Oh there the ghetto boys, I love the ghetto boys. Anyway, the next 3 hours. Being joined by super producer and host Dave Shepherd and you. Everybody listening all over North America. Whether you happen to be in Minnesota a Vikings fan, of which we just had a Vikings fan tell me that he is having a cigarette, Pepsi, tea and coffee all mixed together. Or whether you happen to be, I don't know, in Miami.

Or California or New York. We had another caller talk about the New York Knicks and I'm like yeah they've won 8 straight games. So, you got to give them credit for winning 8 straight games but what am I going to do now? Put the New York Knicks into the NBA Finals? What are we doing here? Knicks are boring.

I'm sorry. I'm just being honest here. The New York Knicks just watching them. If you give me a choice I'm like why? To watch Julius Randle?

What's exciting about him? Nothing. I'd rather go to the supermarket and stand in line for days. I'd rather, what is that thing where they deliver the groceries now to your house? I hate that thing too.

It's a no win situation. Instacart. I'd rather buy one thing from Instacart and pay $50 and them dropping it off.

Delivery fees. I'd rather do all of that than watch the New York Knicks. Sorry. Congratulations. 8 straight games. They go to the playoffs, they're doing what?

Getting brutalized by somebody. My apologies. 8 5 5 2 1 2 4 CBS. That's 8 5 5 2 1 2 4 CBS. I'm going to get messages from people in New York for the next I don't know how many days.

The top of the year. So, if you're not familiar people by the way, not only do I broadcast here on CBS Sports Radio, I also broadcast in New York City on weekends, early afternoon on a Saturday on WFAN and so by the time I come back from holiday, I'm sure the New York Knicks will be on an 8 game losing streak and then I can tell everybody just to relax but anyway. 8 5 5 2 1 2 4 CBS. You can get a hold of me and if you're an angry Knicks fan, that is at JR Sport Brief.

All over the place and we have a busy show. I mean, just in the first hour of the show so far, we've talked about the Phoenix Suns, the new owner, Matt Ishbir. He's a mortgage lender. He's trying to become bigger than Quicken Loans. This man is worth 5 billion dollars. He just bought the Phoenix Suns for 4 billion dollars. You want to know what else he's done? He was a walk on for the Michigan State Spartans. He was on the championship team with Mateen Cleaves back in the year 2000. He played 3 seasons where he averaged 2 and a half minutes a game and half a point over 3 years and now he's worth 5 billion dollars so y'all better leave them bench warmers alone.

They out here making bread. He's the 505th richest person in the world. Doesn't hurt too much, does it, to be the 505th richest person in the world. Anyway, we got a lot of callers here. This is a popular show. We got a lot of people with a lot of things to say.

We got tons of people listening all over the country and as we continue on with the show, I'm going to get to the phone lines in a second. I want to talk to you about Jerry Jones because he feels obligated every week to talk about Odell Beckham Jr. It's like, just shut up about the guy. Jalen Hurts gave us an update on his playing status. Matthew Stafford let everybody know that he's not about to quit. Aaron Rodgers still thinks that there's a chance that they make the playoffs.

It's true, they can. And Donovan Mitchell made it extremely clear that he is happy to no longer be playing in Utah. Good for him. He's in Cleveland now.

I'll let you make your own jokes. 855-212-4CBS-S. 855-212-4CBS. Sean is calling from Oregon.

You're on the JR Sport Brief, Sean. Hey JR, I'm right with you on the opinion on the Knicks. I think America wishes them the best but until they really do something, it's kind of like the Vikings. Look at the Vikings. They barely beat a Colts team and look how happy they get. If these guys ever do win a Super Bowl in my championship, they'll be going crazy. That whole division, that black and blue division is just all bad. There's only one team that's done anything good in my whole lifetime and the Bears only won one Super Bowl in my lifetime. You look at the NFC East, all those teams won a Super Bowl in my lifetime and the NFC West, all of them won except Arizona but at least we've seen them go to one. That Vikings, quit letting America take the pipes to you. A black and blue division and you'll get some respect. But they've been letting America and the NFL take the pipes to them for a long time. Okay, well thank you Sean for calling from Oregon. Damn, he's not only evoking what the Minnesota Vikings look like this season or past seasons, he's going into their unfortunate history of where's your Super Bowl?

Sorry. Yeah, the Vikings are one team. The Vikings fans deserve a championship.

I feel like the last time they legitimately got close, I'm not talking about a few seasons ago, I feel like the last time they legitimately had a chance was what, like 98? 98. 855-212-4CBS. Hugh is calling from Portland, Oregon. I was just in Portland. Where was Hugh? You're on CBS Sports Radio. Hi Jay, I called you that night and I welcomed you to Portland to see the beautiful Mt. Hood.

That was too far man, I saw it from downtown. Okay. Hey, I'll argue against that. Yes, it was the Randall Cunningham, Randy Moss 98 team and our field goal kicker missed the extra point. It was that Wharton Anderson, right?

Exactly. But as far as the referees go, and again, I was watching the Viking game, that was a ridiculous couple of calls there. Tyreek Hill did the same exact play for Miami a week before picking up the fumble and they went ahead and could not figure out the play on the same thing with the Viking Indianapolis game and another punt return that was close to that. But anyway, I think some love has to go to Kirk Cousins this year anyway. He can't help if he's playing out here in West Coast time, 10 o'clock games versus East Coast, 5 o'clock games, 4 o'clock games, whatever it might be. But anyway, everyone's giving love to the Drake Lions and they're playing in the same time zone.

Where have they won in prime time this year? You're comparing the attention the Lions are getting to the Vikings? Yes.

Why not? You've got the guy that's biting kneecaps and everything like that. Oh yeah, he's fun.

Yeah, he's great. Hey Shep, hold on Shep, let's cue that up. At any point that we could ever play the clip about Dan Campbell biting people's kneecaps, we're going to do it. But thank you for bringing that up.

We'll play that in a little bit. But go ahead, Hugh, continue. No, I've got nothing else to say. But like I said, they've won 11 games this year and so far Kirk has been great in the fourth quarter, bringing them back. And I'm not saying that's going to change the difference from the last six or seven years.

But he needs to get a little bit of credit this year, I think. Well, I agree with you, Hugh. Let me ask you this. And if you don't want to answer, this is perfectly fine. Do you have siblings? Yes, I do. Okay, so you understand that. Do you have kids? Yes.

Okay, so I want you to pay close attention to the description I'm about to give you. Let's take a look at the NFC North as if it were just a bunch of kids like these are kids, right? They're all siblings. Sure. Got bears and lions and I want to say tigers and oh my, but you have the you have the Packers and you have the Vikings. Okay.

Okay. If we have to think about them as kids, if even if we look at the past, the past 10 years, we know the Packers have been the oldest sibling, right? The Green Bay Packers have been the oldest sibling. They bully everybody else.

And you pretty much get left with all of the scraps. That's that's the Green Bay Packers. You would agree with that, right?

I would. Okay, so let's let's keep on going down the list here. And so you got the the Green Bay Packers who beat up on everybody and then take the scraps. And then I would say the next older sibling would probably be the Minnesota Vikings. They have an inferiority complex. They look at the big brother, they look at the older sibling Green Bay and they go, why can't we be good like them? Like we're good and then we're bad and we're good and we're bad. And then there's some jealousy there.

Sure. And then next up on the totem pole, you have Chicago. Like they're extremely good at one thing, but they can never get the other thing together. That's offense. And so the Chicago Bears are like your typical C student. You have no idea what they're going to do.

They can do they can do great in art class, but they can't read or write. Boom. There are your Chicago Bears. And then you have the Detroit Lions, the Detroit Lions. Nothing is ever expected from them. They got left back every single year. When they get one positive grade, they get a pat on the back and get told they're doing a good job. And so when you ask why the Minnesota Vikings aren't garnering as much attention or getting as much praise as the Detroit Lions right now, it's because the Detroit Lions are typically the kid in class eating glue and they just got a good grade. And you have to congratulate them.

It's really that simple. No, I agree with that. But as far as the Packers, I mean, when that when that older sibling gets older, he doesn't care anymore. He's got married and that's Aaron Rodgers.

He's going on to yoga and some other things. And the Iowa scoops up. Yeah, sure.

But for the for the other two siblings, they the their lot in life doesn't change. Thank you, Hugh, for calling from Portland. The Lions did something good. You got to give him a pat on the back.

Minnesota Vikings is loud. Here you are. You're good again. OK, fine. But you never get over the hump. Let me know when you actually graduate. The lines you got to give him a good slap. Attaboy.

Good job. Speaking of the Lions, if you wanted to understand what I was saying about the Lions, they're the kid in the class eating glue. The Detroit Lions are the kid that just did D student. They're an F student. They always get left back.

It's pretty appropriate when you listen to Dan Campbell, their head coach. Listen to this guy. Here's what I know. Just as an overall philosophy, you're going to say, well, what's this team going to be?

What's it not going to be? Here's what I know. All right.

I know that Detroit's made up a great people, some really good people. All right. This community is strong. This place has been kicked. It's been battered.

It's been bruised. And I can sit up here and give you coach speak all day long. I can give. Here's what I do know is that this team is going to take on the idea of the city. All right. And the city's been been down and it found a way to get up. All right.

It's found a way to overcome adversity. All right. And so this team is going to be built on. We're going to kick you in the teeth. All right.

And when you punch his back, we're going to smile at you. And when you knock us down, we're going to get up. And on the way up, we're going to buy the kneecap off. All right. And we're going to stand up and then it's going to take two more shots to knock us down.

All right. And on the way up, we're going to take your other kneecap and we're going to get up and then it's going to take three shots to get us down. And when we do, we're going to take another hunk out of you before, before long. Where are they going to be the last one standing?

Oh, nice. They're your Detroit lines, the team that would be in the back of the classroom eating glue. Now they got a seven and seven record. They might make the playoffs and their head coach is absolutely nuts and I love it.

It's entertaining as all hell. Congratulations to the Detroit lines. I hope they make the playoffs and I hope they officially knock Aaron Rodgers out of the playoffs.

Dream scenario for me. 8 5 5 2 1 2 4 CBS. Speaking of eating glue, we're going to hear from an NFL owner that has probably eaten his share of glue. His name is Jerry Jones. It's the JR sport reef show, CBS sports radio. You're listening to the JR sport brief on CBS sports radio.

You're listening to the JR sport brief on CBS sports radio. When you put me on a lot of times you, you, you, you blend the, the, the, the commonalities of sports and business and drive together. So, uh, so first of all, you know, thank you for what you do.

You, you have the ultimate drive. A lot of people know you and a lot of people don't know you and they will. Here's JR. Oh, well, thanks. Damon John from, from shark tank. Speaking of money, Jerry Jones got a lot of money. Not only does Jerry Jones have a lot of money, he's like a cartoon character. Pops up on the radio once a week on one Oh five three, the fan down in Dallas was up to everybody out in the Metroplex.

And he, uh, he says crazy things. We know the Dallas Cowboys, they just lost the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. It took overtime. It took the tip Dak Prescott interception to get ran back for them to lose. And even before that, the Dallas Cowboys, they've been looking kind of iffy there.

What the hell you have in shootouts with the Texans for, what were we going back and forth for? And so their four game winning streak is over. And even though they lost, they did secure a playoff spot with Washington losing to the New York giants and maybe Dallas can learn to hold onto a lead. When the Dallas Cowboys actually get to the playoffs, I'm hoping we get a different result than that beat down that they received at the hands of the 49ers earlier this year.

And so next up, we talked about this already. They're going to take on the Philadelphia Eagles, who unfortunately have a quarterback in jail and hurts who is currently hurt with a busted up shoulder. And so for whatever reason, Jerry Jones that was brought up into conversation once again about Odell Beckham Jr. Have a we all come to the conclusion that we won't see this guy this year? Haven't we come to the conclusion that he's he's not going to play? He's going to have to wait until next season to get a chance and an opportunity like we're running out of time. What are we going to do? Talk about a team signing Odell like the week before the Super Bowl? Like let's let's chill out a little bit.

And so Jerry Jones in the most I thought I saw a pussycat type of way. He was on one of five three the fan and he talked about the chances of signing Odell going down the toilet. I don't have an assessment of that. But as of this morning, we don't have anything but I don't have an assessment. The reality is though that we're time is moving on down the road relative to being relative to playing in the playoffs.

And so the every day diminishes our chances of getting going forward. Oh this morning. He sounded much more lucid. Maybe he had that same combination our caller did for Minnesota coffee tea and shop.

I don't want to mistake him. Was it Diet Coke or was it Diet Pepsi? Which one was it? I think Diet Pepsi. You think that does it matter if it's Diet Pepsi?

It doesn't matter right? Diet Coke. Thank you Adam from Toronto. It was Diet Coke. Okay. Thank you Adam for Toronto Diet Coke and then we can't forget the cigarette that he had mixed in there.

Okay. Well Jerry Jones isn't too much better. I think we can all recall watching Jerry Jones on HBO's Hard Knocks pouring additional salt onto an Egg McMuffin.

That's probably that's probably a year's worth of your daily intake of salt or you're you're supposed to have that over a year and he had it in a day. Anyway, Jerry Jones is just waiting to get into the playoffs to see what his Cowboys do. And then I told you about Jalen Hurts. He has hurt. Sprained shoulder. They barely got by the Bears this past Sunday 25 to 20. The game was closer than it should have been if you ask me and Jalen Hurts. He got smashed in the third quarter was down on the field for a little bit and it came out that he may not play well Jalen Hurts. He actually spoke to the media and he said listen star quarterback of the Eagles these things get out but don't count me out just yet against these Cowboys. Listen to Jalen Hurts definitely change taking a day by day though, you know, I everybody knows that I'm dealing with something.

I think that's pretty public is out there. I'm not one to really talk about myself, you know, obviously being quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles. You you can't run from that, you know, but I'm taking everything one day at a time with it and preparing versus really good defense going. We're going to talk about the defense today. Make sure we don't miss that a really good team. No, we know what they're capable of on both sides of the ball.

We know the challenges that they present. So we want to be ready for a good game execution and then being ready to tackle look for all the conversations that were had on podcast. You might recall Michael Parsons was on Von Miller's podcast and he was asked about Jalen Hurts and and his contributions to the team and whether or not he was deserving of the MVP award and he pretty much said man, it's the whole team and then he tried to come out afterwards and clarify what he meant that yeah, I'm giving credit to him, but I'm being honest.

It is the whole team and it's like well, that's not too much of a clarification. And so when you get a grudge match like this and typically anytime you got two squads going at each other in the NFC East it's going to be a big-time matchup and for a Saturday Christmas Eve game. I hope Jalen Hurts can play and if we don't see Jalen Hurts will see Gartner Minshew which should be entertaining in and of itself because Gartner Minshew is almost like a made-up character.

He no longer has the mustache. He has a full beard but I'd sign up to see that maybe Gartner Minshew can lead the way against the Dallas Cowboys or maybe Michael Parsons will make his life a living hell. You know Jalen Hurts wants to play in that game, especially with all the chatting that's been done by the Dallas Cowboys. Let's see if it takes place. Let's see if it happens 8 5 5 2 1 2 4 CBS.

That's 8 5 5 2 1 2 4 CBS James. He's calling from Los Angeles. You're on the JR sport brief show. What's up?

They are a happy holidays to you and shit, you know, I don't have to talk to you guys later on. I was going to talk about my rating but you guys shifted my attention to Jeannie bus. So if I can I'd like to elaborate on that more. She's been the owner of the Lakers for what three years and she's already got a title now. I know they say a it was in the bubble. I know they raised their hand at the end of the at the end of the season.

I know they got a championship trophy for and they got rings. So, you know, there's no asterisk next to you can say it's in the bubble the shortened season, but you got to think the Clippers the Knicks Phoenix Utah, they would kill to do what she did in the three years that she did it and they've been waiting all this time just to try to you know, at least be relevant be relevant rather relevant. That's what I meant. Yeah, sure.

But what is that? Oh, so go ahead. I'm trying to understand what that has to do with what we were saying.

No, no, no, no. I mean you I mean chef had said that the Lechner fans are spoiled that we don't appreciate her. Hey, we appreciate her a lot. I mean I do I know I do and I know most of my friends do you know, they weren't really, you know, I know a lot of people would not understand her and Polica need to go but I know they got that ring three years ago. Yeah, we know that and I know my point is Utah and the Knicks and everybody else would kill to do that. Yeah.

Yeah. Yeah, we know that who wouldn't want to win a championship but I would I would agree with Shep like there's it's no different than than Yankee fans and maybe you know, I'll leave it to the Yankees and the Lakers. There's a segment of the fan base that is spoiled and it doesn't matter what has taken place last year two years three years four years 10 years ago 15 years ago. We can look at 20 years of history for both franchises. There's still a segment of the fan base.

That's just spoiled brats. Yeah, we got well, I know for the being a liquor fan all my life, you know, we're used to winning. I mean, I started watching when Magic was coming up and haven't stopped since even when that man in Chicago that went on his care and then we didn't really win anything those two years. I still remain, you know, yeah, it's a 10-year break like oh my god, this this teams that don't want a 40-year break. So I understand what you're saying but there's there's other teams and there's there's still fans who get real loud about complaining about not winning like it's a birthright every single year. Hey Shep, I'm gonna allow you to go ahead and respond to what James just said.

Go ahead Shep. Well, I mean in terms of James I was I was just talking about the call but I what I heard James say was basically the the bus factor of she is appreciated yet. They still want bus and Palenka out of town, right? Right James my position is this there's a lot of people that feel like Jerry Buss was the greatest owner in the history of team sports and he was and then Jim came along and almost tore it to the ground. Jeannie kind of saved the ship but I will also say that Jeannie has been such a such a steadfast steadfast force in this franchise. It's the likes of Linda Rambis. It's the likes of Palenka that to me have really brought this franchise down and I believe her decision-making has ultimately been the detriment of this franchise particularly allowing LeBron James basically to have his you know, quote-unquote boys run this franchise to now with all that being said they made a colossal mistake when they decided to get rid.

I'm not saying anything. You don't know James when they when they shipped Kyle Kuzmao to Washington and they got rid of KCP and they decided to go with age and numbers over productivity and chemistry. That is what led this Lakers to a point of no return. And as long as they have LeBron and AD they're going to a path of nowhere succeed at best where they will get knocked out again the way they did in the Phoenix Suns 4-2 back in 2021. But Jeannie Buss is not the problem.

It's the reins and the power and autonomy she gave to individuals that has led this franchise to its demise. Too late. Well, I mean, you know, all we can do is hey, we got the ring. We traded all those people for Anthony Davis. We got the ring that year. Now we have to suffer the consequences court for at least another another couple years.

Yeah, that's my point. Let's see how long the suffering lasts. Thank you James for calling from LA. Listen, man. If I'm a Lakers fan, I'm fine. Like I personally I like the Yankees me. I personally like the Yankees man. If the Yankees I'd love if they won a championship every damn year. If the Yankees never won another ring in my life, I'll be like God, I'm good. You like I'm fine, man.

I saw a stretch that I've never seen before. If I were a fan of the New England Patriots here, you want your team to win every year. You want them to move to a space of being good. But if you've been a Patriots fan and you can actually remember the last 20 years and damn it if you can remember the past, you know, let's tack on 15 and 20 years before that when they were absolute trash. I'd be cool with the past 20.

I'm never going to get that in my life again. If I get another championship. Oh, yeah, sure. I'll be fine with it. Man, some some fan bases are just it just spoiled brats 8 5 5 2 1 2 4 CBS.

That's 8 5 5 2 1 2 4 CBS. We talked about a lot. We talked about the Cowboys. We talked about the Eagles. We talked about the Sun sale. You talked about. Damn it. We didn't talk about this. We'll get there.

Matthew Stafford said he's not going to quit. I want to talk to you about the parade out in Argentina. I mean messy.

He had a million people outside his house. It's crazy. I think it's time to move. We're going to get into a whole lot the rest of the show.

I'm going to pick the phone lines up on the other side. You're listening to the JR sport brief on CBS Sports Radio. It's the JR sport brief show here with you on CBS Sports Radio.

Oh my goodness, man. We talked about how spoiled Laker fans are. We had a caller hit me about the Knicks and I said the Knicks are just here. They want eight straight games. They're not all that interesting to me.

They're still boring. They don't necessarily have a star there the little engine that could Nate they have more more work to do in front of them. We talked about the Dallas Cowboys and you know, the words of Jerry Jones reminding everybody once again time is running out to add Odell unlikely to happen. You just heard from jail and hurts and then when we get to the top of the hour, I want to talk to you about Matthew Stafford because we witnessed Baker Mayfield get beat up yesterday against the Green Bay Packers. He was sacked five times. He was hit another nine times. He was forced into an interception. It was just a bad game and we got Baker Mayfield in the first place because Matthew Stafford right now is a is a broken human being. Well. What the hell is he going to come back and play for?

He has a bruised spinal cord. He answered that question. I'm going to share with you at the top of the hour. We have quite a few people on the phone lines right now. Let's get to them eight five five two one two four CBS. We got Gary. He's calling up from Boise.

You're on CBS Sports Radio. What's up, Gary? Hey, Jr. I'll have a Heineken and a shot of fireball instead of coffee tea and Diet Pepsi.

Yeah, you'll be up for the next five hours, but I think that's a better selection in that other guy hat. Hey, Jr. In your humble honest opinion to the New York Jets. Do you are they going to make the playoffs finally this year?

I don't think so. I think that I think that ship sailed pretty much this past Sunday when they lost to the Lions. It was a close one that looked like they were going to hold on. But I think at this point that the New York Jets will unfortunately miss the boat. Okay, because their last game is against the Dolphins and that could be who gets in the playoffs.

Yeah, but I'm not I don't have all that much confidence and and what they need to do between now and then. I'm not even thinking about that last game in Miami against the Dolphins. It's not easy. So they have to take on this Thursday a Jacksonville Jaguars team with a Trevor Lawrence who looks like he's actually starting to live up to being the number one overall pick that game is not going to be easy. You then have to go all the way out to Seattle to take on the Seahawks not going to be an easy game and then they have to go down to Miami to conclude the season and take on the Dolphins. That's not going to be easy.

I get it. The New York Jets have one of the best defenses in the NFL. Unfortunately, Quinnen Williams was not active this past Sunday against the Lions because of a calf injury, but they still got one of the best defenses.

It's just the offense and so I don't think the New York Jets are, you know, clear-cut winners over the the Jags the Seahawks or Dolphins there. They're gonna have to fight for it. Yeah, but if they get that guy if they get Mike White back who is a hell of a lot better than Jack Wilson, I think right and I used yeah. Yeah, then I think they may have a chance because let's say they win two out of their last three games. They still have a shot but they're you know, there's got to be a lot of things that got to happen to I guess look this is not going to be easy. They had to they have a shot. Yes, they have a shot you would assume that the New England Patriots would would have a better shot but the New York Jets have taken on the Patriots and unfortunately, they haven't walked away with a victory. Okay, and then so that that's that's a detriment to them. And then if you keep going on these other these other teams I mentioned not going to be easy.

So I'm being honest with you. I think their best chance of making a playoffs would have been beating the Lions and using that momentum to maybe beat the Jags but these last three games are not going to be easy. I wouldn't hold my breath. I wouldn't hold my breath on on on on Zach White coming back either man because or Mike White broken ribs.

It's it's tough to come by man. Yeah cover from okay JR you have a happy holidays you as well Gary. Thank you for calling from Boise. You know, I wish I could give better news for the New York Jets, but they're the New York Giants are in a better position. It was two weeks ago. I felt that the New York Jets were in a better position to make the playoffs and and I thought the Giants were looking kind of iffy there and now the New York Giants after their win against Washington, they look like their prime to get into the postseason. All they have to do is win one more game. The New York Jets are sitting even right now Zach Wilson has to prove it. Mike White was looking good until he broke his ribs fractured his ribs and they're running out of time. They're 500 and there's no guarantee that they're going to end the season at 500 either.

It's highly unlikely. Greg is calling from Michigan. You're on CBS Sports Radio. Hey JR. Mr. Positive real quick. Merry Christmas to you and super producer David Diamond Shepherd real quick also Viva Argentina Viva messy. I've got to ask you my friend has my LeBron the goat given up he sits out yesterday with a hurt ankle rest book doesn't play Anthony Davis has gone for a month as he given up this season even though he did great in the past couple games.

Is it just is he going through the motions? Please give me some good news and tell me the most dynamic basketball player of all time is still interested in winning his fifth world title. Wow. Okay.

Well, thank you Greg for calling from Michigan. I don't know if I'd call him the most dynamic basketball player of all time. He's up there. What is LeBron playing for this year? Not a championship. LeBron James knows that it's a damn shame that Anthony Davis is hurt again. And we don't know the severity of his injury. Like what did what did Anthony Davis do? He jumped in the air and his his foot hit Jokic his calf.

And now it's probably broken. That's what I'm going to assume. Oh, he's going to be out a couple of weeks. Oh, Anthony Davis is going to be out a month or Anthony Davis is going to be out a month and then he's going to be out indefinitely. Well, it's Anthony Davis. That means we'll probably won't see the guy for the rest of the year. And whether what are the Los Angeles Lakers supposed to do?

Trade for who? With what? And how? LeBron James didn't play the last game because it was the second night of a back to back.

And so you shouldn't expect that to happen. And in all honesty, it's going to be about a week from now when LeBron James is he's going to turn 39 years old. Like what what do we want from LeBron here? Oh, 38.

Excuse me. I'm already adding years on to LeBron. It's going to turn 38. What are the Lakers doing this year? Nothing. What are they winning without Anthony Davis? Nothing. Why should they bother to make a trade and who and what can they trade?

Nobody. LeBron James will pass Kareem. People will celebrate. LeBron will give just a normal thank you guys. This isn't this isn't what we wanted to do, but I appreciate it.

And I know the history of the game and this is important and da da da da da. And then the season will go on and LeBron is going to watch just like everybody else. There's nothing here, nothing to see.

I don't think that's LeBron quitting on the Lakers. What are they doing? Nothing.

Sanjay's calling from Corpus Christi. You're on CBS Sports Radio. Hey, Jr. How are you doing? I'm good.

What's up? So, you know, the Minnesota Vikings. Yes, they made an incredible comeback against the Colts, but I feel like it's kind of bad. Why are you even down that much in the first half against the Colts to?

Yeah. And like another thing, I feel you were talking about the Patriots. So at this point, I feel like I said it before, the only thing they used to post Tom Brady is beating up on the chance because I don't think the Jets have a strategy against the Patriots. I feel like the Patriots are just better than them in that scenario.

Well, if you look at the talent and thank you Sanjay for calling from Texas. If you look at the talent that's been on the Jets, just up and down the roster from management down. If you just look at the past, if you just look at the moment that Bill Belichick decided to resign as HC of the New York Jets and you look at what has taken place for the Patriots and you look at what has taken place for the New York Jets. I think you get your answer there.

I don't know what the hell the New England Patriots have to do with your original point about the Vikings, but Shep, do you know what his last point had to do with the Vikings? Do you have any clue? No.

Okay. Sanjay really just wanted to talk about the NFL themes. It was me that tried to narrow him down and said, let's talk about something specific Sanjay, but I love his enthusiasm and I don't buy that he's still 12 years old.

Enthusiasm? Sanjay, yeah. He said he's 12? He said he was 12 years old, I believe. He's the oldest only 12 year old I've ever heard in my life. He's 12? 12 or 14.

One of the two. There's a difference. At 14, you're in high school. Aren't you in high school at 14?

It depends on who it is. Some people are still in middle school at 14. No, but traditionally, 14, you're like a freshman in high school. Yeah. Summer in eighth grade, yes.

Did you see the Jeff Green dunk, by the way? No. Okay. Did you know? No. Okay. You're going to hear about it.

It was amazing. Uncle Jeff is trending right now. Uncle Jeff is trending right now?

Yes. Is this during this blowout of a game that I've probably stopped paying attention to? Yeah, I don't blame you for quitting on this game because- How old? Jeff Green has to be- Well, you age LeBron James. Yeah, Jeff Green is 36. But he's going to be 37 very soon. But he's been in the NBA since 2007 and he had open heart surgery more than a decade ago.

There's no reason he should still be playing. He's incredible. Oh my God. Yeah, I see his dunk.

He's incredible. Yeah, one handed. Yeah, yeah. He was with the Celtics when he had that open heart surgery, right?

Good memory. Yeah. Yeah, Celtics. Yeah, good for Jeff Green. Reminding everybody that he's still in the NBA.

Got that right. Yeah, we got a couple of those folks that are around. Rudy Gay?

Watch your mouth now. We had Rudy Gay on the show. End of last year, we had Rudy Gay on. We could bring Rudy Gay back. Well, listen, he's got plenty of time.

He's not getting it on the court. I'm sorry. I know that's a little harsh. I'm sorry. It's disrespectful.

It is. It is because he's- Now I'm going to get an email from Rudy Gay and his friends saying, hey, your guy is talking crap about Rudy Gay. I'm just saying it amazes me that Rudy... I love Rudy Gay, but how is he in the NBA? And you know where I'm going with this. I'm not even going to... You already know where I'm going with this. He is a vet.

Leave him alone. Carmelo's a vet too. How is Rudy in the NBA but Melo's not? Rudy doesn't garner as much attention away from the court.

It's simple. The Denver Nuggets are smacking up the Grizzlies right now, 84 to 71. Yeah, that's an ass whooping. It's the JR Sport Reshow here with you on CBS Sports Radio. Speaking of ass whoopings, we're going to talk about the Rams on the other side of the break. Matthew Stafford said, when I'm healthy, I ain't quitting. And what about Sean McVay?
