The Patriot and the Preacher, where politics and religion do mix, starts right now.
Here are your hosts. And, unfortunately, those gave their lives for the freedoms enjoyed by a lot of other countries, and I'm not sure that all these people for whom these soldiers died recognize and appreciate the liberties that they now enjoy as a result of the sacrifices made by our men and women in our armed forces. They got you by their day at the beach, meaning the men that stormed Normandy in one of the most epic battles in the history of the world, and that was so true. Everybody has those freedoms to say what they want, do what they want, go and have a barbecue on that day, but did everybody really take a moment, I hope they did, to thank those men and women, not the ones that are serving. Memorial Day is not meant for that. That's Veterans Day, but for those that gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
Absolutely. I know I did, and we took time with our family to pause for a moment of silence prayer to thank the Lord for those men and thank their families. Of course, we didn't get a chance to thank them personally, but I read a column and I wanted to thank all of those who may be listening now. We appreciate and God bless you and your family for what your loved ones sacrificed for this great country. Amen to that. I was privileged and lucky enough last year and this year that I got to go to Arlington Cemetery, and so I have to tell everybody that that puts everything in perspective where you take a moment and look at each flag, at each gravestone. There's thousands of them there, Ben.
Thousands. So, you know, I think that there are times where we forget that we forget what the price of freedom is. And this week has been full of a lot of, well, there's been a lot of news that's been, some of it disturbing, and we're going to talk about that in the news segment, but also some great things happened. And the president, as we know, had a very successful trip abroad and he made it very clear that he was going to his campaign promise to put America first. And I'm glad that he's fulfilling that campaign promise.
And one of the things he did, which we're going to talk about in the next segment, Ben, was to pull out of the Paris Accord. And you would have thought that the president was going to unleash chemicals to ruin our country if you didn't know any better and ruin the world by him doing that. It's another example of what the fake media has been doing and continues to do. The hysteria that they have put out there is literally unbelievable.
It is indeed. And this is exactly the opposite of what the founding fathers had in mind when they established in our Constitution and Bill of Rights the right to a free press. They wanted the people to be informed of what the truth of the matter was, what was actually happening, and not to be victims and subjected to propaganda as we are so unfortunately experiencing nowadays. Yeah, complete propaganda. And, you know, there is an organization that some people may be aware of.
Hopefully you are. There is an organization that's out there right now that's fighting fire with fire. They've been on Hannity a couple times. And if you want to check them out, if you're on Facebook, it's called Stop the Scalping.
They have a Facebook page there and then they have a website called MediaEqualizer.com. And basically, thank God, a group of conservatives have come together to do exactly what the liberals and the fascists on the left have been doing to the voices of conservative ideals out there. And it's very interesting because they finally are fighting fire with fire. We need to stop being so polite and being worried about whether or not we may offend somebody. Because when they're going after some of the last voices of conservative views and ideals, that's when we should start to get very, very concerned. You are absolutely correct, man. And one of the things we need to keep in mind was that the founding fathers had in their mindset a free public that could make decisions based on the absolutes that this Constitution is based on. That all of our Bill of Rights is based on a set of absolutes. And that's what the founding fathers expected and anticipated that the modern citizenry would be able to abide by. That's right.
That's exactly right. And as a matter of fact, I believe it was my mother that said, forget about freedom of the press. We want to be free of the press right now because they are doing more damage. Way to go, mom. Yeah, that's what she said when I interviewed her for Mother's Day.
It's ridiculous right now. So, we're going to talk about that and more and we have two amazing guests. We're honored to have them both with us. First of all, Congressman Ken Buck. What an amazing patriot he is. He has a brand new book out called Drain the Swamp, How Washington Corruption is Worse Than You Think. He's got a lot to say about that. He's done a lot of research.
You won't believe some of the things he's found. And we also have a good friend of the show who's been on before, Doug Guiles. And Doug's going to talk about the incident with Kathy Griffin and what she did with her art, as she put it, or trying to be funny. Because it was not funny what she did. According to many accounts, President Trump's son saw that picture on TV.
And you can imagine, as an 11-year-old, he thought something had happened to his father. That's disgusting. Yes, it is. And had that been done by a conservative to the liberals, you cannot imagine the outrage that would currently be dominating our media. Fair and unbiased media today.
Oh, yeah. They're so unbiased right now. I would venture to guess right now, Ben, that that person, if somebody on the conservative side did something like that, would be in jail by now. So we're going to be right back. We've got two amazing guests. We're going to talk about the news and what's going on out there and what we can do as conservatives and as Christians to put pressure on the people that make decisions, to start draining that swamp a little sooner than they planned on.
Right, Ben? You got it, bro. So stick with us. This show is for Christians, conservatives, liberals, and even snowflakes. So stick with us for the next hour.
It's going to be a great ride. I am Mark Anthony, your preacher. And I'm Ben Kinsley, your preacher. We will be right back.

So Ben, you're probably not surprised to hear this and I know you've seen this out there, but Hillary Clinton has, well, she's doubled down on her theory of why she lost the election. Are you ready for this? I'm ready. Okay.
Here you go, bud. Cause this is unreal. First of all, she was, this is funny enough. There's some irony there. She was speaking at a conference called the code conference full of a bunch of techies and coders as they say. And so she has a lot to say about why she lost. So here it goes. I'm just going to give some quotes here, just so you understand what she's telling the audience.
I think it's ironic. This is somebody that said she wasn't very tech savvy and she's talking at a code conference, but through content farms, this is what she said. And through an enormous investment in falsehoods, fake news, meaning the news that came out about her, that was true. The other side was using content that was just flat out false and delivering it in a very personalized way, sort of above the radar screen and below. And you know, I'm not a tech expert by any stretch of the imagination, but that really influenced information that people were relying on. And there have been some studies done since the election that if you look, let's pick Facebook. If you look at Facebook, the vast majority of the items posted were fake. They were connected, as we know, listen to this Ben, to a thousand Russian agents who were involved in delivering those messages. They were connected to bots that are just out of control. And we now see that this new information about Trump's Twitter account being populated by millions of bots.
And it was such a new experience. I understand why people on Facebook pages will think would think, Oh, Hillary Clinton did that. I didn't know that's going to affect my opinion of her. And then she says we and we did not engage in false content. We have tried to put every piece of information in the best possible light, meaning spin it and explanations, but we weren't in the same category as the other side. Now, man, why did you put me through the agony of having to listen to Hillary Clinton pontificate?
And literally she goes on and on and on. It was paid advertising. We think they did it through false news sites. They think it was the collusion with the Trump campaign algorithms that were developed just to defeat her.
Well, you see, here we go again. We see the purpose of the founding fathers and the freedom of the press. They intended for the American people to be aware and advised when something like this transpired. So when somebody like Hillary Clinton comes on and starts giving her version of what happened, then you go to the news media the way it was designed to get the factual version of what happened.
Unfortunately, that's not the case anymore. Yeah, just the facts. Right.
Let's get the facts. I just wanted to just to the audience, you know, we even Al Franken said that she needs to move on, you know, and that's somebody that obviously is a tried and true liberal Democrat. CNN is even making fun of her. Okay. CNN said that's right.
The Russians cloaked Wisconsin so she couldn't find it on a map and campaign there. Right. I mean, that's how people are tired of hearing this.
I know I am. We could talk about this for a long time, but I hate giving her too much time, Ben, because she just won't go away. Well, what we can do is we can send her away by saying, hey, I heard enough of Hillary Clinton. What else is in the news today?
That's right. How about this? I've got some other stuff in the news. This is even worse. Everybody is probably well aware of what Kathy Griffin did when she held up a severed head with blood all over it that had the likeness of President Trump. Now, here's where it gets even worse, because there was such an outpouring of people were just shocked and they condemned it and they as well, they should have.
But listen to this. She lost her job at CNN. Half of her engagements at different comedy venues were canceled.
But this is where it gets even stranger. Not only did she turn around and get an attorney, Lisa Bloom, who's Gloria Allred's daughter, so you know how she learned to practice law as an ambulance chaser. She got on national television on Friday and held a press conference. And guess what, Ben?
One of the good things liberals are good at, you know, they're good at being. She wept. She is so upset.
She is so upset, so upset. She went on and on that the city president of the United States and his grown children and the first lady are personally, I feel, trying to ruin my life forever. Yeah.
The president of the United States didn't have anything else to do but go after one little unheard of comedian. Yeah. Had you ever heard of her before she got up and did this thing with Trump? Oh, yes, I had. I just I knew she was, you know, you know, kind of a B-lister, as they say in Hollywood. But this gets even worse. This is America, she said, and you shouldn't have to die for a joke.
The death threats I'm getting, they're constant and they're detailed and they're serious. Well, she was the one to sit up there with a picture of a decapitated president. Yeah, that's true. She did. She did. And so all of a sudden, guys, she's calling our president and his family bullies. And she said, if I don't stand up and say this, I'm afraid there's going to be some 12-year-old nerdy girl like me in Oak Park, Illinois, who's going to maybe be watching me to see what I do. And this bully, this president of all people, is going to come after me. I'm not laying down.
Amazing. Is that the worst? That is the spin.
That is the mother of all spins, isn't it? I literally, it's just disgusting. It's disgusting that they even gave her air time to put this out there on the airwaves.
I swear. There's some people, including Kathy Griffin, and then others I've encountered recently, let's say this week, that are making a habit of being a victim. When you do something like that, you should expect that people are going to be outraged because it was disgusting.
And the president is not bullying her. They all just got to Twitter and the first lady put out a very matter-of-fact statement about what that did to her and her family and, most importantly, their 11-year-old son that saw that on national television. Can you imagine that? I can't. I can't even.
It's beyond disgusting. As you know, the first lady, at the end of her statement, said that you have to question somebody's mental health that would do that. And I agree with that. That was not funny. And Jim Carrey came out and defended her saying that they're the last line of defense. Let's face it, Ben, you and I have said this over and over again on this show. Those Hollywood leftist liberals have no idea what's going on in this country and what's going on in the world. And their perception of reality is so skewed and so far off from reality, it's literally laughable.
I have no question about that. And when you just consider how far they've come, just consider the word liberal. At one point in time, the liberals in this country were the Republicans because the liberals were the ones that were in favor of civil rights. And the Republicans were the civil rights party for African Americans. They're the ones who were for the freedom of all the people. Then all of a sudden, when the Democrats came on and the media got a hold of this, they changed it and the Republicans became what the Democrats formerly were, conservatives.
And the conservative Democrats suddenly became liberal Democrats. And they wanted people to believe that it was the liberals that were in favor of rights for the privileges and for the citizenry, not the conservative Republicans. Yeah, that's right. That's right. And they've managed to over the years because they keep saying something and over and over again to propagate the lie that they are the ones that are for rights.
When you see them react this way over big things, little things, and anything in between, they're all about squashing and free speech. Oh, no question about that. No question about that. No question there.
Go ahead. Well, it's called brainwashing. That's right. That's exactly right. That's exactly right.
It is brainwashing. And Kathy Griffin should just literally be ashamed of herself. So there's a couple other things that I wanted to cover. We always try to, you know, have something that's a little bit laughable at the end because, you know, sometimes this news gets a little overwhelming. And so you're not going to believe this.
A California woman. I mean, Ben, you remember Jelly Belly? Former President Reagan made them famous because... Oh, absolutely. Right? And I've been there for many events when I was living in California. And it literally is like a Mecca for conservatives. All Reagan memorabilia there.
So much history is there. And so, believe it or not, listen to this. Talk about being a victim.
A California woman is suing the makers of Jelly Belly, claiming she was tricked into believing one of the company's candy products was free of sugar. Only in America. Is that just... I can't even.
I can't even believe it. Yeah. Yeah. She is. She's.
Yeah. No reasonable consumer. This is what Jelly Belly said. No reasonable consumer could have been deceived by sport beans labeling, which is another label they have.
Comas could not have seen the evaporated cane juice, which obviously is sugar, without also seeing the product sugar content on the nutritional facts panel. Well, you don't expect people to read that stuff, do you? Is this insane? Unbelievable. Okay. Just, what is wrong with people?
Next you're going to hear somebody suing the makers of giant candy because they didn't know that had sugar. Come on. Alright. But we're going to be right back.
Hey everyone, it's Marc Anthony. I know I keep talking about my pillow, but that's because it's truly changed my life. I've had over seven spinal surgeries on my neck and back and I've never been able to get a good night's sleep. But now after trying my pillow, I'm getting the best night's sleep that I've ever had before.

And joining us today is Doug Giles. Doug is the founder of Plash Daily and also his most recent book, The Ephemerization of the American Male and the Coloring Book for College Crybabies. Doug, are you surprised by what Kathy Griffin did? No, I'm not and thanks for having me on Marc.
It's always good to have you. Yeah, the left is clearly unhinged. I mean, she's the last and albeit the most egregious but in a long line of liberal CEOs, quote unquote journalists, award winning quote unquote journalists.
Apoplectic Congresswomen like Sheila Jackson Lee and other lawmakers, God help us, like Maxine Waters, who have to some degree or less vehemently railed against Trump. Now, what Kathy did with the whole beheading video and pic, again, that was clearly she was coloring outside of the picture. Outside of the lines there. Yeah, definitely.
Yeah, she's a she's a piece of work. But, you know, that said, I'm all for political humor. I'm all for, you know, difference of opinion, making a horse race. I'm a big First Amendment freedom of expression guy. Thank God for it.
And I have my Second Amendment rights to back up that First Amendment thing that's afforded to us. That's right. But that's that's just gross.
It wasn't even funny. It was, you know, more on the lines of ISIS. And I guarantee there's some Kathy Griffin groupie. I think there's like three or four of them left. That's that's probably, you know, hearing voices right now, Mark, telling him to actually carry out what Kathy portrayed on film. And what we've learned, I have as an artist, life imitates art. Yes. I wonder if Danny Pearl's family think that's funny or who's the other guy that was beheaded by ISIS?
Yeah, it's just completely tacky, man. And she has been, as you well known, punished now by CNN. They cut her off the New Year's Eve bash with a sassy Anderson Cooper. But here's my prediction, Mark. I think she's going to get her own Netflix series.
Probably going to be hailed as some kind of protagonist for freedom of expression. So I think the left's that demented. No, they are that demented. They are that demented.
And, you know, you I know you agree with this, Doug. The only reason she made that apology video is she saw the backlash. She was trying to save her job with CNN, right? Yeah, you know, I would like to think that that wasn't also pre-planned, but I don't know if she's that smart, Mark, that she knew the fallout.
She had the thing scripted. She didn't look like that. She was that remorseful. Her hair looked very remorseful. I haven't seen hair like that, brother, since that there's like this demonic Raggedy Ann movie from like 1978 came out after Halloween or something. And it's like, I know I've seen that face before.
I've no, I've seen that hair before. Maybe this is a way that she can get her foot in the door. Should they reboot that old demonic Raggedy Ann flick? Because that haggard washed up nasty lardy hagfish that's had way too much plastic surgery would be the scariest beastesses of all of all the talent that's out there in Hollywood right now. She looked like just a scarecrow. I guarantee you could put that chick like in the middle of a cornfield and nothing would come in there to wail on that maze, not crows, not wild hogs, nothing. Matter of fact, they ought to, somebody right now, maybe I can do it. I got a couple of investors that have deep pockets. Maybe we could start the production line of the Kathy Griffin scarecrow and farm it out to all these farm to food foodies that are out there.
That's a great idea. But going back to a serious note, I mean, what, what she did, you mentioned Danny Pearl. It's now, it's now come out that, that there were members of ISIS using that picture right now. So our enemies really literally right now are laughing at us because we don't fully understand how evil they really are. And she's become a mouthpiece for them, Doug.
Yeah, no, no. I've seen the, I've seen the ISIS videos and like you said, they've co-opted and you know, look, I, I get, I, my undergraduate work, very liberal arts college. I've done stuff with people that completely and radically and fundamentally disagree with me. I could easily become one of them because of all the foibles that are in the Republican party and the absurdities and inequities that are part and part of that aspect of the swamp. But, um, I don't know if I could ever go for like, Hey, let's behead Obama or let's show Michelle, you know, uh, decapitated and I'm holding on to one of her many weaves that she wore the last eight years.
I didn't, you know, the unhinged ness of, of the left really blows me away satire. Great. Yeah.
Make fun of them on Jimmy Fallon. Sure. Yeah. You know, Jimmy Kimmel, they were going after Trump, uh, which also notice was very interesting last night, man, because as you will know, this thing, uh, just exploded and everybody and their dogs talking about it or should be because it's so bad as you pointed out. But you know what? Nary Pete from, from Kimmel Fallon didn't even mention it, but I guarantee if Mark Anthony, uh, the severed head of Barack Obama, brother, you would be, uh, it would, it would be a cacophony 24 seven, three 65 until you were pushed to commit suicide or turn yourself into the cops. Yeah, no kidding.
And you brought this up that, you know, the Jihadi leaders, those teachers, they have their children holding up separate heads before they even reached the age of 10. And you've got somebody that has a platform like Kathy Griffin, but the fact that she did that, and then, I mean, I, you know what, Doug, I watched the video when she was, I'm sure you saw it when she was talking to her photographer and she said, we're going to end up going to prison for this. She knew full well what she was doing. She knew what she was doing, that what she did, she wasn't trying to be quote funny at all. She knew what she was doing. That's why, that's why I think it's a career move and that's why I'm still gonna, you know, I might have to buy you steak dinner or something if I'm wrong, but I'm still gonna float the balloon that this will probably end up making her career when everybody's like, Oh man, she's finished.
You know, the left loves this kind of violent rhetoric towards Trump. They're going to hail it as, you know, she's, she's the freedom of expression, warrior princess. She's the zeitgeist. She's everything that we need to be. And she could become the poster child for, oh, the resistance. The resistance. Yes.
Yeah. So, um, you know, again, you know, she's claiming, look, I'm a comedian, you know, clearly wasn't funny. It's like Cyclops looking into the sun could see that it clearly wasn't funny. I think it's strategic, just like you said, what she brought up saying, you know, it's probably going to put us in prison. I think this is the way that she took her, her D minus unfunny supposed comedic backside and catapulted into a, you know, the, the stratosphere again to get people to look at me, film me, talk to me, interview me, you know, because it's a, I think they're that warped. That's secret service stuff, man. Cause again, I got, I guarantee, I don't know if you remember this guy, but it was a rodeo clown who got a smiling Obama mask can do rodeo clown in any way. Yeah.
That's right. And the DOJ started an investigation into this guy. I got, I got rebuked one time, uh, by this station. I was doing an interview on and I, I used, uh, Obama's middle name and they're like, you can't say who's saying, do you need to come back on and you need to apologize. I go, that's his name and you can kiss my backside. I'm not going to get on and apologize.
You gotta be kidding me. You'll need to wear a clown suit also. You want me to unload my 401k on you?
What else do you need? Doug, it's always good to have you join us. Thanks for coming back on brother. Right on. Stay ready, Mark. All right, man. Thank you.
This is the Patriot, the preacher. We'll be right back. My pillow has made a believer out of me. Now you may say, what makes my pillow so great? Well, my pillow lets you adjust it to your exact needs, regardless of your sleep position. And it stays that way all night long. You'll be glad you did. We're back with the Patriot and the preacher and joining us today is Congressman Ken Buck. He is the author of a brand new book, Drain the Swamp.
How corruption is worse than you think. Congressman, welcome to the show. Thank you very much. It's great to be with you. It's good to have you. So Congressman, I have a question for you.
This is from what I've seen of this book and what I've been able to read. Are you worried about the repercussions of calling out your fellow members of the house? I have to tell you, Mark, I didn't have any friends in DC when I got there.
I'm not going to have any friends when I leave and I'm okay with that. My role with DC and my role in Congress is to try to reform Congress. The incentive structure is wrong. It is a structure that is weighted towards avoiding tough votes and towards creating more debt that we can put on our grandchildren's credit cards. And that's not why I went there and I'm going to fight to change that incentive structure. And that's why we are where we are with over $20 trillion in debt right now, isn't it?
That's correct. And $100 trillion in unfunded liabilities. That's a number people just don't focus on and both of those numbers are a big part of the story. So when we look at, you know, we always want to look at who's responsible for this. So this swamp that has gotten deeper and deeper, so who's to blame? Is it Democrats or Republicans or both? We have a bipartisan bankruptcy going on right now. The Democrats spend too much money and they spend it a little bit more towards their friends. The Republicans spend too much money and they spend it a little bit more towards their friends.
But the truth is that it took both parties to get us where we are today and we are not going to change that unless we change the institution. We send good people to Washington, D.C. They get the swamp. They know it's a swamp. They get into the swamp and they think it's a hot dump.
And they just continue to enjoy the environment. So what, you know, as you've done your research for this book, how do we drain this swamp? What needs to be done? Well, I go through in the first 10 chapters an example in each chapter of something that is corrupt in Washington, D.C. In the last three chapters I talk about the solutions. And one of the solutions I talk about is a constitutional convention of the states. The Constitution in Article 5 gives us two ways to amend the Constitution. The first way is what we have done throughout our country's history where Congress enacts an amendment and sends it to the states for ratification. The second way is a convention of the states where the state legislatures petition Congress to convene a convention.
And that convention takes up very limited issues. And I'm suggesting a balanced budget amendment and term limits. And I think that if we had those two things we would go a long ways towards stopping the swamp and stopping the kinds of corruption that we see. As you went and looked at this situation, did all the research that you've done, what is the most shocking abuse of power that you've seen?
What is the most shocking abuse? I'll tell you, when I got there I was told that I had to pay dues to the National Republican Congressional Committee to serve on a committee. And so I served on a B committee and I had dues of $200,000 every two years to serve on a B committee. I serve on an A committee now and I have dues of $450,000 every two years to serve on an A committee.
The A committees are the more powerful committees with broader jurisdiction like appropriations and ways and means and energy and commerce. And what most members do to raise those dues is they hold receptions from Washington D.C. and invite lobbyists and have those lobbyists donate money to the NRCC. And by the way, the Democrats have the exact same dues structure for their members. But the lobbyists that donate money now expect something and the chairman expects something. And so there is a pressure to conform on the committee and it is really a corrupting influence. And I wanted to make sure the public understood that we should not have a price tag for a public office, a price tag to a private, partisan organization for a public office. That is just wrong.
That's absolutely wrong. So really you're paying for the price of admission to be on that committee and then you have to turn around and be a fundraising arm. Congressman, you've been in Congress.
You've seen how this machine works. You're now watching the president attempt to follow through on his promise to drain the swamp. Is he taking the necessary steps so far to start that process? You know, it's very early to tell, but I think he's doing a great job in appointing his cabinet. And the Secretary of Education, the Administrator for the Environmental Protection Agency, the Director of the Office of Management and Budget, all conservatives who really have lived outside of those agencies and are walking into those agencies with an eye towards what works and what doesn't work and what do we need to cut and what's going to help America in this area the most.
And so I'm very encouraged that the president is draining the swamp by appointing conservatives to agencies and making sure that the responsible person at that agency is moving in the right direction. I think that's the most important thing the president could do at the start of his administration and he's done it. What other things can the president do, in your opinion, in this next year to take some big steps in getting this process moving forward? Well, I think the president has also issued an executive order limiting the ability of someone to lobby the administration after they leave the administration.
I think that's also important. And I think the president sets a tone. If he talks consistently about cutting waste, fraud and abuse, I think that that will permeate through the ranks of the federal agencies and it will be taken more seriously. As he sets that as a priority, I think that we'll see the results.
No, it's true. And I think the overall attitude is changing the way people are looking at the government. So, Congressman, I know that you're a man of faith and you've watched as this president has come into office.
He certainly is not being bashful about his faith. How do you think that that changes the way the country is looking at the office of the president? Well, I think that this president has sort of been at the National Prayer Breakfast and he has spoken there. I know the vice president spoke at a rally for life. I think it is an important message to the faith community that they have a friend.
They have two friends in the White House and they are listening and doing their very best. I think that God blessed this country when it was founded. I think he has continued to bless it in spite of the fact that we have often turned our back on God. And I think ultimately that this will help America unite because I think that people of faith will understand that we are not being separated off as we have been in some past administrations.
Yeah, I agree. Congressman, since you sit on the Subcommittee for Immigration and Border Security, what have you seen so far or what do you know that's coming down the line that is going to change our stance on border security and immigration? Are you encouraged so far?
I am. I think that the president has committed to securing the border and I think that is the first step in really solving this problem. Until we secure the border, we have no reason to believe that we won't have this problem continue for the next decade. So it is an important first step.
I have no idea why it's so controversial. I would think everybody would recognize the need to make sure that we aren't allowing drugs or terrorists or people into this country who are not welcome, who are not choosing to allow into our country. Every country, every industrialized nation in the world has an immigration and as a border security requirement. So I think it's a step in the right direction and I think it is important that we continue with good work programs here, as well as ultimately decide how we want to deal in a compassionate way with the people who maybe came here illegally but aren't legal now in their presence in this country. And we've got to do that, but only after we secure the border. Agreed. And I agree with you that it does only make sense.
So I just have one question for you. When you see the illegal immigrants, because that's what they are, they're not undocumented, they're illegal, I'm sure you agree with that term, when you see them here and they're protesting that they have rights and that we should look the other way, to somebody that was a district attorney, how does that make you feel? Do you sometimes just shake your head when you see these protests going on? I do shake my head when I see the protests because I think a lot of what they're protesting about is not accurate. And I go to a lot of town halls and I have people stand up and they're so angry and it just has to, I feel bad for them because we've got to get a common set of facts before we can have an intelligent discussion about how to solve problems in this country.
Agreed. That's sometimes the biggest problem is that one side is operating on a set of facts that just don't exist. Congressman, before we go, what do you think our listeners are hearing about draining the swamp and what you've been able to uncover? What can the listeners do to help drain the swamp? I talk in the book about the fact that we need citizens to stand up and to go to their state legislators who are very accessible and make sure that we have a petition from a state legislature to Congress to hold a convention in the states. To go to town hall meetings with their Congressman and talk about the ethics rules in Congress so that we don't have a pay-to-play system to make sure that we have transparency in our spending so we can hold people accountable for this debt that we are now looking at. So I outline in the last three chapters a number of things that citizens can do and should do in order to help make this country better, to reform the system. Very good. Congressman Ken Buck, thank you for joining us.
The name of the book is Drain the Swamp, how Washington corruption is worse than you think and you can find it out there in Amazon and I'm assuming anywhere else. I love the name of your show. I will be a good Christian.
You're going to be very proud of me and I certainly will also be a good patriot. It's a great name for a show. I heard you have a great show. Thank you very much. Thank you, Mr. President. We appreciate that very much and it has been an honor to have you on the show. And we're back with the patriot and the preacher. We want to thank Doug Guiles and obviously Congressman Ken Buck. That was an interesting interview. That guy is on a mission to help clean up the swamp and we need more people like him in Congress.
That man is amazing. A good Christian man, a former district attorney that decided he was going to serve the people of his state in this country. So we're grateful for him and what he's doing there.
Absolutely. And you know sometimes I think we forget, Mark, that those people in Washington, D.C., Congressmen, Senators and even the President are there to serve the people. We put them there by voting them into office. They are responsible to us and consequently if we don't like what they're doing, they have to come back every two, four or six years and ask for our permission to go back and continue to represent us. But if we don't get involved in the political process, then most of those people get up there in those lifetime appointments and get to doing stuff that we don't agree with and that's not the way the founding fathers didn't visualize it.
That's right. No, they did not visualize it that way at all. They didn't visualize career politicians in office for 25, 30 plus years and with nothing to show for it except that they lined their pockets and that's really what's happening more often than not, unfortunately. Exactly. That's why the one house is called the House of Representatives.
What does that mean, Mark? The House of Representatives. They are there to represent the people and their interests, what their wishes are.
Exactly. That's right, but we just heard from Congressman Ken Buck that those men and women have to pay a fee to their respective party to be on committees. That's how corrupt it is in Washington DC. Well, that is because we have allowed it to be that way by just letting guys go back, not paying any attention and the media is complicit in that and they don't really tell the American public what's really going on up there. So, the truth of the matter is, half the time we don't really know what the truth and facts of the matter are.
Well, that's right. That's true because they move so quickly and sometimes as we know, Ben, we've seen this and the audience has seen this, they'll go and vote on something at 11 o'clock or midnight when nobody's watching. It's time that we demand better from all of our leaders. It's great to say we're going to drain the swamp, but the actions need to be taken and a lot of it is being taken right now. Thank God that President Trump is fulfilling a lot of his campaign promises and as I mentioned, Ben, one of them was to pull out of the Paris Accord and I just want to share with the audience the kind of misinformation and twisting of facts that are out there.
The ACLU, which stands for the American Civil Liberties Union, so civil liberties, that means there's probably supposed to be backing up the Constitution, but what they really are are an arm for the leftist fascists out there. This is what they tweeted out the day we pulled out of the Paris Accord. Pulling out of the Paris Agreement would be a massive step back, listen to this, for racial justice and an assault on communities of color across the U.S. Excuse me, I'm laughing here and I'm sorry, but it sounds to me like you said that somehow voting against pollution is going to set back racial relations. Yeah, it's a step back for racial justice and an assault on communities of color across the U.S. Yeah, yeah.
Okay, so just in case you were wondering, black folks have a problem breathing, have more of a problem breathing polluted air. Yep, that's right. I'm sorry. Well, I know it is laughable at this point now, isn't it? It's ridiculous. It's so ridiculous. And unfortunately, they're really not called on what they say.
I also want to bring up just a couple of other tidbits before we go. I can't believe the ACLU says something like that, but that makes you understand their frame of mind, right, Ben? They get in the middle of ridiculous lawsuits and they really do. Yeah, they do.
They really do. So, if you want to know if the Democrats are getting nervous about this lawsuit with what happened with the leaks and how they fixed the election for Hillary Clinton, imagine this. So, it's been reported. You're just not going to believe this one, too. It's been reported that Debbie Wasserman Schultz allegedly called the law firm investigating the DNC and used a special voice modulator, a voice changer to call and ask questions. It probably would have worked out, except she forgot to block her caller ID.
Professor themselves would be wise. Yep, there you go. You know, I got to tell you, they make our jobs so easy. I don't have to dig that far to find these kinds of stories. It's all true, ladies and gentlemen. We're not making this up.
I wanted to share something because I really think that it's very, very appropriate right now. This is from Mark Twain. Do not fear the enemy, for your enemy can only take your life. It is far better that you fear the media, for they will steal your honor.
That awful power, the public opinion of a nation, is created in America by a horde of ignorant, self-complacent simpletons who failed at ditching and shoemaking and fetched up in journalism on their way to the poorhouse. I think he's pretty clear on how he feels about the media. I don't even know what else to say about them, but you know, the truth is what's important right now. Oddly enough, I think that something else is really important as we talk to this audience, which is primarily a Christian audience out there, Ben.
We ask every day and every time we end this show for people to pray for this country. Some people might be thinking, is this country really the greatest miracle out there? I know Ben and I agree that it is. Our story is phenomenal, isn't it? Absolutely. There's no question about that.
You can look back over centuries of time and never find anything to compare to what the United States of America is or was. Should I say was? Or still is to a certain extent.
Still is to a certain extent, but it's certainly been diminished. Sometimes you say, okay, well, what did they think? This is one of those quotes that I think says a lot. And it was from, well, it was from a founding father that definitely agreed that what we had and what we have and what we are, well, is something to really, really take a look at and be grateful for. Dr. Benjamin Rush said this. It's a profound statement.
I do not believe that the Constitution was an offspring of inspiration, but I'm perfectly satisfied that the union of the states in this form and its adoption is as much the work of divine providence than any of the miracles recorded in the Old and New Testament. Wow. Amen to that.
Yeah. Amen to that is right. We want to thank everybody for joining us. We have an amazing lineup of guests, as usual. Next week, we're excited to let everybody know that we have Senator Mike Lee who will be joining us.
He has a brand new book out called Written Out of History, The Forgotten Founders Who Fought Big Government. So we're excited to have Senator Mike Lee join us and Melissa Francis is going to be joining us as well. We're excited to have her come back on. So as we always do before we close out the show, we always say a prayer for our nation, for our listeners and for our president, Ben. Father, we do. We come with great gratitude and with great boldness to thank you for the privilege and honor of living in the United States of America. We pray for our leaders.
We pray for those people in positions of responsibility. We pray also for those of us who have the right and the privilege of going down and electing those people who will represent us that the decisions that they make will reflect your plans and your purposes for this great nation. We thank you for all the privileges, all the freedoms that we've enjoyed over the past decades. We pray for your continued blessings on America. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We bold and declare and gravely say God bless America. We thank you for it all in Jesus' name. Amen. Amen. Thank you, Ben.
And so until next week, we'll be back with Senator Mike Lee and Melissa Francis. And in the meantime, continue to pray for your nation. Pray for our leaders that God continues to protect us and help us rebuild this country back to where it used to be. In the meantime, I am Mark Anthony, your patriot. And I'm Ben Kinzer, your preacher. God bless you and God bless America.
