Hidden treasures of the 119th Psalm.

So we are going on a treasure hunt and the gold we are seeking in this treasure hunt is actually the face of God, pure light. So join us taking this deep dive mining with King David in the 119th Psalm. So today we get to dig in mining into the 14th verse of the bet section, the eight verses that have to do with the letter bet here in the 119th Psalm. And so this verse reads, I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies as much as in all riches. So we've leveled up with King David in the 12th verse when he said, blessed are there, he said to Barak, and he asked to be taught his statues. In other words, those who have been given will be given more.

And then in the last episode, we talked about how critical to a house our mouths are and the things that we say that build up, not tear down. And so he's done that by declaring all the judgments of thy mouth. And so now we, we interestingly turn to rejoicing again, as we're getting close to landing on the whole bet section. Once again, we find King David where he seems to love to be, is rejoicing in this time, he's rejoicing in the way of thy testimonies. And so it's really cool when you think about it that the testimony when King David brought the Ark of the Covenant, right, that was the Ark of the Testimony. And so in that were the tablets of the Ten Commandments, there was the staff that had butted and the manna. So there was all sorts of things in there that were witnesses. That literally when it talks about rejoicing before his testimonies, I mean, nobody could say that I don't think it's cool as King David because you know, his wife gave him quite a hard time about it the way he rejoiced in the way. And so it's kind of interesting that he was bringing, in fact, I think it's tremendously interesting that he was clearly rejoicing in the way. And again, this word Derek, we've talked about even from the very first verse of the psalm, because we know that Jesus is the way he is the narrow gate.

And so here's a very narrow way. And here he's saying that in far as his house is concerned, you know, it needs to have this testimony well, beautifully, as you might imagine, since we all are temples of the Holy Spirit, we get to have a holy of holies, we get to have Ark of the Testimony right there in our very house in our very hearts. And so I've taught on this many times, because I think it's absolutely amazing. What God put into the ark there for King David, he put into each of our hearts, right, because he is in there he is the way the truth and the life. But if our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit, where's the holy of holies? Well, it's in our heart, which is clearly the house for God. And so inside of our arcs, are these witnesses to the things that he's done. He's written his law in our hearts.

And we've talked about that many times through this bet section. But there's also the staff that butted. And it's one of the most beautiful things that's in the arc from my perspective, because the branch or the rod that budded is an almond branch, because the almond is the first fruits in Israel.

So the first thing that you're going to see bloom in Israel will be an almond. And so this staff that butted is a picture of the first fruits. And the staff, of course, is once again, Jesus, who is leading in our hearts. In other words, how important to our house is it that we have Jesus, who's actually in charge and guiding us with this staff, right? His rod and his staff comfort us? Well, guess what? It's right there in your heart.

And it's the staff that butted because he is the first fruits. It's an amazing thing. Of course, we've talked about that he's hidden the word in our heart. But then there's the manna.

And when we get the manna, if we go hunting for it every morning, and you only get enough for that day, interestingly, and I don't know about you, but hopefully these mining expeditions have been part of your manna. They sure have been for me, as each day this man is made new. And so here, he is rejoicing later is going to guard the testimonies. But right now, he's rejoicing in those testimonies. In other words, he's dancing before the Lord, you can picture the scene right as he's coming into Jerusalem with the ark there.

And here, this is critical to our houses, right? That we again have this beautiful like, don't you think it's just remarkable that the ark disappeared, you know, right after Jesus kind of appeared on the scene. So now guess what the reason that is, is because the Ark of the Covenant is in you. I'm just telling you, he had written on your hearts, the staff that's butted in there, Jesus is in there, and the manna that we get made new every morning. I mean, this particular verse is one that I simply rejoice so much that God showed me these things through studying the ark for years and years and years. So the Ark of the Testimony here, again, as John Bunyan pointed out, that our testimony will include things that we were an eyewitness to in our life, things that we saw God do, because those things are the things that tell us he's going to do it again. And that's often in his word, but it's often in things that he did in your very life.

Like in my case, like when I was struggling with the brain abscess, and the nurse came in and held my hand, and I sensed that that was God. Those are things that I will never forget. Those are treasured in my heart. And I rejoice before the Lord in those more than in all riches, right? There's nothing better than that than God. I mean, he is, simply put, our inheritance, right? Bigger and better than all riches. And King David understood this, and here we can pray with him. Lord, we have rejoiced in your testimonies more than in all the ways, and all in the way of all riches. We'll be digging again tomorrow. Thanks for listening.
