Questions today on Jay Sekulow mod live from Washington DC Judy sent you a line. Phone lines were your questions right now called 1-800-684-3110. That's 1-800-684-3110 and now your host peccadillo Jay Sekulow library to be taking your calls to your questions. October the sponsor that the stimulus legislation. Lot of folks got a lot of questions about how this impacts them how it impacts their small business how to pack their church, how it impacts them individually. Now, as these systems are going live tried to again answer your questions because I think everyone of these questions that we answer probably thousands of people have the same question who are listening to the show and there benefiting from you who call in with these questions really talk about that today that really let people understand what Congress and the President has done for them to try to provide relief during such an uncertain time. Economically, a lot of things we want to accomplish in and really want to do here and this is a big part of what were doing is worth putting a lot of time answering questions because legislations can be confusing announcing it's going to affect and people start to see the benefit of it and there may be another one coming. We that we may be faced where you may need to be. So we want to make that as an available resource to our members from around the country. The people are: with knees were trying to answer those questions forthright look that we we spent time last week talking about politics of some of this, but today were really focusing on the questions that you have in fact for most of this week, but we are going to be focusing on questions that you all have asked because I think it's good information to get out from the American people right now and obviously you know hopefully will be any kind of clanks and you know there could be, but I do feel like I do feel like the government is really ready deliver on this when I can have like that Obama care meltdown. We had during the rollout of Obama care, that would certainly not be very good and so far, doesn't there be happening now, but again people are just going to be. I think people are also going to just still our understanding what they could qualify for and I I've seen this in the past through these let this legend kind of legislation where a lot of people who were qualified for relief and needed it didn't take it because they didn't know they were qualified or didn't know how be available to them.
So what were to try to do through this broadcast is make sure you know what you could be eligible for and remember this is this is your dollars taxpayer dollars that are coming to save your business save your employees save yourself in some cases, make sure you could pay your bills and you are entitled to them as the American if you qualify, so you should do everything possible to check to see if you are some of the baseline numbers are pretty easy. We'll talk about that about who's qualified who's not for the stimulus checks. Those are pretty easy for the house extended unemployment that assisted deployment out of limits. Very broad doubt and it's over people who bathe out of qualified a week and 1/2 ago. You may now fight now so were to answer all of that out for you because we know so we questions that have been coming into the broadcast. And I know for every single person who has that question who gets on the air that were answer get for 10,000 or 20,000 more pavements who didn't get on the radio broadcast or who might now know hey that relief could be available to be looked so we want to provide this is a service to you so I know this week numbers of fatalities are going to go up every day and rather than in your getting that from a lot of new sources but I really think what we think we need to do this week is answer your questions that were lawyers, government affairs folks were not medical doctors obviously were praying for better outcomes and in less fatalities and as we did last week with an upright but we really want to spend the week. I wanted to two things this week answers many questions we can answer where to play some of the broadcast that we previously done that answer some of these questions were in a public place of the interviews from some of the government leaders to so you can hear from them what they're doing. So there's some encouragement out here in what is going to be a very difficult difficult week.
We encourage as well as always to stay updated with us in ACLJ.or that's ACLJ.or I stamped it with all the cases all the work we've got going on that's ACLJ.or will be right back on Jay Sekulow live is a critical time for our nation and our world with so many challenges facing our country. Online is safe and secure giant Planned Parenthood to protect Christians facing persecution, much more. Every dollar makes a difference stand with the ACLJ today so online ACLJ to impact everyone a little bit differently. There are some broad provisions in their support provisions that are based on you applying for loans applying for loans. It turned into grants for your small business but we can answer a lot of questions for people please get them on the right track but I want to play this final message on the idea of fear that think that this is a big a big part of all of this. It's a big thing with the financial markets to be part of the economy. I think a lot of people are dealing with this I mean everyone who is not accept to some extent dealing with the fear whether or not your essay. Financial position of fear but of this unknown virus that that can kill that can grow that will be. Don't know when normal life will return or what normal life will actually look like and that schools are basically close across the country and doesn't like most of those will be returning to normal school. We don't know if we'll have the normal kind of summer that were used to in the United States of America where children can play with other children and their friends in and gather together in groups and Easter services will likely elope across the country not be taking place in person a lot of churches as we post on ACLJ.org great article about how churches are utilizing technology to my churches as well. But this message on fear tactic in a suboptimal and an contrast this with this just horrendous liberal left-wing idea of abolishing the family unit as we know it, you know, I just returning to the end that this form of individualism it abolishing that listen to what the Bible teaches us through again a reference rule.
This is from said he's heard director at St. George's Episcopal Church in Nashville.
There doing noonday prayers every day. I we've been sharing those of the secular community page as well. This came from one of those this week I listed the bite number six on fear of fundamental learning Christians and the people of God going all the way back to the Old Testament is that in the midst of calamity in the midst of disease midst of death and suffering.
We belong to God. And so I was struck in returning a Psalm 91 that it says in verse five says you shall not be afraid of any terror night, nor of the arrow that flies by day of the play stalks the darkness when I know here is, it does not say you shall be free from any terror or arrow or the play stalks darkness, but there will be free from fear of those things freed from fear of those states not free from any terror or arrow or the plague we think about how timely that is the plague that starts it that stalks in darkness can't see the coronavirus it would suck its invisible war that were fighting, but that we will be freed from fear.
We can be free from fear of those things. It doesn't mean again that there won't be those arrows that there will be the plague that we don't need to use our minds logic and reason to battle it to to do what's right smart but you can be free to fear, and I think as this goes on. That's going to be very important that a manner you write a lot about a about-face in your faith to this to me before you get back into the specifics is so important because I think fear drives a lot of the issues here. Some of it is rational. By the way, not all fear is irrational, some fear is very rational. I know one of my friends wife is an OB/GYN she's but going into a hospital every single day. So he's working from home he's taking care of the children this idea when I read this article from open this open democracy and MCI was the nuclear family. The patriarchy here. II was just talking to my buddy who is he's taking care of the children at home because he can work from home but they are having to fully fully self quarantine because his wife, the mother of the children at home that he's taking care of is got to go to a hospital every day. That's there's rational fear there but also that's that that just to me, it says this is how the white families are so important because they can come together. These times and make things work. It might not be perfect, they make it work yet and I would just almost guarantee you Jordan and your friend would tell you that it is those relationships with his family. This time were he's got a focus on his children that actually make living through this time and thriving through this time so important.
I loved the clips that you played Jordan because the hope that we have is not one that is rooted in this physical body and I mean I think that's what's so missed in this article here and that that that the passage of Scripture. I love the one you played, but the one that always speaks to me in a moment like this comes out of Isaiah 43 where God tells Isaiah why we are right. We were created. He says the people that I formed for myself, Jordan.
The reason that were here is something so much larger than just ourselves.
That's why we don't have to fear. Yes, there are going to be threats to our physical body and you know none of us is going escape the the physical death at some point we would hope to push that off beyond but the fact that that does not have to be the end for us is why we don't have to fear moments like this.
I love the clip that you played and I think it's important as we do kind of a re-center where our priorities are to remember why we created. We were created just for ourselves. We were created for the creator.
People ask you where is this idea of abolishing the family coming from major international organizations are seizing on the scope in 19 moment. These are George Soros back, Ford foundation, backed organizations big organizations with hundreds of millions of dollars in resources putting out the information to abolish the family so we wanted to contrast that stay there doing it in Lida Kovic 19 there saying hey NLA release everyone. No more private property. This that that's full on assignment.
It's like total communism communal living in this world were told right now to to stop the spread of the virus we to do the opposite. That's why wanted to kinda counteract that today and again you get a New York Times editorial saying make more make abortion more available during the pandemic pandemic, not less.
Either is evil. There is wrong and right in these moments, and that's where working around the clock in the ACLJ to make sure whatever legislation is moving through whatever is happening on Capitol Hill. Whatever legislation the President is signing. It excludes as much of those evil forces as possible and I think in this stimulus, though I get it's it's a lot it's big.
I know people have concerns 800 pages. They may not like everything in it than we were successful in getting the worst of the worst out absolutely. I don't like everything in it, either during your never going to in a moment of crisis, we have to essentially print $2 trillion but look there worst of the worst, all of which was added in Speaker Pelosi's bills.
They came out and I think here's the main thing Jordan this is a pretty much exclusively about the coronavirus threat, not 100%. There are some provisions, I would point to that are unrelated.
Let's go to the phones Robin in Ohio online for Robin. Welcome to Jay Sekulow live euros a year.
So much for supporting a question are both retired and we repeat Social Security and pension and delete file for the pay car accident, family file, taxes, return every year and we make less than 70 but we still receive a check. Quick and easy answer for Robin sand is absolutely yes yes absolutely. As long as that taxable income that you mention is under that $75,000 a person, or if you file jointly under hundred and 50,000 you would get the full amount.
So there you go.
That was a quick and easy. When I but I could see him. He was a lot I got this I got this but is larger below that amount.
And again it further for married couple again you're talking about hundred $50,000 year and any bills within 2400 if you file jointly or 1200 separately.
If you file separately. Let's go back to the phones again. Marion California line 6 Mary, welcome to Jay Sekulow life here on the call that I might carry and I have my security direct deposited. However, I don't have withholding taken so therefore I pay my taxes by check or online or whatever. Each year, so I don't have any kind account set up at the IRS is first or direct deposit.
Will they use my Social Security account or do I have to set something up if the answer is yes, but implementation regulations are going to be key easier so they should be able to use what you have set up through your Social Security account for the direct deposit to get this stimulus to you within this is where the regulations become important or not at that stage yet another to work very fast the treasury to do that in the IRS to do that but if you have already some kind of direct deposit set up with the federal government treasury department in one of the divisions should be able to work out that way. Yet, the legislation specifically anticipated the situation Jordan and they are supposed to be able to recognize you through your Social Security account. But again that is one of those Jordan, that is not just gonna be a regulation that's gonna come out of the Treasury Department. There can have to team up with the Social Security Administration to make sure that all of these people are identified. 1-800-684-3110 for 30 years the American Center for Law and Justice has been dedicated to protecting your religious and constitutional freedoms because of you. We've seen great success in the course and Congress concerning the issues that matter most to you and your families ACLJ chief counsel Jay Sekulow are decades long commitment to the Constitution and the rule of law is at the center of everything we do.
The bottom line artwork cannot take place without your generous support ACLJ consider making a gift online portion giant plan.
Protect Christians facing persecution, much more. Every dollar makes a difference stand with the ACLJ today so online and sealed J is a critical time for our nation and our world with so many challenges facing our country. The work of the American Center for Law and Justice has never been more important during this time of uncertainty.
There's no better way to support the ACLJ then through online giving ACLJ chief counsel Jay Sekulow we truly appreciate your financial support without it would be impossible to do our work here and around the globe in the best way to support our work is to make your financial gifts online ACLJ.org online giving simple and secure, and by making it online. Give your support goes to work immediately, enabling the ACLJ to defend human life to stand up for our good friend Israel worked to uncover the corrupt staying in Washington and so much more.
Make a difference today support the work of the acljonline@aclj.org, every dollar makes a difference today online ACLJ research to answer people's questions. We have a lot of questions coveted about this is important through that whole team member such as we did for important truth whole team across the country of lawyers, experts, legislative experts, policy experts, who been pouring through this 800 page stimulus bill, which is you know how it impacts you in your small or your small business and get it all the different situations. Our listeners may find themselves in, so that we can answer these questions for you because this will pass as Ted Cruz is said to others depending on if there's some kind of moving the house.
It may take later longer today, but it will pass. It will get to the President's desk by the weekend and this this will go into effect so we can start answer your questions about it now Rene in North Carolina online one Rene, welcome to Jay Sekulow live your on the air locking portfolio. Clearly people or lower income levels on disability. Special security were definitely generally a player in earlier this morning on a different news report I heard someone say that people in that category would have to go through an application process and everything that some clarification on that as well for people because they are eligible. Do they have to go through different application process there.
There is the potential for that Jordan.
But there's a very reasonable reason why the IRS Artie has the information for people who are file or so.
If you're not a file or they don't have your information to security system or maybe disability that is actually plugging a gap there so we don't know exactly what that will look like, but Jordan, that's a good thing they're trying to make sure that someone they don't already have information on still has a way to get their information into get the check will have guidance on that pretty shortly someday. So understand what what what what were saying there is that they need your information to get your check so you will need to probably let them know who you are and in your situation because if you're if you are to the point where you're not paying any taxes or you are just living off disability. The IRS may not know exactly who you are and again is a huge millions of people were talking about. So you need to notify their gonna put that on the place very quickly because you absolutely are eligible for depending if you're married or that it is the $2400 +500 for children dependents. Each one of those or $1200 for those who are single so you're eligible for that. If you're again on disability on Social Security and and or if your low income and pay no taxes so you ought not on in the IRS system. If you will, so you will need to sit actually a good thing. I think that that that you will that you will have that tool to be able to notify that I am eligible for this and I deserve because again you deserve this as part of the stimulus package. So, great question. I'm glad were able to answer things like this for people because I know there's a lot of people out there like like Rene, let's go back to the foes take more calls were questions, let me encourage you folks were able to do this because we have a huge team behind us supporting and doing the work all around the clock at the ACLJ would many people again if they're working from home if working with more skeleton staff. The ACLJ is fully operational. Right now, and I think by seeing this broadcaster. Hearing this broadcast. You know that absolutely is true and you know because we can put you to page numbers on specific parts. These provisions and answer these questions for you live right on the fly about this information that we need you to support the work of the ACLJ is a critical time for us. So if you're someone who is in a stable financial position you've kept your job. You're not in the situations where you worried about losing your job, you can make your donation to the ACLJ doing today and do it online ACLJ.org double the impact your donation. It's a matching challenge month in March. That means whatever you donate is effectively doubled for the ACLJ and if you can make sure you don't irregular to the ACLJ but you do it through the mail. We really encourage you to use ACLJ.org/donate right now because were getting those donations much quicker. It's more difficult because of the way that some of our offices or art staff did the rules of the stay in place orders estate hobo orders.
It's harder for us to access some of those male donations that have come through so there go it coming through at a slower pace or getting them so don't worry about that. The edit we will be able utilize those resource like the disappearing but if you can donate online.
You're comfortable doing that it's safe and secure. That's the best way to get the resources to us right now. So we continue operating at 100%. That's it.
ACLJ.org encourages donate right now you can double the impact your donation. That means if you donate $50 right now it is like $100 for the ACLJ that's for the entire month of March. Back to the phones we go, let's go to jail in Florida online. Three.
People always have questions about this, how does it impact congressional expenses scale welcome to Jay Sekulow live your on the air. Also put real money for them and things like that true yes it is.
There are there's about $25 million in salary and expenses for the house in about $10 million for the Senate Jordan.
This is one of those 200 swords.
I think they probably should've refrained new that it is true they incurred more expenses during this and those are probably dollar figures that are more or less accurate. I would've liked to have seen them refrain from that page about $25 million for the house in about $10 million for the Senate and out of a $2 trillion package we try to help the American people during the crisis is not worse again because he had to have bipartisan support here to get this moving quick so that everything is perfect but they do have incurred more expenses with summer having to travel back right now's because of what Thomas Massey did and so thin they reported that they do have a quorum right now. They got a quart of the House of Representatives, the Democrats reported that, which means if they have a quorum they could do this by voice vote and get this done a pretty soon today. As we've explained all of this is the legislation you gotta then turn the legislation into action so that people can fill out the forms they need apply for that the loads they can become grants. Let's go to live in Pennsylvania online five lid welcome to Jay Sekulow live small business owners that we own a small residential construction company in Pennsylvania and we where we were sent down about a week ago and that same day we told our employees that they should go ahead and file for unemployment. We only have three employees and and then we heard about the federal government wanting people to keep their employees on and offering the small business loans to cover payroll expenses as well as some other expenses that our employees have already started.
I'm night I got an application for this from the small business bureau to kiss file for a loan, but are we even eligible since they already started the process for having received anything yet, but as you would be happy to get answer your your hypotheticals because you can apply because you can then rehire your employees and then you'll be eligible for forgiveness for the loan so will just be like a normal small business loan will actually return to a grant so if you rehire those three employees and you use this for its there's $349 billion available to small businesses in this package for writ payroll and utilities at the loan. If you rehire those those three individuals become a grant so you won't have to actually pay that back so hope that is for you to get you not to go through the process but absolutely you can be eligible for this.
This is made this broadly eligible for people to get back on payroll.
What you get people back on payroll. To be eligible for these loans.
The grant will be right back on Jay Sekulow live I continue with your phone calls, questions and comments and share the bronchus of the American Center for Law and Justice working solutions at home and abroad for limited time you can participate in the ACLJ matching challenge constitutional and religious freedom is most important to you in your beautiful gift today online live from Washington DC Jay Sekulow line phone lines are open for your questions right now: 1-800-684-3110 1-800-684-3110 and now your host secular secure library to be taken to the uncoated IT. The response to that the stimulus legislation. Lot of folks who got a lot of questions about how this impacts them how it impacts their small business, how it impacts their church, how it impacts them individually.
Those are pretty easy for the extended unemployment but insisted on deployment out of limits.
Very broad doubt and it's over people who bathe out of qualified a week and 1/2 ago. You may now fight now so were to answer all that out for you because we go to so many questions that have been coming into the broadcast.
And I know for every single person who has that question who gets on the air.

Every dollar makes a difference stand with the ACLJ today so online ACLJ. Will we need a little bit of faith in our show this week as we kick off this site used to be, then I thought, who's recall called when a friend is like a pastor because as I noted other options goes into we need to kick this this morning off right.
So I called a buddy Michael sweet from striper that's right he's doing is right over my shoulder. I appreciate your Michael for first Avenue, absolutely. I guess I could be referred to as a metal pastor the Bible before value. So I feel I feel like that counts. Obviously everyone knows, lunches that show no striper merely to go adult back story, but man we are so excited that some really excited to talk to this morning that I want to start by just asking you specifically how things going for you and for as a touring performer, someone who makes his living on the road with this is a weird time. I know for for pretty much everyone in the music industry is a very strange time and I always remind myself at the end of every day beginning of every day that were all in this such as Michael sweet it's it's not just state at music community. It's the world everybody's been affected by this. In one way or another. It's it's a little scary. It's the unknown, not knowing what tomorrow brings.
But as believers. Everybody knows that I'm a I'm a man of deep faith whispers band band of deep faith were always going to keep the faith and in believing that God do all the craziness has a plan and he does absolutely for you though as a guy who is the time of the road.
We saw music sales changed so dramatically and for your interest the last decade or 15 years now were sitting touring just change so much think that's where you look to the RTC people are doing all these live streams are coming up with new innovative ways to do it. I see that you guys and this was before this are now selling the battle Van the collectible battle Van yes you can preorder like there are other ways you connect with your audience.
I guess at this time his. It's sad, but certainly taken away a couple of the mainstream.
It is it is it I mean you know at the end of the day anywhere administratively business to write course you know this is how we make a living. How we pay the bills and you know we have to be smart businessman and try to figure out a way to survive and pay those bills. Adapting said the great thing about striper is resection unusual band. You know I don't want to compare us to kiss but were kind and Christian version of kiss kiss fair to say you may not notice but I just made Logan's day. Just maybe best friend. I like there is that sort of districts, not just music.
It's not just music. We have a very particular style in terms of our look in our image, and you know that's more sellable than just a band that wears black or the EE doesn't have that kind of an image and stripers always have that you know all the yellow black stocking everything so my first guitar was a bright green Washburn guitar and I always love having the Washburn because I know your fellow Washburn man, but you speak about having these iconic pieces the that Washburn right there yellow and black is such an iconic guitar that is known through the entire music world to pick up Leggett's argument that I can never learn to play guitars are available today are available and it's interesting to me. Washburn is really good to be to God really took care of me.
There was one-of-a-kind was a guy by the name of Gil Soucy love him. He's a dear friend, but he left Washburn so now my future regard to Washburn is unknown, but I do have quite a few signature models out and available you can go to Sweetwater you know American music supplied. You can go to the guitar petal shop in Plymouth and by my guitars, acoustics and electrics.
I'm very blessed to have that. I've also been doing.
I just joined up to something called cameo. A lot of people are doing it. I was skeptical I was on the fence because I didn't want to jump on the bandwagon's and I didn't want to take advantage of people. Not that everyone else is. I'm just saying you know you charge a lot of money for just a quick message I feel uncomfortable with that person. Like so I went on and I lowered the price to like 25 blocks and I'm trying to inspire people with it you now and pray for him and give them words of hope through this tough time and it's really cool I'm gay I'm being blessed by that incredibly concert forever and you might suggest I saw a freely a few years ago and usually last year he did shock me before she thought, okay, it's going to be. Here's the story. When I got electrocuted like the floor know he actually went on this sort of patriotic conservative pro America you hold pitch well for that and people explode in the crowd went crazy and I've seen some your like more political postings of your personal page Michael and curious, do you see that audience could we do going that direction where if anyone thought about that 20 or 30 years ago, but I feel like the people that are coming out to your shows people are supporting this specific kind of rock 'n' roll still are behind us starting to lean more maybe a little more conservative in their views. Maybe not in their their lifestyle, but in their point of view, absolutely. Well I hope so. I mean, because that's the way it should be, you know. And, I'm a firm believer in I don't care who the President is you like them or not paid him love them, whatever it may be we should still support him in his efforts to try to make the country better and you know when I post something about Donald Trump in support and say I think you know our team is doing to grow our leaders are doing a great job leading the students pandemic and I get flack for I'm thinking to myself wow they hate is so deep sometimes that were blinded by that yeah now it's really sad. And that's something that Lou and I have had conversations about is that is exactly what you're saying is that this is a very serious crisis that a lot of people are affected by not just healthwise but financially their their ability to live across the board and you see from some people that have or are blinded by their their bias or their dislike of an individual, almost rooting for that person to fail.
But when you root for that person. The failure rooting for the country to fail when we should be wanting everyone to survive and thrive through this and at this point, the world right by me as it's a worldwide pandemic that's affecting every single person on the planet right now or will is going to certainly yeah it's really a strange and bizarre mentality but man that's unfortunately the world we live in right and it's it's always been that way and you know it's not gonna stop me from supporting our leaders you know and there's not one man or woman on the planet Earth that could run this situation perfect ID need our prayers and support. I make more now than ever. Absolutely. And here's part of the story. The show was we decided there is an audience that I think is wanting this kind of content that wanting this kind of music and wanting a lot of these things are cut all lines up together. It's Easter week for having you on and most people Easter plans are little bit different. I assume your plans, whatever they are your traditions you have forever that most of us have had are going to look a little different look a little different.
Now I'm gonna look a little different when I step foot out my door for the first time be 20 pounds heavier. You know that with the beer down to my knees. Most likely I don't know man but is not tribute band now. I think the key in that the most important point in all of this wedding year. A person of faith or not. If you're not a person. If a man please become one, because that's the only thing that's going to get us through this is our trust in the Lord our faith in the Lord and train humbling ourselves and saying God help us} certainly brings different side of peacefulness that maybe you can at least attempt to get to. There's a there's a plan to go about and I think that's trimming their moments in our days were obsolete. It's can be stressful to emotional media. Having that backbone certainly helps you suffered first type are in for the tour with with Tony from TMT that was supposed to be happening.
As of now honestly that's in the fall right that's in the faltering postponement of farming at this point I don't see anybody. Anybody that it does it. Nobody knows what's happening in the near future.
Right now nobody immediately changes as we get these updates and changes daily, and you know who knows where were going to be out in September, but right now it's postponed to September were very excited to do this tour. Can't wait to get out the 1987 tour the pointed at the title for that is because Tony and I tore together using a bankruptcy and Tia striper loudness. It was one of the best toys and I've never been apart and so were trying to beat bring that back to some degree. This is wrapping up now. This is the time to write will see what the next year looks but as the click is based mostly on the end of the road to a multithreaded committee feel that fill that gap a little and really did you know he did it with a few different bands of Paul Stanley calls and says hey man, I'm stepping down*child, which is step up to step up and input on that may hundred on the red yellow black.
We we go out there shirtless you know I can't wait. I don't know how well I could, which is only one Paul Stanley is pretty legit. The we did pretty good justice. I think there were huge kiss for and we take that step very serious but I mean still kisses kits you know you there's only one case in there. There will always only be one that's telling me that the check. Thank you so much for joining us Easter to you and your family and the shows history. We are taking her calls but we have a special guest joining us today like we have done throughout this week from Florida from West Virginia now from Ohio State officials, people working different aspects of state government. Now they been responding to covert, 19, and today we got Don Parsons. Another good friend of mine that the legal counsel for the Ohio state Senate they would have a deal with this at the state level with state laws member that's going on as well. Simultaneously with the federal government is doing. States are also taking action and by the way, Don also has a word for the ACLJ and dog your state also was involved in these cases to protect life and with the Planned Parenthood I finally get you because you were one of the first states of Ohio to say no that abortion clinics are not essential businesses for purposes of these shutdowns does great to have you on today tells about that first this that this that it's a very pro-life government you had in Ohio and you been on the frontlines of a lot of these battles willing to go to court over the issues it's and often times Ohio was the first one sued this time as he was the second state suit were involved in this, not the Sixth Circuit but there's a lot of support for this pro-life legislation and pro-life at this time was an action by the governor and by that date.
The leaders there Don to say in Ohio were not could have these essential services are absolutely right. It will all pro-life record it going on. Year after year important thing about this case is a pilot supplemental complaint to the PRP pill until they try to get into a judge would already issue a Temporary Restraining Order on that case and join into this and so little to say that abortion services despite 2900 cases of coronavirus, the virus and 81 death that did abortion take precedent over saving lives you just really proud what you're doing in the canister and some other ACLJ alumnus and government, which is just great Don Lemaster. This adjustments in the numbers in Ohio.
Ohio expect to those numbers is expected. Those numbers are growing.
What is the plans look like and then select her anywhere near the apex of the both the highest point yet knowing the beginning of April and output likely protected at least two weeks or four weeks and and now we have updates every day seems like the case of the grumbling been doing successfully and keep on keeping people apart and keeping covert from spreading rapidly.
By the limiting mass gathering we started early in March. So that's one thing that may be pushing the tie later out so we don't have a we can build a healthcare infrastructure that we need to get supplies and ask you, and that is we had turned my switch on from Florida the other day and he was on last night on a Tucker Carlson program and that is getting supplies PP equipment.
How does that look in Ohio right now. Why thinking that because I was just on the phone with someone earlier this week that hey I got a friend in Texas and they got it the ability to get nasty Ohio. So within an hour. This company called that we are in and they had that information to the lieutenant governor and the governor in their working to procure supplies so we don't have enough stuff yet, but it's sort of the resiliency of the free enterprise system in America today.
Okay need ventilators. The burgers are producing them when the senator the pharmacist get started making hand sanitizer giving it to the emergency responders got people filling that so it's really just eat. These are American heroes who are stepping up and doing the right thing and not playing in a court of politics are different, they people live in Ohio to his was a country that is again I meet a lot of working people in Ohio. Don and right now a lot of businesses that are able to operate some that would be considered essential, but some like you said, who are there credits changing their business model for for what is good. What is the psych state legislature looking to do. If this is more like long-term, and this virus is going to be a longer battle than when you thought the initial peak was it we see what the federal government doing what you think will be sitting at the state level what's already happening at the state level we played last week that a lot of the running of government is closing out golden testing like that and so we had 457,000 unemployment claims in the last two weeks that the hundred thousand more hundred thousand more. There was entirely all of last year so is trying to coincide with the settlement government doing with the paycheck protection.
What Pres. Trump is doing to provide help the small business of people are laying off their employees and try to ride this out to that time. But I expect it in June will have some sort of economic focus legislation because violence is for people because most as you said Moses now is convinced that alone but I want to repeat that again Those unemployment number six is Ohio.
This is an area of the country.
Roaring back with jobs right at me, so that under these last years jobs are coming back there roaring back, but to help tell people about what you've experienced in the last week in Ohio with his is more unemployment than in the entire year before hundred thousand more unemployment in the last two weeks in all last year that all of last year and up almost 5000 people retirement, Ohio.
Yet you know it will overlap eight years and is cut spending cut cut taxes and leasing growth through that rather than raising taxes. Only we had Ohio on the right track and just this will anticipate some sort of economic think we have to balance their budgets.
We can't just deduct that spending about it in when people are working. It doesn't do any good to raise the income tax because you can collect any revenue from that. So I guess I think this will be itching to see a sand as well.
Is this the federal government approach and what Don's document to the states, not just making the closing decisions which is their initial decisions they made, but next up is the obese state kind of economic decisions to make as well.
As this goes on until you can hear from God and 00 this is Ohio to the huge state with many big cities and industrial cities to for the country that that they're planning for long-term here. This is not like that.
This is done in two months and it should be Jordan, and I think this is particularly important when it comes to the unemployment insurance portion of this because remember most of that is state administered. The program now expands it from 26 weeks to 39 weeks and put $600 a week on top of what the state is doing the look. This goes back to the conversation we had earlier this is the immediate response in just a few weeks from now both the states and the federal government are going to have to decide where were adding this and what is necessary next and done anything for you Fred. Those who do work at that unit that you work at the state level and so is a kind like an all hands on deck what you like you were talking that you are you are here, the deputy legal counsel for the Ohio city are working on procurement a mask so that kind of the situation.
It is now for government for free for you all, that are working absolutely and possibly Canon and changing it and typically have competitive bidding like that but it sounds like from the things were getting better prices now without having to do that because people are saying hey how can we help we have the supplies with them on a 747 will get them over to wherever they're being produced and sent back to Ohio is great to hear and appreciate you off all these different state officials who take the time out this weekend and got busy.
A lot of work to do to update us because we sweettalk switch out the federal approach we hear from you though we hear from other callers called from states around the country to let you kind of an insight into what states are doing even see the change this week from when we had Gerard from Florida document the 3M issue in the present, enacting the Presidential other than the dead, the declaration of the DPA together DPA on 3M.I really appreciate Don Parsons, deputy legal counsel for the Ohio Senate. Don, thanks for being with us today. All right, folks, gratifying by the way you and JB and Jared and Don who all the friends all went to college and law school together and can work. Everybody heading in to give you an update to about what happened at the state level and senior year at Ohio socioeconomic issues in the next legislative state package touching Exide ACLJ dental the American Center for Law and solutions at home and abroad for limited time you can participate in the ACLJ challenge for every dollar you donate $10 and becomes $20, $50 gift becomes 100 protecting the constitutional and religious freedoms you forgive today online
