We encourage you to visit, cross the bridge.com to study the Scriptures along with Pastor David right now open your Bible to the Old Testament book of Job and follow along for today's teaching in this series of special weekend edition programs.
Pastor David has been teaching lessons from the life of Job.
Job is one of the oldest books in the Bible we are finding out that what needed to be learned. Back then, still needs to be learned by us today as we continue studying chapter 31. Now here's Pastor David we've been going through the book of Joe St., Job, chapter 31 verse one have made a covenant with my eyes. Why should I look upon a young woman for what is the allotment of God, because the inheritance of the Almighty from on high is not destruction from the wicked and disaster for the workers of iniquity does not seem outlays, steps if I have walked with foster or if not for has hastened to this treatment may be waived on honest scales. God made no my integrity and my status turned from the way my heart walked over my eyes. My heart walked after my ninth grade and he spotted here's to my hands and let me show another eight yes let my harvest be rooted out if my heart is been enticed by a woman.
I have lurked at my neighbor's door than that. My wife ground for another car service from another and let others bow down over that would be wickedness.
Yes, it would be iniquity deserving of judgment for that would be a fire that consumes to destruction, and would root out all my increase. Verse 13 if I have despised the cause of my male or female servant when the complaint against me.
What then shall I do when God rises up when he punishes how shall I answer him did not he who made me in the womb. Make them did not the same one fashion us in the one for 16 if I have kept the poor from their desire or cause the eyes of the widow to fail or eat Marshall by myself so that the fatherless could not eat of it for my use reared him as a father and for my mother's room. I guided the widow verse 90 and I have seen anyone perish for lack of clothing for any poor man without covering. If his heart has not blessed and if he was not warmed with the fleece of my sheet if I have raised my hand against the fatherless. When I saw I had helped in the gate and let my arm fall from my shoulder that my arm be torn from the socket for distraction from God is a terror to me and because of his magnificence. I cannot endure it. I have made go. My hope or said the Feingold. You are my confidence. If I have rejoiced because my wealth was great and because my hand gained my if I have observed the sun when it shines of the moon moving in brightness, so that my heart has been secretly enticed in my mouth is kissed my hand. This also would be an inquiry deserving of judgment. For I would have denied God who is above verse 29 is I have rejoiced at the destruction of him who hated me, or lifted myself up when you will found in DI have not allowed my mouth to send by asking for a curse on his soul.
If the men of my 10 have not said it was there that has not been satisfied with his meet, but no sojourner had to watch in the street, for I have opened my doors to the traveler while so we see he was being responsible with the increase that he been given that he was helping to provide for others is key. No verse 33. If I have covered my transgressions as Adam, hiding my iniquity in my bosom that initially people were already talking about how God created the earth and help what happened with Adam that he can't afford his transgression is coming to the Lord with verse 34 because I feared the great multitude, and dreaded the contempt of families that are kept silence and did not go out of the door old that I had one to hear me. Here is my mark that the Almighty would answer me that my prosecutor had written a book Shirley Allen carried on my shoulder find it on the electric crown, declared to him the number of my steps like a prince I would approach and if my plan cries out against me in its first week together. If I have eating its fruits without our cost, its owners to lose their lives, then let thistles grow considerably in weeds. Instead of borrowing the words of Joe are ended. Let's read a few more verses here in chapter 32 because her some interesting things here that will include in chapter 31 Google St. on chapter 32 of Job verse one, so these three men ceased answering Job because he was righteous in his allowance and the wrath of Ella who the son of barracks, but as I have the family of the lamb was aroused against Job's wrath was aroused because he justified himself rather than God. Also against his three friends. His wrath was aroused because they had found no answer. And yet had taken Tim Joe now because they were years older than he, Ella, who had waited to speak to Joe when Helen saw that there was no answer.
In the mouth of these three men, his wrath was aroused to Ella who the son of barracks because I answered and said I am young in years and you are very old. Therefore, I was afraid and did not declare my opinion to you.
I said age should speak in multitude of years should teach wisdom but there is a spirit in man and breath of the Almighty give some understanding Allison list.
Great men are not always wise since he will become outlaws on time stuck great men are not always wise, nor do the aged always understand justice Joe was presenting himself as being right in God the wrong and he was trying to justify himself rather than God. In chapter 31, when Job in chapter 31 to say put me on the scales that God made no my integrity says in verse six, chapter 31 under six jokes is all that God may know, my integrity. Look, it's easy for us to sit here and criticize Joe, we need to learn. We see here when after you think I should be impressed with your integrity. That's not a good road to go down or is it God owes you something that's for religion man way can take.
It's a humbling thing. The prophet Isaiah.
Isaiah has so many others awesome versus the prophet writes in chapter 64, six pieces, but we are all like an unclean thing all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags. We all fade as a leaf in our iniquities, like the land of taken us away in the new American Standard.
That's a good fit for all of us have become like one who is unclean, all of our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment. All of us with her like a leaf in our iniquities, like the wind, take us away. And when the prophet says I righteousnesses are like filthy rags. That's a very descriptive term. It's used menstrual cloths.
That's what our righteousnesses no not only do you have that image but also understand that makes you unclean.
There's a portion of that cycle of woman would have been considered unclean and would have even gone outside the camp. So I righteousnesses is unclean.
Our righteousness leaves us fast tumbling and initiated is mostly when you look at these things and see that Job was Jenna say love God, look at my righteousness and even righteousness compared to God's so we see that Job really slipped off here at the end and what he was saying and granted no the enemy again.
The war worn him down and be careful that years ago though such words of wisdom's Charles Stanley use the acronym H a LT and he said any time in ministry where you're hungry, angry, lonely tire, hungry, angry, lonely or tired. Be careful whenever you have a huge victory.
The careful Elijah guy don't think this only because the victory on Mount Carmel. All the prophet said God it shown himself mighty on his back and in the course. Jezebel says I'm going to get shipmates freaks out rooms. This leaves us an interesting place to protect your 32. I really almost on a jump in their book town would restrain us, but here's what is interesting to you is we find ourselves in this season, Hanukkah, and it helps us to understand this season to understand its significance to us to the Jewish people into the world.
I first saw Monica is not one of the seventh biblical feast of Atticus 23 has those and hopefully you know those of you been there well should be able to go through and Passover, unleavened bread firstfruits Pentecost spring feast and in the winter, feast of Rosh Hashanah first trumpet in your own group or Day of atonement and then east of those. So, feast of Tabernacles is 1/7 biblical feast, Hanukkah is not one another is not one of the seven in addition to those seven feast. There's also the monthly.
There's also the ship docked really talk about the Shabbat homework sometime this season because it would be awesome for you to have a Shabbat take a Shabbat. Perhaps Christmas Eve or Christmas Day or New Year's Eve and so will give you a hand and I'll talk a little bit about how it is because once again.
Yeah, we intend on the Sabbath is not for gentiles.
It was to store all that way until just a few years ago.
Gentiles kept the Sabbath and we had the blue laws and you can get into the legislate morality. Discussion me.
We do legislate morality to say we don't just target your statement but did I say that you thought I fed that out interject, drawing from God's word for wisdom. We come up with some interesting things again Hanukkah and showroom that was her to not biblical feast, but they are of significance. If we had the Apocrypha in our Bibles which we don't. As Protestants we would read that and Maccabee ends first and second that there was Hanukkah. Should a Christian celebrate Hanukkah it were following Jesus. I guess we should because Jesus is right and it's recording the Scripture. I never was told that I read this and so in John chapter 10 in verse 22 is now was the feast of dedication in Jerusalem the feast of dedications Hanukkah. It talks about the festival of lights that wasto dedication in Jerusalem and it was winter and Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch so he won during Hanukkah to minister. So should we celebrate on absolutely and we should use it as an opportunity to minister some Christians get into well Christmas at Saturnalia and were not really sure if the day that Jesus was born in and come off looking like Scrooge don't do that and don't do that on Facebook as unbelievers are watching Pastor David will be back in less than one minute.
As he continues teaching in the book of Job. A great way to start out each day is with a practical email devotional every morning from Pastor David visit cross the bridge.com to start receiving yours for free. If you have a cell phone. You can also text the word encourage 294253 that's 94253 to receive a short encouraging text from us each day, and now back to the teaching of Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch.
Then the Jews surrounded him and said to them, how long can you keep us in doubt. If you are the Christ, who was plainly done so many things. By this point it's interesting how time changes, nothing changes. Here are the people of Israel again looking for some tell us if you are the Messiah, tell us in a few verses in John Jesus answered them, said I told you, and you did not believe the works that I do in my father's name link bear witness of the you do not believe because you are not a flashy and as I said to you might hear my voice and I know them and they follow me. Listen for his voice.
My sheep hear my voice and I know and they follow me and please understand that when the Lord is speaking to you. Sometimes the enemy will come in their and try to talk try to slip some men, how can you tell go to work.
That's never going to contradict his work. The enemy will contradict order got my sheep hear my voice and I know them and they follow me and I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish for skin good. Neither shall anyone snatch them out of my hand.
My father was given them to me, is greater than all and no one is able to snatch them out of my father said I am my father great work into daily plan is to say if somebody says, oh God. Jesus never said he was God or never presented himself to be God or nobody thought he was God that nonsense.
Great passage of John chapter 10 verse 31 to 33 and the Jews took up stones again the stone and Jesus answered them many good works have shown for my father, for which of these works do you stone me. The Jews answered him saying for work. We do not stone you, but for blasphemy and because you be a man.
Make yourself God. They were confused about what Jesus is, they were upset they were accusing him of saying he was God market seamlessly and he sent me and my father on and they got mad again anytime you see these guys get map that go back and retest you missed it, so they get man in this again. This is during this feast of dedication festival of lights.
Lights are very important. Biblically, the very important. There is something in the spring wire working at the fire or even a candle. There's something about that time that we are drawn to which so there's Hanukkah and it has many spellings, you're wondering how to spell it is like three different ways and everybody seems okay well himself. One has one and one K-1 has two cages, one starts with the CHO so Hanukkah it's pronounced the same, no matter how you spell it Hanukkah, Hanukkah, Hanukkah, festival of lights, feast of dedication again.
While it's not one of the seven Jewish race has more to do for you you about the end times any of the other fixed me a little bit for you of what happened in another toward detail that I've discovered in the research was a man, a leader who when he became the official leader added epiphanies. To this day to this title basically making himself a God.
So he decided he's a God tells about God's continued guess epiphanies now he's over Judea and he is the Greek influence. He's doing is called Helen I've seen are getting people to speak Greek right. Greek rate Greek pickup. The Greek ways and this was happening in Israel and people were falling away from the faith and to the two groups of people and one of them were following Antiochus epiphanies he came back from this war in Egypt and there was a scuttling, he decided he was going to put his foot down and intercede when he was in Egypt and take his epiphanies. He literally drew the line in the sand, and that's where we get that while in the same thing from them, take us, so he comes back from Egypt sees this stuff going on in Israel and they just do horrible, unspeakable things, killed 80,000 people in Jerusalem a lot of women and children. They have them do just horrible stuff and at the same time he takes the temple and takes all the gold out of basin influenced from the altar of Satan, from another place that we read around the book of Revelation to. He's been influenced by that altar of Zeus altar of Satan.
He comes to the temple and in the temple puts an altar to Zeus and puts all these unclean things. Then he takes his head, which is noncanonical takes his blood and just sleep just to explode all over the temple. He tells the Jewish people, we can celebrate Sabbath, you can't do anything Jewish. You can't go to the temple.
You cannot worship.
If we find you worshiping or celebrate the Sabbath. Okay.
And they did the component group of people have known the cave and going there and celebrate the Sabbath and they had a spot that came in the told about them and they were all executed. The two ladies circumcise their children and they were made to go to the streets with their children.
Nursing them in front of everybody in any had him thrown off of the high point in the city.
Things are bad they were bad and they were outnumbered they were outgunned.
This was an army betting ticket but there was a group of people that wanted to worship God and yeah I know it was illegal, but they were the remnant that said when I got up a man who obeyed God in transit times may come in this country we have to decide.
We may have to engage in civil disobedience.
Here they come in they say looking at you can't say that this is the center that the sand because that takes feet.
Some would label what I said Sunday HH it's okay because of that was don't do that again our organist throw you in jail. No better go ahead and get all up, they'll fund for Pastor David because I'm gonna keep declaring the gospel a man praised. I have instilled into your good fitness object is what spoken in the book of Daniel when he speaks about the abomination of desolation. It's a picture of the end times. They had desecrated the temple but the Maccabees they said you know why we have to fight against this so they start. We started fighting against little skirmishes through guerrilla warfare. They got this straight, and then that little town in this highway in that little town and then I got up to the gates of Jerusalem and even though there were outnumbered and outgunned. Somehow they took Jerusalem back and they went into the temple and it was there. It was weeds growing everywhere and then they went in and they follow-up pigs blood, and they started cleaning and Scotland and it went to light the menorah, but they only had oil from 19 and it took eight days to process the oil to use it in the menorah so you know what their renneted weld. The oil that was supposed to last for one day last for eight days and Celine while they were making oil and prepare and that will burn long enough to did and they could prepare as oil continues and that's why it's called the festival of lights, or the feast of dedication and you see there's a picture there of remnant standing up for God even though it's not popular, even though the government at that time said it was illegal. They still stood up.
What a wonderful picture of what we need to do, and whatever times we find ourselves in a key verse that they use for Hanukkah was Zechariah chapter 4 verse six. So he answered and said to me this is the word of the Lord to flare up of the not by my nor by power, but my mass spirit says the Lord of hosts, we need to remember that it's not by might nor by power but not mass spirit says the Lord does not excuse for us to sit back and just got we press it and we do all we can then let God handle it. We give God our best and watch what he does with all one last thing from more research into his epiphanies was pushing a group agenda on them, but he himself was not very Syrian. So God saved Israel from the Syrians over and over.
God preserves Israel for this always preserves the friend I firmly believe that we, the church will be rapture now before the tribulation.
