Dr. Davis wraps up her final moment series on today's Truth Matters. She's excited to share with you each day on this station, timely, relevant, and insightful biblical topics helping you to grow in faith and in knowledge of God's Word. Today, she completes her teaching on the peril of the rich young ruler who desired to follow Jesus as one of his disciples, but stumbled when told to give his fortune away and take up his cross and follow Jesus.

Here's Dr. Davis and final moments. Take down your stuff in order to take up the cross. The Lord is merciful to give us time to repent. We see that time for repentance in the history of the Israelites as well as the history of America. But sin will reach a point called the fullness of measure.

I call it the point of no return. In Genesis 15, we find where the Amorite sin came to fullness of measure. The fullness of measure qualifies us for judgment. We see this in the history of the Bible. After the point of no return comes judgment. For Eve, she and Adam were cast out of the garden and cursed in childbirth. The people of Noah's day, the earth was destroyed by the flood. They experienced death by drowning. For the Israelites, it was captivity and extinction. For the rich young ruler, his encounter with Jesus and his denial turned out to be his final decision.

He turned away sadly. He rejected God because he had great possessions. The judgment for rejecting God is eternity in hell. There's an assumption today in the modern church that grace is endless and limitless. Some in the modern day church believe that God is so loving that he will withhold judgment because we say with our lips, God please forgive us, but in our hearts and with our actions, we fully continue to sin. Hebrews chapter 10, 26 through 27 addresses willful sin. It says, For if we sin willfully, after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful looking of our judgment and fiery indignation which shall devour our adversaries. If grace was endless and limitless, judgment would cease to exist. In addition, God would need to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah. We know that God is righteous, holy, and perfect.

He never makes a mistake. Therefore, judgment will continue to occur in the present day. The grace of God will not extend forever. Judgment will come at the appointed time according to the will of God. I don't know what judgment is for you.

As I said before, only God can see the condition of a man's heart as it truly is. But for some of you, this is your final moment. There are valuables sitting on the throne of your heart that is taking the place of God.

What is your final answer? What do you need to lie down on the altar today to avoid God's judgment for later? In John 5, 6, the Bible says, When Jesus saw him lie and knew that he had been now a long time in that care, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole? This passage is about the lame man laid by the pull of Bethesda.

Really, when you get down to it, all of us are lame. Apart from God, we can do nothing. And apart from him, we are incomplete. The Spirit is asking us today, Will you be made whole? Will you lay down whatever is creating distance, weariness and brokenness?

For some of you, it is destroying your life. Lay it down today so that Jesus can make you whole and that you can serve him wholeheartedly. As Dr. Davis has finished today's lesson on final moments and the Rich Young Ruler series, she reminds us that God's grace is available for everyone.

But there is a time limit in which to receive it. For the Rich Young Ruler, Scripture does not say if he ever returned to Jesus, but time is still available to you in making your decision to lay down whatever may be separating you from God and taking up your cross to follow Jesus.
