You're listening to the JR Sport Brief on CBS Sport Radio. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief on CBS Sport Radio. And we are coming to you live from the Rocket Mortgage Studios when you need cash out of your home in a simple way to get it.

Rocket, Rocket can. Happy Monday night to you. Happy Halloween to you. Yeah, to you, if you're dressed up, I hope you're not. I think we got a lot of adults listening. I don't know, unless you're having fun.

Well, look, do whatever makes you happy. I'm going to be hanging out here with you for the next three hours. We got Monday night football going on. As of this minute, Cleveland, they're beating up on Cincinnati, 32 to 13. About three minutes left in this game. And to be honest, this game cannot end any sooner. This game has been an ass whooping. The story for Cincinnati, life without Jamar Chase for Joe Burrow, it stinks. And for Cleveland, they're going to improve their record to three and five. And it's pretty much a waiting game until Deshaun Watson returns after his 11 game suspension. So a little bit of a waiting game here. If you want to holler at me, it's simple, 855-212-4CBS.

That's 855-212-4CBS. To start off the show, an hour ago, we talked about Aaron Rodgers and the Packers losing to the Bills last night. Talked about Roquan Smith being traded to Baltimore. The tear down in Chicago continues.

Or tear down, restocking, whatever you want to call it. We know Robert Quinn moved on to the Eagles last week and now Roquan gets traded to the Ravens. We also took a look at the NFC North and the possibility of the Green Bay Packers not making the playoffs. And so we've already had a busy hour. I get started 10 p.m. Eastern time, 7 p.m. Pacific.

You can always hit rewind on the free Odyssey app. Super producer and host Dave Shepherd is here with me and you. And obviously, as this Monday night football game comes to a close, we'll talk about it. The impact that this has on the Cincinnati Bengals, the impact that this game, this ultimate victory, that's gonna be on its way, what it means for Cleveland and we'll hear from the players. You'll hear some of the plays. We got you all covered. Cleveland winning a football game.

Good for them. Speaking of winning a game, we got more to get into tonight. Oh, besides Monday night football. Lakers won a game. First game of the season last night, Sunday night against the Denver Nuggets. First game of Darvin Hams career as a head coach. And then also, man, we gotta talk about Kyrie Irving, the man who's, I wanna say his mouth, his mouth, his Twitter fingers, just everything.

He just, he continues to tweet himself and talk himself into uproars. And it's just a wild situation. So we'll talk about Kyrie and momentarily we'll get into the Lakers. The XFL is actually coming back in February. Dwayne The Rock Johnson revealed some of the team names, et cetera, things from there. But let's start off on a bright note.

And I guess this is a, I don't know, rainbow, I don't know if rainbow's the right thing. But the Los Angeles Lakers, they gotta, they gotta twinkle, not of hope. But at least their fans can relish in a victory. As last night, they were able to beat the Nuggets in Los Angeles, 121 to 110. The Lakers who started off their season at 0 and 5, they now go to 1 and 5. And Russell Westbrook, after a game off, he came back and played off of the bench. 18 points, eight rebounds, eight assists off of the pie. This is the same Russell Westbrook who just a few weeks ago talked about having a hamstring issue because he came off of the bench in a preseason game.

Darvin Hams, his response was, man, you're a professional, learn how to be prepared in any circumstance. And so Russell Westbrook actually had not just a stat-filled game, he had a good one. Shooting the ball, which is not his forte, hasn't been. Six of 12 overall from the field.

He was two of four from downtown. LeBron James doing LeBron James things, 26 points, eight assists, six rebounds. Even Anthony Davis, he didn't play like a bomb. 23 points, 15 rebounds, and he did not exit the game on a stretcher, which you can consider to be a victory. So the Lakers, they picked up a W, they got themselves a win, and Darvin Hams, looking at Russell Westbrook coming off of the bench, he had some positive words for his guy.

My hats off to him once again, came off and showed the type of impact he can have in that reserve role and showing up our bench and not just coming in and trying to maintain anything, but coming in and taking it up a notch. Oh, it's nice, it's just one game. It's just one game. I still think they're gonna suck. I think everybody knows that they're gonna suck. But we can be positive for a night.

It can't all be doom and gloom. The Lakers are not gonna go windless or they weren't gonna go windless throughout the whole season. Russell Westbrook after the game, kind of changed his tune just a little bit. He says, I'll do whatever it takes to help us win. We had many conversations about sacrificing and understanding what that looks like for me. And like I've mentioned since day one, whatever is needed for me to be able to help the team win, you know, that's what I'll do. And I'll continue doing that as the season goes along. The season goes along. Russ Darvit told us that he can only imagine what it's been like for you basically up to this point since you came to LA. Having been through a season and a little bit so far, what did tonight feel like, especially those big moments where you guys are on a run and you're kind of relishing it with the crowd? You know, first and foremost, I'm super blessed and thankful and I give all my thanks to the men above for allowing me and giving me the strength to get through any obstacles that come my way. And that's for basketball.

I just try to use a gift that I'm given and spread it out as much as I can and make sure I have a fun and enjoy while doing it. Okay, he still doesn't want to be there. He can say whatever he wants, but is he gonna complain in the prize? Oh yeah, I've said this before. I'll do whatever it takes, but then when I come off the bench, I'll complain about it. Like, come on. The man above tactic doesn't sell you on that, huh, JR? No, I don't care about that. Got it, got it.

No, he can thank the man above for everything that he got. When it comes to actually playing ball, he don't want to be there and it's kind of crazy. Everybody knows this Lakers team is not good. They got Lonnie Walker, who the Spurs did not want. They got him out there in the starting lineup, man. His efficiency from game to game, even with the Spurs to now is just like, whoa, what are you doing? By the way, Monday Night Football, it's a wrap. We'll get into it soon.

The Browns, they beat the Bengals 32 to 13. But the expectations for the Lakers, what are they? No, not to suck, to make a trade.

And one of the wildest things actually happened, okay? How about Miles Turner? Between him and Buddy Heel, they have been rumored to be traded to the Los Angeles Lakers now for months, dating back into the off season. Miles Turner was on a Woosh, on a Woosh podcast. And he was asked about potentially the Laker rumors, et cetera, et cetera, and Miles Turner might as well have said, listen, man, I'm ready to be traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. This is what he had to say about his worth to the team. Listen.

You've been hearing it for months. So I'll ask you, if you're the Lakers, would you do the two picks? Would you do the two picks?

That's such an intriguing question at that. I think personally, when you look at this business of the league and knowing the landscape of the league, you have to go off your future, right? And we all know picks are so valuable in this league. And someone like myself, I'm heading into the last year of my deal, and you wanna make sure you're getting a return for your assets, right?

So if I'm the Lakers, I take a very hard look at this with the position that you're in, and I know what I can provide for a team, my leadership, my shot blocking, my three-point ability, and just my ability to make plays out there on the floor, and I take a very long look at it. But as far as pulling the trigger, that's, I get paid to shoot. Now, you know what, I meant to make these calls, so I couldn't answer that. Wow. Hey, Shupp, is there such a thing as reverse tampering? No, right?

There's no such thing as reverse tampering. Jay, honestly, when I heard this, I couldn't believe Woosh had the stones to ask that question. I don't know if Miles Turf, I don't believe this is, I don't believe an individual player can tamper. Woosh obviously is not affiliated nor paid by a franchise. What's amazing to me is did Miles Turner feel like he had to be so truthful because it's a podcast and in that kind of a forum, you feel like you have to disclose transparency?

I don't know, was he drinking before the pot? Like, you do not typically hear active athletes answer hypothetical questions about where they're not. The general answer is I'm an Indiana Pacer. I will play for the Indiana Pacers until I'm no longer a Pacer.

It does me no good because it's not my job to discuss such things. That's what you always hear. I mean, could you imagine if Russell Westbrook, if asked, hey, do you wanna be here? And he says, no, I wanna be traded. It's not my job, but yeah, you know, they can get the picks back, bring in talent.

I can be released and end up on a squad to be a free agent. Like, can you imagine if Westbrook said such a thing? You got Miles Turner talking about how he would potentially fit in for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Oh, whoa. It was, in all fairness, I mean, the Pacers have been irrelevant for nearly a decade now. Where Russ understands that as long, to me, he's still in LA, he's still in the bright lights, he's still in Tinseltown, Indiana is a road to nowhere in terms of professional sports, specifically basketball. Like, Miles Turner wants nothing to do with that franchise.

You know when they hired Nate Bork and that was the end of them? Well, sure. But the fact is- He doesn't care. Yeah, but you don't.

If anything, he's trying to push the eject button. Exactly. Absolutely. But here's the deal. Billy doesn't like Rick Carlisle.

No, no, no. He can big himself up all he wants about how he can block shots, of which he's typically always one of the leaders. He can knock down threes. He can play defense.

He can say whatever he wants. This is also a reality for Laker fans. You can bring in Miles Turner. You can bring in Buddy Heald.

I don't think that's the final answer. I don't think that's getting the Lakers over the hump. I would be shocked and I don't expect it because I don't think there's anyone, anyone that the Lakers can bring in this season that's gonna make a difference. That's gonna bring them closer to a championship. We might have to have this discussion again next year. And so damn it, I don't know what the Lakers can do, but Miles Turner ain't moving the needle.

Buddy Heald is not moving the needle. The Los Angeles Lakers are gonna have to go into this off-season again with no Russell Westbrook on the books. They have to hope that they can do something with those picks and there ain't nothing happening. They're good for them. They were able to celebrate last night and they're throwing water and hugging on Darvin Ham.

Congratulations on your first win. As long as they have this current roster, those wins are gonna be few and far in between. So damn it, you better enjoy them while they can. And I expect more of a surly Russell Westbrook than a congenial one who's willing to come off of the bench. And I expect more of a LeBron James not wanting to answer questions about Westbrook as we move on too.

And so Miles Turner, he can now start a campaign about please trade me to Los Angeles, even if he goes with Buddy Heald. It ain't making a difference. Enjoy the lake of victories while you can get them. It's the JR Sport Reshow here with you on CBS Sports Radio 855-212-4CBS.

That's 855-212-4CBS. Speaking of a victory, the Browns. They beat the Bengals tonight, Monday night football.

The final score is 32 to 13. We'll eventually talk about that game when we come back. Speaking of just someone communicating their thoughts and their opinions, I'm gonna share with you the opinions of a Kyrie Irving that seemingly got him in trouble again. Somebody needs to take away this man's phone. It's the JR Sport Reshow here with you on CBS Sports Radio. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief on CBS Sports Radio. Hey, JR, such a fan of yours, man. Thanks for taking my call. You know, you don't always get the most sane of callers, but you always handle it with such professionalism. And I really appreciate your content you put out, man.

Call in now at 855-212-4CBS. Oh, my call is all sane, all of them. People at work, they're working hard, they're at home, they're relaxing. Everybody's an upstanding individual, and nobody's insane.

It's the opposite of sane, and everybody's good. Tonight, an ugly matchup, Monday night football. The Cleveland Browns try to stay alive in hopes that Deshaun Watson can ultimately take them to the playoffs. Tonight, Cleveland beats Cincinnati in the Battle of Ohio, the final score 32 to 13. And so Cleveland, they now have a record of 3 and 5. Cincinnati, they fall to 4 and 4 without Jamar Chase out there to help out Joe Burrow, and it certainly showed. We'll talk more about the game as things continue.

Head coach of the Bengals, Zach Taylor, he's currently talking to the media, and so we'll have an opportunity to share some of that audio with you as he steps away. Right before we went to break, we talked about the Los Angeles Lakers picking up their first victory of the season last night against the Denver Nuggets. And then, unfortunately, I have to discuss with you the comments made by Kyrie Irving over the weekend, of which they lost to the Pacers, except for tonight in kind of a back-to-back situation, a home-in-home. The Brooklyn Nets, tonight, they take on the Pacers again.

This time, they walk away with a victory, 116 to 109. But unfortunately, Kyrie Irving, the centerpiece of that situation. I'm going to take some of your phone calls here, 855-212-4CBS. That's 855-212-4CBS.

And then I will share with you some of these comments that has Kyrie Irving back in some hot water. Johnny calling from Atlanta. You're on the JR Sport Brief Show. What's up, Johnny? What's going on, JR?

How are you? A lot of stuff I agree with you about, but I disagree. If Vile turns go to the Lakers and Buddy Hill, it'll put AD in his right position, and it'll spread the ball. Uh-oh. Go ahead, Johnny. You went out for a second. Go ahead, say again. It'll put AD in his right position.

Yeah, and it'll spread the floor full of blood. Those two can shoot. I'm a Pacers fan. And your producer, we ain't been traveling for a decade.

We've just only been traveling for like four years. We had people who was in the playoffs. Well, Johnny, who the hell has been thinking, well, the producer is Dave Shepard.

He's absolutely amazing. Johnny, you got knocked down in the first round four straight years. Is that relevant? Hey, but hey, that's just relevant.

That's somebody who at least he makes the playoffs. Johnny, I got Johnny. OK, I'm sorry. Yeah, Johnny. Listen, man, ain't nobody been thinking about the Pacers legitimately, legitimately, legitimately since Reggie Miller. Come on, Lil. We have Paul. We made Paul George. I'm just telling you the truth. I can sit here. If I wanted to take your position, Johnny, I could tell you about the Pacers. But I'm just being honest. They have not been relevant in the NBA to escape at, like, legitimate contenders since Reggie.

Man, that's facts. We wasn't in that with the E.C. Carver's final two years ago. We played against Miami. So, yeah.

So, who cares? Well, when have you looked at the Pacers and go, man, we got a real chance to win a championship. We got knocked down in the first round where Victor Oladipo got her. Oh, here we go. A couple of years ago, Victor first.

Oh, my God. Our main guy. You're telling me about Victor Oladipo. We made it to All-Star.

He bounced around the league, so he can't get up. Oh, my God. Johnny, you've been drinking tonight? You've been drinking? No, I drive trucks. All right, well, thank God you're not drunk.

I hope nobody on the road is drinking right now. But it's a fact, Johnny. Let's come to reality.

Nobody outside of you cares about the Pacers and the people in Indianapolis, OK? Hey, we on the tank right now. I understand that. But four years ago, we was in the tank. Well, maybe you found them to be that.

I find them to be just to be good in that period. But we can agree to disagree. Thank you, Johnny. All right. No doubt about it.

Johnny's just like, listen, man, I don't care. Like, if I want to talk about relevancy, I'm talking about, like, legitimate contention. Like, let's go into the season and say, oh, we're doing this. And we're doing, nah, man, yeah, they were good. But ain't nobody talking about the Pacers.

Not. And bringing in Miles, we can, Anthony Davis, he gets to move to his rightful position to do what? Be hurt? I don't care where he plays or what position you say he's playing. You got to hope that he's healthy. I don't see the buddy healed and Miles Turner. They still got to figure out a bench.

And it's just a continuity. It ain't happening. It can be a step towards it.

But that step won't take place this year is my point. 855-212-4CBS. Derek is calling from Atlanta. Thanks, guys, for having me. As I told you earlier, man, the only way the Lakers are going to come back, we're going to have to go and get Kareem Magic worthy. We're ramming us off the bench, man.

That's all the way we're going to come back. Time is winding down for LeBron. He's 38. And I hear a lot of people saying LeBron, the greatest player. But I'm not a Chicago Bulls fan. But until you can win six straight national championships or NBA championships without a loss, hey, man, MJ is a bad boy.

I wouldn't put nothing in front of him. So hey. And for the Lakers, man, the only way we won was a COVID year where everybody was sick, everybody was running. And hey, it is what it is. But I just want to say one thing, man. And I want to get off my Lakers. And that's roll tide. Let's go, baby.

All right, thank you. Derek is running us from running us off the Lakers and running us right on to Alabama. Listen, we know the Lakers aren't going anywhere. We know that they need some help. And yeah, we can bring Rambus and Kareem.

And we could put anybody on the team. Ain't helping them do nothing. And I don't know.

That was pretty random to LeBron James versus Michael Jordan situ. What are we going to do that for forever? 855-212-4CBS. Rich is calling from Florida. What's up, Rich? Hey, Rich, you're live. You are live. Yes, sir.

Good evening. OK, first of all, I'd like to address my Niners and Mr. Ed McCaffrey. I'm sorry, Chris McCaffrey. Yeah, you guys.

Daddy is Ed. Yes, sir. But once Deebo gets back on the field, they get that bye week.

They're going to be something to deal with. I would agree with that. I think you have a dynamic guy on your team who can throw a pass, rush a pass, be on the receiving end of one. Sure, Kyle Shanahan is known for gimmicks. He's known for rushing. He's known for using dynamic players. And he has one of the most dynamic players in the league when he's actually healthy. So absolutely.

I appreciate you taking my call. And this is for the Cowboy fans. They're going to do just like they do every single year. They're going to get the first round.

And they're going to choke. OK. Oh, Rich is having memories of this past NFL playoffs, which is fine. I don't know why he needed to throw it. What did the Cowboys do to him?

You just beat him in the playoffs. Give him a break. Let the Dallas Cowboys enjoy the ass whooping that they just handed out, man. Leave them alone. Let them enjoy their victories, right? Nothing wrong with that. Speaking of enjoyment, I told you I was going to mention this.

Let me go ahead and get it in here now. I just told you that the Brooklyn Nets, they just won a basketball game. Good for them. Tonight, they beat the Pacers. But the biggest story over the Brooklyn Nets, and it's going to continue to go on. It's not so much of Ben Simmons, who missed the game tonight against the Pacers, that victory with a sore knee. It's how combustible the Brooklyn Nets are. Yeah, they won a game tonight.

But Kyrie Irving is still the biggest story for the Brooklyn Nets. He's still on the team. He hasn't been suspended. He didn't get the boot.

He hasn't been muzzled. And this man, it's one thing after the other. You didn't hear about the, well, he says he didn't promote it. He says that he just, he shared it. Hebrews to Negroes, wake up Black America. He shared this on his social media.

A lot of people are not happy or thrilled with the contents of the film, saying and sharing that a lot of the themes are anti-Semitic. And Kyrie Irving was asked after the game about this by Nick Friedel of ESPN. And the NBA put out a statement disavowing just anti-Semitism, disavowing racism.

Joe Tsai of the Brooklyn Nets, who happens to own the team. He put out his thoughts and comments about what Kyrie decided to share. And he took it down yesterday being Sunday. But after Saturday's game, this is his interaction with Nick Friedel.

It was a tense one. To follow up on the promotion of the movie and the book. Can you please stop calling it a promotion? What am I promoting?

Put it out on your platform. But I'm promoting it? Do you see me doing?

Do you see me in front of the title? People are going to say that you are promoting it. Just like you put things out there, right?

Yeah, but I put things out there for a living, right? Right, but my stuff is not filled with anti-Semitic. Let's move on.

Don't dehumanize me up here. I'm not doing that. You're free to post whatever I want.

So save that and shut it down and move on to the next question. Kyrie, you have to understand that by posting what you did. I don't have to understand anything from you. It's not me. Nothing.

No people that you're making up, bro. Move on. By posting what you did, anybody who's going to look at it, and they're going to say, does he have anti-Semitic beliefs?

This is going to be a clip that he's going to marvel at. Is this any more questions? But you're not answering the question. This is another answer to your question. Oh, my god.

Let's make another Instagram clip so we could be famous again. Oh, my goodness. Lil' Tense much, huh? Lil' Tense.

Lil' Tense. Nick Friedle, he works for ESPN. Kyrie Irving wants to put things out. He says he's not promoting it.

And I don't know. He talks out of both sides of his mouth. On one hand, Kyrie Irving will tell you that don't dehumanize me. I'm just a regular guy. And I got a platform like everybody else. And I'm just like everybody else. And then two seconds before, Kyrie Irving will tell you that, yeah, I have a platform. I got followers. It's like, whoa, he's saying I got an army behind him.

Whoa. And this is just a continuous thing with Kyrie Irving. He says one thing, and then he does another. Or he says one thing, and then he contradicts himself. At this point in time, I wish Kyrie Irving would just not use his phone. I wish he didn't have social media.

And I'm all for people expressing their thoughts and their viewpoints and encouraging discussion or whatever, but not when it's hurtful or hateful of other people. And that's not for Kyrie Irving to decide. It's not for him to decide. And so whether or not he's talking about the vaccine but then refusing to talk about it, or whether or not he's saying he's going to stick with the Celtics, or whether he's going to talk about the shape of the Earth, or whether he wants to share messages from Alex Jones, and he's just always doing something in ways that are not constructive, which is unbearable. I mean, at this point in time, oh my goodness, I wonder if he talks to Aaron Rodgers.

I wonder if these two guys got each other on speed dial. It's like two dudes that just, they say whatever the hell they want, which is fine. This is America. You are well within your right to express yourself and your opinion. But as Kyrie said, man, you got a platform. Be smarter about it.

I think go ahead, say what you want, but don't say things that are hurtful, like enough of that. In the NFL, I wish Aaron Rodgers would go away. In the NBA, I've reached a point in no return. I wish Kyrie Irving would go away. I'm looking at my imaginary clock right now, and I'm trying to figure out when he says the next ridiculous thing that gets him out of the league. Or he is going to be a free agent.

Who's going to sign on to this guy? We're only not even a full month into the year, into the season, I should say. And Kyrie Irving is already having to beef, explain himself, not apologize, but be a distraction. It'd have been nice if they gave him a suspension, a boot. They said he spoke to someone in the Nets organization.

There's no free understanding as to who it was. Kevin Durant says it's not a distraction to anyone outside of the locker room. The existence of Kyrie Irving as a basketball player who almost does everything but play basketball is always something else on the side. It's a distraction. And God bless him if whatever he wants to extol outside of his career, whether it's the shape of the earth or conspiracy theories or films, go somewhere else and do it. I'm for freedom of expression. But don't say things that are hurtful to other people. And at least be more intelligent in your discourse and how you want to talk or say things. But this, putting that film out and not saying anything about it or just sharing it with no context, do better. Kyrie Irving is just, he's too smart for his own good.

And how he decides to express himself, I got to be honest, is not smart at all. It's the JR Sport Brief Show here with you on CBS Sports Radio, 855-212-4CBS. That's 855-212-4CBS. We just had a Monday night football game that just concluded. Here's an update. It was an ugly beat down. We'll talk about the beat down. I'll take your phone calls.

Speaking of ugly, the XFL is on its way to returning. We got a lot to do. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief on CBS Sports Radio.

You're listening to the JR Sport Brief on CBS Sports Radio. Hey, how you doing, man? I'm looking to you every night on the way home from work. I appreciate what you're doing, man.

You're a bad man with a jammer. Call in now at 855-212-4CBS. It's the JR Sport Brief Show here with you on CBS Sports Radio. Tonight, Monday night football, the Cleveland Browns, they beat up on the Bengals, 32 to 13. Joe Burrow even now in his short NFL career, he cannot overcome the Cleveland Browns. No Jamar Chase to help him out tonight.

No offense to really speak of, only 229 yards total. And then what else is new? Joe Burrow was treated like a piñata. Or it's Halloween. Hey, Shep, what would be the Halloween equivalent to a piñata? Is there anything that takes a beating on Halloween? A doorstep?

What would be the equivalent? Man, I would say, good question. I would have to say decoration house, because everyone's always messing with it, right? A decoration?

What's that? Well, yeah. I mean, in New York City, you have those that go all out. They deck out with the Halloween attire, and they put the decorations out, and the pumpkin carving and all that. They have the witches and whatnot. And then people just go up, and they egg the houses, and they destroy the property.

Well, that still happens. Oh my god, yes. People still beat up on people's houses? Like on Halloween, people still do like eggs and toilet paper? Absolutely. Are you kidding me?

Well, I don't know. Jay, you know how bad things have gotten in New York? You think people are going to dial it back on Halloween? I'm not even thinking about New York City.

I'm thinking about all over the country. I mean, I know vandalism is prevalent everywhere. I know Halloween. I feel I used to hear more about that years ago.

Not so much now. Like every day is Halloween all over America, right? That's a good point. But Halloween was the ultimate excuse for most people to turn into jackasses. Well, now they just do that every day.

Exactly. Every day is Halloween in America. I mean, just earth everywhere is Halloween. It's scary everywhere. Don't be afraid to go outside.

855-2124CBS, that's 855-2124CBS. Thank you to the Browns and the Bengals for giving us a Halloween delight, I'd say. 32 to 13, the Browns blow out the Bengals. We've talked about quite a bit. We'll dive a little bit more into the football game next hour, Jacoby Brissett currently talking to the media, Zach Taylor stepping down a few minutes ago, head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals, explaining the disaster tonight. So we talked about Roquan Smith being traded to Baltimore. We talked about Aaron Rodgers and his loss. Man, we talked about the Lakers winning a game. Miles Turner basically coming out and begging to be traded to the Lakers.

And we also talked about Kyrie Irving, just everything but ball, everything but basketball. This time sending out, promoting a film that he says he was not promoting, Hebrews to Negroes wake up Black America. And it's just a disaster situation. I have a whole army around me.

Well, this is the man who also said that he's just a ordinary guy. What do I know? Also, I mentioned briefly the XFL will be returning. And Dwayne The Rock Johnson told everybody the team names and we got head coaches who will participate. So we got a lot to do here over the next two hours as I continue. Let's get to the phone lines.

We got a lot of people who have been waiting patiently. 855-212-4CBS, that's 855-212-4CBS. Let's go out to Charlotte, North Carolina and let's talk to Justin. You're on CBS Sports Radio. Hey, what's up, man? How you doing? I'm excellent.

What's on your mind? Man, I just wanted to know like, why the Seahawks haven't been getting the coverage they deserve and why Gino Smith hasn't been getting the coverage he deserves? Well, like honestly, I think he's the hardest quarterback in it or one of the hardest quarterbacks in the NFC right now. And I think all the coverage has been pointed to other teams like the Packers for losing and you know, other teams, but like we're winning right now.

Yeah, the operative word is right now. This is a fact. Everything is about storytelling. And you certainly hear stories about Gino Smith and his improvement.

I broadcast in New York City yesterday on WFAN and I spent a good amount of time talking about Gino Smith and his turnaround, you know, taking on the Giants, one of his former teams and you know, knowing what he did when he used to be on the New York Jets. And so here's the deal. We know the expectations for the Seahawks going into the season were not high. They're certainly, they're out punching quote unquote, their weight right now with a record of five and three, but they're not gonna fully get that attention until they're standing up at the end of the season.

That's just the facts. There are bigger stories than what the Seahawks are currently doing unless they legitimately go on a run at the end of the year, which I don't think even probably you would say will happen. Well, I think I'll be talking to you in about two or three more weeks. I got faith in this. I think we gonna get it. Well, I'm not talking about two or three more weeks. I'm talking about a legitimate run at the end of the season. Do you think that's gonna happen for the Seahawks? I do, I do, I honestly do. So what are we talking like what, NFC championship game? Like help me out here. Okay, well.

That's what I'm talking about. Are they legitimate contenders? Can they get into the playoffs based on where they're at right now?

Yes, absolutely. But are you gonna go into the playoffs going? Oh my God, we got this. From what I'm seeing now, only team that's in our way is the Eagles.

I mean, who's better? Oh my God. Like right now in NFC.

Oh my God. If I had a choice, even looking in their own NFC West, I would look at San Francisco in their defense. I would look at them bringing on McCaffrey.

I wouldn't be out here just drinking the Seahawks Kool-Aid based on their hot start. Do they deserve credit for what they've been able to do up until now? Yes, and absolutely. Are the New York Giants quote unquote fool's gold? Yes. Do the Dallas Cowboys choke consistently?

Yes. But outside of thinking about the entire NFC, I would actually look at the team. That's basically a game behind them. And that's the Niners, man. I would worry about them, the Buccaneers. If they can get on track at the end of the season, I would favor them over the Seahawks. So it's early.

I would give it time. I'm not ready to just go, oh my God, the Seahawks are going to the Super Bowl. They won yesterday. They beat the Giants, which they should. New York Giants, speaking of Halloween, the New York Giants have just been waiting to turn back into a pumpkin.

And it took some time, but they handled them. Tyler Lockett was out there, dropped the touchdown, was able to pick up another one. Pete Cowell is always blessing folks with the highest of praise. Matter of fact, that's what he had to say about Tyler Lockett. Tyler is the, he's the best receiver I've ever been around.

I've never seen anybody do all of the things so consistently for such a long time. Of course he's going to make a double move in his court touchdown. You know, of course he's going to come back. It was just a matter, I thought, I told him, I think you're going to get two.

Before that, before it happened, I just had a feeling he would just, he was going to do something. And sure enough, he runs just a great double move and gets in the end zone just to let you know who he is again. There you go. You wanted some Seahawks attention, Seahawks praise. Well, there you have it.

They're five and three. Geno Smith is playing like a Pro Bowl caliber quarterback. We haven't seen a guy play this good since he was in college in West Virginia.

This is the best that he's played as a Pro. And we know the elephant in the room is that the, you know, that that Russell Wilson guy is no longer on the team. And so that has to feel good if you're a Seahawks fan, knowing that you're doing all of this without Russell Wilson. You're going out there winning these games. Now, can they stand to continue to improve on defense?

Yeah. If they had some ugly starts at the early portion of the year, Seahawks will be fine. I wouldn't be shocked if they made the playoffs. I'd be shocked if they did anything more than that, more than accidentally went around. Why are nobody talking about the Seahawks?

Because the expectations aren't there. Let them whoop ass the rest of the season first and then we'll talk about them, okay? 8-5-5-2-1-2-4 CBS. That's 8-5-5-2-1-2-4 CBS. We're going to take a break. When we come back, we're going to talk about this Halloween edition of Monday Night Football.

And yeah, it was ugly. The Browns beat up on Cincinnati, 32 to 13. I'll get some more of your calls as well. It's the JR Sport Brief Show on CBS Sports Radio. ["The Football Season is Here."
