Sit back and enjoy it, share it, most of all, thank you for listening and choosing The Truth Podcast Network. This is the Truth Network get ready. It's one of America's most important, influential and respected voices on cultural and political issues and apologist Christian political advocate and author.

Here is the founder and chairman of the America foundation, Dr. Chris, welcome back to the Christian perspective. I'm so excited on Friday the Friday that always get have time with Connie ours and we talk about family issues, but walking near the Christian perspective today.

You know, this is where we looking God's word in order to develop a Christian worldview in modern culture, and I'm just so thankful for the citizens for America foundation, who brings us to show each weekend for Mid-America Baptist theological seminary where we broadcast from just giving us great studio to work out heaven just unthankful today Connie. I'm excited.

I always look forward to Fridays. Connie because I get to learn about family issues and there's nobody who knows more than you about family issues. I'm always delighted to find Internet and then Monday through Thursday as well share their equally important in helping parents and helping family really our country as we point people to the Lord as they navigate all the seasons of their lives, not just parenting and family cell is really exciting was that God was in the shadows over the other four days a week everybody listen to me right rave about politics and what culture and all the crazy things that I get worked up about think it's kind of good how God just gave us this time. On Fridays, as people are winding down from their work. We can again ready go home and spend a couple of days with their families and were we can look in God's word and listen to some of the Satan and sound advice and wisdom that you have to share with us in and really take the time to to concentrate our family that I know when our kids were growing up weekends you think with you. We kids are probably special for everybody because are not at work. Hopefully as much, but I know we always try to make weekends a big deal with our family. I think I mentioned with you on the show before that Friday nights we would usually have pizza night. Try to create some traditions which I think are important. May we do a show on that sometime. I think there's a lot of it's important to have traditions in your family and in our kids always look forward Friday night because we would have pizza night and then then we would have what I call pajama party night where they could sit in bed with me for a while and and and Vicki and in and we would watch movies together and I'm just going to rabbit trails here Connie, with which company will talk about today but somehow throw a curveball jumping to ask you did your family ever go camping die getaway time and on it crap he'd heard me talk about community.

Like other people and wanted to get that 20 year 8 to 10 family and don't go camping together into the kids could be ran around with their hands and back about players are kids from church and appearance and sit around and talk so wonderful time that 20 year we would go camping not even now we just meet local people are busy. Turned out to be some of our Fondest memory I agree Connie, I don't know if you still live but there was a great Christian. Yes, he was like a family therapist. His name is Dr. Gary Smalley. You probably mid and read some of his words, you don't talk about Dr. Smalling and Dr. Smalling, one of his books, just as our kids were about town they were born. I saw several conferences and started reading some of his books and he talks about a lot about how faint our families should go camping and what really took it out rabbit trail euros are going with your subject memories work for minute in the dark. What we need to talk about but Dr. Smalley says that family should go camping because there's always a disaster and it's a problem when it happens, then you by your family going through these situations.

It brings everybody closer together and then it gives you with a groan he gives all these great memories that they have to look back on and so on. This year, to things that happen I will sure all the different camping trips we used to love to go camping in his heart nailed with the kids grown Jo to get them. I'm praying that when they have their children one day that will will be able to carve out time to camp again course of the older I get this to be harder sleeping on the ground.

Connie we used to live in Hawaii share with you. Vicki was in the in the military and and we were stationed in Hawaii for a while and there are some beautiful campgrounds in the military actually had this wonderful campground called bellows on the water and it's it is actually the area where attack on Pearl Harbor taking place that morning the radio signalman who heard the planes coming was at this used to be an airfield called bellows airfield and he heard Wayne's coming, but they were expecting planes and getting off on history really rabbit trails a day. They were expecting planes coming in from the mainland from California so he didn't think anything of it when he heard planes on his near they don't have the radars and that kind of thing like we have today. He just heard these noises and he was expecting planes in California, so he didn't call anybody. It was actually the Japanese coming to attack Pearl Harbor.

But anyway where that happened is now like a military campground Hawaii. So one. One year we were going to go camping and I ordered this 10 that I got I think I got from Sam's Club where I got this really big 10, so let me just give some and asked for advice for euros your listing yes you need to go camping.

But here's the advice put up the tent before you go camping so you know what you're doing so and particularly no I don't put it up for the first time in the dark. If you are an idiot like me and don't know I'm not mechanical or don't have my son's study and be aerospace engineer and my dad's engineering and build bridges and stuff like that. I did not get that Jean so this particular time we had this new tent we been working at this you get the kids excited were going camping and they would sit by fire and have s'mores all this stuff will Connie. We drive across out of why over the mountain ridge to the other side of the island this bellows place and and it is pouring down rain and and I'm blind of the dark. Anyway, there are no lights because your eye campground is not like KOA okay it's a remote campsite and is pouring down rain and we tried for an hour and 1/2 to that tenant may because we couldn't find the polls told us we got all is staked out on the on the sides and is pouring down rain and I gotta tell you, this preacher was not very godly at that moment, I just got madder and madder and madder in Vicki's get tired of hearing me mad. The kids are sick because of the writing in Golden, and we get in the car so I've had it would take everything apart, put it back in the in the vehicle. Get ready to leave and get the car in turn start the engine and I look across the hood of the truck and right. There are all those holes and looked for an hour and 1/2 sitting on the hood of the car so yeah we we go through it again. We put the 10 open so the next morning I had on flip-flops again. So this is more advice. Don't cook breakfast in flip-flops and had a cast iron skillet fire and I'm trying to show off the kids on the blue room in a good breakfast over the fire not to use your with the gas cooker anything like that and I got big old frying pan.

Slam full of bacon and the greases it was cheap bacon, so there's lots agree.

She knows not rolling in and I get up to move and I kicked by mistake that frying pan and all that grease from that bacon landed on my foot and immediately. Okay so this is gonna grow some people out you know you have straps on the top of the flip-flop. My foot immediately blistered and the blisters cover the strep circuit flip-flops off and it was so it was just terrible. Now my son immediately was always pointing out God's will know that basically informs me. What was he maybe it's maybe six or seven years old tell me that you guys punish me for getting so mad. The ninth but anyway I me at the time, none of that was funny. I we ended up having a great weekend.

Even though I was limping around really four weeks later, but the kids look back on that now probably accurately measure the story but that something always, it is usually in our family. I'm the one that things usually happen to so the kids love to laugh about it now, but I really encourage people to go camping.

I have no idea how got all matter was started talking about that, but I guess going into the weekend and in the spring will be here soon.

I would encourage people to take their families camping right here. However great story and a perfect segue and keep talking about family like a family name.

Actually what we had talked about today on our gather in building family legacy which is so non-Marine net, which is on even being that forgiving one another and also confessing when we get when we humans are cool, which are not perfect that's going to happen. So I'm glad that you shared that Lori might I add a lot that we certainly had a couple broken down here in Aaron we need only, which is what we had shenanigans that happen and there. There's downpours represent a sleeping bag and that's get get stoked and you stand Your day at a laundromat and or if you're near line now. The memory maker when we think about building a family legacy key part that it know what God has for our family. Knowing what God has for our family, not godly generation and there is creating a moment like that you're sitting around thinking. I kicked the frying and everybody laughed at your expense. So, building family legacy Summit 20 camping and QR are shown today yet is is going to be so will save or take a commercial break and they were going to jump in and so I will encourage other people to if you're listening to develop traditions and fun things that you do so you really can have a legacy of your family so you know you listing the Christian perspective, Connie Albers and I are here today it's family Friday and were just today were just gonna cut have fun and and talk about legacy and we come back from the commercial break. I want to share a little story about my father, Connie, honor him for a minute. His legacy and then I can't wait because I know you're writing a book and this is a big part of what you talk to folks the ground will be right back where the Christian perspective is best.

This show is brought to you by generous jokes coffee company with the Christian perspective, this is the answer that Christians and conservatives have been looking for a coffee company that gives back to causes you care about. Order your copy today at shop generous Joe's.and even subscribe to a subscription coffee plan and never forget you or causes you care about blocking the Bible come to life and I joined nationally for radio foundation to create the world from all over the world to explore Christianity's most tragic raw winding alleyways to Nancy so place that I see firsthand what the Bible took Tory Dr. Chris travel on foundation.com time creating and sharing his joint American our institutions of freedom will not survive unless they are constantly replenished by the faith that gave them birth stated Secretary of State John Foster Dulles was born this day February 25, 1888 graduate of Princeton helped negotiate the peace treaty with Japan after World War II and served as US ambassador to the UN John Phillips remarked man has his origins and destiny in God, how institutions reflect the belief that all men were endowed by their Creator with rights to help develop their God-given transcript: 1888 USA were welcome back the Christian perspective Connie Albers are so excited that you're here with us today every Friday. You just need to market elders family Fridays and we talk about issues that pertain to the family and today were were talking about legacies of families and is so important for us to build a legacy for our children and grandchildren. If you look in the Bible is really something that is biblical all throughout the Bible and trickling the Old Testament there is example after example of people who did leave a legacy and how God instructed them to leave a legacy Connie, this is kinda timely for me out. I'm sure with you little bit more, not on air. My father although I believe it when I see it, just recently retired and it was a time for me to kinda reflect on his life and the legacy that he is left my father is in ring construction Co. so he feels like bridges. For example, the bridge in Charleston.

He was part of that giant bridge in Charleston and in some bridges around the world and all on a cruise ship peers around the world and and for a while did a lot of work with the Navy.

In fact, in was when I was in college he we were in Charleston South Carolina at that time and he built the first what they called double-decker peer for the United States Navy, which was kind of innovative thing for for them because then they could unload and load stuff not just offer one level, but two levels at one time and make some of the work that they were doing at the time much more efficient.

So because of that we moved Connie all over the world.

So I think by the time I got married and moved more than 40 times. I went to four different high schools. Now we the longest week ever lived anywhere when I was growing up was 2 1/2 years and then I got married and encourage my wife to join the military war that wasn't smart. They can sell you with with Vicki. She was mean. Sometimes we moved as soon as 10 months. The longest week ever lived anywhere and I think the Lord for this was a good one. Usually we we never lived anywhere longer than two and half years, but when Vicki was stationed why we were actually there three years, so we had to suffer for Jesus in Hawaii Connie for three years. I but anyway so my dad recently retired and and I was just thinking about the legacy that he's left a mean one, there's a legacy in the unity built these big bridges and cruise ship terminals and stuff that many people driven across the net did know he had anything to do with it but you for 40 or 50 years after he's dead.

That will still be there is a monument of something he did, but really the legacy that we as parents can live leave for our kids is so important and I know that's what you wanted to talk a little bit about today is house and how important it is for us to build and leave a legacy within our family trail (that we are leading alike trying to model and godly behavior were intentionally trying to our children right behind what we find happening it or focusing on outward behavior. Maybe our children about building family legacy division. I want parent is legacy tending to their child heart. Often times were looking at the behavior and WE tend to look at internal and external behavior because looking at the heart and part of building family need that the legacy piece that you said when your father is gone. You know what what will be said about him. He built bridges nominal.

He felt peers that there is more than not he modeled publicly, often working back and characteristics and character trait that you will you have emulated and even now passed on to your children, your children and God willing they'll continue that cycle hard as I Callie, I highly father imperfectly, you know, basically. Our children imperfectly because we are imperfect and why should we expect anything else, I chuckled.

I mean our model from the get-go had now non-perfect moment and then that cause a ripple effect throughout all creation and when we when I talk often about building family legacy important about not overlooking a small thing that we get our kids. I roll the crocked arms that forgetting to turn the device is all are your kids saying something and you you look at them because they're not really honoring or respecting the position that God has for you about our family's legacy and name something about the name of Jesus.

There is power in that name.

And when we think about building a family like the legacy we want the understand and comprehend that line our children now just like within your family. Even now you lie you a lot harder sense of belonging. I belong here on her desk by nine God placed your two precious children in your family in the order that they were placed in your family as my Reason one place in the first edition efficient being number five in our family and part of when we build family legacy. Chris is making sure we explained it intentionality. Guess what you showed up as number one or number two, number five child birth order was intentional about keeping outline placing your children within your family.

God saw for you and Vicki and Tom and I have the children that we have an order that we have to have a purpose that they belong in our family first found in Christ within the family unit. Families are struggling with their struggling with it now because I don't understand and value. Many important that great family have a legacy not just that power position each relationship close relationship of understanding and the ability to communicate with client yeah it really does Connie now sit here trying to think of the importance that drilling well beyond our lifetimes. Connie the legacy that you and Tom have with your children. The things that you have taught your children and taught them to love the Lord and the same with Vicki and me and our kids. That legacy is not just to our immediate family and I think we don't think about that as parents and there are listeners that are listening really the things that you do today matter. I like to tell people sometimes when I go's speak different places that every action you take every decision you make matters and it matters to the legacy that we leave for our family for generations to come. Remind me of something I often share that God not see our flaws and fear are obedient willing to trust him and shepherding and parenting and teaching and training our children were only know how to do that and always heart great role models in our parents are probably half of the listeners don't want to repeat their childhood. They did not like to state that with either exemplary and the location and profession accomplishment, or in character stated that in many of you that are listening to the program your chart you're starting from scratch and you're trying to figure out on Highway, model to young to go by, you do and God's word and he cannot work is blueprint and we just need a little help understanding how to apply that guide teachers because we know that Congress has on your father and mother that it may be well with you and your like great time. I've told my children not held on blue in the face, and I still get disrespected or the guarantor, not understanding how do I demand honor well and honor, and you can't command respect is earned is something the child has to understand that God commands than they have ever ability as being a member of our family there because of the weight without them without their present in our family, our family wouldn't be what it is like you talking about your sign aeronautical engineer and he brings what you don't have that ability to be here at the structural engineering component and yet you have a component. I don't know that your sonnets are kicking like that you hear about the very good at kicking and in communicating and communicating God's word.

Yet such a passion for God's word and for our country and our kids need to understand that vital role that they play and what becomes our family name. This is really powerful on your thinking about when you're talking about a few minutes ago. How we need to have a model once Connie sometimes that is so difficult I think for some parents to deal with because we live in a society where there's a huge divorce rate and maybe families were separated or they didn't have a father or mother. Whatever the case may be, and they sometimes don't know how to model that which you brought out a great point and that are true model is not the imperfect imperfect humans in our M perfect parents, but the true model is Jesus Christ and grunt God created the family in the Bible and he gives us the example of the perfect model that he had in mind. And that's all throughout God's word and if we look at what's got what God's word tells us in the legacy that it leaves then we can find the perfect model of what God intended for us to have. You know as Christians and in as those as followers of Jesus Christ we have take a break here but in just a minute were to continue our conversation.

Connie and I are talking about legacies within families and the portents of of leaving a legacy to our children and grandchildren really setting an example with our own families so we encourage you stick around or take a quick commercial break and come back talk about how you can model family, children and spouse to write strong don't know really important role God in the Bible is Dr. Deming.

Much of America's health of all the government and the men who helped forge the new kind of Republic knowledge, the creator of the truth about the creation this show is brought to you by generous Joe's coffee company with the Christian perspective, this is the answer that Christians and conservatives have been looking for a coffee company that gives back causes you care about.

What about the Christian perspective it's family Friday and Connie and Albers Connie Albers are talking about leaving a legacy for our families and how is important for us to model for famous war trauma right before he took the commercial break and thought you were stepping on my toes so I was thinking about how I've not always been the model that I needed to be for my family and work were all imperfect and we do things differently when I was younger. Connie and hopefully you'll ever see this. II had sometimes people might say a bad temper. I had high expectations for people at high goals and like you expected more than I should.

From people.

Sometimes I would become frustrated when when those things didn't come about and I wasn't leaving a good legacy and I wasn't being a good example think the Lord Vicki and I went happy about the time but God knew what he was doing.

We were married for 15 years and thought that we could not have children and then finally something magic happen. 15 years into the marriage and and I we had our daughter and then couple years later had our son, but I came to the point where I realized that I was not leaving a legacy. I needed to leave and not modeling what a godly man and godly husband should be and I had to make a conscious decision that I was just gonna fly off the handle and get mad all the time. Jeff or maybe Connie.

The camping trip in the rain will slip out, but I realize that our children watch us. Connie all the time and you know they look at what we do as parents and how we even if they never say anything there watching, and they see how we react to different situations and and you know I can't tell my son have anger issues. If he sees me being angry all the time so we have to make a conscious decision to model what God is called us to model and you know our actions are a choice and I would just challenge her parents today that you you need to model what God would have you model is a husband or wife, a father or mother, whatever it may be and really not just to to our kids.

What we been talk about your kids, Connie, but really for our spouse as well.

You shared that childhood. I my family very broken family with lots that, and when I grew up. I just knew what I didn't want I didn't have a model of what how to build a family look like and I just knew what I saw with 180 of what I want you as you mentioned you being raised divorce are broken. How I raise my hand. That led me to a T.

I actually I didn't desire to get married. I would carry a career minded focused on and I was going to conquer the world, probably in my ear bucket doesn't it's not in my year but probably my most likely to become or to BC ELS something because my mother grade to be very independent and not interdependent at all be independent. Take care of yourself, the world is not to get you the mindset that I was raised with no we have been married for 37 years had to eat out walk with me and God was transforming me into becoming the one he wanted to be as parents. I really want you to hear your your legacy doesn't have to be something you think you stick from your parents be starting from scratch. God is helping you. You surrender to you when you get tired to speak and become at that man or woman of God at mom and dad want to change maybe your family like maybe that's not what you want you want something new, things Chris that I know parent need to know because the picture can become blurry were imperfect and I think it's quite ironic. I take) and imperfect kit anything now you can bring glory to me. Thank you going to do that like I don't know how that whole thing played out the you can need to remember a couple things to be in sync with your kids. They're not going to agree with you and going to agree to agree with them. Ali normal to experience difficulty.

It could be waiting. It could be the trial it could be that every time it can be seen in rebellion that it is normal and mostly because your ranking being full body mind will occur for you all have hopes and dreams for your child even hopes and dreams for your family can become blurry when we stop and we asked the Lord to reveal the area and correct them insight into what going on in our child's heart. Like I mentioned in the first segment going on in your child's heart. No, what you don't know ear and you can't help you be humble enough to get me desiring to be the best mom and I know I don't get it right there a way can you can you tell me what am I doing that kind of irritates you, and I'll be quick to tell you if I asked my kids would do well. I now hearing about all that they will. People often you know about Mike. Mike sent my shortfalls. I just care about my mom and in the goal is to let people know there is not perfect it's not done perfectly, that when you and tell thing to give the Lord, because God is in the business of changing we can change our children and our children can't change that. I know the one that got to like him down sometimes. You know it's our kids, just wanting freedom. After getting older and our society as we know the dangers and we know drugs are on every corner there slipping and through social media at Chris we should do a segment on technology. One time, one week just on helping parents with the navigation teaming technology that you know are our kids are faced with insurmountable temptations and obstacles and NDN. Me and friends whispering in your ear and honestly Chris there. Layton attacks on the authority mom and dad and when I can't understand God established in that got place and within the family unit on purpose with a purpose, by design, and Netgear needed within the family and without their support without their participation without being too family and just taking a call and me being entitled to something along when they start to think that we are a family and our family is going to do life together get back a grade if they can spell that you know that can't fail years on the burnt dinners the miscommunication the accusation that when I can start to see that mom and dad left me no matter what. That's a reflection of the Lord, letting our kids are able to come to laugh and say you now I know I had a really bad attitude and I taking it out on you and I'm purposely fighting against you and everything and they know that hey, we're doing together.

You know where if I got a raft on a light water bath that were getting bounced around all different direction and on their way.

What we teach our children. Chris kids are being taught to set by culture, and likely will, I believe churches mom and dad mom and dad and I am just not exact placement position authority because God has placed me there. I watch over and protect my kids door to the house locked from the inside, not to keep people and not as a prison day on trying to contain our family, but to protect them from an shooters coming in and welcome as they get older you welcome to leave that door doesn't walk from it.

Door is not double bowl ticket from the inside but we want to do life together and it requires a normal communication skills requires humility and thought and action in word and deed, and it requires to know are in our case that people with unique personality and temperament. Henson interests it requires understanding one another and meeting them where they are and parenting the child. We have not apparently wish we had that parent on social media that the predicate just look at the parent the children that we enter our children understanding. Hey listen, you didn't get to pick and we get to pick you God. With each show she had to be going and God has blessed us with you and were going to be the best parents we can be and were going to parent you the best that we can because we have a goal to accomplish or something were aiming this year you're preaching to me of taking notes as you talk This is so good, so y'all this is why you need to list the family Fridays. Connie Albers just has a wealth of information the day were talking about legacy and and I love Connie.

How you talk about doing life as a family and and how we have to navigate those communication skills and humility in the interest of each member of that family.

But God put us there together and I don't think we always calm down, we get worked up realize that God created this family unit for a reason.)

Order your copy today at shop generous Joe's got even subscribe to a subscription coffee plan and never forget you or causes you care about time creating a relationship like joy. America has a strong Christian heritage Americans don't know really important role God in the Bible and found Dr. Chris Mason having much of America's Christian heritage out of all the government and the men who helped forge the new kind of Republic knowledge, the creator of the truth about the creation of principles to join talking today about leaving a legacy in our families, and more, you've just given such great advice as you've talked about the differences that we have in our families and just the whole time your talk just all these memories of things that happen in our family. I love how you as we were ending up the last segment you mentioned Facebook for minute and the perfect family on Facebook and you think all of us are guilty are probably many others of sometimes of your posting things on Facebook where people get the impression tickly kids will wall wish you know that our family was more like them or we did things like their family did he have to remember that Facebook is just people putting stuff you're not seeing all the stuff go home the same as nobody, nobody has a perfect family and your a lot of painting suffering takes place in every family and we have to work together as a family unit to accomplish what God has called us to do and I know were not talk about Facebook today will we. We need to talk about. Sometimes I get carried away posting things about my kids in the other parent. Sometimes comment to me about you. You brag too much about the kids but I'm I guess I'm justifying but I'm not doing it most the post I make about my kids hopefully they're not listening. You guys won't get in trouble those posts are not really for anybody else on me. I know other people see them but I'm not posting for other people. I really could care less who will sees it.

A big part of why I post things on Facebook is I'm signaling to them as I know it's a real issue in our society today. The a lot of kids don't have a daddy in their life and when I post something I'm saying hey you know what homeowner you know what Christian I'm very proud of what you've done an delusion that is proud of you. I don't do it for other people to see really.

I have an audience of one. When I'm posting about that particular job, but I probably need to write and so I get carried away with what legacy do you think that having certain traditions in your family also help build that legacy Connie you're talking about camping ancient tradition.

People think they have to be huge event that's going to be the tradition and that last for a year to and held by Or finances are tight and I globally can't do the bagel family vacation this year, we can go or we can do this and that traditions are something simple that I often tell parent Chris little things that you're doing are the lasting thing.

The conversations we have around the dinner table, like for instance we get together as a family.

Everything I like how you pull that even if wrong right targeted restaurant that we all go to and who ever make it make it end up happening is okay and that fear of missing out. Now goes out every Tuesday you know, after all.

Even have to say anybody feeling like a restaurant that we've chosen that is economical for the kids because you know they're all adults, we don't pay for dinners. We know that their budgets are tight when they were little craft family meals were important part of our life for me to many other men. Too much going on. You got something from scratch.

It was in my kids laugh and make fun of me because they would say yeah are a treat when the refrigerator and get some great eye with very health conscious when the kids were growing up.

And so traditions laughter during mealtime, or every day, having a part to play in the meal prep and he set the table. Sunday cuts to let us somebody load the dishwasher somebody help with planning the menu. There were a couple years Chris where one of my kids did the grocery shopping and I did that on purpose. That child showed a propensity toward being a person who is extremely interested in the color palette and the textures will trail I write about her and I think that when on a double major in hospitality.

She wanted to run a restaurant she now she's got her Masters in health and nutrition.

She's guide that's where she helped other family how to meal prep and how to eat healthy cellular function started from one mental tradition, making something matter, so it could be making cookies together. It could be exchanging again.

It could be on serving each other by one person cleaning up the other person cramped Chuck Felt like an older sibling doing something extra kind for a younger sibling tradition does not matter as much as making it a fun event for the family, creating lasting memory when I talk about this creating. I also mean creating defining moment. We sometimes think that we have to plan for them. We create them in a rut where it same old same all everyone for everybody.

Maybe even frustrated with each other parent can look for a moment, we can create then we talk about remember last week when playing a videogame, or when we were trying to go out and play game in the backyard. Now you immediately ran over. I'm writing memory nevermind I want them to drop when they're older back any remember that time that's so important I can't offer about 20 years ago I heard a segment on Focus on the Family. I know that you've been on Focus on the Family. There was a man who wrote a book called raising a modern day night and Connie that interview just really kinda change my life because Vicki was pregnant with Christian about that time and in your talk about creating special moments. This member tickly so I'm I'm really addressing fathers here, but I knew the Vicki's been intentional with with our daughters.

Well you look for certain events. They would go have high pretend to have like hi to you where the fancy hats and I don't think anybody in England ever dressed read lately those is departing, but for me, with Christian what I got from this. This man was talking about how fathers need to create intentional moments of their son's lives were there big events like it that 18 years old. What he did.

It did so.

Some people get nervous about this. He gave his son his first shotgun at 21 years old on them or what it was. It was so throughout his life. It was a big moment like it. 1218 21 and then when the guy when the young man gets married and so that particular father, the guy who authored the book talked about the wedding reception when his son got married, you know what tells fathers get up and talk or whatever and he had had he had designed a family crest that is signed know about, and he presented a framed family crest for their family unit is that the of the son and his new wife at the wedding were given that they could hang prominently over the fireplace or somewhere in their home but talk about the elements of that family crest when he designed it.

He decided you each part of the outer picture within that Chris had a purpose, but my point I'm trying to make sure exactly what your site if it's golf what you're saying but you were talking about being purposeful in creating this moments and that man said the exact same thing that we need to create these moments of legacy were the family can look back and remember these particular things going on in their lives really defining moment they can be defining moments in a negative way as well and we have times where I just really want the listeners to realize that doing alright going to be building a family. Families are just and perfect nature that's just out where work in progress.

Everyone will continue to make that and get back Right when I think about possibly making bad decisions that impact her family adversely you are saying earlier in the shell you had to work on some things that you getting ready to become a father certain characteristics or character qualities about yourself like a light switch and you were able to change immediately but you intentional about changing everything you help parent caregivers treat leaders situation.

Do you happen then were able to use that time teaching to our children to realize you know what we find outer when you get to be adult.

You will also encounter pitfalls and that date and there is a way that real I should not I should not have should not have accused you. I speak kindly to your mom or I didn't treat you right or I didn't treat your brothers to write really sorry we you please forgive me for me. I'm going to be more intentional healing for our children to realize we did fail, they arty know we fail. Trust me, like you said earlier modeling engine you with that part of going after your child's heart make them realize have to be perfect. Mom and dad to be perfect to be doing this thing called life that agree and will be moving forward going to course correct going to be focused on matter or doing it right next time. Qualities that may be thinking, well, you just had a wonderful conversation, yet all the camping trip. She did everything to heart. You're doing it right like social media, you're hearing part of our whole parenting journey in my case, my old 35 years old you story of my shortcomings in their father's shortcomings. They were watching the key or whining about the relationship about cultivating a relationship of unconditional love that knitting when we had done something and being willing to come back and say sorry. Forgive me for laughing a lot listeners I want to stay here key element to Chris guy can break a generational curse.

In my case I didn't want my family to emulate my childhood there something you want to break maybe alcoholism or drug abuse, or abuse in general. Maybe it even had a parent who is blocking my caloric got it in the business of redeeming and restoring and you have the opportunity to change your family legacy. Pray over your child play with your child and pray for your child. What a great way to show folks. I challenge you this weekend to spend some time alone with God. Legacy will write Christian perspective.
