Hidden Treasures of the Song of Songs, which is Solomon s. So heaven definitely touches earth today as we get to the seventh verse in the eighth chapter of the Song of Solomon. And the seven being the Zion first, and you know that number seven has to do with the delight and the fear of the Lord.

And this is certainly you ll see that I m sure in many ways. So as we talked about yesterday, that jealousy was coals of fire with have the most vehement flame. Well, today s verse seven in English reads, Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it.

If a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would be utterly contempt. And so, you know, as we were talking about, it s so cool to me that the idea of heaven in Hebrew is that letter word Shemaim, and that starts with a shin, which has to do with fire, and then maim which is water. And so, you know, fire and water just don t tend to mix here on earth, but in heaven they do really, really well. But when you think about it, you know, when God brings judgment, specifically if Jesus brings judgment, it comes by water or it comes by fire. But when you put the two together here on earth, you know, the water obviously would quench the fire, or if you heat it up the water a great deal, it becomes steam.

And the other thing that you can t help but think about is that water itself scientifically is made up of hydrogen and oxygen, which, you know, when you put those together you get a bomb. So, you know, you think it s fascinating that here in heaven there is a complete harmony between fire and water, but, you know, on earth it s not so much so, especially in the idea of judgment, because when you think about judgment coming, the Sodom, it was raining fire. You know, Noah, it was raining rain, and Jonah experienced a whole lot of rain, and, you know, as he was surrounded by the floods. And so many times we see these judgments coming this way, obviously, maybe not obviously, but Pharaoh s horses and chariots were drowned in that judgment, as it were. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, of course, walked around in the fire, but their captors certainly experienced the judgment of fire, and so you see this constantly and very, very cool is the idea of shalom sounds a lot like shamaim, if you heard the word heaven in Hebrew is shamaim, and you hear that shin and then water.

Well, shalom is very, very similar. Again, the harmony between fire and water. And interestingly, when you combine certain Hebrew concepts, like the idea of Elisha and Elijah, it s interesting, you get an idea of rain and fire, and when you mix Jonathan and David, you get a similar thing and you certainly do with John the Baptist and Jesus. As the word Yeshua and Jonathan is the same kind of thing is this harmony between fire and rain, and so what can withstand fire and rain? And so Jesus gives us the clues to that in both Luke and Matthew. He says the wise man that builds his house upon the rocks, right? When the rains come and the floods overcome it, what s not going to happen is it s not going to be drowned because they listen to what Jesus said and did it, which is, by the way, love, right? He who hears my commandments and does them is the one that loves me. And so the one thing that waters do not quench, nor does fire burn up, is love.

And it s fascinating to me that Jesus is the very thing, but one side or the other is the horrible, like we talked about yesterday. Hell is a place where there is no Jesus, and so obviously it s just an out of control fire. And so it s really, really beautiful that we think, especially this Christmas, what can you do to fireproof or floodproof your Christmas gift? Well, cover it in love and it will never burn up, right? Love is stronger than all these waters.

You can t wash it out and it certainly cannot be burned up. It withstands whatever because it s Jesus that actually is stronger than both because he is. He is that. And so when you look at that, you know, you think about what is going to withstand, you know, the test of floods and rains and all those kind of things. And the answer is, if you ve experienced this, I certainly have, is family, right? There s love in family. And I ll never forget when I lost the dealership, you know, I lost a whole lot of friends. And so many different things went away, but what didn t go away was actually the people that truly loved me, and that was brothers and sisters in Christ, right?

My friends at the nursing home, my hundred mothers I ve talked about so many times, but certainly my wife, my children. In other words, the floods do not overcome that. And the fire can t overcome that. You know, Bob Young, my good friend, had a fire at his business. What stuck around? Family.

It always does. Love, you know, conquers in all these different cases. And so as you think about, you know, the beauty of this verse and coming into the season is like, what can we do to fireproof?

What can we do to floodproof our Christmas presents is you just simply surround them by love. But as we get into this verse, what s being told to us is that our sealing by the Holy Spirit, in other words, the sign that Jesus gave us that we d be sealed with the Holy Spirit as we came upon this in the sixth verse, that we re going to have the seal in our heart and seal upon our arm and the Holy Spirit s strength, that what? That nothing, nothing can stand between us and the one our love that nobody can snatch him out of our hands. No love, no fire, no rain, no nothing like that, because what? Love endures all.

And isn t that beautiful? I hope that you rejoice in this verse as much as I do. And the idea of the peace and the joy of fire and rain when they re connected. You know, I ve seen fire and I ve seen rain, seen sunny days that I thought would never end. But again, the idea of fire and rain, it s throughout the Bible, but it s certainly connected to the idea of everlasting love, because that s what it is. Thanks for listening.
