God's thoughts and ways are higher than human understanding, and His intentions are always perfect, compassionate, and righteous. Even when life seems unfair, we can trust in His everlasting promises and loving character.

My ways are higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55, verse 9. Welcome to this daily encouragement from Our Daily Bread. Clinging to God's promises. was written by Leslie Coe and read by Stephen Tabor.
Isaiah chapter fifty five, verses one through three. and eight through thirteen. Come, all you who are thirsty. Come to the waters. and you who have no money, come, buy, and eat.
come by wine and milk. without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread? and your labor on what does not satisfy. Listen.
listen to me and eat what is good. and you will delight in the richest of fare. Give ear I'd come to me Listen, that you may live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you. My faithful love promised to David.
And now picking up at verse eight. For my thoughts are not your thoughts. Neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways. and my thoughts than your thoughts.
As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it. without watering the earth. And making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater.
So is my word that goes out from my mouth. it will not return to me empty. but will accomplish what I desire, and achieved the purpose for which I sent it. You will go out in joy, and be led forth in peace. the mountains and the hills will burst into song before you.
and all the trees of the field will clap their hands. Instead of the thorn bush will grow the juniper. and instead of briars the myrtle will grow. This will be for the Lord's renown. for an everlasting sign that will endure forever.
Clinging to God's Promises. Written by Leslie Coe. Wendy was feeling a little left out. During lunch break, her boss had left chocolates on everyone's desk. Except hers.
Puzzled, she lamented to a friend, Why did he leave me out? When asked, their boss explained Those chocolates are still good, but they've been around for some time. Wendy's pregnant, so I just wanted to play it extra safe. Then he laughed. As for the rest of you.
The little incident became a running joke in the office. But it got me thinking about how we sometimes misread God's intentions because of our limited understanding and perception. We may even believe ourselves to be victims of unfair treatment, forgetting that God always has our best interests at heart. Always. Isaiah fifty five, verses eight and nine reminds us That while we may not fully understand God's thoughts and ways, yet we can be sure that they're higher than our ways.
Ours are often influenced by selfish desires. His are perfect, compassionate, and righteous.
So even when things don't look good for now? we can trust that God will provide what we truly need. for He's loving and faithful to His own everlasting promise. Let's call on him while he is near. knowing that he'll never leave us.
Let's pray. Faithful God You know we sometimes feel left out of your blessings. and doubt your love for us. Please help us to trust you and to hold on tightly to your everlasting promises. Thank you, Lord.
It's in Jesus' name we pray. Amen. As you go about your day, Reflect on these questions. Which promises of God can you hold on to when life seems unfair? Which aspects of his character give you comfort and assurance?
