Thank you to everybody tuned in all over North America. You could be in Vancouver. You could be in San Diego. You could be up in, I don't know, Bangalore. You could be in Miami.

And then you could just fill in the blanks. I basically hit every corner of the country and including Canada. That's what we broadcast. And so thank you for listening on your local affiliate. Thank you for tuning in on the free Odyssey app.

Thank you for locking in on Sirius XM Channel 158. And if you talk to computers for a living, thank you for listening to a smart speaker. You know that smart speaker's listening to you all the time.

That's a different conversation for another day. Hey Shep, how long is it going to be before I can just like clock out the show and have like an artificial me do it? How long is that going to take? I'm going to say never, because it's just not the same if you have an artificial robot doing this as opposed to JR Sport Brief. You don't think so? You don't think so? But in terms of technology, I don't know, maybe 10 years?

I think sooner than that. What's the, um, I should know this. What is it? Chat GBT, right? You want to write? Yeah. Chat GBT. Yeah.

Right. You want to, what do you want it to do? I don't want it to do anything. I think I can, I think I can just take a hike for a minute, you know, and just have artificial me. It could probably sound like me. I might be, I might be a robot right now. You don't even know it. You're not, because I could literally say to you, what happened to the Yankees tonight was disgusting.

And the Mets didn't do themselves any favors. And if I was talking to a robot in real time, you wouldn't be able to have an authentic reaction. No, that's not true. The robot would know the score. It'd give you the stats right out of the gate. It would do everything that I do. Right. But it wouldn't be able to look at it from a comprehensive, esoteric, sophisticated, you know, layer.

It would, it would be very surface level and there's nothing surface level about you. You never saw Terminator? Um, I always watch, uh, movies with good acting. You didn't see how he was a robot. He was a cyborg and he understood emotions. He became, he became a father to a kid.

Was that before or after he was unfaithful to Maria? That has nothing to do with the movie. This was a cyborg that basically became, he understood, he couldn't cry, but he understood emotions. Really?

Yeah. See, you want to tell me that a robot could not sit here and do sports talk radio? You want to tell me?

Well, you can make an argument that there's a lot of people that do sports talk radio that just regurgitate what they hear every single day on TV shows and radio shows and other platforms and therefore they do sound robotic. You're not one of them. Name some, name some people. Oh no, no, nevermind. No, no, no, no, do not do not do it.

Nope, Nope, Nope, Nope, Nope. 8 5 5 2 1 2 4 CBS. It's 8 5 5 2 1 2 4 CBS. I just gave you a top six list before we went to break and congratulations to the Florida Panthers. They're on their way to the Stanley cup playoffs. They won with like five seconds left and in regulation.

And we'll play that audio for you in a bit, but congratulations to them. The hurricanes are out. My apologies to all my folks in Raleigh. I got a lot of friends out in North Carolina state representing, but yeah, this is the Florida Panthers time and they'll probably go ahead and take on the Vegas Knights.

It's just a matter of when they get going there. And then we know the Boston Celtics, they're going to try to stay alive on Thursday night against the Miami Heat. And so with tonight's top six list, and then we'll hear from some of the quarterbacks, a lot of QBs spoke today, so we'll get there as well.

But I gave you a top six. We looked at active athletes who have bounced back from just ridiculous circumstances. Is it adversity? Is it an injury?

If you need the full explanation, hit the rewind on Odyssey, okay? And number six, I gave you Jimmy Butler and number five, I gave you Ronald Acuna Jr. And number four, I gave you Geno Smith and number three, I gave you Jamal Murray and number two, I gave you Jared Goff. Plays for the Lions. Come on. And then number one, I gave you Damar Hamlin, which I think is pretty self-explanatory. And if you don't understand the reason, just listen to him talk about why he feels so great and what's the biggest moment of everything going on right now.

Damar Hamlin. Not to sound cliche, man, but the wild moment is every day just being able to wake up and just take deep breaths and live a peaceful life, to have a family, to have people around me that love me and that care about me, and for those people to still have me in their lives. They almost lost me.

I died on national TV in front of the whole world. You know what I mean? So I see it from all perspectives.

And for them to still have me around and for me to still have them, it goes both ways. Yeah. I mean, the guy died. He doesn't have to play a down in the NFL. He's in the NFL. He's still in the league.

He's participating in OTAs right now. What else do you want from the guy? 855-212-4CBS. It's 855-212-4CBS. Kurt's calling from California. You're on the JR Sport Brief Show. What's up, Kurt?

Hey, JR. I've been listening on the telephone. I was wondering if you're listening to a radio show on the telephone, has it become a telephone show? Well, no. It's a sports talk radio show. You get it however you get it.

I don't know. Well, listen, I just wanted to say it's a pleasure speaking with you. I'd like to give a shout out to the six men on your list. Resilience, commitment, determination and never giving up.

I think that's what they all have in common. But I wanted to make a statement and then I wanted to ask you a question. Sure.

The statement is, well, let's get to the question. Please. Do you think that it would be a good idea for the Lakers to try to acquire John Moran?

The answer is no. And at the same time, his contract is absolutely ridiculous. That's if he can even play. I wouldn't entertain it because the last thing he needs to think about is basketball. Well, I was thinking maybe if there was some way I thought that being with LeBron James might help him tremendously because being with a man of LeBron James' character might be very helpful to him.

Well, here's the thing. LeBron James is going to be out the door sooner than later. Is that going to be two or three or four years or is it going to be two months?

We have no idea. I don't really believe he's going to retire. John Moran doesn't need to focus in on basketball right now. And even if he was, I don't believe going to Los Angeles, which is full of distractions, is going to be the best thing for him.

And then if I do have to think about money, which he may or may not see, he's going to be missing a chunk of it. Him fitting into the Lakers salary cap is not a smart or good idea right now because they have too many holes to fill with Ruhi Hachimura and Austin Reeves, etc. It sounds nice in principle. Maybe LeBron James can give him a call, but I don't think that would be a smart move for the Los Angeles Lakers or John Moran. Okay, can I make a statement then really quick?

Yes, please, quick. If you have if you have that six men who've made recoveries, hopefully John Moran will be on that list next year should you have one. I certainly hope so, Kurt.

I mean, the way he's going, I certainly hope so. Thank you for calling from Cali. Thank you for accepting my call and shout out to Shep.

No doubt about it. Thank you, Kurt. James is calling from Atlanta. You're in the JR sport re-show. What's up, James? Hey, what's up, man? Hey, the way that clip was with Shep, it's going to be a couple months that AI going to come and take over the show.

Take over? How do you figure it's not here? Well, you know, he was a little slow with that clip, but hey, how would you feel if it started being AI callers coming in and you actually talking to AI callers? You calling me from Atlanta or you calling me from a spaceship?

No, I'm calling you from Atlanta, man. Okay. I don't know. Maybe you're, are you the computer?

I don't know. Maybe that would be creepy, wouldn't it? Yeah.

Well, have you, well, there's a lot of creepy things going on in the world, right? Right, right, right. Yeah, man. So, um, I'm in Atlanta, man. And, um, are you getting ready for the carnival, JR?

Which one? Oh, no, I did some things last year. Not this year. No.

Okay. You got to get Shep on that, man. Uh, what did they do it at? Uh, they do it at Central Park, right? Oh yeah. You already know. Yeah. That's not, not too far from the studio. I know. Yes.

What else you got? Yeah, man. So, um, you, man, I, and I'm surprised you forgot about this guy and I would have to say Tiger Woods. Um, it's amazing comeback and you got to put in his age and all the other injuries that he had. And when he had that car accident and he had two fractured legs, he was even lucky to be alive.

They would talk and they, the man is amazing. He was able to walk and for him to come back. And then he, I think he played his first, he played in that celebrity game with his son and then, and then he actually made the cut, you know, and that to me that, uh, besides, you know, the first person that you had, I have to put him second, man. Cause to me, that's amazing for him to even be able to walk into compete in the comeback. You are 100% correct. It is just so difficult, so difficult to think about Tiger Woods and you're right.

He also could have been dead for different reasons than, than, than Damar Hamlin. But it seems like there's always something for Tiger Woods to come back from. Is it a car accident? Is it a woman?

Is it a drug? Is he, is he a robot? Is he indestructible?

So it's hard for me to put him in that light because it's never like, Oh, well, he's here. He's back. He's good. He's cool.

And now he's getting sued for 30 mil by some woman that he, uh, you know, kicked out of his house. It's it's wild, man. Yeah. Yeah.

Yeah. Do you think he'll ever, do you think, I mean, I think it's amazing for him to come back. I don't really yeah, no, no, I don't see that. But do you think he should even still compete? Like I don't think he should compete.

I think he's just, you know, Tiger Woods set out of his own mouth. His time is coming to a close. He just had ankle surgery. Okay.

He's having ankle surgery from the, the, the car crash from two years ago where they almost had to take his leg off. Wow. Wow.

I mean, come on. So yeah, he can come back. He can keep coming back, but is it going to be a surgery or is it going to be a woman that gets them next time? Yeah. He needs to stay away from them women, man. Yeah.

Maybe he needs to go to computerize women, James and they out there. Yeah. Less, less trouble. Hey, I don't know about him, but I guess less trouble.

Thank you so much. Yeah. I don't know what a computerized woman is that a, Hey chef, that'll be the next thing you can do. They stay. I guess they still do that, right? I don't know. Remember they used to have the phone numbers late at night and I never did it, but because it costs a lot of money, but they used to have the number you call up and you do whatever. I think they still do that. Well, now it's the computer.

I do it on a computer. I guess now. No, I think there's still phone operators that engage in that. Yeah. But 2023, you use a computer, you want to use a phone. No. Cause there's, I mean, listen, there's a lot of people that are old fashioned that like, that like a voice and don't like it digitally. Oh, well, I mean with the computer probably now, modern computers, you get, you get visuals, but I don't know.

I would think that that would also be a job that would not exist because a computer can do it. Right? No. Yeah. I'm thinking out loud. Yeah.

A computer can do that. Who, who would even, even psychic friends, chef, remember psychic friends network. Do not. Oh, miss Cleo. Oh, miss Cleo.

Of course. I remember miss Cleo. Yeah. I think she was part of psychic friends network.

Maybe she did her own thing. Who needs them when you could just ask, ask the digital psychic, right? Right. I guess that's chat GPT.

That's right. I'm going to ask chat GPT in a commercial break about the future. I'll let you know what it says. 8 5 5 2 1 2 4 CBS. It's 8 5 5 2 1 2 4 CBS. Qua is calling from Charlotte. You're on the JR sport brief show. What's up, Qua? Hey, hey, JR. Hey, I've talked to you before. You rock it. You kill it every, every day, day in and day out.

But my guy is Deshaun Watson. He's fighting through all those accusations. He's getting the money, he's getting the bag, and then he's going to take Cleveland to the playoffs. That's what he does.

That's what he does. Are they accusations or what? I mean.

How many things have been settled? Yeah, but that's what I'm trying to tell you. Why?

Say that again? I said, why were they settled? So he can go collect money, not because, well, you know what? At some point, being at that level, JR, you're going to have to, you're going to have to settle just to make sure that, you know what, I need to move forward. Yeah. I understand why he settled, but I mean, the man doesn't appear to be innocent of stupidity, okay?

No, I get it. He's weird and he does what he does, but at the end of the day, he's got his bag. He's doing what he needs to do, but he's going to lead that team to the playoffs and do what they got to do.

That's a good team in there in Cleveland. Yeah. He'll, well, let's see if he bounces back. He might also be interested. It might be a benefit for him. He can pick up the virtual women on the phone instead of going to get massages. That might work out better for him.

Hey, thank you. I get it, but he's still a son. Yeah. He can play football. We know that.

He likes to play other things. Hey, thank you. Absolutely. All right.

Take care. Yep. We're going to be talking more about Deshaun Watson later this year.

I certainly think so. Allen is calling from Toronto. Go ahead, Allen. This guy is currently playing for the Vegas Golden Knights. He had his iron man streak on April 29th.

It was broken, but he has 1,149 consecutive games played, including playoffs. June the, sorry. Slow down, Allen. Sure. Okay. Just say the guy's name. Phil Kessel.

Okay. Well, now that you've said his name, let's also do this. Why do you consider him to be someone who's someone bounced back? What did he bounce back from?

Testacular cancer in 2006. He came from the 11th, 2006. He was admitted to hospital. In 2011, he got out of hospital cancer-free. On January 9th, 2007, he was recalled by the brooms.

He only missed 11 games, and he won a silver medal in the 2010 Olympics, and the rest is history. Look at his iron man streak. When did it end?

It ended in January 9th, 2007. The iron man? No, no. The iron man streak. I'm talking about him coming back to the brooms. He only missed 11 games in 2007, and he won a silver medal. No, wait, wait.

Help me out here. He played from 2007 until when? He played every game from 2007 until when? Until right around now. Okay. Okay. Well, thank you. There we go. Yeah, he came back from testacular cancer in 2006. I know what testicles are, Allen.

They're balls. I get it. Thank you. God bless him. Yeah, and he came back from adversity. That is adversity. You have to admit that.

It is. Listen, I got to slow down here before I get yelled at, but you don't have to convince me that coming back from testicular cancer is something to bounce back from, okay? Thank you, Allen. You only missed 11 games. This is an iron man streak.

If I'm Quarren Leonard, I'm going to ask him, how did you get your iron man streak? He could give me some kind of advice. Maybe Kawhi doesn't have balls either, Allen. There you go.

Yeah, but he, you know. No, he didn't expect me to say that. Allen, thank you for calling from Toronto. Always great being on the line with you. Thanks very much, JR. Thank you, Allen. Hey, chef, he didn't expect the conversation to go there, did he? No, and he reacted kind of, you know, quickly and effectively. I got one for you, JR, who I was thinking of.

Go ahead. I'll give you a hint. He's one of two guys who's actually on the nuggets bench that contributes. And he had, you know, the other guy, he had open heart surgery 11 years ago. Oh, Jeff Green. It's a miracle that he's still alive, let alone still playing at a high level.

And he's in year 16. Yeah, Jeff Green. He's amazing, man. Oh, he just, he gets to run around like a pogo stick. He's a pro.

Yes. It's good to still see him out there, man. Let's see him out there. Somebody else in the league had an open heart surgery.

What is somebody else? He's gone now. Nene? Didn't Nene Hilario have it? Yeah, Nene's not too far removed.

But I believe you're right about that. Yeah, because he was with the Rockets for a while. Oh, Ronnie Turiaf had it too.

That's a good, yeah. That's, obviously his career didn't have the longevity of Nene nor Jeff Green, but yeah. He's nutty.

He's a nutty Frenchman, man. He was with the Knicks for a little bit. You remember that?

Well, Lakers, Knicks. He played a bunch of places. Yeah.

I'm pretty, what do you think? He's in Paris right now, sleeping. Getting ready to have a, I don't know, a croissant or something like that. I don't know. You know what? Seems like a really good dude. Oh, he's a goofball. Yeah.

I'm sure, sure Victor Winbanyama and him are very good friends. It's the JR Sport Reef Show here with you on CBS Sports Radio. We're going to get some more of your calls. We're going to hear from some of these quarterbacks who actually have spoken today or yesterday during OTAs. It's the JR Sport Brief Show, CBS Sports Radio.

Don't move. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief on CBS Sports Radio. Hey JR, thanks for having me on. First time caller. Yeah, great show. I really like your show. You're really patient and I think you're really objective.

Call in now at 855-212-4CBS. It's the JR Sport Brief Show on CBS Sports Radio and we're talking about all of these athletes who've been able to bounce back and DeMar Hamlin, number one, without a shadow of a doubt. But I mean, damn.

Is this guy going to bounce back? He's in the off season and he's still like, get away from social media. Some people can't help themselves. Like, people are going to talk.

Why do you got to respond to everything? I'm talking about Kyrie Irving. We saw the Los Angeles Lakers lose to the Denver Nuggets on Monday. Kyrie Irving was in the crowd.

Trae Young was in the crowd. Of course, we know that LeBron James wanted Kyrie. You would certainly believe that Kyrie wanted to reunite with LeBron James on the Lakers.

It didn't come to fruition. And so naturally, there's so many rumors about what Kyrie Irving is going to do. Is he going to stick around with the Dallas Mavericks to share a basketball with Luka? Is he going to try to go out to Los Angeles? Is he going to give the Lakers a discount?

So many rumors. Well, Kyrie Irving, he was on Instagram Live and he says, don't believe idiots on TV or people like me either. You know, I don't say anything. Listen to Kyrie.

I'm a free agent this summer, but I am in no rush to make a decision. And the speculation around my name from all these individuals that get on TV and have these personalities. I'm on live here. Just give me one second. All these people that have, you know, these platforms.

And I'm talking about the TV personalities, the sports folk that try to mix sports with politics and lifestyle and like that, like. When they speak on my name and they're talking about potential teams that I'm going to, can you please respectfully, like I'm asking, please stop paying attention to that. I am in no rush to make a decision.

I know what's ahead of me for the rest of my career. Oh, man, just it's not going to change anything. Why bother, man?

Just pick a team and go. Who cares what anybody says? You're a celebrity.

Who cares what people say? Just go play, man. 855-212-4CBS. Nick is calling from Sacramento. What's up, Nick? How you doing, JR? Excellent.

Go ahead. I was thinking, I didn't expect the question on the athletes with the greatest character. I didn't expect the question on the athletes with the greatest comeback because I just got off work. Well, we're not the greatest comeback, not the great. We're talking about athletes who have bounced back right now, active today. What's going on this moment today? Right now, this spear several months now.

All right. I would go with, I think, Tyson Fury, the boxer on his comeback after going through drug addiction to defeat Deontay Wilder. A little less recent, but he's still active, I gather, I guess, yes. Yeah.

And then I also got to go with, this is four years ago, but I got to go with Tiger Woods' win of the 2019 Masters after his car accident. A lot has brought him back down since then, but good luck to him. Thank you, Nick. Yeah. Yeah, you're welcome. Thank you.

No doubt about it. Emily is calling from San Diego. You're on the JR Sport Brief Show. What's up, Emily? Well, what's up, JR? Hope you're doing well. I'm just calling because tonight's show is a fantastic show with a lot of variety and I listen to you almost every night.

And I just wanted to say that Shep and you were talking, and I just wanted to briefly put some insight into your idea. Emily, hold on one second. I'm sorry. I'm distracted here in the studio. I don't know what this is. ESPN or something is on.

There were just some bears shaking toilet paper off of their asses, and it was a Charmin commercial that caught my attention. My apologies. Go ahead, Emily. Sorry. Oh, that hurt. Anyway, let me just say that you can't be more wrong about that virtual versus realistic phone calls that men make.

You may have never tried it, but it sounds to me like Shep knows that. What? What did you just say? Did you just make a phone hotline joke? What? No, you made the joke, JR. Remember? And you said they only go virtual, see?

And Shep was the one who came back, and he was correct, actually. There's a lot of things that virtual cannot replace in this day and age. With a video camera?

No, there's no video camera. It's a voice, you know, listening to your sports players, listening to celebrities. What about listening to me? What about my voice?

I'm here for four hours a night. You excite me. Your voice is very exciting and seductive, and then you can turn around and fight with the best. Hey, do you understand, Emily? Do you understand I actually have to raise my voice a few octaves for radio?

Because if not, this would be like the quiet storm. Do you understand that, Emily? No, I totally understand, and I appreciate the job you do and the insight you give out and the responses that people come back at.

You are just above everything besides when Shep is on. Well, thank you, Emily. Well, listen, Emily, if I sat here and did my normal speaking voice for four hours, I'd have to charge people $9.99 to speak to me, Emily, okay?

No, it's not that much. Anyway, yes, okay, I'm your favorite door dasher, and I listen to you and all the talk shows. Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold on, hold on. What do you pick up the most? Like, what do you deliver the most? Like, what a burger?

Like, what do you deliver the most? Taco Bell. People are eating Taco Bell in San Diego. Taco Bell.

Yes, yes, everybody wants Taco Bell off the door dash. Okay, well, Emily, you can be safe out there. Sounds like you got the car in the hazard, okay?

No, I have the car in reverse. All right, drive safe. Okay, well, thank you, and you guys take care. All right, thank you, Emily. Appreciate you.

Okay, thanks. Hey, Shep, she just said a whole lot there, man. I don't... Say something. I don't know what to say.

I don't know. Clearly, she was indicating. She's a huge fan of your voice. No matter what form of that voice may come from. It may come from a robot. Well, because, you know, you really raised your voice a few octaves, JR.

I didn't know that. Man, if I had the city, yeah, who wants to listen to me? If I sat, yeah, I have to. The voice is raised a little bit. I see. I, because I've obviously spoken to you on the phone many times, and I've spoken to you in person when you're off the air, I think your voice sounds the same. It's the energy. It's the energy for radio, man. I always see... It's the inflection, the voice inflection. Okay, I mean, I always get the same energy when you walk in the building, and I don't think you manufacture it.

Not necessarily. By the way, why were you distracted with a bear and toilet paper? Like, that commercial's been around for a while now. No, because one second I'm looking at the Milwaukee Brewers, and then the next thing I know, there's a red bear shaking his ass, and I'm like, what is this?

Let me tell you something. The only reason to pay attention to the Brewers last 20 years is because of that announcer. He's unbelievable.

You want to talk about delivering the goods. Bob Euchre, Mr. Baseball himself, he's incredible. Vince Scully got all the praise, and rightfully so, in our IP to the great late Vince Scully. But Bob Euchre deserves to be in that same breath of all-time great broadcasters. Unfortunately for me, while I sit here with headphones on and a microphone in front of me, I can't hear anything but me and you and the callers.

JR, he's still got it. I don't know how often you listen to Milwaukee Brewers broadcasts. I don't. I'm sitting here when they're on.

What am I supposed to do? Well, I mean, there's one day of the week where you're not actually on the air. Sunday? Yes. You think on the day off, you think I'm watching a broadcast? Yes.

You think on the day off, you think I'm watching the Brewers? You are a student of the craft, and so I would say yes. Bob Euchre still sounds like he could be doing this for another 20 years. Let's hook him up with Cedric Maxwell. Yes.

I love him. Pancakes in the face with no serve, right? Yes, and take that, Pat Riley. Yeah.

Why not? I'm here for it. It's the JR Sport Reshow here on CBS Sports Radio. We'll get some more of your calls before we roll out. And then let's listen to some of the quarterbacks. A lot of them spoke today.

Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes. We got more to do. Best sports show in the country, my friend. Always a pleasure to talk to you, brother. Call in now at 855-212-4CBS.

It's the JR Sport Reshow on CBS Sports Radio. Damn it, it's my last segment of the night. Sorry. Sorry, not sorry. I'll be back with you tomorrow, though.

10 p.m. Eastern, 7 Pacific. But before we go anywhere, I'm going to pick up the phone lines. And I mentioned to you, a lot of NFL teams, everybody is having OTAs and quarterbacks are speaking. And I want to share with you some of the commentary and audio that we've gotten over the past 24 hours and some big names like the defending Super Bowl champion, Patrick Mahomes. Everybody is getting paid around him. Well, now Aaron Rodgers makes more money per year and Lamar Jackson makes more money per year. And Joe Burrow eventually will make more money per year. And the Chiefs have said, yeah, we're going to pay Patrick Mahomes. But Patrick Mahomes is like, listen, I got a lot of money. I want to make sure we got other guys on the team. I care about my legacy.

Listen to Patrick Mahomes. Me, my agent and the team always keep open communication. We try to do whatever is the best for the team. But obviously I want to do the best for myself as well. But at the same time, I want to I've always said I worry about legacy and winning rings more than making money at this moment. But I know we keep communication. We see what's going on around the league. But at the same time, I'll never do anything that's going to hurt us from keeping the great players around me.

So it's kind of teetering around that line. How honorable. Somebody that just took a lot of money. Lamar Jackson. He got a new offensive coordinator. Greg Roman is gone.

He got new toys to play with. Lamar, he spoke to the media today and he says, oh yeah, because I feel like this is my offense now. Lamar, first impression of your new offense and how do you see this decision will benefit your game? Our new offense is smooth. More verbiage than usual.

I like it. I'm loving it so far. Are you saying anything in this offense so far that maybe you wanted to see out of the new offense coming in? Well, I just said it, you know, like more verbiage. Basically just giving us the keys to the offense, really.

Like I said, I'm loving it. Yeah, I hope he's healthy at the end of the year. Speaking of healthy, Aaron Rodgers already got a little tweak in his, his calf. It's still early. It's May.

Who cares, right? I'm still thinking something might have hit Aaron Rodgers in the head. He says it's surreal to be a New York Jet. It was surreal for sure and strange to look at my locker and see a number eight or to, you know, be rocking Jets gear.

It's a little bit strange for sure, but every day there's been something that's kind of been a little special sign or synchronicity or just a cool moment that reminds me I'm in the right place. Yep. Strange to be a Jet.

I think anyone that's ever put on the green and white fields that way. I got a lot of friends who are ex-Jets and they wouldn't publicly say so, but I think they'd agree. Hey, somebody who plays in that same division, AFC East, just go further upstate or actually in New York State and let's go to the Buffalo Bills who can't get over the damn hump. So Josh Allen is already thinking about this upcoming season. Understanding our window and I want to give everything that I have for as long as I play and, you know, I'm not saying that I haven't done that in the past, but there's always new ways that I can find to get better and not being complacent with what I'm doing on the field. Understanding that there's a lot of plays that we left out there and, you know, statistically you look at it where we were top three, four offense in the league last year and it wasn't good enough. So just losing the playoffs isn't fun, you know, and I so badly want to bring Super Bowl here to Buffalo and I just don't want anything to get in the way of allowing me to be the best quarterback that I can be for this team.

Okay. This press conference sounds like he's in mid-season form, like save some for October, November. Just park a little bit. Well, this guy always seems like he's in mid-season form. Press conferences are so inspirational, uplifting.

It's Derek Carr, no longer in Vegas, but in New Orleans. Listen to this. I downplay a lot of things, but I came here for one reason and one reason alone, that's to win. And I believe that, you know, I can, I can do that. I believe that in myself, I believe in my teammates, believe in this organization that they can help me do that because I can't do it by myself.

You know, no one can. And so I think that I can add value. I think they add value to me. And I think that there's things here where they're helping me be a better football player and they're pushing me and they're, they're doing certain things that, that I'm comfortable with and that, that I've succeeded at for, you know, nine years, you know, hey man, you're really good at these things. Let's, let's do those things, you know, and, you know, this is something that we like. Let's see if, let's see if you're good at it.

Let's see if, you know, it fits you. And I just, I always feel that I can be better because I work to be better every day. So I hope to be better. Okay, good for him. Anyway, hey, at least we didn't hear from Russell Wilson. I'm thrilled about that.

And this, this kind of sucks. If you want to know how the Seattle Seahawks feel about Russell Wilson, they have given away his number three jersey. They're giving away his number three. He ain't there no more. They gave it to a newly signed cornerback in Artie Burns.

Yeah, that should let you know how they feel about Russell Wilson up in Seattle. Ouch. 855-212-4CBS. It's 855-212-4CBS. You gotta be quick folks. Tony, calling from Buffalo. Go ahead, Tony. Hey, JR, thanks for taking my call. I will go to the hall to hear it for ya. Appreciate you sending love out to DeMar Hamlin, paraphrasing coach McDermott. He's been in the building one day at a time and when he's ready, he'll be on the field. I would like to touch on the New England Patriots cheating once again. I think if you mentioned balls earlier, if Roger Goodell had balls, he finally put his foot down and cut their salary cap by 50% and take away their first two rounds the next two years of the draft.

That's what I got. Thanks. Thank you, Tony, for calling from Buffalo. Bill Belichick. Arthur's calling from Mississippi. What's up, Arthur? What's going on, JR? Yeah, I said you gotta be quick. I'm great.

What's up? Hey, man, I think OBJ should have been like number two. What?

He didn't even play. He ain't come back yet. I know it, man. I know it. Hey, but it's gonna be spectacular, man.

It's gonna be a great year, brother. Okay. All right. Well, we'll see, Arthur.

We got time to see what he does with the Ravens. Appreciate you. All right, one.

No doubt. Mack from Buffalo who can't be quick. Go ahead, Mack.

Hey, yes, I can. You know, I didn't hear you listen. I'm gonna have to listen to the replay. I'm waiting for football season. I think the NBA is gonna be the Denver Nuggets, and I'm waiting for football season. I think this is gonna be the Bills year. It has to be.

Josh Allen's getting up there, and he was the best spoken out of all those quarterbacks, so in my opinion. But you have a good time at the finals when you get to it. Okay, thank you. And all of that. Stay out of trouble, JR. Okay, thank you. Love you too. Bye. Thanks for having me on. You're welcome. Damn it, that was quick.

Jamal from Atlanta. You gotta be quick too. Okay, real quick. I think Boston's gonna come back. Reason number one. They're the better team. Reason number two.

Two out of the three games will be here in Boston. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Well, Jamal, where are you calling? Are you in the toilet? Yeah, you call. Yeah, I can't. I gotta hang up.

I'm not talking about the toilet. No, no, no, no. Call me tomorrow. No, no. My last caller, I'm like, are you on the John? He's like, no, no, no, no, no.

Don't hang up. Come on, man. I wasn't born yesterday. I've used the restroom quite a few times. I know what sound. I listen to sounds for a living. Audio. I gotta hear for things. Come on, man.

I know what sound bouncing off of, of porcelain sounds like. That was terrible. Only thing that would have been worse is if Russell Wilson spoke at a press conference. I'm glad we didn't have to listen to that.

Anyway, it's the JR sport brief show on CBS Sports Radio. These are things that are gonna happen, right? People are calling me. I don't know what these people are doing before they call me. I don't know what they're doing while they're talking to me.

It's terrible. Anyway, I'll be back with you tomorrow. 10 p.m. Eastern time, 7 Pacific. We're gonna see if the Boston Celtics stay alive or whether or not they're just gonna lay down and quit like they did on Sunday. Congratulations to the Florida Panthers. Maybe the Miami Heat will join you tomorrow and maybe the Las Vegas Golden Knights will get rid of the Dallas Stars. If you miss me between now and tomorrow, it's simple.

I'm on social media everywhere at JR Sport Brief. I hope anybody that calls me tomorrow is not sitting on the toilet. Is that a, is that a decent hope, Shep? Yes, sir. Okay.

We're done here, folks. Have a good night. Be safe. Be well, be awesome. Wash your hands, okay?

The JR Sport Brief Show on CBS Sports Radio is done, but don't go anywhere. Why? A, because I said so. B, because Amy Lawrence is coming up next.
