Breaking news today on secular as the American civil law just inside the coalition letter to Congress, taxpayer of abortion. Yes, if you now want to hear from you Sharon post call one 863, 11 secular. We are to your phone calls 100-6312. That's what hundred 683110 ski rights to its letter I signed on on behalf of the American's are flawed. Justice is just been released to the public. This is a group of of various groups from Washington DC across the country are encouraging. If not demanding that Congress reinstate the Hyde amendment through whatever budget reconciliation is done. We talked about that this this massive reconciliation package also talked about the fact that the Hyde amendment.

It runs out at the end of this month. Now there could be a continuing resolution to fund Congress will give it to all those details, but we got to make sure the language is there and we know that's got to emanate from the Senate. Why because the house currently controlled by Nancy Pelosi and the Democrat party that the votes are are not there but really explain how the Senate working with. It looks like acid or mansion to be the low Democrat that would join 50 Republicans just getting it over the line so it's of going to be very close and to make sure that in the chaos of the budget running out. You know the talk about shutdowns and things like that. At the end of this month. We want to make sure that language is there because that since 1976 that is been clear is the taxpayer dollars cannot be used to fund abortions right behind amendment came into existence for that very reason to make sure that your taxpayer dollars are taxpayer dollars are not used. The bond abortion services, which means more money to Planned Parenthood, and others. So it's it's been on the books for goodness to well over 40 years. But you now have a situation where a very pro-abortion house, although again closely divided because of the Republican minority is a significant minority is clearly would probably I think the boat would be there to do away with the Hyde member. Frankly, not as I can happen in the Senate so I think hopefully and I'm glad you signed the letter on behalf of the ACLJ. This is another example of where talk is one thing in action is something else and we do both at the ACLJ but I think we have to be clear and I think in being clear.

We have to make it very well understood that in fact we are talking about taxpayer funding of abortion. This doesn't affect Roe versus Wade. This is just your taxpayer dollars not going to find abortion. That's what's on the Hyde amendment's all about. That's right I get into that integrating greater detail to within a minute, our director of government affairs recruit nails can be joining us this first half are the broadcast. Talk about a new piece up at ACLJ.or previewing secretary of Lincoln's testimony next week before the House armed services committee rustica to get into the citalopram leadership that was announced in these up absurd headlines like the US is concerned about the all-male Caliban cabinet with they were expecting what they're expecting the Taliban all the sudden to start allowing women into the highest levels of government, or any levels of government, for that matter, or to even participate and the USA.

You know that their concern is asking for more diversity but ask you this to the Taliban as they announce an interim government. Most of these guys are four of them were in in Gitmo and and traded for Bo Bergdahl at the rest. I believe that UN sanctions that bounties on their head from the US government is as terrorist so will go through that as well get a lot to talk about today in a school choice case at the supreme court. The ACLJ is also getting involved in so a lot to talk up actio what you join to share with your friends and family. If you're watching through Facebook periscope YouTube rumble. I share this broadcast. And again I be active in the broadcast.

Your comments your questions for us comments for us. You put those in the chats in the various social media outlets where this is also were you watching or give us a call at 100-684-3110. All this information to on high are recruit a blog that's up at ACLJ.or will be right back on secular challenges facing Americans or substantial time and are no more freedom and sword constitutional rights are under attack more important than ever to stay with the American Center for Law and Justice for decades now ACLJ on the frontlines protecting your freedoms defending your rights and courts in Congress and in the public arena and we have an exceptional track record of success. But here's the bottom line we could not do her work without your support, we remain committed to protecting your religious and constitutional freedoms and then remains our top priority, especially now during these challenging times. The American Center for Law and Justice is on your side, you're already a member.

Thank you. If you're not well this is the perfect time to stand with us ACLJ.where you can learn more about her life changing become a member today ACLJ only when a society can agree that the most vulnerable invoice is, is there any hope for that culture to survive. And that's exactly what you are saying when you stand with the American Center for Law and Justice, defendant the right to life, we've created a free powerful publication offering a panoramic view of the ACLJ's battle for the unborn is called mission life will show you how you are personally support the publication includes a look at all major ACLJ cases were fighting for the rights of pro-life activist ramifications of Roe V Wade, 40 years later Planned Parenthood's role in the end what Obama care means to the prone life in many ways, your membership is empowering the right to question your free copy mission life today online ACLJ/secular admitted in Washington DC stand their letters but released its impressive group of of different kinds of organizations all with one similar focus that they are pro-life organizations delay sets a part of the work they do at some these groups that's that's all that's their singular focus the letters been released and the timing is important. I think you people see members of Congress talking about the state as well because the push is on now to make sure this language which expires at the end of September. We can go through this routine, but when you get a divided Congress to how closely divided is right now and the reliance on the Senate.

I just would explain them for people out there that it's it's a I get to include the Heideman again should not be this massive debate should be bipartisan.

It's about taxpayer funding not going to abortion procedures. Specifically, but this seems like because of all these divisions in Congress and how closely divided the Senate's it's going to be sent with the push for this entire month yet hundred percent Jordan in this is something the American people want. They do not want their taxpayer dollars to go toward important even even about 1/3 of pro-choice Americans. Jordan don't want taxpayer dollars is for abortions and that's why after almost 50 years.

This is been a part of federal law. But during the next several weeks on this are to be really critical. And that's why this letter why Kate was sent today. That's why the next several weeks, or can be critical for ACLJ members and for all of us be ACLJ because there is going to be a two-pronged approach in the United States Congress to repeal what is known as the Heideman which is that protection against taxpayer dollars being used for abortion. Jordan just in in summary, those two parts are number one. The first one is to be the irregular appropriations process that you just mentioned a government funding runs out at the end of this month so Congress has to determine how to find next year's budget. Now it's almost in all likelihood it's can happen through a continuing resolution, but Jordan House of Representatives has already laid down language date they already want the Hyde amendment. I removed and said that the United States Senate is going to have to stop that and then Jordan, the second phase of this, the really throwing everything at the wall here. The second phase of this is gonna be in the reconciliation process process. That's a $3.5 trillion bill during they want to fund abortions in that bill. Fortunately, when the United States Senate passed their underlying budget. There was an amendment passed by Sen. Langford Sen. Joe mansion of West Virginia, a Democrat voted in favor of it and it passed by a single vote that does reinstitute the Hyde amendment, but all of that to say Jordan. There can be a lot of bites at this apple over the next several weeks.

That's why this letter came out today in defense of protecting taxpayers from having a fun abortion. That is something I get it's critical to ACLJ but it's it's again it's one of those fights that we are sorry to see is becoming a lot more aggressive is a lot more divisive than it used to be. Even right after Roe versus Wade. Republicans and Democrats came together and said we don't want Americans to have to fund this sword I can use taxpayer dollars to fund this divisive procedure that more than you at least half the country at that time and now believes is murder. So were not even if it's legal were not going to use taxpayer dollars to fund those procedures and everyone accepted that board not living in that that time.

Anymore know that reality doesn't exist anymore, and here think I think that aspect of it or not particularly troubling. And that is a majority of Americans are pro-life, and a majority of Americans certainly do not think there should be taxpayer funding of abortions.

Having said that, you would think Congress would just compromise in that regard, and simply say okay half the countries pro-life, more than half the country doesn't think there should be taxpayer funding of abortion.

Let's not have taxpayer funding of abortion missed a thought like you doing anything that impacts Roe versus Wade. But this is the days of Congressman Hyde in the days of that kind of negotiation and Tip O'Neill. Those days are done so now any chance they abortion industry left gaps they are going to try with everything they have two quick abortion front and center and remove even common sense funding issues like don't take my taxpayer dollars were procedure right of war, and that is been the understanding of our country for over 40 years and I think now as you correctly did you sign that letter we have to not be prepared to fight and fight aggressively which we will do what is a legislative battle is that singular battle anymore used to be. Use the funding we it's a via Medicaid.

This is where you put in the Hyde amendment protective language, but now these with the continuing resolutions or omnibus bills and the different ways that reconciliation being utilized for as the Democrats and hope of the $3 trillion in in federal spending. At that you can't it's not just a one track got to make sure it's here it's multiple places naturally become perfect pervasive through the federal government. Jordan me back in 1976 when the Hyde amendment was passed in apply just to the labor HHS bill because that's where you fund Medicaid and that's where all of the abortion funding was but as the decades have passed your and they have found ways to to plug abortion funding into other areas of the governmental just give you one example in the in the in the DC budget. We have what's called the Dornan amendment. It's essentially the Hyde amendment for that bill because they've been pushing abortion funding into that portion of the federal budget so your your correct Jordan we have to basically apply the Hyde amendment to a number of bills throughout this process. So now we call them the Hyde family of amendments in Germany, just maybe echo something your dad said just a minute ago. The reason this is become not a consensus issue in Washington DC is because of the leadership in the Democrat party and look Joe Biden was a supporter of the Hyde amendment for decades and decades will why now is his party are not willing to stand with this Jordan is because during the primary process in the last Presidential election. He flip-flopped and he called on the U.S. House, led by Speaker Pelosi to repeal the Heideman and so I look to his leadership inside the party and his flip-flop after 40 years of telling the American people.

He supported this door and I lay the blame at his feet. I really do. This is, I get so it's important to point out to we have it that the sitting President was a supporter of this is now so that I would talk about that shift.

It's happened that that's that's where the significant shift is even cinders.

Even the Joe Biden types who were there, and supportive of these measures who still run on a pro-abortion platform but could but could still say while iced while I believe this I still don't believe the taxpayer should be forced to that's change that's another example, the text what's happened in Texas and how the abortion pro-abortion movement and that the abortion industry has fought back, is trying to fight back with the scare tactics, but they been successful. At least with the Democrat party will be seen as a hardening of both parties. The Republican Party is a very consistent pro-life platform in the Democrat party. With this consistent pro-abortion platform we talk to former Democrats neck enabled her to have the say you basically take any kind of pro-life positions whatsoever.

You're totally isolated.

Although we saw that he remembered what you saw that in the Democratic primaries back. Not that long ago that back last summer and you know if it even when some of the candidates that well on in a late-term abortion. I don't think that's a good thing and all of a sudden the next thing you know the rest of the race. I mean, so this idea that you can get consensus just doesn't exist anymore.

I mean, the fact is this is not a situation where it's consensus consensus would be you would have a situation like this and you would not bond taxpayer money for abortion since that straightforward. It's that simple.

What happens now. Well, what happens now is Joe Biden who was work for three decades at least. Maybe four in favor of the Hyde amendment is now being pushed by the left which is controlling the Democratic Party. You don't used to represent everything you remember this, we represented pro-life Democrats in the House of Representatives. Not long ago been five years ago now. There were pro-life Democrats would be in our briefs on pro-life matters. Not anymore. That doesn't exist anymore.

So you know what we have to do here and I got rewrite. This is a legislative fight. That's why our office in locksmith and heads-up is so critical to this is not going into a courtroom and getting an injunction. This is can you save this legislation and that's where government affairs team comes into play in this broadcast likely to motivate people to help us. Here's the Joe Biden flip on this take ice by 13 if I believe healthcare is a right as I do, I can no longer supporting amendment that makes that right dependent on some of the Medicaid aspect of it is getting applauded from his own people. He made that move again to as you seeking that the Democrat nomination for presidency ran three different times to do that and Changing positions but then most important centeredness.

Surprise, surprise.

Looks like it will be ultimately a Joe mansion who made the right vote. As we said in the in the Langford amendment, but will come under severe significant pressure but also the attentions got to be that the focus is gotta be there for 12 Jordan what a contorted argument from the President of the United States. This is nothing to do with ZIP Code. This has to do with whether or not you take take taxpayer dollars and force them to use them on abortions. But Jordan your correct when this came up for a vote. Just a few weeks ago was an amendment offered by our friend Sen. James Langford to assert the Hyde amendment as part of the Senate budget resolution.

Only one Democrat, and this goes to Jake's point, a pro-life Democrat in Washington DC.

That's almost an extinct thing Jordan, but Sen. Joe mansion did the right thing. He cast a vote in favor of that amendment passed by a single vote and therefore it was attached to the Senate budget resolution but I'm here to tell you Jordan. There may be multiple more times where that vote is gonna have to hold firm but I would say to Sen. Joe mansion as you made the right vote. We need you to make a couple more times right folks that I get released stay on this issue is head of the battle to save the Hyde amendment to make sure it remains thick has starts today as you'll see with the letter that's been released but also the Congress or to speak about it as well. Make sure you're able to activate is welcome Record I was joining us got a new piece of ACLJ.org, next week's hearing with secretary blinking Oscar talk about the citalopram They've announced only one. A society can agree that the most vulnerable invoice is, is there any hope for that culture to survive. And that's exactly what you are saying when you stand with the American Center for Law and Justice, defendant the right to life. We've created a free and powerful publication offering a panoramic view of the ACLJ's battle for the unborn Gold edition life will show you how you are personally pro-life and publication includes a look at all major ACLJ pro-life cases were fighting for the rights of pro-life activists ramifications of Roe V Wade, 40 years later Planned Parenthood's role in the end what Obama care means many ways your membership is empowering the right question free copy of mission in life today online ACLJ/challenges facing Americans for substantial time and are now free to sort constitutional rights are under attack is more important than ever to stay with the American Center for Law and Justice on the frontlines protecting your freedoms defending your rights and courts in Congress and in the public arena and we have an exceptional track record of success. But here's the bottom line we could not do more work without your support, we remain committed to protecting your religious and constitutional freedoms then remains our top priority, especially now during these challenging times.

The American Center for Law and Justice is on your side, you're already a member. Thank you, are not well this is the perfect time to stand with us. ACLJ.org where you can learn more about her life changing become a member today ACLJ back to secular next week, the House foreign affairs committee chaired by Congressman Greg Meeks is a Democrat from New York, 50 Rishel District. He's been outspoken with criticism of some of the Biden administration's moves. I saw a lot of Democrats who were not necessarily walking the line.

Now the big question is what happens when they have the opportunity to question a directly the leaders of the in the executive branch and specifically our Secretary of State secretary blinking record now was joining us now for acting director of national intelligence, investor, Germany, and currently at a senior advisor to ACLJ on foreign policy, national security, Rick, you got a piece up@aclj.org about this hearing and the importance of holding this administration accountable but also getting answers.

I hope that all of our listeners go goes and checks. This piece out ACLJ.R, because what I tried to do is bring up the questions that secretary blinking needs to be asked now we don't know if he will buy. We hope you are well be asked these tough questions. I still want to focus in on the fact that the State Department, which is in charge of protecting Americans overseas laughed 10% of the Americans in Afghanistan and this is the new binding doctrine which is 10% are going to be left behind, and I think it's outrageous and I hope that we have Democrats and Republicans really pushing the secretary on these problems were still in a crisis chart were still the arms and military equipment that was left behind is now in the hands of our enemies. Some reports are showing and it's in Iran. So this is a crisis where American tax dollars have paid for military equipment that's gonna be killing Americans and our allies and we also had the vetting problem we we know that the venting is not going well. People have slipped through that should have been allowed to come into our country and I think the reality is that were cutting corners on the vetting. I certainly have that first hand from my former colleagues in Germany and that's unacceptable. Rick B. Was this all this hope, I guess, and was honestly false. Open and ridiculous really that the Taliban were to somehow install a more moderate government that a government that would be more reflective of progress and and what you God instead is the hardliners of hardliners designated terrorist former Gitmo detainees now running the government and our governments acting like they're shocked about this.

This is some great surprise to them. How did this happen and this goes to the fundamental mistake that was made by the Biden administration in the deployment, the, the exit from Afghanistan because we now put back in place. People that we actually have allowed out of Gitmo as part of a trade okay get that that happens all the time, but these people are now running the government of Afghanistan and the State Department is complaining that there's no women in the cabinet of the Taliban are the what planet are the will. This is the problem of Washington DC as they concentrate on irrelevant issues. We have a government in Afghanistan. It's filled with terrorists and the State Department is looking at the list and saying or why aren't there any females on that will that means we would have female terrorists trying to evaluate the talent that according to how many women are in the cabinet is so far off base. We have incredible problems with the Taliban and not allowing Americans out in the Taliban's actions as terrorist and yet the State Department is looking at these minute issues and holding Afghanistan to some sort of international standard does not exist.

The Taliban is not interested in putting women in their cabinet there interested in being belligerent terrorist and so we we need people in Washington that are gonna focus on the right issues, not on some sort of woke issues that make them happy. Go back to the hearing, Rick. I don't give it all away, so people go to ACL generally and check out the new piece, but some of these questions you talked about the other that the draw down the leaving Americans behind what else I mean this is the opportunity for Democrats because they chair the committee as to the no keep out of control how this goes. I know the Republicans will get their time asked the questions, but it's a time where they have not truly kind of come together and so were used to see the series.

Unfortunately these days are all fighting amongst themselves and the people sitting there trying to answer questions or sometimes get to just talk, but often times it that the findings amongst the part of the partisanship which is on display. It shouldn't be here most of them made the similar comments to the media that was in disagreement with the Biden administration is been a couple weeks but where else should they focus will first of all let's hope that Democrats and Republican members of Congress are focusing on the American people. Americans that were left behind. I don't care if it's the Biden administration and Anthony blinking as a Democrat.

We need to be out of the hold leaders accountable in the fact of the matter is State Department employees. Employees of Anthony blinking were laughed in Afghanistan as we evacuated 2500 US troops and 5000 NATO troops. Let me just remind people that you're State Department employees don't carry guns there diplomats. They're not able to defend themselves when the Taliban come rushing and we've already seen the talent and painting all over with Islamic symbols. The front of the American Embassy that's going to be what we see on the anniversary of 9/11, the American Embassy in Kabul has been overtaken by the talent in the front is been painted in Islamic symbols and Rick. We also got to shift that cabinet again and 9/11. There are members here either were summer from the the Bo Bergdahl trade but but others of you got the Connie that the leader of the Connie network is a 10 million bounty on his head, works closely with Al Qaeda is his nephew is also his nephew. Forget the six they made a high Connie family member who is also linked to Al Qaeda.

Rick, the head of refugees. If that tells Abby if if if they needed anything else to wake them up in Washington DC or in Foggy Bottom.

The fact that a terrorist leader is the head of refugee resettlement that that's that's that's all you need to know kind about what the Taliban is doing. It's really scary that we have found ourselves in the situation. After 20 years, workup, and upon the anniversary and we completely gone backwards in and I would argue it might be worse because now they have a formal government and are seeking recognition from Europeans and others. And we've already seen some talking chatter and in Europe that well this is the government of Afghanistan.

It's the talent answer would have to work with them. Anthony blinking and is with a Foreign Minister Maas in Germany right now is just holding a press conference. He was asked directly, you can deal with the talent man as the legitimate government. He didn't get a clear answer is trying to Bob and weave.

He's trying to have it both ways. I think that's unacceptable he should immediately say absolutely not for not negotiating with terrorists.

Check out Rick's two-piece outfit ACLJ.org Congress must force Sec. blinking to answer for devastating Afghanistan failures, leaving 10% of Americans behind unacceptable. Rick is always, thanks for joining us will be right back.

Second half are secular ACLJ's been on the frontline protecting your freedom is defending your rights in court in Congress and in the public arena. The American Center for Law and Justice is on your side.

If you're already a member. Thank you. If you're not well this is the perfect time to stand with us, ACLJ.org, where you can learn more about our life-changing work, member today ACLJ keeping you informed anything now is Jordan secular back to securing again encouraged to out. That's it. ACLJ.org and again to see how the Democrats conduct themselves next week on these congressional committees as they begin the process of questioning the administration starting off with a sec. blinking out on the the way the withdrawal was done leaving Americans behind the proper the refugee vetting that's occurring in the United States that the announcement of who is inscribing if there even considering dealing with the Taliban.

Let's talk about you know, and we are to talk about in the final site of the broadcast.

They Rick talk about go through that cabinet, they announced one by one these individuals so you know who is now in charge of Afghanistan and their other countries that were before the United States will start recognizing discover they have no probably don't care about the human rights violations. They don't care about the terrorism that's that's been targeted the United States.

They care about making money inroads in power and so they they are not good at blinking. I at dad's endorsing resort, recognizing this kind of government, and I think the fact that it's happening. The symbolism is very important to the Taliban so 20 years very short time for their their wars very short time for them. Historically we were talking about a lot of the same God time at the ones who did survive the war with United States economy is nephew also another Connie who ran the Connie network which is the Taliban's connection to Al Qaeda and their terrorism at the sewer to get into that. This also I just I think just it's it's a ACLJ specific everyday because we fought so hard against radical Islam and and these groups behind it. We we fought for the high demand for life.

Another issue really get into a next segment with Walter Weber that is yet another school choice case. This is something that it resonates. I think once again with everybody with which is been out. I don't think it matters where you are the country. It's been a pretty rocky back to school not not necessarily any of the school sponsors try to deal with what they are dealing with cutover the pandemic and another school choice case that up at the Supreme Court at I guess the Espinoza case will talk about with Walter, which gutted most of those amendments that state constitutions had about funding of religious activities that was really anti-catholic amendments, but that obviously didn't know enough, the courts decide to hear another case know that's exactly right. Look, this is an issue that we have been litigating like I had a case involving this base funding back all in the diving with the early 2000. Maybe the late 90s and the fact is that school choice is becoming not only more normative but essential me liquid as you said the back-to-school has been a very rough start, let's be clear, this is been a rough start to back-to-school for a lot of kids and I hate that for the kids. I hate that migrated they'll go for a day or two in the schools are closed down again and head to semester, you gotta be creative and educators had to be creative and dance at the be creative, to see what impact is going to be options in school choice should be one of those opposite the fact that were having to litigate this in 2021 is ridiculous. But here we are now. I am optimistic we'll talk Walter about our brief in a moment. I will say this, we were just talking about Afghanistan and the international issues and the ACLJ is front and center on those without talking about a domestic issue. School choice in the ACLJ is front and center on those we talked about the Hyde amendment. The first segment in the ACLJ1 center on that issue were to be handling a very big abortion related case that will not announce quite yet but we will shortly. It's a use case that's going to be a circuit Court of Appeals, and it is a lot going on could well go to the Supreme Court. The fact is that were front and center on these cases because of your support of the ACLJ and I want to again thank you for matching challenge July and August were just exceptional. Thank you from all of us at the ACLJ-shall be right back with Walter Weber, Harry Hutchison will also be joining us as we talk about school choice where there's a lot of their seat states try to hinder this by the laws are passed to open up choice to parents where they can choose whatever school they want religious secular private public right back with Walter wises back of the supreme victory in 2020, the challenges facing Americans are substantial time and or value freedom sword constitutional rights are under attack more important than ever to stay with the American Center for Law and Justice for decades. ACLJ is going on the frontline protecting your freedoms defending your rights and courts in Congress and in the public arena and we have an exceptional track record of success. But here's the bottom line we could not do our work without your support, we remain committed to protecting your religious and constitutional freedoms. The event remains our top priority, especially now during these challenging times. The American Center for Law and Justice is on your side, you're already a member. Thank you, are not well this is the perfect time to stand with us ACLJ.org where you can learn more about her life changing become a member today ACLJ only one. A society can agree that the most vulnerable invoice.

Is there any hope for that culture to survive.

And that's exactly what you are saying when you stand with the American Center for Law and Justice, defendant the right to life, we've created a free powerful publication offering a panoramic view of the ACLJ's battle for the unborn Gold edition life will show you how you are personally support publication includes a look at all major ACLJ pro-life cases were fighting for the rights of pro-life activists. The ramifications of Roe V Wade, 40 years later Planned Parenthood's role in the Obama care means to discover the many ways your membership's eulogy is empowering the right question free copy of mission in life today online ACLJ/secular school choice.

Back at the supreme once again, this is our brief holy might I hands right now. This case is out of me Walter Weber's your accounts with ACLJ is joining us now. Walter, my first question for you.

Just before you get into the factual beetle might be the reason why is it, it seemed like we came to school choice and religious schools and parents having the opportunity to just make the decision on their own that the Supreme Court answered that in the case are the Espinoza case out of Montana. These he states that have these amendments, which really anti-catholic amendments but were broader than that at the time so it didn't look that way on paper. The blame to members think the court got it in 2020. So why are we back at the Supreme Court again on this question to be recalcitrance or resistance in the lower court entirely the fault of lower courts keep minded the Supreme Court for number of years mainly in the 70s and sometime after that was a very strict about things you can't have any government funds going to the teaching of religion and its frequent since that clarified that school choice is fine. Back then, only to find that in some circumstances at the constitutional right. You can't penalize people parents in particular because they choose a religious education for their children. So there's a little lingering tension between the idea that you have to keep all federal or state money away from religious schools versus thing in the school choice programs only treat everyone equally. The issue here. It's specific to this is that a main and we learn about this and in Maine specific and some of the facts specific to their rural areas where there might not be public schools nearby so that become difficult.

So maybe next. This program was. It was at the state or was it that was at the courts that prevented the parents from utilizing these vouchers to go to religious schools if they chose it was what I was born in Maine. There a lot of rural areas with agent don't have a public high school back. I think it's about 50%. Maybe more than 50% of the cortical school units in the state do not have public high school with the state did with legislature of the said all right if you don't have a public high school.

You can pay the parents. The tuition up with certain To any school they want to go to private or public, and in fact, parents use that to go to both private secular and private religious schools until the state in response to an attorney. State Atty. Gen. opinion decided that it was an establishment problem for them to pay the tuition for parents and religious schools, and so they did.

They adopted a new law saying you can send your kids to any school you want and will pay for except not at school that quote unquote promotes faith or belief system with which it is associated and will present the material taught through the lens of the space so you can send your kids the religious school doesn't teach religion which is a the problem. I think about the cases that we've handled over the so many years of the Supreme Court dealing with the religion clauses the establishment clause. The one thing that we've been able to establish with the case we mantle in the presence we've handled is that in fact the establishment clause doesn't license government importing from one of our opinions are based thousand clause doesn't license government to treat religious people religious practices is that their subversive to the Constitution and subject to unique disabilities. Yet that's precisely what is happening agree with the will of the lower courts are at been in conflict because the Supreme Court itself is been in conflict and they had this in a very strict interpretation of church state separation for a long time that is changed now. What you feel like the outcome of this case is the debate broader optimistic about the record said Lutheran Church Espinoza most recent cases on the question that targeting religious entities or persons for second-class status is unconstitutional and that of the state can include the state cannot exclude them just because of who they are. Now what maintenance done in this case is trying to thread the needle and say well all right were not excluding logistical because the religious were excluding them when they teach religion.

If there's a difference between being a religious school and teaching religion. We talked with this this issue of education is a civil rights issue.

That's why we support.

Probably the school school choice efforts of the fights, the hurdles that come in the way like vultures have this ridiculousness of pain right now. You can use it a religious school, not an actual religious school if they have any kind of real religious training in the school day enemy. Some some schools that would be very difficult to separate a history class out from other classes. It's just because it be part of the culture of the school which the parents would know and they would be making the decision to get the even when they want. It's like even when they want to give these opportunities they can't quite get over the hurdle of saying it's it's okay to send your kid where you think is best and take out all the other issues to me. That just seems what ultimately what's fair, I think your precisely correct and so in the Zalman Simmons case, which was decided almost 2 decades ago and involved a schools system in Cleveland designed to advance the interests of African-American and minority kids, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the parents. It said that choice follows the poor that she's me the money follows the parents choice and that is enough to satisfy the religion clauses. Today we live in a very vexed time people continuously talk about inclusion they talk about diversity except they don't want diversity when it comes to parents who want to place their kids in religious schools, and so I think we need to be very, very aggressive, very very vigilant because of the end of the day.

We live in a time of real particularities where religion is under attack, but first and foremost it's under attack in universities and colleges. And then this part percolates into state legislatures and they are then misreading in my view, the United States Constitution, for I was to say something here and that is that the and I think this is all about what Harry and Walter have said the fact of the matter is I think we have to be clear on this is that there has been with changes in the Supreme Court. I think a clear understanding of what the establishment clauses in the free exercise clause means actually free speech clause to a lack of one of the things I want to get your insight on you got whipped with just a score search Garrett and Cavanaugh added to the court with my sense is that the main case should not really be that you never count counted over until it's done. But it should not be a difficult case for them. In light of where their own jurisprudence has been even while they were on the lower courts right and in fact this should be a lopsided decision amulet.

The court, the court that they will not following our previous precedents that say you can't treat religious people in Buddhist choices is somehow second-class. The idea that there is a difference between excluding religious schools excluding school to teach religion is just a commander that is specific thing where I asked making a law against evangelists are only people who preach the gospel right and it's the same thing.

So I think it I think the speaker should not have any problem seeing that the problem here. The fact that the lower courts may think that there was a little room left probably reflect the fact that the Supreme Court will decide the case in front of it and not future hypothetical cases. Now that the First Circuit dared them to disable that there that will lead to school to school to teach religion are the same thing. I would hope to recruit think they are. This this would this case. If we filing today. This victory here it's clear like you said the answer this question, it seems absurd within the answer. So it's clear please lower courts. This is been a fundamental shift at the Supreme Court level which would open the door to more states be more creative with their with their voucher programs in the school choice programs that would solve a lot of problems here, decades away from competing about evolution and creation to sex education to the critical race theory forever. We have been facing the problem of political disputes in public schools and just let the parents pick where they want to send their kids. Most of these problems would go away because then people wouldn't feel they have to pay for something and waited at the same time studies out there actually increases the public schools get better increases just everybody has to compete more teachers unions may not like that, but ultimately makes a better environment wherever it whatever you decide is best for your student whatever school is best but again it gives the parents the opportunity and I think it just speaks to the time we live in. I went to the issues Walter and then on top of that a pandemic where I some people are just strap it out that the options are not good and and they are looking for. Maybe the private school that I could use the voucher for is doing something more creative. That would be better for my student was better for my kid because of what the public schools try to do to deal with and could be simple as that is what you better and that's what it did a great job on the right side of the site, you did a great job in leading a team in the last pandemic we helped thousands of families we need to do that again. We will get this right people needed assistance needed help with programs at school. Being able to find another school. I was ACLJ that don't help/help assist over 1500 families.

We can do so again. I know this will your offer another rocky start. Once again, will be right back. Only when a society can agree that the most vulnerable invoice is, is there any hope for that culture to survive.

ACLJ.org where you can learn more about her life changing become a member today ACLJ serve the Hyde amendment making sure during this month budget in place where it needs to be, so there's no taxpayer dollars going to pay for abortion procedures. I specifically that's been the places 1976, but it is becoming more and more of a battle every year. Dental vote in the US and single vote.

Single center will determine whether or not likely that the Hyde amendment is included to report to prevent your your taxpayer dollars, your taxes that you pay us from going to fund actual abortion procedures. That's what this is about. So we talked about that we talked about with Rick date next week. The questioning of Tony blinking school choice case we just filed in a today at the US Supreme Court as we start to see major progress.

There at the court level which will then open it up to states to feel more comfortable being more creative with their voucher programs, but finally I want this middle time we talk about Rick for a moment on the spinal segment about this Taliban cabinet any debt, it's a who's who at four of the five were at Gitmo. They were traded for Bo Bergdahl who it was, at best, as we been called a deserter at worst was a traitor but yet we still didn't leave him behind. Though we've left people behind that with these guys so therefore there that we came right at Gitmo, but there's some that are even worse are the nephew of the leader of the County network. He is he is got a $5 million US bounty on his head $5 million. If you kill them and bring them to the US or if you capture he is now that he was the connection between really the Taliban and Al Qaeda is his by the way his his uncle, who is the founder of the saccadic network.

He's also A position he's the head of the interior minister. He got a 10 million about dollar that he has had and he's on the FBI's most wanted list back to Khalil the County. He's the acting minister for refugees. So the question that would be his if you got people who are stuck there Americans but also the special visa hold that immigrant visa holders. The SIV's that the ark continually talked about how we could be negotiating with him list of the courses of the whole palisade the whole law-abiding failure look who's in charge Gitmo as I said earlier, number one, number two, I would like to be in. This is horrible to have to contemplate. I would like to be the people trying to get out right now putting the Americans but also the SIV holders, knowing that the borders in your control of access in and out of the country is controlled by the most harshest of the leadership of the Taliban. The worst of the worst and we should not act like were surprised that this is the case.

I mean, I know that Col. Smith is is with us to and I would just ask him to look at that list. Col. Smith and you save yourself. What in the world are they thinking you absolutely this is so odd and so ironic. The present Obama traded Bo Bergdahl for the release of five Gitmo prisoners and the reason given at the time it is. Jordan mentioned was that we don't leave Americans behind the enemy. Even though Bergdahl in my opinion wasn't absolutely a deserter but we we traded because we don't leave Americans behind it. Right now the Biden administration, which is really the same people that were in the Obama administration there perfectly willing to leave hundreds of American citizens and thousands of our Afghan allies by including leaving them behind with for the Taliban leaders that we release from prison in a way J the administration is indirectly responsible may be directly responsible for who is leading the Taliban in Afghanistan today because four of the key people leaving that government we release them from prison.

Even though we knew that they were terrorist and they had a broken blood on their hands it, it's really unthinkable and you have to ask, what is change. The Taliban has not changed. They hit they have not, what changes who's in the White House who's in the State Department and the senior leadership of the Pentagon, and I hold those three US government entities responsible for this gap because that's what is changed. The I know Art Deco at that say Jordan Fox and volume of said earlier and that is the withdrawal without conditions is a dangerous thing in the accompanist race and had withdrawal with conditions as I was assuming the Afghan government was real stand. Stand up and withdraw all that with no conditions is led to a situation were terrorist but we held captive are now not only back room to be fair with all be back in circulation more than back in circulation bareback running the government. So they are way behind in circulation. They are running the show in Afghanistan, the case they got bounties on their head. They know that yet they're accepting these positions to send that statement to the world.

One of that the acting prime minister Mohammed a Kuhn has UN sanctions which should show it should be itching to see then he's got these countries at the international level who might be willing to likely are willing to recognize the Taliban government with the you would get a deal with a Pilates and have the US US bounties or sanctions on them or on the FBI's was when list there also sanctioned by the UN.

Absolutely this is a problem Biden administration has pledged to leave no one behind unless it is politically expedient. Withdrawal without conditions are horrible or is horrible but what we have done is terrifying.

We have simply surrendered. We have empowered the terrorists and they could strike at any time in both the homeland or throughout the world and we have now given them a government and we simply refuse to worry about the Americans who were left behind. So what we have in Washington is simply a collapse of something called integrity.

The Biden administration has zero integrity.

The reality is that they they blame the former Afghan prime minister present for fleeing. He put out a letter today. Wes's explaining that he inherited a mess of catastrophic proportions that he could not deal with it. No government could deal with now he's gone were blaming him, but we've now got the Taliban putting in place with her calling an interim government and interim. It's a who's who of the of the Taliban's worst and all of this happened all of this was avoidable Jordan. It was preventable under the truck administration of the Taliban. We were going withdrawal with conditions on the ground under the Biden administration. They took the entire country. The Taliban did without consequences. The Taliban knew they could take each provincial capital ultimately detectable in the Biden administration would do nothing.

They were banking on that they bet on it and they were right, what the buy demonstration is done is their projected weakness. There's a big difference between having military power which we have in the enemy perceiving that we will actually use it. We allowed the telegram.

We allow the Taliban to take the whole country present Gandhi. He's not a great patriot either but he left because we withdrew air support and we were withdrawing our troops and he knew the end was coming. Know what I think the fight as we approach that the 9/11 anniversary. We Artie see the Taliban right to painting over our embassy. As Rick was talking about, but any very well may be at eight and that because of their policy decisions.

They got a celebration going on this weekend in Afghanistan when it comes to the Taliban. Not only are they coming out of their caves that their top guys because you state there be like one photo half their face is all people had another coming out as leaders of government 20th date of 20 years later, is that it best abatement. They left the cave. They don't have to stay in the caves. They are now running the government out in the open and with the sanction of the rest of. I hate to say this with the United States, allowing it to happen. And that's exactly and precisely whatever. So will see in the days ahead. And as Col. Smith said we we should not be kidding ourselves. This is very serious and you know I I just pray that we get the B+ amount working on as hard as we can.

I really do believe truth is hearing next week after the anniversary see their reaction to our embassy. What they try to play statesmen or do they act like they've who they really are. So far they've been acting like they've who they really are not. Let the planes leave not letting people with the visas leave putting the head refugees 5% for decades ACLJ been on the frontlines protecting your freedom is defending your rights in court in Congress and in the public arena.
