Look at David's reply have sinned against the Lord. Insight Nathan, you know what this woman was May the neck and outside. You need to go talk to her.

Nathan if you you can center you probably none none of us know I've said it and make excuses. He didn't give reason is that you sent welcome to cross the bridge with David McGee. The senior pastor of the bridge in Kernersville, North Carolina. Today we have deal with this in studio meal is one of the McGee's assistant pastors to help them in his work. The church and ministry will Bob good to be here with our listeners and I know that we can all relate today Pastor David's teaching when we gotten ourselves in a little bit of a predicament falling short in that time, or somebody comes in have that reflection of maybe doing something wrong that restoration is not that easy to hear it.

It's also not that easy to see and for someone that God has appointed as a leader. It's difficult to listen to another person to tell you what you or that you, but you know what we all need restoration and there's a way to properly blessing to listlessness. David McGee sure is my first through second Samuel chapter 12 some of those details were dealing with one of the more famous incidences in Scripture. My reaction for the infamous incidences in Scripture having to do with David and Bathsheba. So we talked last week we looked at the chapter where David falls with Bathsheba and we learn some stuff from an this chapter.

Chapter 12 is an interesting study in how a lot of things that are impractical for us number one confronting how to confront somebody love with something that's going on in their life. Biblical restoration how do you restore somebody. It was a fallen and these are things again that we don't necessarily like to talk about but we should talk about it because sometimes what happens is we don't talk about Intel were in the situation and they were scrambling trot figure out the skills to confront somebody in and to restore somebody anything.

Please understand, according to the Bible.

We've been given the ministry of reconciliation.

This is something that we all need to be skilled in and seeing somebody restore. I think we can all think of somebody in our life needs restoration in order to start this chapter really listless go back to verse 27 of chapter 11 as is and when her morning talking about Bathsheba.

It was over, David sent, and brought her to his house and she became his wife and bore him a son. But the thing that David done this please the Lord. So that's a setup for this chapter. Because here's the deal.

Got a year Ryan had been killed. Bathsheba morning for season then married David gave him a son and everything looks like it's all right like nothing was wrong in the David, if you will got away with snow happens.

Chapter 12 verse one is in the Lord sent Nathan to David and he came to him and said to him, there were two men in one city, one rich and the other poor.

The rich man had exceedingly many flocks and herds, but the poor man had nothing except one little ewe lamb, which he had bought in marriage then it grew up together with him and with his children and eight of his own food and drink from his own cup, and lay in his bosom was like a daughter, Dan and a traveler came to the rich men who refused to take from his own flock and from his own herd to prepare one for the wayfaring man who would come to him, but he took the poor man's lamb and prepared it for the man who would come to him.

So David's anger was greatly aroused against the man and he said the name of the Lord lives. The mandalas done this out shortly, and he shall restore for full for the lamb because he did this thing because he had no pity. This is interesting because according to the Bible.

This man did not deserve that by taking this other man's lamb that was not ace it was not something that was worthy of the sentence of death and and yet that's what David proclaims in. David is very angry at this man. An interesting was that David could see something in this man, that at the moment.

They couldn't see himself it was all angry at this guy who really know in the story of Nathan. This guy took one sheet compared to what David and Don really wasn't that big of a deal.

So I David angry. Well, it brings us the next life lesson. We often see the sand in the lives of others more clearly than we see the sin in our own life.

We often see the sand in the lives of others more clearly than we see the sin in our own life. When you look at the life somebody and you find them. You find yourself getting angry at their sin should stop and ask yourself in my angry because I'm seeing something in them that I'm engaging in the answer. A lot of times is yes. Verse seven. Then Nathan said the David you are the man, thus says the Lord God of Israel. I anointed you king over Israel and I delivered you from the hand of Saul. I gave you your master's house, and your master's wives into your keeping gave you the house of Israel and Judah, and that had been too little. Also would have given you much more why have you despise the commandment of the Lord to do evil in his sight, you have killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword. You've taken his wife to be your wife and have killed them with the sword of the people of Ammon. Now therefore, the sword shall never depart from your house because you have despised me and of taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife. We often don't talk to somebody that's engaged in wrongdoing or maybe they just had shown up at church and we feeling comfortable inviting him or whatever. And because we might be uncomfortable.

We don't talk to people about situation. Nathan could have been executed for what he did here David with a motion of his hand could have Nathan kill Nathan knew that but he still told David what not because he was angry that the because he loved David and he cared for David. He was willing to risk the relationship by saying these things. See, this is something that we are supposed to be engaged with with one another. Now I've discovered you have to have some sort of relationship in order for this to function properly. In other words, you know, I just write down the street you know it. And there's a goblets of the University of Maryland is drinking a beer or something and I just yell out the car whenever you know that's probably not can be very effective but if I have a relationship with somebody and say hey man, it seems like you're struggling in this area and no one only help you with this. This often will lead to the moment where this verse is so misquoted was quoted correctly but so out of contact you get assurance makes it hey are you doing okay with this because I do not see this in your life and I just want to help much in on praying for you that often leads to that she be judged. We love the sling that went around on the Marines do something. Interestingly enough I been told was an agreement that unit they would square off with her with her buddy 6 feet apart, look each other over from their head to their tone and say hey bro your your boots not tight or or this is wrong or that's not buckle where your gun, you don't.

They were going about it on hundred you know what, whatever they look at each other and I tell each other now. I cannot imagine in that moment, a Marine looking another, but he goes on, you know what, thanks so much again were going abound in them.

So why is it once my cares enough about us to say something to us that we really don't want to hear, is in that moment and it's it's a fragile moment when somebody is willing to risk the relationship bring something to us that they arty know we don't want to hear. I know this you know what this to a certain degree I do this every week from this platform, but you guys need to know something I don't I don't want Amber do this in anger want to do in love and there's been times. To be honest I couldn't even mention certain subjects because I knew about. Then I be doing in anger and in the November I'm done that member. I've spoken in anger from this platform. May the Lord forgive me because I've never meant to do plenty of pastors out there taking up the slack. I just got a be in love. It's gotta be luck. Galatians chapter 6 verse one says his brethren in the man is overtaken in any trespass, you are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted new living translation says it like this, dear brothers and sisters of another Christian is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right gently and humbly when we can do it gently and humbly don't know, don't do it. If you can't do it gently.

If you can't do it humbly, don't do it within will then who's going to confront them in their scent, find somebody but if you can do it like this, then this Scripture saying you know what you're going to be tempted in and be harsh to somebody and you're in a fall in your spiritual pride.

Ephesians chapter 4 verse with things is speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into him who is the head, Christ speaking the truth in love, see the partnership. There truth and I love you just make love without the truth is not doing them any good if you speak the truth without law that's not going to do any good. We've all seen examples in the an example of the law without the truth would be innovative in some places. Hey, I worship the pagan moon god in that you know I used to be an aunt not been reincarnated. You know, when you look at me go that's just wonderful.

Your love but are you giving them the truth.

No, you know. And again we seen examples of ministries that overfilled the truth, but there's no and everyone of us has done this. We spoken the truth without love and we spoken love without truth and so there's the balance of the so when you go to talk to somebody when you go to restore somebody and here's the life lesson we should restore people. That's the life lesson we should restore people but we should do it in three ways.

Number one, we should do it with truth number two. We should do it in love and number three we should do it gently. We should do it actually could shorten it. You can you should do it with truth loving gently, we should do it with truth, love, and gently and again what if you're in a position where you can't do it with truth loving gently and went white find somebody that can notice Galatians talks about somebody that spiritually mature want to say that while I mention you know when you first got saved. The passion and the zeal we had pictures, probably people still bleeding from New Year's Eve. You know what happens as you grow in the Lord whenever you're confront somebody about anything. I look at my this is me set for the grace of God. This is me the something in ministry that's interesting oftentimes and forgot to put some mining the ministry. He struggles in every way humanly possible before God puts them in ministry so that them when this person in ministry is talking to somebody who struggling with what ever there sitting there and I did that for years while because there's a compassion instead of you know well I was born a pastor and I read about people like you in books and their bad and and so there's just not that gentleness while because they had been through it. That's why friend of you been through things you been through. Like like drug abuse. You understand there's an ability within you to minister to somebody that still struggling with that that does not exist to some of you hasn't been through, or this chapter starting about adultery. If you fall in such a way you can minister to somebody that's there or the alcohol or health problems or business problems. There's created in you a compassion for those areas. Now you are uniquely qualified to minister in those areas and that again makes it even more important that you be mature so that you're now removed from that stumbling place because of a unit minister in semi-about alcohol and try to put the hand down to bring about in any goods you want to drink and I say sure I'm no longer ministering to try to get me. I'm just trying to get on his levels like minister to. Now here's Pastor David as he continue showing verse by verse per se.

I gaming your master's house and the Masters lies in your keeping came in the house of Israel and Judah and abandonment to little I would've given you much more widely. Despite only reading this, but why have you despise the commandment of the Lord to do evil in the sight you've killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword. You've taken his wife to be your wife have killed him with the sword of the people we always remember the sin of David with Bathsheba the understanding God's listing.

He keeps listening Uriah at first you know why because the sin with Bathsheba was a crime of passion and and if you will. Shortsightedness on the part of David, the crime, when Uriah was planned out in premeditated and showed callousness and murder God said you know I blessed you and somehow you thought the blessings were and they were not? See how they were back to that contentment thing while on what I don't not satisfied with the way that God has blessed me all more than 1/2.

This pronouncement verse 10, though. Therefore, the short the sword shall not depart from your house because you despise me of taking the wife of your right it like to be your wife. This is the Lord.

Behold, I will raise up adversely against you from your own house and I will take your wives before your eyes and give them to your neighbor, and he shall lie with your wives in the sight of the sun. For you did it secretly, but I will do this thing before all Israel before the sun next few chapters really see all the things to fill the really sad time in the life of David, but you know, the killing, there's the rape of tomorrow the killing of Abner killing of Absalom and later on the killing of Adonijah and Absalom sleeps with Davis concubines. All these properties come true to the letter evil was to come from his own family rebellion. Adonijah held that when David was dying. Adonijah rose up in rebellion today with selection of Solomon. The continuous front, Absalom himself his own son raised up the sword against his missus to be a long and bitter harvest for David. There's a rabbinical saying. Sin is the seed that this part. Sin is and see death is the harvest when we understood that all we do always say will be revealed. What is not revealed. Now will be revealed later. What we really understood what we understood the omnipresence of God, meaning God is everywhere. We really understood that our lives think we would live different lives.

That's part of, I believe it in the end times eschatology or that the sequence of end time events. The Bible seems to paint this expectation that it any moment Jesus could call us home so we should live like because friend at any moment that could happen.

I should comfort us, knowing that God sees everything because friend if you been through something painful God was there in abandon you at that moment, but then the sobering thing is that he sees things when we are doing stuff we shouldn't do what, here's the turning point, Nathan has told the story Nathan has confronted David. He's done it in a gentle way. A loving way out of love and not out of anger. And so now it's up to David. Verse 13 so David said the Nathan, I have sinned against the Lord.

Nathan said the David, the Lord also has put away your center shall not look at David's reply, I have sinned against the Lord..

Insight Nathan, you know what this woman was bathing necking outside. You need to go talk to her and say that you can singer you probably done none of that snow absent it and make excuses. He didn't give reasons sin you sent. It's an interesting thing when my cell for staff are assisting pastors ministry leaders or whatever and go to somebody in the fellowship and say hey you know what that this is an issue you spoke that person out of anger or harsher, you know, he said he did this and then do that or you did this and he said he did whatever, there's an interesting passage in Proverbs chapter 9 verse eight says this. Do not correct the scoffer, lest he hate you rebuke a wise man and he will love you give instruction to a wise man and he will be still wiser teach a just man, and he will increase in learning new living translation says it so don't bother rebuke and mockers labeling H but the wiser and reviewed. Love you all the more teach the wives and they will be wiser teach the righteous, and they will learn more do you want to be a wise person than when you're corrected receive got bored and I got other pastors in my life that I go to on a regular basis and say I seemingly assume I'm not doing or something I'm doing wrong doing right, whatever you see anything. Sometimes you know I don't even have to ask the company I what about this. I appreciate what because another caring for me, as a matter fact in that moment there caring more for me one thing when you're not seen any because we all understand it's easier not say anything and different when somebody comes to you there caring for you. The care enough to attain the truth in love, say some really blunt things from this platform, but again I don't salmon a mean spirited way and again if they've ever I do remember I have pleased the Lord is help reveal it because I want to be like that we can love and when that happens to me. Why learn something in ministry anywhere and they really get in line about us quickly apologize quickly, because if someone is bringing something to you there's an issue there. You might not even see whether there bringing it to your chances for real good. You've done something wrong and you can just say you know I'm sorry, I should've done should've said that you notice the simplicity of David sinned against the Lord not you know when we have all that we talked about this how we can apologize not really apologize.

We all have this downturn are on sorry took it that way. You are down. I sent an apology.

I'm sorry you took it. That might not. I'm sorry I said it.

I'm sorry took it that way or I'm sorry you misunderstood my son apology sinned against the Lord and so many times when I'm sitting down with somebody and I go to correct them in love gentle humbly, I can discern whether there a wise mentor and Scott because if they don't receive the correction. According to the Bible if I'm done my part in love and truth not done it gently and then reject it.

Guess what they're saying they're not a wise man in the reject in the Council wanted to be thinking in these times a confession. We need to be long and lamb, buoyant and what we say. You know, as a matter fact, the more you talk the less you're saying in that moment just want Lord us in the sinned against you and don't drag it out is when you ask him to forgive you.

He does with them. Only you start making excuses and reasons and and all these things not really repentant. David said to the guy who stole the sheep he said we should die guilt, execute he done nothing worthy of their David had committed adultery, which according to the Bible. He should've been stoned to death. David had premeditated murder which, according to the Bible, should've been killed for that, David is for two counts worthy of execution goddesses mercy like a takeout man. God Mance is killing. We haven't really done any worth anything worthy of killing God's is not mercy remember the story Jesus tells. He says you know this this guy, this king a whole lot of money and the kings of you.

I forgive you of your debt and then the guy goes in again for gave them a like $15,000 debt then that guy goes and finds a got $15 and start choking to me my money you want Jesus to tell a story because he same let you know I'm God and I have forgiven you so much. How is it that you can't forgive somebody else's absolute.

I know we've all been wounded. I've been wounded.

You've been wounded, and sometimes in some deep and significant weight. But here's what I know all of us are in here still living and breathing without wounds in our sides or hands or our feet buddies crucified your friend but your sins are what put Jesus on the cross and from the cross Jesus hanging from the cross at father forgive. They don't know what they're doing. That's our leader, and as we follow him we should be able to forgive other people of much smaller sayings and notice the guy immediately forgives David, the Lord also has put away your sense. Not after six months. After two years soon as David says, absent a forgive.

That's a cool bug. The money saved Jesus, forgive me, I messed up but it's done it's done. I really you know there is a no I'm not, I will go into detail about something that happened way back when, I just really regretted it.

It was bad and when I came back to the Lord.

I kept asking them to forgive me of over and over and over and over. One time in tearful prairie notion God please forgive me this gets, it was not enough somewhat lordly time.

He said that still small voice, was it not enough On the cross for that sin say yes Lord it was not his friend like it wasn't enough. You're asking me to forgive you something I've already forgiven you, but you keep bringing in and that's the beauty of coming toward asking forgive me if something he takes it and he takes that sin and throws it into the sea of forgetfulness and puts up a sinuses.

No fishing allowed. Don't go there. Don't go there, where family and friends have this neat way of always reminding you whatever you've done wrong in your life whether it was last week. Last year, or 20 years ago. That's not the way the Lord that's not the way, Lord David and this is broken for the 10 Commandments in one swoop shall not kill shall not steal shall not commit adultery shall not come anything. I'm sorry to forgive you see the grace of God friend you know for sure that your sins have been forgiven. You can know right now only Legion a short simple prayer simply telling God you're sorry and asking him to help you to live for him. Please pray this prayer with me out loud right now. Dear Jesus, I believe you died for me that I could be forgiven and I believe you were raised from the dead that I could have a new life not done wrong things I have sent and I'm sorry.

Please forgive me of all those things. Please give me the power to live for you. All of my days in Jesus name, amen it friend if you prayed that prayer according to the Bible you've been forgiven you've been born again. Jesus said he would not turn anybody away who comes to him and he came for those people who knew they needed forgiveness.
