Jesus' unwavering will to provide what we need is why we can trust him in all circumstances. When God's ways don't seem to align with our expectations, we can be assured that His plan is always better because He doesn't waver in His will to save us from the power of sin and death.

Jesus, knowing that they intended to come and make him king by force. withdrew again to a mountain by himself. John 6, verse 15. Welcome to this daily encouragement from Our Daily Bread. Steadfast in God's will, was written by Jasmine Gough and read by Joyce Dinkins.

John chapter six, verses five through fifteen. When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, He said to Philip, Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat? He asked this only to test him. for he already had in mind what he was going to do. Philip answered him.

It would take more than a half a year's wages to buy enough bread for each one to have a bite. Another of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, spoke up. Here's a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many? Jesus said, have the people sit down. There was plenty of grass in that place, and they sat down.

About five thousand men were there. Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated. as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish. When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, gather the pieces that are left over.

Let nothing be wasted.

So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten. After the people saw the sign Jesus performed, they began to say, Surely this is the prophet who is to come into the world. Jesus, knowing that they intended to come and make him king by force, withdrew again to a mountain by himself. Steadfast in God's will. Written by Jasmine Goh.

The 1957 war movie The Bridge on the River Kwai. was so popular that fans flocked to Khanjanaburi in Thailand to look for the real life iron bridge. They found the bridge, but it wasn't on the quai. The movie got the river's name wrong.

Soon, however, that part of the Me Klong River was renamed Kwai Yai. Quai.

so it would align with people's expectations. Jesus never let the expectations of others cause him to waver in his divine mission. People flocked to see him because they heard of the signs and miracles he'd performed. when they found him and believed that he was the promised Messiah, They wanted him as a military leader.

so he'd save them from Roman rule. John six fifteen says Jesus, knowing that they intended to come and make him king by force, withdrew again, to a mountain by himself. Despite the pressure to rescue people the way they wanted, Christ resolutely followed God's plan. To rescue them. the way they needed to be rescued.

not from earthly troubles, but from the power of sin and death. Jesus' unwavering will to provide what we need is why we can trust him in all circumstances. When God's ways don't seem to align with our expectations, we can be assured that His plan is always better because He doesn't waver in His will. to save us. Let's pray.

Lord Jesus, Help us to trust you as you work out your divine plan. even if it doesn't align with our expectations. When we doubt, remind us of the lengths you went to, to save us from the consequences of sin and death. and that we can trust you with all of our life. Thank you, Lord.

It's in your name, Jesus, that we pray. Amen. As you go about your day, reflect on these questions. When have you felt what God provided didn't live up to your expectations? What helps you to trust him?
