I'm here with you, everybody listening across North America. I'm in Atlanta, Georgia, just minding my business, taking it one day at a time, staying out of trouble. I hope you're getting money, I hope you're relaxing, I hope you're getting ready for bed, I hope you're getting ready for some other things.

Other things are nice. Have some other things for me. Anyway, 855-212-4CBS.

That's 855-212-4CBS. You can find me online. I'm on Twitter. I'm on Instagram, at JR Sport Brief. I'm on Facebook too.

People see me on Facebook, they see me everywhere. And we've had a busy night. Thank you once again to Michael B. Jordan, Mila Davis Kent, all the folks at MGM. And we had a nice, nice comments here on the show by Michael B. Jordan. I had a chance to ask him about the movie Creed, Creed 3. He talked about directing, his debut, the messages that he wanted from the film, just diversity in the film. Mila Davis Kent, who acts and portrays his daughter Amara in the film, is hard of hearing, she's deaf. I mean, there's so many amazing stories in the film outside of Jonathan Majors character trying to beat Michael B. Jordan, his former friend, to a pulp. It's an amazing film.

Go ahead and see Creed 3. If you missed the interview, it's real simple. You can go ahead and hit rewind on the free Odyssey app. Phone lines are bumping, the phone lines are jumping. I want to get back to the NFL combine as well. We had a variety of coaches speak. The combine actually ends on Monday.

And I feel like nobody has worked out yet. And Dan Campbell, a matter of fact, let's play Dan Campbell and then I'm going to get to your calls. Dan Campbell has the greatest description of the combine so far.

Listen to the line said coach. It's a spectacle. And to me, it's more at this point, just to be able to sit with these guys, for us to be able to do these formal interviews or informal is to me the biggest part of all this. It's not even the work and out portion.

Like to me, you grade them off the tape, you know, grade off somebody out here in pajamas running around on 40 with no defender around. Yeah. Yeah.

Okay. The Morris Smith said the same thing in about, I don't know, two minutes. Do we need Dan Campbell needs to speak on behalf of everybody for everything all the time.

The only thing missing was the abuse part where he talks about kneecaps and ankles, punching people's teeth out, etc. What a great head coach. I want to play for Dan Campbell. Not what it sounds too violent 855-2124 CBS. What do we got here? We got my call from Chicago, you and when you knock us down. We're going to get up and on the way up. We're going to buy the kneecap off.

All right, and we're going to stand up and then it's going to take two more shots to knock us down. Shep, he should run for president. He might run for mayor of Detroit. He keeps winning the way he is.

Oh, he could. He can get that job easy. I like him.

He's fun. Mike is calling from Chicago. You're on CBS Sports Radio. What's up, Mike? I wanted to thank you for your support of the Special Olympics.

We have a 42 year old son with Down syndrome. And when he was born in Albany, Georgia, I was in the public health service as a pediatrician and well meeting people told us, well, you know, God gives special special children to special people. And I said, Well, you must be a sorry son of a gun.

You didn't get one. And I went, I went through the grieving of, you know, the denial, the bargaining, the anger, the depression and here 42 years later, our son is kind and loving and forgiving. He lives in the present moment. He's not materialistic.

I live in Wheaton, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. We call him St. Andrew of Wheaton. And it's just something about human beings with special needs and special challenges that really show us the value and the meaning of life. So thank you.

No doubt about that. Hey, Mike, have you listened to the Agents of Inclusion podcast that I just started? I haven't.

I just heard about it tonight. That's why I call. Yeah, please, please check it out. You know, for all of the garbage that we have on on airwaves and radio and podcasts, you know, I wanted to do something for what you just described.

People who get told that they can't do this or they can't do that or you're not capable of doing this. And so the more people who take a listen to this podcast is better. And then we can continue to go out there and do more.

So the Agents of Inclusion, if you Google it, it's going to come right up. Make sure you subscribe. Mike, I appreciate you, man. Spread the word, OK?

OK. Thanks a lot. Thank you so much.

All the best to your family. 855-212-4CBS. That's 855-212-4CBS. Doug is calling from Georgia. What's up, Doug? You're on CBS Sports Radio. What's up, J.R.?

How are you? Listen, I was going to talk about something crazy like the Rooney Rule for ownership in the NFL. But after listening to Mike. I digress. I think that's awesome.

That's what he was talking about. And I'm going to leave it there, man. I'm just God bless you. And you invite everybody in your audience to talk about their lives and everything that's going on. And I know you do all this with the Special Olympics.

And I'm just going to perk it there, bro. Love you, man. Have a good night. I love you, too, Doug.

Thank you for calling from Georgia. Yeah. And I don't do this crap for, and I called it crap. I guess that shows you where my brain is. I don't do this for no pat on the back. I don't. I don't.

I could kill us. I want people to get an opportunity. That's it?

That's it? There ain't no other reason? I want people to thrive. I want people to be awesome.

I want people to live and see their potential. And Michael B. Jordan said it about a movie. It's a movie.

And it teaches lessons. He said it at the end of his comments when he spoke to me. He said, man, life is hard.

We know that. I think it's I think it's garbage when you could help somebody out just a little bit. You don't got to give him a handout, but you can help somebody. So life is a little less hard. That ain't too difficult.

It's not not at all. 855-212-4CBS. My is here from Maryland. Hey, JR. I'm ready to see the movie. And I wanted to make sure that everybody out there across America, don't forget that a certain phone company gave away $5 movie tickets to See Creed. So get the ticket, make sure you go see and support this movie, because I think it's a good thing that he's doing, you know, before the only person in movies and film and stuff, TV. Every time anything came down the pike in terms of dealing with the deaf community and everything was the actress Marlee Matlin.

So it's good that he's bringing that up again, because that's a segment that they they take a lot of abuse. My aunt's sister in law. She was born hearing, but now she can't hear and everything and stuff. And, you know, the state of Maryland, the NBA wanted to fight with her about giving her a disability plate because people was getting jumped at the mall.

She's deaf. But anyhow, I digress. I digress. But it's going to be a good movie. It really is. And I'm glad that they're doing it.

And I'm glad that he decided to take this franchise in that direction. But on another note, and I can't believe Lightning is getting ready to come down out the sky. You better be careful. Why?

I can't believe that I'm sitting here talking to somebody and defending Rashad Bateman because I met Bateman. And let's say we had a little trouble, but I don't know. I don't know. I don't know what that means. What does that mean? Shep, do you know what that means? I don't know what that means. Real quick, I'll tell you. It sounds like it's taking a long time here. Go ahead. Real quick. Your CBS affiliate here does a show called the Purple Playbook.

How is you playing for a team with purple on? Are you going to show up to do the show? He was filling in for Hollywood, who was sick. And you wearing silicones. Okay. So let me make a long story short. Did you call up and you called up and confronted him about that? Well, I mean, I said something to him and I clowned on the training clamp last year. But the point that I want to make is you give him halfway a break, because here's the thing with Eric D'Acosta. You. Well, that was Ozzie.

Let me let me get him half. This is long. You did. You keep drafting injured receivers all the way back to to Bouchard. Parry Hollywood was messed up. Bateman was.

Okay, I get your mind from Bateman and his family. Why they pulled him this past season and had him do to do the surgery because the Ravens had looked out for you. My foot was injured when you crashed, you know, Maya. So why didn't you take care of me?

I don't have nothing to do with it. You don't diss your boss. It's really that simple. But when your boss is when your legs is your livelihood and how you plan it on.

And that's how you want to make money to not take care of them. That's that's something serious there. And you. Oh, my God, Maya, Maya, hold on. I got to let you go. I'll answer you. Thank you, Maya, for calling from Maryland.

No, Maya. Yell at that man privately. Don't go on Twitter. What are we doing? That's that's that's immature. That's like there's a lot of here's a new word for you.

There's a lot of punk assness in that. You're going on Twitter complaining for. Come on. And I know we're not going backwards.

We're not. Send him an email. Call him.

Text him. Hey. Hey, GM. Hey, Eric, I don't appreciate what you said.

Send your agent out there. Why are you going on Twitter? Grow up. I got to go on Twitter and I got a vent. Oh, no, I'm getting yelled at. Now I got to delete it. Like, I don't care about the justification of the injury.

I don't care about the justification of the criticism. Everybody got a 17 year old is threatening me in my house and I got to punch him. Allegedly, that's John Moran for what? My GM dissed me.

I got to go on Twitter and diss him back. What are we doing? Is anybody an adult?

I'm I think I'm an adult, but barely. Come on now here for the hell of it. Let's listen to the general manager of the Baltimore Ravens, Eric DaCosta. Hey, Dan Campbell, by the way, thinks that this combine is almost a waste of time.

He called it a spectacle. The only good thing is interviewing and talking to the young men. But Eric DaCosta, he's great. He's taking it as an opportunity to crap on the guys that he drafted. Listen to this. If I had an answer, that means I would probably have some better receivers, I guess. We keep trying.

We've never really hit on that all pro type of guy, which is disappointing. But it's not for lack of effort. It's one of those anomalies that I really can't explain other than to say we're not going to stop trying. Oh, yeah. Rashawn Bateman went on Twitter and it's just like, oh, well, yeah.

Well, how about you look at the people that you hired running this thing blaming us for? And then he deleted it and apologized. Come on now. Not Stone Cold Steve Austin. You can't threaten and beat up your boss, Mr. McMahon.

You can't do that. He should actually be happy that there's some honesty there. How many people boss tell them the damn truth? How many people's manager goes around and says, you know what? You suck today.

I thought about firing you yesterday. Who does that? I think most people, most most people want transparency. Most people want honesty. Most people want to just be told the truth. Isn't that like a human thing?

Yeah. People lie. People are dishonest. I ain't running around telling the damn truth all the time. But come on now. You want to be you want to be you want to be told the truth.

You want it in front of you. Do better. Now, go on Twitter.

Complain. Bob is calling from Michigan. You're on CBS Sports Radio. What's up, Bob? What a great show tonight. You run the gamut from the heavy callers, you know, real deep to the interesting callers.

I'm an interesting type of guy. What can I say, Bob? You know, you got it. Hey, I went to the movies tonight and I see Creed starts tomorrow and I don't usually see sequels, but I'm going to see it. And I got to tell all your listeners in North America, everyone do themselves a favor and go see a movie called Cocaine Bear. Oh, my God.

It's made directed by the lovely Elizabeth Banks. And it's like made American made meats for the revenant. OK. They're throwing cocaine bags out of planes in the mountains of Tennessee. And you know what happens. Yeah. Bear ate the cocaine. I know.

Based off of a true story and and dramatized for film. Thank you. All right. Bye, everybody. Thank you. Cheers. Hey, shop, you gonna go see Cocaine Bear?

Not a chance. It's about a bit. Do you know what it's about? Do you want me to explain? I think it's pretty self-explanatory. I will see Creed three because of your ring and endorsement of it, though. Yeah, no, it's good, man. I liked it.

It could have I could have got another, you know, another hour of it. You know, it's interesting, Jair. So many guys because Michael B. Jordan is still a relatively young guy, especially in his field. There's really no missteps for his entire career. And he's worldwide at this point. Yeah, he is.

I'm interested to see what comes next. You know, there's Black Black Panther. He did Black Panther. And now he's he's here with Creed. He has he got years in front of him. Oh, he's and he's a really good comedy actor, too.

Is he? So he was in this movie with Miles Teller. So you so Top Gun obviously had three guys basically starring it. Tom Cruise, Jon Hamm, and then, of course, Miles Teller. So it's Zac Efron, Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan. That is a hell of a cast. When did that come out? This was in 2015. And Michael B. Jordan, I think, stole the show.

He's a he's a he's amazing. He was in he was in Hardball. Do you remember that movie? I don't remember Hardball. Gotcha. So with Keanu Reeves, he had a he had a huge debt.

And in order for him to kind of pay it back, he had to go around. What year was this? 2001. Oh, hell no.

OK, gotcha. So it's probably Keanu's one of maybe his best acting movie. Not is not his best commercial success, but his best acting movie is probably that movie. It was with Diane Lane and Michael B. Jordan was in that.

That's how I think I got introduced to it. Yeah, he was teenage. He was he played on the.

Yeah, he was like he was too old for the team, but he still played for the team initially. And then he got into a life that he wasn't. This is the movie, of course.

This is not in real life. The first thing I saw him. I saw him in The Wire. OK, that's after the fact. Yes. Yes. I saw him in The Wire.

Do you think is it wrong for me to say. That he is like maybe he's not there yet. He got a string, a couple together. Is he moving into a kind of slot in a rock out the way as being like the top guy in how. So that's that's making the assumption that the rock is the top guy in Hollywood. He's not thought the rock was making more money than everybody.

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. He made in terms of maybe overall. But there's one guy and you know the share who has single handedly saved cinema. It's not is it Tom Cruise. Tom Cruise is the biggest movie star in the world. Will Smith, I would say, is is I'd say he's bigger than the rock punch and all. Well, I'm talking about recently.

Yeah, recently. Well, I mean, he's met Smith. Will Smith. Yeah. Well, Smith's bigger than the rock. Absolutely.

I mean, I mean, you we talk about it all the time. The rock in the last movie, they were not exactly a success by any means. I'm thinking about how much money did you make in a given year? I swear a couple of years ago for the past few years, the rock was the highest paid actor in Hollywood. No, not a chance.

Not a chance. He may have been the highest paid in terms of like having credits because he's an executive producer and he doesn't say no to any acting job. But in terms of what an individual makes per movie. Well, Smith makes more per movie. Denzel makes more per movie. Samuel Jackson makes more per movie.

I'm looking at it right now in 2022. Dwayne The Rock Johnson was the world's highest paid actor. Right. But that's not but that's not per movie.

Who cares? The man woke up in 2023 and he made more money than any actor. What else will be thinking about? But he also does a lot more than than the top guys because they don't have to do as much. Oh, but he's addicted to money. Well, he's addicted to work, though, like Denzel is still bigger. Will Smith's bigger. Samuel Jackson's talking about who's more famous or more accomplished.

I'm talking about from a who is the guy, the guy right now. And maybe that movie put in Black Adam put on The Rock. Right. OK, so in 2001, highest paid actor in the world, The Rock. But with Mission Impossible and Top Gun, there's no way that anyone's not top pun intended aside from Tom Cruise this year.

There's no way anyone else comes. It comes in close. They're making another Top Gun. No, but I'm just saying from what he drew at the box office, because when it was released, because it took a while for it to be released, because it wasn't streamed on Netflix or Amazon Prime or Apple or anything like that. And then also with the next Mission Impossible, there's no way with those two movies, even if The Rock made 10 movies this year, he's coming close to the growth that Tom Cruise has has ultimately produced this year.

How about this? Will Smith and Michael B. Jordan are going to be together in I Am Legend 2. Wow.

I didn't know that. Will Smith and Michael B. Jordan team for I Am Legend sequel. So, boom. Yeah, Michael B. Jordan is on the up and up.

There we go. He definitely is. Listen, Will Smith is close to mid-50s at this point. Denzel's No Spring Chicken. Samuel Jackson's past 70.

Morgan's past 70. Yeah, Michael B. Jordan's on. Yeah, I'm trying to think if there's any other actor. Mark Wahlberg? No, it's him. No, there's no... Marky Mark?

What about Leo? Listen, it's Michael B. Jordan as long as he doesn't slap anybody. Well, we don't worry about that.

Yeah, we don't. He punches people in the movies. That's good. It's the JR Sport Brief Show on CBS Sports Radio 855212. Charles Barkley was doing a hammer dance right now on the TV. What is he doing? It's the JR Sport Brief Show on CBS Sports Radio and we got more sports stuff when we come back.

Don't move. On CBS Sports Radio. You are our inspiration. You paid a picture to us on Jackie Field and want to know what you're doing. What a great job you do, sir. Call in now at 855212 for CBS.

Oh, damn. Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. They combined for 82 points.

It's just... It's just two on five out there, huh? The Dallas Mavericks beat the 76ers 133 to 126. Luka had 42 points. Kyrie Irving had 40 points out there. Wow, that's a lot of offense. It ain't going to do the Dallas Mavericks no good in the playoffs, though.

Sorry. Just being honest. Who the Dallas Mavericks going to beat? They're going to advance maybe what? To the second round? We going to watch Luka and Kyrie play two on five?

That ain't doing nothing. It's exciting. It'll be fun to watch, but that ain't no championship ball. And then Kyrie Irving will leave at the end of the year and Luka will go, man, what am I doing? Spurs beat the Pacers 110 to 99. Only the Pacers fans and five Spurs fans watched that. Warriors just beat the Clippers 115 to 91.

Man, they better watch out. Kuminga's been putting up points. Steph Curry expected back over the next week.

Might do some damage there. The Wizards beat the Raptors 119 to 108. I can't believe Chris Staps Porzingis went through a game unscathed after coming back from his knee injury. And he played 36 minutes.

Wow. Good for him. Bradley Beal had a crap night.

15 points, 5 of 14 shooting. 855-2124 CBS. It's 855-2124 CBS. Amir is calling from San Diego.

What's up, Amir? You're on the JR Sport Brief Show. I've been trying to call for a minute.

I didn't know it took that long. Listen, I've been listening to you for like three years driving home. I love your show. You are so real. I'm going to say one thing, though. Klay Thompson stated that he is the next Reggie Miller. And if you look at the stats, out of all the stats, he averages more than Reggie Miller. Top three stats. I want to know what you think about that.

Plus, he's got four championships. So let me know. I appreciate you. I love listening to you. You're the realest. Thank you, Amir. I try. Thank you for calling from San Diego. I did hear that earlier in the week.

I heard it in passing and I just had to I had to shrug. That was on NBA TV. We have that, right? We do, JR. Yeah, let's let's take a listen.

I know. Hey, shout outs to Steve Smith. Steve Smith here in Atlanta.

What's up, Steve? He was on NBA TV. Klay Thompson was talking to him. And listen to Steve and listen to Klay's response.

Klay, I have a question that has nothing to do with on the floor. I've always said you're one of the most competitive guys I've seen in this era. Tell me where does that come from? And it seems like in year 12, you're still ramping up that competitiveness. You seem like you're going to another level.

Well, I appreciate that, Smitty. I think it comes from watching y'all play in the growing up a 90s baby and watching the 90s and 2000s. There are so many competitors, the greatest ever play this game with the biggest competitors. I mean, being the shooting guard, I am I idolize Kobe Bryant and he he was never one to make friends out on the floor. He just wanted to win at all costs. And my style resembles that of Reggie Miller. I call myself the modern day Reggie. And I mean, Reggie got in so many scraps. He got under so many people's skin. So I really love those two guys that the two guard spot and they they left it all out there, man.

And that's why I want to do when I look back on my career, say, man, I gave it everything I had and I competed at the highest level. I got no problem with Klay Thompson calling himself a modern day Reggie. If he's taking the approach, which I think he is, I have modeled my game after his. Reggie Miller would drive your ass crazy offensively.

Crazy. It was like going around screens and cutting through every hole and corner possible to get the ball, shoot it and then be a pain in the ass. Klay Thompson ain't out there dribbling the ball. And so I don't I don't think he called himself. I'm a I'm the next Reggie Miller. That's not what he said.

He pretty much said, I'm the modern day. And if I were to choose a player, I would choose Reggie Miller. Reggie Miller was the best player on his team. He was one of the best shooters at the time. He was taking more threes than just about anybody in the league throughout the 90s. You did not want to see that man in crunch time.

And the league was at a slower pace than it is today. Klay Thompson could just shoot and shoot and shoot some more. I mean, Klay Thompson has an NBA record 14 threes in a damn game. I don't think Reggie took that many attempts in his career in one game. Come on. That's that's nuts.

Maybe he did. That's that's crazy. And so we know the scoring output is bananas. 60 point game, 70 point games. It's just lighted up town right now. When Reggie played, man, you get an elbow from one of the Davises.

That's that's dangerous out there. They slow the game down. And then Reggie lit it up. He was a pain in the ass to watch. Shout outs to Reggie Miller as well. You want to talk about Reggie Miller moving around? I was here. I was here in Atlanta. I was at the park here in Atlanta. I saw Reggie Miller running through the park.

Just in the middle of the day, minding his business, shooting around or not shooting around, running around. Reggie Miller is almost 60 years old, which is even crazy to think about Reggie Miller being in his 50s. Reggie Miller was running the track and running the track. How did I know? Because I was also running the track. And I'm saying to myself, well, damn, bruh, stop running.

You ain't tired of this? Done ran your whole damn life and drove everybody crazy and done hit all these shots and lit everybody up. And you still out here running?

I get it. Congratulations running for your health. But man, I've seen enough of Reggie running in my life. I was like, I need to trip Reggie Miller.

I never trip him, though, but I was like, damn. He tormented everybody. So, Klay Thompson ain't mean nothing crazy by that. Klay Thompson is just he modeled his game after him. God bless him. He played Klay Thompson plays defense.

But if I wanted a shooting guard, Reggie Miller, Klay Thompson, I'm taking Reggie Miller. That dude was. He was a killer. He was an assassin. He was annoying. He was a pain in the ass. He was torturous.

You wanted to beat the snot out of him. You damn good basketball player. One of the greats. It's the JR Sportbrief show here on CBS Sports Radio eight five five two one two four CBS.

That's eight five five two one two four CBS. You know, before we roll out, I'm going to give one guy his just do. His name is Damian Lillard. Now, he he's also one of the best shooters you'll ever see in your life.

And he doesn't get the love. I'm going to get some more your calls before we roll out. You're listening to the JR Sportbrief on CBS Sports Radio. You're listening to the JR Sportbrief on CBS Sports Radio. I've been listening to you for like three years driving home. I love your show. You are so real. Call in now at eight five five two one two four CBS.

Yes, the JR Sportbrief show on CBS Sports Radio. It's just me. I'm just an ordinary guy out here doing ordinary guy things. Thinking about. Never mind. Eight five five two one two four CBS. That's eight five five two one two four CBS. It's been a busy night. It's been a busy show. We had an opportunity to share with you a conversation I had with Michael B. Jordan surrounding his new movie that's out Creed three.

Go ahead and see that. We talked about the NFL combine. We talked some basketball. Damn it.

Damian Lillard. Shep, should we just do a whole segment on him tomorrow? What?

I would love that in full disclosure, JR. And I'm sorry to say this. I know you didn't ask me to say this, but I will. Anyway, you have been wanting to give Nicola Jokic and Damian Lillard a segment, but you put so much is happening that you keep having to bump them.

It's ironic because the whole premise of it is basically they don't get nearly the respect and reverence that they deserve. Yes. Well, how about this?

If I can make it tomorrow. The Portland Trailblazers are actually here in Atlanta. Wow.

I'm going to stop by the game and just check it out for a little while before I come to the studio for the show. We get in. We get.

So we go from Michael B. Jordan to potentially Dame time on back to back nights. Is that what you're saying? It's okay. Gotcha. Gotcha. I didn't say that because I don't. I think people might know this by now. Like, I don't. I don't. I don't want to go into the lot.

I don't want to talk to these dudes at work. Yeah. You and Steven. Yeah. You guys are both the same.

He always says that, too. No, I don't. Like, I don't.

I don't want to talk to. They go on to work. I'll talk to them after.

But then after is I will be here. Yeah. That's a tough.

That's a tough one. You're right. You know, that man going to be shooting around, minding his business.

I want to watch him play. And I know, unless Quinn Snyder fixed the Atlanta Hawks in two days, Damian Lillard is likely going to like that ass up. Yeah. Yeah. He's going off. And he's pissed right now because they're not.

They lost two games that were very winnable. Yeah. Yeah. He was.

He wasn't looking happy. No. Well, he going to be here tomorrow. I'm going to say Damian Lillard tomorrow night or Friday night here in Atlanta. He will drop more than.

Give me a number, Shep. 27, 30, 30, right? Well, Jared, I mean, he's averaging over 30, so he better he better drop over 30 against the Trae Young led Hawks team. Come on.

I would say I would say 45 and he's, you know, 45. Well, he's he didn't play. It's not going to be back to back. Obviously, Quinn Snyder is not Nathan McMillan defensively.

And you know how they were pretty, you know, interpret defensively with Nathan McMillan. So they stay down. They stay right down a block from from the studio here. OK. Either he's either sleep in bed right now. Right.

Or, you know, there's a lot of activities here. All right. You want to talk about an individual that's anything but a coach killer. I think Trae Young should be talking to Damian Lillard a little bit about how to conduct himself tomorrow.

That'd be good. I know you like Trae. I know he gets some good press, too. He's he's not a bad guy. But I think this has not been a good look for him.

Having two respectable head coaches get fired, especially Nathan McMillan. Yeah. Yeah.

It's a it's a pile on game right now. Right. Yeah.

I think there's some improvements that could be made. He called one of our hosts here. Called him. Can I say it on the right. I could say it on the radio. Right. You could say it.

I trust you 100 percent. He called him a hoe. Now, what do you can't do that? You can. Why? Why are people so offended? Does everything need a response?

You got to call people. I don't know. That's just me. I just mind my business and stay out the way. I'm like it and more important things for me to worry about. Somebody could be like, hey, J.R., you suck. And I'd be like, like, so what? Good.

I've heard worse. Who cares? Who cares?

Everybody's so offended. You don't get you don't get that often, though. No, I don't.

You don't. Yeah, I don't. Most people who get angry at me are mostly racist. Just calling out. It's just being honest.

Seriously? Yeah. To this to this day, you get I mean, I mean, I mean, one one racist comment is one too many. I get all that.

But are you telling me that in 2023 and this may be a white person being naive. So I acknowledge that. Is there still habitual racism? I wouldn't say habitual as what?

What do you mean habitual? No, I mean, where you're going out in public and in the way. OK, well, not in public. Let me do this.

Let me do that. But, you know, there's there's still instances where where people can be uncomfortable and in a presence. Yeah, that's accurate.

Yes. Clearly haven't been around you then. If they're uncomfortable in your presence, you you're one of the most easy people to be around. Well, I don't I don't run around saying, hey, I'm J.R. and this and that. I don't do that. But that it happens. It exists.

I am a black man running around relatively young, young looking with an afro. I mean, what am I supposed to do? Not everybody feels that way. But I mean, that's the world that we live in. People judge other folks. I mean, that's not a it's not a shock.

You can look at the news and figure that part out. Not the nicest thing. But here I am. Anyway, eight five five two one two four CBS. It's eight five five two one two four CBS. Owen is calling from here in Atlanta.

How about that? Owen, you're on CBS Sports Radio, the JR Sport Brief Show. What's up, Owen? What's up, JR? I mean, you were supposed to talk at the house, Gary.

You supposed to come up at one thirteen. Sit down and rap with me. I want to rap with you. Are you going to be at the game tomorrow?

I sure will. You come on up there and rap with my life. What section is it again? I'm one thirteen. I'm still right up there before you come down into the steps at the black tables up there with with the chairs. That's I'm on the hall side.

OK. One thirteen. You're behind the Hawks bench. Yeah. I promise you.

I will see you tomorrow before the game. I promise. OK. I had two questions for you. Yes. My diversity.

I'm a teacher. Let's let's ask this question. And diversity is being in sports now. Suppose that all of the African-Americans quit going to the bigger schools and start going to the historical black colleges. What do you think we will have? Oh, we'd have a turnaround financially. We've seen a little bit of that over the past several years, but not a lot.

What else you got? Oh, and just in the interest of time, the second thing that I want to ask you, how did you look at the comments that Dion made about the defense? I thought it was we talked about that a couple of nights ago, and I found his comments to be very, very right. I did, too.

And that, you know, as a call. Well, thank you. I appreciate you. I'll see you tomorrow at the game, OK? OK, we'll talk. OK, thank you.

I would appreciate you. You know, as a chef, as you just asked, that is what and typically I don't see these comments because, like, I'm not looking or hunting. And most times, as you said, I get I get positive responses. You know, we talked about the Dion comments the other night. And what did I say? We were talking about the combine. And this shows you and I know by having conversations and taking calls, a lot of times people don't listen or they hear what they want to hear. I referenced Troy Vincent saying out of his own mouth that the combine was akin to the slave trade. I received messages from people telling me, you compare the combine to a slave trade, you're nothing but a race beta on a radio.

People hear what they want to hear. So I think that's there's an example for you. That makes sense. It does.

It does make sense. And I and I appreciate you having those those conversations and those positions and then defending it in a way that's not supposed to be something that is, you know, divisive but more cathartic. So I appreciate you for that in all seriousness.

Yeah. Well, listen, man, it's I enjoy life. I have a good one. I want people to have a good life. And anybody who want to go ahead and have a problem with me. Go ahead.

Knock yourself out. I'm not here to change everybody's mind or change the world. I'm here to have a good time. And if I can say something that opens up your brain, then good. I try to live my life where I learn something different every day along the way, open up my brain and try to be open minded and considerate and have different experiences.

I think that's the best way to learn anything. Mike is calling from Maryland. What's up, Mike?

Two things, because you always bring up good topics. I used to watch Reggie Miller at night when he was playing for UCLA before he was known. Yes. I used to say, man, this guy could shoot. Yeah.

And he's a pain in the ass. What else you got, Mike? Quickly. Okay. Boxing.

Tank Davis. Right. He's fighting Ryan Garcia. Oh, he gonna slaughter him. Right. Now, if I'm his trainer, I'd be watching this guy, keeping him out of trouble. He can't get in trouble no more. If he's, you know, the guy is such a good boxer and he's got power.

So when he gets by Garcia, then he has to fight Devin Hankey. All right. Easy. Well, I would agree with you. Easier said than done as it relates to behavior. There's always, unfortunately, issues that that surround him.

But he I think when it comes to Ryan Garcia, he gonna beat the snot out that dude. Thank you, Mike. Appreciate you for calling from Maryland. Hey, listen, folks, go see Creed three. Thank you to Michael B Jordan for joining us. He beat the snot out. Well, go see the movie. They all beat the snot out each other. It's it's a boxing film.

He got his ass whooped in that movie, too. Anyway, it's a great one. We're going to be back with you tomorrow. Ten p.m. Eastern Time, seven p.m. Pacific. If you miss me while I'm gone. Hey, you can find me at State Farm Arena. I'm going to watch Damian Lillard and and the Hawks tomorrow night before I come on air. You can also follow me at JR Sport Brief on social media. Chef, where are you at?

At the Good Shepherd Underscore JR. That's good. And who's coming up next on CBS Sports Radio? Dave Smith. Dave Smith. Check out Dave Smith because I said so.

It's the JR Sport Brief show on CBS Sports Radio. It's a wrap. You'll have a good night. Be safe. Be smooth.
