Christian Car Guy
Welcome to the Christian Car Guy radio show. The cop show dedicated to helping Christians buy and sell cars by the book, not the blue book. Now the orange book, but by God's book, the Bible called the Christie car guy with your questions. 186-6342 that's one 866-34-TRUTH 7884 as being a Christian have to do with buying a car you're about to find out is your host Ronnie Gilmore as gas prices retreated a little bit at the end of the year. Just what SUVs sales ladies sword so many SUVs sales. Now they've created five segments just to count them small medium large luxury and crossover with almost 4 million sales last year why you think SUVs are sport utilities fell like they do.
You may remember my father was a Jeep dealer in Albuquerque New Mexico when I was certain the drive so I tell you why I think SUVs sell and that's because the human race craves adventure yes there is a lot of other reasons but at the heart of it.
I think we all crave adventure salon today were going to go off road, so to speak. I know you I know you have that off-road adventure and we'd love to hear your and of course, if you've got some offloading typically black like you to share those as well.
You can call in at 866-348-7884. You might just save someone's weekend or even their life with that. You know we've course, we want to hear your off-road adventure.
You know that time you took your dad's truck is left is a true story when I was about 15 years old. My buddy just got his drivers license and we went up to the heinous wilderness which is in New Mexico and his father's four-wheel-drive and they had a fishing road out there that you would take that was sent my taken many times my father I didn't think it was in a big deal but it was right on the edge of the mountain.
Well, he did not drive very well and it started to rain on the way home and that road got really slick when we slip slighted right off the side of the mountain. Seriously. And you know those pictures you see in the truck going off the edge of a cliff. Will that was us was one of those adventures as you're going down, you know, missing the truck rocks and trees and all this and go boom boom boom down the hill you thinking for sure this is not going be good and of course a tree eventually did stop us and then were stuck as we could be in itself uncertainly. You know this was in 1970, 71, somewhere in there is no such thing as a self on back then and who knows if you had reception up there anyway so we start not with me. There was hurt except his father's truck so there we were in the middle of nowhere and along comes this Jeep after even walking about an hour and 1/2 and we're like no man if you could just had to Doberman pinscher's in the back of this, all those things but I we know you've got a memory like that something that you know God brought into your life and your young you took that off-road adventure and this is what happened you call us 866-34-TRUTH 878-848-6634 truth. Of course we have a pair of bills here to help us out this morning we got Bill mix in our Christian insurance guy will get what you got forced. We will discuss uninsured motorist claims collision and comprehensive claims, particularly when it fits into which category any of our listeners been involved in an uninsured motorist claim would love for you to call in and share that experience with all right this is those wait a week for those questions about insurance, whether it's a rate ripoff questionable quotes deductible dilemma adjuster fluster policy predicaments call Bill 866-34-TRUTH 87884 and of course it is the first Saturday of the month makes it Jesus labor love Saturday and we have Bill Kratz here with SR Carolina mobile auto mechanic, also a Christian mechanic that often tear so it is also a good day.
If you got that technical issue. It mechanical problem to call into the show, you call us on that bill you got some forced yells discuss the coolant temperature gauges and lights in the cars and how critical it is on your car and you know surround get a few tips from a pair bills and course we got the Baha'i adventure but also in the next segment were getting an update from our Jesus labor love volunteer Vic Hill on a fluke wavering in North Carolina sorta be hearing from him and then on our praise about the real black book that's coming up the end of the show. That's where we search the Bible for hidden treasure. Cry out for discernment, lift up your voice for understanding many of you know, I've been studying the song of Solomon for several months as we've gone there a few times on the show and like so many books that touch your heart you know you you hate for a day and but the ending still hold something very precious and believe me that's the case. In the end of Solomon's love story. What were the last words, the lever spoke but never spoke to each other and what those words mean to us. And that's coming up the end of the show in our appraisal by the real black book.
I am Ronnie Gilmore, the Christian car guy 35 years in retail automobile business, but more importantly your brother in Christ Christian car guy show is changing the way people look at their cars and need to be paid for no debt, you know, I watch people for 35 years going to crazy amounts of card debt.
It's real heart breaker so working to try to help you in the show to stay out of that cars need tender loving care and they need a name like old red that was on one of my hundred and one New Year's resolutions last year's have you named your butt.
Anyway, you think about old tractors a been out in the elements since the 40s not only their still running, but I bet if you asked that armor.
He's got a name fro Betsy on the site. Cars need to be safe and driven safely. Wear your seatbelt, especially if you're going off-road that will help you stay in the car when you get on that incline like I've got a little story about that one time to seriously I got I was on the Jeep incident in Oregon. My father was a Jeep going to Mexico when I was on this really steep hill in New Mexico. As you may know, was covered in cactuses. Specifically, prickly pear cactus now not having at this time I was not the Christian car guy, so I was not wearing my seatbelt and I opened the door to inspect the cactuses that were right. And guess what, that I was on such an angle. I slipped right out of the seat you know what first right on the cat. I don't know how many of you've ever picked prickly pear workers out of yourself, but does have some to understand where your seatbelt speed if you're truly following Jesus. The he's he's in the car ahead of you. Write your knocking to be going by its estimated Americans waste 96 million gallons of gas a week on speeding and of course this is a live show. We'd love to hear your question about insurance or question of mechanical course we'd love to hear your off-road adventure experience today at 866348788486634 truth for the digitally gifted folks that can do that, we also want to mention all this information is in our website. Christian car guy.com, including all the stuff on the Jesus labor love all the outlets how you can get signed up single moms and widows free labor throughout the month. Now, not just on the first Saturday but we, highlighted on the first Saturday but it's free labor for single moms and widows and have a real need we need to say that because not just for any single mom ready. But when we check the references or whatever were looking for somebody really would have no other way to get this done and then we use our resources and we've got outlets 28 of them across the country and sometimes we find special outlets will talk about a little bit about that today on the labor love Saturday, but of course that's a Christian car guy.com and if you go there today.
Guess what, there's all sorts articles there on four-wheel-drive.
You know some off-road tips all sorts of neat stuff on how you might take your forever for that SUV that you bought now that they're so popular on an adventure and one of things I push that the website is the Jeep jamboree itself. If you own a Jeep then you can go on a Jeep jamboree which is an organized way to go with a bunch of people who are experts in four-wheel-drive syrup if you never done it before. They have not matured in a novice class where you can go out you know where they have trainers or to show you how to go Barack show you how to go through the river and through the woods and all that stuff and and it's a really need adventure on the novice trip which I've done a few times at the Jeep jamboree. I've done some villains but on the novice one, believe and not one day I arrived. I clocked it. We went all day long eight hours. We did not go 14 miles because we are in full will low the whole time. You just barely: so, but what an adventure over rocks through the woods and again all those resources. All information is it Christian car guy.com site and find out all about it. There again, we would love to hear your high country adventure 86634 truth 866-34-TRUTH 87884.
Now, Bill. You've done a fair amount of offloading yourself. Yes, my younger days I had a nice Toyota pickup that was lifted with a winching big tires and all that in one lesson I did learn as if you're gonna go for wheel and make sure you have a number of the local tow company that will come out to where you're at and get you or maybe I want my tips that that if the website is always go with another four wheeler if you can write because there's nothing like a good tow strap right and that's the other part. Make sure you have very little with you when you go is real.
I was used to go with a friend. He had a CJ five and I have my Toyota you get out there want to get bogged out like you have a chain or toaster calcium is getting away. It's a high country adventure series on the interesting part. I show plus we got our mobile mechanic in our insurance you call us with your questions. 86634878. High country adventure today on the Chris part one of you taking your SUVs and there's millions of mouth there when really taking it off road tell us about your venture. Maybe you saw some amazing night. We would love to hear from you. 866348788486634 truth that Bill. There was it not just that time, but there was another time you went hunting the Christmas tree you I was living with two guys in my younger single days and work for an airline. We decide they do more paper Christmas tree so they want to go home for Christmas tree. We went out and when the guy structures big Ford pickup truck with 44 inch tires on the deciders of tree.
They pulled off the road and run a gravel road. Next, the road was marsh a pull off the road level trunks truck sunk down in the marsh so that was a long adventure that evening all the way down to the bumper in the mud on the end of the bumper is expensive Christmas trip did you get the Gary that's the question is why bumper stood with the lift kit not the bumper was brought about 4 feet off the ground that sunk all the way down the bumper on the net marsh but just suck the axles and tires and all that none of you ever dug in marsh mode. It's not nice is not nice at all and and we know they can. It always helps to have another vehicle with you. Yes, it helps to have nor talk about a serious tow strap you don't want some little thing looks like a seatbelt right.
This was this was back in the, no cell phones also write sure we had a trying get a tow truck out there and in the first tow truck was a big help pull it out so nice adventure.
Well, it is Jesus labor love week and for those of you first-time listeners what that is is it's a program that we work with helping single moms and widows on the first Saturday of every month is how it started, and then we end up doing it all through the month because folks like Bill here some abnormal work on Saturdays and the ladies needed to help all through the month, so we now arrange it all the way through the month but it's free labor for single moms and widows and or other people that really have a need.
If you look on the website. There's other qualifications you know a family that's really been through a hard time we had. We had a family that lost a child in all their money through cancer and in the Lord provided a battery for these folks to get our driveway but we have those kind of things all the time and if you go to Christian car guy.com you'll see a great big banner that says Jesus labor love and if you click on that banner. It will take to a place to where you can fill out a form and you can tell us what you need is or if you got a friend or somebody you fill out some information and then that goes to our volunteer for kill, who was on the phone with us.
Now I do for quavering and Vic you we've had what five or six of them. Just this week. Great report great, but God volunteer their time and I hear from them all the time on the how tough it was get the job done and I thank you for coming back from the ladies that we work with working with widow right now. Her car fixed 268 and is limited income day on Social Security and that feels good. That's where I'm sitting on something made so long is really great to be able to offer a service like this to you know it's it's really cool for me because I know it is for you to use a lot of times these things, they look totally impossible. There's no way that working to be able to help this lady. There's no way we can be help this one and the one in Utah last week.
The lady with the needed $1200 with a transmission repair I made to seem like that. There's no way and and then the what happened wasn't in Vic you might turned any regular background but anyway that's okay. What happened was Brian Westwood with the Western Desert auto out there actually contacted transmission shop who doesn't want to be listed on the year who they just fix this ladies, and they don't necessarily want to be part of the program or whatever, but the Lord just provided in, and he's doing that you know it's it's in more than amazing thing to me, but we need more outlets that would Vic and we need wheat we need people to we have situations like Bill, you've got one right now where you've got an engine that was donated to you right right. We became in the lady didn't have any heat coming out of her heater core and we start doing the troubleshooting found out that she had blown head gasket on the engine. It's it's a nice Impala but it had over 2000 miles on the engine. There's no sense but head gaskets on an angel that many miles on so we actually contact some of our sources and one on your bullet donated the entire Internet Christian junkyard not Bobby donated the engine but you still need $800 for the other parts like saloon or on a rent source homework to do the labor course, but we need to know on some help with the parts because she needs a radiator at school though heater core bad poses belt centers. We will make it's only return the start of this lady that everything works the way, shouldn't she let out problems down the road so again if you're in a position to help anybody relieved. If you've got the repair shop or some like that we would really really appreciate on the labor love page there's a place for you to fill out another kind of form if you want to be in one of the people that work on these ladies, cars, or maybe want to give a one-time gift or something you just let us know through the email that email and expert their Christian car guy we will find a way to plug you and will waste only Vic will Vic if you got any others that we could be praying about that are practically tough right now.
I am in the pickup truck at about and that is a fuel pump for each tank and so we said, well, let's just get one of I call around trying to some guys that not knowing background on some of the mechanics probably as well as someone that would go to church with one of these fellows that have the mechanic I'm coming to find out where we can plan mechanic that can build a little bit of time and I can help us learn about somehow came from a different sort and after praying about it in and she did the same thing we got it. Got a goal in not through our program.
But I would love to have some more help. We made the people in Raleigh and in that situation in Richmond and Malik that Apple in Richmond, Virginia. Now you don't believe we've even got one down in the area around Columbia, South Carolina. We got one down around Savannah, Georgia, and we need help with. So anybody like that that you could email us. That would be really terrific.
Now I'll take it a couple minutes in listed people that we do have that are participating in this which are so awesome in advance North Carolina. We have Cox automotive in Enke Iowa. We have Enke transmissions and also in Johnson Iowa. We have minor wreck expressed in Albuquerque New Mexico we have southern Boulevard automotive repair in Charlotte. We have DML's automotive which they've done an awesome and all these guys have done an awesome job for the emails, been down there in Charlotte by himself, William Tickell lives in Burlington, North Carolina Chester body shop in Chester, Virginia GT imports in Clemens North Carolina.
All tune and lube is been awesome for us there in Richmond, Virginia Roy Hendrix automotive in Richmond Virginia.
Modern Toyota in Winston-Salem, Carolina mobile auto service bills auto clinic. In Winston-Salem Albury is mechanics service, and many more that we will list shortly a lot more Christian partnerships and country inventor today on the car guy radio show was your venture that time you took your dad. Whatever happened maybe it was a great thing you got to see the grand Teton's we'd love to hear from you. 866348788486634 truth again.
We've got a Christian insurance guy with us here in our Christian mobile mechanics. If you have any questions along those lines, please. We got lines open. We would love to hear from you.
Certainly, but moving on to some of these tips you know what what are some tips that that that this the old standby that you know we go by in the offloading world would be to drive as slow as possible and you can, write this one down driver slow as possible but as fast as necessary. That's gonna like writing tidy lefty Licia Billy Mineo that really says it all when it comes to really offloading you. Do you want to drive as slow as possible. That's why for low exists. That's what you don't want to go fast. There's nothing about that.
You don't want to email.
Obviously you can enjoy the scenery. But you don't want to come on up on something fast in any way shape or form. You can keep control of Eagle you didn't break things you have things go slow enough to the conditions lowercase creeper here and now and if the tire start to slip. That's when things go awry and in so if you're going really slow.
Then guess what been the tires aren't losing traction and you don't start digging yourself into that whole that you can't find yourself out so you can write that one down.
That's a great quote everybody in the four-wheel-drive world uses it. Driver slow as possible but as fast as necessary and is not a bad idea for snow driving. Either that's true is very true, because unfortunately one time here in North Carolina. I get behind people who are not aware of this and they don't drive as fast as necessary to go up that hill in your thinking you're not to make it. You're not going to make it you didn't make, so maybe you've got that four-wheel-drive tripper that high country adventure.
We'd love to hear from you but moving on.
We got here a few of these insurance tips to because we only have this one week a month with our Christian insurance got Bill. What if you force well I had a couple clients call in this week and I had to share the same thing over and over again, and thought we'd talk a little bit of that collision and comprehensive collision is when you collide with something or something collides with you. It can be a car. It can be a person on a skateboard. It can be a shopping cart, a tree, a building he can be a person not on a skateboard you run into something you've collided with and that collision including animals and animals.
An interesting situation when you collide with an animal you had the choice whether to put that under collision claim are comprehensive claim in most cases you would much rather go into the comprehensive column in some states, some companies call it other than collision which makes it a little bit easier to remember fire, theft or vandalism. Storm damage including flooded tree falling on it. These are all comprehensive. If you don't know that the other person has or hasn't had insurance and they get away. That's a hit and run a hit-and-run is always collision may in some cases the people don't have any insurance and in a lot of states we have something called uninsured and UIM, but in almost all circumstances. You've got to prove that the person may contact with you had no insurance. Jeff is a hit-and-run that didn't count somebody back send you initiate in the shopping center and drives away.
That's the collision. Klein and a few things I'd recommend you remember is that if you run into an animal, it's up to you to prove that it was an animal that you collided with the don't wash all the animal off the side of that car. If that animal attacks you and that dear Lee's dear imprints in the side of your vehicle.
Don't hose it off, make sure the deer stays attached to some degree when you go ahead. Check there's always plenty of their peers have a lot of hair and I like to leave their hair and the pain you go when you go hose it off, then it don't clean it off or you'll make a bad situation worse.
Right before Christmas my daughter back. One of my cars into another one of my cars creating two separate collision, be liable to yourself.
So we yourself you can't call it one climates to claims and to deduct. Luckily I had purchased collision on both cars and providentially I had chosen to purchase nationwide insurance act forgiveness so the price on my automotive bill insurance didn't go up when this happened which made for a much more wonderful Christmas that it could be another one. The old double the old double whammy. Well, we've got a collar on the phone my mom she may have a high country adventure for us. We want to hear yours at 866-34-TRUTH 87884. Happy new year again mom here that we learn off the road. I want to hear this to Bill and we were going bad New Mexico Mexico which is in their some serious mountain and we are going along perfectly fine New Mexico Hwy.
Dad said I know a shortcut through his famous last words I was driving when we pulled up so-called short side road. It started off as a paved road perfectly fine.
And as I drove further got side of E and then it became unpaved and became more narrowing my right hand for this dream. We didn't exactly have a car that was going to take those big rock to well so I was driving about 5 miles an hour and I kept saying gently turn around and Think I will be in no time. We had waiting for dinner because we were on a trip down. We drove this way I would say over an hour and 1/2 maybe two hours and we only pulled up over IPL and Mescalero Indian will address that is where I simply grant that they look like he was hurting finally pulled out into a little better maintained road and highway and there was this huge billboard way and we turned around to read it and it closed all through but was it was mom. We have to know know was it in fact a shortcut didn't come out.
It read those that we did get to Ruidoso but our friends were very worried, but it is the stuff that makes legends mom. We will never forget the shortcut that was been reminded to Bob a few times along the now country were not known. That's true, that is true. Everybody blowsy you know those New Mexico adventures. This just nothing quite like them. But we do have to give you another tip you know since were talking offloading here and in this is this is a biggie, especially if you're in the mountains drive directly up and down hills. I don't think that wow I'm to take this hill at an angle and make it easier bad choice. Very very bad choice.
That's one of those that can really get you hurt. If you're if it's too steep to go straight up. Then that's not until you want to climb use my father's jeep being advised that he gave me years ago that I was Gilbride never drive up a hill that you don't think you can back down and never go into an opening that you don't think that you could back out of and if you don't know what's on the road up ahead of you, which many times you pop over the top of the hill and the angle so steep you can't see over the hood don't keep going, but it's quite often a good idea if you know you're going to traverse something like that to get out and walk ahead of time and see what it is that you're fixing to go over into because it's it's it's it's not something that you want to find out the hard way when done right, it's a lot of fun. It's a real blast know what your vehicle can handle, but when it's not done right it can go for a lot of fun to really bad really fast well and in those who know me well know my story that I was hurt badly with Jeep jamboree physically by somebody didn't put their Jeep and gear when I got out of it and ended up in the hospital for a long long time in wheelchair for year so you do have to do it safely so it is no doubt that it is. And even though that's all happen to me. I would highly, highly recommend that that this it's it's amazing high country adventure but while they're driving along bill if they see their hot light coming on this is that you want to talk people on much. Are people really understand how critical it is that the older engines that were all cast iron heads cast-iron box they could take hotter engine a lot longer these aluminum blocks not new anymore, but the been around for a while. Aluminum heads aluminum blocks. They can't take hot high temperature long so if you drive along your Google temp is up there and read you get a hot light on, you need to stop the car and get it towed risk driving as you go from $200 repair to $2000 repair just because it I think I can make it. I think I can make it just to the next exit is you cannot know not doing the overheated engine that's tonight we talk about that all the time. If it's a red light that comes on in your car is a Renaissance call pull it over turn it off my office manager. Just this week her alternator light came on a battery light. She called said don't even try to get home, let me get you the truth, and to take home because you will not make it.
Well guess what she she left. Later nobody else. And guess what she did. She took it and it didn't make it because that light is red for a reason. That's right. The bottom line is you got understand what these lights are in the car as we always say look in your owners manual, but there are certain lights come on. You need to pull over your car they're not given in the manual you like to know I write this up.
Robbie is lately.
We've had a lot of people say why got a cool league. It's been a little hotter my heaters not putting out any heat we go investigate and come to find a blown head gasket in the car and I were talking, turn the engine down. It's a major expense replacing engine or doing head gaskets on the carpet start talking a thousand plus pretty much every time so and had they just.net thermostat replaced for the water pump replaced or whatever the cost card overheat chart. It would've been $100 repair $200 repair versus eight or $900 repair and that's what you talk about that engine light come on it's it's serious business.
While you might be wondering what in the world is Robbie talking high country adventure well is often is the case week. I kind of take my idea behind appraisal by the real black book and build a show around it so in our appraisal by the real black professor. We search the Bible for hidden treasure treasure, cry out for discernment.
Many of you know, I've been studying the song of Solomon and were coming to the end of the book and at the end of this particular love story is all about high country adventure intelligent, but it starts out a little bit in and it took me a while the to process some of this think through it and see how it applied to me. So when I go to high country adventure right to the beginning of it, but in these last four versus here's what it sounds like Solomon had a vineyard in Bala Hamman. He let out his vineyard to tenants. Each was to bring fruit fruit a thousand shekels of silver, but my own vineyard is mine to give the thousand shekels of silver for you all Solomon and 200 are those for whom attendance fruit is kind of interesting thing that Jesus refers to this story in the New Testament.
You remember with his story about the people that let out the vineyard and then they didn't pay and then they sent messengers, remembering they beat the Masters and then the vineyard division out of Emily sent sent his son, and they killed his son and and bad in itself is an interesting part of this love story is Jesus is referring to this, but see what happens is we think it's our vineyard. We think that this is mine.
That's mine.
But Jesus was pretty clear when he says it to give up your life you get it, but like those people that didn't want to give up the money for the fruit that they've raised. It wasn't their money. It wasn't their money, but see what happens to the lover. At the end of the of the end of the book, listen to what she says but my own vineyard is mine to give the thousand shekels or for you all Solomon. This is she's given bliss I'm giving you everything, and 200 are for those who tended true. Well, there's a cool thing about that Matthew Henry pointed out to me that's a doubletime it's a double tie that was a thousand shekels a double type would be 200 and she's given and who tended fruit based on. I am the vine and Congress were. Guess what, it gets even better. Until you like to versus I'm very excited to share those with you and we come back in our appraisal by the real black plus what about this high country adventure on the 15 card regular back to the Christian hard radio show and I love that song goes perfect with high country adventure.
That's what we've been talking about today on the first part I show and in our appraisal by the real black book.
When we ended we we talked about the first of the last four versus song of Solomon, but we haven't finished it yet in and quite often. You know somebody's last words speak volumes in my in my world in these last two sentences that are spoken by the lovers are some of my actual favorite verses in the Bible. The first one is spoken by the lover and this would be if if if you take Matthew Henry's vision that this was the church and Jesus then this would be Jesus speaking to the church. If you take the Christian card. I view this is Jesus talking to me because it's a love story between me and Jesus and that's Jesus talking to me. So what did Jesus say this is so cool.
He says you who dwell in the garden or gardens with friends in attendance.
Let me hear your voice there so much there.
You can swim around in that thing like an elephant in the lake somewhere but you see your dwelling in a garden near the garden you are in Eden we we we have this garden that God created for us and we do have friends in attendance that the friend spoke throughout the song of Solomon, but what's the one thing that Jesus wants from you the same thing you would want from your lover.
You want to hear their voice. You want you want to engage them, you let me hear your voice. What does Jesus want from me, what are his last words in this book. Let me hear your voice but here comes a high country adventure. What was the beloved's response to beautiful lady's shoe might woman what she say she said, why my lover and be like a gazelle or young stag on the spice laden mountain we see everybody. I I've never met anybody that just didn't long for adventure nab people like different kind of adventure something like off-road and full of drives.
Other people like to sailboats, but there some kind of adventure and I know that you know what your wife's adventure is and if you went in and into not use it honey. In fact, it wasn't long ago I said why don't we rent a sailboat and go to the Bahamas leave out of Florida and just sail and she wished and she did, but you should see the look in her eyes because she longs for adventure. Our heart longs for adventure and see this lover saying let's man be like a young stag on the spice laden mountains. You see there's another part of that. If you think about what young stag is due on spice laden mountains. They beat the heck out of each other with their horns. That's what they do because they're fighting over the babes. I'm just saying okay and guess what, that's what lovers do.
That's what you want your lover did you want Jesus to fight for you you want and will and that the lock horns with the with the one he's got those others that are highly that's what you want you want that adventure you want Jesus to lock horns you want you want what it is that he has to offer. You see, and and I think there's so much the Christian life that can be found in this adventure and it speaks to our heart that the Christian life, and I think that something that would be really appealing to people that are outside the church that do not realize what an adventure it is to walk with Jesus.
