It's time to man up Nikita go up here with you if you're a follower of Jesus and work out in the marketplace. How do you transfer your faith from church on Sunday morning to the marketplace on Monday morning. Well that's what we're talking about today I bring it back at our guest this weekend. I just felt compelled to bring them back. Not him back. Now we know it's real talk with real man who realize it's time to man up that the this couple had such an amazing story. The last time we had him on the show. I thought they they've got to go back and so Brian in and Jimmy Johnson together, own and operate Crescent automotive independent dealership in Aiken South Carolina. They been down there for 25 years of family business raised in a Southern Baptist Church of Brian accepted Christ as a young boy but God really began to work in his life and in his business when he yielded, fully yielded his heart and his finances finances to the Lord about 18 years ago and because Jamie his lovely bride works alongside building Crescent motors with Brian raise four children and prayer warriors superhero.

As he says, and manages get this managed the barn wedding venue at the double J ranch as well write a Jamie welcome to the show. Good afternoon Nikita great day. Have you guys back with see Aaron and I feel confident I can say our listeners so enjoyed that the first time you were on that that I was just so compelled by your story to have you back on again so appreciate you being with us and course you know you're you heard even in here's here's what really inspired me to to to bring you guys back on as you guys out there working in the marketplace. You got the solid dealership you have this for 25 years work side-by-side, which in today's world. This is not typical that a husband and wife are working side-by-side together and so there's a couple things I want our listeners to to to learn from our conversation today, starting with your faith.

So you've got this relationship with Jesus but you're out working in the marketplace. It's not like you're standing behind a pulpit every Sunday and and so… Let's talk a little bit about how you transfer that faith from.

As I said, from Sunday morning into the marketplace on Monday morning.

Brian let's start with you so you know what what are some of the things that that you do or maybe your customers may be due or don't notice her, but how you're able to share your faith only or you say show your faith out in the marketplace, making what I thought. Every morning in prayer. What you know that you not riding to work together typically at and we have about a 30 minute ride. We start our day in prayer) business and and for God to bless us with it and when you do that carries over into your body like I have much better day when I'm in prayer and start my day in prayer than when I don't when we meet a customer you don't know the background you don't know where they're from and to get to know them a little bit and I try to use my faith is a common ground when I meet up meet a customer you know how one of the first topics I bring up is nowhere to go to church not because not everybody goes to church and and there is opportunity. At that point to hear Barack Jeremiah or not it gives us a common ground or someone we know that we go to church together with someone that we mad a family member relative was an opportunity to to get a common going on question and in business and sales. I think that's very important. People want to do business where they feel comfortable where they trust and and when you come across sincerely your faith when you introduce yourself. I think that helps ease that bring that bar down just a little bit that bear you that maybe a consumer has a coming to your marketplace to do business with Yahoo. I would imagine that in 25 years of car sales that not every single person and as you said walks in his attends church goes to church at an indoor is even a Christ follower or woods view themselves as a Christian right so what what an opportunity you have. You know each and every day that that you're there and in the showroom or you know in the office and in speaking to a potential customer to build that bridge right especially if they're not a Christ follower or you find out that there there not a church attender, but to build that bridge right absolutely actually equipped with that wall talk talk you got all we have to practice Christlike principles in her business and sometimes that's tougher with certain people.

If you have an issue if you have a problem. The way you address it. I found that Christians into the able to work out with easier than someone that doesn't have compassion or understanding to know the Lord's out so that that comes into it as well so so Jamie let let me ask you because I know not everyone always has a high view of car salesman or car sales would let every right like a real rabbit right right so so hot. How do you what it in your world yell woman in the marketplace woman in the workplace. A Christ follower, a lover of Jesus.how do you personally when you interact or come into contact with account customer. How do you translate that to that customer would you do I will show your true colors. Let people give you an opportunity to be a little more understanding.

Even when I'm found it hard to gain and give people a reflection of who you are and what you and for air around it and if you highlight how you solve it and when I tried it the right thing palming any kind of AC door problem that may arise. It really gave you on that extra can't keep to the family.

You are in prison you are thinking eight or Chris. Now that eventually act like an prison that another person be a Christian or not yet come back. People fall because they didn't get your track target traffic each walking up the street not know anything about it.

Now that the family meant nothing not right okay okay let me like here and you're not hearing back and watch how you react to think of how you operate really aren't going to happen anyway when you put your best foot forward of the Christian and lovingly been in your bed want to earn their net compact repeat bed nets that want to maintain greatly why Christian yeah I got a good friend of mine Leone Leone kind of similar ability of the small dealership. It, private private car lot. I'm not. I'm struggling for the worry what to call but you know their own their own. The car lot and I know people walking like I've been in their office before in their in their in their building and in the course and I and I don't know if you maybe if you guys do this or this is even perhaps a subtle way of opening up that door conversation, but I know like they have different like wethers, posters or even some scriptures and some different things on the walls to you are at your facility to you have that on display as well or not, or we have a number directly customer even elderly man. There is just making people feel comfortable and you know you you think business comes with a statement dark used car dealer next to an attorney, you know have that that stigma of being a little crooked and so we have to overcome and we do that by instilling trust in our customers. We do it by powerful testimonies that we put on our website very hard to get a good review is very easy to get that right but we work very hard for our good reviews and we asked for them and we feel honored when we get one and we just try to try to do the right things so that those things will fall in place. Spirit of discernment with somebody when you're speaking with them and you can you can see their inner heart.

Make the transition a lot smoother.

You dealing with a fair person about what will speak of testimonies. Jamie maybe just share one that but maybe comes to mind up the testimony of a customer, getting your good reviews with what what Sarah is a story a customer story that that maybe just kind of jumps out at you like wow that you can share with us something, some way how your car lot and how you as you soon and saying how you conduct yourselves that it made such an impact on on a customer service story that comes to mind immediately. Jamie actually what you have a problem telling how that Emily had very customer and I cannot even remember what the situation was something that I'm sure with the repair of the vehicle very angry.

She did not want me to her health person she wanted that owner, and for some reason, trying our best out that the information I found a lady I could make her happy bright lady with long face. What is broader and adored. What's wrong not think that they'll person maybe next calling her back on the issue and got lost in translation whenever capitulation what. However, she very easily fit right that calm down let's talk about what going on until I know what the problem certainly can't take that and I think we end up hanging them on something minor prepared he was shellshocked after she laughed and we actually think he was so wrapped on the fact that we weren't even walk in the door on mop vehicle to help family had that she would know angry about the issue before we can't quite frankly, no, I live on my shot back to the development of well and keep it turned around at that complement that he gave very shocking. There is a problem and actually think that absolutely blown away after one stand out in my mind that one resonates with you I will and and Brian you I'm reminded of this, the Savior, please. Some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all the time right this is not realistic and and and I'm guessing again and in your line of work over 25 years of of selling cars that you probably had opportunities like that other opportunities I should say to say no and on an unhappy customer and upset customer and and able to say hey what can we do to make this right for you right good good point Nikki would've also found out with this lady with the case.

Sometimes when people are upset they're looking for. You looking for somebody to take it out and we talk a lot about problem. You know you that spirit of discernment was somebody to figure out what's going on this girl. She's talking about.

I remember we don't get a lot of problems. We do we follow all she had some issues at home mother from the car you just magnified. It was something moderate was a small repair bill. Somebody you know we get a goodwill for to help her out but she had another problem right about that with us and shared, and you know so that's something I take dealing with just people no matter what you're selling what you're doing is just the conscientious of another person spirit.

You know what, what are they struggling with today. You know the argument why what their child. What kind of financial issues and and you know we soldiers for Christ, we have to we have to be legally have to have your heart you know what I need to vent a little bit let it out and figure out what's going on. Maybe we can we can talk with him and help him solve a problem or put them in the right direction. Nothing else to give somebody in our prayer life to pray for us. Yeah I'm trying to work on that myself guys a stress when I'm on the road in my car I'm a bike you know the company offer drive the utility you know they drive like a maniac and try to remind myself, okay, why would they be driver like that what you know, potentially causing a people to rescue know, but it is like for real though I'm like learning did to to say okay Lord what's going on's good point Brian what's going on in their life is what I'm seeing right now may just be the manifestation of something much bigger going on in their life just like the story you just you just shared in four listeners out there.

You know you know you can probably relate to some of the sum of what's being said today because there's times you got upset over over something that was minor perhaps, but there was more to the story right.

You guys talk about something interesting as well.

The word trust and people just learning to trust you as as they come into your place of business in and of course you know that really translates into our our walk with with Jesus right and just learning even to trust him, starting with trusting him and then the ability to trust others weathers coming in to buy a car, whatever else it is were doing so you know what it again. That's something out of what you guys that's something that I'm learning to do is is you note continue to trust the Lord more and more and more and so you know these opportunities for you guys to work with these customers and gain their their trust will you think translates into and all of our lives and in terms of building our own trust in our walk in relationship with the Lord right so you feel you receiving value from this show. What I mean what one of you have a story like that. Well, you know, the newest addition to our family. I think the big God deal. You and I are in the process of adopting a girl okay Wesley J. And that's outside the realm, we bought two half years ago we were preparing for our third and youngest child away to college looking at maybe an RV were going to do some different things and you begin to slow down a little bit literally 18-month-old girl showed up on our doorstep.

No almost literally on the doorstep exactly but close enough), and we began this journey that we shared with you which you have peered into male and and and you know we've acquired full custody and into your court what not to get started cross follow through.

Now, with final adoption. Your future, 53, you know I'm to a almost soon-to-be four-year-old girl and I know that God because of the environment that the child came out of because of the changes that she has made and Jamie in our life and our relationship.

We are closer today as husband and wife because of this little girl we are. Everything about our world works changed everything. We did not put the child into daycare so we've got some in-home help that we get in-house help from a relative, we're both taking a day and 1/2 hour work week to be there with her that you know we don't have to have care outside of the home and and I think I taught you last Friday and I was I was home with critically took the time to steal common stock and hear God voice, because the child is slowed me down from what I may have built the new so that the big God thing that happened in our life couple years that we didn't see coming. We can pray for quick whatever happened last.

That's a pretty big one and that certainly have met that precious press live and is to say that the two of you stepped up and and take taking her near home just reminds me of how you know you taken that child into your home and in for those listening out there today but maybe not a Jesus follower and you've never you never surrendered your life to Jesus. He says come to me.

Just as a little child and and and once we do that, whether it's in no whether we consider ourselves to be part of a family or or or you know living. Having grown up in an orphanage or in foster care that that he's the father to the fatherless and and and certainly when we surrender a hard life to him.

He will adopt us into his family and so you you guys are just a picture of that in my mind of of adopting this little child bringing her bringing her into the home and so that that I would say that's that's a God showed up and in a big wall deal there.

Jamie let me ask you all almost all the time already. If you believe it or not, but but let me ask you this what one more question relating to business and so how did how did the how did the dinner, maybe can answer for both of you, but interior, how did you know like like okay this is the path that God has us on the car business or as we would say you were called into into the marketplace to sell cars to give up.

It was a short answer on that market. Elkhart father before him all beetle teabag to go to Berkeley to daddy the little boy and I think what he told me I don't know I didn't Elkhart.

I don't know what else I would do that. All I know how to get around my felt it was not my pain retail, especially the hours are crazy weekend. The having basically make a lot of relationship make it much like marriage and make it in the carpet that were not the only like that that the divorce rate very high carpet that we actually made a defendant can gather at the family appointment at Mary gather and I went that look like for me anyway and get that out of any of that became Brian and I can pray not helping him organize a grant from their lap, taking a bite left the car while I'm out for lunch at it like you know anything about it and he taught me everything that I know and you know going and would get that right now. The harder people on your pathway to air heat and a little bit of personality that we've done everything from coparenting to retailing land and other dealer and on the bean counter and that I take the money and teabag vehicle, Madden complement him on.

On the other hand, well, that we can't do it together. That's also you guys have a great story this disc again. Great to have you on the sill and you certainly proven hopefully to our listeners out there that not only can you take your face and exercise that so to speak out in the marketplace. You don't have to just contain it to church on Sunday morning, you can exercise that out in the marketplace and and work together even as as husband and wife.
