The following program is recorded content created by the Truth Network so what's Ben & Jerry's got to do with Israel stalking for the line of fire with your host activist all the international speaker and theologian Dr. Michael Brown your voice of moral cultural and spiritual revolution Michael Brown is the director of the coalition of conscience and president of fire school of ministry get into the line of fire valves like always 866-34-TRUTH that's 866-34-TRUTH your Jim is Dr. Michael Brown thanks friends for joining us on this thoroughly Jewish Thursday my delight to be with you 866-34-TRUTH 866-34-TRUTH 7884 is the number to call with any Jewish related questions of any kind.

I do want to catch up with something in the news today that relates to Israel relates to Ben & Jerry's ice cream company. I'll do that in a moment, but I announced to a couple weeks ago that after a several year process of translation and printing it meticulous work to get done.

The real culture. Jesus is now available in Hebrew and we are working with different organizations within Israel to get it distributed to Jewish seekers to nonbelievers to get into their hands, so I picked it up and started rereading it now if you know the origin or history of the book I wrote the book in response to Rabbi Shmuel he Scotia Jesus when we had done debates over the years. He explained what his position was that Jesus was not a false Messiah. He was a failed Messiah rubbish really followed the writings of Rabbi McAbee or scholar hi McAbee, Prof. McAbee and felt that Jesus was a freedom fighter against Rome that the New Testament had been rewritten largely in the image of Paul's theology and change things. It's it's obvious that categorically reject those theses but Barabbas really helped you passionately felt this is a way of bridge for Jewish people to appreciate Jesus steam Jesus appreciate some of his teaching to get rid of this later church Pauline Jesus etc. so in his mind it was a way to bring Jews and Christians together and get a healthy appreciation for Jesus as a great teacher and Rabbi and obviously a sedate step in the right direction, but with very false and wrong premises and foundations. So when his book was coming out he really wanted me to endorse it and I think about how how can I endorse it when I have such profound differences, but we talk back and forth a small house this in my endorsement was basically this you will having profound differences with his rejection of Jesus as Messiah and his radical reconstruction of the New Testament. I really appreciate an Orthodox rabbi, recognizing Jesus as an Orthodox rabbi and we could say that this book is America's most famous Rabbi meets the most famous rabbi of all time. Socially really like the endorsement used it. We were going to do some debates around the time his book came out he was going to a major launch in Israel and America and one night I was in prayer this late at night was, I was praying by the side of the bed in a room I use in the house to pray and get alone and had my laptop out on the bed.

I was praying and I just said shut everything out slick 230 in the morning, shut the laptop get on your face just so I got tremendously gripped with the burden to write. I thought at that moment a substantial article reviewing Shmuel's book critique it in death. Talk about her own debating history also a substantial piece. I was gonna write. I woke up the next morning on the Nono this all of Montgomery book Garrett whole book, a book that will be a standalone book, a book that will be a an outreach tool to our Jewish people so I got stirred ended up connecting with a publisher that that caught the burden and the what's extraordinary about it is from the day I started writing the first page to the day that the hardcover volume was in my hands was just under 10 weeks. This just doesn't happen. I'm talking about a serious book with 450 endnotes, but I remember feeling like I was getting carried. As I wrote. I remember feeling like I was that that I just I was on a journey of discovery of what inside him again to get necks from the border or what Jewish references can come back to mind are what volume I gonna find my library it just like this fella carried on this journey and then for the publisher, do you have to understand they have strict timetables because they have certain number of editors they have publicists there proofreaders. They have all these different things there.

Working with bookstores who's going to get this book this which departments and work on this. So when you're at when you crash the system basically come in with a whole different project from out of the blue. It it puts tension on everything and they gave me strict guidelines and deadlines us a look.

We must have. To get this on time. We must have the manuscript. The finished manuscript from you on this morning, we say Friday, we don't mean Friday midnight because that would be Friday for me, but in the Nono we need first thing in the morning his editors have to start working with and then you have time to fill in all the endnotes and I remember the last day of doing and no editing.

Got home from a radio program for 30 in the afternoon and edited the endnotes until 430 in the morning. Space the 12 hours of work to finish filling in all the gaps got it done in the book came out and and got used to it.

We had some wonderful testimonies. Probably most meaningful and memorable. Ron from Canada. If you're listening was was dear Jewish brother, his mother at 97 years old. That was the thing that they gave her the validation she needed 97-year-old Jewish mother in the nursing home to become a believer and and she then use the real culture Jesus to help evangelize the other elderly folks in the nursing home before she went home to be with the Lord. So it's out of Heber now but I told her the whole story to tell you also that I wrote it so quickly.

It was so gripped in writing. It is almost like I was watching it happen.

Your rented experience is that use of gripped her so moved by something or just being ill at some you've done athletically or save them musically or subcu gonna to rescue somebody recount. Watching yourself do it.

As it happens, that's kinda what happened. So as I was going back and is reading some of it I thought why so excited that this material. Consider a really feel the Lord help me write it.

And of course it's truth is really going to minister to Israeli audience, both secular Jews and religious Jews so so do pray with me. We've got more and more material out in Hebrew, some in written form. Some in audio or video form with with either captions as I'm speaking or other Israelis taking my words and then putting them out in their own words in Hebrew, or actually transcribing my words and putting them out in Hebrew, more and more material getting at out and he was to pray with us that the Lord would really use this help reach the lost sheep of the house of Israel and those that want to support our Jewish outreach, but we do by God's grace is unique. It does help equip so many others in Jewish ministry around the world and help reach religious Jews and secular Jews with the good news. So if you want to help us bring the gospel to the Jew first, website ask Dr. SK DR Brown, double-click donate.

It was through generous donations of folks just like you that we were able to to get the real culture Jesus project on in Israel. Of course, no soon as that's done then we will work on the next one. Another book to get out there and then in the normal video material, etc. in Hebrew. If you're watching online on YouTube. This a $.

The bottom of the chat box. You can just click on that and give through that, or Facebook.

There's a donate button so large or small. Every gift is appreciated. Sometimes a small gift is very large for you because of your own situation. So we appreciated and it all goes for a wonderfully good cause. Just this.

Think of that of the joy that will have of knowing what when we meet people in the world to come in God's eternal heavenly kingdom and in your prayer made made a difference, or you were the one that they saw a difference in your life at work and I got them wondering in its most preach the gospel to and you never even heard the story as you moved. After that it only years later phot now you were part of it or you gave to our ministry and and that helped us get material is to someone Israel. As a result of that they were born again we will get to share in this together. So thank you for your participation with us is very sacred. We take it is is very sacred 866-34-TRUTH okay so thoroughly Jewish Thursday me just get my screen up for my phone calls here okay.

We will go to the phones little while but first Ben and Jerry so let's check out this tweet from Ben & Jerry's. This came out earlier this week Ben & Jerry's when sales of our ice cream in the occupied Palestinian territory and have a full statement right so that's what they tweeted out July 19 so occupied Palestinian territory referring to witnesses, West Bank and Gaza, although to many proposed an activist receive a group like Hamas all of Israel is occupied Palestinian territory all of Israel is stolen ground. That's how they would look at a bit Ben & Jerry's is famously quote woke progressive you'll almost always see that those that take the radical liberal stand and embrace the radical liberal talking points will also turn anti-Israel is virtually inevitable. Let's look at their longer statement of we believe is inconsistent with arousal Ben & Jerry's ice cream to be sold in the occupied Palestinian territory OPT. We also hear and recognize the concern shared with us by our fans and trusted partners. We have lost in partnership with our licensee who manufactures Ben & Jerry's ice cream in Israel and distributes it in the region. We have been working to change this and so we have informed our licensee that we will not renew the license agreement when it expires at the end of next year. The Ben & Jerry's will no longer be sold in the OPT. We will still stay in Israel through different arrangement will share an update on this as soon as we are ready. Okay so number one. The announcement is ambiguous. It's ultimately been interpreted to mean that they will not sell the ice cream in the quote illegal Jewish settlements in the West Bank was is no such thing and Gaza could not happen so that that would be the general understanding it means more broadly quote the occupied Palestinian territory than Palestinians in general can't get the expert but but why pray tell, is Ben & Jerry's sewing ice cream within Israel.

This this to me in a written article about this is utterly incoherent and completely contradictory because if after all, if if the evil is the evil Israelis. The evil apartheid state. The oppressive Israelis if they are the bad guys doing the terrible things you summon your ice cream, if any, the whole nations on stolen ground. According to the critics hate the whole nations apartheid hate the whole nations guilty of genocide that the cleansing according to the critics, so are you selling your ice cream to Israel proper, but not within the so-called occupied Houston characteristics of the whole thing is utterly incoherent and inconsistent. We come back I will tell you how Prime Minister Netanyahu form from his Nintendo responded. Current Prime Minister Naftali Bennett how the BDS movement to whom Ben & Jerry's is capitulated and how they responded further hypocrisy Ben & Jerry's and will get you usually the right error on the line of fire with your host Dr. Michael Brown your voice of more cultural and spiritual revolution. Here again is Dr. Michael Brown show welcome welcome to thoroughly Thursday, this is Michael Brown collected 866-34-TRUTH 866-34-TRUTH 7884 is the number to call with any Jewish related question of any kind. Okay before regular phones which is can be very shortly of how did Prime Minister for premise to Netanyahu respond to the Ben & Jerry's announcement. This is what he tweeted an obviously straight to the point now we Israelis know which ice cream not to buy so yet you sell Israel but wearing a buy it and perhaps we Jews worldwide might get that by deduction know which ice cream not to buy and then current Prime Minister Natalie Bennett, among other things he said in a will to fight this and push back against it. He said there are many ice cream flavors to choose from paraphrases only one Jewish state.

Many ice creams only one Jewish state. We know were a solidarity lies now for the BDS movement, which is boycott, divestment, sanctions of Israel. They have three demands fundamental demands number one take down the the separation barrier so it's the 95% fans 5% wall. The wall primarily there to to keep snipers up at all there to keep murderous terrorists out remove that removed and has been tremendously affected by the way in reducing terror attacks remove that this does cut right through Palestinian neighborhoods, etc. second thing is go back to pre-1967 borders which are suicidal sets of suicidal in terms of any possible ability to keep the nation safe number three allow for all Palestinian refugees to return now you have to understand that the court refugee situation with Israel is different than any refugee situation anywhere in the world could you come out, to 1948 people displaced there or their children or their grandchildren and all of the families that have since grown from there, which is the multiplied millions of people that they've got some have a right to return, which is totally contrary to way everything's are happy with refugees through through modern history, which is near displaced by war you resettle at and remember, many of them left because their own leaders tell them to leave as many Israeli leaders were saying stay were neighbors we can work together this room for everybody. Many Palestinian leaders were saying leave flee get out because accounting can distinguish between a Jew and an Arab. Once we drive the Jews into the sea and come back. To your homes, your lands to businesses course it never happened to the Jews were not driven into the city so that so-called refugee crisis is one largely created by the Palestinian leadership of the Muslim Arab leadership and since 1950s Arab league of Nations. It's this and will repatriate the Palestinians. So if if they if they are refugees, then they have to say refugee status. They will just be covering the citizens of our country etc. this is been an ongoing problem so you have this unique thing even even in places like quote the West Bank to Judea, Samaria, you have Palestinian refugee camps among the Palestinians you going to Lebanon, Syria, so Arab nations and their Palestinian refugee camps there was I got to do this or how's it Israel's fault was it's not. These are choices that these nations and peoples have made so in any case, the demands of the BDS movement, if met, would be the end of his let's that's the reality mean the end of Israel as a nation. How did they respond to this announcement with let's take a look at their official statement following years of BDS campaigns. Ben & Jerry's is announced a will and sales of its ice cream and Israel's illegal settlements on stolen Palestinian again to be consistent all of his new entire nation of Israel is on stolen Palestinian land. According to this logic, we warmly welcome your decision but call on Ben & Jerry's to end all operations and apartheid Israel. In other words, could step in the right direction. But why you still selling ice cream to Israel in general of court get to be consistent with Ben & Jerry's did is is is incoherent and inconsistent as it is hypocritical to see animal and and they go on with the statement Ben & Jerry's leading socially responsible international company is finally bringing its policy and Israel's regime of repression against Palestinians in line with his progressive positions. A black lives matter and of the social justice struggles we open Jerry's is understood that in harmony with social justice commitments. There can be no business as usual with apartheid is to get a damn.

Israel's whole income of any business dealings with Israel as a whole.

That's the whole BDS boycott investment sanctions movement. Okay there is an article in the Washington Free beacon that points out the degree of hypocrisy Ben & Jerry's position in no justice like different NBA leaders getting all exercised over injustice in America whether some justice in America. Let's address when Israel treats the Palestinians unfairly.

Let's address it. I'm all for all of that absolutely was up hypocritical bracelets that exaggerate things.

Let's be accurate and then don't tell me you're in bed with China and working with them actively and promoting yourself over there and make a pretty penny from China but you get outraged over injustice is no parts role that's downright hypocrisy. So let's let's look at this statement from the article Washington Free beacon BDS and Jerry's the woke ice cream company veers into anti-Semitism on the scroll down into that article and see what they actually point out all right so in the article. They say this not clear how exactly removing Ben & Jerry's ice cream from grocery stores in the West Bank will benefit the Palestinians. The move appears to be primarily an active guerrilla theater and a demonstration of base prejudice.

The most common expression of anti-Semitism on the left is the application of double standards to Jews and the Jewish state, look no further Ben & Jerry's partnership with Unilever which required the ice cream company in 2000. There is no comparison between Israeli policy in the West Bank.

The practices of the world's greatest human rights abuses you will ever happily does business everywhere from occupied Northern Cyprus to occupied Tibet and Jean John home to the weaker the concentration camps. We will hold our breath for the ice cream boycott of China or Russia.

But hey, there are no Jews in Jean John, however you pronounce that and that's that's the bottom line with the this social justice movement. The moment the thing rises up and begin student to put on the justice here here and again where there is legitimate injustice. We sure this followers of Jesus be on the frontlines of addressing it and seeking to to write okay and with this exaggeration and with her false claims. We should be in the frontlines exposing but I was saying.

The moment I saw cities on fire and things happening in America. Jews next, using the blame. Some of it is going to happen. That's what it was no surprise during some of the BLM riots last year in LA synagogues were vandalizing their swastikas and things like that. No surprise, by the way, since were a bit distant from those rights now. I want to shout from the rooftop that every black life matters alone shout from the rooftop that where there is injustice against my black brothers and sisters, we need to stand up together as Americans and all the more as followers of Jesus to stand for justice and at the same time, I strongly reject the BLM movement. The ideology behind that movement. The Marxism that the queer ideology etc. the various things that it stands for. So there is much corruption in the BLM organization. While of course we affirm that every black life matters, but look it's just a matter of time before the scapegoating happens. It's just a matter of time you watch you watch friends and after this we go to the phones 866-34-TRUTH I've set it for many years because it's self-evident you watch a denomination. It progressively questions the authority of Scripture progressively questions whether salvation is through Jesus alone. It progressively questions whether the Bible is uniquely inspired as God's word was in any sense infallible begins to shift more and more the direction of coping progressive liberal and you watch what happens. It will change its view on abortion. It will know we need to fight for women's rights and protect women's rights and we don't really know if the baby and subagents fetus it will shift from a pro-life trickle pro-choice position.

It will shift its views on marriage and sexuality is like clockwork is gonna happen, it will shift its views on marriage and sexuality.

Both it's about love and we have men in our church committed men. They love Jesus. They love one another. Of course we affirm the relationships of course they should be able to be administered with godly lesbian women. Of course in a committed relationship there married by the state and courses should be in ministry. Why not use the shift and that then you see the ship for comes to Israel.

It's like clockwork because you get away from the foundation of Scripture, the authority of God, and you begin to judge things through other latent see the world through other glasses and judge by other standards you shift on Israel and will be it'll be gradual but that will become quite pronounced to yes, evil is Israel's evil E, Israel's apartheid state. We should join the BDS movement so it doesn't just say have course, we stand with Israel, recognized the Jewish people been brought back to the land by God's sovereign hand. See, this is Israel's historic home and we stand with the Jewish people and we call the Jewish people to treat their Palestinian neighbors with justice and fairness and okay great. Make that semi-I'm all for that. But notice, shift like clockwork. Of course, Ben & Jerry's. If you assume this was coming I would follow their stance but no one understands him surprised it took them this long to get here all right soon as we come back immediately. This my gender. That's the next thing on my list going to your call 8665 the line of fire with your host Dr. Michael Brown get into the minor fire now by calling 866-34-TRUTH here again is Dr. Michael Brown joining us a lot of our this is Michael Brown looking thoroughly Jewish Thursday. Thanks for holding those who been waiting to get on the phones we start with cola in Rochester Hills, Michigan.

Welcome to the line of fire. Dr. Brown praised the Lord for his goodness and mercy. And prayer warriors on the Lord you men question for you regarding the clay in the iron mixed in Nebuchadnezzar's dream.

Is there a possibility that Becky would be a unification.

Perhaps Lico your about in America being Roman may actually Israel being the clay in some kind of United Kingdom that last Empire that a possibility or not.

I decide I said it's this far-fetched now with all respect to its vision and the interpretation is brought so your dream with a broad interpretation of the words. It's not giving us dates and specifics, but broadly we know it's speaking first of the Babylonian empire than the Medo Persian than the Greeks Empire and then the Roman Empire and the Roman Empire is what's being described there in the beginning of the end for the Roman Empire is is is Jesus the Messiah. That's that the little rock that comes in ultimately destroys itself it's it's it it's another reminder of the messianic error beginning to break out in the first century. But no, it's it is Romans just ends up mixed it strong, but it has its its human weakness to it and and I would go beyond that I wouldn't try the speculators to some meaning for today or Europe and America is regretfully not I go back 2000 years, and to the Roman Empire at that time and then it's crumble its growth and its crumbling and the centuries thereafter. It seemed to be like the King embedded. I know when the rock where the stone cut without hand strike that will Empire whatever it is yet wheat is somewhat naughty right that's why say it's it's far-fetched, but saw the kind of thing can write off categorically in terms of part of a larger meaning in terms of that is the whole world today being some kind of extension of the Roman Empire just don't see it like that. In other words, the stone striking to me is the very beginning of the messianic mission which continues to grow and spread there so it's it strike sent at the root of that in the Roman Empire and now continues to grow and spread is the kingdom, expands around the world.

So it's okay right so you're actually directly thing that that was that it started 2000 years ago exaggerate the County got right. I never thought of it like that right suggests that's what starts as a small stone right a variety okay right just like the parable of the mustard seed is the smallest of seeds in Palestinian culture or or is Israelite culture. This most of seeds and then it it becomes this giant tree or or is a little bit of of of yeast that's put in the Dell when it spreads through the hole that's that's how I understand it, but appreciate the call appreciate your your thinking of what you're looking at 866-34-TRUTH. Let's go to Dave and McBain, Michigan. Welcome to the line of fire family by God through all out what a pleasure.

Dr. Brown to talk anyway. I'll make a quick poll earlier this spring. I will do some YouTube videos and got on the Rabbi talking about the book of Ruth.

The better Redeemer than Boaz and one of the things that he talked about in his mind, and I don't believe you as a doctor, worker, believer that he thought that was a better picture of the coming Messiah. And what I've heard talk about that Boaz is a picture of the coming Christ. I would like them clarification on that yes so familiar with that argument right so the first thing is that traditional rabbis find many references to the Messiah in the text that Christians would not find that they are normally homiletical. In other words, a traditional Jew reads in the Torah centric way so obviously God the God of Israel, the one true God being the center of everything within is given a straw so as they're sitting Scripture there.

It's all about terrazzo about obedience to God.

So by keeping his commandments. So there thinking about raw for more than their it and and daily obedience to God studying and understanding the law far more than they are thinking about the Messiah, where's your Christians are constantly reading Scripture and and and really reading an a in a messy Messiah central waited looking for messianic prophecy and how it's understood. For the rabbis.

However, because Messiah is also important theme.

It's largely homiletical, it's largely kind of secondary applications and and no interpretive techniques to find itself. Delphi messianic prophecy in all kinds of places where we wouldn't had to give a give a direct answer to question about Boaz. In a moment, but I remember an Orthodox Jew from Israel had come to faith come with his family over the Israel spoke very little English at that time was in one of my classes as I was teaching in our inner messianic Bible school and graduate school teacher messianic prophecy and go to the Hebrew Bible. Some do my best to try to bring them in on things because in his English is weak and I'm trying your account. The Hebrew Scriptures, etc. but during the class. He's just reading through the Hebrew Bible is a lecturing and every so often he raises hand and pointer versus said Nico shifted says if you I think that this is about the Messiah and another guitarist right. I look at the verses take what that's but in his rabbinic mind. He had a certain method of interpretation reading in and seeing things so it wouldn't surprise me that someone in traditional Jew could CMS any kind of reference there. So here's the deal about Boaz Boaz is called to go whale so the kinsman redeemer the Messiah himself is called go whale the Redeemer. Like in Isaiah 5920 go whale. The Redeemer will come to Zion and into those who turn away from transgression in Jacob, so the Messiah as the, the Redeemer, the kinsman redeemer plays that particular role God himself can be Israel's go whale or the Messiah can be the go whale so because Boaz is the most famous Goel in the Bible and then directly through Ruth ends up in the line of David Wright it's grandson would be David so did and then excuse the great grandson of the Jesse David so it's it's it's not so much the specifics of what he does. Based on which we could say he's a type of the Messiah. He's a type of Christ of you could get into that but that to me is more homiletical, it's more that he was a Goel and he's a lesser Goel to the Messiah, who is the ultimate coil that would be to me the way, the argument would go just this based on function and not the specifics of what they did. If that makes sense to you wrote yeah and he referenced the couple that I thought were interesting that he was not given a name.

It's just the person commits Street and the reason why he wasn't given a name to speak of Christ is not our God is not revealed Messiah.

So there's a connection there in his mind and then you don't hear about them. You just kinda showed up at the that that significant time and in my mind it just like Google and an interesting that's weird. Maybe there's something there. Maybe there's something to it, but I'll bet that you know that that's got hungry for a long time to come to pass but yeah I mean it's it's nice again. To me it's it's just more, more, homiletical solar yeah I said oh, did a bit of course obit as a citizen is not all dead and obit yet so thank you for the call.

I appreciate your euro. Thank you Dr. and and you know here's your something interesting friends often people find you should interpretation really fascinating, and it often is.

But this means truthful or accurate or historically verifiable.

In other words, like your reading about somebody in the Bible you don't know anything about a new maybe Jewish tradition fills and stuff just like church traditions will fill things in about past characters.

Wow, I never there or may not be true though it may not be accurate.

So always test to see okay is this just rabbinic tradition has been passed on is the biblical substance behind it.

Is it historically verifiable if not be true. Maybe not sifted out as best you can but you use wow that's fascinating yeah, but not necessarily true. So always, always check in that regard. All right let us go to Patrick in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Welcome to the line of fire. The blessed side, PLM minute underground jerk.

I mentioned out of the question. In the calm I've heard that there's a rabbi. I don't remember but complaining that at ground the same year that Christ was directed sacrifice in the temple was no longer accepted by God called away public construction couple community borders are correct and if it is out of the rabbis today handled right so it's your mixing a couple of concepts but here, here is what's what's accurate. A good explain the tractate Yoma, which means the day dealing with the day of atonement. It deals with the customs surrounding the day of atonement and what happened with the high priest and how sacrifices were offered just all of the details and because the high priest was critical that he was able to function that day that he would be separated from wife, other relatives, lest somebody would die body falls and you accidentally or touch of excellent your defiled, you can't participate in just know all of the other regulations and how he prepares for that day and we know that a day of atonement.

There were two goats involved. There was the goat Hebrew losses. They'll which is normally translated to scapegoat based on it escaped out into the wilderness and then there was the goat that was sacrificed in his blood was was brought into the holiest place for atonement.

So, according to the traditions that developed later that two lots were were put in an urn. One for the Lord, one for us, a sale, and the priest would reach in and take them out.

If he reached in and took the one that said, for the Lord with his right hand. That was a good sign that the sacrifices be accepted, grabbed it with his left hand that some consider this resize will come back to them and then I'll tell you how this ties in with the time of the death of it's the line of fire with your host activist, author, international speaker and theologian Dr. Michael Brown voice of more cultural and spiritual revolution get into the line of fire now by calling 8664 through here again is Dr. Michael Brown thanks for joining us, modifying or just licking a post from Robert Facebook. One of the change the name to Ben and Jerry and the Führer listen, I do not appreciate with Ben & Jerry's is done its wrong spirit. It but let's not compare them to hit the police, we gotta be very careful or or other anything in a brownshirts you know.

Again, I understand what people are saying but let's be careful not to make comparisons like that because of the monstrous evil over the Nazis did monstrous and unprecedented. Okay, so back to the Talmud in tractate Yoma 39 a and B cylinder the normal additional columns front so the page back side of the page it said that there were three different signs by which the high priest would know the people would know whether the sacrifices on the day of atonement were accepted and the first would be one of the three. When the priest would reach into the urn to take out the two lots with right him of his left, that if the lot in the right hand came out for the Lord. That's the goat to be sacrificed in the in the tabernacle/temple that was good sign if you pull that one. The left-hand backside okay next would be that you had the candle stand and you would start lighting it from the westernmost candle over.

If that one was still burning, so you've got oil if the first one that you lit is the last one to go out. That was another sign that God had accepted the sacrifices and then the third sign was that there would be a scarlet thread that was tied to the. The horn of the goat that would be sent out to the wilderness and or to the front doors of the temple, and if that scarlet thread turned wife.

That was a sign that sins were except forgiven as per Isaiah 118 reasons, but scarlet will make them white as snow. Okay, so good. The tradition says that sometime before the days of Jesus. Shimon had Sadik Simeon the righteous to be second third century BC that the entire 40 years that he served as the high priest. All three signs came up positive. Every time. By the way, the tradition developed by the time of Jesus that that goat citizen into the wilderness. They drive off a cliff and and it would it would perish that way. In any case, the tradition says that those 40 years that he was the high priest, the sacrifices were always accepted Obstet because of his righteous intercession, but after that some years yes some years.

No, when it was yes the people would rejoice when it was no there is a sense of shame painted sins are forgiven. What's wrong this is.

This the last 40 years before the temple was destroyed. So what years the Temple destroyed the year 70. What year this Messiah die and rise this debate between scholars between 30 3330 has always seemed to be the right day to me based and other data all right.

Even the 40 year period does not to be taken is exact. For years, but for this exact four years is from 30 to 70 okay it says that the last 40 years the exact opposite of Shabbat Sadik, Simeon the righteous exact opposite the last 40 years before the temple was destroyed.

None of those three signs came up positive. All three came up negative every time the lot for the Lord was in the left-hand reserves the right him that the lot for us a sale for the goat to be sent to the wilderness that was in the right. The westernmost candle instead of going out last. We just got normally and the scarlet thread on the temple doors and door on the goats foreign would not turn white. It would remain red. The people see this and recognize their sins were forgiven. So Patrick, this is something that I have laid out for many many years as an indication even within rabbinic literature, it states attorney Robin which is that in or or or rabbis or sages taught. This is a tradition that's been passed on and that within the text is not disputed that that is a hidden confirmation that at that point, God said no more.

I provided a better way. No more. You've rejected the Messiah, so I'm not going etc. sacrifices now to be totally candid.

Traditional rabbis really take issue with me for doing that they feel I'm using their sacred texts to prove my homiletical point. They feel it's not fair to the text that I'm reading something into it and I don't accept other historical aspects of Talmud. Why should I accept that I understand their argument and understand it feels to them like I'm tampering with something sacred. I'm simply coming up with a logical deduction.

Isn't that striking people say is there any indication rabbinic literature review in any proof or wealth. That's something that gets my attention that I could ask a traditional Jew what you think that is and could be. That's when Messiah died and rose that on two levels got say no more.

Do sacrifices no more because you rejected the Messiah wash of Exeter sacrifices and no more because I have provided a better way.

So what of the Rabbi's and responsible. They say that instead of the sacrifices we have prayer we have other means that God really gave in the Old Testament in anticipation of the fact to be without the sacrificial system and sacrifices rose secondary to repentance. Those are arguments that give but of course all of them have very easy answers and responses to Patrick. I appreciate the call so again in the tractate Yoma.

The Babylonian Talmud, 30 9A, B, you get that full account. You say where can I find that bullets let's do it together. All right, so Chris, if you're ready undo this on my screen we go to the Safar real website SC F a RI a is a treasure trove of Jewish literature as its is a living library of Jewish texts, then we click on Rick this is the option with text on the since the Hebrew Bible, Mishna, foundational Jewish legal documents and statements from 200 years after Jesus then Talmud so we click on Talmud and then we go back down to save them all aid which is the order the missions divide into six orders go down to the order of of sacred days that the appointed times we click on Yoma and then when we we see on screen we go to Yoma and scroll down to chapter 3 which is 30 9A, Exodus chapter 4 start their and their it's gonna take us through the text with the Hebrew and English translation, the Stein Schultz expanded translation, and then after that it goes from Hebrew into more of an Aramaic so let's scroll down their little Chris it it starts with the statements in the Mishnah. And let's keep scrolling down on her screen until we get to what's called Gemara and there there we go tomorrow so if you're reading in Hebrew. It's a big jihad began big Gitmo big ma'am Gemara Molly trough the coffee water when he, the high priest of mixed the loss of in a receptacle before he draws the lot, etc. so it was interesting is in an expanded translation. I I am to read first, the translation here from Rabbi Ogden Stein Schultz, one of the great Jewish geniuses of this generation recently deceased. Why is going to read the whole thing right this is this paragraph, 120, the high priest of mixed the lots in a receptacle before he draws the lots. I know that he not be able to intentionally take the lot for God specifically with his right hand since it is since it is a fortuitous omen for the lot for God to arise in his right hand. There is a concern that he might force the result in contravention of the requirements of the indignant designation of the goats mates were random lottery. All right, that's is expanded translation.

What is the Aramaic actually say he has that involved why do I mixed in order that he not Seesmic.

Why do I mixed a receptacle in order that he not intentionally take that's that's how concisely written it is an Aramaic that so much. It assumes a larger familiarity with the subject matter or someone teaching you now how the teachers are doing this and in written form of soul.

In any case, we take that off the screen for those watching. But if you ever want to look up a text and get traditional Judaism's and the many of these are still not translated into English so it will help you if you can read Hebrew, Aramaic that many have been translated. It's a tremendous treasure trove great place to to see what Jewish people believe in their own words, see the texts for yourself.

But before you try to really wrap your mind around what Tom is saying a lot of the arguments a complex many times you have four, five, 10, 20 varied opinions than bringing other subjects tying things and with other verses and and it can be very confusing and difficult and he can pull something out some of the Thomases this and that's that's an accurate statement in my book Christian anti-Semitism which came out February and thankfully people from the impact of that I have a whole chapter called the truth about the Talmud in my book Christian anti-Semitism, the truth about the Talmud and their I explain that there are a lot of misunderstandings and misconceptions about the tongue to accept the Thomases hearted of course I met a traditional Jew to accept it is inspired in a unique and super supernaturally know if I did I'd be a traditional Jew do I find much beauty and wisdom that yes do I find much legalism and convoluted legal discussion. Yes. Do I find some disturbing traditions yes it's the massive work mixed in many ways but let's bear with it as me using my friends special broadcast coming your way tomorrow will really answer your Bible translation was blessed another program powered by the Truth Network
