I'm happy as a fat rat in a cheese factory to be here today is been a crazy week and lots of obstacles. Lots of rough roads. Lots roads in life is just really been a kick in the pants and a real joy to allow that the same time your usual house. Robbie Delmore is out today for the next hour I will be here with you sharing some of my experience in hoping that you will call in share some of your experience today that number to Cowlitz 866-348-7884 866-34-TRUTH 87884. Our topic today is rough roads made and before I can really relate to this topic day, I will hear about the time about a time or another. The where life was a very rough road for you that you were traveling on a rough ride and it was made so smooth all of a sudden that there was no doubt that God was at work.
You know the kind I'm talking about the kind where you don't have to scratch your head and say a you think that might've been God but I'm talking about the one where it was just so crystal clear that there was absolutely no doubt that God was at work in your life to come home give us a call at 866-348-7884 tell us your amazing story of a rough road that was made smooth by God not the time you misplaced your wallet.
And when you found it.
It had two dollars more than what you thought it was but something really awesome that only God could have done this morning I got work at 615 to let the big trucks out because they were traveling a long distance. I and when I got there I discovered we had no phone or Internet, or a business today and I plan to use a little bit of that extra time to finish it, finish up preparing for that show, but I went from thinking about thinking and talking about rough roads to travel in the one all of a sudden we have no phone. We have a phone you know we have no Internet and business today is really tough without phone or Internet that why was after I got the trucks out I got back over to the office in the started making preparations, wife, and told Ms. Lori that the honey I got a problem.
I wanted to be working on finishing up for the show and all of a sudden we don't have phone or Internet will Jeremy's in town. I know he would go to show weekend happy out there so folks from Norfolk Naval base. Today we have my son Jeremy Killebrew Neiers iron last names are not the same and he's not my blood signed were so much a part of each other's lie and it's just amazing. Absolutely awesome to have Jeremy with us today. It's I can't tell you how happy I was when I called him and asked him about it and he said he would be able to come today. I mean tears welled up in my little nervous. You know when I'm doing the show by myself. I get a little tense, nervous and and I needed extra time and all of a sudden I went from my trying to prepare for a show to try to prepare for their business. You know, we have several people out it worked. Several key people scale operators that he's on a camping trip with church great which I was tickled to death to having go to that.
So we made arrangements office manager is out today. He's headed to the beach but the you know it's just several things that happened in the little phone hiccup this morning.
It just took a little bit of the little bit to get over that. But we made phone calls and got the phones transferred to do a sale device and that way we can. When a call comes in.
You take out a phone number transferred to hand it to somebody else and I can call him back.
Our parks locator our parks get the computer part of the computer that we look up parts on it was working just fine and we were able to to function in that area, so we just pass out the phone numbers with had experience with this before from years ago and a lot of things. There's been times when the phones go down so we had experience we come to know what to do.
It just takes a little time to get that in place. Ms. Lori came up with idea, and Jeremy is really really really writing to my heart as he'd been here with me before one with Ben on mission trips. Robbie would have us come in on the show and it was just really really really great thing that day I will hear from him in a little bit. He's got some things he's going to share with us.
Lotta special things happen in his life these days go to a Methodist Church and so many things have happened in my life that are really key and geared around the preacher and later in the show today I want to share with everybody about some of the things that have happened. The fact that we go to a Methodist Church is it's different you know some churches. They keep their preachers like just for ever and ever and ever, and they never you know that every change to the pastor retires or are or passes away or something and that's the only time they have a change, but the there's many things I want to talk about today.
The many events in my life that it was just so crystal clear that God intervened in God is working his his magic not magic, working his works to just change my path and make a roads that I was a working yellow ride known so much smoother and carry me from place to one place to another and get me there in a fine fashion. So many things like like when Rob died, a son died and that was just so traumatic for me but that read it already been paid before it happened all share a little bit more about that later. I won't share a little bit about that right now because it was just so amazing God knew he was going to pass, and in order to prepare me for that to smooth up that rough road in a the fact that Rob was saved and baptized four months before he died was just such an awesome thing. It was just something that you know we need. We knew where he was and we didn't have to worry and and I can't imagine traveling that road without the knowledge that he was in heaven and he was saved and baptized shortly before he died is just an awesome awesome awesome thing, but the another time that the Lord had really worked in my life. Smoothed up things for me was when he put me working with the youth church. We had so many great times with that.
And the preacher was involved with so many of those he got there shortly after our work with the mining boys work begin with you and we had so it's great fun traveling to go to the lake to a day at the lake with Ben went on mission trips together this so many things that really we bonded with him just so well. I think I'll go ahead and share a little bit about about Darren and Ira our relationship. We go to a Methodist Church and seven years ago we got a new preacher.
He was a young guy with a lot of charisma and energy. Nearly everyone loved them dearly, especially the young people I just had that special special connection with kids in the youth and being that I'm still have a lot a kid like qualities myself. We really became close friends and after several of the mission trips and other functions. We become very dear to each other and and I just anything that happened there and would be there when we got a break, not settle be just a minute will be back share many more things about Rose.
Rough roads made smooth you listen to the Christian car guy said no and no good morning everyone you listen to the Christian car guys show with your guest host Bob Young and the special guest Jeremy Killebrew, my stepson's straight in from Norfolk Naval base and the share today about Rose. Rough roads made smooth and I shared earlier this morning about the turmoil I had at work. I got there phones when working in the computer when working with the Internet when working so me. Things were just open their just threw me for a loop had spent little time straighten that out and everything I'm I forgot to mention know that right before I left I left at 9 o'clock to come over to the radio station in the right before I left phones working Internet was everything smooth dried out and it gave me a piece of mind that I needed to get the truck income you know to leave work so it was just a great thing that God did for me. I don't know that God's Internet repair man. I see it as he healed that thing today so that I can have a little peace of mind that the station while ago right before we left, got stuck about her preacher and how to Methodist Church.
You know they're just they're just not there for ever.
We change and it was to start sharing about how Darren got there seven years ago loved them so dearly and use just such a great guy and he'd show up for things my son Rob had the all the shoulder surgeries and we finally found his real sure was absolute perfect. Dr. and they were going try something completely different and it was kind of a different procedure, revolutionary thing that not many people were due and so we went to this. Sure enough, here Darren shows that at the at Rob surgery in Charlotte all the way down there. He just showed up was the kind of creature that many churches only dream of a kind friend. Everyone should be lucky enough to have when the place burned up. When our business burned out. He was one of the first people there. I still see him showing up in that white turtleneck and just just the love show support and you know he was there as we all watch the shop's office and warehouses burned to the ground. We 10 914, January 9, 2014. He was one of the first people to show up at the hospital when he found out that Robert overdosed and he was just there there there there was such a great great great guy for me. A friend that you can never replace and later that day we found out that Robert died this dear friend jumped in his vehicle and went and found out that Jeremy young man sitting across from me right now. He was at school and with the social media and everything.
We were afraid Jeremy was going to hear about it so damn went and found out that they were on a field trip and went to where they were on the field trip at Ambrose Dniester to Jeremy about Rob's death until now this just to let you know how close I was to Darren Alexander preacher you know when we were guided through the through the funeral preparations by the same dear friend who by the way he conducted half of the funeral service will coordination with another preacher chip web Darren Alexander has been, is and will be the best preacher friend and support Guru and coworker for the Lord I've ever known. This just one thing.
We are met well Methodist change preacher from time to time, but most of the time. Preacher is happy with the church and the church is happy with the preacher there's not a chain so everyone was positive. We were all just absolutely sure that Darren and his lovely life, lovely wife Ellen would be a force for very long time, but in our district. We had any retirements in the area and throughout the Western Conference and as result of this, Darren was Riggs reassigned to a much larger church and the road was getting really rough for me at that time Amanda drag me through so many things was going to believe, shock and disbelief and she consumed me for a short period of time, but being a person that looks from the silver lining on every player. I had to turn my focus from being sad for me in happy for my dear friend did that so many things for me through the years in a human rewarded a huge upgrade got it always looked after me and looked after for so why should I expect anything different now with time came for Darren's last sermon force. My wife and I gone to the lake but we wanted to be absolutely sure that we got there so we made a point to go to bed early so would be well rested and be ready to go. We put our we put our phone somewhere special because her son Jeremy had planned on going from Norfolk to Georgia to see his wife is in the Army and he was planning on leaving Georgia in time to be there service just as well you know was all going to go together show support for the man done so much for our family was in.
Cheryl was planning to be on the road early. Lloyd placed her phone in the best place possible for phone reception in the camper for a Sunday morning. Her phone rings is Jeremy broken down in South Carolina.
Aiken, Carolina. We didn't have time to do a lot of thinking or anything.
So without hesitation. We grabbed a few things and headed home. We stopped by the junkyard place of business and I grabbed one of the rollbacks and I could not risk you are well times, moving kind of fast got a break coming up here when we get back. Return how this all turned listening to the Christian Car Guy my baby beside me at the store to get the better believe again look to bury their dolls. Some you listen to the Christian Car Guy your guest host Bob Young here. I want to get right back to the story, so much where we are to this point my near and dear friend who is a preacher is been reappointed. This it was so important to me to be at his last service at the church before he left and went to his new appointment. Man is done so much for us and I'm just really torn because I've got this call and you know there's no doubt about it when when your son counts and he's broke down that far away.
You're going to go get so I'm dealing with the heartbreak of knowing I was going to miss Darren's last service and an and there's that part of me that's always proud to go and rescue and help out about a son is just what we do, but the one I left we were talking about how would stop by the yard and I picked up a rollback. We decided that Lori would go home and and she could go to church I go alone down to get Jeremy in the car and the wood, lifted to time being everything mathematically just didn't seem like it was possible to get back even for the late service that day that come to the conclusion that would be listening online. When we got home to the to the website there so we could hear the sermon and are disappointed that I was going to miss Darren's sermon.
I did take pride in the fact that I was rescuing one of her voice always a great thing for her father to feel proud of going to help somebody out, but it was still early so traffic was very light there was almost no delight. I had no I still had no idea what the rest of the day had in store for me when I got all the way down to Aiken, South Carolina letting letting the car refueling and grabbing a buy a bite to eat went off without a hitch.
We were headed back up the road in no time at all. After the early service we got a chance to speak with my wife Lori on the phone, we could tell right away that she had experienced something very special in the in the first service we were still coming up the road.
Looking forward to hearing the sermon on the website heaven great conversation because it's always good seeing when you had seen them in a while. I'm not exactly sure when somewhere between Charlotte and Salisbury coming up I 85. We realize that we might get home in time before the second service was completely over the we might have a chance to see Darren before he left church that day, but the closer we got the more we realize that we have a real shot at getting to sleep. Part of the sermon at the second service. Even if we even if we didn't see it on a whim I could see a little bit you know. So enough of a chance that what color, why honey you meet is there with a pair shoes because I've got on these greasy workmates and she agreed that she would meet us there. Clean shoes zone until its bed head and at least a two day unshaven face where I've been at the lake asleep when I got the phone call. We marched inside just in time to see the sermon is the sermon we want to see so much, you know, when we got in and sat down and realized that he had started.
I'll be honest, the tears well up in my start run down by cheeks when we realize we were going to see it in June. Jeremy was there with me and God made it possible for me and him both to be there for Darren's final sermon we had no clue that the sermon was based on the first time we met Darren at one of the youth function at blues Creek on a little island and with it been out there and start a real water person.
Hey he he just you know he was in the one out, leaving the crowd on that you bear the first one to jump on the Jeep but he wanted you know bond with the youth group that day and so he was right out there and just made his presence known in the butt. Here we were at church last sermon that he was going to be given and a large portion was when he met met met a lot of the youth that they got there experience a run on a jet ski with me as I taken back across the light and God knew you the things that I'd be facing way back 2000 TN January 20 July 21, 2010. God knew all the things it will be face I'd be facing the next seven years. I feel like it's what he placed Darren him out my life and he couldn't picked a better man for the job. Darren was dear to all of us in the you know Jerry was there then, and he grew up with him and everything and it was just a great great great thing for us to be able to see Darren's last sermon and and the squeaky, and at the last minute to get to see Jeremy you want to share a little something with me a little bit here.
I'm sorry I've been just babbling on the whole time. I get excited about things I get excited about doing the show and the it's great to have you with us from Norfolk. I just wonder if you have an experience where got it smoothed out a reference for you think it's good to be here.
You have something to share when I left for a boot camp to go to Chicago I had it planned out. You know girlfriend was in come up there and attend the graduation going on eight weeks didn't seem that bad enough to see her at the end of it and then I got a letter saying she's not will be there no armies in her boot camp before I was going to get out as well. Now when you look when am I going to see your cruisers 10 weeks so I figured K will go to Florida for a school and then she gets done. I can attend her graduation that seem like a great idea to me.
I can easily feasible.
Get out there look good on paper. Yet it seems really really good time and was right. You know when I got done with my Florida class no graduate. I asked my instructor said, is there any way that I can leave here tonight and go to Missouri to get this done suggestion of your problem, get your point, dig if you do will get you get your skirt away that also.
The next day he said well orders don't work out you not will build Leeper another week LET'S first take up Jeremy's mother and I were at home and we were we were Chanda facilitate we tried poking and prodding, thinking we were trying to figure out whether we need to go to Pensacola to see him because he was going to be there longer and or whether we should go out the Missouri to see Marais's graduation and we were just really really really trying to force the issue.
We know most things we had absolutely no control over, and we were trying our best to force things that happened this make it work and so I'll go. It worked out I was gonna leave that night. You know, and arrived early the next morning to Missouri and then just she right over to graduation Hall and see her. But like I said the man creating the orders he didn't care about all that. So he did what he thought was right and he will give me a photo for another week and the next day, the chief called Mimi's you want to leave here sometime soon. I said yes chief I really do and he said well I don't think you be able to attend graduation but will get you out here tomorrow so that's great. So I'll get two weeks leave if I ever did get out of Florida which I finally did so I go home and Mina Mariah my wife.
We were she finally got a phone Gnostics in Reno said I'm not going to be able to make it.
She said that's okay you can come down to Georgia. That's where she was going for a school to civil know will make the drive meet halfway.
If we have to. And then when she got to Georgia she was informed that if you get somebody down there that day or that night shall have the whole weekend to do what she wants with her family go home and no have a have a little belief, so she called me scholar father first saying Johnny to get down here. I guess us to break his we got a break, not functionally get back will get back with Jeremy and find out how this turns out this is great in Texas just another another road really rough on smoothed it right out, listening his increasing car guy said the right to say know you can manually being Q&A hands and in what an absolutely awesome you listen to the Christian God is my car guy said I'm your guest host Bob Young only left a son, Jeremy was sharing about is me a rough road that God was smoothing out for him and I let him continue so to pick off. We got her father got the call. 12 and she said they don't need to get down here as soon as you can come get me where I won't be able to leave for the weekend said okay that's deftly going to happen because why would you ever turn that down so you get down there and it's off for five in the morning. We spent the night in the parking lot and you know we got to take her home that weekend and just when I thought I was going to see her for another two months, six months, I do know when I was sincere in her God open these doors and said no here's the open-door go see your is so amazing because we tried to force the issue so much we were pushing that it he can add it and no we we just can decide what we need to do whether we needed to go to Pensacola and console Jeremy because he what not to get together graduation or in our go to graduation. Then you arrive, you know, we just didn't know what to do and Lori just finally came to me one morning and says I'm just not going do anything until I get a clear indication of what we need to do and we did nothing at all just fell into place. One of the roughest roads because nobody likes to see their very cute struggle.
Nobody nobody can is just one of the hardest things on apparent is to see young people struggling with their offspring struggling and we want to fix it.
We want think that we can control and we got we got to make this happen for children and and it was just out of our hands and when she finally admitted that we had no control over. Got to show this is exactly what he could do and took one of the roughest rage. We've been on this made it so much smoother just a great great great thing thank you for sharing that Jeremy Moore talking about other roads that were really rough. I want to share this when I just I wouldn't feel right if I didn't share the awesome things that God did for me back in the January 28, 2011 fire strip 109 You Pulled Our Pl. burned to the ground and in most cases. One fire destroys the business as it happened, at 109 you pull it that day. There is usually a period of time that the businesses closed for reconstruction or setting up her you know there's just a lot of things that happen you know most places when there's a fire you have to shut down for a period of time people without jobs and paychecks and all that and it can take a very long time, but with an extremely positive attitude and a whole lot of help from God, my son Rob. The city of Winston-Salem and a whole bunch of friends and neighbors in the community. We were open very next day selling parts across the bed of the trip and cleaning up the mess.
The fire left behind. The fire started at 1 o'clock Friday, January 28 by 3 o'clock my son Rob and a dear friend of ours Steve Raber were at the Department of inspections getting information on how we could remain open and use the single wide mobile home. We had on-site for a very temporary office until we could get our double what do we can get one. The bigger double wide in their and while you places burning. I'm pretty sure that I never had a thought about an office or classroom but Rob had that vision week we can have have somewhere to work will have to get some permits and work on how to get things worked out, but we got it worked out that day. The fire was out by 5 o'clock and we managed to get everybody paid that afternoon before I left to go home just so many things just such a rough road and God just paid it made smoothed the next morning everybody showed up. We prayed we had coffee and doughnuts from a neighbor Southside bargain center had brought over brought us a coffee maker and coffee and fresh Krispy Kreme doughnuts and we opened up at 8 o'clock we sold parts across the bed of the trip and and we closed that afternoon. After we closed a dear friend.
Wow, what an awesome guy showed up and we were able to get seven phone lines put into the single wide trailer and so we were ready with seven phone lines in the trailer and you had to do a few other things. By 730 Monday morning baton 730 got there with about tables, chairs and paper copiers, envelopes, calculator, everything we needed to do a new office crammed it all in that single wide you know we had about all because we didn't recover as much as a paperclip from the old office. It was all destroyed by fire, 750 Monday morning we all gathered outside and prayed as a great thank God no one was hurt during the fire and thanked him for the wheel to push forward. I mean, when you're places on fire is not normal to be so calm and so you know so steadfast in what you're going to day. It's just unnatural for me.
I'm just not that calm of a person the other people from the news came Friday afternoon. They put the camera in my face and me, a microphone asked me we can do Bob is working to open up tomorrow and we're going to do business. We want to buy cars on sale parts didn't know I was going to but God laid on me that the that that's what's going to happen is what needed to happen in is going to happen and he was going to hold me up and and make sure that it it was doable and it just against all odds. We we were open Monday morning for business and started the chapter 109 you pull it after the fire and is just really really really amazing that the that all that was able to happen and and there's absolutely no way no way when I look back on that 72 hour. I'm so amazed of the fact that we tried to do these things let me know that God was helping me and kicking me in the button pushing me forward in the fact that we were able to succeed so completely, so completely with all the things that happened during that period based me know that my God can handle anything and from that day. Every morning when we come to work. We pray we pray, if I'm not there somebody else praise we start business every day with the word of prayer and all that started at fire through the next five hours January 28.
We did move into the new new building until December 18 and every day from even now, you know, we just had amazing weather we had everything go right. It was just great great great thing experience true true true sign that God can move that any rough road we fight Jeremy I want to thank you for being here today and shared with us. Thank you is in on well. It was great for you to know that you were going to be here, the rescue me. This is good when the rescue league becomes less if you are want to thank you for being here, ladies and gentlemen, this is been a Christian car guy show, I'm Bob Young signing off my Lord be with me paid all the road
