The Doolittle Raid was a surprise attack on Tokyo by 16 B-25 bombers led by Lieutenant Commander James Doolittle in April 1942, following the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. The raid was a success, but the planes had to land in China, and some crew members were captured or executed by the Japanese.
