Dan Orlovsky played in the NFL. This man has forgotten and experienced more football than I ever had in my life. I have never, ever been tackled in my life. In his life, it was his job to get tackled and maybe playing for the Lions will do that to you. This guy's been power driven into the field more than I've ever experienced pain in my life. And maybe that's why he's saying such a wild thing like this.

I'm supposed to believe Dan Orlovsky. This is the same man who a couple of weeks ago was sitting on television talking about shoes, smelling shoe. Did the man pick up his coworker's shoe and smell it? Is that not an H.R.

violation? The guy does that. And I'm supposed to believe what he says about a quarterback. I ain't joking. Listen to this from ESPN.

They're Attico. You don't know. You don't know anything about Brian. You're the last person to talk about Brian. Is that something?

Him of all people. Are you really sniffing the shoe? I just got the shoe when I typed on.

I got to keep an eye on you. You know, he might have a foot fetish. That might be one of those.

That might be one of those. It's a nice black patent leather. These are like these are like the lazy heels.

OK, would you give me my shoe back? Hickey is is isn't Dan or stuttering here? Isn't he married? With kids.

At least one child. You think his wife was OK? That this man with a wife and a child and a family at home. She was OK that this man was on Disney's ESPN.

I got to put Disney's ESPN, Mickey Mouse's ESPN. This man was on television sniffing his coworker's shoe. She had to tell him I'm wearing tights like you want me barefoot, like what's wrong with this man?

I wish I had an answer for you to answer your first question. Would his wife appreciate that? I don't think she would think she'd be a little bit mad to have your husband sniffing a coworker who is a female, a female coworker shoe on the air.

Wow. That's like if I came in in the morning time. And I sat here and smell Maggie's shoe. Everybody be like, what the hell are you doing? There's something wrong with you. I'd be everything I'd say after that would be invalidated. They would call me. What would they not call me over to H.R.? You'd talk to people. You'd have a meeting or two or two.

I can think about maybe three or four meetings that I have to. Why are you in his smelling shoes? And I'm supposed to take what he says about a quarterback prospect seriously. And I get it. It's all fun. Natured and good nature. Even what I'm saying is good natured. It's a joke. I'm joking a little bit. And he can have opinions on on Jayden Daniels being the best quarterback.

And here's some facts. He might end up being the best quarterback. Jayden Daniels might end up being the best quarterback in this draft. That's not out of the realm of possibility. It might happen that way. I mean, I can go back to a 98 and I can say, oh, my God, here's Ryan Leaf and Peyton Manning and and who's going to be who and what's going to be what? Well, we saw how that played out. It's like they had opposite careers in the worst way possible.

And so anything that anybody can do is sit around and have projections. Caleb Williams might be. A bust. Might suck. This guy might be a loser. And we can go up and down the draft and I can start thinking about quarterbacks who have gotten shots and or opportunities just over the past few years, the past couple of seasons. I mean, Kenny Pickett got his shot.

Beautiful story, right? Oh, we got our guy. He's out of pit. He's going to stay in Pittsburgh. He's going to be a stealer. Steelers don't want that man anymore.

Sucks. I mean, they're looking at a guy like J.J. McCarthy and hoping that he can come through and take over out of Michigan. Come on. Last night, we talked about this disaster show, the New York Jets. They selected Zach Wilson at number two overall.

How did that work out? Here he is. Zach Wilson, the New York Jets are so sick and tired of this man. They basically looked at him and said, I had ideas done is done. Go find another team that wants you and bring us back a peanut butter jelly sandwich in return.

Like this is where we are. And not to beat up on the Jets, they did the same thing with Sam Donald. They took him at number four. And where is he sitting around thinking that he's better than Brock Purdy?

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I mean, let's look at last year. C.J. Stroud goes number two. Bryce Young goes number one.

You think about the team that surrounded him. Bryce Young, if he doesn't have a good season or an improvement, people are going to look at him and go, oh, man, what a loser. That's how that works in the NFL. That's the nature of the game.

And so, yeah, this is what's fun about it. Everybody's going to look at Drake May and Michael Pennix, Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels. Man, out of the guys that I just named, maybe only one of them might be good, because let's also keep this in mind. They're entering into the quarterback pool. There are 32 starting jobs available in the NFL.

They rotate quite frequently. Jimmy Garoppolo makes way for Aidan O'Connell. Aaron Rodgers breaks down, makes way for Zach Wilson. Jimmy Garoppolo, a couple of years ago, breaks down. Damn it, every 49ers quarterback broke down.

And then we get Brock Purdy. This is how it is. There's no guarantee. Hey, I'd put more money down that most of these guys are going to be failed projects than they're going to be success stories.

And that's just the nature of the NFL and how it goes. And so maybe Dan Orlovsky, maybe he wants to be a genius. Maybe if in a couple of seasons Jayden is better than Caleb, he can say, I told you so.

Just by making a wild shot in the dark, because guess what? What's going to happen? He's going to get hit by cold takes.

Is that what's going to happen? Nobody's going to care about what he said here. But if he is right and Jayden is better than Caleb, all of a sudden Dan Orlovsky, he won't just be a shoe whisperer. People are going to call this guy a genius talent evaluator. But man, for what we've seen from Caleb, from the body of work of which Jayden Daniels doesn't have the same. It'd be foolish to look at Jayden Daniels and go, I'm going to select him number one.

The Chicago Bears would be real, real stupid at that point. Hey, Hickey, what do you think about what Orlovsky had to say? I disagree. I do not think Jayden Daniels would be better.

Part of what scares me about Jayden Daniels a little bit, I kind of equate it to Kenny Pickett. He was a five-year starter. They both were. They started, they used that COVID year to their advantage. They played a lot of football. And it's a little concerning that for the first four years, you're just kind of eh.

He sucks. Arizona State was not very good. LSU in 2022, okay, like nothing crazy. And then just like Kenny Pickett the last year, all of a sudden, boom, big explosion, Pitt wins the ACC, LSU, or he wins the Heisman, I should say, Jayden Daniels does. And it's like, you had all that time to play. And only one year you were like truly like better than just OK or solid.

That concerns me. You're seeing with Kenny Pickett right now, right? Year three, eh, not much there for the Steelers. He's more dynamic, but I'm afraid that's kind of the same path. This is like the, it's like that kid that got left back in school, right? It's like, hey, he's in fifth grade. He belongs in, he belongs in sixth grade. And he's out here playing basketball with us. He's beating us up because he's older than us.

This kid got a mustache and a beard and he's beating us in basketball and I'm in elementary school. That's kind of what you're saying, I think, right? Basically, yeah.

Beaten up on the 18 year olds that don't know their head from their you-know-what. Yeah. Ass from the elbows. That's it. I like that.

I don't know the ass from the elbows. Hey, congratulations, Jayden Daniels. You got one fan who thinks you will be a number one. The Bears would be stupid to select you.

If you had a larger body of work, I'd say yes. That's what it boils down to. You just can't look at one season and go, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, him, him, him. Dan Olofsky, he smelled the wrong shoe. That's what happened to him. It's the JR Sport Reshow here with you on CBS Sports Radio.

Listen, folks, we are going to take a break on the other side of said break. This guy, he has been running in shoes in the NBA for like 20 years and he is still playing out of his mind. It's LeBron James, a complete nut. He's leading comebacks. He's exciting. He's still the best player on the Lakers. He's, dare I say, he's getting ready to break another record. He's going further than anybody's gone further before. We're going to talk about LeBron on the other side. He ain't no prospect.

He's just old and he's still balling out of control. You're locked in to the JR Sport Brief Show here on CBS Sports Radio. Subscribe and soak in baseball is boring.
