CNG radio for today's culture and timeless truths come together is reason relevant content apologetics worldview and answers to the questions that you need to know need to know from Alex McFarlane ministries. This is true for a new generation radio and now the man who preached in 50 states and 50 days beaker writer, and advocate for Christian apologetics Dr. Alex McFarlane in second Corinthians 517 the word of God says if anyone is in Christ old things a pathway behold all things are made new hi Alex McFarlane, you're welcome to treat for new generation so excited for the program you got here. We've got a very very special friend at the recording console with the Laura. Whom you meet in just a second. Everybody has their story after story of God working in their lives and few people have a story so compelling and an interesting and inspiring, as is Laura. She's with me right now to talk about the gospel. Some of the projects the Lord has her involved in, but I Laura, thank you. It's a busy time carved out a few moments to join us at trees for a new generation and welcome. Thank you so much for having me. Let me here yeah on it. I just wish everybody could see your smile because you have got a million watt smile.

Had Edison not invented the light bulb. Not to worry, your smile could've lit lit up this entire random plot.

Why are you so joyful Laura, I just Jesus is given me so much joy I I'm just still amazed at what is done in my life and you know I I think for some people that they try to make their life better or that they want God in a Navy Texas problem that he wants to take you from death to life. Not like you sent him a brand-new creature and he just give me such joy. Yeah well am worse home for you, what would you grow up. I grew up in Bartlesville, which is about an hour north of Tulsa that I live in Oakland. The city sure, when I think that I've been out there.

So I think about climate as the West, you know, horses, and kinda the cowboy stuff did you grow up in a rural area or in the city. The city girl in Bartlesville is a small town and while that 30,000 but it's more like a really small city in the country. Johnson did you grow up in a Christian home.

I did yeah and and we are when those families buried in church every time the door was open and involved in all the programs in Christian school and Bible tell good Southern Baptist can loan it will be now. I first met you in the context of a movie called in his image that the American family Studios produced very beautiful. These sweeping shots of trees and mountains and landscape beautiful film. If you would tells what was your role in that movie I got the privilege to share my testimony in that movie and just to declare what Jesus has done in my life and that testimony centers around what is that I am former transgender.

I lived that life for almost 9 years and had all the surgeries, hormones, legal changes that everything is totally convinced that the Lord set me free. And that's my declaration of the world you know well sitting before me is a joyful, very beautiful woman but you were transitioning to be a male. Although I believe gender is objective in a male is male and females.

If you would tell us about that journey what precipitated your desire not to be a woman I had rejected the feminine in me for a lot of reasons. II had kind of difficult relationship with my mom and I look back now I don't blame her.

None of this was her fault were all sinners raising other centers we all make mistakes but I think my mom was raised in in such a legalistic religion and all she knew was working hard for God is a lot of times she's just too busy and want me around and I can interpret that as rejection now and I believe this lie and then I held onto bitterness.

There's this person Hebrews.

It says it's Hebrews 1215 and 16.

This is looking diligently listening and fall short of the grace of God is any root of bitterness springing up trouble you and thereby many be defiled there said be any fornicator or profane person such as Esau for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.

This is what I've learned in looking back at my story.

Yes, I was angry my mom for some things in there are some hurt. But honestly, a lot of my bitterness that I held onto and over the years. It just begin to destroy my life in a works based religion does that legalism for a from how would you define legalism. Well, you know it was it was like doing all the right things checking all the right boxes making sure you don't have a taught alignment and no relationship you know I I never heard about trusting God. We never spent a lot of time like we were doing other things, going to church but as a family and a member having discussions really talk about faith in God we didn't have a relationship or anything like that, you know, Josh McDowell, who is been a friend for a lot of years. Christian apologist uses rules without relationship breeds rebellion. That's exactly what I think is yeah II didn't want let my my mom had honestly at the time because all I remember.

I can still picture the stress on her face when she would come home because she was so burned out so stressed out and trying so hard that it wasn't her fault she went in multiple pastors and they would tell her friends and you just need to try harder. Just try yeah try harder. You know, and folks, if you're just tuning in your listing to transfer new generation with our guest Laura. We talked about Laura's testimony coming out of transgender is summoned to Jesus, but for just a moment. We got about one minute for the first break. There's a very lovely word grace God gives us his grace is how did you give yourself permission to trust in that grace well you know I built my faith little by little, I got saved actually about a year and 1/2 before I left the lifestyle.

But he built my faith over that time and I knew I could trust him and I basically came down to he asked me if I trusted him and it was like this little yes I gave him and he literally just carried me out any just guided me one step at a time. He's the one that all the work that infects myself or Jesus he's done it all in me and we really, really can trust and can you absolutely it's a beautiful thing what what you said the person out there and in their heart. Maybe there's a little whimper of hope. I want to trust God.

But I've been hurt so many times can I actually trust God.

What you say to that person. Laura, I will say that he will never fail you.

He reminds me that all the time that no matter what he will never leave you nor forsake you.

And he will never ever fail you, and then pasted to got a brief break will come back more with more. How the transformative power of Jesus in her life can also be the love and the power of God in your life to will explain stick to America today is like a patient struggling to live yet is being forcibly euthanized by her doctors. The life force within the patient fighting for survival is the honest citizens like yourself, became "caregivers are the local and national leaders actually contributing to the demise of the patient economy is crashing crime is exploding.

Anna Laura want to think on and up before you continue your story how can people find you on the web or I know you're an author photo somewhere we can find your website. They can connect with I have a book by the same name that you can get there. I also work for first on ministries in Oklahoma City and you're welcome to contact me their contact the rest of our staff. You know what I was on webinar a couple of years ago with restored hope network. One of my colleagues from Focus on the Family 20 years ago and talk. I don't know if you know and she's a friend and first on ministries I met somebody that restored hope that was reported that first, my memory, what, what do they do. We are a ministry of sexual redemption. We, or you we work with the sexually and relationally broken so that maybe these people that have struggled with transgender Zimmer homosexuality that it can also be a lot of struggle with pornography that have been sexually abused.

Some of the largest relationally broken so we deal with all kinds of issues you so her world is absolutely yeah yeah emotional pains go so deep I've been on panels and psychologists. Sometimes had secular psychologists say that there is no way to ever really overcome emotional pain, but I believe in Jesus the remains.

He really really does make all things new dozen absolutely.

And I think that's been part of the transformation. You know people are so blown away at what Jesus is done in me that honestly Aziz peeled away the layers of the onion as he brought healing as I've been able to forgive those that hurt me and let go of those nose wounds and that bitterness been transformed from the inside out exactly and talk. What was it like when you were making the decision to walk away from your femininity and walk toward masculinity and you know it was really hard because I I wanted. I knew before I started. I guess he is a II recognize that I was jealous of men, but it's like once I embrace that I really believe the lie that I was born that way, you know, and I was absolutely convinced, I went to the sport. Meeting with them five minutes are likely are definitely transgender and you. I just bought it and I remember every little step I would look forward to the next step. I can't wait until I start my hormones when you start that you realize that so can make will once again my name legally changed, then know that it will be real habitable and believe that's me in on a cycle that still not working and then even after surgery. I remember after my surgery. I like the physical results unit seemed to take up the way the pain is like any kind of pain killer takes away the pain for a short time. I recognize that it wasn't real and it was devastating to me in the morning went down that road. I kept trying but it's like you get to a point. It's like you know walking up a seesaw or something at some point it tips over cycle. I can't go back know if you like your into deep and there was no way I wanted to be a woman so I just kept going deeper and deeper.

Even though I recognize it really wasn't real hoping that that day never came.

Did you have peace and side door as you work going down this road and you said, look, this is what will bring me peace you didn't have peace now.

I'm for a while. It was really fun. I mean there was days that I just thought it was the greatest thing ever and it's kind of like being at an amusement park and while you're there, it's fine. It's exciting you kind of forget about everything else for a while but then eventually the rides close down and go home and there's that this disappointment and you realize after a while that the life you're living is not real, and I went what he promised me freedom to become my present self because I had to reinvent my life all the time I ventilate a job where was only known as male that he know of strands and I know I was having a make up stuff or lie about who I was, so I would like the tone, a story that child and is like a linen I can than girls because I had have been a Boy Scouts are not certain that an ex-boyfriend one time and I'm supposed to be the straight man that Sina married to a woman and my partner was actually also trends and we hardly ever did anything outside in public. We were so afraid of being found out. Every time I had a conversation with people all of his thinking was, do they know so. So to cover up a lot.

You had to invent more lies yeah and that's got to be burdensome it was. I was just getting buried underlies remember the day really hit me that I had my I found out the night and ex-boyfriend in mind was marrying this girl and he'd been abusive. This is just a horrible relationship and I had all these emotions and I went and I was told my boss he would become a good friend about this and I'm just going on and on.

She's looking at me in her eyes again and I don't realize this and like and she said take you swing both ways it was like totally caught off guard MMB and so anger that ending so sick of living I just realized it was never going to be real well you a moment of honesty. I mean probably somewhat painful honesty, but so many when I spoke University's peoples to delete sure you know people that are in the gay lifestyle or the pursuing transgender is him they are depressed. They engage in substance abuse this because of you conservatives that make them feel bad about themselves and out you know I've said well you know I've spoken in hundreds of churches in I've been around some of the most conservative people you'd ever meet, and I've never yet heard somebody make disparaging remarks or try to hurt somebody's feelings so we might so will the Lord, the Lord says this in his word, but what you say to people that say while the trans people who are unsatisfied is because all of you conservative Christians make the rest of us feel bad. What would be your response to that, there's lot of information out there. There was a study several years ago done, and in Sweden where they showed that the the suicide numbers were almost exactly the same or maybe a little higher after surgery and after they had all the affirmation the world and I can tell you, even for many other stories I've heard that the affirmation is good for a while but it's not enough to sustain.

It's not enough to override the lies and even with my parents that you know that they wouldn't use the pronouns in the name that I wanted but at the same time I get angry but they really weren't causing the depression and all the anxiety and everything like that. Actually, it was like a tether to reality. To me it reminded me of who I really was. Even though it's the very thing I wanted to cut off, but the real depression was coming from the fact that I was living a line that this was never real and I was angry that the surgeries and all the hormones were making it real. No, come back and talk more.

Welcome back, and it's such a joy to have you really is and I just want to applaud you for your courage because you know that moment when you realize. Look, I'm going down the wrong path.

I better turn the car around and that's not just physically but spiritually you turn to Jesus regardless of what deep hole with Doug for ourselves. He can get us out of it.

Can I yeah absolutely. In fact that's that's kind of the point he brought me to because I kept thinking I now was convicted after I'd come to Christ about the life of living now to fix it and I kept trying. I get thinking of everything I could do and I got in that it got it want not to do. Just open it address at work and say just kidding girl I had been. I was at a job I was only known as male. No one even knew of his hands and so I kept wrestling through how I was going to fix this because I knew I didn't want me living that life some, but I finally saw myself in this deep dark pit that I couldn't get out of, just like you're describing.

And I see the light at the top, but I had no way out and he reminded me of Matthew 1624 to 26. It says if anyone will come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.

For whosoever will save his life shall lose it.

But whosoever loses his life for my sake shall find it. What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and yet forfeit his own soul. And I remember thinking at that moment. What if I hang on to this in a and and lose all fraternity like you know I I was so I was so convicted and I knew that I was gonna stand before him one day and he literally I had a vision of Jesus like getting down on one knee he raised his hand in this pit was any said do you trust me and I knew he was asking his walk away from everything is the hardest thing I've ever done.

And I thought I was absolutely dying it for some place later I was dying is dying myself dying to that life dying that identity and it really was.

My parents experienced almost like the death of their daughter. When I went into that lifestyle, but it was literally like I was reading the death of this identity that I had, but after that it was literally like I'd been raised from the dead.

I remember once that the blinders came up and the lie broke off it was really like. I just been so set free and you know it took.

It still took several years to heal, but I remember just feeling like I'd been resurrected and you know in the Chronicles of Narnia story by CS Lewis. There is a story of a of a one character Susan Eustis and Houston San and he turns into like this Dragon actually and Aslan the lion who represents Jesus peels the scales off of him.

Eustis is say now you're killing me on how to survive this. I'm gonna die, but in allowing the Lord to transform his life.

That's how he actually live is a lot like that is that when we when we really let go for we are and embrace Jesus, we might think it's going to be our undoing. But it's really our liberation is yeah absolutely I really thought it was gonna be miserable for the rest of my life. I just thought that if I can just hang on. I knew it would be better in heaven. One day I knew that I'd have anybody and I wouldn't struggle with these things, but I really I just been like a bird set free and this is the verse that comes to mind a lot, you know, it says I have not seen your ears heard noise even entered into the heart of man the things that God has in store for those that love him and I've seen guys blow me away at what is done in my life in the healing that is brought and I love being feminine now.

I never thought that was possible, and will I consider you have joy you just radiate the presence of the Lord and hate the book he wrote up and you've got the website tells again where people can find those transgender tutor and the book is the same title he can find it there on the website. We've heard the last for five years, probably from several hundred parents who said oh Alex, pray for us, our child came out as gay or trans and often times moms and dads a shortcut of the chase. They don't know what to do. Can you give little advice to the mom or the dad that their heart is broken because their son or daughter is going down a path of sexual brokenness, sexual deviancy, what you said the mom and the dad. The most important thing is to keep your eyes on Jesus and I've talked to so many parents said there either. You know, and in despair and in so much guilt and shame on themselves.

Even with the palms of my mom. This was her fault in her legs that were world sinners raising other centers where there are many lies that I believe she really did love me you know I was the one that was holding on his bitterness and not forgiving but it might as my parents, they tried to fix me at first and I could feel they're trying to pull me, but eventually they really surrendered me in the Lord's hands. And they got their eyes on Jesus, and as they pursued him and they were being transformed and there they went from being very good Christian sort of this religious but they became filled with faith and peace and it was such a difference in as they got their eyes on Jesus and begin to pursue him.

It begin to draw me while if you had one prayer for the American church at this time, as it were, so, so much as in the news about this and even among more liberal denominations there giving a thumbs up to this.

What would your prayer before the church at large in the USA regarding transgender is the church would you know stand firm on the word of God.

Do not compromise what will never save souls by it, by lowering the bar. Jesus didn't do that even like with the rich young ruler. He let them walk away. And yet we can be filled with compassion and we need to be there to him like a father.

The prodigal son to embrace people to draw them to bring them to Jesus, but without compromising the word God bless you and hope we can visit again soon. I'll be praying for you. I commend you for your service to the board and to that website again transgender to to go transgender tutor Thanks for listening to choose a new generation keep us in prayer you can find some website Alex God bless you for listing and may God bless America.
