Leviathan in Job 41:33 has no fear, which is a horror I never want to experience as this fear is a lifeless fear

Did you ever wonder? Did you ever wonder?

I do. Did you ever wonder? Why the sun always rises, but the stars never fall? Why dry land is never satisfied by water? And why fire never says enough?

Enough. So today on Bible Wonders, we're going to wonder about a different kind of no fear. Again, we're still in Job 41 talking about Leviathan slash Satan. And in verse 33, right prior to the very end of the chapter, God tells Job something quite amazing, really. And that verse reads, Upon the earth there is none his like, who is made without fear. Well, it's just an amazing verse because there's two things that are radically different than the way we normally understand these words, especially biblically, because when you think of the word earth, like when God made the heavens and the earth, that is one kind of word.

But that's not the word that God uses here when he describes the earth. What he actually is saying is, upon the dust there is none his like. And you might remember that he was going to crawl in the dust on his belly. And you may also remember that God created man out of dust. And not coincidentally, you know, Satan would eat dust all of his life. And also when God was explaining to Abraham what his generations were going to be so plentiful, like the dust, you know, it couldn't be counted. And this seems to be Satan's particular favorite is to eat Abraham's dust, so to speak. So when he's telling Job this, upon the dust, there is not his like. And then when he says, who is made without fear, that word fear is not the word that you would see in the fear of the Lord.

It's a completely different word. And essentially to break that down in Hebrew is really a wonderful exercise because the first letter is a het, which means life. I mean, it's the first letter in the word life in Hebrew, a pretty famous word. And it's a beautiful letter because it has to do with reflecting God.

It has to do with God's spark being reflected in mankind. But what he's saying is in no way, shape, or form does Satan reflect God. And in him there is no life.

In fact, it's the opposite. In him there's nothing but death. And that second letter is the tav, which, you know, in the ancient, ancient Hebrew text is a cross. And what it's saying is it also means the end of the story. That for Satan, he's not there at the end of the story.

He's been thrown into the lake of fire. So when it says that he doesn't have any fear, what it means almost is he's got nothing to lose. And so he has no fear because he has nothing to lose.

He has lost everything. So clearly there's different earth and there is different fear. God protect me from a fear where I've got nothing else to lose, especially not my fear of you. Because the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
