If you're the God of the clouds of your the God of the heavens above everything. That means over the K that's what they the same is only glory be seen all over the earth in glory, even in this case, faith in God you're dealing with my faith. I hope many of the Psalms found in the Old Testament reflect the heart of King David. In spite of many of them been written from the place of extreme emotional darkness Psalms continue to be a source of great encouragement for us today. Here's Pastor Chadwick, continuing our study of life team.

David exalted God above the habit of trusting God you above the cave above the heavens let your glory be all over the earth but everyone see how glorious and wonderful you are. They set for my step. My soul was bowed down the tug of the dug a pit in my way, but they have fallen into it themselves nor was he saying there is enemies again. They dug a pit for him. They made a trap for him. David says God let them step of the road trip again. He's letting God do it, but he's hoping that the ones who had turned against him would one day have to face the very traps they had said so.

Paul's think about what's just been said that he continues my heart is steadfast.

Oh God, my heart is steadfast.

His heart will not be moved. Folks, we are making for that faith declarations to God in caves, you must not let your heart be moved. You must be steadfast in your faith conviction that God is using the cave somehow for your good and his glory, and you'll not give up that faith conviction. Your heart will remain steadfast in that believe the gods in the cave working it together for good.

Then he says I will sing and make melody when you're in the cave.

One of the best things you can do is sing praises to the Lord find a praise CD and put it on and just start singing.

Make sure you don't miss worship. If you're in the cave come and sing with the people of God. There is something about singing praise songs, singing hymns that uplifts the soul and allows us to get out of the cave. That's what Dave is doing here. And here's a song awakened by glory a Waco harp and lyre was that word awake. He's basically saying God it feels like you're asleep right now.

Would you please wake up but is also saying I believe that once you're awake you'll fight this battle for me this is your battle not mine and I will trust you that you will fight it.

I will awake the dawn. I will give thanks to you, oh Lord, among the peoples. I think the rod be another sale. I hear there's not a limit is Paul's and ask you, have you ever given God thanks for the cave. Have you ever given God thanks for the K. David thanked God for the K it was taking him to a place of faith that he could've never gone to without the K. Have you given thanks to God for your case. I will sing praises to you among the nations there is against singing and praising somehow lifts the soul in caves for your steadfast love is great to the heavens. Your faithfulness to the clouds, be exalted.

Oh God, above the heavens let your glory be above all the earth. If you're the God of the clouds. If you're the God of the heavens and your blood everything that means you over the cave.

That's what David saying so I'll let your glory be seen all over the earth your glory, even in this cave faith declarations God you're dealing with my faith. I will not be that Psalm 57 Psalm 142 similar but yet different.

He begins by saying I tell my trouble before him, he told God all of his troubles.

He was forthright and open with all of his hurt and pain. Again, you can tell God that he's big, you can handle it. He wants to do it.

In fact, some of you may not know that before I was called in the ministry earned a graduate degree in counseling in one of the things I learned in counseling with trying to help people get well is this phrase admitting the feeling is the beginning of healing admitting the feeling is the beginning of healing. That's what every therapist wants you to do, to tell the therapist what's hurting you will. The same is true with God as your writing out your prayers.

Perhaps that that's what I do every day I write out my prayer I tell God what's going on in my heart I don't got really hurting today. I'm really tired today.

I'm really overwhelmed today I tell God what I'm feeling goes, admitting the feelings the beginning of healing. David's as I tell my trouble before him when my spirit faints within me.

Not if, when this great man of God what a heart for God's spirit was fainting within them in the cave.

You know my way. Even though my spirit is painting you still know what's going on God in my face not going to be based on my feelings or my circumstances close those of the two enemies of faith, your feelings and your circumstances. David says I'm not looking at my feelings are not listening to my circumstances. I'm looking to you and you alone. Oh God. You know my way in the path where I walk. They have hidden a trap for me there it is again. I'm going to account on you, Lord, in allowing them to step into the trap look to the right and see there is none who takes notice of me. No refuge remains to me. No one cares for my soul.

He's all alone at this point, folks. God has to do is work with you alone in the cave that he doesn't want you to remainder you need community eventually boys doing his greatest work, it must be done in solitude. I cry out to you oh Lord I say you are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living. When the Israelites crossed into the promised land got divided up portions of the land.

All of the 12 tribes. They should give one of my tribe. The tribe of Judah portion of the land you give me a portion of your life. Now in the land of the living attend to my cry for I am brought very low. David's in a very low state in the cave. Deliver me from my persecutors, for they are too strong for me. Bring me out of prison that I may give thanks to your name their silence.

It seems impossible, but David believes in the God of the impossible. The righteous will surround me, for you will deal bountifully with me, faith declaration, faith declaration, even though it's dark, I'm alone.

There's no hope. It seems it's impossible. I still believe in you.

The righteous God of the universe to deal bountifully with me now want to him is able to do exceedingly abundantly beyond what we could ever imagine. Ephesians 320 is the God of the universe is not limited by our circumstances.

He's able to conquer everything that is the ultimate faith declaration.

He wants all of us to so David ends the Psalms that way. And then interestingly, after some. In that dark cave got personal brought his family to him. Jesse, his father, his mom, his brothers, his two sisters, maybe the grandkids, Jesse and the family came to him because God knew that the people who should help us most in times of caves is our family, our family, dear friends, God created the family to be the source of encouragement we need in our decaying time like Marilyn wants for me almost 20 years ago when I was ready to give up. So God brought family and then he brought 400 men. It's interesting the text describes them as those who were in distress. Everyone wasn't that everyone was bitter and so they were people's souls abusing Saul as this maniacal autocrat was hurting the citizens he was supposed to be overseeing and they left and came to the cave it at a limb and what's so interesting. These 400 ragtag began to be disciplined by David and ultimately mostly bit later on in another part of the series they become David's fighting Army. David's mighty men, they become ultimately in their precise discipline Army maneuvers.

The most powerful army that Israel ever knew. So God uses the cave time to prepare Israel for later on with these 400 men and finally a guy by the name Abby, a thought comes to David Eddie he thought was one of the priests went. Go get the even my coaches love that name Saul and said I have a lactating David the sword of Goliath and food to escape. Saul is one ticked off. Do any said a dough egg.

The Edomite is five you go kill everyone of the priests did kill a limb elect all of his other buddies, except want to be a thorn who escaped and went to Dave David in the cave of battle and what happened in that cave is God continue with ABA thought the promised Aaron that there will always be up high priest in charge of Israel to do the sacrifices for the forgiveness of sins, and later when David became king ABA FARC was as high priest, God sovereignly overseeing even the worst possible scenario to keep his promises. True. And finally, David went to Moab and he asked the king of Moab. If you take care of his mom and dad aging, unable to continue to travel with David and be a part of this warfare. David takes care of his mom and dad this man after God's own heart, knew the 10 Commandments.

He knew the one of them was to honor your mother and your father. So David takes them to the king of Moab non-Israelite Gentile why Moab is why member. The story of Ruth. Ruth came back from Moab. She was a Moabitess.

She married Boaz a Jew, and they had children. Her grandson was Jesse David's father. So David took his daddy back to the land where he knew the king would care for him because the king said this guy and his family has Moabite blood pulsating through his veins. I watched both my mom and dad, aging die, folks, and I knew in those latter years when it was so difficult.

Caring for them.

But that was my responsibility. I knew as a child of God, but also their child. I needed to care for them as aging parents.

So today that's what he did with his mom and dad honored his mother and his father now. David then leaves Avalon with his 400 mighty men, and he returns closer to Saul knowing that Saul is still looking for him wanting to kill him.

He goes to a second cave you hear me say that you're not limited to one cave in life. There's a second cave in which he goes.

It's a cave called in getting it's an area that still exist in Israel today.

It's filled with craggy rocks. Steve Mountains, the valleys and multitudes of case what one day and this is in first Samuel chapter 24 David and some of his mighty men are hidden deep in a dark cave in and getting this second cave in there trying to figure out what to do. Saul is persecuting them, seeking them in one day.

Is there deep in the cave, thinking they can only see the light at the beginning of the cave that they can be seen by anyone entering the cave just to enter the cave.

Saul king Saul, the guy wanted David dead and he takes off his robe cast it aside, and I just don't know how politely to say this is a minister of the gospel going to say what the text says any don't believe he read it yourself. King Saul takes off his clothes and bends down and takes a royal dump.

That's what it says and he let your imagination run wild. Okay, he is vulnerable these in a position of great vulnerability. He can't see David and his mighty men. David can see Amber and I getting to plaster a great vulnerability and his men whispered him okay lop off his head right now and our problems are over in an instant. David crawls over to Saul while he's taking his business cuts off a square of his royal robe and comes back to the men and they still see Saul alive in the girl you crazy. It's in the cave and Getty that God taught Dave and another great lesson about faith in verses six and seven we read this. David said was men. The Lord forbid that I should do this thing to my lord the Lord's anointed to put out my hand against him, seeing that he is the Lord's anointed. So David persuaded his men with these words and did not permit them to attack Saul, and Saul rose up and left the cave and was on his way. We was down in the valley. David walks out of the cave and cries out them. Saul, I'm not your enemy. I don't want to kill you I love you and want to show you could've taken your life and shows him the piece of his royal robe and Saul cries and was all I shouldn't of done and I'm so sorry I pursue you, David, but that only lasted for a moment. He started the pursuits and here's the point. David didn't like Saul a whole lot, but he honored his position as King is one of my military friend said to me one time I didn't like the general but I always loved his position. You may not like the person over you but you must respect their position and David understood this principle folks.

I hope all of you understand to bless the source of your blessing if it's a kid with parents bless the source of your blessing if it's a boss over, you may not like, bless the source of your blessing you may not like the person. But you must respect their rank and David said I will not lift up my hand against the Lord's anointed. Here's what God is trying to teach him in the cave of in getting David so many people when they're in a case they want to seize control of the cave and try to make things happen their way. They try to do in their timing and Their Way, David when you're my child and I'm doing a work of faith within you.

You must learn patience is humility's a twin sister of faith, there's a triplicates sister that's involved.

It's called patients.

Patients and faith are inextricably connected together. And God was saying to David, you must allow me to do with Saul in my way in my time. Don't try to control the situation and David learned that faith perspective in the cave and get interestingly two chapters later in chapter 26 he sneaked in Paul's Saul's camp and had the chance to kill him again in the same think often of the portal royal road just to say I've learned my lesson. I will not lift up my hand gets in the Lord's anointed, do just like many of you are trying to control your situation.

Instead of releasing it to God and trust in patients is a sign of a lack of faith in the caves. We tend to look at our feelings and circumstances and not believe in the God of the impossible. Faith is always connected to the God of the impossible. Roger Bannister ran a sub four minute mile. In the early 1950s was interesting beforehand is most people said to him, it can't be done. Nobody can run a four minute mile lesson format mile Bannister didn't believe in all the pundits who said it's impossible. He kept pushing himself. In fact, the doctors told him that if he ever did it in under four minutes, his body would die. Interestingly, on the day when he finally ran his 359, he collapsed into buying stamps thought he died, but he got up and he broke that barrier because he believed there are any barriers and since then 150+ people have broken the four minute mile in your caves folks. Some of you still believe that God can't get you out other people of told you it's impossible. But the God of the caves whom I worship is the God of the impossible.

He can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Alexander Solzhenitsyn was a Russian dissident. He was thrown into a Google log because he spoke words against Joseph Stalin. He spent over 12 years there when he was finally released. The world clambered to hear his words.

What happened in the Glock. He talked about how in that prison. He met Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in that prison got deep in his faith in the understood eternal realities, and here's what he said to journalists all over the world about his cave in Siberia. Thank you Lord for prison. Thank you Lord for prison.

Why thank God for the prison. Don't you see folks no wilderness, no will of God.

No cave, no confidence in God, no loneliness, no loveliness of God, no darkness, no dependence on God. No dangers no desire for God.

It is great having you with us today. Thank you very much Pastor David.

Thank you for being with us today hi Jim, it's great being with you to him this morning devotion you wrote about it.

David is uncalled each child each year.

This one sounds really personal.

Simply tell us how this one started. I can indeed it's really from my wife, Marilyn, this is a parenting tip for any listener now or someone who might know someone is going through some parenting decisions gin in our crazy culture right now with all of the different educational issues that are on the table. The gender fluidity issues all the teachings that are going on about critical race theory, etc. many parents are asking the question can I keep my kid in the public schools and obviously you can't give a blanket yes or no to that particular question what you got to do is to go to each parent and say you got to make a decision regarding each child each year. That's what Marilyn and I did what we had three children all distinctly different with different gifts, different personalities, and so we had to make the decision, then with some other issues on the table what to do with our kids and parents are asking the question should I put my kids in private schools.

Private Christian schools should I homeschool what should I do, and we would counsel you who are asking that question today. Each child each year so at the end of each school year.

Look at your kids how are they doing, psychologically, spiritually, in their own maturation process and then make the decision. Accordingly, it may be you need to homeschool them my own daughter is homeschooling her five children and doing so exceptionally well. They are thriving. She's made the decision with each one of them right now that this is the best decision for them.

We know other parents right now that are taking their kids out of public schools and placing them in just private schools were there getting a more classical Latin kind of education and that's what they have felt as best. Others are taking them out of putting them into Christian schools with her not being exposed to as much of this kind of teaching as well.

We can't give people an answer for each of your children but you should know your children well enough in their gifts, their personality, their mental makeup and where they are psychologically right now to make a decision for them. So really the best parenting advice we can give them is Proverbs 22 six. Raise up your child in the ways of the Lord and will never depart there ways that verse can also be translated. Raise up a child according to his bent, so you're raising them according to their gifts, how you know they are and then when you make the decisions for them.

Each child each year you'll probably end up over the years making the wisest possible decision for how to raise them for the Lord. This is so good and I think it really actually takes the pressure off from having to have this 12 year plan for my child and really honestly David. This reminds me of something when I was in ninth grade I had a rough spot. I was getting pulled into a bad crowd and actually started stealing and bagged my parents to take me out of the public school system and they put me in a private Christian school and then a year and 1/2 went by and I was turned around and asked to go back to public and got to graduate with a huge class in the public school system and I just am grateful for the sensitivity how my parents didn't know that they were living by this day, that is them as they raised me.

Each child each year and we had the same thing with all three of hours that they went through different spots in their lives, and we determine note they don't need to go to that school next year. They need to go to this school next year and we made those decisions and in the end it worked out we didn't have this 12 year plan and that's what I'm trying to say all parents don't try to think too far ahead in the future.

Just each child each year and the Holy Spirit will lead you to the right decision.
