Is never a shortage of blasphemers against Christ, pray to God is never a shortage of Christian to meet these things head on Satan, of course, he is the author of the fake gods, but men are the publisher we are the ones that they like the newsies they're out there getting the word out on street corners, making these false opinions about God available Satan's goal and achieved it has been to flood the earth with lies about the true God. This is cross reference radio with our pastor and teacher.

Rick asked Rick is the pastor of Calvary Chapel Mechanicsville.

Rick is currently teaching through the book of Judges. Please stay with us after today's message to hear more information about cross reference radio, specifically how you can get a free copy of this teaching. Sampson blinded champion is the title of Pastor Rick's message he will be teaching in Judges chapter 60.

So again some time since his betrayal. Delilah Dara gone there God. This is his temple will get that in verse 28 that's really going to meet this temple was sort of an arena. It was large enough to hold probably 7000 people saw six or 7000 people. We know that because 3000 of them are on the roof that leaves those down below the first floor. This named argon is a disputed name by theological linguist linguistic experts.

The Hebrew root is fish but the Arabic is grain so is he the God of the sea.

The Philistines were people of the sea, or were they worshiping him as a God who provided grain which is in line with most other peoples of the world that worship idols.

They worshiped the creature that gives them the life worship of the sun of the Mayans and the Incas same you know worshiping those things it produced for them, the mountains, the hills, from where the rains would come. I think it is the God of grain, I think it's symbolic.

Also in the story because Sampson set fire to the grain field perhaps marking their God. Either way, they would've connected that they got him now the one who stole their grain hit their economy very hard, as well as their military. If this guy didn't just stop. The Philistines would've been reduced to a marginal people and eventually gone it, which did happen to them. Just not in Sampson's lifetime. So they gone there. God is this temple that they're going to is says here and to rejoice. That's because over the conquest of Sampson, the Jews would later rejoice over the conquest of payment just saying and they said our God is delivered into our hands. Sampson our enemy is never a shortage of fake gods. There's never a shortage of wrong views about the true God is never a shortage of blasphemers against Christ, pray to God there's never a shortage of Christians to meet these things head on Satan, of course, he is the author of the fake gods, but men are the publishers.

They're the ones that door. They like the newsies they're out there getting the word out on street corners, making these false opinions about God available Satan's goal in his achieved it is been to flood the earth with lies about the true God. This of course gives some people an excuse sin. We can really tell who tell who is God, and who is not only strong gods out there and I can't believe is only one God. You have heard that line acutely was only one way to God whose to say that another person's God is false and another one is real.

They all can be false things like that. They hunt response to this, especially the unit whose to say that one is false and another is not why can't they all be God's.

They want says if there is more than one God, and who is in charge, obey, hunt style, again with the God that he would raise up with Dave Hunter and a W toes are before the final call. He continues Dave Hunt. He says if one God is stronger or has more authority than the others, then none of the rest of the gods can really be God that's with the Greeks and Romans got wrong.

If he is a God, by definition, he is omnipotent earth is not a God is a benchwarmer or something is a created being. But he's not God.

The definition this is where we come in. We went some of Salome God will what is your God, tell me about your God, as I perceive he's a doofus and then I'll tell you about my God and was supposed to say to them.

Listen, by definition, a God is not omnipotent and not to be messed with, and to use his name for every stupid thing that comes in your your site is not honoring any kind of omnipotent, all-powerful, self existent, holy and righteous being so if these little things can count to the Christian church.

That's why we are students of the Old Testament as well as the New Testament is God's word to us.

It's it's interesting how well that I finished the day for noise. One of the things this up. If one God is stronger or has more authority than the others, then none of the rest of the gods can really be God. So we are back to monotheism and quote it comes right back is only one God, the Trinity is not three gods. This is some of the difficulty of the difficulties the apostles had to face in writing the New Testament is presenting the Trinity without sending this message to a polytheistic world that we Christians have three God's. And so it is veiled, but it is there nonetheless. And when you were born again the veil comes up enough all the way because we were not were not capable of fully understanding everything there is to understand about God and even that much is this too much, but we can understand enough those of the world who have for God's they do not approach other truths. This way, only when it comes to the only true God.

Do they kind of become very careless. For instance, their pay stubs or their refunds.

They make sure those lineup with the facts as best they can with the facts concerning God's truth.

It doesn't matter to them and so Paul says about Satan's work on the people who think this way of which I was once says, whose mind, the god of this age is blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ was who is the image of God, should shine on them. Can you imagine that being said about any angel that Michael is the image of God be blasphemy see this that veil Trinity that veil of the deity of Christ I mean is not higher than God.

We know the Holy Spirit as part of the Trinity, because Jesus said you know you can go ahead and make mistakes in your speech about the father and the son.

But if you blaspheme the Holy Spirit.

You can't say that about Michael or Gabriel or Moses or Paul or yourself or anyone else except God did these truths are woven into the Scripture and the Jehovah's Witnesses don't want to see if the Mormons do not want to see it and they will be held accountable for this. Even, you know, Roman Catholicism has their doctrine that really hell is empty and this contradicts other doctrines. They have been surprised, but they want to try to draw out love God, which reduces the commandments to God to really makes God a liar. That view because he's promised judgment to those who reject him and to suggest that ultimately everybody ends up in heaven the universal God of everyone of the father of everyone is to make a mockery to say that what Jesus did all the diver everybody loves to forgive and I love to send Voltaire's words, I think was Voltaire. I don't build I get the less I read those things and nights go from memory, and I miss him all but to get close enough to hit the bull's-eye in some weird way, send them to limit a few miss words with the cakey genitals Psalm 86 verse 10 the Psalms of this life squeezing faith out of people.

That's with the Psalms are some of you can turn a good day. Some of the new kitchen, a pet day. All of them are before the throne of God. Even Psalm 88, which is not have a happy ending.

The only one still before the throne of God voicing or expressing themselves before God's throne.

The Bible were a man-made book that would've been a good Psalm to edit out Psalm 86 versus 8 to 10 among the gods.

There is none like you owe Yahweh, nor are there any works like your works. All nations whom you have made shall come and worship before you, oh Lord, and shall glorify your name for your great and wondrous things. You alone are God, which of course repulsed the peoples around the Jews, the Canaanites, because they believe okay your God is over there in the valley in my God's over here in the mountains, and they just made room for each other, their chariots would have bumper stickers like co-exists me out of all of symbols of the different religions that trying to synchronize God, the righteous Jews felt that was blasphemous, and that just brought anger against them, as it does with the Christians, so that when we in the workplace where we find ourselves at no I think that's a lie right out of hell but they cherish that lie we become their targets so that Psalm says in the face of Dagon. That's what we've been discussing the work of Satan flooding the earth with false ideas about God. God's response to that is the church and when the church is no longer able to do that. She is withdrawn and the antichrist is comes to power because the Holy Spirit is no longer restraining as he was still restraining distillates planet but he is withdrawn and allowed the evil to move forward to bringing the great tribulation. So this has everything to do with one's God that they worship in the Philistines here sort of up microcosm of the world today gathering around to rejoice in the destruction of the true believer, because that true believer was a threat to everything they stood for and that's why the world persecutes us.

Jesus said the world can persecute you because your other world.

Well, verse 24, when the people saw him, that is Sampson. They praise their God, for they said our God has delivered into our hands. Our enemy destroyer of our land and the one who multiplied our dead that's experienced theology essay because we've experienced a victory. Our God must be right. Never let all the other weird and wacky things about your God, that cannot be proven, and so the people saw him they had their version of Holly Lou your praise the Lord defiled version Sampson to them was like a monster was a juggernaut they couldn't stop him was nothing they could do is like Superman and to see him like this brought them not only relief but ecstasy. Sampson had help them in their false beliefs, by the way he lived. He gave them sort of gave them reason to believe in their lie and we know that Nathan the prophet said that to David. You've given the enemies of the Lord grounds to blaspheme David and pointer finger at Yahweh because what you did. Verse 25.

So what happened when their hearts were Mary that they said call for Sampson that he may perform for us so they call for Sampson from the prison. And he performed for them in the station him between two pillars where they allowed to drink at this religious festival to Dagon that suggested language so it happened when their hearts were Mary when the Bible uses as early Mary with wine. So at this time, the air filled with all this excitement they worn out there you know that they've already socialized themselves.

They've exhausted that form of the festival. Now let's bring in the entertainment.

This reminds me of Revelation 11. When the two witnesses are killed they'll get up again course Revelation 1110 and those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them, make Mary and send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those who dwell on the earth by standing for righteousness.

They tormented by not allowing them to carry on the debauchery they were tormented nevermind what they do to others in this world needs righteous God has one just refuses they said call for Sampson that he may perform for us comedy and entertainment from Sampson is two different Hebrew words. I'm using the new King James and the work performed is twice said in this verse and their two different Hebrew words of translated performance. One of my problems I have with the translators.

I wish there would be little bit more consistent when making distinctions between words. It would really help us a lot. Here is this Nazirite reduced to a sideshow. Proverbs 626 four by means of a harlot, a man is reduced to a crust of bread something really nobody wants, not what it used to be, not what was intended to be, not something to look forward to. So they call for Sampson from the prison. And he performed for them. Strongman the show, man. That's what he is now back to these Hebrew words both carry the idea of entertaining people and comedy laugh. They mocked him, reads better this way, using the two words performed ring Sampson so we can have a laugh and when he arrived he played the comedian. That's how it that's the kind of use of the word performed twice in this and so areas in the just chucking it up. He is performing for them now. Maybe he's dancing while theremin there with whips. You could understand.

He would do a dance to be better. The do enhance and get a whip or he is pantomiming is witty. We know that is a sharp cookie in his head just shall he is performing for them. That is what the text tells us they again think he is harmless because they believe they've tamed him and they have were not for God. In fact, so DOS filed a Sampson that they have assigned the lad to lead him around as a seeing lad boy and they stationed him between the pillars. Big mistake by God's design. The ones on the roof. They have a birds eye view.

They've turned this into a makeshift theater. This will be a high body count.

Nobody knows what's coming. Sampson I believe knows what he wants to do. Verse 26 then Sampson said to the lad who led him by the hand. Let me feel the pillars which support the temple so that I can lean on them. Euphemism here is our eyewitness it reads the story does as though none of the adults survive this lab survives to tell the story and this indicates that he lives that the lead let me feel the pillars verse 26 which support the temple so that I can lean on them now again 3000 capacity on the roof. Probably three, 4000 below the colonnades were Sampson made enough trips to Gaza to have spied out you could say that not with this intention, but this is likely the this was the temple of Dagon.

Jews really didn't have anything there temple still tent so he would've observed it very possible because of its arena type structure that from the outside, he could see when his eyes were still with them. He could see that the structure dependent on just two columns you can look that said you know what that those loadbearing beams take out those two columns whole thing.

He had to have had some prior knowledge or is quizzing the lad which is not likely know what to let her know about loadbearing columns so he got an idea of the battlefield that he is choosing most generals do, and Sampson is a one man army of one man is general of his one-man army. Of course, so he says in verse 26.

Let me feel the pillars which support the temple so that I can lean on them so he's. He specifies the ones that support the temple.

You would think when you look at some of the ancient temples you think will. There are many pillars and to take out two of them is not going to fell the entire temple you get a portion of it so Sampson must've again known that know this one is unique and is probably not all stone could've been wooden beams that were there very likely, but because is not the stone it's killing the people as the people falling the end and landing on each other and the materials of the building. Do you put it all together. Some of them probably died, slow death strapped underneath the rubble and each other but you know here Sampson. It was bad to be defeated, but he was not content is not leave it at that. In the prison house of his abusers. He wanted to get even in this was going to give him that opportunity to get to that place he had to retain a defiant spirit, defiance of his enemies in his mind allowed him to make up his mind if I ever get a shot.

I'm going to do as much harm to them as I could because he doesn't pray God gives him strength to overpower his guards. He sort of just weeks when he was considering his ways. Verse 27 the temple was full of men and women, all the lords of the Philistines were there about 3000 men and women on the roof watching while Sampson performed a catch that. Now the temple was full of men and women. That's one thought all the lords of the Philistines were there five of them with their entourage. That's another thought about and in my new King James verse. There is an – between the Philistines there in about 3000 translators picking up that this is another thought so you have the temple full. You have the lords then you have about 3000 men and women on the roof in the bleachers watching Sampson performed likely an atrium is open space in their surrounding all and he's down in the pit taken in arena and they can see this a full temple where it says all the lords of the Philistines were there all the big shots. This is not only a target rich environment. It is loaded with high valued targets and is going to be catastrophic for the Philistines when he's finished with them.

He's going to buy enough time for the Jews to raise up a David to deal with the Philistines thoroughly. So verse 28. Then Sampson call to Yahweh saying, oh Lord that's at on. I then Yahweh follows all Lord, Yahweh, remember me. I pray strengthen me. I pray just this one so God that I may with one blow. Take vengeance on the Philistines for my two eyes. This is the second time we hear of Sampson calling on the Lord. The first one was for water and this wonderful slaughter. One of those things works out language after the school of thousand men.

He called out to the Lord for water, and God gave him water to drink here is calling on God so that he can slaughter those in revenge for taking his eyes so he says saying all Lord, remember me. I pray strengthen me. I pray just this once, and this is how we know that his hair was not the source of his strength because he's going to be asked to be granted this prayer hair or no hair. He says, oh God, that I may with one blow.

Take vengeance on the Philistines God's going to answer this, I believe at this point he senses God's going to answer this and dispatches the lad will after the last words of Sampson when he says let me die with the Philistines. The kid was scooting he was running for his life from shore. So anyway God's going to grant this prayer here in the pagan gods temple the righteous man is praying God is overruling the false God and in granting the prayer because of course that's what makes him God.

He overrules all the others is but he says it for my two eyes is unpardonable what they've done to me still falling short of the ideal instead of saying, Lord, let me execute judgment to deliver your people from these oppressively people were vicious and so they did with his eyes a means that it is killing him in there with all they did with his wife and her family, burning them alive to death. These were vicious people in so he doesn't save that I can strike a blow on the enemies to know this is from high to eyes just sucked a self-centered guide to the end. Gallop himself. I don't think that made of all the bad guy. We still have the kind of guy would want to share room on the road with you know if I was on just the probably just made you annoyed after what is so vain Sampson everything about you so verse 29 and Sampson took hold of the two middle pillars, which supported the temple and he braced himself against them. One on his right hand and the other on his left, while idiocy brought him here his own idiocy, not a car name what model you drive an idiot anyway. He is going to make it work from the done this to me. I have a chance to strike them back. I don't think he was thinking I'm going to kill them all. I think he was saying I'm going to just kill as many of them as I can. The five lords of the Philistines, he I'm gonna take these guys out and he braced himself against them.

One on his right and the other one is left. Not to mention this, I calculated I think 3000 people at about 140 445 pounds. If you got over 400,000 pounds of people added to the structure they going to be coming down breaking the next minute the people down below.

Verse 30 m picture that 3000 people falling in this collapsible building is a distance God like a two-story building. This is when I wasn't there. Verse 30 then Sampson said let me die Philistines push with all his might. Temple fell on the lords and all the people were in for the dead that were killed at his death more than he had killed in his life move.
